It was at the Battle of Yavin that it happened. The Emperor wanted to see personally to the demise of the Rebellion, and so he was present aboard the Death Star. He did not listen to his advisors and died aboard the battlestation, along with numerous other major military leaders of the Galactic Empire.

Lord Vader would return to Imperial Center with his personal fleet, along with ordering the Executor moved into its orbit to complete its construction as well as for its defense of the Empire's capital.

This tragic blow to the Galactic Empire's leadership caused the Imperials to fracture. Lord Vader would assume the title of Emperor, killing any on Imperial Center who would question him. Those loyal to him, or who would honor Palpatine's wishes, would kneel to the newly proclaimed Emperor Vader. However, those systems within the Empire - those who feared or questioned Vader, those who despised him and only remained loyal to Palpatine, and those who had their own goals or ends... they broke away.

Some threw their lot in with the fledgling Rebellion, bolstering their numbers. Others decided to carve out their own new, independent fiefdoms to fight against both sides. Regardless, the Empire is now at war with itself and the Alliance. Emperor Vader has to hold the remnants of the Empire who stayed with him in a death grip, even as both Imperial and Alliance forces fight over the scraps of the Empire as it is on the brink of destruction.

Ours is an empire at war, and there will be no peace until a victor has arisen.

Greetings! And welcome to Empire At War, a Star Wars Alternative Universe roleplay! In this RP, the Galactic Empire is fracturing - with Emperor Vader only barely managing for the Imperial fleets to maintain control over the Core Worlds, and most of the Inner Rim worlds. The Mid Rim and Outer Rim are up for grabs, both by the Alliance and Imperial-traitors-turned-Alliance, and Imperial warlords who think they are beyond the Empire's reach due to this massive loss of morale and power.

You will take one of several roles: an Alliance fleet admiral/leadership member, an Imperial governor who turned to the Alliance, an Imperial governor turned warlord, an Imperial governor loyal to the Empire under Vader, or whatever else. Regardless, you must be controlling some type of faction or some type of leadership role.

Most canon characters will be limited as NPCs unless I specifically like your application enough.

All standard RP etiquette is expected and commanded; I don't think I need to reiterate the rules.

Biogrpahy: After the death of Palpatine, Lord Vader swiftly ordered a retreat to consolidate forces and power at Imperial Center. Once any who could or would question his rule were dispatched of, Lord Vader proclaimed himself as the new Emperor - even as his new, nearly completed flagship, the Executor, sat in orbit. Lord Vader also knew he had to be at his best, especially considering that Obi-Wan's apprentice and the Death Star's destroyer was still out there.

Thus, Vader received multiple upgrades to his mechanical limbs, prosthetics, and specialized surgeries and treatments for his various organic and tissue issues. This allowed him to reveal part of his face and use a new respirator/vocodor, which only partially masks his voice (applying only a slight baritone). As the new Emperor, Vader's first order of business was to establish control over the Core Worlds - which was easy enough due to the sheer number of fleets that remained loyal to him and to the Empire. The Inner Rim was only slightly more difficult.

In reaction to the open rebellion by numerous Imperial warlords and turncoats, Vader ordered their executions through the Emperor's Hands - whose loyalties had since turned to him out of necessity. Of course, not all would be successful, but many would remain loyal to the Empire out of fear. Still, there were many persistent warlords and turncoats who were even further pushed into the hands of the Alliance.

Vader has dedicated a majority of his time to overseeing the war effort and receiving reports from loyalist Imperial systems, along with Imperial fleets; leaving the actual governing of the Empire itself to his most trusted moffs, officers, and various Imperial governors. He will not allow his Empire to collapse, and will ensure it recovers by any means necessary...

Biogrpahy: Haltor Bennet was born in 30 BBY, two years after the repelled Trade Federation invasion of Naboo. His mother was an accomplished lawyer on Coruscant, while his father was the brother of a senator. His mother and aunt were best of friends, and through this channel his parents had met. His early life was one of luxury, living in one of the most prosperous eras the Republic had ever known. He was eight by the time the Clone Wars started, but living in splendour on Coruscant his life was never really touched by it outside of the frequent military parades and the permanent fleet stationed in orbit above the planet. The attack on Coruscant by the Separatists left a lasting impression on him, and would colour his worldview for years to come. The Fall of the Republic and the declaration of the Empire was one of the first news stories he remembers actively following, from the coup attempt by the Jedi to their eradication and the declaration of the empire.

