18 Million Aureus Nabbed by Police In Krall Int'l Airport, Landau's Racketeering Business Ceases to Operate
21 May 2021
Image
A Polish swat team operative securing the perimeter at Krall International Airport.

Bernhart Landau, owner of Landau & Wierzbowski Industries, one of the Polish companies contracted by the government to manufacture weapons, and the "victim" of a framing a year ago whereas his high rise appartment was found to be housing dozens of weapons and explosives, was arrested today along with 8 accomplices as he was caught by Polish Customs apparently smuggling 17.75 Million Aureus. (The official currency of the United Roman Triumvirate)

After supposedly turning down a handful bribe of 3 Million Złoty, customs at the Krall International Airport conducted a search on Landau's private plane, a Gulfstream G550, which was intended to fly to Rome. The Polish customs found supposedly counterfeit 17.75 Million Aureus bank notes and 9 Landau & Wierzbowski automatic assault rifles with removed serial numbers. The customs officials quickly called the police on the spot at 12 noon sharp.

"My team and I found an uncountable number of Aureus on different bags and briefcases on the plane, along with a few untraceable automatic weapons." Said the 49 year old inspector.

After the arrival of the police force, 8 men, were quickly subdued and arrested. The plane was once again searched thoroughly and found varying evidence which includes a confession from one of the arrested against Bernhart Landau. Police were dispatched to Landau's multi-million dollar mansion on the outskirts of Warsaw. Landau tried resisting arrest and supposedly bribing the police department, which he failed to do so.

"I had nothing to do with it! I was obviously framed by the government!" said Landau, as he was forcibly put into a police van.

Meanwhile, the bank notes were later sent for further testing and found that it was in fact "Blatantly counterfeit", according to Warsaw police.

After long-winded trial inside Italian embassy in Lima, 2 convicted of espionage and 3 of fraud

After a long-winded trial that has taken many months to conclude, all 5 of the Italian nationals involved in NDLgate have now been officially convicted. 2 men have been convicted of mid-level espionage and will be sentenced to life imprisonment in a Maximum Security Prison in Andea with chance of parole in 35 years. Meanwhile 3 others were convicted of Tier I Fraud and will be sentenced to 30 years imprisonment in low security prisons in Andea with chance of parole in 15 years.

A jury of 50% FSR citizens and 50% Italian citizens ensured that the trial would not be unfairly swayed and that compromises are made that ensure a fair process of justice. While the lawyers representing the government of the FSR pushed for espionage for all 5 Italians and the lawyers representing the 5 Italians pushed for fraud, a compromise was eventually reached by the jury who decided that only 2 of those accused were in fact guilty of espionage, the 2 people were considered the 'leaders' of the group meanwhile the remaining 3 were handed Tier I fraud sentences, the maximum penalty for fraud under Italian law as they were involved in financial aspects of NDLgate while the 2 'leaders' were involved in other aspects. The 5 Italians who were convicted will be transported to Andean prisons where they will be processed and begin their sentence.

Assurances have been made that the 5 prisoners will not be tortured or killed while incarcerated and will not have their human rights violated.

CSAA Launches First Satellite

Today, the Chinese Space and Aeronautics Administration (often known as the CSAA) launched its first satellite. The CSAA was created a year ago and is creating many new jobs for Chinese scientists. Next up, the CSAA plans to send an astronaut into space. Although still, minor moves, with the aid of the CSAA will allow China to eventually establish an actual presence in the space community.

Commodity Crash Hits China

This noon, prices of commodities across China suddenly plummeted. With China being quite influential in the production of many commodities it's expected that the fall will have ramifications across the global market. The news of the commodity crash has also been followed on by a continuing drop in the value of the Yuan. Observers believe that the crash was due the market deciding that commodities were overpriced. Still, many Chinese economists believe that the Chinese economy can continue to grow regardless.

North American historian claims Inca relics are an alien conspiracy

Written on June 10, 2021, by Alicia Flores

Just two week ago, Richard Scott, a self-described ancient technology expert published his first work, called "The Missing Link: Andea." The book touches on many aspects of the Inca civilization, such as the Macchu Picchu stone masonry conspiracy - as in that the techniques used in the citadel were too advanced given the Inca's technology. He then concludes that the Macchu Picchu was likely built by extraterrestrials.

However, his claims regarding two corpses were what gained the most notoriety. According to Scott, he and his team discovered a pair of humanoid mummies near Nazca. Reportedly the remains were quite similar to humans, yet distinctly different. The images shown in the book shows that they had a significantly larger skull and eye sockets, as well as only four toes. Scott claims that these mummies might have in fact been from another planet, and also that they could have been our ancestors. According to him, it's a possibility that humans branched out from a space-faring species when they got stranded in a planet. The aliens would then be a more evolved version of humans, which would explain tales regarding extraterrestrials have noted them to be quite similar yet so different.

Although the book went mostly unnoticed at first it soon gained much prominence due to its outlandish claims. While the book has mostly been heavily critiqued by academic circles, the criticism only served to make the book more popular. Albeit, most of its newfound popularity didn't translate directly into sales, but sales of the book have already greatly surpassed Scott's initial expectations.

Freedom of Marriage

Same-sex marriage legalised throughout Italy

Today, after months of debate in parliament and the senate, politicians voted in favour of legalising same-sex marriage by a small margin. The policy was promised by Partito Democratico in their election manifesto, while the party's coalition partner, Forza Italia, had no official stance on same-sex marriage so adopted the stance of Partito Democratico.

The legalisation of same-sex marriage outlines that two men or two women may now legally marry. Churches have been given the right to refuse holding a same-sex marriage for religious reasons, however, outside of religious reasons, venues, caterers, and other services involved in same-sex marriages do not have the right to discriminate apart from individual staff members who may exempt themselves from involvement for religious reasons and will be protected from repercussions from their employers.

