Attempted terrorist sparks debate

TACT Police and Australian troops managed to stop an attempted
terrorist attack with a tip from the army's intelligence division

CANBERA - Following a police-military operation that foiled an attempted terrorist attack in Warri, Nigeria the Legislature House has once again opened the issue of maintaining substantial military forces in Nigeria and the budding government cost of maintaining the new protectorate. The opposition has remained very vocal in stating that the country should finally give the TACT a legitimate ruling government that could overlook the entire protectorate's own affairs, excluding foreign affairs and defense. According to the latest surveys conducted by Trust Australia Intl, almost 76% of Australians think that the government should give the TACT its own local government while 15% think that the government must integrate the TACT back to a united Nigeria. The current TACT is currently administered by the Australian Army, although the military had already given local government units freedom to operate, the Australian Army has expressed its concerns of managing the protectorate for a long time and had stated that it will be of the best interests of the TACT and Australia to give the protectorate a ruling goverment.

A key topic of discussion in the House is the overall financial burden of maintaining the TACT, government sources report that the TACT has been given close to $44.00B in money, kind and projects while only contributing $839.3M dollars in that time, but which has been attributed by the government to the reconstruction process of the TACT as well as the cost of maintaing approximately 80,000 soldiers, a number many have stated to be too much big for the country to shoulder for an extended period. But the government deliberated that in light of the recent terrorist attacks and radical movements in Nigeria and Africa that a substantial force may be necessary in order to counter any threat to the defense of the protectorate and Nigeria.

Dawn of the Pacific Federation

Early this morning after months of talks and discussions, the former territories of Japan and JDOC have created a new government and a new nation to govern the Pacific Territories: the Pacific Federation. This Pacific State is comprised of the Marshall Islands, Kiribati, The Ryukyu Islands, The Marianas Islands, Hokkaido, and Taiwan and has military authority over the Pacific Shield, the Abyss, and the Pacific Defense Grid, formerly the Japanese Underwater Defense Line. The government has stated that it has several major concerns, the foremost include reconstruction, military restructuring, and Diplomatic establishment. The Federation's first President, the former head of JDOC Rear Admiral Kari Saski. Saski and the Pacific Assembly (the legislative body of the Federation) announced the following today as the first diplomatic actions the nation will be taking:

1). The Pacific Federation hereby states that it revokes its membership or any request for membership into the international organization known as the Council of Sovereign Nations, better known as the CSN. As such the Federation does not recognize any of the rulings made by the CSN, however, should the Federation deem a ruling as beneficial to the Federation the Pacific Assembly will draft up a bill on the national level. This choice has been made based on the ineffectiveness of the CSN on multiple occasions and how the organization gave little to no direct support to JDOC during the Japanese Civil War nor did the CSN or any of its member states condemn the actions taken by the Empire during the war. Further, recent events prove just how ineffective the CSN is at enforcing its rulings, making it appear as a weak and flawed organization.

2.) The Pacific Federation hereby states for the public knowledge that the Federation of Socialist Nations supplied the 2nd Empire of Japan with oil, munitions, and equipment during the Japanese Civil War. We have this information via direct communication between FSR officials and Imperial officers thanks to Admiral Showa's intelligence team. In response to the FSR aiding a nation who extensively violated human rights and committed war crimes, the Federation condemns the actions of the FSR and has declared an Embargo on all goods to and from the FSR. FSR vessels, both military and civilian, do not have Freedom of Navigation within the Federation's EEZ nor do any vessel that are bound for the FSR to conduct trade.

3.) The Pacific Federation will be suspending all trade with the Bolivarian Republic and placing an embargo on the nation's goods until the Freedom of the Press is allowed in the ABC Islands. The islands should be able to have access to all press of every nation and not be restricted to a single station, it violates the very idea of a free press. Until this situation is rectified no trade will be conducted between the Federation and the Republic

Reconstruction Begins

While most of the Federation remained outside of the fighting, Hokkaido, Okinawa, New Tokyo, and The Abyss were heavily damaged by the war. As such, a reconstruction program has been set up in these areas to both fund repairs and improve the facilities and housing for civilians. New Tokyo is set to open later this week as repair work has been minimal, but the Federation is planning on expanding the underwater colony from 1,000 residents to 3,000 to increase interest in the REZ and boost economic production. The Abyss is also seeing extensive repairs after the facility's scuttling, but a number of new submarine construction and repair facilities are being built on Hokkaido to stimulate the local economies and increase the amount of available dry docks for the heavily damaged Federation Fleet. Housing on Okinawa and Hokkaido has been given a large pool or resources and manpower by the government to help those who lost their homes during the fighting. A portion of JDOC's command center is being converted into a large hydroponics farm to supply the nation with much needed food and several off shore algae farms are under construction.

Military In Disarray

The war may have had minimal effects on the nation's land, but the military is in shambles. Half of the fleet was heavily damaged during the war with some ships unable to even leave port under their own power. With the Abyss still being repaired and most shipyards unaccustomed to large submarines, most of the Federation fleet is being kept from sinking by beaching having ships on the surface at all times. The surface navy is down to a handful of ships with the carrier Kagoshima being the only notable survivor. Most of the subfighter fleet has remained intact. The army is a shadow of its former self with less then 100,000 men and half of its equipment inoperable. The air force is the only branch that remains surprisingly intact with 80% of its fighting strength still intact. Due to this the government is looking for ways to drastically improve the military's situation before things get even worse.

Central Elections Coming Up
October 21st, 2020
It's 2020, which means it's elections time! This year's election appears to be more polarizing than ever before in Pacifican history, as the traditional Federalist dominance in government begins to dwindle. The midterm elections in 2018 already saw the Federalists, both old and new, loose seats to new parties, but still managing to retain a slight majority. The Federalists now though do not just face loosing Congress, but also the executive, since the President's time has finally come. President Jack Jackson was elected in 2008 and has served two six-year terms in office. Jackson was 'elected' as President of the Federal Republic, and was instrumental in abolishing the "old order." Having acted as the perfect little Federalist puppet for most of his career, his betrayal came as a massive surprise. To summarize his twelve years in office; he abolished the Federal Republic and with it the Old Federalists as anything relevant; reorganized the nation into the United Republics (an actual federation); took the power away from Cascadia, which was the old federalist heartland, and moved the capital to New Sacramento; reorganized economic and social policies, causing an economic boom; single-handedly thawed relations with Canada, despite resentment from a then anti-Canadian congress, turning once apathetic relations into a close alliance; and finally oversaw the unification of the entire continent. Now, with his time up, the future of his party looks bleak. The New Federalists, despite platforming as moderates, were still hell-bent at keeping Pacifica politically depressed, and the people are fed up with it. Poll after poll shows that new parties are gaining more and more support, most prominently are the New Progressives, which consider themselves heir to the Bull Moose Party of 1912, they are currently leading in the polls. Pacificans are tired of the constant reminders of the past and so is Jackson, whom had even stated that he isn't voting for his own party. Many within the nation think that the only way to truly move on towards a prosperous future, is to ditch the very thing keeping us stuck in the past, the Federalists, and we are inclined to agree.
The current candidates for the presidency are:
Herbert Alexander, New Progressives (Centre-left to left)
Bush Sanders, New Democrats (Centre to Centre-right)
John Adamsmith, New Federalists (Centre)
Washington Cortes, Green Party (Left)
Donald J. Hoover, Future Party (Centre-right to right wing)
Yashua McJones III, National Democratic Socialist League Front (???)

