I hear that John Kasich is probably going to run as an independent. He has some pretty scathing words for the republicans apparently saying that if the party can’t be fixed he won’t support it.

Good riddance imo, Kasich supports all the worst parts of the GOP with none of the redeeming aspects that at least make some Republicans bearable.

I'm honestly conflicted between Bernie-Friend Warren and San Antonio native Castro.

Support for gun rights, not being an uber social conservative, protectionist trade policy etc. Stuff that's at least decent about some Republicans and sadly all things that Kasich does not do.

Klobuchar would honestly be the best bet at this point. Yo Dems, you wanted a female president? There ya go.

Yeah no

I do think Trump will win over the entire rust belt, as his economic policies (mainly tax reform) improved businesses in the area greatly, and I do think he will turn Illinois red by a slight margin, maybe even Minnesota. I think the main 2020 battlegrounds will be Colorado and New Mexico
The odds of Trump winning Illinois are 0 unless Democrats manage to somehow blow it worse than 2016. It's more Democratic than Minnesota because of Chicago - huge and heavily blue.

As for Elizabeth Warren, I like her, but I'm not confident that she could win. Hillary probably (and hopefully) won't even run.

Atheris wrote:I would be fine with Klobuchar running, she aligns with my politics pretty good. Unfortunately, she probably won't.

She just doesn't do it for me, but I do understand the electability argument may favor her. It's not going to be inspiring for the progressive wing of the party, as I think the single payer health care issue will be a big deal in the primaries, and she isn't behind it. She'd probably have to face off against Joe Biden to be the centrist contender, too.

I think single-payer is ideal but multi-payer may be the best option for America since we already have quality private insurance.
In a way multi-payer allows the best of both worlds, accessibility, quality, and choice.

I prefer the German model where the government pays about 60% of the bill with private companies picking up the rest
