Velestria — The National Team
The New Reign

A new national team manager took the reins for the Cup of Harmony in Schottia’s Jane Gullie and although she didn’t guide the team out of the group stages there’s plenty of reason to be excited for this manager as she comes and tries to change the team’s culture. There’s suddenly an actual reason to be happy for the national team and even though riots and problems have shook the nation prior to the start of the Campionato Esportiva, this can be a chance to rally the people and to bring cheer for the nation. The national team has a chance to bring a reeling nation together, and it been drawn into a tough-ish group, slated to play with heavyweight side, Filindostan which hit has met many times before for Velestria. In a reasonably tough group, Velestria has a chance of getting out if it works on clamping down with defense and finds a way through to the next round.

Team & Tactical Information
The saying goes don’t change what works and clearly if anything there’s a defense that for the most part works for Velestria, sure some shifting might be needed to really assemble an all-around well-oiled machine that can click for the tournament but Jane Gullie should stick with what he got thus far, and she has some nice pieces to play with on the team. Selection camp reaffirmed much of the old guard sits well with the new regime of the Schottian transplant managers, Chris Banker the shot-stopper who surprised everyone and took Diamond Gregory’s starter spot during World Cup qualifiers has been called up after yet another good domestic season, at 29 he’s almost over the 30 year old range but for the future he seems to have that position on lockdown. A big look should be put on the offense, shifting up to the top, Augusta Clark is the clear goal-scorer on the team, with the change to a 4-3-3, who’s going to be the wingers and how will they help the attack? The attack should still run through Furusawa Utamara and Augusta Clark, and we saw some experimenting with that during an international friendly last December between Velestria and Tulize, Clark’s goal in the 57 minute game off an assist from Hoyt Acovina who was experimented with at right wing. And finally, who’s going to be the captain of this squad, Chris Goddard announced his plans to retire from international football early and wasn’t called up to selection camp although there are rumors Jane Gullie has contacted him in case of his need, many call for him not to be used, calling him a symbol of “Mendez’s disassociation with the nation.”

    Style modifier: +3
    Rank: 99th (KPB: 7.11)1
    Usual formation: 4-3-3
Tactical breakdown: Jane Gullie is done experimenting. That’s being shouted from the roof tops and yea, we saw her do it through for games but she seems to have settled on what works best for the team and for her direction of the team; the nucleus seems to have stayed the same but we’re seeing players move around to more comfortable spots and new players are getting a chance to prove themselves off the bench, a great example could be seen with Hoyt Acovina, probably a larger focal point Gullie wishes to improve with over the course of years to come, he’s played in every game either off the bench or starting in all four games thus far Gullie has managed. There’s really been a connection between the bench and with the leadership from Gullie as she looks to create a new national team. Of course, the back is in good hands, expect Chris Banker and Diamond Gregory to share duties during the group stage as they look to take a big start against ROBOSTANIA on the third of Jano. The backline is led by Haroni Beaver who plays for Athletic Letson Town of Ethane; our neighbors who are unfortunately not going to be precedent at this year’s CE. Beaver looks to take the bigger role in the defense as Matt Borell comes back into the fold only arriving back from injury last month, Beaver looks like he’s poised to make a big step in his career. In addition, Davis Larson who quietly had himself a good season has played his way into the Starting XI and will likely find himself having starters time. The midfield is firmly anchored by the presence of Furusawa Utamara whose goal-scoring knack has dimmed in recent times but he looks like he’s going to be just fine, able to compete and easily dominate the field. At the front, Hoyt Acovina is going to need to feed, feed, feed to Augusta Clark who’s looking like she wants to poach as many balls as possible.

SELECTED BIO
Chris Banker
Goalkeeper, 27 Club: Peachtree City F.C. Caps: 17, clean sheets: 8
International Debut: –

He’s already proved he’s the best for Velestria, Chris Banker enters as the clear-cut number one for the job and he deserves the spot, Peachtree City’s been blessed by his appearances throughout the season, he’s kept them in so many games and helped enable the side to a spot in the UICA Globe Cup next season, at 29 he’s got some moreeeee time to head the frontlines and he’s really going to want to make a statement going into World Cup qualification. The qualification cycle is really starting to heat up and its clear Velestria’s number one and Diamond Gregory are engaging in some arguments on the field with their performances, it’s going to be hard to choose who keeps the spot but neither, especially Banker, can afford to put a stain on their reputation at the CE. The nation is expecting a quarterfinals appearance out of Velestria, what’s to say if they can’t even get out of their group? If that happens, then we need to really be reevaluating the entire goal-keeping set-up Gullie’s been running and find new goalkeepers for the national team. But, aside from that there’s no reason to have distrust in thee proven leadership of Chris Banker at the back of the net, I think if we have him starting all three games then Velestria will easily march on to the next round.

