Industrial and Provident Societies Act

Government legislation to change the current economic modality of the nation.
Summary page:
• The banning of all labour strikes
• The forced closure of Labour Unions. Labour Union Offices to be raided and funds to be appropriated as the Government desires.
• To create the Ministry of Labour, which will now determine and protect the rights of workers. Furthermore, the ministry of Labour will oversee the new public works.
• The creation of Public works to create economic stimulation and to greatly reduce unemployment while also decreasing the welfare sectors burden. Citizens who will be used for the Public works will be the Unemployed, Vagrants as well as any volunteers. Citizens undergoing scheme shall receive £12,230 a year with free meals, accommodation and healthcare.

• Use of Military personnel (Royal Engineers) to create and build new infrastructure and to train citizens under going the Public works scheme to create a militarised workforce.
• Labour Camps to be constructed for those undergoing the public work scheme. Architectural design will be based on temporary military barracks and compounds.
Cabinet Evaluation - Confidential
The aim of this new legislation is to decrease the size of the social welfare sector of the state while mobilising the nation. Joint military and police operations will be used in the surprise raids of Labour Union offices. Military personnel will be used to coordinate the scheme. Due to legislation the government is expecting initial shock from public opinion. However, decreasing power of trade unions over the years and anti-communist sympathy within the state indicates that public order should not see a large decrease.

      General Secretary Recognizes YSM

Following the summit in Chekhov, Secretary General Gorbachad has declared an executive decision to recognize the Yahelian Socialist Movement as the legitimate government of Yahel. The decision comes from the General Secretary's office after a long series of debates in the State Committee led to no formal vote, frustrating both Committee members and the General Secretary.

The recognition of the YSM as the legitimate government of Yahel has also included a denunciation of the Yahelian Monarchy, and also calls upon other nations to follow the FPRP's lead in giving recognition to the new government.

The recent summit discussing the legitimacy of the YSM's government seemed to turn the tides greatly in their favour. With the recognition from Pavlovsk and Japan, the YSM was able to garner enough power to lock down their occupied space and even push further into monarchy lands. Furthermore, the monarchy denunciation from Pavlovsk had turned the monarchy on its self. Several key figures as well as a portion of the military surrendered to the YSM and pleaded to join the movement. All of these events combined forced the Monarchy to stand down, allowing for the YSM to gain full legitimate control over the nation. With the rise of the new government, a workers council has been formed to ensure the stability of the region. At this time Benaiah Yashenkelstein has been enstated into power. The council came together and decided that "The Empire of Yahel" is no longer suitable for the nation, and through some deliberation, the name of the nation has been changed to "The New Republic of Yahel". Forces have already gone to work repairing damaged infrastructure and repairing international relations.

      Image

Following the crackdown in Nebraska, a large number of protests have begun across Kansas refusing to transport food to any states in the Federation, excluding Kansas itself and its fellow Heartland states of Nebraska and Missouri. These protests being organized by members and supporters of the New Minutemen Movement as well Farm Union members. The halting of food transports is likely to create a large amount of panic among less agriculturally inclined states, whose residents are now fearing a food shortage.

On Saturday in Madrid, Aliciam, a car bomb inside a parked car outside of the Aliciam Senate went off, injuring presidential candidate Senator Henry Bowman. The Senator suffered a large laceration on his shoulder, and is reportedly in stable condition in Madrid University Hospital. Local police report that the perpetrator of the attack is still unknown and possibly at large, and have requested a Federal agency start an investigation into the bombing.

BREAKING NEWS FROM CAPITAL MADRID

Earlier Today an explosive device located in a car parked outside the Senate building detonated injuring six civilians and Senator Henry Bowman, who just announced his presidential bid. Everyone is reported stable including the senator except for 86 year old Alba Unzu. Alba Unzus family released a statement saying "Alba was a women who loved her country and was probably Senator Bowman's biggest supporter." Her family formerly stated the only reason she was at the senates building today was to catch a glimpse of who she wanted to be her grandchildren's next President.
The President released a statement only a couple hours later stating "Whoever performed this attack on our nations capitol will be brought to justice. This person, nation, or people are the scums of this earth." He also ended his statement by wishing the senator a speedy recovery and stating "Although Senator Bowman and i may not see eye to eye, he is a citizen of this great nation and shares the love i have for it. He and his family will be in my prayers."

