WELCOME TO THE 43RD WORLD HIT FESTIVAL
Burgendore, Britonisea

WHF NETWORK - DRAFT THREAD - IC THREAD

Welcome to Britonisea!

Britonisea won the World Hit Festival for the third time last edition in Kalosia as well-known pop singer, Evangeline Hope, stormed to victory with a total of 34 points with her song, "When Our Eyes Meet". In what will be it's fourth hosting, BVC and Britonisea are getting ready to invite the world to a city which most wouldn't have heard of before...Burgendore! We look forward to seeing all the participating nations in Burgendore, Britonisea!

Fabio McAlpine
World Hit Festival Overseer

What is the World Hit Festival?
The World Hit Fesitval (WHF) is a multiversal song competition. Each nation shall enter 1 song and 1 artist, and it shall be 'performed' via roleplay. Most nations tend to use a real life tune as a musical backing, but every entry submitted to the World Hit Festival is required to have original lyrics (ie. if you submit a tune, you must re-write the lyrics), so this does mean that instrumental entries are blocked from entering the contest.

WHF operates with three threads, the OOC, Draft, and IC threads. The one you are seeing now is the OOC/Sign-ups thread, the main place for you to discuss the contest, reveal your entrant, etc. All OOC chatter goes here. The Draft Thread, opened by the host, is the second thread opened up during a WHF contest, and this draft thread is where nations will post and work on their entries until a deadline determined by the host. The IC thread, also opened by the host is the third and final thread attached to a WHF, and it is where the host will transfer your entries.

The World Hit Festival has had a very long history in NationStates, and a thread by the second overseer (Euskirribakondara) has been created to compile this long history. Click here for a thread with links to every OOC and IC thread of all World Hit Festivals so far. Click this for a statistical database of all WHF participants. For winners, click here to see a full list of all WHF winners with links to their entries.

Schedule
Draft Thread Opens: Monday 10th December 2018
Sign-Ups Close: Thursday 20th December 2018
Draft Thread Closes, IC Thread Up: Thursday 27th December 2018
Voting Deadline: Monday 7th January 2019
Grand Final Winner Known By: Sunday 13th January 2019

If you would like to participate at the World Hit Festival, please complete the form below.

For WHF veterans, this sign-up form will look very familiar as it is the same sign-up form for the past 15 editions. However, for debutantes, I have provided a sample application using WHF32's winning entry in a spoiler, with explanations in brackets.

Nation: Euskirribakondara (name of your nation goes here)
Broadcaster: EUSK1 (name of your broadcaster goes here, and this is usually your national broadcaster that would broadcast the WHF. For a real life comparison, think of the BBC in the UK.)

Song Title: "По, Дај Ми Любавте" (name of your song)
Artist: Nadija Djokanović (the name of the artist that will 'perform' the song in your roleplay.)
Language(s): Sirbadian, Euskal, Hinga (the language(s) that your lyrics will be performed in)
Title Transcription (if required): "Po, Daj Mi Ljubavte" (if your song's language utilizes another script such as Cyrillic, you would put the romanization of that title here. In this example, По, Дај Ми Любавте is Po, Daj Mi Ljubavte. Otherwise, this part can be omitted.)
Title Translation (if required): Come On, Give Me Your Love (the translation of your song's title to English. If your song is in English already, this part can also be omitted.)
Tune: Here (most WHF tunes will have tunes attached to them, such as this entry using Poli Genova's If Love Was a Crime. If you are using a tune, do provide a link of the tune in this form. However, there are cases in which users do not submit a tune and use self-penned songs, in which case, filling out this part is not required.)

Head of Delegation: (The Head of Delegation is the person who is in charge of your delegation at the 42nd World Hit Festival. If you have already provided information about this, you do not have to fill this part of the form out)

Participating Nations: As of December 20
  1. Adab - Khalid Aziz

It's a lot to take in, but as I've mentioned before, there are nations here that are willing to help. If you have any questions, don't be afraid to ask them on this thread or to TG any of us. Most importantly, enjoy your time here and enjoy the music.

Rules and Procedures
Contest
  1. A nation is allowed to submit 2 puppets maximum to the contest, meaning that a user can be controlling at most 3 nations in the contest.
  2. Nations must send a full ranking of all nations on the IC Thread to the host of the competition when the voting opens.
  3. The nation ranked first will receive 5 points, the nation ranked second will receive 4 points etc. Nations ranked 6th or below will not receive any points.
  4. Users are allowed to receive 8 points maximum from their puppets. Meaning, a user with three nations can use Nation B and C (with B and C giving 4 points each) to give Nation A 8 points total, but nothing more.
  5. A nation is also expected to vote, but there is no penalty for not voting. The host will make up your votes in the event that they do not have your votes.
  6. All or at least most of the written lyrics must be original. Should any user spot any concerns, don't hesitate to let the overseer or current host know.
  7. In order for Semi Finals to be initiated, there must be enough nations for there to be 14 nations per Semi Final. The number of participants before Semi Finals are initiated will be dependent on circumstances.
  8. In the unlikely event of there being 40 or more complete entries, the top 5 from last edition (including the host) will qualify automatically to the Grand Final.
  9. The maximum amount of nations that can participate at any World Hit Festival is 47 (including the host).
Hosting
  1. The winner of the competition will automatically be given the right to host the competition. The winner will have 72 hours (maximum) to announce their interest in hosting the Festival to the Overseer.
  2. The host must not reveal their acceptance of hosting until the Overseer has announced it on the WHF Network.
  3. If within the first 72 hours, the host either doesn't announce their interest of hosting the proceeding contest or declines hosting rights, the nation who came 2nd will be asked. If declined five times, the World Hit Overseer has to host the World Hit Festival.
  4. If the host abandons their host duties, the World Hit Overseer will be responsible for what left needs to be done.
  5. We would like to ensure all World Hit Festival hosts can host the competition to the best of their ability. If you have any concerns about hosting if given the opportunity to, don't hesitate to speak to the World Hit Overseer.