Season I (402)
The first season of LigVezia play sees the establishment of a national heavyweight and the birth of a legend as Starblaydi-expariate club, Vegai F.C. storm to an initial title, fourteen points clear of the closest challenger, en route to also scoring a league record 70 goals under the management of Thunder Rivers who later established himself as a dynastic manager in the history of LigVezia. We knew early on something special was breeding, how special? If only we knew.
It was a quiet offseason and nothing much happened, Thunder Rivers did bring in Dominic Saint-Xevaux, regarded at the time as Velestria’s brightest national team player and best player in the pool of Velestrians, it was a shame he’d never venture overseas.

Sport in Velestria — Lacrosse

Postby Velestria » Tue Nov 20, 2018 1:12 pm

Lacrosse has emerged as the second most-popular sport in Velestria, behind the Atlantian Oceanin nation of Banija co-hosting the premiere international lacrosse tourney — the World Lacrosse Championships alongside Velestria's predecessors. lacrosse has grown within the region, behind high-flying sports and acrobatics that are a common part of the game, lacrosse is considered to be a winter sport during the time football is not in session and commonly competes with gridiron and hockey for ratings. The higest federation, the Velish Lacrosse Federation has quietly guided the sport of lacrosse in the nation, similar to gridiron, quietly creating a national team which has risen ever slowly up the rankings; now after three appearances cracking the top-20. Lacrosse is of course a growing sport within Velestria, and Velish domestic teams are also on the rise, looking to build off recent international play and challenge the traditional Cosumarite superpowers in international domestic lacrosse.

With the national league, in Velish, Leeg VLZ now firmly established within the nation, many are waiting for the nation to take the next step, in international play there is now a full pool to choose from for Velestrian players; and Velish supporters are calling for the resurgence to finally be captured within the Velish organization. The domestic circuit has grown, there are new outliers for the league and a nation that seems to be truly able to support the sport of lacrosse seems to have been realized.

Prava Leveg 416 — Rosters

Postby Velestria » Wed Nov 21, 2018 12:52 pm

Image

Image
A.C. 317 ROSES
North Hampton, Vledasia
Stadium: Paula-upon-Buyer Stadium (34,500)
Titles: 2x VFA Lion Cup (412, 413), 1x Prava Leveg (402), 2x VFA Stallion Cup (412, 413)
Manager: Pete Merlot
Name Reason: Taken from the Rosewood Castle which sits within the storied lands of Vledasia.
Club Info: This year is going to be a big downgrade from the success of last season; famed manager Cuthbert Chanceler is no longer with the club, retiring at the ripe ol' age of 77. New guy, 44 year-old Pete Merlot just doesn't look like the guy for the team. Added to that, their replacing a bunch of key pieces on the team, Gabriel Baker the national team center midfielder is retired and other minor pieces are gone. Granted, they did add Salomon Bundy of the United States of Devonta, that should add a little to the team in offensive production although not by much.
Kits: Home, Away
Notable Transfers In: Everman Bartworth (free, Castle City Academy), Scott Coleman (free, University of Marietta), Viva Avery (free, Scotts Academy), Salomon Bundy (2M, 206 Mitche)
Notable Transfers Out: Anthony Sylvester (retired), Gabriel Baker (retired), Dorothy Darris (retired), Rovert Follywolle (waived), Gunther Shawcroft (NPH) (retired)
Starter XI: Painchaud (ACR); Mason, Dering, Bartworth; Coleman, Avery, Lestrange; Bundy (USD) [c], Burge, Cordham, Harris
Other Notable Players: V'kaza (GK, VLZ)