Minister of the Interior, Enrico Letta, whose ministry oversees the implementation and legal bureaucracy of the new laws allowing same-sex marriage, told reporters that "as a devout catholic I personally disapprove of same-sex marriage. It is my belief that marriage is sacred and may only be between a man and a woman as god intended, and for that reason I voted agaisnt the law. Despite my personal beliefs, however, parliament has voted in favour of same-sex marriage and in the national interest, as most of public support same-sex marriage. My job as Interior Minister will not be skewed by my personal beliefs, and I can ensure that the same-sex marriage legislation passed will be fully implemented and under the scrutiny of government committee's."

The first legally-binding same-sex marriages in Italy could be seen as early as next month, with supporters of the law applauding the government for its swift action is tabling the law after coming into power several months ago, acting in the national interest and supporting the rights of minority groups such as the LGBT community.

RETURN OF THE UNION
........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

After years of little activity on the world stage, the Soviet Union is once again rising, casting an uncertain shadow on the world. Following a recent election, a new administration with General Secretary Dimitri Smenov at the helm and the Union is poised to once more enter international events and respond to crisis. In his speech on Sunday Smenov stated the following:

.....in recent years our great union has slowly receded away from the international stage and our greater role in both Europe and international communities such as the DEU. In this time of isolation much of the world has changed and we have been negligent in our duties both to the world and to our fellow members within the European Community who are our allies. Our economy has stagnated and our military has undergone little change in the last few years. Many within the union are starting to question if the Soviet Union is headed down the same path of political turmoil that the Russian Republic and 2nd Russian Empire faced in their waning days. I am here to tell you that will not occur, however, the time of the Union is coming to an end. The territories and states that encompass this nations have seen many leaders with many differing views and opinions on all issue. This has led to a unique culture and viewpoints within our country that are not just socialist, monarchist, or conservative. For that reason, the nation known as the Soviet Union will begin to enter a transitional state into a new government, the Eurasian Federation. The Federation will be a democratically elected government with an economy that has industrial needs met by the private industry and services maintained by the government. The nation will maintain the military dominance that the Soviet Union has been known for and plans to expand our naval presence as new trade routes appear in the Arctic. Lastly, we will be increasing our cooperation with the powers of Europe and those in the DEU to ensure the continuation of peace between DEU member states. I am aware what I ask will not be an easy task, nor will it be accomplished overnight, but I believe this is the right path for not just Russian or the Soviet Union but all of Eurasia.

Union Prepares New Budget

With the Union now re-entering the international stage a major budget overhaul in line with Smenov's announcements is being made in the Supreme Soviet. Military funding, which had been cut, is now receiving a large boost. The Red army will be seeing the most funding followed by the Navy to make up for low funding and the Air Force for new improved aircraft. Funding for industry is also a high priority to rebuild the aging industrial complexes across the Union as well as expanding the facilities westward toward the more sparely populated regions. Welfare funding will likely be cut for these new funding projects and the possibility of creating a Universal Basic Income Testing Site is being considered. Space funding is expected to increase as well for improved facilities to compete with those in the NAF and Europe. Administrative and Law Enforcement funding is also expected to be cut within the Union, shrinking the government size for one of the few times in recent memory.

Military Modernization Program

While the 2021 Budget is still being modified the Military is wasting no time improving the armed forces and drilling them from proper wartime activities. Military bases across the nation are being re-evaluated and soldiers are being put to work doing maneuvers and base maintenance. Older programs are being examined or cut to allocate more money for upgrades while current machinery and equipment is undergoing an overhaul, particularly the massive Soviet Armored Divisions. The Red Fleet has mostly been recalled to port for heavy repair that are long overdue with only a skeleton fleet now patrolling the borders. While some claim this is a dangerous move, the Navy has stated that the fleet in its current state is about as useful as "a gun without ammo". Submarines are being given special attention as Japan's recent advances in the technology have worried many in the Navy. The Air Force has placed orders for additional; PAK-50's to phase out its older air fleet of MiGs and other Soviet-American War Aircraft.

Arctic Thaw Opens Up Trade

With much of the Ice in the Arctic Circle now melting and the advent of commercial submarines, norther ports in the Union have, for the first time, become a viable source of trade. The Maritime Fleet is considering purchasing additional icebreakers to maintain a 6 month opening of the 'Northwest Passage' for trade with Europe and Norther Canada. The trade would open up many markets that have been difficult for the Union to reach since its inception and provide the economy with a large source of revenue. The Fleet is also considering reaching out the ATI to secure submarine transports to conduct trade below the ice during the winter months to keep the trade routes active year-round. The potential development of the lucrative Arctic Ocean Seabed is also on a list of priorities for the Union as potential deposits of rare earth elements and high grade industrial metals could be an incredible addition to the Soviet economy.

The Antifederalist: Episode XXLIVIH, Infinity Lasagna

Everything was dark. The world had cried out for aid for many years, and for many years he had served, but he grew weary, he had suffered many injuries, and he needed to move house because he finally had enough money to do so and NationStates had taken a backseat. But no longer. His distaste for defeat was stronger than any urge to give up, and his rising hatred for them, those who thought they could subjugate the freely thinking life of the galaxy, forced him to rise from his complacency and begin once again the crusade which had driven him forth all those years ago. He was Paul Ryan, he was the hero of heroes, champion of the multiverse, mememaster extraordinaire, the potential least charismatic individual on the planet, and he was going to bring Federalism to its knees.