World Hit Festival 42 Catch-Up!

Postby Britonisea » Thu Nov 29, 2018 2:02 pm

  • Looking at the statistics from the Full Ranking, out of the twenty nations that voted, 16 of them provided sufficient full rankings.
  • The nations that received the most amount of 6th places were Grellenbyoosa-Ga and Todlichebujoku, both receiving three each.
  • Seven out of the 20 nations that participated received last places. Vartugia received the most, receiving 6 last places.
  • The winner received 35.8% of the total points, which is around 4.2% lower than the edition before.
  • Only 1 nation voted the eventual winner of the competition 1st - Izmedu.

Image

  • Kalosia had successful hosted their fourth World Hit Festival competition (19, 26, 37 and now 42)
  • Out of the four times Kalosia has hosted, Britonisea has been announced as the winner three times - they have never won outside of Kalosia.
  • This therefore means that Britonisea is the next host after Kalosia on three of the four different occasions.
  • The winner's running order position, 19, has been the same for the past two editions.

Host Information: World Hit Festival 43

Postby Britonisea » Thu Nov 29, 2018 2:04 pm

Welcome to Britonisea! This is the fourth time that we are heading to the nation, with Kyvivre (27), Junterapten (35) and Doportedas (38) all recently hosting the competition. The three cities that had hosted were among some of the major cities within the mainland Britonisea, and along with the cities that had hosted the WorldVision Song Contest, we thought that it would be a great idea to take the World Hit Festival away from the mainland and host it on one of the offshore territories - Ghiezland.

Image

The city of Burgendore is the second largest city on the island of Ghiezland, with the city of Ghiez being the largest. Burgendore has a total population of just over 1 million which is enough people to make it feel like a large centre - something that we think is needed for such a big event like the World Hit Festival.

Below, you can see some pictures of the stage.

I would like to make my postcards rather unique to how I have been doing them in the past few editions. Along with a header which I will creative, each nation will have a postcard (which will probably be bigger) to show the camera shot that our team will show before the actual song starts. Every nation will have different shots of the arena, with further away shots an option, close-ups and other camera choices that the BVC team will decide. On the screen will be the nation and what song number it is. Hopefully, if I can get the hand of Sketchup before the IC Thread goes up, the stage will be different depending on which nation it is, with each nation getting their own unique colour coordination on the stage and some information about the upcoming entry. This, however, does depend on whether I will have the time to do it. This is a basic, unfinished idea of what the postcards will look like. I will update everyone soon!

There has been some thought regarding who should host the World Hit Festival 43. As many of you are aware, this will be the fourth time that we are hosting the Festival and with that in mind, we wanted to have hosts that wasn't too similar to the combinations that we've had in previous editions. At the 27th World Hit Festival, Mini Surrey-North and Rigas Jengiz were the ones who hosted the competition (2 females). At the World Hit Festival 35, we had Kyle Chase host the competition all by himself, but we did have Evangeline Hope supporting the Greenroom before making her way to the main stage for the voting reveal. For the 38th World Hit Festival, we had the two gentlemen Luan and Aharon hosting the competition and so we thought it would be fine to have one male and one female to host the competition this time around.

After some careful consideration, the female host that BVC chose was Evangeline Hope. Not only coming off the back of a World Hit Festival win (and therefore, her hosting would be absolutely perfect) but Evangeline Hope is very multi-talented. After having hosted at the 35th World Hit Festival and all the Vha Mehlodhivestoile 2018 shows alongside Santiago Carillion, it was a fantastic opportunity for Evangeline to come back on the stage hosting. The male that was chosen to host the competition was Elias Auvergne-Lancey who is another well-known Aloquirbic host who has made his way throughout the whole of the ABEN Union. Hosting several competitions within the Union and the ability to speak multiple languages including Britonish and English, he was a great choice to show what Britonisea is about - he is a true representation of a Briton-Aloquirb! Together, the pair have been working very closely to make a perfect show with both of them expected to wow the audience throughout the competition - though - not taking the limelight away from the participants.

The voting procedure will be announced once all the votes are in. Most likely, the voting procedure will follow the format used at the 27th World Hit Festival in Kyvivre, where the nations announced their 4-1 points first and then the five points will be announced in phase 2. This might change based on how the results come through and how to make the voting reveal as dramatic and interesting as possible. The voting procedure will not take more than 6 days, but I will aim to make it around 5 days long - I am not sure I will be able to post any results on the Saturday before the final Sunday - but I will have a look and see what I can do.

Below are some pictures of what the scoreboard will look like. Bare in mind that the points in these aren't exactly accurate...

INTERNATIONAL SUBMISSIONS ARE STILL OPEN!
NATIONS CAN SIGN UP MULTIPLE ARTISTS!

Once again, Britonisea and BVC are opening their arms out to the international community, asking whether you would like a chance to represent Britonisea at either WorldVision Song Contest or the World Hit Festival by going through our national final - Vha Mehlodhivestoile 2019! In what will be the fourth edition of the now well-known competition, we are asking international artists to join us in either Telm City, St Kings Bay or Burgendore for the Semi Finals!

24 songs are already entered in to Vha Mehlodhivestoile 2019 through "The Britonish Selection", but an international artist could easily steal their place! Could it be you?

Short Summary about Song: As I will write the lyrics and staging, what do you imagine the song being about? This will also factor in when deciding whether your entry will be accepted into Vha Mehlodhivestoile 2019.
