Vampires. Legends, myths, creatures of lore. As far as most people know. How wrong they are.

You cannot die. Well, you cannot die of old age. Either long ago, or more recently, you were turned. Created. Shifted. Transformed. There are a dozen words for it and none of them quite describe the experience. Your life ended and your unlife began. No longer could mortal food, drink, or lust satisfy you. You now satisfied these needs through the draining of mortal blood. Your maker taught you the rules of the society, and showed you the ways of your new world. And when the time was right, or perhaps for another reason, you left them, and sought your fortunes out in the world at large. You followed the path that fate laid for you, which one day, brought you across the ocean blue to the New World, a new land of opportunity, for the living and the dead.

Welcome to Court of Blood, an RP based off the Choose your own adventure game Choice of Vampires. Loosely at least. The rules and vampires and the structure of vampiric society are all based off what is laid out in the game and it's sequel. The premise of the RP is to tell the tale of a vampire society in America throughout the history of the United States, starting with the Eve of Revolution, Boston, 1763. There will be a central plot to each location the RP visits and most will be self contained stories pertaining to those locations at that point in history.

General Stuff

As for the actual society of Vampires, there is a bit of history behind them, as one might expect from a society of immortals. Though almost contrary to that, there is almost no history of vampire-kind before the Roman Empire. During the time of Julius Caesar, a young roman commander worked his way up the ranks. Adonis Pluto Liber was brilliant in military command, and as a self styled son of Pluto bore incredible gifts of strength and speed, born with only one weakness, he could not walk under the sun of day. In reality, Adonis was a vampire, a younger one but still of considerable power. Vampire's were still unorganized at the time, and confined within the borders of Rome. Taking advantage of the political upheval that followed Caesar's assassination, Adonis seized the moment. In a great campaign across the empire, with several of his brood, or vampires he created, Adonis slew every vampire older than himself and gave the ones younger than him a chance. Swear to him as ruler of Vampirekind, or be slain. By the time Augustus rose to power, Adonis was in complete control of Vampire society.

The first thing he did with his new power was strike all records of himself from mortal records. Following that, Adonis formed the Cruento Praetorian, the enforcers of his new "Society of Night." These new Praetors were loyal to the self styled Consul Adonis, and sought out any mention of Vampires before Adonis's takeover, and had it destroyed, along with any dissenters to Adonis's rule. In order to ensure peace within his society, Adonis created the political system that still governs Vampires today. He created a senate, and a system of governors. While an edict from Adonis was undeniable, the Senate would handle the more menial decision making and administrative duties, while the governors would enforce the Consul's will in the area they were assigned, including appointing Quaestors, who watched over larger settlements in Adonis's name. Once a city had a Quaestor, the Senate would then choose a Senator from amongst vampire kind to represent the city.

In order to enforce his rule over his new system of bureaucracy, Adonis then created the 3 Rs. The Rules of Respect, Restraint, and Reserve. In actual terms, it meant that a member of the Society would have to receive the permission of a Quaestor to stay in larger cities, that all members of the society would have to keep themselves hidden from Mortals beyond servants at any cost, and that members of the society could not kill each other without reason. That privledge was reserved for Adonis and his Praetors. Thus Adonis was able to establish total control over vampires, and from there begin to control their expansion. Vampires traveled all over the world, but only cities worthy of Adonis's blessing were granted any power in the society. As time went on, Adonis became more drawn into his own research than to truely bother with his Society, leaving duties to the Senate for a few hundred years, who could only approve Governors to control new provinces by a unanimous decision.