The aged Antifederalist Commander had a plan. He had always had a plan. Initially he believed that it would be best to remain a shadowy figure behind the scenes, ruining the Federalist Imperial Conglomerate as one of its leading figures, but the hive mind that controlled the higher ups was almost irreproducible and had an unfortunate split personality disorder between absolute seriousness and Iron will, and a complete jokester who sought to purge the universe of the non mammalian menace. Deeming the whole “master hand vs crazy hand” plot line to be too original for this storyline of absolutely totally not a joke of an RP post, Ryan went to his immediate plan B, the collection of six eternity pebbles, each with the power to magically control random elements of the universe. With all six pebbles, Ryan could dab and destroy the vision of all beings in the universe, but more importantly he could snap his fingers and make an “I’m already Tracer” joke to wipe out the entirety of the Federalist alliance across the full multiverse. In one moment, dust and ashes would reign as the Federalists began to not feel so good Mr. Dutoit. His minor rebellions and seditionary acts had garnered attention to him certainly, but they also served as a cover so that he collect the eternity pebbles and wipe out the Federalists without them knowing of his pot.

Or so he thought. In the Last Alliance of Men and Elves and Jellyfish, Paul Ryan lead his troops against the evil forces of Greg and his Prussian Federalist uprising of approximately fifty gagillion (one absolute unit of the Federalist counting system) puppets, Ryan claimed his fourth eternity stone pebble ring thing from Greg’s corpse. Closing in on the final pieces of his plan, the Federocracy arrived. After being told that his aspirations shouldn’t be choked on and standing amidst his own achievements, Orostan was commanded by Emperor Puertollano to execute Order 501st legion. After telling him it would be done, he fired at will on the universe Ryan resided in. Dimension hopping away, Ryan was able to disappear, but not before both of his loyal allies, weeb kings who used to rule the UK and USSR, died. Through immense shock and sadness, Ryan pushed forward and began his quest for the final two eternity gauntlets. Donning his echolocating mammal-man costume, Paulus Caesarus
Ryanus the Fourteenth manipulated the eternity Dialga necklace to give him control of space, that he might find the man who held the remaining pebble as the other one required some dumb sacrifice and he would wait until just after The Last Jedi reference in the next post and the appearance of Zack A. Roth before finding that one.

Amen.

Government announces new emissions regulations

Today the Minister for Economy and Finance announced the governments newest emissions regulations, MEF-ER01/21, commonly called ER01. This is the first emissions regulations passed by the new coalition government lead by President Giuseppe Conte, which has been recently criticised of lacking the drive to make many new laws or regulations during its time in office which is now approaching a year. Critics say this is due to internal conflict between the two parties in government, Forza Italia and Partito Democratico. In an attempt to show government unity and will to make change the government has today released its new emissions regulations that will be added to existing regulation and will not override emissions regulations in areas that it does not affect.

The new regulations aim to encourage the use of electric, bio-fuel and hydrogen powered vehicles by introducing an emissions tax on top of VAT for purchasing petrol and diesel which will stand at 12% of the purchase price. This will mean that those purchasing petrol or diesel at the pump will now pay a total of 34% of the cost of the fuel in taxes. Non-fossil fuel vehicles are now abundantly avalible across Italy and are truly a viable alternative to fossil fuel vehicles for everyday life and commercial use. With all petrol stations in Italy now required to provide at least 2 filling stations each for electric vehicles, hydrogen vehicles and bio-fuel vehicles range anxiety is a non-issue. Another area the regulations will impact is industries where tax credits will be given to companies that are successfully operating a carbon capture programme. Only companies that operate industrial facilities will be eligible for the tax credit.

MEF-ER01/21:

- 12% emissions tax on petrol and diesel on top of VAT
- 50% VAT reduction on purchase of hydrogen, bio-fuel and electricity for vehicles
- Tax credits for industries operating successful carbon capture programmes (Ā20.00 per metric ton of carbon oxides captured)
- Tax credits for companies operating more than 10 non-fossil fuel vehicles (Ā100.00 per electric, bio-fuel or hydrogen vehicle after first 10)
- Grants of up to Ā12,000 for emissions technology startups
- Zero-interest loans of up to Ā18,000 for existing businesses developing emissions technology

The Minister for Economy and Finance, Vittorio Grilli, revealed the details of ER01 on a visit to World Economic Forum: Image

Ministry of Defence confirms funding for 2nd Polena-class supercarrier 'ITS Tiberius'

Today the Defence Minister, former-president Mariastella Gelmini, confirmed that the MoD has allocated funding for the construction of the country's second Polena-class supercarrier, which will be named ITS Tiberius and will join the country's first Polena-class supercarrier, ITS Augustus. This will be the 3rd Polena-class supercarrier ever constructed, as Leonardo, the builders of the supercarrier's, has previously built an identical carrier for the Austro-Danubian navy, named SMS Empress Nicole. With the knowledge and skills learnt during the construction of the first two carriers Leonardo say that ITS Tiberius will be constructed more quickly and efficiently than before and likely wont have any teething problems that ITS Augustus and SMS Empress Nicole had.

NAF$12.3 billion has been allocated for the project, including purchasing the new aircraft needed for the ship. While the cost is high the MoD says that adding a 5th carrier to the Italian navy will strengthen its global presence and projection of power. Another justification has come from an Italian URT Senator who said that looking at it from a URT perspective and not an Italian perspective, it will only be the 3rd Polena-class supercarrier of the entire URT, which is actually a moderate number for the size of the URT and its influence.

Federation of Native Islands

Since its inception, FNI counted on the Puertollanoan military for its defense. Still, it was deemed that greater measures might be needed to guarantee its security. On September 6, 2021, the transfer of personnel started. Some airliners from the FSR would depart for the FNI, nothing particularly special. Except that among the passengers were crews of engineers and some two hundred soldiers. All of them were blending in as civilians and managed to get to their destinations without much fuss. The purpose of the mission was to set facilities for the construction of nuclear weapons in the FNI. Due to the South American nuke ban being implemented shortly after the first Orostani test, the FSR had only managed to acquire a few warheads. They, however, did have fissile material left over. The fissile material would be sent over to the FNI in order to help jump-start the nuclear program. With the fissile material and technical knowledge already present, it was expected that the first bomb could be ready in less than a year.