The motive behind the attack is unknown but the President has put the National Central Intelligence agency over the investigation. Chairman of the NCIA released a statement stating "The department is using all its resources to find who committed this awful act and we are confident we can come to a conclusion soon."

Queen Mary also held a conference stating that the events disgusted her. She also disclosed she had spoken with the President and they mutually agreed to place the Ministry of Defence on high alert but that the citizens of Aliciam should not panic its only a precautionary measure. In accordance with the High Alert, The new naval base in Toluca have increased patrols in the gulf and have increased trade escorts.

In response to Tolucan challenge Barnetia clamors to assemble a football team, an aspect of government that the junta overlooked after rebelling from Iscaria. • National liberation front receiving increasing support for the Rykovians. • Minesweeper ported to Gameboy, creator says "screw you Tetris" in opening speech.

Presidential Candidate Reprimands Tolucan Policy Inconsistencies

Self-described "Libertarian Nationalist" Presidential Candidate Raphael Machado gave a stern speech regarding Toluca when the question was brought up at an election rally. He said as quoted:
The Tolucan Politician is a most vile kind of creature, in that he does not care for his nation, or his people, but rather for self-gain in a warped individualistic view of conquest.
Machado proceeded to grab a copy of Tolucan newspaper El Diario, reading the minor stories.
'Ciceron under fire for not knowing the capital of Santa Rosa, Union party higher-up resigns after sexual harassment claims.' There are so many bits of Toluca's incompetence in rulership shining through these headlines, packaged on the top of government policy articles and ridiculous accusations against Barnetia so as not to disturb the complicit public. However, Toluca's motives grow more sinister once an examination of their foreign policy is in place.
The candidate then pulled out a different Tolucan newspaper, a letter written in an oriental language, and an atlas. He proceeded.
Montego, centered in the port city of Kingston, is a presidential dictatorship in the Caribbean, one which Barnetia is not particularly close with. Recently, the Tolucan government has warmed up relations with Montego, attempting to 'bridge proper relations'. This move rubs off as a cynical and ruthless expansion attempt of the Tolucan sphere. Toluca is a self-proclaimed Federal Presidential Constitutional Republic. WHY THE HECK IS A NATION SO DEMOCRATIC THAT IT CAME UP WITH A CUSTOM TITLE FOR IT'S DEMOCRACY ASSOCIATING WITH A DICTATORSHIP THAT NOT ONLY DEPRIVES IT'S CITIZENS OF RIGHTS BUT GOES UNDER THE GUISE OF PRESIDENCY WHILE DOING SO.
Raphael, having stunned the audience, paused for a moment to chuckle and drink a glass of water before continuing his rant more quietly.
      Is it money?
It's money. However, this could perhaps be forgiven as a simple example of Realpolítica if not for Toluca abuses not only in the BN-47's crash, but also general problems with Barnetian sovereignty. Japan is a rather technocratic state centered around Z Corporation, the producer of the Gameboy. Recently, due to certain Barnetian people's gestures, they have guaranteed our independence. Toluca, sensing a sliver of power being given to it's enemy, pounced, claiming it as 'imperialistic' and saying Japan had 'no right' to offer a gesture of camaraderie. On one side, Toluca being a little bit expansionist in the vein of Texas is fine. On the other side, Toluca being a human rights defender akin to the United Pacific is fine. However, when they hop between both like an opportunistic bipolar mental patient then it becomes an issue.
The speechgiver then whispered something to an aide, receiving yet another Tolucan magazine and a map of the Caribbean region.
However, Toluca has crossed the line with it's final offense. Toluca, due to it's reckless nationalism, refuses to cooperate with Barnetia to find the missing passenger plane BN-47. 47 took off from our beautiful Tegucigalpa International Airport, aiming to reach Gettysburg. It never reached the target and was declared lost at sea. Many parties have theories as to what happened, with our very own tinfoil hat society helping in the search. However, Toluca refuses to cooperate with Barnetia over finding the plane because they claim we pose a security threat. Their reasoning? They don't know the disappearances nature. Everybody knows the nature! It was flying, it never reached the target, and a smaller plane flew behind it. If Toluca knows this they should either cut off relations with everyone or cooperate with Barnetia. otherwise they have ulterior motives. If they don't know this information, I have grave doubts as towards their leadership ability. And this incompetence, this idiocy, this opportunism, embodies the nation of Toluca.
The candidate stopped giving a debaters pose and looked straight at the camera for a chilling conclusion:
Mr. Ciceron. If you're watching this. Fix your nation. Quit the antagonism. The world is tired of your shenanigans. And we meet again. Some dreary day.
Machado then took a long sip out of his water bottle and collapsed on the floor to a standing ovation. Poll numbers have been going crazy, regionally in every which-way. How will this affect the election? Only time will tell.