It was also around this time that select vampires began to worship Adonis, fueling a vampiric religion known as Consuline Worship, believing Adonis to be a living god who would lead Vampires to total dominance of the planet. Counter to the Consulines were the Children of Abraham, who worshipped the christian lord, and believed all vampires to be descendants of Isaac, son of Abraham, who was turned into a vampire when Abraham attempted to sacrifice him. The two religions clashed, until Adonis began to hunt down any and all of the Children of Abraham. This recent refocusing of the Consul has triggered the creation of several new districts across the world, including the now settled northeast colonies of Great Britain, centered around the newly appointed Governor of Philidelphia. This has lead to the influx of vampires across the world to many cities in the north east, all desiring to become a Quaestor in this new realm.
Vampires are granted a few abilities upon their turning. While many vampires are satisfied with mere immortality, there are abilities for those who are willing to explore their condition and push their own limits. These are seperated into two classes, Basic abilities that any vampire with the knowledge of them can master, and Advanced abilities that require centuries to master.
Basic Abilities
Blood Spittle: Vampires can bite the inside of their mouth and mix their blood with spit to create a powerful healing agent that can mend all but the worst mortal wounds. This tactic is often employed to hide bite marks on mortal prey, so as to keep Vampiric presence hidden.

Stealth: Vampires have an almost natural ability to blend into the background of the world. Mortal's will scarce notice their presence in a crowd, their eyes gliding over the vampire in question without issue. Some Vampires have taken the time to study and hone this ability to the point of being practically render themselves invisible to mortals when standing still. This takes decades to truly perfect but can be well worth the time for some.

Intellect: This ability is natural in all Vampires. Vampires can learn things much quicker than any mortal and have a far easier time recalling that information later, making them able to master a wide variety of mortal hobbies and arts.
Advanced Abilities
Shapeshifting: By far the most common advanced technique, Shapeshifting is also the easiest to master, with most vampires being able to master at least one form within a century of study. Additional forms become harder to master after the first one, with only the true upper eschelon of powerful vampires being to handle upwards of three forms.
Hypnosis: Certain vampires have mastered the ability to charm mortals to do their will. While many vampires find that they become more persuasive after death, true hypnosis is an incredibly difficult art that takes decades to even begin to use, let alone the multiple centuries it takes to master. Some of the most ancient practitioners of this art, the few vampires who come close to Adonis himself in age, can even control other vampires.

It is also worth noting that with time, Vampires slowly get stronger and faster. This ability cannot be improved beyond a small measure by practice, as only getting older will truely increase a vampires speed/strength. Typically a vampire will only start to experience notable shifts when they have been a vampire for around 50 years, with multiple centuries old vampires being able to easily lift a horse and carraige, and Adonis and his ilk practically being superhuman. This what allows the Praetors to so easily keep order over the Society.

NS Name: The Anarcho-Syndicalist Commune
Character Name: Lev Vasyutin, also uses the alias Leon Petra
Appearance: Image
Age: 360
Maker: Karina Popov, now Governor of Moscow, a truely ancient being whose original name has been lost to time, instead going by the Russian name she has adopted for herself. Karina is famous among the upper echelons of the Society for rejecting the title of Praetor five times, even when offered to her by Adonis himself. Instead, Adonis made her Governor of the Russian Territories that were quickly rising in the world following the collapse of the mongols.
City of Origin: Moscow

Abilities: Both of the basic abilities, and he has modest success shape shifting into the form of a barn owl.
Religion: Eastern Orthodox, but he has some leanings into the Consulite faith, mostly due to his time with his Domina/maker
Languages Spoken: Russian, Greek, English

Biography: Lev was born three and a half centuries ago, during the reign of Vasily I, Grand Prince of Muscovy. His family were minor nobles in the court of the Grand Prince in one of the greatest periods of turmoil in Russian history. The Grand Prince had cast off the yolk of the Tatar's and for the first time in two centuries the Muscovites were truely independent. Lev's father made something of a name for himself as a commander in Vasily's army, though the realm saw no proper warring during the reign of Vasily I. Lev himself was raised to be a warrior, a force against to be reckoned with upon the battlefields. He was tutored by some of the best commanders in Russia and was also taught Greek by the various priests who came to court. This lead Lev to grow up to become a true sucessor to his father and more as one of the Grand Duke's premier commanders.

Eventually, Vasily passed on, leaving his throne to the then 10 year old Vasily II. Almost immediately afterward, Yuri, brother of Vasily I, began to plot to try and seize the crown. Though an alliance with the Grand Duke of Lithuania kept Vasily on the throne for 5 years, his death led Yuri to gain the permission of the Khan of the Golden Horde to seize the crown of Muscovy. Yuri then attacked the forces of Vasily outside of Moscow. It was during this battle that Lev was mortally wounded. While he laid dying, his father recovered him from the battle field, and brought him to a lover of his, a mystic that could heal his wounds.

