legion
Legion stalked his prey in kilingway. a young adult, the man was unlucky to travel past legion during his feeding times, moments that satisfie his hunger. the young man entered an alleyway where legion had set up an old mirror to transport to. he pulled out a hand-held mirror and jumped into it entering a greyed out world with blue lights only coming from the mirrors to indicate exits. the mirrors light soon started to fade so he had to be fast, he ran straight to the mirror in the alleyway and pulled out his knife then jumped through. the mirror he jumped through soon cracked just a little, but the man had passed it did not hear the noise of it cracking. he soon rushed the man, but he heard legion coming only to let out a single scream before a blade cut his throat. legion smiled under his mask enjoying every last bit of it like it was a drug to him. but people heard so and few men ran over to see what has happened and they saw legion eating the man he just killed. they slowly got closer some of the grabbing random object in the alleyway. as they neared legion looked back at them soon transforming into his wendigo state, the man backed away a little one even wet himself, but legion showed no pity he charged at them ripping them apart sending meat everywhere, his claws cutting the nearby stone. all that could be heard where there screams till they were suddenly silenced in seconds. he heard more people come but he did want to deal with anymore so he climbed up the nearby building, the people that came only saw some of him before he vanished above. the scene that was left made some of the men vomit, all that was left of the men from before was entrails and flesh were thrown everywhere, deep claw marks left across the walls. and in the very back on a wall was the symbol of the etira. he transformed back to normal and had Rasputin summon him almost an hour after Irina.

Irina

Irina was soon summoned by Rasputin “thank you, Ras, Legion is off enjoying himself for the time being so let him be right now” she looked around "interesting place, where are their books on medical" she put her hand behind her back and stepped away from the summoning circle as ras points her in the right direction

Kalingway,
Matt Remarkable

Matt was inside his room and he began to stare at the wall longingly for someone to accept him for what he is. It was consuming him he wasn’t accepted by anybody, he spoke to himself softly, “I’m worthless.” He stood up from his bed and looked towards the door, “I wanna be someone,” he ran towards the door as he spoke. Throwing the door open he ran down stairs and to the inn’s main door. He reached for his sword that was hung on the wall, then the innkeeper spoke to him.

“You going to get another job Matt?”

“Nope! I’m going to find my purpose,” Matt spoke with a sort of vigor the innkeep had never seen from him before.

“A purpose doesn’t pay your tab Matt,” the innkeep chuckled as he shooed Matt out the door. Matt gave a smile as he walked out the door and started to run through the streets. People’s faces whizzing by him as her ran, no clear goal in his head, no destination was set, but he ran to find his purpose.

Imperial Palace

Adelina Larot

"Induct me?" Adelina was shocked. She didn't know that the captain thought so highly of her. Adelina had been proving herself to people her entire life, and now it paid off. As Adelina was still processing the news, Caimus stirred and asked if the other Black Phoenix members had spoken to her. "Well sir, we actually just started. I...I still can't believe it." The anger and frustration she felt just a few moments ago was now replaced with anxiety. While she was a member of the Phoenix Knights, Adelina knew that the Black Phoenix would be a totally different obligation, but what exactly they did was not something she was aware of. Adelina continued talking. "I'm still unfamiliar with the duties we have to fulfill. You woke up just as we began."

Emperor Noburo

The Emperor was now visibly disturbed by the news the Phoenix Knight had give him. He did his best to keep his composure, but now he debated on whether or not he should inform the nobles at the conference of what he learned. During a routine inspection in Eravil, several Phoenix Knights discovered that the Scrolls of Eternity had been tampered with. The Knights kept a record of the forbidden spells that were in the vault, and so they found out that the resurrection spell had gone missing. The massacres that transpired recently have all resulted in the some of the corpses disappearing, and in some instances, showing up again somewhere else as if they were alive.

Noburo listened to Azreal voice his opinion. "I accept your request. We need as many competent people to assist us at this time. However, I would like to mention something that I think all of you would find to be crucial." The Emperor took a breath and spoke. "We believe that the Etira have access to a form of Curse Magic that allows them to resurrect the dead."