New Federal Budget

Following the Industrial and Provident Societies Act, the government has seen fit to adjust the budget in the nation to further increase economic capabilities. Reports form the HM Treasury displays that the government has cut total spending from 44% of total GDP to 40% of total GDP. Reduced spending will come from decreasing the welfare sector as well as the NHS and further scrutiny on government agencies spending to ensure tax payers money is being spent correctly. Moreover, once the budget has decreased the government will simplify the tax code and close loop holes.

However, the government will also be giving tax cuts targeted at the middle and higher classes, as well as slightly decreasing the VAT and reducing the small business tax. The government aims to increase economic growth through the tax cuts and reduce need for government intervention into the economy.

Furthermore, once the government expenditure has been decreased military expenditure will be increased from 9% of the federal budget to 10%. This is due to the Industrial and Provident Societies Act in which the military is now being used to help build and plan infrastructure throughout the nation.

The major goal of the new budget is to increase economic growth and decrease government intervention into the economy. Rumours from the HM Treasury also indicate that the government may be privatising large amount of stocks in state owned enterprises. Over the next six months the new budget updates will slowly be implemented to create a smooth transition.

Today's breaking news by Noticias de Katrina

Gibraltar is no longer under Aliciam control and has been sold to Japan for $40 Billion. At the Senate building today the Senate spokesperson stated " The money has already been put to great use. To start $25 Billion will go to revamping our military strength and getting everything up to date and advanced, Senator Gendomoz pushed for education bonuses and secured $10 billion to go to educational programs, some of the money will go to preK programs while the majority will go to college assistance and benefits, the last $5 Billion will go to infrastructure repair and improving. This spending can be changed at a later date but for now is being spent on those three branches." The terms to the agreement between the Queen and Japan is unknown but sources are saying it consisted of the $40 billion has well as a full military alliance. Could Aliciam be preparing for war?

Senator Bowman left the hospital today and on departure said "Our Campaign will not fail and will keep going. I'm feeling much better and should be back on the trail in the coming weeks. I cannot wait to be your next President." Current polls show the President gaining 53% of the vote to Bowman gaining 47% if the election was to be held today. Neither currently have a challenger in the primary."

We should be getting an update about the investigation shortly.

Tolucan Oil Tanker tips near Panama
      Image

This morning, a few miles away from the city of Colón, Barnetia, an oil tanker owned by the Tolucan oil company "Royale Oil Group" was reported to have to have spilled after exiting the canal. According to Royale Oil Group, as the tanker was exiting the Panama Canal, it was pushed off it's course by the current, and ran into a group of rocks which punctured the hull of the ship, causing oil to spill into the sea. After the ship hit the rocks, it was assisted by Barnetian patrol tugboats to be grounded, and all crew was able to disembark safely. The tanker was reportedly carrying approximately 45,000 tonnes of crude oil, however the amount which was spilled is currently unknown.