Image
APPLEGATE CITY
Applegate, Lotus Isles
Stadium: The Chocolate Box (18,000)
Titles: 1x Prava Leveg-2 (415)
Manager: Cornelius Armstrong
Name Reason: Named after City of Applegate, of course with name's changed for a clear distinction,.
Club Info: So they won Prava Leveg-2, nothing special. They're obviously going to go back down — or, Tynedale City does exist so actually, it could be a battle to the finish to stay above and not be relegated. Applegate City has some promising youth players in their system, given they they'll most-likely leave for bigger Velestrian clubs, don't expect much out of these guys. I'll give it to them, they can scrap when needed, but — there's no true quality to fight with the big teams here.
Kits: Home, Away
Notable Transfers In: NONE
Notable Transfers Out: NONE
Starter XI: Gregory; Thomas, Larson, Key; Batho, Alliston, Keith, Aden [c], Brooks; Reid, Angel
Other Notable Players: NONE

Image
AQUATARIUS
Keldax, Vledasia
Stadium: The Pit (18,000)
Titles: —
Manager: Dominic Saint-Xevaux
Name Reason: Named after the supposed underwater city in the Vledasian kingdom; Aquatarius has been the subject of debate and myth for years, colors pay homage to the original Keldax sports team, the Keldax Tridents of the now-defunct KHL-1.
Club Info: Ok, so Saint Derby F.C. is now Aquatarius following moving. That's about it. The team's the same, nothing much changes, yet another year of being a midtable club and fans crying for better but supporters shouldn't expect much as long as Dominic Saint-Xevaux is their manager. Aquatarius missed a good transfer window this season in which as many as 35 managers were available for interview and it never dawned the club to look towards interviews?
Kits: Home, Away
Notable Transfers In: Gracy McGrady (free, Oalis Institute)
Notable Transfers Out: George Hikvon (retired)
Starter XI: Gregory; Mylonas (NPH); Faulchuk (NPH), Gergard, Felton, Na’Toheko; Denver, Dully, Putters, McGrady; Paulton, Illewald
Other Notable Players: NONE

Image
ATHLETIC NEW VICTORIA
New Victoria, Olde Lowes
Stadium: The Jewel (65,720)
Titles: 7x VFA Lion Cup (402, 403, 404, 405, 407, 414), 4x Prava Leveg (402, 403, 405, 408)
Manager: Victor Kingsley (60)
Name Reason: Named after city.
Club Info: Had this had been any other season, the Swans alongside Battlebrook and Fullham would have been in a tight battle for the 3rd and 4th spots, however with Stonehenge high above them, the Swans were able to put together a few good final match days and edge past Battlebrook by 3 points and scoot above Fullham to the third spot. Now of course, that team has largely remained intact; equipped with the national team goalie, the team's defense has been slightly altered with van Dee and van Dijk, both notable prospects transferred within the system. The upcoming season will be a silent one for the team, a quiet one, Kingsley looks like a quality coach in his third season. In recent years, The Jewel has taken second place to Freeman Turf; their regional rivals, Stonehenge has been the upperclass over the past two seasons; that's not expected to change.
Kits: Home, Away
Notable Transfers In: Ambert Eden (free, C.C.I.A.), Carson Merlot (free, Warner Academy), Stefan van Dee (.440k, Mazius Academy), Morten van Dijk (1M, Academy of Amsterwald)
Notable Transfers Out: Steven Smalee (retired), Evans Recson (retired), Jean Macpherson (.790k, Tynedale City)
Starter XI: Thomas; Tyndall, Williams [c], Norwood; Na’Verii, van Dee, van Dijk, Kirkman, Hornley, Merlot; Eden
Other Notable Players: NONE

Image
AZUREA
Stonehenge, Olde Lowe
Stadium: Freeman Turf (31,000)
Titles: 2x VFA Lion Cup (414, 415), 2x Prava Leveg (414, 415), 1x VFA Stallion Cup (414)
Manager: Christoper Tajo Mendez (USD)
Name Reason: Named after lighthouse situated on beach of Stonehenge, rumored to be haunted and the situation of the main plot of The Awning House Murders teleseires.
Club Info: A.C. Sontehenge saw a rename to Azurea, a famed nod to the lighthouse on the piers of Stonehenge Beach, now they look to expand on their two-straight championships and bring forth another one. Coupled with the addition of Devontan international, Salomon Bundy, this team looks impenetrable and looks ready to gun for another title in the Prava Leveg. With another win, there's bound to be a renewal of contract for Tajo Mendez, the manager who has quietly lead this revolution for Azurea and also was tasked with guiding the national team last cycle.
Kits: Home, Away
Notable Transfers In: Everman Bartworth (free, Castle City Academy), Scott Coleman (free, University of Marietta), Viva Avery (free, Scotts Academy), Gareth Carmen (free, Oglethorpe Academy)
Notable Transfers Out: Kevin Fyberr (retired), Efrom Heartland (retired), Godrith Pettleton (retired)
Starter XI: de Oca (COS) [c]; Borell, Blackson, Avery, Bartworth; White, Utamara, Butler; Coleman, Carmen
Other Notable Players:

Image
BATTLEBROOK UNITED
Eden, Lotus Islands
Stadium: Ares Moor (31,500)
Titles: —
Manager: Karl Warner
Name Reason: Named after the famed creek where the last battle in the Razen War of the Lotuses were fought.
Club Info: A new manager following the retirement of Birmingham Union brings a new style of play; how Battlebrook United was able to be in the top-5 last season is stunning to us. A club who's massively rebuilding and healing old scars, this team is essentially a new version of Tynedale City; if they manage to win 5 games this season it will be a triumph for Battlebrook supporters.
Kits: Home, Away
Notable Transfers In: Robert Brownsmith (free, Olde Lowe U19), Sean Come (free, Calibri Academy), Don Gilbert (free, Carson City Thunder), Yamato Levell (free, Arden University), Reed Purvoche (.40k, 206 Mitche), Triste Sherman (free, Arrowhead Academy)
Notable Transfers Out: Vernon Thomas (retired), Sean Alexander (retired), Primrose Butterworth (waived), Weston Paulie (retired), David Lochteth (retired), Benjamin Rotherly (waived)
Starter XI: Purvoche; Levell, Peabody, Sherman’ Yates, Chase, Merstun; Gilbert, Brownsmith, Come, Blackfoot
Other Notable Players: NONE

CEREZO PLYMOUTH
Plymouth, Vledasia
Stadium: Plymouth Plantations (15,000)
Titles: —
Manager: Alan Peterson
Name Reason: The team name Cerezo (Spanish for cherry tree) is also the flower of Plymouth city.
Club Info: The only expansion club for this season, Cerezo Plymouth enters into the first division as a team cast of mostly young players; they have absolutely no chance to stay alive this season. That is until of course they somehow will manage to and throw the league into frenzy. Aside from that, there's nothing to notice about this club, same-old, same-old.
Kits: Home, Away
Notable Transfers In: NONE
Notable Transfers Out: NONE
Starter XI: Anderson; Comet, Thomas, Ethan; William, Bruno, Tab [c]; Alexis, Verdon, Broadly; Korde
Other Notable Players: NONE

FULLHAM RANGERS
Fullham, Knollcrown Lands
Stadium: Old Torchmaine (57,000)
Titles: 1 VFA Lions Cup (406), 4x Prava Leveg (404, 407, 409, 410), 1x VFA Stallion Cup (409)
Manager: Peter Fermen
Name Reason: Named for the former defunct Rangers Club of eons ago.
Club Info: The Rangers and a 66 year-old Peter Fermen are back on the job and don't expect any different; minor changes are spent thru the squad but the team that 86 goals last season is back together. Thor Cronin, the Brenician frontman who gathered 22 goals in 29 appearances is at the front, at 35 this is likely his last campaign in a Rangers uniform, Of course, plenty of new spots, in goalie, the young Thorn Rivers son of famed manager, Thunder Rivers has inserted himself at the goalie position; whether or not he can prove himself this season will be of major importance to the club. Fermen's 6 years in charge of the club have yielded all top-4 finishes, this year he'll struggle to guide the team.
Kits: Home, Away
Notable Transfers In: Thorn Rivers (free, Cortana Zana Academy), Vronin Ingles (free, Konami Motors FC)
Notable Transfers Out: Uthaniel Horthall (retired), Evans Thirdgray (retired)
Starter XI: Rivers; Horthall, Barber, Fedborne; Kelly, Ingles; Valstrom, Charlie, Cronin (BRE) [c], Davis
Other Notable Players: NONE

