Imperan League Sports Newswire

This is the topic for all sports competitions of the Imperan League nations, brought to you by Imperan Olympic Association and Union of Sports Associations of Imperan League, UNISA.

Rugby Codes are not currently part of this newswire, please go to Imperan Rugby Newswire.

If you are not a member of the Imperan League, an invited nation or an on-duty moderator, please refrain from posting here.

The Imperan Nations: Alice Bay, Ariannin, Aristian Republic, Grand Merina, Kikunomi, Lisander, Lorenthia, Rhaecia, Saint Ianina, Vassiya.

A note on gender policies:
Imperan League athletes are separated by gender when it comes to some sports, a practice that is frowned upon in most nations.

Sports are physical activities in which one depends on body skills. Since Lisander has no sentient animals, hybrid or robot populations, sports are practised only by humans. Males and females are clearly different. Males are taller, have thicker bones and higher lungs capacity than females. Cross-hormone treatment cannot fully suppress all these biological competitive advantages. Have in mind that Imperan League is a MT region.

There's also a series of problematic cases involving intersex sports, like the transgender fighter who broke her opponent skull, or the transgender powerlifter who set a new world record after completing only 11 months of hormone treatment.

Male and female athletes do not play together in territorial games (like football codes, rugby, basketball, hockey codes) and combat sports (except for selected fencing events). For these sports, unless clearly stated otherwise, the leagues on these sports already posted are all male.

Male and female athletes are allowed to compete together in Sailing, Equestrian sports (including Horse Polo), Motorsports and selected fencing events.

As a newswire, this thread is a constant WIP. Thanks for your patience.

Image Lisander

The Principality of Lisander is the oldest of the nations in Imperan League, and one of its founders. Located in the Atlantic Ocean, is the home of 11 million people. Lisander National Sport is Rugby Union. Association Football is also popular, as well as Field Hockey, Basketball and Motorsports. Just in case you are interested to know where some team or arena is located, in the spoiler you will find a map of Lisander cities.

Image

The growth of the economy has provided opportunities for many sports, and from the moment that the communities of these sports organize to form a federation and a national team, they receive generous financial support from the sports ministry.

The nation is by far the most cultured of Imperan League, and this contributed to the resurgence or popularization of sports that were once considered "sports only for rich people", like Cricket, Fencing, Horse Polo, Sailing, Tennis and even some categories of Motorsports.

Lisanderian national sports teams are usually called "Ermines" or "Stoats", after the national animal, Mustela erminea; "Lys" or "Lises" or "Irises" for the national symbol, the Fleur-de-lis, and its natural counterpart and national plant, Iris pseudacorus. They usually wear shades of green or white uniforms as uniforms, but with the advent of new technologies and trends in sports apparel, National Teams of Lisander can be seen wearing teal (Cricket T20), gold (Ice Hockey) or shades of monochrome (Rugby Union).

Rankings (at 2019/02/22):

Image Alice Bay

The Commonwealth of Alice Bay is a small nation in the Pacific. A former Lisanderian Colony, is currently the home of 1.8 million people. Rugby Union, Cricket and Footy are the most popular sports. There's a growing female field hockey scene since Aliceans hosted the last Imperan Championship of the sport. Association Football is somewhat popular, in special Beach Soccer, although a Professional League does not exist.

Being a former colony of Lisander, the nation is seen as the main rival of the Principality in the Rugby Union scene. The Crux, as they're called, is a NationStates Rugby Board full-member, ranking around Top 15. On the other hand, Alice Bay Cricket Board merged itself with Lisanderian Cricket Board, to form the Lisander and Alice Bay Cricket Board (LCB).

Leagues:
Rugby Union
Division 1: AMI Unions Cup - Premiership
Division 2: AMI Unions Cup - Championship

Still trying to fit more maori and pasifika surnames. Hit me with some.