TeleSUR sold in Germany, according to ruling of Supreme Court

The Germanic branch of the TeleSUR news agency, recently found of treason by the Germanic Supreme Court was orderd to sell its' right's immediately or face expulsion. Although with protest to the ruling, in which the TeleSUR Chairman called 'disgraceful' and 'against the virtues of democratic society', TeleSUR still sold the airing rights. The buyer; TV-company BolivarianAnalysis, a state-owned asset of the Bolivarian Republic of Puertollano. BolivarianAnalysis, still being an entirely different corporation to that of TeleSUR, has glaring similarities. In its' mission statement, BolivarianAnalysis 'seeks to dismantle pro-imperialist and anti-Bolivarian propaganda through the factual dissemination of the world' affairs'. The company is owned by President Castillo's sister, Dilma. In Puertollano itself, BolivarianAnalysis is tarred with controversy. Opposition-linked groups have lambasted the promotion of Dilma Castillo to the leadership of the state company, crying out corruption. However, Dilma contests that she was validly chosen as the Chairman of BolivarianAnalysis, due to her long history in journalism and international broadcasting. Despite the ruling by the Germanic Courts, the pro-South American voice will continue to be aired in Europe, whether it be TeleSUR or BolivarianAnalysis.

Church of Canada to join the Orthodoxy?
September 24th, 2021
The Orthodoxy and the Church of Canada both have had great relations for awhile and both hold relatively similar views, and should this go through would be a great leap in their relations.

The Orthodox Church and the Church of Canada both had held relatively great relations and hold similar views; both have marriage in the clergy, both kept the Sacraments unmodified, both have similar organization and both allow divorce if certain conditions are met to name a few examples. Following the recent changes in the Orthodoxy and the increased conversions to Orthodox by the Canadian people, the Church of Canada has offered to fully join the Orthodoxy.

Opinions of this by Canadian people were mixed but generally positive. 71% of Adherents to the Church of Canada stated they supported or at least were leaning towards supporting this move, while 20% stated they were against or leaning against this move, while the remaining 9% remain with mixed feelings or apathy towards the development. If the Orthodox Church accepts their proposal, then this will be the greatest leap in their relations they've had and would be a major gain for the Orthodox Church, obtaining 170 million new followers, the largest gain they've had since the conversion of the Kievan Rus.

When asked for the reasoning for this move, an Archbishop of the Church of Canada has stated;

"The Church of Canada and the Orthodox Church both hold similar views, first and foremost. Secondly, in uncertain times like these, it's important that us Christians remain as unified as we can get. The Church of Canada has always been geared towards remaining and returning to our Christian traditions, how we were back before the modifications done by the Catholic Church. By joining the Orthodox Church, we essentially anchor that position in. We also live in uncertain times; the World is in a cold war, degeneracy is at an all-time high, and Islamism is on the rise. It is important in these times for fellow Christians to remain unified and to preserve our faith."

Formation of the Eurasian Federation

After weeks of negotiations with the member states of the USSR and months of legislative processing and voting, the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics was dismantled early this morning and was succeeded by the New Eurasian Federation, a new multinational government that hopes to fill the shoes of the USSR. The Federation's new President, Dimitri Smenov, announced the goals and future that the Federation hopes to achieve shortly after the signing of the Eurasian Articles of Unification, the governments founding document.

This new government wants to assure our citizens that they are our priority first and foremost and none of their freedoms shall be in any way infringed upon, be it the freedom of speech and expression or the freedom to trade and travel. Citizens will have every right that they had under the USSR. In addition to this we will be setting up a pilot program in St. Petersburg to test the possibility of a Universal Basic Income as a supplement or replacement for the present welfare systems. Should this controlled test go well it will be expanded to the rest of the country and if it fails the welfare system will be rebuilt from the ground up. However, all healthcare and services will remain under government control. The country's economy will be focusing on rebuilding our heavy industries sector and mining operations, however, both will be done with oversight from the Eurasian Environmental Committee and the National Union to ensure that environmental and working condition standards are upheld and not infringed upon. The military will also be seeing a large overhaul with the increase in global tensions and the recent war in Japan showing that the military is in need of an update and a restructure.

In terms of foreign affairs, the Eurasian Federation would like to assure Europe that it still intends on remaining part of the DEU and wishes to incorporate itself further into the organization. We wish to see continued peace and prosperity in Europe and wish to avoid a conflict of any sort. Eurasia would like to also state that it has no intention of policing the world, however, we will become involved in international incidents that threaten the security of Eurasia or Europe.

Emperor Martin von Habsburg-Lorraine stood atop the northern bell-tower of Hohensalzburg Castle, his hands feeling the rough stone of what were once formidable defenses, and his eyes fixed over the same view of that once charmed the commissioner of the fortress, Archbishop Gebhard von Helfenstein. The stained the sky a morning orange, and just began to expose itself over the snow capped peaks of the Alps. The flag of his Empire flew over his head atop the roof of the bell-tower, its flapping in the wind the only thing he could hear on this quiet and peaceful dawn. Ever since Martin had liberated Salzburg from the Germans, he had made it a point to visit the capital of the Province of Metropolitan Austria whenever he was not held up in the Imperial Capital of Vienna.

The Austro-Danubian Empire Empire has been asleep for some time now. The dream that seemed impossible to achieve just years before had become a reality over the course of Martin's rule. The people of Austria were united, the economy was booming under the Triumvirate, and the Empire's youth had a future to call their own and a home to be proud of. Martin had lived most of his life with no intention of picking up the reigns of the Empire. He had served in the military after graduating from university, and only took the throne after the unorthodox massacre of Late Empress Nicole's branch of the family. Now that he was standing on ground that years earlier was occupied by foreign troops, he wouldn't have asked for anything else regarding his contribution to his people.

