Co-op : The Palmetto
The Gilded Age of Mega-Corporations is coming to a end. The people grow ever-so tired and eager for change. There are those who wish for peaceful reform to society, while others wish to spark the flames of revolution. Corporate assets, holdings, stocks, and everything from around the world are targets for rebel gatherings. In the U.S, the Mega-Corporations of the 19th Midwestern Sector, 84th North American Branch have been working to crackdown on rebels, revolutionaries, and the likes. In the same vein, these Mega-Corporations have been funding terror groups and rebels to fight a shadow war against one another.

You are one among many - either a big CEO or a lonely person who seeks the downfall of the corporations. There are many factions to speak with and interact, and many curious oddities in this world like cute animal girls who are also trained assassins - for they were biologically grown like that (among other things). In any case, the future presents a dangerous and strange upbringing. Welcome to Sector 19, 84th North American Branch of the Northeastern U.S

Subversive Elements
Angry, tired, and mostly all poor - these men and women have took up arms against the establishment. If you wish to cause trouble or fight for a greater ideal then you have found yourself at the right place.

- United People’s Front:
Communists, socialists, anarchists, etc, who believe that the decadence of today is caused by the greed of the Elite. They are popular with the lowest dregs of society, and are the most numerous and active of rebels despite being culled regularly by Government and Mega-Corp forces. Every death only serves to inflame their fanaticism, something that makes up for their lack of arms, funds and connections. They enact Guerrilla Warfare on a massive scale, aimed at winning the hearts and minds of the people, inciting riots, and leaving as much damaged corporate and government property as possible.

- Persons of Interest:
Caroline Hestia: Caroline is the female form of Karl, and Hestia refers to the Goddess of Hearth and Home. Caroline Hestia is a adult woman who has retained her kindly features and attitude despite the dirt, grime, and cruelty that permeates the Undercity. For this, she is a first among equals and is considered the mastermind behind the UPFs inception. Often referred to as “Mother of the Revolution”, Caroline is a well-known public figure in the Undercity who’s mere presence rouses the spirit of the common revolutionary to great and fanatical heights. Though she regrets spending so many lives, she only hopes the rewards is worth the cost.

- Liberty Union:
Idealists who still believe in the Democratic systems of old. They claim to be a direct continuation of the United States Government. Vastly unpopular with both the Elite and the Masses who’ve lost faith in the Government, but are the most well-trained of the rebel groups, often attracting those with familial connections to the old US Military-Industrial Complex. They currently run a guerrilla campaign and have extensive connections with the criminal underground who they purchase arms from. Their Modus Operandi usually involves assassinations and kidnappings of high-profile individuals via the usage of the Mega-Corporations own toys, with a focus on turning key individuals so that the Union can gain control of the Mega-Corporations from the inside.

- Persons of Interest:
President Frederick Douglas Relano: Abbreviated to FDR, referencing the American President FDR. Much like his predecessor, FDR is wheelchair bound and is known for his idealism and magnetic charisma. The man leads the LU and inspires unshakable loyalty in them, and when he speaks, those present listen even if they hold no respect for him. A gifted orator and politician, he seeks to bring back and improve upon the olden ways of life where every man and woman is free to pursue a life of happiness and comfort, free from the terrors of the state and other soulless organizations.

- The Silver League:
Different flavors of Fascist who believe that the decadence of today is caused by the lack of a strong, central authority that works for the interests of the nation. They are popular with the unofficial aristocratic elite of society, but what they lack in manpower and military force, they make up for in up-to-date information regarding the Mega-Corporations and their puppet government, sometimes even paralyzing the chain of command when needed. Though, often at a steep cost.

- Persons of Interest:
Abeona Antoinette: Abeona refers to the goddess of travels and children, while Antoinette refers to the last queen of France whose fate and lifestyle should reflect the people in the SL. That said, Abeona is a bit of a violent tomboy. While she’s perfectly fine with dresses and all that, she much prefers clothing that offers more mobility, and she doesn’t mind getting her hands dirty. The temperamental teen claims to be the acting representative of the Silver League, and she certainly has the connections to back it up much to everyone's’ disbelief. The girl is known to sneak out of her manor where her parents like to lock her up in to keep her safe, but time and time again, she’s been able to foil their attempts.

Corporations and the Government
Don’t fancy yourself a rebel? Well, you could always join the ranks among the big CEO(S) high in the skyscrapers. Either a worker, security guard, manager, and what not - you work for the corporations in some capacity.