Image Lorenthia

The Kingdom of Lorenthia is an archipelago state monarchy in the Nothern Sea. Is currently the home of 3.2 million people, who loves Ice Hockey. They're, in fact, the Ice Hockey strongest nation in Imperan League, easily overpowering the lisanderians. Winter sports like Curling, Speed Skating and Bobsleigh are also common. Yet not an Olympic sport, Regatta is popular, with competitions around the two islands of the nation being very common.

There is a keen interest in Motorsports. Rugby are slowly growing, backed by Imperan Rugby initiatives, as well as Fencing. Association Football is not that common, but there are some amateurs playing it.

Leagues:
Ice Hockey
Elitserien

Image Ariannin

Ariannin is a cosmopolitan city-state in South Atlantic Coast, home of a half million of expats from world centers, attracted by the nation being a Tax Haven. Football and Rugby share the attention of practitioners. Because of the modest size of the country, there are not many fields. Local rugby remains amateur, away from the reality of the big centers, but football is professional and is expanding. The ABk Uwch Gynghrair (Premier League, sponsored by the ABk (Ariannin Bank) started in 2011 and brings together teams sponsored by local and transnational companies from various countries.The league still has a second semiprofessional division, the National League, but this struggle to keep. Being home for a lot of rich people, there's a lot of speculation about new sports appearing in Ariannin. Alyn Terfel, a local driver, has already competed in WGP2.

Leagues:
Association Football
ABk Uwch Gynghrair (D1)
National League (D2)

ImageRhaecia

Rhaecia is the smaller of Imperan Nations, with only near 500,000 inhabitants. For long a Grand-Duchy, it turned into a Republic after the death of the last Grand Duke. Due to its modest dimensions, only have fourteen federated male football teams, all of them semi-professional, while only twelve semi-pro teams play in the ladies Eccelenza/Hoofdklasse Hockey. Yet, the nation has a strong community of individual and amateur sports. Approximately 77% of Rhaecians declare themselves as sportsmen/sportswomen, many of them playing more than one sport.

Leagues:
Association Football
Tele+R Liga

Field Hockey
Eccelenza/Hoofdklasse

Image Aristian Republic

Aristian Republic is a nation in love with basketball, also learning to love rugby and other sports. Yet, its national sports are more like the individual ones. Shooting and Motorcycling, especially.

The Premiership (Tristarbank Premiership for sponsoring reasons) is the First Division of Lisander. The Premiership emerged from a club initiative, supported by Tristarbank, to replace the championship of the former Union des Associations de Football de Principauté de Lisander, later Federação Lisandena de Futebol, Confederação Nacional de Desportos and now back to Federação Lisandena de Futebol.

Info: BC Olympia is one of the most traditional basketball teams in Lisander. They took to Lerna, one of the biggest cities in western Lisander, lots of relevant titles in Amateur Basketball. They are currently sponsored by K-Star, the biggest supermarket chain of Western Lisander. K-Star is property of Armando Castar, who played basketball for Olympia between 1955-1957, so he was the first contacted by team to assume as sponsor. Much is expected from this team.

Starters:
PG #27 Athanasios Moran
SG #4 Raphael Alion

Uniforms
Location: Isny, Eastern Province
Colors: Dark Blue and Red.
Arena: Isny Communal Sports Park (cap. 1000)
Info: Isny Valliant is a traditional rugby team in Eastern Province, currently searching new sponsors and opportunities. Basketball was a low-risk investment, considering Isny is a city in the region called "The Shield", they could count with players not contracted by bigger teams in the area. They don't have many expectations in being accepted by FLB, but with the acceptance, came a lot of interest from supporters and sponsoring from public sector.