Herbert Alexander is currently in the lead, currently projected to be the first choice for 45% of the votes, and second choice for 25% and third for the rest.

Election Results Are In!
December 3rd, 2020

The 2020 Elections, which was arguably the most significant in Pacifican history, have concluded with not-so surprising results. Herbert Alexander won the presidency, garnering in total around 78% of the vote. President-elect Alexander promises to distance himself from the nations Federalist past and promises to "bring the nation into the future with a bright and more optimistic identity" and to "end the state-condoned nihilism that has plagued the Pacifican identity." Alexander in general represents a new face of the Pacifican identity, one that is letting go of the past and moving forward, as a new generation reaches voting age. "Post-Americans" or "Posters" as they are called were born around 2001 - 2003, after both the American-Soviet War and the Great American War of the 1990s, and are among the first native-born Pacificans. They have been statistically shown to have a much more optimistic attitude towards politics and the world as a whole. This deviates from the typical pessimistic and sometimes nihilistic attitude that is statistically prevalent in the Formers (those born in the old United States, derived from "Former-American") Voter turnout this election was the highest in current Pacifican history, with around 90% of the voting population participating. 87% of "Posters" participated, the highest of any voting demographic, and their influence on this election can be very much seen in the new make-up of Congress, specifically the House.
Starting with the lower chamber, the House of Delegates.
The New Progressive party won 55% of the seats, securing a clear majority
The New Federalist party won 18% of the seats
The New Democrats won 11% of the seats
The Pacific Hyper Democratic party won 9% of the seats
Independents won 4% of the seats
and the remaining 3% went to other minor parties.

Keeping in tradition with Pacifican political pluralism, the respective party's are eager to cooperate with each other in legislation and hope to compromise on issues if they arise.

Political parties are banned in the Senate, as are most other interest groups, and Senators are reluctant to publicly state their partisan sympathies.

This election saw the Federalists overthrown as the dominant party in the United Republics, with the old Federalists becoming defunct and the New Federalists ousted. Indeed, the New Federalists only have support from districts in the deep North, the frontier guard as they are called. Regardless of the results though, most Pacificans are satisfied with the elections, even if their party did not win as they wanted them to. Canadians on the other hand, have reacted to the results with the typical potato-peeler and "aborted fetus" mailings and memesty posts/behaviors all throughout the Pacifican-side of the internet, most of them involving memes of the infamous Canadian Penal Battalions coming down the border to "make Pacifica Hyper Democratic, as all things should be." Pacificans have organized their own memesty raids on popular Canadian websites, sparking a massive conflict on the Internet.
Outside of the joking nature of Pacific-Canadian relations, Pacificans are in general optimistic about the new multi-party system and are relieved to see the Federalists gone, but not extinct. Indeed it is not as though the Federalists are hated, it's just that Pacifican society needs to try something new and fresh.

War on slavery continues in Mauritania

Aircraft launching from a base near Reggane and from the Franco-British naval force have begun to deliver aid to the rebels at Bir Moghrein. A detachment of Algerian special forces will arm and train the slave rebellion in military tactics and use of equipment such as handheld SAMs, anti-personnel weapons, and how to identify and disarm landmines. At the same time, they will offer leadership and cooperation in the efforts to push into other areas where slaves are still held, and political advisers will help the former slaves develop a manifesto to explain the group's goals and vision for the future of their country. Key objectives include the elimination of slavery in Mauritania, in addition to a guarantee of equal civil and political rights to freed slaves and calls for the establishment of emergency housing to support former slaves after emancipation. It is clearly stated however that the position of islam would not change, with political reform enabling democratic participation in combination with a council of legal and religious advisers. Once the manifesto is agreed by the slaves and French Confederation, aircraft will begin to air drop it to areas with large populations of slaves and begin a campaign to spread the manifesto online along with interviews from the freed slaves explaining their desire for freedom and support for a democratic and corruption-free islamic republic. Finally, humanitarian aid including food, water, and medicine is distributed to those in Bir Moghrein and the surrounding areas who may have been injured in the uprising or are in need of assistance. Meanwhile, the Algerian army has crossed the border and begun a series of helicopter raids against northern and eastern bastions of slavery identified by satellite and local intelligence. In addition to providing emancipation and inviting the former Mauritanian slaves to join their cause, captured slave owners who attempt to resist Operation Emancipation or have treated slaves especially inhumanely are transferred to new processing sites while plans are made for the construction of a detention center near the town of Chegga, which is being advanced upon by 800 Algerian troops.

Bassikounou/southern front

Following the capturing of Bassikounou, the Confederation force of 12,000 was divided into smaller detachments of around battalion size and are dispersed across the region to quell any similar attempted revolutions in Mauritania. This was expected to take place with minimal interference from the withdrawn Mauritanian government and would enable the Confederation military to simply replace those at the local government level who oppose the abolition of slavery overnight. In each town or village visited, the battalions would free those enslaved and march the most horrific abusive owners through the streets as a sign that their era was over - and proclaimed that those whose servitude was sourced from debt bondage would have their debts either settled by the Confederation or the debt annulled. Just as was the case in the north, aid and information would be distributed. As for the socialist held areas around Timbedra, a drone is flown over the area before suddenly all electronic devices were rendered inoperable. The Confederation forces would then advance with armored units and urban/counter-insurgency elite troops to demand the socialists lay down their arms and peacefully hand power to the new northern faction's provisional administration. If this were refused, Timbedra and its surroundings would be stormed.

PSAN continues counter-insurgency

While infrastructure projects continue to receive aid and support from the French-led coalition and their partners, great progress is being made as the Confederation garrison works to wipe out ICN fighters in the north and east. However, Confederation intelligence forces estimate that thousands of ICN holdouts and others keen to take up the defunct organisation's banner are being driven west towards the border with the NSR. More worrying, some cells of ICN forces have held onto a mix of Orostani and Zackaroth-sourced weapons from the first civil war, in addition to any abandoned by the CSN forces who withdrew.

Candidates prepare for Cape Thetis Governor Elections

Today the major candidates for the upcoming Cape Thetis Governor Elections, in which the Governor of The Cape Thetis Devolved Government will be elected for the next 5 years, have begun campaigning for their governorship. Current Governor Luigi Binelli Mantelli will be campaigning for his re-election and campaigning on his remarkable achievements in developing the overseas territory over the past 4 years and the population boom taking place. Due to the nature of Cape Thetis as a land of immigrants mainly from Europe and Magella, the upcoming Governor election is set to be the most diverse in Italian history with half of the 6 major candidates originally from outside of Italy.

The election will be held in two rounds. In the first round all candidates will be voted for by the general public, the two candidates with the highest proportion of votes will then enter the second round. In the second round the general public will vote again but with only the options of the two top candidates. The candidate with the highest proportion of votes will then be appointed governor of The Devolved Government of Cape Thetis by the President, Giuseppe Conte, in an appointment ceremony.