Barnetian coast guard has begun small clean-up efforts, however, their efforts have mainly been on the shore where the tanker was grounded.

BREAKING NEWS IN ALICIA

The NCIA held a press conference today with breaking news about the recent bombing in Alicia's capital, Madrid. In collaboration with the British Government the NCIA revealed they had a suspect in custody. The head of the NCIA stated in a press release today that "We are happy to announce, we have the suspect behind Madrid's capital bombing in custody. At this time we are not releasing any names but the suspect is a 32 year old man from Occitania. At this time we are not sure if he worked for the Government or was a member of a Occitanian terrorist group. Once we get those details we will be sure to let you know."
Occitania is the birthplace of the Queen mother and has been subject to claims from all branches of Government in Alicia.

So far the President has stayed silent on the recent outcome of the investigation, however Senator Bowman released a statement thanking the Queen, the British Government, and the whole NCIA.

A recent oil spill off the coast of Barnetia has prompted environmentalist to call upon Alicia to lead the effort to help clean up the mess. So far President Coover ordered boats out of the Alician naval base, located in Toluca, to help clean the ocean.

Government legalizes opium; announces subsidies for agricultural businesses; proposes infrastructure revitalization project.
President Jaishyn assures that the government will make sure no opioid epidemic takes place.

Opium has now been legalized, thanks to the passing of the Opium Re-Legalization Act (or ORLA). President Jaishyn has assured the people this morning that the government will make sure that the Haze of 1855 doesn't happen again. The Haze of 1855 happened when the archaic monarchy introduced opium to the masses in order to quell rising dissent amongst several prominent socialist movements. It ended up in the death of some estimated 3 million people due to overdoses. Jaishyn said in a statement this morning:
The Opium Re-Legalization Act will bring much needed economic growth to our country. The sad but true news is the majority of the people who live in Lasir live in poverty, especially in the plantations, paddies, and farms. We have learned our lesson from the Haze of 1855 and have introduced proper regulations to make sure an epidemic does not happen again. The Department of Health will receive increased funding in order to work with the opium industry to resolve any damage that may be caused by the mass production of opium. Many critics may say that we are turning Lasir into a drug state, but we are bringing Lasir to a much brighter future. With the economic growth that is projected to come as a result of this bill, we can begin to focus on the issues that really plague our great nation: illiteracy, industrialization, and infrastructure. I hope you will trust me and stand with me on this. Together, we make Lasir greater than ever before.

To accompany the Opium Re-Legalization Act, the government has begun to introduce farming subsidies. Individual farmers and corporations are now being financially helped to increase efficiency in the hopes that the Lasian people will benefit from them. As a spokesperson from the Department of Agriculture said:
Helping one another is like a domino effect. You start at the bottom, helping the farmers out. It works its way up to the commercial sector, who sells the food. More food decreases costs allowing stores to buy more and consumers to eat more. When we all help one another, we all become stronger.

The government hopes that with the new money farmers will be incentivized to buy more land, newer and better equipment, and more seeds.
In other news, the Lasir Rhus has announced a new bill that will turn 8000 kilometers of dirt road into 2 lane paved highway. It is expected that because of the limited amount of the road available, the paved road will be constructed between major financial and cultural centers. Representatives are currently brainstorming for possible ways to accumulate the $18Bn needed, with some suggesting a cut in the military. This would go well with President Jaishyn's rhetoric, as he has long been a critic of Lasir's overwhelming but ultimately unneeded military.

National Libs see rise in polling • Unemployment steadily declining • Ciceron urges foreign corporatiosn to: "tap into Toluca's vast labour market"

      Toluca vs. Barnetia
Last night's presidential debate drew many issues and problems facing Toluca into the presidential candidates question. Candidates were asked about Toluca's on going drug issues, poverty, corruption and foreign policy. However, among all of these, one of the most important issues the candidates were asked about was the on going and heightening tensions between Toluca and Barnetia, arguably the most intense national rivalry on the planet.

