Biologicals are not allowed to "rank" in our nation. They are no more than beasts of burden, and they spend their entire working lives in our mines and other such locations doing hard labor.

While it is not impossible for a biological to become a Decepticon citizen (which in itself is a huge jump in social status compared to their prior rank of "livestock,") that process involves - among other things - being mind-transferred to a proper Decepticon body. Then, some rank very well - but they are no longer either "women" or "men," but robots like the rest of us citizens. Application of the Desexualization Patch makes this more than a semantic distinction, and most former biologicals will get the Patch sooner or later rather than either be constantly frustrated or have to pay our "unique professionals" huge amounts of money for relief, regardless of their previous sex or gender.

She served ten years as head of the Department of Literature and Languages at the ancient and prestigeous New Caerphilly University. However, she proved regrettably efficient, energetic and capable (for a Melvonian) and was therefore demoted to Foreign Minister.
In the military, all serving personnel are both female and gay, since the government last considered the question on National 'Just Click Anything' Day (aka Friday). Melvonia's armed force is tiny, and consists of the single coastguard cruiser the MSS Trilobite. Captain Desdemona Salvatia is in command, as a result of losing a poker game.
Captain Salvatia was formerly married to Her Grace the Rev. Dr Arial Bold, Archbishop of Epoche and Primate of Melvonia, our highest ranking cleric. She is by all accounts an exceptionally good Archbishop, promoting such cherished Melvonian church traditions as Cocktail Hour Vespers, the Blessing of Bongs and Friday Night Drag Sermons, and remains patiently awaiting a call from the Vatican regarding her promotion to Cardinal. In terms of social rank, Melvonia does have a system of nobility, but literally nobody understands it.

Women do not hold positions of official power in the Freehold politically, economically, economically, or in the family by Ephyral and Selian custom and law. However, across history, women have always held some form of power be it recognised or not, and this could be through wealth, influence of individuals with official power, or a variety of other means. Selian women have reigned as queens regnant of some Selian states, if not consistently, though the Freehold itself has never known female rulers.

With the unification of most Selians under the Freehold's banner, with those existing outside being most likely expatriates of the Freehold rather than the descendants of non-integrated groups, a general end was put to female official rule. Traditional Selian patriarchy dictates the structure of power in Ephyra, and women are prohibited from the military, politics, and due to their own social and familial obligations, do not participate n any higher realms of the economy. In the household, the concept of girlhood, motherhood, widowhood, is common. The girl lives under the political authority of her father. She remains under such authority as a mother, though is supported instead by her husband. As a widow, she is typically dependent upon her eldest son, or multiple sons, or perhaps a surviving brother.

Within this family network the most prominent women emerge, and the highest ranking women are unofficially the wives of the Archons elected to lead the Freehold. They hold no official title, but much as Archons are considered invested with the split power of the original tyrants of Ephyra, and are commonly regarded as princes in such a fashion by subject peoples, their wives are seen as the princess consorts as a best analogy. They are unable to exercise any power politically by official means but a woman influencing her husband as Archon is not unheard of, though often the cause for social outcry. A number of Archons have been prematurely removed from office due to their wife's political hold on them, and often these women are punished for the disruption of the proper process.

Despite this, the wives of the Archons are informally regarded as the mothers of the Ephyral, and are permitted to interact from that station with the general population. They exist still under the house of their husband, Archon or not, and are therefore politically subordinate to him as both Archon and husband. In this sense, the wife of an Archon is seen mostly as the public example of feminine virtue, as her adherence to feminine virtue bolsters her husband's public credibility whilst her contempt for proper behaviour and so forth is seen as damaging to him. These women therefore function as idealised role models of proper womanhood, and honoured as devoted wives and mothers.

Under the current tenure of Lykos Anikidios Valinarys and Lykos Likinios Laerthos, the two women unofficially holding this position are Elynea Anikidia Valinarys, niece and wife of Lykos Ankidios Valinarys, and Laenya Aria Kolkiris, the second wife of Lykos Likinios Laerthos. It is seen as a sign of united leadership if the wives of the two Archons are seen in friendship and sisterhood together, often addressing each other as such. Elynea and Laenya have made public appearances together independent from their husbands, though are always in attendance with them, and are seen positively by the public.

However, whilst the wives of the Archons hold such status, an argument could be made that it is the daughters of Archons who hold the most immediately influence, particularly the unwed ones. Because, though rarely immediately, the office is often held by the same families, or as a means of patron-client networking, to become the husband of an Archon's daughter can be quite advantageous, as it gives one an ally through her family. To be the son-in-law of one Archon, and years later, the brother-in-law of another, is itself quite prestigious due to the emphasis on family but can also have material benefits. The daughters of the Archons are rightly considered to be the most eligible females in the Freehold, often seen as akin to royal marriage opportunities. Lykos Anikidios Valinarys has just one daughter, who is already married. Whilst Lykos Likinios Laerthos has four; two by his first wife and two by his second, of which the first two are wed. Helaela and Ayrella Likinia Laerthos, known commonly as Likinia Maiora and Likinia Minora, are therefore arguably the two most influential women in the Freehold, and certainly the most eligible.

Women have historically played a very limited role in government in Carloso. As of 2018, no President of the Executive Council has been a female. The 'highest ranking' member of the Government who is a female is the Minister for Maternal Affairs, Kayla Armstrong.