Massacre at Bassikounou

Live from the scene in Bassikounou, reporter Obafemli Akintola for TeleSur Kenya is there to tell us what happened. Obafemli, can you explain what the cloud of smoke is trailing behind you?

These are the scenes of devastation. If you head towards the pillars of smoke in the air you’ll find out why the people in Bassikounou are so afraid. Local slaves from this city were involved in one of the largest slave revolts in the nation, overthrowing local authorities and replacing them with an interim people’s government. The normal person would expect that they’d find natural allies in France, who have been active in trying to eradicate slavery throughout Northern Africa. Or at least, that’s what they’ve said they’re aiming for. The French military saw that the newly liberated slaves were waving the flags of the FSR and Puertollano, so today, a barrage of air strikes and French armed forces stormed the city. The end result, massive casualties.

This doesn’t make any sense. The French are in support of rebelling slaves, aren’t they?

Obviously not. These people were free-thinking liberators, who were interested in liberating other slaves across the nation. They would have been a powerful force that the corrupt Islamic government couldn’t have kept up with. This example is only evident that eradicating slavery in Africa is not the goal of the French Empire, but overthrowing regimes against the interests of the West and squashing any people’s revolution.

Show us around a bit, what damage has been done?

Yes, of course. (Obafemli walks down the poorly paven road for a few seconds before reaching an intersection, off the corner of the intersection was a flaming crater, with social workers moving the residents away.) This is the path of destruction the French Armed Forces left here, destroying infrastructure, killing innocents. It’s a sad story to know only hours ago, these people were their own people - freed from their chains of slavery. However, these people have been left destitute, now the pawns in a much bigger game.

And what is this larger game?

Well, it’s quite well known that we are in what the French call ‘Francophone Africa’, but for the residents here in Bassikounou, we know what this really means. It is a mindset left over from the old colonialist era, but if you are a frequent viewer of TeleSur you’d know that that era never ceased to exist. They believe much of Northern Africa is theirs, and that they have some holy right to be their oppressor, occupier and law bringer. As we’ve seen across Africa however, with the Red Wave of liberations, the people of Africa do not want to be colonies to Europe. They do not want to be ‘dominion’ minions of French geopolitic.

Now, recent footage has emerged from occupied Bassikounou that is disturbing. We’ll play it first then I want your opinion on the video.

[A viral video then plays of the French Troops after storming Bassikounou, proceeding to detain and arrest fighters against the armed forces. The camera zooms up to the hand cuffs and chains around the wrists of the fighters, making it clear that they are being bound against their will. Text appears over the top of the video stating, “The French want the African people to still be chattel, as does the torturous Government. They are imperialist, slave-holding buddies.”]

Indeed, this video has been making the rounds. The people of Bassikounou are being treated like slaves, returning to the status quo under the Islamist Government. It honestly begs the question, does the French Empire care about the people here? They’ve actively fought against slave revolts and then proceed to lock those slaves back up. The real agenda of France is unknown. May the people find victory in themselves to provide a safe nation for their children, without European meddling and slavery.

New Tokyo Re-Opens, Surprise Announcement

Today, New Tokyo was officially re-opened to the public and trade resumed at the underwater facility with the first underwater tanker docking mere moments after the re-opening of the station. The military forces in the colony have been reduced to only 50 individuals with a larger emphasis on a police force to maintain order. The ceremony was greeted with praise from the colony's inhabitants and was met with a positive view from those watching the ceremony from across the nation. However, while the re-opening of the complex marks the beginning of major progress in the reconstruction period, it was completely overshadowed by another event. President Saski made a surprise appearance as well as several members of the Pacific Assembly and representatives of the North American Federation. This surprise appearance caught everyone completely off guard. This is the recording of that event taken only moments ago:

Citizens of the Pacific Federation, I am addressing you for the first time as your president. I have been given this position by you, the people, and I thank you for this opportunity to serve you once more. However, while I can serve you I can no longer guarantee your protection, nor our continued economic prosperity. The Japanese Civil war shattered our nation, slaughter our people, and spread fires across the Pacific. We lost many friend and family members to this terrible war and while we will never forget them we will forever feel their lost presence in our lives. For the last few months we have struggled to re-establish ourselves in both a military, economic, and cultural sense. I thank each and every one of you for making the Pacific Federation not only possible but a dream that unites our people. We are a young nation, but one with a varied and rich culture that has established itself as the heart of our nation. Unfortunately, while this unity has been an icon, it has not been enough. Our military still lies damaged and broken and our economy has lain in shambles since the end of the war. Until now.

As many of you are aware, during the time period where the Coalition was governing our nation we established the country as a protectorate under the North American Federation. This associate between our two nations allowed for the Federation to be formed in the first place, creating economic stability and ensuring the continued safety of our citizens. It is thanks to the NAF and its citizens that the Federation is able to exist at all, and we owe them a debt of gratitude for that. However, with my administration now running our international affairs many have begun to wonder what would become of our protectorate status. Several called to keep the protectorate status to ensure our safety until the nation was back on its feet while others called for a end to the status as a whole. The truth is that without the NAF currently the Federation cannot be secured both militarily or economically, however, the continuation of the protectorate would isolate us from international affair and reduce our diplomatic power, something many citizens would not stand for. After consulting with members of the Assembly and representatives of the NAF we have come tot he following agreement.

As of today, March 14th, 2021, The Federation of Pacific States has voted 64 to 17 to join the North American Federation as a full member state of the Political Union. This decision was made after weeks of talks and outlining the fact that the Federation will be an equal to all the other member within the NAF. The NAF has transferred the administration of the majority of its Pacific Territory to the Federation excluding Hawaii, Midway Island, and Johnston Atoll as a part of the Federation's Sphere of Influence. The Federation will be expanding government subsides seafloor development programs such as underwater mining, algae farms, and underwater turbines to improve our economic state and decrease dependence on oil and food imports. On land the has been an increase in funding for the reconstruction effort on Hokkaido and Okinawa to push ahead the timetable for the reconstruction program. NAF military forces will be allowed into all Federation territory for both military and aid missions.

While I am sure many of you have mixed feelings about this decision, the impact is has cannot be understated. The NAF and the Federation will now be working side by side to ensure the stability of the Pacific Region on a scale not seen since the end of the 2nd World War. The government has many future plans to improve living conditions, available technologies, and scientific progress within the Federation and the NAF but for now those talks are still on the drawing board. For now all I can say is that the Pacific Federation and the North American Federation will now be walking side by side into a new future for the Pacific.

Cabinet Backs French Anti-Slavery Operation and Commits More Troops, Material

LONDON - The Imperial Cabinet approved two weeks ago a plan of action to assist the French Republic and Confederation in its campaign to clamp down on the peculiar institution that persists in several corners of the globe, starting with French anti-slavery options in Mauritania. Imperial PM Vivian Chelsea OBE and MP for Berkshire, UK, personally brought the details of the program to the Imperial Parliament, ending Question Period by stating that "...it was us who first ended the peculiar trade and the peculiar institution, and it is time for us to do our bit for a safer and more humane world."