There’s also the government (The North American Federation) that you can enlist yourself in, but they are a mere puppet for the Megacorps

- North American Federation:
The ruling puppet government for all of North America. Runs on a Parliamentary System, with a house of Senators representing each Sector who are responsible for voting a Prime Minister into power and making legislation. Deeply unpopular with the people, and currently led by a shameless hedonist with more money than sense. The current PM is loathed by everyone, and is a magnet of hate that keeps the attention of the public away from the Megacorps running the show behind the scenes. Despite this, they have a very competent Intelligence Service, and a very well funded and trained Military and Police Force. However, it’s no secret that all three owe their loyalty to other entities entirely.

- Persons of Interest:
Fett Kath - A "Fat Cat" in every sense of the word. The Prime Minister's incompetence and decadence can only be matched by the sheer girth and weight he possess. The man is so divorced from reality, that one can scarcely believe him to be actual human. A actor, perhaps, playing his role incredibly well. Whatever the case may be, Fett Kath owes his position to the powers that be so long as he serves a potent distraction, something almost everyone seems to have bought wholesale.

- Cybermace Robotics:
Cybermace Robotics (C.R) is a mega-corporation that specializes in cybernetics. Need to get a new arm, eye, leg, etc. C.R shall be your friend. Their rival, Biogen, has been competing with them since the inception of both companies. Both R.M.I and C.R have been known to work together to make the next generation of Androids and cybernetics.

- Persons of Interest:
Lars Hypnos: A “Lar” in Roman Tradition is the personal guardian deity of a home and family, and Hypnos is the God of Sleep in Greek myth who is guarded by Aergia, the Goddess of Inactivity. Lars is a incredibly lazy teenager, who forgets to even eat at times causing him to look rather skinny and ungroomed, but in a attractive sort of way. Still, he is a genius programmer with a acute business sense, and is a lover of automation. He inherited the family business as soon as he came of age, proving his father’s superior in every way. The boy detests doing anything manually, and hopes to one day achieve a fully automated world where he doesn’t have to do anything. Other than that, he is notorious for rarely showing up in person during meetings, almost always doing them through a computer screen instead.

- Real Metal Industries:
Real Metal Industries (R.M.I) is a mega-corporation that manufactures and distributes military heavy equipment. From tanks to helicopters to mechs, etc, R.M.I has been the lead in the methods of killing another person via the rain of metal.

- Persons of Interest:
Jackie Katyusha: Jackie is a reference to Admiral John “Jacky” Fisher who is often credited for the invention of the dreadnaught. Katyusha meanwhile refers to the infamous Soviet Rocket Barrages. Both encapsulate Jackie’s design philosophy as a renowned weapons engineer: Fit as many big guns as you can without compromising armor. Speed is for pansies and aiming is a crutch for those who can’t fill the air with lead. Jackie is a middle aged woman known for her aggression, stubbornness, and pyromaniac tendencies. She’s always looking for offense even when there is none, a result of paranoia, and operates on a hair trigger. This, combined with her spiteful tendencies, makes her a poor team-player.

- Biogen Incorporated:
Biogen Incorporated (B.I) is a mega-corporation centered around genetic engineering of the commercial kind. Want to look more like a celebrity? Lose fat with little effort? Be smarter? Have a fluffier pet? Visit the nearest B.I Clinic then! They’re famous for running the Idol Industry and other such media of superstars.

- Persons of Interest:
Hugh Russo: Hugh is a reference to the man responsible for Playboy Magazine’s existence, and Russo is a reference to Ladd Russo from Baccano who has a fiance that can only be described as doll like. Hugh Russo is a well-dressed, handsome man that oozes charisma and charm. He’s known for being a flirt, pervert, and a massive cheat. Never roll dice or play cards with him especially if you’re a woman that he fancies. Hugh can never be found alone, and will always be surrounded by a gaggle of incredibly gorgeous women, women who are also most likely capable of slitting anyone’s throat before they can even blink.

- Blacklight Securities:
Blacklight Securities (B.S) is the sister company of Biogen Incorporated, and acts as a Private Military Company responsible for selling the services of cloned troopers, engineered to be the perfect soldiers and bodyguards.

- Persons of Interest:
Marian Michael: Marian is a reference to the Marian Reforms which turned the Roman Legion into a Professional Military, and Michael refers to St. Michael, the Patron Saint of Soldiers. As her name suggests, Marian is the perfect picture of a professional. Dispassionate and can be relied upon to know what to do in any situation. She takes pride in her troops being the best there is in what they do, and she’s right more often than not. Marian has the self-control of a machine, and is renowned for being precise and methodical, often preferring to do the most she can with what resources are available instead of settling for “good enough”. When people say she was born in a uniform, they mean it literally. No one knows if they’ve ever seen her wearing anything that isn’t her uniform or her combat gear. They swear it’s like a second skin.

