Out of curiosity, were there no 2018 P2TM RP Awards this year?

I haven't seen anything about it either. Last year, it didn't fare very well, and no judging was actually done. Not enough entries, so not enough interest to continue it, I guess.

Pretty much this. The reaction from the community was a profound meh, and despite bribings and beatings essentially none of the judges could be forced to show up, so there wasn’t exactly a great drive to resuscitate the idea again for this year.

Well, I am one of the few who was saddened to see it go. Liked the awards. Always tried to nominate good posts.

Despite, or maybe because Fallout 76 was a colossal failure, I've been wanting to make a Fallout RP set in post-apocalyptic Tokyo with a neo-shōgunate and revived Japanese Red Army fighting for control of the Kantō region. There would be quite a lot of instances for cargo cults to develop based on machines and pop culture of the pre-war era, resulting in cults which worship electric yellow mice and try to catch them in red & white balls. I don't know if such a concept would be well received though.

I'd be interested in a Fallout setting with a group of rebels called "Atompunks" who ride old pickup trucks, wear power armor, and listen to punk rock while raining nuclear fire on raiders and mutants.

It's an idea I've had for a while. I find it amusing.

Isn't the whole point of fallout to evoke amaracana and comment of very american centric themes? Setting it in japan just wastes the whole idea because it throws out almost all of the thematic elements and imagery.

Just makes an OG Post-Apoc RP set in japan. That probably more artisticly fulfilling in the long run anyway

Gotta also remember that Japan has a very different take on the whole Nuclear thing considering that, you know, they got nuked. Somebody falls in a vat of radioactive waste in America, they get superpowers. Somebody falls in a vat of radioactive waste in Japan, they turn into a 100-meter tall monster that eats Tokyo.

I basically did that once, if you want feel free to use that as a base, though in mine pop culture got stopped by the nukes in the 80s.

If you're referring to Godzilla, he's not 100 meters tall. According to the movies, he's tall enough to tower over skyscrapers and yet short enough to get tangled in electrical wires.

The "Atom Cats" sounds like the name of a really bad 70's psychedelic band.

Yes, there would also be underwater mutants referred to as “kawatora.” another word for kappa which I think sounds cooler.

Fallout intentionally parodies the propaganda and pop culture of America in the Cold War, and there's quite a gold mine of 1960's - 70's Japanese history and pop culture to draw on for a Fallout RP : Pinkie violence films, the Tatenokai, ũman ribu, etc.

Whatever part they want. Would be fairly open for people to be who they want, or even create their own characters.