Both sides of the House approved the plan almost unanimously at voting time, with the two MPs of the anti-monarchist and anti-IF party UKIP abstaining. The plan calls for the RN's North Atlantic forces to be deployed to aid, advise, and assist French naval forces in Mauritania's coastal areas, patrolling for any slaver and human trafficking vessels. Royal Marines shall also assist in ground operations with their French counterparts. The government cannot comment further on any deployments current or forthcoming.

Those accused of owning slaves shall be detained and will be investigated for indictment by the appropriate international authorities for crimes against humanity. The Imperial Parliament is considering bolstering funding to domestic courts to investigate any Federation subject suspected of dealing with the peculiar institution.

IF Supports Germany in ABC Islands Dispute

LONDON - Whitehall submitted notes and letters to Wilhelmstrasse outlining its support to the German government in its dispute with the Bolivarian republic over control of the ABC Islands. The islands are just off the coast of the socialist state that has deployed troops to the islands.

HM Federation Government has stated that it supports "...the right of self-determination of the peoples of the islands, and that any attempt to cause duress or sway voters to vote overwhelmingly to one side of the issue of the other, or corrupt the referendum process, is unethical and illegal in the eyes of the world." HM Government is offering diplomatic support to islanders via its consulate and support to expatriates currently living in the IF realm of the United Kingdom. The government is also calling for investigations into allegations of petty and serious crimes committed by the Bolivarian republic's forces deployed on the islands, with reports of serious crimes against property and person, including cruel and unusual punishment and reprisals for peaceful protests.

London, Cairo, and Delhi are all divided on this issue, but all do support a free and fair referendum for the destiny of the island's inhabitants.
An alt-America that had a grand bargain struck with London in the 1760s and remained under the British Crown (Turtledove's "The Two Georges"), mixed with some of Sobel's "For Want of a Nail" and a lot of the anthology "Columbia and Britannia," the sci-fi NZ novel "Anno Domini 2000 or Woman's Destiny", and cameos of other alternate histories. “The Rock of the Britannic Commonwealth,” an alliance of Britannic and former colonies as partner-nations in personal union and/or in association.

Zackaroth brokers deal between Puterollano and France amid rising tensions

Today, High Leader Akram, President Castillo and the French Prime Minister all convened on the island of La Désirade. The island has been plagued by protests and demonstrations, calling for reintegration back into the Frencg fold after it was sold to Italy but then taken over by Puertollano forces during a brief skirmish that also involved the ABC Islands. Worsening the situation was the sudden immigration of thousands of Puertollano citizens that made the island unsustainable.

However after weeks of negotiations, High Leader Akram stepped in himself and used the positive relationship with both countries to make a treaty to return control of the island to France while also placating Puertollano. In return for the island, France agreed not to to resell the island to Germany or Italy and the Puterollano citizens who moved in would be allowed to move to the Zackarothian African Commonwealth, able to obtain work visas and become duel citizens. The full details of the treaty have not been disclosed but it has been said all three sides are happy with the results. Control will be returned shortly, with French management expected to resume their duties in a few weeks.

ABC Islands vote for Independence!

At long last the ABC Islands have voted and the people of the island have voted for independence from Germany. The islands where seized by Puertollano during a skirmish with Germany and Italy months ago. Tensions have risen greatly over those months and will no doubt continue to rise after this annoucments. Most of the island has voted for independence with a majority vote being for it. Only a slight number voted for remaining with Germany. The reasons for this will be highly debated but many will claim it was because of the constant presence of Telesur, the news channel operated from within Puertollano itself. Germany and other countries slammed this as mindless propaganda as they where not allowed to broadcast their own channels until the final days of the election.

For now it remains to be seen how both countries react to this news.

The Federation Looks to Space

After months of inactivity from the space program and repairing the nation's only functioning spaceport on Okinawa, the Federation is ready to set its sights on the final frontier. Early yesterday, the first rocket launched off from the Okinawa Spaceport' Launchpad #1 at 0922 followed by a second rocket at Launchpad #3 at 1021 heading toward the orbital station Heaven-1 and IPV Soru. These crews relieved the crews who had been stuck in the station on the ship for over 8 months during the Japanese Civil War. Fortunately, the Heaven-1 has a prototype hydroponics laboratory which the three man crew used to grow their own food which managed to sustain them when they ran out of food. The Soru managed to fire its engines up and dock with the station to feed its crew of three as well. The survival of the two crews was at stake as the rockets launched yesterday, but thankfully both rockets successfully docked with the ship and station.

While this oversight by the former JSA is inexcusable and could have resulted in disaster, instead a plethora of research and statistics is now available from the two crews. The Heaven-1 offered a valuable insight into growing food in space as well as the viability of inflated habitats for long term habitation in space. Further, The station's artificial gravity was used extensively and its use was refined by using different rotation axis and rotational speed. The station's orbital observatory and life support systems were improved by the crew as they had no means of getting to the surface giving the Federation's Space Program valuable insights into future designs and stellar phenomena. Meanwhile, the Soru offered a massive amount of data on the feasibility and operation of a large scale vessel in space. The crew recorded engine output, fuel consumption, vessel acceleration, and hull tension along with over a dozen other variables. Long term habitation on the vessel was also proved possible by this event, especially with the ship not having the proper amount of rations. Thanks to these evens a massive amount of data is now available to scientist and engineers on how to improve the current designs and implement new protocols for space travel and habitation.

Image

With the entirety of the former JSA's assets now integrated into the newly commissioned Pacific Federation Space Agency (PFSA) and the Pacific Federation Orbital Navy (PFON) the final frontier is being placed at the top of the nation's priorities with 100 Billion being put towards the two space departments. The PFSA is focusing on expanding R&D, building additional spaceports, and increasing the manufacturing of space equipment. Additional training for new astronauts is also being given as the number of astronauts is expected to grow from jut over 30 to 500 by the end of 2022. The PFON meanwhile is looking to expand the naval and orbital assets it has in preparation for the NAF as a whole: the deployment of a Lunar Mining system. The lunar base project has completed it's testing phase and will begin by establishing a small mining outpost operated by drones and rovers on the surface of the moon. The drones mine and then store the mined material into a depot on the surface. This small mining base will have designated landing area so that manned landing craft can land and pick up the stockpiled material. These drones will also be used as construction tools, as per their programming, to construct the base with materials either found on the lunar surface or sent by the PFON. This program has made the PFON expand its planned 3 ships merchant fleet to 15 and establish a patrol fleet o ensure the safe transport of material and standby for rescue operations should issues arise.

Currently, both PFSA and PFON are understaffed and lack proper resources to accomplish their mission, but hopefully with an increase of funding, media attention, and government support the program can meet is far reaching goals.

ICN attacks worsen on NSR and TACT border

More attacks are being reported from the NSR border. The ICN seems to have been emboldened and have launched several more raids into the NSR terrority. In Lagos it has been reported an IC gunmen shot and killed 6 people inside a cafe before killing himself. On the TACT side, the ICN has engaged in hit and run attacks against Australian and Nigerian caravans Worse yet, in both regions, reports are coming in of attempted mass shooting, stabbings and attacks at Christians houses of worship. The CSN fears this may reignite the religious tensions in these areas after months of relative calm and healing. Its still unknown how the ICN has managed to to resurface after a devastating defeat or why they spefically attacking the NSR and TACT borders and people. It is unknown if these are even the same cells. The CSN is advising all nations not to treat the ICN as one standard organization anymore. Investigations believe they may have broken into factions with the same name, each believing it is the true ICN.