Haltor was a civil servant at heart, a lawyer just like his mother. While the senate was reduced in power, the senatorial class still lived in the same splendour as before, perhaps even more so due to the frequent bribes paid by the emperor. The money was enough for Haltor to get a good education in law at Coruscant, and he entered practice in his mother’s firm quickly after graduating in 5 BBY. He did this for five years, although the Battle at Skariff changed everything. The rise of a rebellion reminded him too much of the Seperatist threat of his youth, and remembering the Battle of Coruscant was all he needed to join up. His mother and father begged him not to go, but his decision had been made. A day later he applied to the Imperial Naval Academy on Coruscant. A day later, the Empire revealed the Death Star to the Galaxy, followed by the abolition of the Senate. Another day later, the Death Star was destroyed by a rebel attack. A lot of emotions went through the capital all at once: the empire had lost many sons, many heroes, the father of the Tarkin Doctrine… There was rage, there was fear, there was uncertainty.

There was also opportunity, however. The sudden death of a great number of officers left many posts open. After graduating from the academy, it didn’t take long before Haltor came in command of his own cruiser, and even his own destroyer. His rapidly advancing military career, which he also owed to his mother’s connections, was a good distraction from the increasingly violent and dystopian politics of the empire. His aunt was executed on suspicion of treason, and his father sent to an unknown labour camp. His mother’s work and his own income were the only means of keeping up the style of living they had been used to, and even then it was hard. When he received news that Vader had selected him to become part of the 501st, ready to take a new offensive to the rebels, Haltor’s mother begged the Emperor to reconsider. Instead, Haltor was sent to Muunilinst, to replace an Imperial Comptroller of the Banking Clan that had held that position before. The officer had disgraced himself with fraudulent management, and was now placed about one of the front-line star destroyers. His bridge was hit by an asteroid that killed him instantly.

Serving as Imperial Comptroller was a quiet posting. Through his knowledge of the law and of finances, and by employing an army of accounting staff, Haltor kept a close eye on the Banking Clan. The post came with a very good salary, to keep the officer in that position from coveting more funds. In return, Haltor had to report directly to the emperor, although the latter became less and less interested as the secret project neared completion. Haltor feared that this new creation would mean that the Emperor would no longer need the Banking Clans, putting him out of work. Nevertheless, Haltor agreed to have many of his ships and army contingents moved to Endor, expecting them to return soon. They never returned, and neither did the Emperor.

After the destruction of the Second Death Star, there was much disarray. Keeping his loyalty to the Empire, Haltor could nevertheless see how the position of the Banking Clan was affected. Their loyalty has been unquestioned before, since aligning with the rebels was seen as a bad business strategy. The empire controlled almost all of the galaxy, and the comptrollers were strict to see that no funds was handed over to businesses which sold to the rebels. However, with the empire fractioning, it becomes clear that independence from the Empire might suit the Banking Clan best. However, if the Empire is able to recuperate under Vader, a man Haltor never liked much, then his betrayal will most certainly spell the doom of the Clan, himself and his direct family. The choice is hard to make, especially with the Banking Clan always buzzing underneath. The devious and plotting Muuns are always looking for an opportunity, and the Clone Wars showed they were not above massacres.

As for Vader, yeah, it will get even more totalitarian. However, Palpatine was always more fleet-orientated, while Vader was more about planetary war. Palpatine kept control by parking a destroyer or two in orbit, while Vader would perhaps keep control by actually placing stormtrooper battalions on the surface. And, of course, the Core Worlds were spared from Palpatine's autocracy, while I don't think Vader would give them the same treatment.

Yeah, there are lots of Imperial fleets under Vader's direct command in the Core Worlds right now, as well as quite a few of the Inner Rim systems. Vader has effectively lost control over the Mid Rim, beyond those "loyalist" warlords and factions in the area which connect him to the Outer Rim and the rest of the Mid Rim.