The Sayuga and Esquoria delegates

Luther Esquoria, who had been listening in on only some parts of the conversation, now payed full attention. He stopped eating and looked at his father, who kept a neutral expression but gave Luther a side-wards glance. Julian Sayuga spoke first. "So.... the Etira have been murdering innocent mages, while also having access to a resurrection spell. I believe you're implying that the corpses are being used for the spell. I'm assuming they are to be used as vessels for the soul of the dead to be attached to?"

Luther decided to say nothing. He wanted to get as much information as possible. This was a new turning point in the investigation. This information would heavily affect their actions. This better be correct. Or else we are going to be left behind in this race.

Dacryn Catacombs

Jade and Kiyonari

Kiyonari walked towards the coffin that Jade had pointed out. He once again formed a portal, this time he created one that led to their base. "We'll move the coffin through here." As Kiyonari gave out his orders, a thought crossed his mind. "While we walked across Dacryn, I noticed some newspapers talking about a conference that the Emperor called. After we transport this, I'll go and see what's happening. I like to keep us in the loop about things like this."

Jade used her wind magic to gently lift the coffin up, and while it began to waver, the coffin quickly became balanced. Jade carefully directed the coffin into the portal, and since she could see what was on the other side of the portal, Jade let the coffin descend. She nodded her head at Kiyonari's comments and walked through the portal, ready to begin her work.

Azreal

He looked at the emperor in surprise “the curse resurrection, the vary thing my great grandfather spent his life searching for” he pulled his hair back “we need to a curse reversal, but I don’t know where that ancient spell is, it could be in this one place I know of, but that would take almost forever “

Cross

Cross follows bringing in his coffin “time for the resurrection of some cool people” he giggles as he steps through pulling out a needle and thread “we will probably need to replace a few parts”

"just as i intended, it is to ensure the flow of knowledge." he smiles more "but in order to make that happen we must overthrow the emperor and employ our own rule" he put his hands out palms to the sky "we will work from the shadows using the knowledge of the black library in our favor" he then pulls out a book "this book translates all of the library, for each book in it holds a dangerous curse"

Do you know where I might be able to find a job… and discover my purpose?” Matt said with a slight smile on his face.

Izayoi

"So they've got a hold of some resurrection technique? What a pain," Izayoi sighed as he shook his head, "This grows more and more complicated every minute." He rolled thoughts over in his head several times over, I should go and hunt them down myself! But there is that young knight I have to train. He looked towards the Emperor, "Do you have any ideas about where they would head after acquiring that sort of ability?"

Dacryn Catacombs
Ayano

They have recovered this coffin, Ayano didn't know what was inside and she didn't intend to question either she needed to trust in her new allies. She noticed that Jade and Cross had entered through a portal that lead to someplace unfamiliar, their base perhaps? She kept quiet and entered approached the portal. She didn't know much of the powers the members of the Etra had but the most interesting to her was the portals that Kiyonari created. The ability also was rather interesting to Ira who had began to speak, "Your portal abilities are quite unusual, I've met people who could teleport themselves but none could sustain it in a semi-physical form."

Azami

Azami had been asking around for Jakob for a while now but she was beginning to run low on mana once again, she walked over to a nearby wall and let herself slide down to the floor. The shadows that were acting as a brace for her legs quickly vanished. She winced as her legs went limp again. She looked around the area she was in, it seemed familiar to her, like she had been here several times recently. It was at that very moment that she realized she had been walking in circles the whole time.

Outside Kalingway
Kishi Kusari

A tall figure shrouded in tattered red cloth was dragging himself towards the capital city of Kalingway. There was a tense air of suffering about him and he gave off a feeling of dread to anyone who approached him. If someone were to be near him they would certainly feel as if he held ill intentions, but the fact of the matter was quite the opposite. The man in the tattered cloth was considered by many to be a hero, they dubbed this man "The Knight in Chains," his real name is Kishi Kusari and he was on his way to Kalingway for food, drink, and a place to rest. As he approached the gate one of the guards began to shiver and looked away from Kishi as he sighed and walked past by him. Entering the city Kishi looked for the nearest in and entered. "Welcome to my inn!" the innkeep was washed over by the presence that Kishi carries but being how he is old and seen a many fights break out he was not phased by it, "How may I help you?"