Attempted attacks in Niger as crops are assaulted by unnatural amount of Medflies

Niger does not seem to be immune to this resurgence of ICN either. Despite French lockdown of the border and control of northern Nigeria, it seems some have slipped through the cracks. They have either radicalized within Niger or slipped through during the massive influx of refugees during the war. Two attempted attacks have been reported to take place. One attack is was an attempted truck bombing of the Trans-Saharan gas pipeline while another truck bombing was attempted at the Kandadji Dam. The outcomes of these are still unknown as information is still arriving.

Occuring with all of this, a medfly break out has occurred in southern Niger. Thousands upon thousands of medflies have descended upon the crops of many of the Niger farms. While Niger is no stranger to Medfly outbreaks, this size and at this time of year is unusual. It seems to almost have been deliberately placed, with some CSN observers comparing it to the Zackarothian bio attacks on South America. The medfly outbreak, combined with the drought that the south eastern part of Niger is feeling thanks to the dam break in Nigeria during the war, is slowly creating a famine that threatens to derail the country's progress over the past few years.

The Latinokratia in Danger?

On April 5th 2021, a new law was declared. Unlike most laws though, it sparkled such controversy, that the entire Fregantese political structure is in chaos. Not in alarm or anything, but in chaos.

The said law envisioned a change: The country’s name. “For so long...”, as Chancellor Fleuchaim spoke in the Senate, “Our State was named not after its culture, geography or any other inclusive and societal aspect but by a man. A man of great importance for sure, but nonetheless a man. That must change. I now declare the name of our state ‘The Latinokractic Union’. Ladies and gentlemen, our ideological and political dependence on a corpse, is finally over.”

As the speech ended, the Senate erupted into chaos, because as the Chancellor said, the law was declared, by the Chancellor, without a vote taking place in the Senate. The senators have been reported to have shouted “Illegal!”. The other abnormality, was that the senatorial session didn’t include the SPP, which, upon being informed abou the law, branded it as illegal and accused the Chancellor of provoking violence in the Senate.

Meanwhile, FSDF (Fregantese Social Democratic Front) leadership evacuated its headquarters and fled to Thessaloniki. The political confusion forced the Athenians to take it to the streets, and chaotic protests started to take place. As a reaction, state of emergency was declared in Athens, and the Senate was declared to be suspended and dissolved. The problem is, there is no legal entity with the power to do such a thing in the FE. As such, the protests became more and more violent, as people showed their discontent with this open attack on democracy and law.

While the protests continued, on the dawn of April 6th, the police broke into the SPP headquarters, and arrested the party leadership. The government claimed that the police department acted on its own, while the department itself remained silent.

At 14:35, the police forces entered the city centre, armed, and called on the protestors to go home. The protesters refused, and the police opened fire. Although non-lethal plastic bullets were being used, the crowd still erupted into a frenzy, some trying to attack the police while the others tried to escape. At 18:26, the city was finally quiet.

The Ministry of the Interior held a press conference two hours later, congratulating the police department for their efforts to “preserve civic peace”. When asked about the Senate’s dissolution, however, he remained silent, and answered other minor questions.

This choice, described as “scandalous” by the political experts, was the last straw.

Preveza

The Special Administration of Preveza, and by extension, the Mirai Organisation, stated on April 7th that the actions of the government were unacceptable, and that they could no longer tolerate such incompetence and arrogance.

Mostly unknown before, the Mirai Organisation revealed itself to be the intelligence agency and the confidential research institution of the Fregantese State. The Organisation was directly linked to the freezing abnormality that happened more than a year ago, and had access to all state secrets. The organisation, was founded by the deceased Emperor, and had been semi-independent from the government in Athens ever since. But now, it rose in open defiance.

The organisation, although not possessing an army, ordered the mobilisation of its paramilitary elements, and threatened Athens with insurrection if the government didn’t resign immediately.

Thessaloniki

Thessaloniki was always influential in the state politics in its own way. The northern regions, especially Khalkhidiki and Eastern Thrace, have been economically orbiting the city, and remained politically close. Thessaloniki is the second biggest port, a cosmopolitan city, with direct connection to Turkey and the Balkans. As such, the city already have had a political identity of its own.

The regional administration have been closely monitoring the events in Athens and it has been a horrible experience. Such a brutish attack on democracy and on the very core institution of the Empire was beyond shocking. The administration welcomed the FSDF leadership with open arms, and started to deliberate about a course action. Meanwhile, mass protests against the Athenian government rocked the streets of Thessaloniki, and the protesters demanded action.

After a meeting with the FSDF leaders and the head of the Confederation Fregantese Syndicates, the administration reached a decision.

The Thessaloniki administration issued an official ultimatum to the Athenian government, that if it won’t resign, then Thessaloniki would start an uprising as well. The administration also made it clear that they were against a Mirai takeover, since they weren’t thrustworty either, even some members of the administration calling them “maniacs”.

Thessaloniki also appealed to the international and Europeans communities, imploring them to take decisive action. “If Athens prevails, then the Fregantese democracy, one of the most stable democracies on the continent, will die in the hands of shame, opportunism, and pure greed.” said the City Mayor, Jacques-Andrei Marrilos.

Thessaloniki is confident, since in the past its inhabitants and workers forced the Athenian government to accept its terms.
The Army and the Navy

Upon the threat of a civil war, the Naval High Command assured its allegiance to the Athenian government, arguing that the Navy wouldn’t be associated with civilian politics and would only serve the legitimate government. The First Fleet based in the Ionian Islands and the Second Fleet based in Thessaly were ordered to move towards Athens, so that there wouldn’t be the risk of the fleets getting captured by potential rebels.

The Military High Command, though, didn’t reached an immediate decision. Most of the High Command was of Thessaloniki origin, and served during the Danubian Crisis. They tended to trust and embrace the decision of the city’s administration, but didn’t feel comfortable defying the government. They could be labelled as a traitor, after all.

More than that, if the military was to be involved, the potential increase in tensions, and the risk of too much bloodshed, would devastate everything. So the Army decided to stay neutral.

In the end, it seems Athens restored control to itself, but lost its power over the country.

18th April 2021

First budget of the coalition government released- increases in all areas

Today the 2021-2022 budget was released, the first budget of the new coalition government made up of the conservative party Forza Italia and the moderate party Partito Democratico. The 2021-2022 budget has been the first budget since the mid-2000's to see increases in spending across all sectors of the budget. This is mainly due to the hugely costly Ministry of Health, which was the 3rd highest consumer of the budget, being dissolved and replaced by the URT Federal Health Authority which will be funded by a separate tax paid to the government of the URT by Italian, Austro-Danubian and Fregantese citizens. This has alleviated 12% of the budget which has been spread among many areas of the budget to ensure that both Forza Italia and Partito Democratico keep their election promises which included increased spending in defence, social welfare and healthcare (healthcare spending per capita has increased for Italian under the RSO). As well as this strong GDP growth means that the 21% of GDP that is usually set aside for the budget is almost 85 billion higher than in 2019.