Image
GAMBA CALIX
Calix Zana, J'Abari Lands
Stadium: Old Torchmaine (57,000)
Titles: —
Manager: Pierre Denton
Name Reason: The team's name Gamba comes from the Italian word "gamba" meaning "leg" and the Japanese ganbaru (頑張る), meaning "to do your best" or "to stand firm".
Club Info: The former Calix City FC has been bought by emphatic big-company spenders, North Mobile who've made it their goal to produce a champion in the newly-renamed Gamba Calix (Calix pronounced cal-e). Gamba Calix didn't do much this offseason besides debuting new uniforms and extending manager Pierre Denton for an additional season. Denton is rumored to be in the front running to head the Velestrian U-18 national team following the retiring of former manager Gordon Heyward who elected to retire from take on 414 Christcastle's job full-time. Expect a midlevel run once more, nothing big is going to happen in Calix Zana until Denton leaves and the purse opens next year.
Kits: Home, Away
Notable Transfers In: NONE
Notable Transfers Out: NONE
Starter XI: Henriksen (AUD); Audley, Reven, Dermen, Kelly; Sa’kiera, Joes, Williams, Teriva; Felix, Crabbleton [c]
Other Notable Players: NONE

OLD BIRMINGHAM CITY
Old Birmingham, Olde Lowes
Stadium: Mirasu Complex (21,000)
Titles: 2x VFA Lions Cup (412, 413), 1x Prava Leveg (412), 2x VFA Stallion Cup (410, 413)
Manager: Ike Xavier
Name Reason: Named after the city, formed as a replacement for Sporting Voranza.
Club Info: Barely escaping relegation? First-to-worst? Times have changed rapidly in Old Birmingham, they got relegated too as they move into the much smaller Mirasu Complex leaving Torchwood Park which was closed after only twenty-three years. Meanwhile, on the pitch it looks staler than ever; Fuster isn't the answer at goalkeeper but the Audioslav is all that Xavier has to work with. If he can rescue this team, it will be truly stunning; the iconic bands return to the away kit.
Kits: Home, Away
Notable Transfers In: Glenn Preston (free, Project Varx), Kennedy Walker (free, Northmond Academy), Clark Brett (free, Signe Academy)
Notable Transfers Out: Vernon Parks (retired), Darth Brett (retired), Henry Beaver (waived)
Starter XI: Fuster (AUD); Preston, Walker, Lawnder, Brett; Peaflower [c], Bawlex; Bradley, Durmont, Eugene; Borough
Other Notable Players: Ellis Whiner (GK, VLZ)

Image
PEACHTREE F.C.
Peachtree City, Vledasia
Stadium: City of Peachtreee Stadium (16,000)
Titles: —
Manager: Pudwig Tonks
Name Reason: Named after the city, formed as a replacement for Sporting Voranza.
Club Info: Peachtree F.C. escaped relegation last season and they'll do it again this season because that's their trademark. Aside from that, there's nothing special to see here, a normal team doing normal things isn't that exciting for the league. Peachtree F.C. will need new leadership and shake the scales of Prava Leveg-2 days, even if that means rehauling the entire roster (coach included!).
Kits: Home, Away
Notable Transfers In: NONE
Notable Transfers Out: NONE
Starter XI: Banker; Gonei (ASK), Campball, Palace, Deveon; Singleson [c], Kaiser, Geonfel; Sunshield, Aonen, Kalbum
Other Notable Players: NONE

Image
PYRACANTHA
Christcastle, Knollcrown Lands
Stadium: Carley Knoll (27,000)
Titles: —
Manager: Gordon Heyward
Name Reason: Takes name from the famed Pyracanthian Mines of Knollcrown, based in city of Christcastle, team renamed from last season.
Club Info: Despite wearing the same uniforms from last season with a new logo sewed over the former team of 414 Christcastle, the new, aptly-renamed team, Pyracantha is still in its second season and is expecting to have an uphill battle, battling to remain in contention and not drop to the lower leagues. Not a lot is really discussed on this team, but they have some skill and hopefully, for people at home we can hope that there is better team-chemistry slowly being build.
Kits: Home, Away
Notable Transfers In: Carmen Brown (free, Roswell City Academy), Robin Seuss (ACR) (free, league expulsion draft)
Notable Transfers Out: Anthony Sylvester (retired), Keith Venderton (retired)
Starter XI: Austrih (BRE); Borgan, Bogman, Brown; Felix, Forest, Guimave (ACR) [c], Seuss (ACR); Ha’Kaen, Fa’Zenke, Deerhaven
Other Notable Players: NONE

