You mean aside from this thread being based on the idea that you should not associate with women because they'll accuse you of raping them?

It’s really not just this thread.

The problem isn't shitty remakes it's content.

It's not really this thread at all, of course you could step in for Vass and provide a quote.

We're talking about the same thing. The tone and cavalier nature of blazing saddles would make it poison.

edit: I did however think that Crash was originally a play for some reason.

When the women leave the office, the men break out the liquor and invite the other girls (who are not employees).

At least that's how we do it here.

I'm talking about my actual place of employment, not Bear Stearns, which no longer exists.

I work at a company very similar to Bear Stearns, which is what has been described in the article.

It's not really an article or thread about getting drunk and inviting women to work, it's about the existing and potential backlash against women in the workplace as a result of #Metoo.

For your anecdote to even start to become relevant, you'd have to provide more information. For example, in the buyside fixed income team in which I work, something like a third of team members are women. Hence there is pretty much never a time when 'the women leave the office, and the men [do X]'. Nor is there scope to just avoid women altogether, because it'd just be impractical.

As I said once before in this thread, there is quite a bit of variety in the financial industry when it comes to the share of women among professionals (less than 50% but rising rapidly amid aggressive grad recruiting and juniorisation of recent years) and among managers (still very underrepresented), and when it comes to the policies and cultures of various teams and firms (e.g. large firms are aggressive about programs that provide women with avenues to leadership that would be closed if promotion only came via dudes taking a shine to each other over post-work beers at the strip club). You'll be able to find anecdotal stories to support almost any argument.
“Every age and generation must be as free to act for itself in all cases as the age and generations which preceded it. The vanity and presumption of governing beyond the grave is the most ridiculous and insolent of all tyrannies. Man has no property in man; neither has any generation a property in the generations which are to follow.”