Reaching for a small locket he kept tucked away in his right pocket, he opened it to reveal a small photograph of his sister Nicole. It was the first time he opened it since the unification of Austria, the high water mark of his Empire's short yet long history. He watched the sun rise over Salzburg with a spirit he hadn't felt since he marched with his brave troops in the liberation of Salzburg. Nicole would be proud of all he accomplished, but there was still much more to do. So long as Martin was alive, so the Empire could only grow and prosper.

Martin had learned in the morning that the child he and Empress Anastasia were expecting was to be a little girl, and it was up in the heights of Hohensalzburg Castle that he came up with the perfect name for her. It was there another fact became certain on his mind. The Empire's recent years of quiet was going to end soon. Like in the early days of his reign, Martin, with a steady hand, was going to place the Austro-Danubian Empire in the global position that it deserved to be, just as he had originally intended. It was one thing to live in peace and quaintness, but it was another to rule and to prosper. His little girl was to be born soon, and she was going to rule world some day. After all, it was what Princess Nicole II deserved.

Martin closed the locket of his sister and kissed its closed lid. He slid it back into his pocket and made his way for the bell-tower's staircase where he would make his way to the airport to be taken back to Vienna.

Region of Istria receives first devolved powers after years of debate and controversy

After 4 years of delays, revisions and compromises, the Senate officially approved The Istrian Devolved Powers Act 2021 which was recently passed in Parliament. The law is now officially in place, causing controversy in Istria and sparking several protests in the Istrian capital, Pazin and in the regions largest city, Pula. Many who live in Istria are opposed to Istrian devolution as they see it as becoming disconnected from the rest of Italy, which does not have devolved powers and as many Italians have moved to Istria since its incorporation into the republic along with Slovenia, most people feel more 'Italian' than 'Istrian'.

Despite this, the government has passed several devolved powers to Istrian regional authorities as they argue that Istrian heritage and the Croatian language is being erased in the region and it must be greater protected by giving some powers to Istrian authorities so they may act as they see fit in the promotion of the preservation of the Croatian language in the region and Istrian cultural and ethnic heritage.

The devolved powers granted to Istrian regional authorities include control over two major areas: The humanities curriculum of the education system in Istria, this includes Languages, Geography, History, Religious Studies and Social Sciences. This area has been chosen as it allows Istrian schools to have a greater focus on Istrian language, geography, culture and history to enable the preservation of Istrian traditions and heritage into the future. The other major area where Istrian authorities will have control is over telecommunications regulations. Having authority over this legislation will allow small changes to be made to laws governing television and radio, limiting the amount of non-Croatian language music is played on the radio or classifying a minimum number of Croatian-language television channels. This will also help to improve fluency in Croatian and preserve the language across Istria, as it has become a minority language in recent years.

Pro-devolution Istrian's have said that while the new Act is great for the preservation of Istrian identity, the legislation so severely watered down compared to what was proposed in 2017 it "almost a joke". The initial proposal drafted under the Berlusconi government established an official Istrian government which would have control over all of the education system, law & order, environment, transport, agriculture and housing. The actual law passed this week does not even establish an official istrian government, it just expects local authorities to gather and agree on the small policy changes it can make. Gabriela Petrić, representative of pro-devolution organisation 'Istrian Preservation NOW', called The Istrian Devolved Powers Act 2021 "A glorified package of insignificant controls for local authorities". When asked if Istria would ever receive proper devolution Gabriela Petrić was skeptical, saying that as devolution is not included in the constitution the government could give and take devolution on a whim without the input of any devolved governments formed.

President Giuseppe Conte made a visit to Pula, Istria's largest city, to promote the new legislation: Image

Prototype Subfighter Completed

The first prototype Russian made submarine fighter was completed late last week and put on display in Tallinn as a display of Russian Naval Technologies and as a statement to the general Public that Russia will begin to purse underwater technologies that have been rapidly emerging across the world. The SMiG-201 Subfighter displayed in the city is only a testing model which is far from completion and mass production but will be conducting tests in the Baltic Sea for the Navy. The subfighter is expected to have a performance similar to the Australian MF-5 Topaz and French MF-7 Neptune but have an engine system that will be unique to the craft and, according to Russian Military Sources, be able to compete with the standard Cavitation Engines that have dominated the underwater world in recent years. Many of the craft's feature will retain much of present designs and it is expected to enter service in mid 2023.

Federation Makes Large Order From ATI

The Russian Government announced that it has made a large scale deal with the company Advanced Technologies International, a Pacific Federation based company. The purchase was more focused on the industrial sector then the military assets the company has. The purchase included Industrial Replicators, the DPR for the C-LNK system, underwater mining equipment, and ten large civilian submarines. The Federation hopes to use this equipment to start mining operations in the Arctic Ocean and trade under the Ice Sheet using the submarines. The northern port of Arkhangelsk is receiving a major overhaul to its terminals to allow it to dock these submarines and is expected to be the starting point for Arctic Operations. The government also purchased 12 Seawolf Subfighters and loaned an I-500 class to train their crews and pilots in underwater tactics and the new art of subfighter warfare. These assets will be based in Riga as part of a large scale training program that the Federation is looking to expand.

New Anti-Corruption Law Put into Effect by Legislature

The Federation Assembly put into effect a new set of Anti-Corruption laws today to prevent large-scale corruption in the new government. These laws into a constitutionally set pay scale for all government offices that is tied to the GDP Per Capita so that at no point will the government be able to raise its own wages. Lower offices such as clerks and secretaries are not affected by this measure but all upper positions in government are. Lobbying of any sort is also banned as well as accepting any funds form organizations or corporations. All high government positions from the president to the to senators will be required by law to fulfill any campaign promises made, failure to completed these goals will result in pay cuts from their wages. This is to prevent lofty promises from being made to sway voters and legislators from ignoring their duties as elected representatives. Lastly, no political parts are allowed. Representatives made state their views or associate with those who share those views but no official collective organization representing their views may exist in government. This is to prevent hard lining toward one side or another and to prevent government deadlocks over two ideologies.