"Bed and a meal please," Kishi spoke in a raspy and broken voice his simple words and voice carrying a great deal of his past on them.

"Not a problem. The first room on the right side of the hallway is yours for the night. You can either wait here for you meal or I can have someone come tell you?" the old man was kind to Kishi and it made him smile a small bit under his mask.

"Just send someone for me, I'll go wash up," Kishi stood and walked towards the room. The innkeep nodded as kishi walked away. Kishi entered the room and removed the mask he was wearing, setting it down on the bed. The red cloak soon followed after, he walked over to a small cauldron of water and splashed some onto his face in an attempt to wake himself up. It wasn't long until a knock was heard on his door followed by a quiet female voice.

"You meal is ready sir."

"Thank you," Kishi had put his red cloak back on but the mask is now dangling from his belt. Kishi continued out to eat the meal that was prepared for him.

Jakob
Freedoms call

"You need any help?" Jakob strolled up to Azami. His gaze was almost... amused. "You look a little lost. I presume you decided to stay?" He held out his hand. The woman who fought a powerful knight... so helpless now, it appears.

Caimus and the Black Phoenix Gang

Caimus pushed himself up and leaned on a wall. "Your duties as a black phoenix member shall be minimal at first. You require specialized training. Once you are a full member, however, you will essentially be tasked with acting as the emperors own secret police. We are his "black hands" so to speak. We perform private operations that other squads are incapable of doing. And we do it in secret."

I prefer she/they pronouns, and I enjoy not having to debate people over whether or not they should respect that. If they/them pronouns aren't something you're cool with, just use she/her. Thanks! -That same idiot, 2020

Kalingway

Alune Silenor

Alune was making her way through the city. She had just returned from an extremely small and out of the way village that had been suffering from a few minor bandit raids. For the last month she had attended to the sixty some residents of the village, healing the injuries caused by the attacks, most of which were not even magically caused, simple cuts and wounds from blades, easy for someone with her skill set to mend. Sadly though it soon became obvious the point of the mission here was to simply give her busy work. She wasn't one of the mages dealing with the bandits, neither was she even taken along by the others to search for them. Instead she had been ordered to remain in the village and help them with anything they asked.

Clenching her fist at that, the memory of her immediate superior and the other two mages with him returning to the sight of her helping the villagers with menial tasks made her furious. She was happy to help the villagers, not only was she ordered to, but the elderly man had lost his only help some years ago and was far too old to maintain his small shop alone in Alune's opinion. Still the incessant mocking from her comrades had driven her up the wall. Her bastard superior had done that often, purposefully given her busy work to get her out of his hair, and then mock her with the others for every single thing she did. Even when he ordered it.

The young mage tried to shake the thought from her head. It was aggravating, but it was a common occurrence that she should have been used to by now. To the majority of people in her line of work, she was a laughingstock, because of her grandfather. If not that she was a deplorable creature spawned from a pair of murderers. Sometimes that was preferable to the mocking though. Two years ago, no even a few months ago, she would have returned to her small home the moment she got back to the capital as she shed her tears in private. Not now though. Now she just let their actions push her along a little further.

As it was she really did need to see about maybe getting reassigned to a different region. The area around the capital may have been known well to her, but she was beginning to dislike the fact that it knew her just as well. If she could even get a single opportunity to prove to a few people her worth, without her family history hanging over her head, she knew that she could go far. She just needed a chance to prove that the Silenor family through her, wasn't the same as it was through her grandfather.

