President Gaona has chosen his VP for the remainder of his term. Earlier today the Presidential Palace released a short statement congratulating Governor Ricardo Montello. Governor Montello was sworn in during a private ceremony this morning.
Former Congressman and Current Governor of District 2, Miguel Camilo, announced his candidacy for president today. His bid to secure the conservative parties nomination isn't shocking as he was the party's nomination last election. Polls should be released shortly. Henry Bowman responded to the news by releasing a statement saying "Governor Camilo has already tried to lead this country, and lost the election to a terrorist. He needs to stay where he's comfortable, in the Governors residence."

The senate voted today to approve a bill that would outlaw bull fighting. The results were 50-49 with one Senator not present. The president approved the bill the same day writing on top of the bill "Bull fighting is bull sh**!" Henry Bowman voted against the bill and has already stated that if he is elected he will work to repeal such a bill that attacks culture. The bill makes all bull fighting illegal and punishable by a minimal $10,000 but up to 4 years in federal prison.

After presidential candidate Adam Cambre stepped down amidst clear cut evidence of foreign collusion with the Pavlovsk government by his campaign managers, left wing voters have been extremely demoralized. Many claim that Cambre was set up by his competitor, May Steinburg, or standing President Weinburg. Many prominent supporters of Cambre have claimed to be receiving harassment from federal agents and local police, though these complaints have also been voiced by Steinburg supporters.

The conservative voters, despite the Miller controversy, has maintained strong turn out during rallies and in recent polls. O'Malley leads the National Conservative Party primaries with a 18% lead over Miller and enjoys generous campaign contributions from small and large business owners alike. When matched up against Steinburg, O'Malley is favored 68-32 in aggregate polling.

Not willing to just lie down and die, Steinburg's campaign has begun airing ads depicting O'Malley's supporters as far right thugs. Shocking imagery of the recent Cleveland University attack has been used to great effect in the latest batch of ads. Despite these attempts, conservatives are still projected to dominate this election cycle should any major controversies be avoided.

Following the increasingly belligerent nature of the eastern states a new set of guidelines has been established:


1. Electricity is to be tapered up and down on a county-wide basis depending on compliance rates.
2. Fuel shipments to belligerent states are to be distributed based on compliance rates.
3. Protesters are to be rounded up when safe and deported from the nation to the Tolucan desert.
4. Phones are to be restricted to local use only to all non-state personnel. Limited corporate

Military seems unable to run government efficiently; economic policy a failure.
President Fu assures everything is fine.

It has been a month since the military took over the socialist government and created the Federal Republic of Lasir. At first, citizens were in fear at the virtual police state the country was in, but this wore off after the first two weeks. However, the economy has been suffering as high level officials up to even the President himself seem incapable to handle the Lasian economy. The new tax structure which President Fu was pushing for collapsed before it even hit the country. A tangled mess that was brazen with loopholes and effectively would make taxes for corporations and military personnel 0%. Public backlash has been high, and the President is anxiously deploying troops to simmer down the discomfort. Regulations are all but gone, allowing children under the age of 5 to be sold for as less as $10 to sweatshops for practically slave labor. The entire structure of Lasir is falling to its knees. New protectionist tariffs are hurting the country's chance of a higher gdp, and trade deals proposed by the former government have been shut down. Furthermore, the military has begun to fight amongst itself, with rising tensions between the army and navy. As our once beloved country falls down the slippery slope of doom, we can only stare in horror as we pray for redemption.

Taipei Palace in the Province of Taiwan, is the birthplace of modern Songjiang it is here that the Imperialist were defeated though it is true they fought on for another month they were ultimately doomed when the navy, marines and communist rebels captured the palace and the island.

It seems fitting that this place be memorialized for what it represents. the end of a 1,000 year long dynasty built on assumptions that leadership is a birthright and not a privilege.

Its been more than a year since the Emperor and gathered nobles were captured during the princesses birthday celebration and our nation has grown stronger since that time with the government putting great efforts into modernizing our nation, and creating jobs.

As part of the museum an exhibit of the remaining treasures seized from the monarchs, and nobles will be on display as well until a more suitable home can be found for them so they can be viewed by the public.