Puertollanoan naval presence in Caribbean expanded

Military-grade naval ports recently finished construction in the Federation of Nativist Islands for the use of the Bolivarian Republic and local authorities. They were created to facilitate a greater expansion of a Puertollanoan naval presence in the Caribbean after the recent wars and the subsequent ABC Island referendum, in which the majority of the inhabitants voted in favour of independence. Patrol boats of the National Bolivarian Navy now frequently patrol the Caribbean and its' waters in stringent anti-corruption measures to fight money laundering. This is the result of combined effort from France and the Bolivarian Republic to curb this illegal behaviour. Using this rationale, Puertollanoan Destroyers have too been deployed, with some seeing this as an obvious over-step. The Minister for Defense is does not see this as an overstep, telling media that 'the resolve of the Bolivarian Republic should not be judged, it only proves our commitment towards our joint operations with the French Republic, and our commitment to ensure peace in the Caribbean'. PS Benevolencia saw deployment in the Caribbean, alongside a force of submarines and destroyers to 'define Puertollanoan sea borders'. What this is preluding, nobody knows.

FSR Investments in Rwanda

Rwanda sometimes called the Singapore of Africa is one of the rising economic stars in Sub-Saharan Africa. In a rare move, FSR cooperatives have begun to conduct business with and in the country. These new investments signify the FSR getting more involved with Africa. The FSR already maintains a vast economic and military presence in the NSR, and are seemingly branching outwards. Various cooperatives have already officially begun business with Rwanda, intent on developing the country's mining and infrastructure sectors. The cooperatives operating in Rwanda will keep the same structure as they use in the mainland, as in they'll still act as any other FSR cooperative, except one made up mainly of Rwandans rather than South Americans.

Regarding mining initiatives, new mines will extract various minerals, namely tin, tantalum, and tungsten. Tantalum is used in the manufacturing of electronics, an industry the FSR has been attempting to establish itself in as part of its First Five Year Plan. FSR construction cooperatives have also undertaken projects meant to improve the country's infrastructure. Through this, the country's first rail network will be built, as well as new hydroelectric dams to provide power for the country. With improved infrastructure, Rwanda could become a logistical hub for the region, which would further help it with its development. It's expected that the FSR will invest more into Rwanda in the coming years. There are also rumors of another important deal that's being negotiated, though it's currently unknown what it is.

While not as much of a priority as mining and infrastructure, there have also been investments in other areas of Rwanda, mainly tourism, though FSR news media have also been expanding operations in Rwanda. There are talks are underway regarding investments in industry or telecommunications, though those are still in progress. Some suspect that FSR investments in Rwanda will increase the next year, after the FSR's next annual budget is created.

New Weapons Unveiled

Today the FSR announced that it had acquired several new military technologies, including hypersonic cruise missiles and hypersonic glide vehicles. In addition, a new naval communications system would be put into service. Though not much has been announced on it, some see it as the FSR's response to the Japanese CLNK, as in it would allow for efficient coordination of undersea and surface forces. Dutch Carribean approves defensive measures!

Today the Dutch Carribean Ministers voted 4-1 to allow the GUAF to build defenses in the Carribean. With the ABC islands all voting aye. (OOC:The ministers use the old Dutch Dutch Congress building and thus are in Amsterdam) While its believed the ABC islands mostly voted aye due to the recent occupation and in the GUs eyes "undemocratic" referendum for independence where only Puertollano propaganda was allowed on the islands for months, despite GU attempts for freedom of press.

While the Navy has already stationed the reserve fleet in the carribean since the conflict with Puertollano, the new compounds will provide the necessary deterent to prevent what happened to ever happen again.

Here is the full proposal

2 VLS missile Compund with 300 VLS storage, 1 compound on each remaining island.

×125 Cruise Missiles (OOC: Supersonic, 1100 km range)

x50 SAM Missiles

x25 Anti-Ship Missiles

Each island will also he garrisoned by an additional 2 MEADS SAM Systems each.

Each island will now also host the Reserve and North Atlantic Marines giving each island a defense force of 8000 marines and 50 Tanks.

However due to space restrictions most of these marines will still be aboard the fleets ships and rotate out on to base.

NIB RELEASES NEW INDUSTRIAL DATA

The National Industrial Board has published data as part of its monthly industrial report that indicates the Federation industrial sector’s output grew at a rate of 11.4% last year. Major growth industries include chemicals, consumer goods, and steel. Most growth is concentrated in already industrial areas such as the east coast of Orostan and the west coast of Andea. 2% of this growth was from the construction of newer industry or new employment, with all the rest coming from productivity increases. The agricultural sector grew only 2.5%, a disappointing number attributed to crop difficulties caused by Zackrothian biological weapons and bad weather in Orostan’s interior. The FSR has been looking at applying it's emerging biotechnological industry to help mend the issue, though it's expected to take a while before it can start to take any major effect. though The NIB has also revised the GLP (Gross Labor product) of the economy and stated that it grew by 7% so far this year, with most of the growth coming from the industrial sector. Increased consumption by urban workers leads the NIB to revise its minimum required working day length number to seven hours.
CHINESE GUEST WORKERS ARRIVE TO FSR

Recently a guest workers program was ratified between the FSR and China. The program will allow for the DoL to recruit in China, and would also allow the Chinese people to easily get work visas to enter the FSR, typically for a one or two year term. After their contract is over, they'll be allowed to acquire permanent residencies if they wish to do so, but it's expected that many will return back to China bringing more technical skill sets with them. China would also benefit from the influx of remittances. Many Chinese people have already signed up for the program, with the opportunities of higher wages as well as the FSR's extensive social services. So far most of the new guest workers have been sent to Orostan as most would expect. Demand for the guest work outstripped original forecasts, leading to the planning of several new housing blocs in order to accommodate everyone. Some think this is due to the rising gang violence in China, which affected mostly the poorest neighborhoods - the leading demographic of those seeking employment in the FSR.