Due to the excess of funds brought about by the dissolution of the Ministry of Health, the government has created a new sector of spending dubbed the 'DEU Donation' which is currently set at 1% of the budget, around 8.595 billion.

The 2021-2022 budget in numbers:

Department of Education: 171.83 billion
Ministry of Defence: 171.83 billion
Ministry of Justice: 111.695 billion
Interest on Debt: 94.5 billion
Department of Infrastructure: 85.91 billion
Government: 75.6 billion
Social Welfare Agency: 60.145 billion
Local Authorities: 27.498 billion
DEU Donation: 8.595 billion
Other: 51.54 billion

FSR 2021-2022 Budget

International Affairs: 100 billion
Administration: 110 billion
Interest on Debt: 133 billion
Defense: 242 billion
Science: 330 billion
Education: 502 billion
Welfare: 510 billion
Health: 522 billion
Economic Financing: 3.9 trillion

Economic Statistics

GDP: $6,803,429,670,000
Population: 279,257,300
GDP Per Capita: $24,362.58

FSR Outlook 2021-2022

Today the Federation government passed the 2021-2022 budget which saw huge increases in government spending. This is mostly due to the current nationalization policy of the Communist-led government. GDP growth has increased by 4%, failing to meet the 5% target. Most of the growth continues to come from the Orostani SFR, which is still recovering from the Orostani-Zackarothian Missile Exchange. In the past year trade relations with Magella were heavily strained. With Magella being one of the most important trade partners of the FSR, the disputes threatened to have serious ramifications, though by now trade relations have started to return to normality. The former drop of trade between the FSR and Magella led to increased trade with Britain and China, which helped offset damages and diversify the economy.

The labor shortage which the FSR is currently facing has forced economic planners to invest in more capital-intensive industries, with some heavy industry plants having been closed down in the past. A key focus for the FSR has been to develop its own technological industry, particularly with semiconductors. The FSR currently produces 17% of its own semiconductors. Semiconductor industries require large amounts of technical expertise and capital investment, and while Orostan had the capability for the latter for decades, the FSR lagged behind in the former category. The FSR is starting to catch up, however. Increases in the budget for research and development means that the FSR is now starting to make further inroads in establishing its own presence in the scientific realm, while collaboration with foreign entities have greatly helped FSR engineers improve their knowledge and capabilities.

In order to help resolve labor shortages, the FSR has increasingly adopted pro-natalist and pro-immigration policies. In addition to the childless tax which has been implemented in the past, this year's plan extends parental leave. Child care has also begun to be subsidized, including the cost of housing and vacations for families. Barriers to immigration have also been repeatedly slashed. Interestingly enough, the FSR has also extended its policies on refugees. South America was rarely affected by any significant influxes of refugees. This changed as the FSR has adopted an 'open-door' policy on refugees, as dubbed by international observers. Most of the refugees have come from African countries, which is viewed as a potential security risk. However, the FSR has moved on regardless, with a policy of helping refugee integrate into the country.

The 2021 budget also saw the creation of the International Phalanstère, an organization dedicated to helping develop emerging socialist countries and encouraging trade between the socialist bloc. The Phalanstère has been allotted a yearly budget of a hundred billion $NAD. Currently, the Nigerian Socialist Republic is the only state receiving aid from the Phalanstère, though talks have started about including the Federation of Native Islands and the Socialist Federal Republic of Galicia.

Last but not least, talks of government reform have finally started to gain some ground after months of gridlock. The Andean and Orostani Assemblies finally agreed on creating a position called the Premier of the Federation. The terms have not been fully worked out, but the first Premier will likely be chosen in 2024, in line with the presidential elections.

2021 Budget Passed

Today the Pacific Assembly passed the 2021-2022 Government Budget which is the first hard set level of funding set by the Federation. Defense, Industry, and Infrastructure each received around 45 Billion to repair damages from the civil war and establish a new economic base for the nation. The Navy is relived by this as it finally eases the pressure on the service to repair vessels. Education, Social Services, and Administration each received around 30 Billion. Research efforts have been bolstered in both the civilian and defense sectors by a 77 Billion Dollar budget. Lastly, Space Exploration has the largest part of the budget with 101 Billion being diverted for the upcoming construction of an additional ships, launchpad construction, rocket production facilities, and a new astronaut training center. While many criticized a large portion of the budget being diverted to Space Exploration and Research the government pointed out that over half the budget has gone to reconstruction across the various sectors. The government hopes that the funding that is being diverted towards the space program will result in large scale gains once the Lunar Mining Program begins next year. Until then, the nation's economy will be focused on underwater development, submarine construction, maritime services.

REZ Enters Full Operation Once More

The Ryukyu Economic Zone, better known as the REZ, was one of the regions that was ceded to the Federation following the end of the Japanese Civil War. The region took significant damage during the war and has been operating at limited capacity due to a lack of submarine transports and repair teams. The region was given top priority by the new government due to its economic significance and was given aid a week after the formation of the Federation. With dozens of submarines and divers in the region now the REZ is operating at 89% capacity and has once again resumed full-scale mining operations, bringing a much needed boost to the Federation Economy. The REZ is expected to enter 99% capacity by the end of the month and end the reconstruction of the area. Okinawa and the Abyss will still be under extensive repairs for the next few months however and will likely have an impact on the traffic through the region.

Formation of ATI

With ASD International and many other companies like Pentaocean either displaced or on the verge of collapse, the largest corporate merger in the Pacific has taken place to form a new corporate giant, Advanced Technologies International. ATI is a corporate merge of ASD, Mitsubishi's Pacific Branch, Japan Maritime United, Pentaocean Pacific, Enel, and CLNK to create a single entity out of the shattered economic groups in the Federation. These groups all require a large scale manufacturing base to function and operate, something the Federation sorely lacks at the moment. With a lack of funds and no subsidies available at the time, the companies decided to merge in order to have access to nearly every major factory and shipyard in the Federation and the joint budget of most of the major economic contributors. A few companies like Showa and Subaru are trying to get by on the new industrial subsidies and will not be a part of this new merger. ATI is expected to consolidate their stocks and focus on getting out of the red on expenses and debts from the Civil War. The company has stated the following:

Advanced Technologies International wants to assure the customers of all of the merged companies that their products and the support provided for them will still be available just under the ATI brand name. Prices may fluctuate for the next few months until the company has gained an economic foothold but all services will continue. Submarines ordered from ASD international have been taken over by ATI and are still on scheduled as well as any Pentaocean Projects. Vehicle and surface vessel construction will be slowed in order for the company to adjust spending and allocate resources. We will also address the issue of any factory closures after we have examined each factory's net production.

While this has been met with criticism and mixed reviews across the Federation, the government has little to say on the matter. If anything several Assemblymen have promised subsidies to ATI to build rocket production facilities and new submarine dry-docks. The military has reportedly also approached them in regards to logistics and military hardware orders, showing their support of the merger. The working class and middle income families have have met the news with mixed feelings. For those living on Okinawa and Hokkaido this means that their areas will be repaired quicker and jobs could see some stability in the regions while in the Central Pacific there is a high probability of layoffs and factory closures. Regardless of what the national view is on the merger, it has occurred and will likely have a major impact on economic progress within the Federation.