Locations of Interest
The Northeastern Sector 19, 84th North American Branch is located within the confines of the Northeastern Region of the former U.S.
Urbanized to the extreme with city sprawls covering large chunks of land - the population housed there are packed in tight. Underneath the sector is the Undercity - a place where all the troublemakers call home and live.

- Detroit Administration District:
The North American Federation’s Seat of Power in the Sector. A mix of the Middle Class and the Elite, the District is under heavy security, and contains well-funded facilities that monitor and track the movements of known subversive elements. This District also contains the maximum security prisons where those who attract the ire of the Elite “disappear” to. Considered a top of the line fortress, the unlucky many who go in never come out again.

- New York Administration District:
Situated at the very top where the Rich and the Elite reside. Here, the Megacorporations situate their headquarters in increasingly grandiose fashion. High Rise buildings and mansions are the norm in this district, whose aesthetics of opulence and futuristic extravagance are well maintained and constantly improved. The residents of this District are incredibly hedonistic, with everything they could ever want literally being at their fingertips. Name any pleasure or hobby, anything at all, and you are bound to find a business that offers a quality experience of it, even if they do charge an exorbitant price for it. Security here is lax, with only private bodyguards and particularly enthusiastic hobbyists posing any significant threat.

- Cleveland Industrial District:
Where the majority of the Middle Class find themselves working in. Skilled labor to oversee automation is in demand, and the clean suburbia akin to domed habitats that acts as residences for the workers and their families paint a stark contrast with the smoky and polluted skies that result from factories that never tire. This District is heavily policed and defended to act as a base of operations for lightning raids into the Undercity, especially by Real Metal Industries who have invested vast amounts of capital into it. Not to mention its importance as a major production center.

- The Undercity:
Where the vast majority of the Sector’s population live. Here resides the poor, the downtrodden, the needy, and the unwanted along with the industrial waste and trash from other Districts. With automation having taken over the majority of blue collar jobs, a large portion of the population is left with no choice but to turn to a life of crime just to scrape by, and crime certainly thrives in the unsanitary and poorly maintained labyrinthine walls of the Undercity where Criminal Organizations have replaced the rule of law, and the Government Police Force have basically pulled out. This makes it the perfect hideout for both the Liberty Union and the United People’s Front. Rumors even say of much darker things hiding deep within the Undercity, rumors of mutated freaks and experiments gone wrong.

Other Info
The other crap that is less important but still good to know about.

- Social Classes:
- Lower Class:
The dissatisfied and disenfranchised denizens of the Undercity. These are the people who were thrown away in the face of changing times. The average denizen of the Undercity virtually have no chance of ever moving up in life save for maybe, somehow, climbing the ranks of large Criminal Organizations, and those same Organizations are more than happy to play to those delusions.

- Middle Class:
Technicians, skilled workers, and even soldiers. The Middle Class live in their shells of green, blissfully unaware of the plight of the Lower Class and constantly bombarded with propaganda against the various Rebel groups that have popped up. They are allowed a measure of luxury, and particularly skilled individuals may even see themselves rise to become part of the Elite they so long for. However, there is a growing undercurrent of fear in the Middle Class as raids become ever more frequent and the propaganda stating the rebels are “weak fringe elements” grow increasingly unconvincing.

- The Rich/Elite:
The masterminds and main beneficiaries of the current, corrupt system. If the Middle Class live in shells, the Elite dwell in armored underground bunkers impenetrable to the realities of their crumbling society as they eagerly sink to even deeper depths of excess. Only those who are “need-to-know” are privy to the coming storm, and some of those same people see an opportunity where others smell disaster.

OI THERE, MATE. Welcome to my first RP.
As you see - it's a cyberpunk role-play with the normal stuff that you expect. There will be an overarching-plot that I will guide you about. The basic structure is that you can either be a rebel or a person who works for the big Megacorps. From there, you shall be given missions you have to do in order to progress the plot.

The App is down here for you. There's lots of things that you can be. A neko, a hit-man, a android, a jihadist, etc, etc. Just post your App and I'll take a look. Just make sure not go too crazy here.

Victor "Voicebox" Stromm - A criminal turned hit-man - Victor sell his services to the highest bid that is willing to use him.

Anastasia Mane - A rebellious little girl during her relatively stable former years living in suburbs of Cleveland. Mane has turned away from the easy life of the middle class due to the influence of the UPF. She's now a big time supplier of arms to the Reds.