It was so that Lev met Karina Popov, a younger looking woman who looked to be of greek descent. While Lev was strewn out and incoherent on her table, Karina informed his father that there was only one thing she could do, and that Lev's father would pay with his life. Wanting his son to live at all costs, he agreed. Karina began her black work, performing the time consuming blood transfusion that turned mortals into Vampires. Lev's blood turned to fire, and his wounds healed. He woke with a great leap, and felt only one thing... hunger... indescribable hunger. Locking his eyes on his father, Lev lunged at him and bit into his neck, savagely draining him of blood. By the time Karina could pull Lev off of his father's corpse, Lev was practically sucking on a mummy. Removing the corpse from the room, Karina allowed Lev to undergo the final stages of his transformation, returning to him the following night.

By then Lev had regained control of his senses, and demanded to know what was happening. Karina explained the circumstances of his transformation, leaving out the part about draining his father, and the details of his new condition. Upon hearing about Vasily's exile following the ascension of Yuri to the throne, Lev realized what a deal his father had secured for him, and willingly joined the society. He spent the next 50 years in Moscow with his maker, seeing an end to the great civil war after another twenty years of fighting, and the rise of Ivan the Great. In this time he also witnessed the final refusal of Praetorship by his Domina and her appointment as Governor of Moscow, giving her reign over all the Russian territories. Lev learned the ins and outs of the society from his maker, making connections all across the continent. Finally, in 1483, after hearing about the goings on in other parts of the continent, Lev bid his maker farewell for the moment, and after sealing himself in a box, set off for the growing heart of the rennaisance, Florence.

Lev found himself right at home in Florence itself, having already been on good terms with Crassus the Bloody, the ancient vampire who had been made Quaestor of the city and his maker's broodmate, thus making him the nephew of the Quaestor. While the city interested Lev and he had a fine time feasting upon it's residents, he soon grew bored of Italy itself, and secured himself a spot aboard a ship bound for England.

He arrived in England itself around 1503, where he established himself in London as a merchant, shrewdly trading with the growing maritime industry and building himself quite a bit of wealth, that he managed through a front company that he ran through a servant. He established tense relations with Aeron ap Braith, the long time Governor of London, whose domain extended over all the British isles. Aeron was an ancient rival of Karina and though he allowed Lev succor in London, constantly plotted ways to find him guilty of a crime of the society and execute him to bring embarrassment to his rival. Lev managed to outsmart him for a number of years, but finally was forced into exile at Aeron's command in 1634. Not particularly liking any of his prospects for power in the old world where most of the cities and towns had long been cornered off, Lev was informed of a rumor that the Consul was considering appointing proper Governor's in the new world. Joining a wave of vampiric migration to America, Lev found himself in Boston a year later, settling down near the harbor.

Lev, now going by the alias Leon Petra, opened a new shipping business in the Colonial city, establishing relations with the company he used to own, and making himself a name as a local millionaire, though very few had ever seen him in person. Lev witnessed the Cape Anne earthquake of 1755, and after almost dying in the Great Fire five years later, faked his own death, not a very difficult task, and retired to a simpler life of painting and engaging in politics with the other society members in Boston. He's recently stepped up his game now that the recently appointed Governor of Philidelphia has revealed his intention to appoint Quaestors in the most important Colonial cities.

I'm interested, but I have a couple questions.

1. Are human character allowed?

2. How does one become a vampire?

Considering that the plan is for each chapter to go for up to 50 years, a human character may be a bad idea.

The process of the "turning" consists of a blood transfusion by the "maker" vampire, that involves them draining a portion of their blood and transferring it into a drained target, which is followed by a half a day to a day of the vampire being in a rabid state before they normalize and become a full vampire.

