The point is, if we don't wanna end up like Europe, we should do something different from what they do right?

But that doesn't mean we should turn America into a military dictatorship like Loben wants.

Just on the difference between China, Europe and the US.. it was neatly caught in an article on attitudes to data. In China it is assumed that data is owned by the state first and foremost. In the US it is assumed data is held by the corporations who extract it. In Europe it's assumed data is owned by the individual. Hence Europe has GDPR whereas the other two don't.

Frankly Europe has the very best ideals when it comes to the welfare and benefit of the individual. China places the state first and the US is caught in believing the marketing of corporations that to buy their products is freedom, a tactic refined by the tobacco industry.

And that very much explains how Trump can sell his bullshit under the name of freedom.

Man, if only there were some sort of website or forum type thing where people could just make their own nations and then fantasy roleplay whatever their weird theoretical governance they wanted and piss on each other about the merits and problems with their pet political fantasy and then, in a little corner marked "General" maybe, discussions of real world events and politics could take place.

I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in the stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Council-er or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I can't agree with your methods of direct action;" who paternalistically feels he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by the myth of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait until a "more convenient season." -MLK Jr.

Truly a punchable face.
Crimes committed by Muslims will be proof of a pan-Islamic plot and Islam's inherent evil. On the other hand, crimes committed by non-Muslims will merely be the acts of mentally ill lone wolves who do not represent their professed belief system at all.
The probability of someone secretly participating in homosexual acts is directly proportional to the frequency and loudness of their publicly professed disapproval and/or disgust for homosexuality.
If Donald Trump accuses an individual of malfeasance without evidence, it is almost a certainty either he or someone associated with him has in fact committed that very same malfeasance to a greater degree.

The red hat capacity for cognitive dissonance is remarkable.

Trump hires the best people because he's a great businessman, not a politician, so he recognizes talent!

Also, the record breaking turnover in his Administration is because all those people he hired were stupid, lazy and incompetent!

Ah, context...
The biting words came after Tillerson, in an appearance at a charity event in Houston, said their relationship soured over Trump’s repeated demands that Tillerson do things that were illegal.

“So often, the president would say, ‘Here’s what I want you to do, and here’s how I want you to do it,’ ” Tillerson said at a fundraiser for the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, in his first public remarks about his truncated tenure since he was let go in March.

“And I would have to say to him, ‘Mr. President, I understand what you want to do. But you can’t do it that way. It violates the law,’ ” he said.
...
In his remarks, Tillerson did not offer any specific examples of which requests he deemed illegal. He said he offered to work to change the law, but that apparently did not curb Trump’s frustration.

“I’d say, ‘Here’s what we can do,’ ” Tillerson said. “ ‘We can go back to Congress and get this law changed. And if that’s what you want to do, there’s nothing wrong with that.’ I told him, ‘I’m ready to go up there and fight the fight, if that’s what you want to do.’ ”

So basically Trump says another stupid thing on twitter. I wonder what news he is trying to overshadow this time? Maybe the stuff about it looks like we might be heading for another recession?