Koshka - A communist mutant. What could go wrong?

Dr. Fausto Rindón - A respected and known Biogen doctor - the doc has been using "volunteers" for his genetic modifications in a attempt to apply the same selfless-pack mindset of wolves. Messy work he does, but someone has to do it.

Father Sebastian Argyll - Owner of the Fifth Seal Correctional Enterprise, a partner to the North American Federation and a subsidiary to Blacklight Securities, this Man of God shall see to it that all criminals in his prison speak the Words of the Bible...or face unexpected consequences.

Elasma Leisagh-Khisling - A secretary who likes herself some Bionetic and Cybernetic augmentations - she works as a pencil pusher of Hugh Russo and Biogen as a whole.

Geng “Fulcrum” Huang - A lucky man who managed to gain a reputation for his work despite his unsettling background - finds himself barely human, with the odd enjoyment of murdering the mutants of the Under-city with his mech-suit.

Oliver Hawkins - WIP

I'm intrigued. Now, the difficult decision comes. To go cybernetic, or bionetic?

I might blend the two; just a matter of figuring out how to balance it with social status.

Time for some Right-wing Death Squads.

What kind of equipment do we have access to?

Well, that really depends on what faction you're in, but overall, there's lots. We got personal energy shields, high-end power armor that can stop all kinds of bullets, super-smart bullets, LMG-railguns (you'll need a local power-pack for that on your back), cybernetic body parts (think Deus Ex: Mankind Divided), and anything really you can think up. Just send me the idea and I'll see about it.

Well, you could always be a cybernetic supermodel that is also a assassin. Just throwing out ideas.

Now I'm curious, I do believe I'll present an old cyberpunk character regular of mine:

Name: Victor "Voicebox" Stromm

Age: Mid 30s, exact date unknown

Gender: Male

Allegiance: Highest Bidder (May change with time)

Appearance: Average height and size (5'5 and 160 lbs), Brown Hair and Hazel eyes, by most appearances a rather forgettable face in a crowd barring the cybernetic arms and one-of-a-kind throat-piece which he takes great care to conceal.

Physique: Swimmer's build, thin yet definite muscular definition. Exceptionally athletic capability.

Augmentations:
Self manufactured audio box: Victor doesn't speak, instead using this cybernetic device implanted into his throat and chest to play back audio clips (typically music or captured dialogue from those around him) to 'speak' or otherwise express his current opinions.

Tsukata Multi-dex arms: Victor's arms aren't just capable of manipulating your average gun or holding a knife 'n fork, they are swiss-army knives in their own right, containing everything from wire-snips and a bottle opener to single-shot pistols and triage supplies or even countless other compartments for smuggling small items, they are capable of concealing a wide variety of items unless very closely inspected or exposed to high-class security systems among other utilities concealed on their surface.

Unique Face rig: Concealing his face behind a ballistics-resistant material and offering a heads-up display linked to comms-devices of his team-mates, this plaster white ballistic mask also allows seamless interaction with local communications networks (including less carefully encrypted radio networks), components of the mask also allow Victor the ability to disrupt or conceal his face behind a screen of "Static" akin to a malfunctioning TV screen for several minutes at a time to conceal his face from CCTV or similar monitoring systems. This "Static screen" can only be invoked once or perhaps twice a day if charged carefully via bio-electrical batteries within his body. The face-rig can be retracted beneath either of his cheeks and along the sides of his skull.

Equipment:
5 lbs of explosives (capable of being formed into anything from breaching charges for doors to shaped charges to eliminate a car in a convoy) along with the required materials to ignite it and create shaped charges.

Browning Brothers .380 A 3-round burst/Semi-auto caseless ammunition automatic pistol designed for extreme concealment with high capacity magazines. Two 20 round magazines compliment with further potential magazines store in his arms.

2 Flash Pounder Grenades, designed as a hybrid flash-bang and fragmentation grenade. These unique explosives are experimental weapons designed by Victor personally.

A messenger bag referred to as "The bag of tricks" containing "bugs", trip wires, a garrotte, 3 day's rations, change of clothes and other day-to-day necessities for his work. Hidden compartments galore designed to be hidden from most examination for less civil devices in question.

Skills: Infiltration and explosives, although more than capable of holding his own in a firefight.

Personality: A man of (Unsurprisingly) few words, tends to give a cold shoulder to those not directly intimate to him.