Starters:
PG #5 Rodrigo Gatti
SG #9 Leonardo Aseri
SF #33 Kyle Ingers
PF #14 Lucas Heinrich

Arena: Myrtilis Pavillion (cap. 5100)
Info: They also are a team of the region called Shield. "Our production keeps the nation safe like a shield", the people usually say. Cities from Mid-north were mainly agricultural before the digital revolution. Since they had no permanent Ice and "green fields for production shouldn't be wasted", wood floors were common, and then basketball turned popular. Myrtilis BC is the oldest basketball team of the region, founded in 1935. The Communal Chamber funds the team itself, Making Myrtilis BC a 100% public team.
Starters:
PG #9 Serge Lorandi

Uniforms
Location: Montecorvo, Eastern Province
Colors: Dark Blue
Arena: The Crow Nest, Oficially Ginásio da Associação Atlética Montecorvina (cap. 7000)
Info: Dark colors, a discret logo slick and cool uniforms turned the Crows in the favourite team of all hipsters in Lisander. Montecorvo is a small city, and one of the highest, reaching nearly 1000 meter high. The crows are common. The team itself is not that good, but the club have an awesome structure. The Montecorvina is a private club, but nearly 70% of the 9,000 citizens living in Montecorvo are members. Can surprise in long-term.

Starters:
PG #32 Edward Sevres
SG #
SF #4 Tássio Vins
PF #9 Selesius Lynn
C #5 Matias Bridi

Image
Uniforms
Location: Orissa, Eastern Province
Colors: Brick Red, White.
Arena: Stars Garden, (cap. 4100)
Info: Myrtilis had wooden floor for its team. When Orissa, their eastern neighbours, founded their team, one year after, they couldn't afford that floor, so they used to play and train in a red clay bricks floor. Later, they decided to honor the pioneers of the basketball who stood against the Myrtilian bullying, the club adopted the "Brick Red" as its main colour. Orissa and Myrtilis still have a strong rivalry in basketball, if not the strongest of them.

Starters:
PG #4 Jácome Lunardon
SG #
SF #17 Augusto Vieira
PF #77 Kendall Guerrero
C #46 Vicente Ancona

Image
Uniforms
Location: Sunion, North
Colors: Sky Blue, Navy, White.
Arena: Arena Comunal de Sunion, (cap. 980) or Lesport Olympique Arena (cap. 6000)
Info: From its foundation to two years ago, they were part of Lesport Olympique, but when the Commune (Municipality) of Sunion was founded, they decided to relocate, attracted by investment and added a nickname. The Dragons are probaly the weakest of the SuperLiga teams, but they have a solid budget and two arenas to play: The ultra-modern but small Sunion Arena, or their former home, Olympique Arena, bigger, but older.

Starters:
PG #11 Wesley Mora
SG #
SF #27 Patricio Ferri

Info: Undoubtedly one of the greatest powers of the national sport, AS Virtus 1904 also have pro teams in Premiership (football) and LNH (Hockey), with all of them being nicknamed Arminhos (Stoats). AS Virtus 1904 have a successful team, gathering the best players of the St. Michael Archangel University (Virtus was founded by USMA alumni in 1904). Hermine Airlines secured a sponsorship with them, so the team ACTUALLY have a stoat in the jersey (the airline logo).

Starters:
PG #6 Danilo Dreyfus
SG #
SF #24 Guistavo Pircio
PF #7 Laurent Oyon
C #41 Conrado Villar
C #7 Atila Porter

Image
Uniforms
Location: Despina, Western Province
Colors: Red, White.
Arena: Despina Arena (cap. 1800)
Info: Oeste is the "ugly daughter" of Despina. While Virtus have its own structure, Clube Atlético Oeste started as a workers club and just jumped in the bandwagon of basketball because of the investment of a foreign enterprise. They will try to secure at least a spot on playoffs for start, but don't expect that much of them.

Starters:
PG #11 Xavier Moran
SG #
SF #43 Domingos Baroni
PF #9 Galiano Holstein
C #17 Jonas Mertens
C #44 Vili Tomasi

Image
Uniforms Previous
Location: Casterwill City, Eastern Province
Colors: Gold, Blue, Green, Burgundy
Arena: Parc des Sports Countess Tarsila (cap. 8000)
Info: Contrary to what the name says, Casterwill Roses isn't a club, but a Public Limited Sports Company, where the Countess of Casterwill have 67% of the actions and the Casterwill Cricket Club retains the other 33%. Roses are another team founded exclusively for the SuperLiga, and have good players, but will probably lack in teamwork, since they're coming from colleges and teams around the nation.

