Just after Sarmul left the room, Callum said the following words under his breath... "Idiots... delusional idiots..."

Camargo stepped out of the League assembly chamber to check a message on his cellphone. He opened a official government communication and sit in a wooden bench at the hallway to read through it. He read it again and again, util he stop to think for a moment, with a concerned expression. Then he got up and put some water in a plastic cup at a near water dispenser and drank it.

Callum walked down the corridor back to his office. It had been a few days since that strange interaction with the Thuzbek businessman. He thought to himself why on earth was it that he always had the unpleasant experiences with people in this city early in the morning? He hoped that his new 'arrive at work at 6am' idea would prevent such run ins and let him actually have evenings.

He got to his desk and it was relatively clear for a change so he put his order in for a coffee and came back to his office, using the computer to browse the international news networks he followed as closely as he did the official notices from the Foreign Ministry. He had noticed over the past few days that things were markedly slower in the League in the early morning. An assistant soon walked into his office, with a small pile of papers in his hand.

"Good morning, Mr Parkes"

"Arae Cameron - just call me Callum... we've been over this haven't we?"

"Yes, Callum."

"Finally... now what's that you got in your hands?"

"Hope you're feeling sociable this morning, we gotta get the Marian delegate - early in the morning I presume considering their mountains of work are no smaller than mine? - yes, that would be correct"

"Alright, give me whatever it says in the overview, abstract, briefing or whatever they call it these days"

"Alright, Callum so as you probably already know San Jimenez has a new Hearn and is claiming to be the defenders of Christendom - yeah I've seen this one, no need to say any more"

And with that he was handed the brief and he grabbed his phone, walking fast out of the door towards the the office of the Marian delegate.

Of course this is what I get for waking up early he muttered under his breath as he continued down the corridor towards the café which was too close to his office for his wallet to handle.

He saw the Marian delegate by the water cooler, obviously more used to this morning thing than he was.

"Good morning, sorry if this is way too early or way before first coffees to talk but I really do need to talk about the situation in San Jimenez"

The Marian delegate looked puzzled and a bit confronted

"Oh, my apologies - I'm Callum Parkes, the Ahnslen delegate to the League. I assume you're the representative from Dragao Do Mar?"

Lope Deniau, Foreign Service Officer attached to the Corindi Mission to LoTWI, slowly spun around in his chair as he read the latest articles pertaining to the latest regional hubbub, the Vancouvian declarations of last night which had worked up quite a bit of bile amongst the ID's neighbors.

"Tensions may be high", he thought to himself, slightly increasing the speed of his spin, "but we can work with that."

Right as he spun past his phone, it buzzed with a notification. FSO Deniau quickly stopped his chair and unlocked the screen.

It was a message from his intern, his Vancouvian counterpart had just entered the building for their meeting.

"Perfect, right on schedule, love it!", FSO Deniau said to himself, turning his chair firmly towards the door and resisting all impulses to resume its previous rotation.

Van Adrichem stood from his seat in the League Assembly Chamber and walked out, tired and stressed from the sudden assembly made in response to Vancouvia and Athara Magrat's blockade of the eastern straits around the International District, he tried to speak up but his Vancouvian counterpart played the one trump card he knew they would try, Arván, suggesting that Vancouvia will get involved in the situation in Noronica or even the long-standing dispute in the peninsula was beyond frightening for the diplomat. We were so close to dealing with it too, why now does those damned Vancouvians get jumpy?, he thought as he walked down the hall from the main chamber. He pulled up his phone, a government issued and secured Conway Quantia X, and made to send a message his Mennan intern,
Get me a call with President Dyson. It's urgent.
As he picks up his pace, he hears a voice calling his name from behind him ...

"Oh, of course" said the Marian delegate "I think that it's been quite a time since we directly talk. My name is César Camargo."

Camargo then turn away to toss his disposable cup at a near trash can. He missed, and grabbed it again to put directly inside of the can. He came back to respond the question of Callum Parkes.

"Well, the establishment of the new government in San Jimenez brought big concerns to Marians. Can you say the same about the people in Ainslie?"