With that thought though it was time to eat. Swinging a right into a small establishment she ordered something cheap and fast. She had plenty of money, at least plenty enough to cover her expenses and then some, on top of her pay, even with all House Silenor had lost, they still maintained a sizeable estate in the country, as well as a small home here in Kalingway and a portion of a trading company after all. Alune wasn't one to flaunt that though. Besides the obvious expense placed into her attire, she largely made more than she spent every month which was good enough for some. Not for her though. She had become a member of the Phoenix Knights for a reason, and sitting around collecting pay wasn't that.

Finishing her meal she continued her walk at a less leisurely pace than before. She had duties to perform at the Palace, primarily clerical things of little import. Filling out a report of what she had done the last month chief among them. As she walked however she began thinking of something. She needed to have a way to get others to look past her family history when seeing her, thus she needed a bigger positive to her family's negative. Already a Phoenix Knight she had begun that road but still it was obviously not enough. Perhaps tying herself to the Knights would never be in itself enough, she needed to tie her name to another higher power in Cagia.

"It doesn't violate my vows to the Empire, by taking up additional service to a noble family...and the Capital hosts practically all of them throughout the year." At her thoughts a small faint smile curved her lips as she looked upwards to the palace ahead. "Perhaps I can see if one of the Greater Houses need a skilled medic, one who can eliminate nearly any poison. All I have to do is get close enough to get an audience."

A short while later Alune sat at her small desk. Pressed into a quite literal broom closet she worked away at her report for the mission to...what was the name of the village? It didn't matter either way. As she worked her mind was more focused on other things, such as the meeting between the Emperor himself and the Sayuga and Esquoria families. It wasn't hard to guess what the meeting was about. She had heard the talk about that Etira group and what they did in the south. Perhaps the fact that a new danger is present would make her specific skills even more desired.

After finishing her report she tapped her finger on her desk. Contemplating the best way to request an audience, and to whom specifically she should request it with. Slowly she began eliminating people from her mind. The Emperor, was honestly too high of a prize to even attempt at gaining the attention of. Surely he would be informed if one of his senior knights felt it necessary to recruit her for her specific traits. Not that having someone capable of removing poison from your very blood was a bad thing, but they no doubt knew she could put one there just as easily. She doubted she would ever even be within a foot of the man.

The other nobles though. Perhaps they could be swayed to hear her out. If she could make them wonder about her abilities enough surely she could convince them in person to take her on as an aide if not a bodyguard. She didn't care, just something beyond these meaningless petty tasks she did now. So she began her letter. It would be easy enough to get that to even the emperor. A message from a Knight passed up the ranks, to the proper recipient. Easy. Although the many thoughts of instant rejection ran through her head upon the thought. The mocking and ridicule for something like this. She could already hear her bastard boss laughing at her now.

Calming down she pulled out a new clean page and began anyway. Ridicule never stopped her before, why the hell would she let it now, if they didn't see her usefulness than that was on them she was just giving them a chance to utilize her abilities. That was what she kept telling herself as she wrote at least.

His Lordship Esqouria,

I beg your forgiveness for such an odd manner of making contact with you. I realize perhaps different more official channels would have better put you at ease for my intentions, however I implore you to at the very least read to the end of this message I have sent to you. I will cut directly to the chase. I am under the employ of his Majesty's Phoenix Knight, myself having been a member for some months. In my station I hear much of the goings on for the military if not Cagia as a whole. Thus I have heard talk of an organization known as Etira. I do not play at knowing anything more about the Etira than the fact that they are a threat to the whole of our people. A threat to you and the other members of the great houses especially. I wish to request an audience with you, so that I might be given the opportunity to properly express my strength's and abilities in person, but I offer to you the fact that as last of the Silenor family, my abilities in magic greatly revolve around the use of my blood, most interestingly I think you will find my specific skill set revolves primarily around that of healing both wound and illness, including the complete removal of poisons.

Should it interest you to take up my request you would have my sincerest gratitude.

Regards,
Junior Member of the Phoenix Knights, Alune Silenor.