Esteban Ciceron of the Union Party, Victoria Colazzo of the Liberal Party and Emilio Santángel of the National Libertarian Party were asked the question: "How do you intend to deal with Barnetia and the issues between them and Toluca?"

Ciceron's response was in line with his typical rhetoric which some opponents have described as "almost national-socialist":
Barnetia is a despicable nation that is propped up by others. It's a nation that stands on the international community who pities it. It has two things to offer: the Panama Canal and Bananas. We need to ensure our military is up to scratch as to not be pushed around by this nation, if you can call it that. The politicians of Barnetia need to know that Toluca is the superior nation.

      Next was Colazzo's response:
Sure, it's important to make sure that we are a secure nation but it isn't worth enflaming the tensions more. We all need to put down our guns and forgive each other. Collaboration between the two countries could even be achieved!

Needless to say, Colazzo has come under fire for her "weak and pitiful" response.

      Finally, Santángel's response:
Look, as much as we would all love to hold hands and frolic in the meadows with each other, the world, and international relations, aren't that simple. There are real military, economic, cultural and political problems between our two nations. We shouldn't always have our guns aimed over the border, but we can't pretend like those issues don't exist. It is safe to say however that yes, Barnetia is Toluca's most immediate threat and we do need to keep our military capable, not only for Barnetia but for Toluca's security as a whole.

All three have faced criticism but overall, Santángel's response has had the greatest impact, establishing faith in him despite his young age and bolstering their position in the polls.

The CEO as well as the owner of the group, Matt Svensson, has announced that nothing will change as a result of the agreement and has confessed to accepting an offer of "well" 5 milliard lower to ensure that the jobs remain within the country.

On the other side of the globe, another subsidiary of the Sven Group, SS Transports, announced the purchase of the Port of Manzanillo, in the state of Barnetia, for 400 million dollars. The shipping company's CEO also announced a $ 500 million port expansion plan aimed at turning Manzanillo into the main connecting port between North and South America.

The negative opinions are very likely linked to the false rumors implying that behind the cases of animals torn to pieces in the area there would be two Mbalesian students undergoing the clinical test.

Government announces mass-scale infrastructure revitalization project; mobilizes military as public workforce
Over 100,000 kilometers of road to be upgraded

The previously discussed bill in Congress which had at first suggested only 8000 kilometers of road to be upgraded has been expanded to a massive goal of 100,000 kilometers of paved two lane highway to be developed. The bill has been named the Infrastructure Development Project (or IDP) and has been signed by President Jaishyn earlier this morning. President Jaishyn and his party, the LSDU, have bombarded Lasir with mass scale economic reforms and industrial projects in order to bring Lasir up to speed with the western world. The bill comes just a day after the Opium Re-Legalization Act, which sparked controversy amongst the country's conservatives as a blatant goal of turning Lasir into a drug state. The IDP has also been criticized by conservative groups as "a lofty goal of which we do not have the money nor manpower to complete." The plan would cost us an estimated $260Bn, which is almost triple the cost of Lasir's current GDP: $93Bn. In order to avoid spending costs on wages for workers, the government has instead decided to mobilize the 3,500,000 men and women in our army, navy, and airforce to help build the project instead. President Jaishyn said in a statement this morning:
The $260Bn needed to finance this project may seem daunting, but it will be worth it in the long run. Our GDP will be growing at an exponential rate, and $93Bn will soon become $180Bn, and then $480Bn. The added income from the opium industry and the Foreign Investment Act will help us in our endeavor. Soon Lasir will be a model for the rest of Southeast Asia. They will look on in jealously, wistfully dreaming about what they're country could be. I have already begun talks with several foreign governments asking for financial help to give us a jumpstart on this project.