NS Name: Nordvyr
Character Name: Thomas Fletcher
Appearance:
Image

Age: 274 (born 1485)
Maker: Baron de la Poer - a particularly ruthless vampire.
City of Origin: Anchester, England

Abilities: All basic abilities + dabbling in shapeshifting.
Religion: Catholic
Languages Spoken: English

Biography: Thomas was born into a poor peasant family in Central England in the immediate aftermath of the Battle of Bosworth Field. In 1502, at the age of 17, Thomas, not suited to a life of farming, entered the seminary to become a Catholic priest. In 1510, he graduated, becoming a country priest.
Due to his youth, energy, and devotion, Thomas was recruited by the Bishop of Canterbury to become a vampire in 1517, after five years of serving as a priest. However, on November 10 of that year, the same day the 95 Theses were written, Thomas's first operation went horribly wrong, and he was severely maimed by Baron de la Poer, and then turned into a vampire. This would cause an existential crisis that Thomas has still not solved.
The Baron was infamous for capturing innocent humans and turning them into his vampiric slaves, who almost inevitably died after a couple hundred years. Thomas met this same fate, and was bound to serve the elder vampire. However, the Baron appreciated Thomas's bravery, and Thomas was treated somewhat well under the Baron. He gained the Baron's trust, and by the Elizabethan era, Thomas was somewhat free, and among other things attended Shakespeare's plays.
During the English CIvil War, the Baron grew much more preoccupied with politics in England, making Thomas even more free. Thomas and his fellow vampire-slave began planning a revolt.
The oppertunity came in the Great Fire of London in 1666. The Baron went to the Fire, hoping to gain a vampiric artifact from another vampire lord in London. However, Thomas and his fellows went ahead of the Baron. They pretended to be trapped in a burning building, and the Baron, not wanting any slaves to die off, went to rescue them. Then, Thomas pushed the Baron out of a third-story window into the flames. Then, Thomas and his fellows, lifted a beam that they had found, and impaled the Baron with it straight through the heart. After this, Thomas's co-conspirator departed for the American colonies, but he decided to stay.
After the Fire, Thomas was left with nothing. The Catholic Church would never accept him, and even if they did, the Anglican Church was dominant in England. So, Thomas decided to live a new life, settling down in England and leading a life as a Catholic, which was tolerated. He was given a small stipend from the Crown of England for helping to rebuild London after the Fire.
After twenty-two years of living a free life, the Glorious Revolution occured in England. James II fled the country, and with him left any hopes of Catholic toleration. In addition, his stipend was revoked. As such, Thomas fled the country, going to the New World colonies.
For the past seventy-five years, Thomas has been travelling around the colonies, serving in many different professions. Most of the time, he was helped by his fellow vampire-slaves who had established themselves in the New Year.

Due to his traumatizing transformation, Thomas rejects vampiric society. He still respects the mortal Pope, and more importantly, he stays out of vampiric affairs. Almost no vampire in vampiric society knows Thomas's true identity, except for any Quaestors, who Thomas at least introduces himself to, but other than that he tries to stay out of vampiric society. However, Thomas has grown to accept that he is a vampire, even if he rejects vampiric culture and traditions. Even though his human and vampiric sides clash, Thomas has regained his emotional stability - many of his problems died with the Baron in 1666, and his identity has been firmly established. However, the world is about to turn upside down for all - Thomas included.

This is mostly all right, with a few changes. The first is that at that age, he would have access to both basic abilities and likely have had basic experimentation into an advanced one. As for the backstory, while it wouldn't be unheard of for makers to keep their spawn as slaves, any more than 2 would risk execution for breaking the Rule of Reserve. As for respecting the Pope, that's not that uncommon in vampiric society. Both of the vampiric religions are minorities in the larger part of the Society, 90% of vampires are normal in their religous beliefs, or mingle their living religion with certain aspects of the two others. Finally, he would be able to stay out of vampiric society for the most part in the New World, but when Boston has a Quaestor appointed he risks execution if he doesn't at least introduce himself.