The Austro-Danubian Empire

Image

The Second Proconsular Elections

Emperor Martin von Habsburg-Lorraine announced the victors of the Empire's Second Proconsular Elections this morning from Schönbrunn Palace in the Imperial Capital of Vienna. Austrian political speculators have been shocked by the turn of events that have taken place over the last year of imperial politics, and the Empire's second ever set Proconsular Elections are no exception.

The Empire is ran by three executives. The standing Emperor is in charge of all political and diplomatic actions carried out by the Empire. The seat of Emperor is not an elected one, and will be passed down from generation to generation through the House of Habsburg-Lorraine. The Emperor is mentored by two sub-executives, whom are also known as "Proconsuls." Proconsuls also have authority over the Austro-Danubian Directory, and must both agree on a matter of government in order to trump the Speaker of the Directory. Shockingly, both the Austro-Danubian Hyper Democratic Party (a former upstart political movement) and the Imperial Party of Hellene's Stead have lost their Proconsular positions and both Proconsul Leo Mayr and Proconsul Edmond von Grau are to resign by the end of the day.

Announcing that he would run for the seat of Proconsul in May of 2020, Nicolae Dumitru won the minority seat and by the end of the day will be acting as one of the Empire's Proconsuls. Nicolae Dumitru, former leader of the "Romanian National Socialist Party" which recently reformed to become the "Austrian Iron Guard," ran with great support from his homeland of Romania. The controversial figure proudly flies the flag of the Iron Guard, a symbol only recently made popular once more since its use during the Second World War, has garnered much attraction through his controversial statements. During the opening ceremony of his Proconsular Campaign last year, he stated that "...the fact of the matter remains that despite the Emperor's best efforts, there are still Danubian peoples who are ripped apart from the Empire due to reasons out of their control..." Inexperienced when it comes to politics, there is no telling where Dumitru's Proconsularship will lead the nation. One thing is certain however, a nationalistic trend is establishing itself throughout the Eastern corner of the Empire, and they expect the "illegal state of Moldova" to be a thing of the past as a result of their voting.

The establishment Conservative Democratic Party has regained its seat at the executive helm of the government as former chancellor of the late Danubian Federation, Lukas Birschoffshausen, has won the majority seat. He announced his campaign after the liberation of Bratislava and the period of peace that was ushered in because of it. The popular figure lost during the First Proconsular Elections because of the unstable climate in which they were given (on the backdrop of the liberation of Metropolitan Austria). The dynamic between Birschoffshausen and Dumitru is one to be anticipated, as the former represents the traditional Austro-Danubian political climate and the latter represents a popular fringe movement.

The election for the Speaker of the Directory was also cast as Birschoffshausen's term had ended. The popular leader of the Vienna Party (the political party mostly responsible for Austrian Unification), Jonathon Müller, won the seat with a majority vote in the Directory.

Von Grau has been reported to have been relieved about the lack of his reelection, quoting that "...[he] will have more time to manage the matters of the Volkswehr, especially in Bratislava." Mayr announced in his closing statements that he was running for Governorship of Austria-Hungary, an election to be cast in two years.

The Continental Standard

Long live Europa

"Europe stands in solidarity"

This month has been one of the most significant in the history of the DEU. Even as the shadow of the conflict in Mauritania threatened to put a dampener on the mood of celebration in Strasbourg, Europe came together. The formation of the Continental Airspace Monitoring Directorate (CAMD) and Maritime Defense and Surveillance Force (MDSF) will ensure that Europe's security is reinforced through cooperation and coordination. This is supplemented by the newly-declared Mediterranean Military Exclusion Zone; in effect, a ban on foreign military vessels from entering the Mediterranean without consultation and approval. One of the leading governments behind the idea, the French Seventh Republic, said that they have consulted with major Mediterranean powers such as the British Imperial Federation, the URT, and Zackaroth prior to its formation and that the Exclusion Zone would have no adverse impacts to trade or the fleets of Mediterranean states. Finally, a Joint Law Enforcement Protocol will ensure that criminals are no longer able to abuse the freedom of movement offered by the EIM and also define the legality and process of both deportation and extradition of citizens from DEU EIM signatories. This month has been one of the most active for the DEU Assembly since its creation, so what made this particular month so special? The answer, we believe, lies with the emergence of the Eurasian Federation. The new Eurasian nation has already made clear their intention to be champions of the cause of Pan-European cooperation, and proved this by being the architects of the MDSF. as well as being among the first supporters of the other recent efforts. We at the Continental Standard hope to interview the new administration at some point in the near future, however we have yet to formally secure an appointment at this time.

So, what does the future hold for Europe? Well, for a start, "revolving doors can be installed in the DEU Assembly if the rate of proposals continues at the current pace," said a member of the French delegation. Meanwhile, Germany, the URT, Britain, Eurasia, and Iberia have all deployed forces to Mauritania alongside the French in order to wipe out the reborn ICN. Should this effort avoid the problems which plagued the CSN intervention in Nigeria then it is possible that this might be the start of a successful European military alliance; with the MDSF and CAMD now alongside the ESF and EDC as defense-focused DEU projects.

PSAN moves to crush renewed insurgency

North of the Benue river, in the territories of the PSAN, the Confederation garrisons have been put on high alert and deployed to quell any unrest emerging as a result of renewed ICN or socialist violence. Thankfully most internet access had been destroyed during the invasion, and so the spread of ICN ideals once more would be more limited than elsewhere, however the political and military commanders would be sure to assign increasing numbers of personnel to guarding key infrastructure facilities relating to water, food, electricity, healthcare, and administration, while public places and major bridges are also reinforced. UAVs, satellites, and patrols also search the jungle zones for any hidden holdouts to be eliminated.