Imperial Palace

Noburo

Noburo listened to the questions and possible solutions posed by the nobles at the table. "I believe there may be a spell to reverse the resurrection curse. However, such knowledge is hidden in the Scrolls of Eternity in Eravil. My Knights are searching for it as we speak. I don't know too much about that curse, but I do know that it does require a living sacrifice to complete. And as for where they might go....there are countless possibilities. The recent massacres have taken place in the desert regions near Aesyerus, which makes me believe-" Noburo suddenly paused. He began to breathe heavily, and looked around the room. "The Etira are most likely heading to grave sites where powerful mages are buried. More specifically, I believe they might go to the Allegrodo Estate in Aesyerus. Their plan may be to resurrect Dyfores Allegrodo, one of the Three Elites and the most powerful archmage to ever grace this planet." The Emperor stood up and motioned for one of the Phoenix Knights to walk to him. "Have the Knights and Interior Guard patrol the cemeteries, especially those where high ranking mages have been buried. We can't take any chances."

Adelina Larot

Adelina listened carefully to what Caimus was saying. When he was finished, she looked towards him, and asked, "What type of training would I require, and when will I begin? What role will I have during the training process? Also, you say that we do the missions no one else can in secret. I'm assuming you all are Esoterics? My magic is based more around Fire, specifically, explosions. Does this mean that I will undertake training to become well versed in elements such as Wind?

Esquoria Estate

One of the servants of the Esquoria family was sorting through the various letters sent to the estate. As the she was doing so, she noticed that one of the letters was from a member of the Phoenix Knights, directed to the head of the house. While such letters were not considered to be rare, they certainly weren't a common occurrence either. The servant opened the letter, and saw that it was from someone who was born into the infamous Silenor House. She quickly set the letter back into its envelope and left the estate. She traveled from the estate to the Imperial Palace, which would have taken about twenty minutes at most. When she got into walking distance of the palace gates, several Phoenix Knights intercepted her and informed her that no one who wasn't a noble was allowed to pass. The servant was wearing attire that clearly showed her status as a lower class indentured servant, and although embarrassed, she still held her head high, and said that the letter must be given to the Esquoria delegates. The Knights took a look at the letter, and left the servant outside while one of them went into the palace. The Knight carrying the letter quickly walked into the conference room and delivered it to Alexander Esquoria.

Etira Base

Kiyonari waited for everyone to walk through the portal, and after taking count, he closed it. Ayano's summon spoke, admiring Kiyonari's portal magic. He smiled and replied. "Space-time manipulation is a form of magic that is not perfected like the other forms of magic. However, I seemed to awaken this ability during my teenage years, which would make me an Esoteric. No other mage would be able to replicate this form of magic just yet in our current society-"

"Ahem. I believe we have more important things to tend to right now. You can rant about our society later," Jade interjected.

"Right," Kiyonari responded. He immediately became more serious and continued. "Begin."

Jade turned towards Cross. "No need for that. My Restoration Magic will do everything you can do, but much faster." She into a bag and pulled out a scroll, and laid it on the ground. Jade motioned for the other Etira members to step back, and started the resurrection. The scroll was covered with various black symbols, except for the middle of the scroll, which was completely blank. She bit her thumb, and placed it in blank space of the scroll. Jade sat down, and took a deep breath, and recited the incantation required to begin the resurrection. "Chyrón, allow me to enter the realm of the dead." As soon as the words were said, Jade's eyes turned a light aqua, and a strong wind left the scroll, blowing her hair backwards. Jade stood, and walked towards the coffin and opened it. She extended her hands over the opening, and there was a strange sound as she brought her hands back. Baesu's body was restored, and now all she had to do was bring him back to life. She went back to the scroll and touched it.

With the DNA of Baesu now on it, the once black words turned a bright blue. After a few seconds, Jade used her Wind Magic to lift the restored corpse of Baesu and placed it in the middle of the scroll. "Return, Baesu Sayuga of Cagia. Your soul is bounded to me." The corpse turned blue. Jade's eyes returned to their normal color. "He is now in the living world again." Jade said as she took a few steps back. Baesu opened his eyes and began to stir. "There is no need to worry. I control all his actions, for now anyway. I'll restore his personality after we get to know him a little more.