President Gaona met with the Lachien ambassador this morning. The palace released a statement stating the meeting was productive but failed to outline what the meeting was about. The presidential primary still goes on for the conservative party with the race heating up. Henry Bowman, the conservative front runner, who's parents are both immigrants from Britannia, has been under fire this past week. A women by the name of Christilita Yormeriz admitted to news stations across the country that when she was 16 and Senator bowman was 18 she fell pregnant. She quoted Bowman saying "Please get a abortion, you know my parents will disown me and my career will be over before it's even started." Bowman and Yormetiz attended the same school at the time and she released records of a abortion she received but if Bowman was involved is unknown. Bowman's poll numbers have for sure taken a hit with him dropping from 59% down to 54%. He has refused all accusations.

New Budget Changes

The Department of War's budget will increase by 5% of the overall government budget every year until FY1993. By FY1993 the DoW spending will reach $66,900,000,000. This new budget will be put towards better training and equipment for Texan Forces so that we may adapt to the ever changing world we live in. Training will be redesigned to adapt to more modern warfare, including more intense and up to date urban warfare tactics. We will also update troop knowledge on the new equipment this budget increase will also help develop and purchase. Along with upgrading the equipment already in our arsenal. this is part of a two stage plan that has Songjiang delivering some thousand older model tanks and APC's still in the armies possession but not in use to the nation to bolster its defenses and allow them to maintain a smaller more effective army.

Democracy returns to Lasir; Mass scale reforms announced
Fixing labor laws and decreasing military size first on the list

On October 15, 1990, the military announced that it redrew all control of the government and would have the people establish a new government in return. The mysterious event was only a day after the presidential palace was bombed by unknown entities, killing many senior officials, including the president, inside. The new People's Republic of Lasir is being headed by Premier Ratri Bunnag until the first elections, in 2 months time, takes place. The new Constitution lays out a new government that is a mix of a representative and direct democracy. The unilateral congress, called the National People's Assembly, consists of 246 seats that are voted in via proportional representation. Each representative serves a term of 4 years, which corresponds with the Presidents. There is no upper house, with congress being checked by the President. The President is elected by a first-past-the-post system, and also serves for a term of 4 years. The executive branch is headed by the Cabinet, which the President oversees and appoints. The president is both the head of state and the head of government. If need be, the Assembly can impeach the president if they gather a 3/4 majority. A national referendum will also take place, requiring a 2/3 majority of the people as well. The judicial branch is headed by the Supreme Court, which is given the power of judicial review, allowing it to judge laws whether they are constitutional or not. Judges are appointed to lifetime by the president with approval of Congress. The first elections for the People's Republic of Lasir will take place on December 3.

The people are given the right to referendum, to make sure the government's power doesn't get too out of hand. If a citizen acquires 50,000 votes within a period of 180 days, they can request a national referendum to null a law that Congress may have passed. The NPA is allowed to offer a counter-proposal, in which on the ballot during the referendum the people can decide to null the law, leave it as it is, or select the counter-proposal. If a citizen can acquire 130,000 votes within a period of 18 months, they can draft an amendment to the constitution and send it to Congress. Congress is not allowed to reword the amendment, but may offer a counter-proposal which might be better worded or fight the country better. In such a scenario, a national referendum will take place in which the people can vote for the original proposal, or Congress's counter-proposal. Additionally, any law that might change the lives of the Lasian people must go through a national referendum, winning by simple majority.

Premier Bunnag has announced two new major changes, one which will have to pass referendum, as a beginning of a so-called dynamic mass reform. He said in a statement this morning:

In order to make sure our country is never vulnerable to a military coup again, I am decreasing the size of the military to 980,000 active personnel. In addition, the ban on citizen ownership of firearms will be lifted. Citizens will now have the availability to buy semi-automatic pistols and some minor sub machine guns. The military, while needed for the defense of our country, has shown that even itself is vulnerable to corruption. Decreasing the size of the military will also decrease the financial burden on the Lasian government as we prepare ourselves for mass-scale economic reform. Therefore, my second action I would like to make will be a mass-scale economic reform, banning child labor, slavery, and the sale of human beings. This was an atrocious act caused by the weakness of the old dictatorship, one we will not allow in our new nation. Our nation is founded upon the belief that all individuals shall receive freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of expression, and the right to find happiness. I can tell you, these children are not happy. Slavery is now an act punishable by up to a lifetime sentence in prison for any person who holds another human being against their will. All such personnel are immediately ordered to return these children to their parents, or if unavailable, to the state, where they shall live in relative comfort until we can find them somewhere to stay. The Lasian National Police Force will be conducting a nationwide investigation in order to root out any scum who still refuse us. All children now must be of the age 15 or older in order to be employed by businesses, and such a contract must also be signed by the legal parent or guardian.