The Galactic Empire is in... serious trouble, and Vader has to try and get things back together again. All while dealing with Imperial turncoats and warlords in the Mid and Outer Rims, the Hutt crimelords, other warlords, and the Alliance itself. Not to mention ensuring that the Empire remains in secure control over its central territories.

Still. It'll be interesting to see how the RP unfolds.

A small stand had been prepared in front of the cargo ramps of the dock, a meager crowd had assembled comprised of dockhands and shipwrights. Lance was standing just aside the platform as the tubby union boss tried halfheartedly to get the crowd anticipated for his speech, he was nervous, sweating carefully contained under his suit he was roused from his thoughts when the union boss clasped him roughly on the shoulder, "Your on." he said as he passed by. Lance took large steps to the podium, wiped his brow, cleared his throat and began to speak. "H-H-Hello, as you know my name is Lance Faraday and I've been elected to serve you." He paused, the crowd silently stared at him, "I-um-I may not be the bold new ideas and so grand a scheme as my colleagues have, but I can promise you this, I will always be with the people. This means I support a healthy industrial environment, the blue collars are the backbone of our economy, so our are farmers, as well as our service based friends including government employees. This is why I support the formation of unions and the right of workers to strike, it is unreasonable to me that you would have to work hours and hours everyday only to take less pay from the owner, or to work overtime without compensation, just as the boss is the provider of jobs you the workers provide him with his." the crowd had warmed up a bit to this and seemed to like where this was heading.

"However, it is important that we not abuse our island without temperament, Mother Nature is kind to all of us but not if we abuse her. I believe it is possible to continue to have an industrial base as well as pursue environmentally friendly policies, this includes ending our dependency on oil and natural gas, I recognize the loss of jobs in the short term, but the amount of jobs from the construction of wind farms, solar plants, and nuclear fission will far outnumber the ones lost, and all save the last one require similar construction skills as building another derrick." Some in the crowd were paying full attention, others were at least being polite.

"I've gone over my time here, but if you would let me finish my last two or three points. As an island nation I think it would be prudent to maximize the efficiency of our Navy and Airforce, maybe some expansion of bases and dockyards, but we should primarily focus on having our troops at the smallest point with the largest rate of success. Secondly, much of the developed world suffers from a crisis of mental illness we need to invest in both pharmaceuticals and psychologists that can lessen the impact of these terrible diseases that effect many of us and our families, disproportionately so does it effect the lower class, inmates, and juveniles. The fight to treat this illnesses and to keep treatment affordable is one that we can fight in the capitol. Lastly, while some developed countries struggle with substance abuse, we should not let this scare us away from the largely 'harmless' cannabis plant, while every drug has negative side effects this includes tobacco and alcohol, but with no-one calling for an end to the use of those why should we continue to enforce penalties for such a similar drug? It would also be my hope to expand the agricultural base in the country, both for cannabis and other crops, to return to our more sustainable roots. To clarify allowing or passing a law that allows limited agricultural practices to be preformed both in urban and rural properties, people can save a dime or two by growing their own garden or by being an entrepreneur and starting a locally grown food place in the middle of downtown wherever."

The crowd clapped for the end of the speech, whether genuinely impressed or just trying to be courteous was unknown. "Thank you all for being here, and have a good day." he stepped off the stage smile growing upon his face, "That went rather well I think."

Biogrpahy:

Talia Serjep was born to a middle class family on Coruscant in 33 BBY. Her mother and father were hardworking but loving who worked at a local hospital and a Coruscant police station respectively. Her early years were spent studying in a small academy and scampering around the undergrowth with her friends. She was a gifted student noted by Republic authorities.

However, trashed struck during the battle of Coruscant when a Separatist Frigate crashed into her Sector and killed both of her parents. Talia barely escaped by crawling through the wreckage. She was outraged by the Republic’s inability and unwillingness to respond which filed her with resentment.