As Mamitu Assefa made her way out of the Assembly Chamber she couldn't help but get lost in thought. For years the League had been tip-toeing around the issue, and the Grand Principality was no different. After numerous failed bi-partisan attempts at solving the problem and neither side wanting war the issue over the Territory of Yitoria and Unovi remained in a state of limbo, though that was until now. She couldn't fathom why the Magrati Government would do something so drastic after years of, though uneasy, peace.

As her mind rambled on the sudden sound of rapid footsteps not of her own creation began to interrupt her train of thought.

"Mr. Van Adrichem!" Mamitu yelled down the hallway, picking up her own pace to catch up to him. "I assume these sudden turn of events has managed to rile you up as well? To believe such actions would be taken with reckless abandonment."

Stephanie saw the delegates from Razzgriz and DS talking as she was walking to her office. She walked over to them. "Afternoon, Van Adrichem, Ms. Assefa. Mind if I speak with you two. I believe we all might be discussing the same problem."

To his surprise, it was the Osean and Svalbardian delegates that had approached him, one following behind the other in high-heeled jogs to meet with the Dormill-Stiuraian, turning to meet them he rendered a quick nod of acknowledgement before speaking, "Ms. Assefa, Ms. Stephanie, it is a surprise to say the least to see the both of you outside the chambers. As to your question Ms. Assefa; yes, the fact that both Vancouvia and Athara Magrat are blockading this very island has managed to deeply annoy me. It is of great concern to both myself and Courlaroux that these are happening now. Now if you would like to join me in my office, I was about to call in the President to discuss this very situation, maybe having both of you with me will reassure him that the United Republics are not alone in standing up to Vancouvian neo-imperialism."

"Of course Ms. Stephanie. The United Republics has always been welcome to working closely with the Svalbardian government. Please follow me you two."

As he walked back towards his office in the League Building, a text returned to him, from his intern fortunately

He's on the line and waiting for you.
Thank you, I will be there with company soon. Could you get some drinks ready?
Yes, sir.

His own phone back in his pocket, he walked the two other delegates into his office, where they briefly greeted the other members of Van Adrichem's staff before entering his own room, where the President was waiting on speaker.

"Mr. President, it is great to have you with me on such short notice."

"Short notice is what I've been working with all month, Mr. Van Adrichem. It hasn't been easy but since when was the Presidency ever easy?", the President responded.

"As far as I know, never." the ambassador chuckled, then continued, "I also have the pleasure of being joined by Ms. Stephanie of Polar Svalbard and Ms. Mamitu Assefa of Razzgriz. They wanted to be here and discuss this situation with you as well, show their support."

The President responded with a long sigh, "It is a great relief that the both of you are here. Dormill and Stiura is in desperate need of allies as this situation develops."

A Megu inviting an Osean into his office? My my.... a true sign of the times we're in, and my apologize Ms, Stephanie it is a pleasure to meet you as well. I'll join you immediately Mr. Van Adrichem."

She had managed to enter the office just shortly after Mr. Van Adrichem's gave their introduction to his president. I hope all is well with you sir, and just as your nation would like to know its not alone in this matter, so would ours in these trying times. We have tried to keep to ourselves over the years yet.....now we find ourselves drawn into a potentially grater conflict."

"Of course Ms. Assefa, and Ms. Stephanie. The United Republics shall stand behind any ally it finds as the situation develops, as my ambassador mentioned. However, it will be a difficult fight for us considering the situation closer to home. With Noronica on the brink of a complete government collapse we have to focus our attention here, Vancouvia making claims in Swaneeak and their blockade of the International District has changed the nature of our policy. I've considered calling the Congress back in to do something about this but at this time of the year, it would put a lot of pressure on my administration. What can either of your governments do to make a public assurance that the three of us at least are prepared to stand together?"

Stephanie thought to herself for a moment, "It is disconcerting that this is happening while Noronica is falling apart. At the moment my government is strongly focused on this issue as the straits that are within the I.D are an important strategic area. We can understand that your nation more likely has to focus on Arvan and the Swaneeak islands. My government already has taken the lead on this blockade and has stated that it accepts any nation that is willing to stand beside us. I am sure that the Consul Bellum would be more than willing to state that he supports actions that your government takes in regards to the straits, maybe even beyond that. Already the Second Fleet should be sailing through the area. What happens after this I have not been told yet. If truly we want to stand together I am sure I could talk to the Consuls for direct contact between our governments."

