Heyo NSG! I figured that since Christmas is drawing near, we should talk about food! Maybe share some ideas and recipes for what to make this Christmas. So, what do you guys make for Christmas Dinner?

As for my family and I, we make the basic stuff, like turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, stuffing, pumpkin pie and apple pie. But we also make some other treats like pierogies, and kolaczkies and blueberry cheesecake.

We usually do turkey and or ham, mashed potatos, and other stuff that I don't remember off the top of my head.

I always make my beef stir fry and dumplings, and then I supplement with whatever I can find

Kolaczki are Polish creme cheese biscuits, so I am assuming that is what was meant.

As for us, hopefully we will have:
miniature toasts with foie gras and roasted figs
Chestnut and pumpkin soup with bacon and chives
roasted pheasant with chestnut stuffing (we might have to substitute a turkey)
potatoes roasted with sage and rosemary
haricots verts with fennel and shallots
Salad of Spinach with honey vinaigrette
cheese platter
Bûche de Noël

That is subject to the availability of everything, and a good wine pairing. If I have the energy I might try to work out something for an additional 12 desserts, but, with respect to the Apostles, I am not certain each of them merits a dessert on the table.

As a kid, I probably looked forward to Christmas dinner more than thanksgiving thanks to this really awesome ham my mom would buy. I mean, we still get the ham and it’s still good, but as a Uni student, food in general is pretty exciting nowadays.