Image
READING ATHLETIC
Reading-upon-Wychester, Knollcrown Lands
Stadium: Eventry Plaza (19,050)
Titles: —
Manager: Charles Courtney
Name Reason: Named after city of Reading-upon-Wychester, obviously shortened because that's a mouthful to say whenever your player scores.
Club Info: Second to Applegate City last season, now they've moved up to the league with the big guns, now you've got a pretty clean team, most players are young and they're all showing a lot of promise out here. Reading comes across as a capable team, and given the state of some formerly formidable teams, they could sneak up high and have a good run this season.
Kits: Home, Away
Notable Transfers In: NONE
Notable Transfers Out: NONE
Starter XI: Barker; Woodhill, Cousins; Barks, Williamson, Anglewood; Mark, Bishop, Willie, Dorminson; Clark [c]
Other Notable Players: NONE

Image
TYNEDALE CITY
Zmaoi Zana, J'Abari Lands
Stadium: South Tynedale Park (27,750)
Titles: —
Manager: Harry Illvermorny
Name Reason: Named after Henry Tynedale, activist for colored peoples and founder of first king of the J'Abari peoples.
Club Info: Tynedale City has long been mired in controversy, it seems all of which was put aside for this season after years of rolling in it. This team won't be great, after all, it takes years to recover from hapless failures; however slight improvements will be seen on all sides. Illvermorny was a step in the right direction for the team last season, now they just have to endure growing pains.
Kits: Home, Away
Notable Transfers In: NONE
Notable Transfers Out: NONE
Starter XI: Lancett (BRE); Felles (ASK) [c], Raskerin, Rasaux; Gilderoy, Nottingham, Thomas; Element, Gerald, Foreman, Garret
Other Notable Players: NONE

Image
VENTFORET REAVEN
Reaven, Lotus Isles
Stadium: Banc of Lotus Stadia (31,000)
Titles: —
Manager: Margaret Carthy
Name Reason: The word "Ventforet" is a compound formed from two French root words: "vent" (wind) and "forêt" (forest). The name alludes to the famous phrase "Ventaforze" that Anabella V'aken, a prominent Reaven-based daimyō in the Bachenge period, emblazoned on her war banners. The phrase contains four similies: as swift as the wind; as silent as a forest; as fierce as fire; as immovable as a mountain.
Club Info: Last year's Club Everbran, this year's Ventforet Reaven, as the third-place side they were assured promotion into the club with the big guns, and it clearly paid off as the club has brought forth new logos and all new assorted toys for the team. Reaven's consistently among the best in Prava Leveg-2, expect them to once more be among the best with the Prava Leveg-2 sides, they'll be in a tight race to not be sent back down but it'll be worth it for fans who have been waiting a bit for this top-flight competition.
Kits: Home, Away
Notable Transfers In: NONE
Notable Transfers Out: NONE
Starter XI: Douglas; Coleman, Park, Lee, Will, Thompson; Barkley, Phillips; Avery, Jordan [c]; Welthom
Other Notable Players: NONE

Image
VISSEL AYENI
Ayenizana, J'Abari Lands
Stadium: Ayeni Zana Sports Park (30,000)
Titles: 1x Prava Leveg (406)
Manager: Thomas Goldstein
Name Reason: In 1415, the city of Ayeni reached an agreement with Keragon Steel, the parent company, to move the club to Ayeni and replace Navy Club in the league as Vissel Ayeni. Vissel is a combination of the words "victory" and "vessel", in recognition of Ayeni's history as a port city.
Club Info: Vissel Ayeni or rather the new version of Navy Club is largely back with no real differences, of course a new manager in Thomas Goldstein has been given a 3-season contract to stabilize the mess at Vissel. Vissel's new uniforms are beauftiful but their play is...not going to be pretty. They should be able to manage to avoid relegation smoothly, however don't expect anything special from this side. Wezakali Breadton, remember him? He was the bright future netminder for the Velestrian national team, after a poor performance at the last CE, don't expect him to be recalled.
Kits: Home, Away
Notable Transfers In: Yo Pierre (free, Cortana Zana Academy)
Notable Transfers Out: Quintin Ravenburg (waived)
Starter XI: Breadton; Pennywise, Lewis (ETH), Rashrock Pierre; Morgan, Pepperbridge, Doolittle; Revelton, Gerry, Meno (AUD) [c]
Other Notable Players: NONE

Out in Southampshire: Dragons fire national team head coach Timothy McGraw
Image

SOUTHAMPSHIRE—The Velish Lacrosse Federation hit the reset button in a major way earlier today, after 12 years on the job national team had coach, Timothy McGraw is out as VLF chairman, Rodger Ross makes sweeping changes to the national team. This comes after the Velish national team failed to reach the knockouts of the 30th World Lacrosse Championships in Cassadaigua, of course this after a run to the quarterfinals in WLC 29; many had expected the Velish to come forth and put on a tremendous effort in the 30th edition. Now, the process sis expected to begin for looking for a new head coach, the Velish federation has not given much of a hints as to who is to come in to take over the team.