National Assembly criminalizes Contraception and Abortion

Image

The National Assembly has voted 253-33 in today's final reading of Royal Act 1551 or the Act on Contraception and Abortion. The Act which is heavily pursued and asked for by the Tsar himself aims to increase Bulgaria's Population in accordance with the Tsar's Political Theory. The Act forbids pharmaceutical companies to distribute contraceptives (i.e Birth Control Pills, Condoms and Implants) to the general populace. Abortion Clinics are banned in the country and those caught aborting children would be fined 30,000 levs and a 6 month jail sentence. Those caught operating abortion clinics and distribution of contraceptives will be fined 100,000 levs and a 1-5 year jail sentence.

The Tsar plans to allocate 310,000,000 levs into the Ministry of Education's budget to educate children the importance of family values to society and to everyday life. Experts advocate an increase of the population by 10% by 2025 and an added 3% every two years. The Tsar plans to award Mothers and Fathers who bear 4 children and above and to give monthly subsidies of 5000 levs per children.

National Unity Government!

After a five month long political crisis; the Government in Athens, the Thessaloniki Administration and the Mirai-Preveza Special Administration reached a compromise: A Government of National Unity will be formed, and will hold power for six months until the upcoming elections.

The motives behind the decision is tricky, and have been a subject of debate for the last week. A summary of the views of political experts will be provided below;

Government in Athens

While successful in restoring its authority in the capital during the initial stages of the crisis, the measures taken by the government were heavily criticised, and caused wide distrust and disgust amongst the populace. The government lost its power over the country while trying to regain its power within the capital.

Despite the loss of legitimacy and respect, the government still had the police force and the navy on its side, and its bureaucracy was still intact and functional. However, the government itself was fractured with many cabinet members critising the actions taken by the police, the Ministry of the Interior and the Chancellor. As such, the government fell into chaos as the threats of insurrection began.

During the following five months, the Chancellor reconciled the ministers, cleansed the bureaucracy from the sympathisers of other factions and played for time, trying to organise the police force to defend Athens as a last resort.

After an order directly from the Empress to restore order quickly and through peaceful means came, the option of a war of political attrition became unsustainable, and the government opened up negotiations with Thessaloniki and Preveza.

Mirai-Preveza Administration

MPA was aware, from the start, that it wouldn’t be able to seize power and become the new government. However, their secrecy and operational integrity as the Intelligence Agency and the Main Confidential Research Organisation depended on a cooperative and functional government. As that wasn’t the case anymore, they announced their already suspected existence and issued the threat of insurrection. They wanted to empower a government more cooperative and stable than the current one.

Unfortunately, they were ill equipped to handle political attrition, as they lost their political assets within the bureaucracy after the swift actions of the Chancellor. In addition, their paramilitary forces, while superior to the police forces, were no match for the navy and were very costly to sustain for long duratios of time.

As such, they secretly disbanded many of their forces, and decided to observe the actions of the government from afar. After the negotiations demanded by the Empress took place, they successfully pushed for a Government of National Unity, and ensured some of the minister would be Mirai associates within the SPP and FSDF.

Thessaloniki Administration

Unlike Athens and Preveza, Thessaloniki was prepared for political attrition. The administration had wide citizen backing, and though not the support, but surely the sympathy of the Fregantese Armed Forces. What Thessaloniki lacked as a faction was organised combat forces to match the Navy Marines and the Special Forces of Athens and the paramilitaries of Preveza. The gendarmerie of the Central Macedonian Region refused to cooperate, while the police force wasn’t the necessary tool for an armed conflict. In addition, the Navy could blockade the city at any given time.

Thessaloniki Administration’s only hope for a possible victory was external support, but acquiring that support was near impossible. The attention of the international community was fixed on Galicia and on Mauritania, the Italian government was occupied with legal concerns, legal cases in Cape Thetis and administrative issues while its Austrian counterpart was dead silent for months. Even if the Italians and the Austrians were to respond and intervene, it surely wouldn’t be in favour of Thessaloniki.

As such, the Administration decided to provoke people, to further escalate the crisis, sow discontent and distrust against the government in Athens and hopefully catch the attention of the international community. The wide propaganda on both the newspapers and on the internet indeed soared unrest in Boeotia and Thessaly, but failed to attract any international aid. The crisis wasn’t a civil war, after all. Consequently, when the negotiations were opened, Thessaloniki accepted to participate, and through solid negotiating, secured the inclusion of the elements of FSDF into the new government and forced the government to end the Senate’s suspension. The Senate will reconvene tomorrow.

The Government of National Unity will be headed by the acting Chancellor, Jean-Martin Fleuchaim, and the three parties within the Senate will get near equal number of ministries. The new government will be in power until the next elections, but it was also declared that the Senate will be able to call for a vote of no confidence and early elections if the government descends into paralysis.

After the formalisation of the compromise, Chancellor Fleuchaim held a press conference and gave this speech:

« It is, although saddening, natural for all democracies to encounter challenges and difficulties. Just recently the French established a Seventh Republic, the USSR reorganised into a new federation; fundamentally changing their institutional fabric to solve the problems underlying their respective democracies. This crisis which has been raging for five months is caused by the political escalation of a procedural problem within the Senate, and was further aggrandised by mismanagement. I and the new government I am to lead, assure the citizens that those responsible for the mismanagement of the police forces during the initial protests and any other entity trying to undermine our free and democratic way of life will be brought to justice and will receive a fair trial. But for now, we can rejoice, for our young democracy survived its first crisis, and is to emerge stronger than before. The esteemed people of this country managed to solve its differences without causing a civil war.

As internal stability improves, the Fregantese Empire is to look outside. Tensions are present in Galicia and Mauritania, with the Transatlantic rivalry flaring up again. In these times we will stand with our European and URT partners, and pledge our support for a more integrated, cooperative, peaceful and prosperous Europe. We will work to regain the trust of investors and companies, and bring back commercial activity to our ports again. It is a time for optimism and dedication. The crisis is over, and ahead of us, is prosperity and stability. »
