greetings. to know, how does shutdown work? which is the decision about what facilities work and what don t, and that makes how large part of them?

if it is real, then is great. in my country, there is nothing quite as this (it means the public spending goes, whatever licit or not, while it has been voted, or not).

There are articles available on most major news sites that list the specific departments that are closed, but it includes (but not limited to): the IRS, national parks, and housing. Payment of salary for some other departments will also be delayed.

Have there been any studies as to whether a wall as Trump proposes is effective?

There is already a vast network of tunnels, and I heard there is this futuristic invention called the ladder.

Even if Trump got a wall of metal spikes like he wants, then he runs into the problem that the entire border is not flat terrain, so a wall from end to end is a geographic impossibility. That is, unless he wants to build the wall further inland, thus ceding American land to Mexico.

We don't need a study to see what a stupid waste of time and money this would be.

It's almost as if nobody knew that building a wall could be so complicated.

The Rio Grande is somewhat of a death trap. A lot of these illegals don't know how to swim well, but attempt to traverse the Rio Grande anyway. Many of them drown. I read a story a few days ago about how a Border Agent risked his own life saving one of the idiots from drowning in the middle of the night.

And there is clear historical precedent of being able to do it as well. The Inner German Border and Berlin Wall had several sections that intersected the Elbe, the Saale, and the Werra, and most of the time the solution was just a combination of placing the wall on the nearest stable riverbank on the East German side, and using boats to patrol the rest of the territory "sacrificed" to make the barrier feasible.