Starters:
PG #5 Henrique Conti
SG #44 Zane Mott
SF #26 Filipe Negromonte
PF #
C #4 Lisandro Montagne
G #9 Oliver Skye

Libertas also secured the biggest sponsoring contract of Lisander Basketball, having nearly the double of the highest budget of Northern Division (Olympia). They're expected to make a great season, since they contracted the best semi-pro and alumni basketball players in the Capital City of Soria. They are also the only team with a foreigner, the Aristian Asier Laso.

Starters:
PG #4 Damian Michaelichen
SG #12 Mateo Mastrangelo
SF #27 Filipe Frièse
PF #34 Herald Delagardelle
C #9 Asier Laso (ARS)

Arena: Palaestra (cap. 9000)
Info: The Old Lady of Lisanderian sports, Club Sparta have the most successful team in Lisanderian Football, having also teams in Rugby and Ice Hockey. Basketball in Sparta is an old sport, the fourth one in order of inception (after Rugby, Football and Swimming), and the team, composed mainly of Sainte-Justine University alumni, will host its opponents in Palaestra, a great arena built side by side with Estadio Sparta, in the estate of Lutz Family, owner of the club.

Starters:
PG #
SG #14 Eric Seller

Arena: The Box (cap. 10000), ACK Arena (cap. 32000)

The team itself isn't top tier and should content itself with reaching playoffs. They are playing in ACK Arena while The Box (a 10k-seat arena ACK will share with LNH Kasandora Blues) isn't completed.

Starters:
PG #
SG #11 Tiago Howells
SF #7 Gulherme Artidoro
PF #4 Lauro Sordi
C #20 Martin Lytz
F #30 Alessandro Hartins

Image
Uniforms
Location: Cidade de Lisander, Azhaar
Colors:White, Blue, Red and Black.
Arena: Azhaar Communal Arena (cap. 1000)
Info: Azhaar, or The Islands, were the first settlement of Lisanderian founders. Cidade de Lisander currently have a population of only 20,000 inhabitants, due to the small size of the island (smaller than every other commune in Lisander). Azhaar team is a prospect, thought to generate interest and media attention to islands. The group is composed by amateur players and college alumni born in the islands or with families living here.
Starters:
PG #4 Magno Nunes
SG #60 Orian Natel
SF #24 Ryan Solier
PF #36 Alexandre Martins

Format
In the season, teams face every other team in a triple round-robin. The first and third legs are played home and away games, while the second leg, in between, will have matches played in a neutral venue. The top four of each division advance to playoffs. Postseason phases are played in series of five matches and the first team to win 3 matches advances to the following round. This applies to Quarterfinals, Semifinals and International Playoff. The Superliga Finals will be played in a series of seven matches. The table is fixed, so Northern and Southern Division champions can't play in the postseason otherwise than in Finals. Between the Finalists, the team with most a better performance in the regular season plays the matches 1, 3, 5 and 7 at home.

Quarterfinals (series of 5)
Quarterfinal 1 - North 1 v South 4
Quarterfinal 2 - South 2 v North 3
Quarterfinal 3 - South 1 v North 4
Quarterfinal 4 - North 2 v South 3

Semifinals (series of 5)
Semifinal 1 - Winner of QF1 v Winner of QF2
Semifinal 2 - Winner of QF3 v Winner of QF4

International Playoff (series of 5), 3rd place final. Winner earns a spot to IUBC Trophy
Loser of SF1 v Loser of SF2

The Finals (series of 7)
Winner of SF1 v Winner of SF2

The Metropolitan Hockey Championship (in portuguese Metropolitano de Hóquei), currently addressed Hellebank League by sponsorship reasons, is the main tournament of Field Hockey in Lisander. It's a Semi-Pro league, completely managed by MetroLeague SAD, a private company in which the shareholders are the clubs themselves. The official statement says it's a league made from, by and for women, that usually had restricted time and audience in team sports.