Castillo unveils new budget

For those still unsure about the priorities of the government of President Castillo, those need to look no further. President Nicolo Castillo announced the new budget for the Bolivarian Republic today to his cabinet, streamed live on national television. All television stations are required by law to be at attendance at the whim of the President, and to break from regular broadcasting to film whatever that is the subject. Such an order was given when Castillo pulled the veil off the chart to reveal the budget for the upcoming years under Castillo. Quite a heavy amount of government income was put into the category of Social Services and Social Programs. This is important to the governance of the President, who has enacting many sweeping social policies to aid the life of the poor, disabled and indigenous communities of the Bolivarian Republic. Locally, these programs are called 'Missions', which tackle a broad range of issues, such as increasing solar ownership, massive public housing unit construction and reading classes for adults. Second to that of the spending on the Missions and Public Services, is Health and Medical Research. This dedication of funds is to support the state-run, universal healthcare system, and to operate the remote clinics in rural and hard-to-reach areas of the dense Amazon. It is to also pay the incredibly impressive salaries that doctors receive in Puertollano, and with an exceedingly large pool of doctors in Puertollano, there are many to pay.

ATI Announces Layoffs, Closures, and Expansions

After spending a week reviewing the data from all of the former companies that merged in ATI, the company has begun to cut unnecessary expenditures and assets that have been deemed unproductive. Twelve Factories within the Federation are set to close their doors at the end of the month due to this new cut, laying off 14,400 employees in the process. 5,000 of these workers and many of the machines from these closed factories are being transferred to other local factories that the company can improve production at. These other factories are located in heavy consumer areas like Sapporo, Taipei, and Chuuk. However, for people living in Northern Hokkaido and the Central Pacific there are few employment opportunities within ATI as the company currently lacks a major presence without the closed factories in operation. Subaru and SHI have stated that they will be expanding operations to the Central Pacific in light of ATI's withdrawal and will hopefully provide employment for the laid off workers. In addition to the factories six offices were shut down and two R&D facilities to consolidate the company's holdings. However, the closure of these facilities has given ATI a more solid base in the Federation and has give the company funds to look beyond the Pacific consumer base.

ATI has announced today that it has begun making initial investments into other markets around the world and has made agreements with several nations to begin construction of facilities. These facilities will be a combination of an office and a showroom to allow for customer support, economic assets, and product sales under one roof. These facilities would not be responsible for the construction or design of products in any way and only be in charge of sales and support in their respective regions of operations. Currently, the company has expanded to the cities of Rotterdam, Rome, Turin, Santiago, San Fransisco, Seattle, Adelaide, and Burgas. These 'Outreach Centers' as the company calls them are being used to see what products sell in certain regions of the world before committing products in force and building factories. That being said, every product that ATI produces is available in a limited supply or on display only with ordering options available. This includes Industrial and Commercial Fabricators, Electric vehicles, commercial submarines, subfighters, arms and munitions, aircraft, seafloor mining and construction equipment, CLNK, translators, Med-Pads, and Pressure Injectors. Should these centers turn a profit ATI will invest in the regions they are located in. TransGen will be providing all transportation needs for ATI's outreach centers.

"Welcome home," - President Noir visits La Désirade

Conservative President Noir has arrived in La Désirade as part of the ongoing process which will see the cession of the island to the Dominion of Guadeloupe, and return to the French Confederation. In a statement issued upon his arrival, he denounced the social-liberal coalition for ceding the island to the Italians in the first place;

Who were they to give up FRENCH citizens, like they were a sack of vegetables being bartered and traded! Then they stood back and claimed the high ground even as they hid behind the strength of NAF's fleet! Under a Conservative administration, that wouldn't have happened, and it certainly won't happen ever again. Welcome home, my countrymen.

He would later declare a planned spending package aimed at revitalizing the island's ecosystem and limited infrastructure which had been stressed heavily due to arrival of 1,000 Italian migrants prior to the annexation by Puertollano, as well as further settlement under the occupation.

FDPA naval exercises, termination of Joint Pacific Security Corridor

Signatories of the Franco-Pacific Defense Agreement today held their largest joint naval exercise to date as a sign of their continuing commitment to their alliance following the end of the Orbanis Civil War. The exercises are notable in that they featured both surface and submersible fleets. In total the FDPA powers deployed 160 subfighters, 3 subcarriers, 30 surface destroyers, 5 helicopter carriers/assault ships, and an aircraft carrier south of New Caledonia.

Public perception of Australia in France and the Dominions of the French Confederation is at a record high due to cooperation in Nigeria and the Far East, and this has played a role in an announcement which coincides the exercises; that the Joint Pacific Security Corridor is being terminated. The Security Corridor had been announced as a means of deescalation following tensions between the two nations focused on the positioning of military forces on New Caledonia and Norfolk Island predating the FDPA, however the two states no longer feel threatened by each other in this respect. From now, New Caledonia and Norfolk may be militarized, and the sea and airspace corridor between the two states will be normalized. The Australian flag was raised in Nouméa to commemorate the end of the Corridor and cement the growing friendship.

Multinational summit to be held in Algiers

Heads of government from NAF, GU, the Nordic Federation, and the Imperial Federation are due to meet this week with those of the French Confederation in the Dominion of Algeria to discuss a range of topics that confront the group as a collective. Such matters include the ongoing effort to emancipate Mauritania, coordination of reconstruction and counter-insurgency in Nigeria, and also reduction of non-tariff barriers to trade. It is understood that Persia and Australia were invited, however it is not known if they shall be in attendance.

NSR Outlook 2021-2022
2021-2022 Budget

Science: 1 billion
Administration: 1.3 billion
Education: 5 billion
Welfare: 5 billion
Health: 5 billion
Defense: 14 billion
Economic Financing: 66.76 billion

Economic Statistics 2021

GDP: $108,951,119,734
Population: 43,670,522
GDP per Capita: $2,494.84

Last year the NSR started the First Five Year Plan, which has so far been an outstanding success. In the economic sector, the NSR has pursued a policy of rapid industrialization. The NSR's centrally planned economy has allowed the state planners to immediately undertake an extensive industrialization policy without having to wait for capital accumulation to naturally occur, greatly speeding up the time needed to kick-start the economy. As per with the rest of the Five Year Plan, the focus will remain on heavy industry. Mechanization of agriculture has also proved a success, with modern techniques allowing production to rise while fewer laborers are needed in the agricultural sector.

While not as drastic as with economic development, last year has also seen standards of living rise. Most prominently, the NSR's education and medical systems are amongst the most proficient in Africa. One of the highlights of the NSR's medical policy occurred just weeks ago when NSR's target for 95% vaccination rate was reached after an arduous compulsory vaccination campaign. The situation with housing and public transport have also seen improvements, though is still declared a work in progress.

The NSR's progress has been greatly aided by the FSR through the Nigerian Strategic Recovery Program, which is now named the International Phalanstère. While the NSR now gets less aid than before due to the diversion of some Phalanstère funding to Galicia and the FNI, the NSR still gets the vast majority of funds from the organization, which greatly helps the NSR in its economic development.