"Good afternoon," called Augustia, raising her hand as she jogged over to Lope. "How are you, my Corindian friend?"

FSO Deniau rose from his chair and met Augustia's hand with a firm shake.

"Personally, I have been having a bang up day, could not ask for a better one really, thank you for asking! But let's get down to business. I think it goes without saying there's a lot of discord in the region, and us folks back at Carmo, well, we don't love it. There's Athara Magarat's sea claims, this whole ugly ID sovereignty business, and of course, the little question of who gets Sawneeak. Now, I don't think the two of us, right here, right now, can deal with all that, but we may be able to strike a quick deal on the Sawneeak Atoll."

FSO Deniau sat back down, and gestured for Augustia to do the same

"Now, that little dot of rock is quite close to Corindia, and you folks want to put weapons there. Our main interest in it is simply the additional EEZ it would give us for fishing and resource extraction purposes. Now it turns out these aren't exactly competing interests, and there is a future in which we both get what we want. But missiles that close, they aren't great politically for us, riles up some of the hawks back home. So we'd like a little Island concession of our own, specifically on Illa Isle. Now the Corindi people, they're pretty bothered by what's goin' on there, and negotiating an end to that ugliness would be a boon to President Abello's reelection campaign. So, naturally you have your superiors to report to just as I have mine, but any first thoughts? An island for an island, you don't complain when we fish and we don't complain if a few "radar installations" get built?"

Augustia looked around the room, making sure no one was within earshot. She had picked up that habit during her time at VEO, and still, you could never be too careful.

Augustia was initially taken aback. He seemed to be asking for two concessions: rights to Illa Isle and rights to the Pelican Islands, and not offering much in return. Augustia knew she had to play this diplomatically - change a potential threat into a boon for Vancouvia internationally.

"Sir, both of these locales are sovereign Vancouvian territory. We have no qualms with your fishermen utilizing our waters surrounding the Pelicans, but frankly, the ocean is a big place and there are plenty of fish in the sea. I also wish to remind you that we store no missiles on the Pelicans; it is mostly used as an emergency airstrip and refueling station. As for Illa, we would have no problem providing infrastructure for your radio towers, provided of course, your nation would be willing to assist us in its recapture."

"We're not trying to move into Illa, and honestly, we don't even need you to fully give it up, what's really causing problems is the treatment of the Illa Islanders. Even if they just received autonomy, and of course the cessation of the attacks on them, confirmed by observers naturally, we could be convinced to back your Southern Sea claims in the face of contesting nations."

Augustia realized she had to keep the party line on Sawneeak, even if she knew it was ridiculous. "The Sawneeak islands are naturally Vancouvian - and Corindia does not have claims in that area. I am confused on what you are offering there? We are relying on other nations to drop their existing claims."

Augustia had a much stronger position on Illa. "We are not mistreating any Illa Ilsanders, if that's what you are insinuating. We are not even operating on the island currently. El Frente Popular and Ignacio Campos have, however, engaged in the brutal torture and killings of thousands of Vancouvian citizens over the past six months. What exactly is your position?"

"Listen, I think what Corindia wants is pretty clear, we will actively support your Southern Sea claims if the Illa issue is resolved to our satisfaction. We can send you back with a memo outlining that too if that makes your after-action report simpler. This is a complex bundle of issues and we didn't expect this to be handled by just the two of us in one meeting, we both have superiors to answer to and receive direction from after all. If they're interested, I'm sure we'll hear back from you or another representative. It seems Vancouvia is trying to juggle a lot of claims, and if at some point in the future they become more difficult to maintain, we would be more than happy to help you find a diplomatic exit."

FSO Deniau stood up and beamed

"Anyway, great meeting, I think we've really learned a lot about each other, as nations and as professionals. If you want a tiny Corindi flag then ask the secretary, she keeps a bin of 'em under her desk. Other than that, I think we're done here!"