So far President Jaishyn has approached Pavlosvk for a loan, but the exact amount has not been disclosed yet. It is likely that because of the gargantuan cost, the project will be completed a little at a time, in order to maintain the government's budget. The government has also reached out to nations worldwide, seeking foreign aid to help them in this matter. The improved infrastructure will greatly improve efficiency, but at the same time it might bring us into massive debt. Is President Jaishyn really ready for the task he's set out before himself?
In other news, Great Britannia has bought 25 tonnes of gold from Lasir, for a total of $1.625Bn. They have also agreed to open a coal power plant outside of Bangkok, for an estimated $2Bn. It seems that President Jaishyn's new internationalist policies are already coming into effect. Power may be coming to the masses sooner than we think.

BREAKING NEWS FROM MADRID

In the early hours of August 25th, President Coover sent a letter to his cabinet and staff resigning from office and fleeing to Occitania. Vice President Gaona was sworn in shortly after and has released a short statement detailing the actions of President Coover and the ongoing investigation into the recent bombing in Madrid.
" My fellow Alicians, today i got propelled into the highest office in our land. I have been your vice President for 3 years and my plan was to leave office and spend time with my family but i have been called upon to serve this great nation and that's just what i'm going to do. This morning i took the oath to protect this nation with every fiber of my being and Former President Coover resigned fleeing to our neighbors. With that being said, I spoke with the NCIA and the man we have in custody admitted that President Coover hired him to assassinate Senator Bowman. He also admitted that the Government of Occitania were in on the bombing and offered President Coover asylum. We do not know how true that is and are currently trying to get in touch with the Government of Occitania. I ask you do not show any violence towards those people but for the protection of Alicica i have raised border security and put the air force on alert if an Occitanian invasion does happen. Occitania is the Queen Mothers home country and Occitania does belong as a part of this union. Our government is stable but shaken and with that i hereby declare my candidacy for President of Alicia. I did not plan on leading this nation but i hereby promise you i will protect it with every ounce of my being. Thank you and may God bless the Queen and Alicia."

Henry Bowman has stayed silent so far.

      The Federation is Not American
      Image

Following the Kansas Crisis a number of Federal troops and military police were sent into a number of places in Kansas, specifically large portions of the farmland are now under defacto martial law by the Federal Government. According to the reports with the protesters the Kansas Crisis was made to force the Feds to recognize breach of Federal authority on state matters as well as the degeneration of democracy within the Federation and lastly the hostile treatment the Heartland states have suffered under the Federal government. However these noble and patriotic American ideals are not approved by the Federation and in the areas under Martial Law while stopping the food crisis in other states have met with a large number of arrests as well as the death of many protest organizers to set an example. This brutal treatment is not going to likely go away any time soon unfortunately.

North–South divide to be closed

Today the Britannia Government has signed a deal with Lancaster Industries to rapidly develop the North of England. The so-called North-South divide has existed since the Industrial revolution and the government wishes to close the gap so that the South of England is no longer the major sole contributor to the Union’s economy. South England is very much serviced and financially based, especially in London, This project aims to create an industrial powerhouse in the North of England. Lancaster Industries a fairly new and unknown company on the international stage and is hoping that this project will create a long and healthy partnership with the Britannia Government. Furthermore, the company is hoping that with the success of this project they will be able to create branches and expand into other nations.

Lancaster Industries CEO George Cole explained:
This company is delighted to be able to develop the North of England as the Port city of Liverpool is our hub of operations. For too long this nation has relied on the South for total economic output, but now the North will also have an equal output if not more. We are very grateful for the opportunity the Government has granted us, we are keen to fulfil our contract and are looking forward to further dealing with the Government.

The Government has signed a contract with Lancaster Industries in which the company will develop the North with a predicted cost of $20 billion. The government has clearly stated that if the company delivers results, future contracts will be signed for the development of Ireland, Scotland, Wales and the Midlands.
Image

The goals of the project are summarised as:
• Increase of economic output in the Northern areas of England
• To create new towns and draw dense populations away from Urban areas to create a dispersed population, aiding with the development of industrial towns
• To concentrate an increase of commercial industry and heavy industry output
• Trade to be increased with the expansion of the Liverpool port

Following the Industrial and Provident Societies Act the government is also allowing Citizens undergoing such scheme to take part in the North England development Project instead. Lancaster Industries and the Government will be working closely during the project to increase effectiveness and allow for both entities to fully utilise their resources to achieve the goal. Lancaster Industries is expected to rapidly grow if this contract is a success for the Britannia economy.