The Military Disarmament Act (or MDA) will have to pass a national referendum, though it is easy to see that the majority of people will vote in favor. Excess equipment is to be stockpiled, and the government has announced a variety of plans in order to help the unemployed veterans to find new jobs. It seems that Lasir is once again on a steady path to stability and happiness.

In other news, several political parties and candidates for the presidency have sprung up. So far, the left-wing Rykovian Socialist Union (RSU), central Lasian Center Party (LCP), centre-right Conservative Party of Lasir (CPL), and the far-right nationalist movement Lasir First (LF) have gathered a considerable following. In terms of the presidency, multiple candidates have shown up, but the polls show that its a close race between LCP candidate Ratana Sangsorn and Lasir First candidate Yahaya bin Senin. Sangsorn currently leads the polls by 57.8% to bin Senin's 42.2%, but who knows what could happen. Sangsorn has announced that she will try to seek major consensus in all things and try to bridge the gap with all parties in Congress, but bin Senin has announced very nationalistic ideas such as reduced immigration and protectionist tariffs. The following is a list of major observations and operations that have occured in the past month:


1. Selective allocation of fuel has seen a strong decrease of belligerent activity in urban centers. Rural areas remain more or less unchanged.
2. Excessive applicants from belligerent states have applied to join federal positions. All applicants will be treated as people of interest until more evidence is gathered. None have been accepted as a temporary precaution.
3. Radio and print propaganda has been traced and its source destroyed. Belligerent actors seem to be manufacturing fake news stories to tarnish the Federation. All captured suspects will be subject to advanced interrogation before being executed.
4. Existing agents from belligerent states have been displaying unprecedented work ethic and loyalty to the Federation. All 45 junior agents and 76 contractors will be placed under paid leave until we can identify if they're attempting to exonerate themselves from investigation or if the rise in productivity is due to unrelated factors (possible increase in performance due to the holidays arriving).
5. Agents have observed limited contact with bordering states from belligerent areas. Additional measures will be taken to identify potential malicious activity.
6. Locals in belligerent states have begun creating positive self investment in the region. A new wave of propaganda will ensure that their effort is credited to the Federation's generosity. Should any involved deny the claims then they will be jailed for defamation of the Federation.
7. Scheduled road maintenance to belligerent states is to be halted until further notice. Maintenance funds will be diverted to increasing local police wages and Pro-Federation propaganda.

The 14 Alician citizens, who have been in Occitanian custody for the past month, have been released. After Secretary of State Eliza Cortez sat through two negotiation meetings she managed to strike a deal leading to the soldiers release. The state department released video and photographs of the families reuniting and the Secretary embracing the families. Support for Cortez to run for president has kept growing but when asked if she will run she deflects saying her job is to support Alicia abroad and President Gaona.

The government of Alicia has offered year long work visas and government housing to citizens of Lasir to come work in the mines. President Gaona stood his ground on the issue stating that the program has the potential to grow Alicia's economy. Senator Henry Bowman and Conservative primary front runner called upon the president saying he was giving jobs away to foreigners instead of the Alician people.

Miller Wins Primaries, Prepares to Take on Steinburg

Despite a brief controversy involving campaign finances the Miller campaign won the NCP primaries in a landslide, getting almost 90% of the vote. After yesterday's election, the Union Party's 15 year reign upon the Presidency and two houses. Emilio Santangel, the relatively young leader of the National Libertarian Party, has become president with a majority of the vote, after the GLN and PNT. The full polling results are below.

Last night, November 17, Ratri Bunnag won the presidential election in a landslide victory against LCP candidate Ratana Sangsorn by 73.2% to Sangsorn's 26.8%. Premier Bunnag was a familiar eye to the people, as one of the main advocates against the recent military dictatorship which our Songjiangian friends helped topple. Serving as the acting Premier of Lasir helped increase his image in the public eye. He ran on a platform of wide scale economic and social reform, with plans to develop trade agreements with nations world-wide and to increase the living conditions of many Lasians. He also firmly believed in a strong alliance with Songjiang and Pavlovsk, our socialist brothers in arms, to further help advance Lasir economically. He said in a statement this morning,

I am extremely grateful that the Lasian people chose me to be their ruler. As Premier of Lasir, I know the people come first, and it is they who I intend to serve. As soon as the new government gets settled in I will be arranging talks with Congress in order to pass some of my flagship bills. Increasing the minimum wage, universal health care, and lower taxes to help the brilliant people of Lasir will be coming sooner than you think. Comrades, together we shall prosper, but do not forget the tragedy that division brings.