Fleet Sees Refits

With dozens of ships damaged from the war and with half the fleet out of commission, the Navy has been commencing a large scale refit and recovery effort of the fleet thanks the the Abyss entering operational status as of yesterday. With all but three large submarines now in drydock all of the Navy's damaged ships from the Civil War are receiving modifications and repairs, bolstering morale across the fleet. Older I-500 class ships are receiving improved sensors and computer systems while the cruiser fleet is being refitted with expanded subfighter bays increasing their capacity from 18 craft to 25, making them escort carriers. While this has lowered the amount of conventional torpedo storage and missile silos in these ships, the new modals will make up for the lack of large-scale carrier vessels in the submarine fleet as only one subcarrier, the Zuikaku, is currently operating in the fleet. The Navy plans to continue the Orbanis construction schedule but does not intend to order any additional ships and instead focus on subfighter production and development from 2025 onward with only minor improvements for the larger vessels. This has been done in light of the subfighter's effectiveness during the battle of Okinawa and the increase in foreign nations operating subfighters.

ATI Commences Massive Expansion, Establishes Branches

ATI has announced a massive expansion plan across the world in addition to the cites that were posted in PNN last week. This expansion plan is so large that ATI has formed three new branch offices to manage their assets. These offices are the North American Branch, headquartered in San Fransisco, the European branch, headquartered in Burgas, and the Asia-Pacific branch headquartered in Taipei. Each of these offices act independently from ATI but are tied by ATI and its management in terms of funding and products. Each branch will be focusing on the sales of success full products from the Outreach stores within their region and expanding ATI's presence in each region. In regions like Italy, Scandinavia, and Bulgaria electric car sales and orders are through the roof to the point where ATI Europe is in talks with the company on the possibility of opening up factories for the vehicles in Europe. Meanwhile, on the NAF's West Coast CLNK and Commercial Fabricator technology seem to be what is selling the most and in the Asia-Pacific branch AusGroup has taken a serious interest in Industrial Fabrication Technologies.

Image

ATI has facilities operating outside these branches as these region's do not have an overwhelming number of facilities that would require a new chain of management. The Magellan Republic has three outreach facilities that have been getting orders for electric vehicles and seafloor mining equipment, promoting ATI to consider creating a subsidiary group for the Republic as a whole. ATI has also express interest in expanding to the Middle East, mainland Asia, the NAF's East Coast, and the Eastern Mediterranean Sea. Currently the net worth of the company is around 124 billion USD, however, with the company opening up to new markets and its assets in the Pacific now consolidated that number is expected to rise.

Puertollano Votes 2021: President wins majority

With 98% of votes counted, the Puertollanoan Electoral Commission has announced the results of the Puertollanoan Presidential Election. As predicted in the polling, President Castillo won an outright majority of the votes (56.1%), without the need for a run-off election. The mandatory status of elections meant the result was representative of broader society, with only those with religious or otherwise excuses, allowed not to do so. Castillo's key support came from the activist indigenous communities in the rural townships and the poor barrios in the nations many major cities. Incredible social programs instituted by the President explains for the massive victory for himself and his Movement Towards Socialism Party with these demographics. These people have noticed change in their lifestyle and their children's lifestyle, and the threats from the Opposition to cut these programs saw a strong swing against the right-wing opposition. While the President won a plurality among the middle class, there was an obvious lack of enthusiasm when compared to the powerful role of the poor and indigenous. The National Conservative Round-Table Party, the major opposition entity to President Castillo, put up its' candidate Alejandro Piena, a well-known businessman in the nation. His vote fell flat, with final estimates putting him at 25% of the national vote. He performed well with the upper-middle class and the richer echelons of society, providing him with a powerful war chest for political campaigning. Although having the money, he was unable to muster enough people to vote against Castillo, or at least force him into a run-off vote. Isabella Jetil, thought to have been a serious contender, also had disappointing results. Her centre to centre-left party, New Social Party, earned 11.8% of the national vote. Her loyalists and supporters in the old government helped her gain momentum, but it the campaign struggled to get off the ground. Political analysts believe that she was responsible for splitting the anti-Castillo vote, of well-to-do middle class and upper middle class voters, who were looking to kick the President out. The other parties that presented a Presidential candidate were the Puertollanoan Communist Party, who, while supporting the Castillo in essence, wanted to take socialism to the next level. Their Presidential Candidate was advocating for a planned economy, similar to that of the FSR. The PCP received 5.1% of the national vote. The Farmer's Party, a largely rural-interested based party received 1.6% of the national vote, and the American-aligned Alliance for Democratic Values Party received 0.4% of the national vote.

TeleSur deemed guilty of treason for actions related to the ABC islands, Supreme Court orders that they sell German production shares for 25 million NAF Dollars

Today Prime Minister Ben Müller pulled his latest power move, as he convicted TeleSur of treason promting a meeting of the German Supreme Court to have a sentencing (or overrule in the case that their is "obvious evidence to the contrary")

After only 3 hours of debate and 4 more for the judges to give a sentence, they ruled 4-1 in favor of giving a more lenient sentence and only forcing TeleSur Deutschland (as it was referred to during the scentencing) to be sold for 25 million NAF, meaning that for TeleSur to still exist in Germany it must be owned and operated by a company not based in TeleSur.

Almost immediately speculation on a potential buyer ensued, while TeleSur usually has very poor ratings it does have a very committed (however small at roughly 2-3% of the voting population) base.

So theoretically with some improvements it could be an asset to a much larger chain.

The first two buyers that seemed to be the most likely were "The Continental Standard" (who nearly immediately shot down the idea of purchasing TeleSur) and "Soziale Revolution" the borderline Socialist and borderline Social Democracy (depending on the writer and editor of the day) who has expressed some interest in purchasing TeleSur, but also stated that they would look further into it.

Currently they are the only news sources with the funds and are left of the average German to purchase TeleSur that are already located in Germany. It is also not immediately clear to the Germanic Times if their is a potential buyer outside of Germany.

Edifice Global Investments begins demolition for new mixed-use development in Santiago

Today Edifice Global Investments held a demolition celebration to mark the beginning of the company's first project in Magella. The Magellan government recently gave planning permission for a NAF$450 million mixed-use development in an inner-city area of Santiago near Metro access to the cities downtown. The development will provide 425 new homes, 15% of which will be affordable housing for low-income people. As well as the new homes the street-level will contain 6 restaurants, 2 supermarkets, a cinema and a piazza, all of which will available to the public. Residents-only facilities will include a gym, swimming pool, massage parlour and hairdressers as well as a luxury rooftop restaurant and rooftop gardens.

Edifice Global Investments CEO Osvaldo Gronchi attended the ceremony and commemoratively started the first part of demolition of the old run-down residential area that the new development will be built on. Mr Gronchi made a speech to celebrate the beginning of the project saying "We at Edifice Global Developments are proud to begin investing in Santiago and Magella as a whole. This is our first investment in the western hemisphere as a whole, and Magella is certainly a worthy country to begin this great adventure." Mr Gronchi then went on to discuss the great changes gentrification has made to Santiago's inner city, saying the city had a "new, cosmopolitan vibe."