      The Continental Flag.

In the aftermath of the 'American' Federation's reactionary, overhanded, unamerican response to the Kansas Crisis with brutal treatment had led to numerous national guard groups in the Heartland States refusing to follow Federal authority instead following the authority purely of their own states. While the main mutiny started in the capital of Missouri, Jefferson City it had spread well throughout the Heartland with multiple marches from local national guard units as a form of resistance against the Federal Government as well as removed the Federal Flag from there uniforms instead replaced it with the nearly forgotten revolutionary era Continental Flag.

President Jaishyn makes diplomatic visit to Pavlovsk; Presidential elections announced
Discusses possible friendship between nations.

President Jaishyn made a visit to the Pavlosvki capital of Chekhov today to meet with General Secretary Gorbachad over possible diplomatic relations between the two countries. Gorbachad brought him to his personal residence, which Jaishyn described as "a beautiful display of the power and prosperity the Pavlosvki people hold." The two discussed the future of Lasir, and Gorbachad took the time to describe in detail to Jaishyn the merits of Rykovian Socialism. President Jaishyn has been expressing recently that he is in doubt of the current socialist system, and that after 100 years of the economic system, he has been pondering if its time for change. President Jaishyn leaves for Vientiane tonight, and is expected to make a press conference tomorrow about the outcome of the meeting.

In other news, candidates for the Lasian presidential election have started to announce their candidacies. President Jaishyn is running for re-election from the LSDU, the Lasian Social Democratic Union. His main adversaries will be Najeem Shirani of the Centre Party of Lasir and Ye Min of the Lasian Capitalists Party. The Centre Party has lost seats in the Rhushasani in the recent years, due to increasing ideological fanaticism between the left and right of the political spectrum. The Lasian Social Democratic Union is facing somewhat of an apathy amongst its voters as it has been the dominant force in Lasian politics for over fifty years. It can be said that LSDU voters think that they'll win anyway, and so have not been coming out to vote. This has given the LCP ample legroom to spread its influence amongst the Rhushasani and the LCP now commands 73 of the 200 seats in the Rhushasani. Ye Min has been running on a populist platform against the LSDU, citing its lofty ambitions and goals such as the recent $260Bn the government has allocated to a renovation of Lasir's roadways. His motto "Doing, not Dreaming.", although unoriginal, has caught the attention of multiple Lasians, especially those living in the suburbs. While the LSDU has been focusing on the city centers, Ye Min has been traveling to the farthest corners of Lasir, often having to trek through jungle and roads that are nothing more than trails. Will the LSDU remain the dominant force in Lasian politics for another 6 years? Or will the Capitalists introduce a new aspect to Lasir? More will be unveiled in the coming weeks.

Lasian Department of Labour

September 5, 1990

The Lasian Department of Labour would like to inform the public at large of the following changes in the employment of 2,520,000 Lasian citizens. As the government has ruled out the military as obsolete and not needed in this age of peace and cooperation, they have disbanded over 2/3 of it in order to better save money and fund other projects. In the wake of this, the government has done the following:

-Reduced active military personnel from 3,500,000 to 980,000.
-Is scrapping excess equipment for valuable scrap metal in use for new projects
-Has created the state-owned construction company Rhuang Construction to employ 2,000,000 former troops to help work on the country's infrastructure revamp.
-Has created the state-owned logging company Shri-Vensayana to employ 520,000 former troops to help begin the nations new interest in logging.
-Has applied an official government subsidy to both of these companies, giving $1.3Bn to each, to help them gain their capital.

Signed by the Chairman of the Department of Labour: Dhara Sallimulah

Alicia VS. Whom?