In 12 years with the team and as the first head coach of the national team, McGraw lead the national team to a 14-1-18 record, including a leading the team to quarterfinals berths in WLC 25, 26 and 29; the past two seasons, under the McGraw leadership, the Dragons have went 8-1-9. Following the failure to qualify for the knockouts, the team announced the mutual resolution of McGraw's contract, a statement from the Velish federation, "the past twelve years under the leadership of Coach McGraw have been wonderful and we are thankful to his contributions to the sport of lacrosse. Velestria will be forever thankful, #thedragonsden."

There's no doubt that Mrs. McGraw will be picked up by the VLL, the VLL is looking to make the jump in the IDLO and finally go to the IDLO Champions Cup finals with one of their teams, yearly competitors like the Cumberland Kats or the Mount Paran Greens would love to add him to their roster, or rebuilding teams who need a reset (St. Teresa we're looking at you!) most-defiantly could use a McGraw reset. McGraw was forced to work with an aging defense for much of his tenure, it wasn't until WLC 29 when lacrosse was professionalized in Velestria, and defense has always been an issue with his teams. Goalies who were largely touted in domestic play simply couldn’t live up to their names, James Knight, the 36 year-old goalie who was between the pipes for WLC 30 wasn't even considered top-5 caliber a season ago. McGraw was also unfairly piled with injuries this time around as perhaps a contributing factor to a failed cycle, there was also the strange choice to run a double round-robin at the choice of the hosts, one McGraw came out against off on multiple occasions. However it wasn't the injuries that doomed the Velish team but a splotchy defense that's been checkered across all his tenures, of course for now McGraw had a scapegoat to hide behind.

A 10-7 loss and a listless performance against the tournament hosts doomed the McGraw leadership and brought the era ever closer to an end, it was announced three games later of the mutual agreement to part ways, leaving his record to end at 14-1-18, not a winning record surprisingly. Many players over the years have said that McGraw was definitely one of the best coaches they've worked with, hiring a new coach will be an important task for the VLF as they'll need to find someone as beloved as the longest-tenured national team lacrosse coach in Esportiva. Chairman, Rodger Ross related and spoke to media, "A big thanks to the contributions of Mr. McGraw over the years, he's been such a wonderful person to the organization and to the nation. A person who's remained dedicated to the league and improving everything surrounding it, it's going to take a long time to replace what McGraw did for us and for that we are thankful."

Continuing on, the chairman spoke on the state of the federation at the end of the game, speaking on expansion of the VLL as being a top goal for the next year, "we'd like to increase the number of teams in the VLL to 18 teams in the next few years, we're eyeing expansions into here in the capital and of course looking at adding a team to Calix to replace SC Calix." Speaking on the famed team of old, SC Calix from the semi-professional PDL of old, bringing the team back invigorated some supporters of the old club which included such Velish superstars such as Ardent Kashuti and others from the early years of the national team. He'd also go on to say, "the start for a new coach starts immediately, we're not going to slack off at all, it’s important that we find a definite leader who can guide us to help us take the next step."

Another goal, he said is to increase pay in the VLL, currently with players on average making ꝟ64,200 (N$54.5k) a season, the salary cap has been increased to N$1.25 million with minimum salaries now required to be at N$55k starting for the next season, speaking on it Ross said, "It’s an improvement for the sport of lacrosse and we're going to change an improve for the betterment of all lacrosse players."

McGraw in other news is going to find another job, no doubt in a few seasons, we've seen what he's been able to do, the North Hampton Evergreens have fired Alexi Barron and could be interested in bringing back their former director of player personnel. However, general manager, Arthur Carlson said "we are not committed to interviewing Mr. McGraw at this time."

Calix City Dawgs owner, Sharpie Killham who's owned the failed franchise for the past three seasons is also high on McGraw, and with the Dawgs looking much improved this could be a huge opportunity. With 5 openings in the league, there's no doubt McGraw finds a job in the next few weeks.