Character Name: Thomas Fletcher
Appearance:

A few more, then you should be good. Vampires are incredibly secretive, mostly because the Society enforces that secrecy on the pain of death. They have to find somewhat large populations so that any notion of their feeding, whether it be the outbreak of a "strange disease" that results from blood loss, or the dissappearance of people they kill, can't be pinned on them. Because of this Vampires mostly stayed out of North America until the last 50 years or so, and even then the big boom of vampiric migration happened in the last 20 or so with the appointment of the Governor of Philidelphia. If Thomas was in America for this time, he would likely have been in New Spain, and would likely have some proficiency, if not fluency in Spanish, as well as his fellow slave.

Other than that, there isn't any "hard" magic that would result in the creation of an artifact like I think your describing. While some religous relics may contain a modicum of holy power, they would be useless to any Vampire. Any relic that the Baron might be seeking would be purely historic. Besides that, it's a few minor nitpicks that don't really have to be changed, but the term "vampire lord" would only really be applied to the Consul himself, everyone else is subservient to him, or else they are executed. And the Baron would either have to be self-styled or be very grateful that a Praetor hasn't kicked down his door for violating the Rule of Reserve.

So will vampires die if they don't drink the blood of humans? Also, the Baron would have been appointed by Henry III of England back in the 13th century, so that's where he gets the "baron" from.

They would first lose their mind, devolving into basically an animal until they are so desperate they try to hunt in the day. And if that's the case then the Baron is fine.

NS Name: Rhinocera
Character Name:Dracan Malifex (Formerly Dracanias Julius Malifex) Oft referred to as Dracan the Dreadl, throughout his life he has been known by many names to mortals, having assumed many identities, currently he is known as Sir Edward Leopold
Appearance:
Age (Recommended maximum is around 500 years old. Anyone much older than that wouldn't have reason to leave the continent): 1,847 (Born in 84 B.C, turned in 44 B.C
Maker (AKA, the vampire who turned you. I recommend you make something of a backstory for them): Adonis
City of Origin: (Where they were turned, not where they were born.) Rome
Abilities: (All vampires would have access to one of the basic abilities. Older ones would have both of them and an advanced ability as well) Wields both of the basic abilities and has attained a mastery of Hypnosis
Religion: (Any works, including the two Vampiric ones listed in the lore section) Worships the Roman Gods
Languages Spoken: Speaks a great many languages, most of which he does so as fluently as he would if they were his native tongue. His native tongue is Latin, however.

Biography:
Dracan is the illegitimate son to a Roman senator and an expensive whore. The senator, in order to avoid the inherent embarrassment, never acknowledged the child as his son, nor did he ever disclose the fact that he was the boy’s father to Dracan. Dracan has lived the entirety of his extraordinarily long life without learning the identity of his father, who happened to be a man he knew his entire human life. While the senator never acknowledged Dracan as a son, he did serve as a friend and mentor to him, while also financially providing for the boy while ensuring he was cared for properly, all from the shadows.

As a young boy, Dracanias Julius Malifex idolized his mentor, a man who embodied all that Dracanias aspired to become as an adult. The man was bold, ambitous, accomplished, and seemed destined for greatness. After all, the roman senator that had fathered Dracan was non other than Julius Caesar himself. When he was but 13 years old, he bore witness to Caesar’s role in annihilating the gladiatorial revolt led by the legendary spartacus. This inspired him, and truly set forth the road to his mortal ambitions.

At the conclusion of his boyhood, he followed his mentor into the Roman Military, serving as a loyal soldier for many years to come, remaining with the great Caesar until the legendary Roman’s death. At first, he served as a page of sorts, following Caesar about the battlefield, though he did endure his fair share of combat, an art which he showed an affinity and natural talent for. Violence came naturally to Dracanias, and this suit his career quite well. By the age of 20, he commanded a cohort, by 22, the 1st cohort of Caeser’s legion. By 25, he commanded a legion of his own, subservient to Julius, of course. He campaigned in Egypt, in Gaul, against Pompey, wherever Caesar asked him to go he went, whatever Caesar asked of him he did. Upon Julius’ ascension to Dictator of Rome, Dracanias had become an esteemed, respected, and influential general loyal to only his mentor and oldest friend. His power extended over numerous legions, placing him on the level of Marc Antony, Caesar’s right hand man.