She ended up in officer’s academy when the Empire was founded and quickly became among the top of her class. By the time she was 22, she graduated top of her class and became a commodore under Sinjir Morlan, Moff of the Bothan Sector. She spent most of her first five years directly under Morlan’s command with a couple star destroyers and cruisers under her jurisdiction orbiting Bothawui. Morlan became a sort of surrogate father to her and she had a close relationship with him while he taught her all he knew. She began to fall in love with the culture of the Bothan and the people there and was disgusted by some of the Imperial officer’s treatment of the people. Thankfully, Moff Morlan kept a tight leash on his officer’s and abuses rarely occurred.

She gained renown amongst the Bothan people after commanding the liberation of the slaves of Void Station from their ruthless crime lord. She was put in command of all the ships in the Bothan System after being promoted to Rear-Admiral and even allowed some Bothans to serve on the ships.

By the time the Battle of Yavin rolled around, most of the Bothan high command was dissatisfied with the brutal ISB and the Empire’s treatment of aliens. The higher ups including Moff Morlan were all summoned to Yavin for the final destruction of the Empire. Tragically, the convoy was attacked by rebels before reaching Yavin and the entire convoy disappeared.

Being the most senior commander in the Sector and with the Empire in shambles,Talia was promoted to Moff of the sector.

After narrowly fighting off a fleet of loyalists trying to retreat to Coroscant, she lost all remaining loyalty to the Empire. With the support of her subordinates, she declared the Free Republic of Bothan Space and was promptly elected Moff by the people of Bothawui. Now, she controls a fleet of 12 star destroyers, numerous frigates and fleets of smaller ships to maintain the independence of her new fledgling home system.

Outside Nanjing

The new construction projects were progressing quicker than expected. Hundreds of workers busily scrambling to construct new arms factories. The undustrial center outside Nanjing was currently able to produce around 20 artillery pieces, 20 anti tank guns and 2,000 model 1935 rifles a day. Most of these guns were being sent to training camps where the new recruits were being given their weapons. Aith these new factories, the output would be doubled without even considering other industrial centres. As of now, China’s army was expanding by at least 1,000 members a day.

In Shanghai, the Chinese board of naval defense was coordinating the naval forts that were being constructed in case of any naval invasions. These works were meant to employ the populace to satisfy them with the government and to strengthen their defenses against the Japanese navy. The only problem was that they weren’t capable of making large naval guns to use.

In a rural village in the Western mountains, the anti-communist police were carefully checking all of the villagers for communist leanings. New reforms had given them more power over the border regions near communist nations. The CCP wasn’t going to just waltz into China without a damn big fight.

Finally, in the capital, a few telegrams were sent to Sarawak, Japan and America.

The year is 1914. Archduke Franz Ferdinand has just been shot while touring Sarajevo by a Serbian extremist. War is now weeks away. Most leaders think this looming war will be over by Christmas.

But this war is unlike any other.

New machines are about to make this war a living hell. Massive steam powered blimps that eclipse the sun drop bombs on diesel fueled land ships that plow through men like a knife through butter. One thing is ever present however. That thing is the ever present smog of war that could suffocate a man if left too long in it. One thing is certain, this war isn’t some small machine aided scuffle...

This is a World War

Welcome to metal on metal! This is a steampunk/dieselpunk RP set in World War 1. This rp starts on June 28th, 1914. The day Franz Ferdinand was assassinated. However, the key difference is that this World is a retro-futuristic one. Most of the Entente and Central powers use either steam or diesel based machines. The aim is to have a fun War scenario with wondrous and powerful machines.

Rules:

1. What OP says goes, however, if you feel strongly enough about something, friendly arguments are encouraged.
2. Make sure to pass machines through OP in the OOC before you introduce them into the IC.
3. Be civil, don’t be rude or impolite.
4. Don’t speak for other countries(example: loses, breakthroughs, etc…). If there’s a dispute, you can ask OP to settle it, ut understand that sometimes you need to let the other side win.
5. Mostly historical sides, but I’ll get into that later.
6. Each day is about 1 week, but time can be adjusted if needed.
7. No god modding
8. The map is the same as real life in 1914. The only difference is the tech.
