What is the last movie you've seen? Part 2

[Transformers Franchise]

The last movie I saw was Vice. I thought it was a very good movie. It does a great job of making Cheney a complex and nuanced character while not pulling punches with some of the things he did. I also learned a lot about the Bush administration. This movie absolutely deserves an award for make up at the least.

Before that I saw Bumblebee. It’s predictable and the human characters are all 80’s movie stereotypes, but the movie has a lot of heart and really focuses on making you actually care about them. The action is well done, and you can actually see what’s happening because there isn’t so much shaky cam and EXPLOSIONS.

Pandorum - one of those fairly recent films where the dialogue is incomprehensible mumbling, most of the action also took place in the dark. Couldn't follow whatever was supposed to be going on.

I decided to sit through Noah movie with Russell Crowe and it felt like suddenly I was in world where Biblical stories didn't exist as part of Millennium old faiths and instead Story of Noah was a fantasy book penned by some 2000/2010 author.

Feels like its getting more critical acclaim than it deserves; A Quiet Place did it first, and arguably better, as the lack of sound made for 'hold-your-breath' edge of your seat tension the whole time. The simple fact is, more people are seeing Bird Box because its on netflix, and people couldn't be assed to see a Quiet Place at the cinema so they don't understand that its been done before and doesn't deserve this 'pioneering' credit.

The Incredibles 2. I enjoyed it, and the animation is fantastic. I think the villain wasn't anywhere near as good as Syndrome in the first one, even though I can tell they tried. Surprisingly, I like this one more than the first one even though I see more flaws in this one. I guess a "perfect" movie is harder to like than a very good but occasionally flawed movie. If I had to give it a rating, I'd give it a 7/10.

So Mary Poppins and co. try to "turn back time" (that is, turn the Big Ben back five minutes) to prevent the Banks family from losing their house to the bank on the Friday midnight deadline. Mary Poppins watches as this bunch of lamplighters dangerously scale the tower with a whole stack of ladders in the dead of night... after which she just calmly flies up to the clock with her umbrella and turns it back herself. I just sat there thinking, "SERIOUSLY, YOU COULDN'T HAVE DONE THAT, LIKE, TEN MINUTES AGO?!"

I also saw this movie last and also...yeah. What the fuck.

I guess they needed to turn the light off so no one would see the clock go backwards and only the lamplighters could possibly? I don't know. I spent the entire scene going, "But this chick can fly. It's like her signature shtick!"

I think I would have enjoyed it more if I was more into the original? Maybe not. Other issues:

No one in the cameo is going, "You know, you look a lot like this dude's dad" since whatshisname was playing dude's kid.

Also the message appears to be 'nothing is impossible as long as your relatives have left you a sizable investment, so chin up. You might have a rich uncle that will bail you out of your shit with the help of a magical nanny.'

Also, clearly wanted to build a movie around Manuel but wrapped him in a giant property instead. Pretty sure he had more songs than the character with her name on the poster.

So, a few minutes ago I returned home from Escape Room, a decently made but nevertheless shite film, for reasons that I'll get to later. To start, I admit that my expectations for this film were abysmally low; and I was surprised by how decent most of the first two acts were. But the third act was, to be frank, an incomprehensible mess that made no damn sense whatsoever. The acting in this film was almost good at times, given what the actors had to work with, and with a better script they'd have nailed it. The film is paced in a mediocre fashion that I've seen in hundreds of films before; in fact, they plot of the film involves the main characters moving from setpiece to setpiece. Speaking of plot, the film falls apart during the third act, and the remainder of the film feels as confusing as Jaws: The Revenge; the last scene in the film is setting up a sequel, and overall it's as if I'm merely watching half of a film. In short, this film sucks: the third act ruins everything.

Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade. Watched for the second time, and it was better than I remembered.