On September 3rd and into the early hours of the 4th Alician special forces entered Occitania. The goal of the mission, to take President Coover dead or alive. In a statement made by the Presidential Palace the Copters were forced to drop explosives and were eventually forced to land by Occitanian forces where they were taken into custody. The president is currently in negotiations with government officials to get the 14 men back on Alician soil. There were mixed emotions across the international board. The nations of Yahel and the Texan Confederacy were strongly against the actions President Gaona took. The Texan Confederacy prepared the navy with out known cause. Toluca, a nation President Gaona planned on making a priority if he wins election, forced the closure of the Alician naval base stationed on its coast. In retaliation, the Textile company Mucho Ropa, closed down its mill and unemployed 1000 residents of Toulca City. Britannia vowed to keep strong economic ties and support Alicia through this time and Japan prepared to Protect Alicia at all cost. A meeting between nations was held shortly after and Eliza Cortez represented Alicia. A conclusion was not met with rumors stating the Texan Confederacy stormed out. We will keep you updated as the events unfold.

Senator Bowman held a rally in the city of Pamplona stating "President Gaona worked for the man who orchestrated this attack on our nation. I do agree, he handled the mission very well, but we had the world breathing down our backs the entire time, does he want Alicia to stand alone? For gods sake, the man didn't even want the job." In response President Gaona released a short message saying " In conclusion, President Bowman is too emotionally involved and haywire to handle this office. He'd send us to war and Coover isn't even around anymore." Current polls show the race being quite close if it were held today with President Gaona raking in 49% and Senator Bowman taking 48%. Although she has not declared running, there is a growing speculation Eliza Cortez may announce her candidacy.

The house voted today to outlaw the practice of bull fighting. The vote was 106-94 and it now moves to the Senate where it is projected to be very close. Animal activist have taken stand in-front of the Senate building stating "Bull fighting is Bull-Sh**!"
President Gaona has announced he now has a shortlist for his vice-president who will only serve until January 4th of 1992, unless the president is elected. The primary ends on May 12th of 1991.

Military revolts due to recent disarmament bill.
Presidential Residence stormed and massacred.

In a shocking turn of events, the military has revolted due to the recent decision by President Jaishyn to fire 2.52m active personnel in the military. The navy and air force have put a blockade on all ports and air travel, while the army has swarmed the cities of Vientiane, Bangkok, Saigon, and other major political and financial centers and have effectively placed the country on lock-down. They issued an ultimatum to President Jaishyn to instantly turn over all command and power of the nation to General Commander of the Armed Forces Zhang Fu. The President refused, and on national television with a gun held to his head, said the following:
I, President Aldair Jaishyn of the Socialist Republic of Lasir, do hereby relinquish my po- No, you know what? I am the elected ruler of this nation, and I'd rather die defending freedom than live surrendering it.

He was killed moments after by an unidentified soldier. Soon after, the military stormed the Rhusashana and killed every politician. Commander General Zhang Fu has been placed in charge of the nation as President of the Republic of Lasir, he said in a statement this evening:
Greetings people of Lasir, I am sure you are all quite afraid at the unfortunate actions we have had to take in order to bring order to our nation once again. The Socialist regime was weak and pandering to foreign countries. It let our nation sink deeper into debt and let our citizens live in poverty. I am not here to rip your rights and money away from you, I am simply here to restore order to Lasir and bring our country to greatness. The first thing I do as President of Lasir is abolish socialism in our country. Socialism is a relic of a by gone era when corrupt dictatorships used it as a propaganda machine to make their citizens feel 'equal'. All it let it do was let terrible people stay in power and remain there at the cost of the worker which they so deeply cared about. I have seen the world through my times in service, and I have seen the benefits that capitalism brings. Our citizens will no longer live in poverty, instead we shall raise them to wealth! In celebration of this, I hereby rename Lasir to the Republic of Lasir

President Zhang Fu has tried to play himself as a diplomatic leader, but unfortunately as both the executive, judicial, and legislative branches now fall under his control, he can wield much more power than was previously possible by the nations leaders. We will further update you on this story.