The day of Caeser’s assassination, Dracanias himself befell a similar fate. A number of thugs, under instruction from the senate, entered Dracanias’ home in the dark of night, brutally beating him to what they thought was his death. Dead, however, he was not. The brink of death was upon him. Many thought him to be dead, but agents of the Vampire Adonis. Adonis saw in the weakened and dying Dracanias an opportunity to both attain a new follower and seize control of Dracanias’ legions without having to go through the task of subverting his successor. Adonis turned Dracanias, and convinced him to swear his fealty under the promise of avenging Julius’ death, an offer Dracanias could not refuse.

Once he had survived the feral phase of the transformation, Dracanias resumed his role that he led prior to his vampirism. He used his legions to both avenge Caesar's death, supporting Augustus in the civil wars that followed, and to further Adonis’ own agenda. Many times those who were targeted by Adonis, be it vampire or human, met their demise at the blade of Dracanias or his legionaries. In short order, Dracanias was named a Praetor, using his power and influence in the mortal world while he grew in strength as a Vampire.

As the centuries passed and generations of mortals were born and died off, Dracanias grew in power and influence within the Vampiric society. At first, he was but a pawn in Adonis’ schemes. His mortal position more meaningful than his vampiric contribution. Eventually, however, he became strong enough to be of use. Often selected by the vampire consul to dispose of those who had become a hindrance, Dracanias, long since referred to as Dracan, became Dracan the Dread. Wielding a sword of great elegance, adorned with rubies and hilt and scabbard, crafted by the finest smith, mortal or vampiric, that he ever encountered, he slew many an enemy of Adonis and the society. A trusted servant to Adonis, his loyalty was unwavering and his wrath unrelenting. If a threat did not warrant Adonis’ interference, there was a decent chance that Dracan would be the last figure a doomed vampire would ever see.

Over a millenia past his transformation, Dracan has attained incredible personal power. His time as Adonis’ assassin not past, yet still able to assume an additional seat of infuence, he settled as the Quaestor of Madrid, an important post from which he both asserted his influence, often through hypnosis, on mortal politics. The extent of his interference is unknown, but there are rumors that he has even placed mortal kings under his sway, along with dozens, if not hundreds of others.

His oldest rival, friend, and ally, another ancient vampire, settled as quaestor of another great european city, is rumored to participate in grand yet secret contest where they pit mortal societies against each other, creating war and instability across the mortal plain. This is not simply a contest between two old acquaintances, as the instability prevents mortals from settling and identifying the society that exists beneath them. To this day, they remain friends and allies and often communicate as to ensure their own security and interests.

Dracan’s fortune of power and influence met a crisis at the onset of the 17th century, as the Children of Abraham became a dire threat. While he hunted them relentlessly, murdering many, they did not sit idle and wait for their demise. A handful of their most powerful members assembled and attempted to assassinate Dracan, but failed. He killed 3 of the 5 while two fled, but was himself grievously wounded. His injuries were not fatal, but left him severely weakened, with much of his power sapped away by his wounds. For decades, he resided in his own secret fortress, barely capable of leaving his bed as he was so weak. He was cared for by his vast mortal servantry and a few loyal vampires (some being of the weaker variety which had enabled him to cast them under his control). By the 1680s, he had regained enough strength to reemerge, resurfacing (though Adonis and a select few were aware of why he had stepped away) to see madrid with new leadership, and much of what he had known changed. He made his way too new spain, living as a spanish noble from the shadows, asserting control over much of the local governance. His incursion, however, did not sit well with the governor of the region, who appealed to him to leave. Prior to his weakened state, such an appeal may have been violently rebuked. However, as he still was weaker than a 3rd his age, he acquiesced.

Making his way to boston, he now poses as an Englishman of the name Sir Edward Leopold, a man who met his demise at Dracan’s own hands. He hopes to garner the appointment of quaestor and to reestablish his now greatly diminished position. He also seeks refuge from his enemies while he continues to recuperate, many of whom have no reason to migrate to the new world as they are seated in positions of power in the old one. Still extremely weakened, possessing the power of an individual of seven centuries instead of 18, he understands it will be decades if not a century until his strength is regained. In an effort to hide his identity from those who may still wish him dead, he masquerades as a vampire of 3 centuries in age, by the name of John Lemano, an english vampire long since dead, with the approval of the consul.