Kiyonari walked towards Jade and gave her a Magic Restoration pill. "Don't over exert yourself. I'll be in Kalingway for the next few hours." With that, Kiyonari opened a portal leading to the capital, and stepped into it.

Cross

He stepped back and watched “I feel there is more at work that we must do” he smiles and nodded to himself “I believe due to all your murders we haven’t gone unnoticed which can mean trouble when we go for the others”

Azreal

“We May have a mage who knows the spell, but we need his to get close and the guy able to read it” he rubbed his chin “We need to fiqure a way out or...” he slams his hands down “we are done for”

Legion

He tapped the ground next to where he was sitting impatiently “I’m getting bored old man” he growled and snipped at anyone who came near “Rasputin!” He kept getting more and more impatient

Rasputin walked over “the hell you need legion”

Legion stared at him and growled “kilingway, now”

Rasputin rolled his eyes “let me set up the return summon, the instant Thanatos is done with whatever, we need to set up the assassination, Thanatos was able to set up the summon circle on the roof and we need you to get in there thanks to your low mana reserve”

Legion nodded and let him put the mark on his back, he smiled as he did so and Rasputin teleported him to kilingway

Freedom's Call

Freedom's Call
Azami

She grabbed his hand and gathered some shadows around her legs once again to help her stand. "Yeah, I'm staying. I'm still rather low on mana, and it's impairing my sense of direction," her voice was soft and quiet, as if she hadn't slept in weeks. Her red eyes had dulled and faded and her skin was pale due to her lack of mana.

Emperor's Palace
Izayoi

"So you think they'll head for the elites? That's would be a good plan... I'll go and watch to the grave of Dyfores with the rest of your guards." Izayoi's voice was backed by an essence that would scare someone if they had paired it with his expression. He clearly had a plan, it would have seemed sinister if it wasn't for his standing with the Phoenix Knights. "It'll be a good training experience for the young knight back at the estate," Izayoi smiled as he began to walk towards the door, "Tell the knights to expect me."

Jakob

"Ah. Of course. After such a large, fight its only natural to be low on mana. Is there anything I can help you with? After all, we need all our members in top condition. We soon plan to mobilize, once our little operative group in Dacryn have returned." Jakob's eyes were warm, welcoming. He was clearly trying to make himself seem as friendly as possible, a persona reserved for new recruits. With Azami's cautious pretenses, Jakob had to do all he could to ease her nerve. He smiled calmly. Azami could be a powerful ally... of course, she could become a dangerous enemy, should she decide to ally with the emperor...

Caimus

"Yes. Seeing as you mainly specialize in fire magic, and not a very subtle sort of it, you will receive training in broader aspects of elemental magic. As it is impossible to teach you esoteric magic, we will focus mainly on that form. As for when your training will begin... hard to say. I'm currently out of commision, and thus I can't train you at the moment. Likely within a week, at most." Caimus pushed himself further up the wall. "One more thing. Before you make your decision... being a part of the Black Phoenix is a lonely existence. It requires you to essentially cut ties with any and all who knew you before you joined. Obscure your past. Dedicate your life to the empire, until the day you die. Once you join us, there is no turning back." His gaze was serious. "Would you give up what could be a normal life, well, as normal as the life of a Phoenix Knight can be... to dedicate yourself to a cause that cares not for the lives of its members?" The other Black Phoenix members stood solemnly as he spoke. All of them knew the cost of the life they followed. "So... what say you?"

I prefer she/they pronouns, and I enjoy not having to debate people over whether or not they should respect that. If they/them pronouns aren't something you're cool with, just use she/her. Thanks! -That same idiot, 2020

"To help me?" Azami looked up as she thought to herself, How do I put this without seeming threatening? I guess I really can't. She looked back down at Jakob, "My mana regeneration is naturally slow, it's the fundamental issue with my magic. I replenish my magic and health by draining the life of people and creature." As she said that her voice quieted and she dropped her gaze to the ground seemingly in sorrow.