Backstory: Trying to pull a past out of Victor is akin to trying to topple a mountain with a hacksaw. The man keeps to himself as an enigma fried in secrecy and sauced in hear-say. Despite this Victor Stromm's past isn't so much one of tragedy as becoming a ruthless young man in an equally ruthless world which shows about as much remorse as a meat grinder for it's oncoming product. Victor's early life was that of hard knocks. A relatively quiet child with few hints of even remote aggression in his entire body would be the easiest description of the child born of a prostitute and a small-time arms dealer that sired "Voicebox".

All it took was one bad day. One missed shipment to the wrong criminal underworlder and Victor's father was thrown into an unknown watery grave out in the Pacific. Victor's mother was dragged off to 'repay the debts' of her husband into a trafficking circuit and Victor, desperate to save the 2 tiniest stable factors in his life, fought back against the criminals seeking to destroy his gleaming hope of normal life. The resulting brutal beating left Victor a mute and also now homeless at the tender age of 16, with nowhere to go the mute boy began work with the criminal underworld. "Voicebox" as he would later become known for his hand-built implant surgically implaced by a back-street doctor would earn him a reputation as a deranged assassin who's constantly played back music would be used to haunt and taunt potential targets for days on end before ending their life in 'tragic accidents', often involving explosives.

Edit: Slight spacing/grammar changes.

Backstory seems fine to me and most other things too. I just have a few questions.

For his Unique Face Rig, what's the level of protection that it can provide? 9mm, 7.62mm, etc, and how many rounds can it withstand before being broken?

You mention something about bio-electrical batteries. Do they power all your augmentations indefinitely or do they need to be charged every so often? Can EMPs/electricity harm your systems?

The Tsukata Multi-dex Arms, I assume that they encompass your whole arm. If so, what kind of damage can it withstand? If not and its just your hands - same question.

The last question is about your explosives. This is not required to answer, but I would like to see what's the explosive power of it. Is it like C4?

(Also, I added a physique to the app. I just need to know your physical condition now.)

Varies setting to setting, most usually settle 2-3 High caliber pistol/low-to-mid caliber rifle (.44 mag to 5.56 for instance, about the effectiveness of a modern ballistic mask) although in settings with considerably higher grade weapons OPs have allowed a modest increase in durability

The Empire of Tau wrote:You mention something about bio-electrical batteries. Do they power all your augmentations indefinitely or do they need to be charged every so often? Can EMPs/electricity harm your systems?

Arms are on their own power sources, said bio-battery is mostly only for the masks' functions. Chiefly handles the scrambler (Static function over face), which lasts 15-20 minutes at a time, for moments when using the mask is too obvious yet still need concealment. A bright white mask is obvious, just seeing a blurry face in the crowd though can be written off as peripheral vision being screwy. EMPs Can screw with the mask, after all, good luck shielding such small electronics effectively, the arms however would not be affected.

The Empire of Tau wrote:The Tsukata Multi-dex Arms, I assume that they encompass your whole arm. If so, what kind of damage can it withstand? If not and its just your hands - same question.

Whole arm, correct sir/madam. It would be difficult to conceal the above-mentioned items in just the hands after all and still have room for other items. As for durability, i'd put them above your average human arm but not necessarily bulletproof. Metal alloys tend to be a bit more durable than flesh and blood after all.

The Empire of Tau wrote:The last question is about your explosives. This is not required to answer, but I would like to see what's the explosive power of it. Is it like C4?

Typically the volatility of modern plastic explosives (C4 and Semtex), "A different piece for each part of the puzzle" is usually my mindset with that. Situations/missions dictate whether more potent munitions be acquired.

The Empire of Tau wrote:(Also, I added a physique to the app. I just need to know your physical condition now.)

Very well, will adjust accordingly.

Well, you could always be a cybernetic supermodel that is also a assassin. Just throwing out ideas.

Would they also be able to have bionetic enhancements?

You mentioned horrors in the deep city, are we allowed to play as one of these horrors of bioengineering? Perhaps a bionetic enhancement gone wrong, creating a horror instead of a marvel of bioengineering?

Go ahead. It'll be a interesting play.

Interesting. I might consider the supermodel gig, or maybe lean more spokesperson. I’m prolly going more bionetic though, like to a pretty far degree.

Yeah, I think I’ll go with that, and hang in the upper class if biomodded people aren’t reviled.

As long you have good connections and money then all is fine. I can't say the same for the lower-class though.

Gotcha, then I’ll definitely go for middle or upper class. Hopefully I’ll hammer out an app soon enough.

Hmm, does Hugh Russo need a secretary or administrative assistant?

Well, he should already have those kind of staff in stock, but a extra secretary would do him nicely.