In Congress, the 246 seats have been divvied up into the following:
86 seats have been awarded to the Rykovian Socialist Union.
73 seats have been awarded to the Lasian Center Party
54 seats have been awarded to the Conservative Party of Lasir
15 seats have been awarded to the Lasir First movement
11 seats have been awarded to the Green Party.
and 7 seats have been awarded to the Lasian Libertarian Party.
Already parties have been announcing plans to make joint-collective to increase the chances of passing their legislation. The RSU and LCP have decided to form an alliance, effectively placing them in control of the Congress. It is unlikely that any right-wing bills will be passed soon.

In other news, amidst the industrial development of Lasir, Premier Bunnag is announcing plans to focus industry in the Central Alidat region. He proposed that instead of trying to slowly bring our entire country through an industrial revolution, it would be more effective to focus on one area at a time. Alidatia will become the new industrial capital of Lasir, while the more rural regions will continue to focus on mining and agriculture. Bunnag also hinted at the idea of creating Lasir's own five-year-plan, and is considering giving subsidies to all Lasian industries to encourage growth.

Admiral Wang Xian Jun New Commander of the 1st Fleet

At 84 years old Admiral Cao Hong is retiring from the navy and national politics. He is being replaced by Admiral Wang Xian Jun formerly Captain of the Carrier Hǎilóng.
Cao Hong has made public his displeasure with his replacement stating he will ruin the fleet. His objections seem to have fallen on deaf ears back in Beijing.
Admiral Wang Xian Jun has a somewhat short but prestigious career before receiving command of the carrier Hǎilóng, he commanded the Yukan class landing ship Zǎoshang xià yǔ during the capture of the emperor and most of the nobility during this he led the marine forces as they captured the palace and became the de-facto commander of the ground operations.
He is a known opponent of the current ban on women in the Navy citing that the old myth that women are bad luck at sea needs to die, and that the navy needs to follow the Air force in embracing a new age.
Admiral Cao Hong's dislike for him as a choice is likely do to his dislike at the idea of women in the Navy, unfortunately for Cao Hog Chairman Huang Xiaoming has ideals more inline with Wang Xian Jun having instituted the policy for women in the air-force while he was in command of the Imperial Air Force.

     While we here at the Congress of Development tend to work outside areas of official government oversight in our persecute of developing the Central East Region,
we have found a situation where it would be in both of our best interests to develop. As the Booker Sisters from Geneva, Nebraska have started the aviation advancement
within the Federation, that culture has never really left the region of the central east and the means to preserve the legacy of aviation falling into disrepair within the region
has been tragic. As such we have gotten a large number of suggestions to create aviation schools to help revive this culture however that is far outside of our jurisdiction as
a charity. Thus, we would like to request the creation of an aviation school within Geneva and potentially other areas of the region.

The Lasirian Ministry of Commerce and Industry would like to inform you of the recent sale of multiple companies and the introduction of selective sector subsidies, as well as a new government operated fund:
-The Lasirian government allocates $1.7Bn in subsidies to the petroleum industry.
-The Lasirian government sells off 38% of state-owned petroleum corporation Lasipetrol's shares in an initial public offering to various private firms for a total of $9.2Bn.
-$1Bn will go to Lasipetrol in order to fund better infrastructure and development of new gas mines and oil fields.
-The Lasirian government allocates $1.5Bn to the arms manufacturing industry, main beneficiaries are Dhong Weapons Tech, Rhuin Defense Firm, and Dunnag Arms Co.
-The Lasirian government will grant tax credits to any arms manufacturing companies that express their interest to build arms factories in Lasir.
-$400Mn is allocated to Lasirian Ministry of Defense R&D department in order to develop new prototypes for guns, tanks, etc.
-$1Bn will be split amongst the Ministries in the form of increased budget.
-The remaining $6.4Bn will be put in a fund to use for infrastructure development
-All citizens will receive an increase of 3% in income taxes in order to better fund government projects, bringing the total to 32%.