I have a question..I have an idea for a vampiric society, is it fine to have custom lore for this or do I have to build off the lore provided by OP?

(The exact lore is in the "Vampires?" factbook and the vampire I'm going to use is Frederick von Limburgh. Limburgh's bio and a few other things in there are false, but the other info isn't. The real bio will be provided in the application. I'll also put in Henry McGrovester as a character if we're allowed to have more than one character. The story is that their parents were authorised by Adonis to create children, and they picked the very edges of the Empire to avoid any major human contact. Their parents are now long dead due to unknown reasons, and Limburgh's mortal identity is a cultured member of the upper class, using his vampiric intelligence to play the piano and paint masterpieces, whilst McGrovester is a rich industrialist in London, riding on the wave of the Industrial Revolution. Despite only being about 400 years old each, they have an exceptional ability to blend into human society, with them being able to appear in public and even integrate properly with barely any trace. Those who do catch upon it are easily dispelled as conspiracy theorists due to the lack of evidence left behind.)

Do you mean like a group within the Society or a completely seperate society of vampires? The former I'd be fine with if you write it out, but the Society has pretty much a global hegemony over vampire kind outside of a few who live in the wilderness.

Right, so first off, while the backstory is well written, I can't accept this app, for a handful of reasons. The first of which is why he is depowered. Wounds would not diminish a vampires strength. Once they begin to grow in power the only way to deal with them is to kill them. Part of the reason Adonis has remained in charge for so long is because he is so much older than any potential challenger that they would need a massive army of other vampires to come anywhere close to killing them.

The age and lineage is another issue. To start off, having him be the son/protege of Julius Caesar is a fair bit too far for me, even given the nature of this RP. Secondly, even a depowered scion of Adonis would most definitely remain in the old world, probably forcibly by his makers side of he was so wounded by the Children of Abraham. Adonis's bloodline is fiercly guarded by the Consul. Any child of his would be either at his side or a Praetor or a Governor, at the lowest a Senator.

His constant interaction with mortals is another big problem. He would be pretty seriously breaking the Rule of Restraint with this game with his old friend, to the point of having other Praetors called on him. I'll admit I was rather vague on it in the OP, but most of the interaction vampires are going to have with the mortal world is purely through managing their financial affairs and a select few servants. While this doesn't exclude interactions with mortal society, having kings under his sway and playing a game of empires with his friend would be incredibly over the line.

Finally some other small points, Praetor is a pretty exclusive title. Their job requires them to move around pretty much all the time. On the other hand a Quaestor is pretty much required to be in their city at all times, so the two wouldn't really be compatible jobs.

I appreciate the effort, but this is not the kind of character I'm looking for in the RP.

Do you mean like a group within the Society or a completely seperate society of vampires? The former I'd be fine with if you write it out, but the Society has pretty much a global hegemony over vampire kind outside of a few who live in the wilderness.

Yes, almost a subspecies of vampires. They're still within the society, just a subspecies of vampire. They're very similar, just with minor differences. Also, am I allowed to have 2 characters and can they be Quaestors? (Since they're probably the most influential in their city, with McGrovester being extremely rich and Limburgh being a genius and in effect manipulating the upper (and some portions of the lower) class to do the vampire bidding?). The cover-up story for McGrovester going to America is to help the revolutionaries in order to establish a new enterprise and/or to help the Empire (depends on who you ask) and the cover-up for Limburgh's going to America is to perform music and flee the anti-intellectual Austrian government. That is, if I need to be there.

All right, the "sub-species" would be more like a group who has a specific power they keep to themselves. As for being a Quaestor, one may be a claimant for the title in Boston, but that would be unofficial and he could easily be superseded by the Governor appointing someone else. The RP is only in one city at a time, tough that will change somewhat often. McGrovester's backstory doesn't really work as the Revolution would barely be an idea at the start of the RP. The Stamp Act hasn't even been passed yet. Other than that you should be good to go.

By not being out in sunlight. There's no way to avoid it, if sunlight touches you, you burn.