The history of Lisanderian Field Hockey in brief lines:
During the last century, sports in Lisander were social facts. In a way, niche fun. There was a specific audience for each sport. For the residents of Soria who could afford to join one of the big clubs (The Victorian Club, Linville Athletic Club, St. Helen's Club, Club d'Escrime and Elysium Club), the most interesting sports were Rugby for boys and Field Hockey for the girls. Thus, Field Hockey evolved in Lisander as an exclusively female sport.

Rugby in summer, Hockey in Winter. These are the national sports, between males, of Lisander. And the same financial crisis that hit lisanderian rugby also hit the Hockey League. The professional impulse came from the early 2000s with the emergence of clubs as businesses, the restoration of the Harmin Cup paid by the government and the revival of LNH (for three seasons branded nLNH due to image rights issues), glorious, now divided between Northern and South Conference.

Liga Aristiana Saskibaloi

Basketball is maybe the most popular team sport in Aristian Republic. The first division of pro basketball is the Liga Aristiana Saskibaloi. Usually, companies buy the naming rights of teams, since the costs of a league are somewhat big to clubs without a big sponsor. Basketball Club Laviania can be or not addressed as Aristia Telecom Basketball, its commercial name, depending on which medium is broadcasting the game. Channel 4 is controlled by a company competing with Aristian Telecom, so the team is called ATB Laviania by broadcasters when Channel 4 broadcasts the games.

Liga Nacional (National League) is the second division of Lisanderian Football. Before the Premiership, it was a semi-pro tournament, but with the boost of professionalism that the experience of a new first division generated in the lower leagues, The National League had its first edition completely pro already in the second season of Premiership, so the calendar starts from 2. Currently, the National League is sponsored by the pharmaceutical company Remington.

Rhaecia it is a country so small that in half an hour you cross it between its most distant points. However, it is the country with more hockey fields per square kilometer. There are 4 in total: One in San Giovanni, one in the capital, Alania. The last two are in Winterburg, the national hockey center and the city with the most teams in the country.

Since Rhaecia is a multi-language nation, the first division is named Hoofdklasse or Eccellenza, depending on what city/team is hosting the game.

Continental Cup

Continental Cup - After presentation of "economic and ecologic" yatch specifications, four yatch clubs had already applied to Challenge the Sea Ermine.

Image
Prototype of the Continental-18 Class presented on the coast of Newport, Alice Bay, site of the next edition of the Continental Cup

The most charming sailing competition in Imperan League has already known challengers. In the first week after the announcement of the specifications for the Yachts that will sail the coast of Newport, Alice Bay, four syndicates declared their interest in challenging the Sea Ermine III, Team Hermine Airlines and Quarto Clube de Oficiais da Armada boat.

"Those who dare to defy the vessel skipped by His Highness, the Prince of Lisander," are:

Team R.E.D. (Alice Bay Yacht Clubs Union, Alice Bay): Former champions were defeated in the penultimate edition by the Hermine Airlines team. This time the Team R.E.D. has the advantage of sailing in their own waters.

Spirit Ariannin (The Crown Yatch Club, Ariannin): Returning to his second challenge, the Spirit Ariannin team has strong sponsors and has promised to bring a high-level skipper to reach the finals.

Team Nordland (Eisenport Royal Yatch Club, Lorenthia): If the Principality sets its royalty to captain a racing sailboat, why would not Lorenthia do it? King Andreas, ruler of the Nordic archipelago, does not sail. But his nephew Claus does it perfectly. And with the support of Nordland, the airline that sponsors all sports teams passing in front of it, this team can go far.

Northern Star (Clube Naval de Sendas, Lisander): The most daring of the teams, based entirely on the wealthy members of the Sendas Naval Club, decided to rekindle a historic rivalry between the northern and southern Lisander sailors. Using an old loophole in the old sailing laws, they are the official representatives of Lisander, while the Hermine Airlines team will compete defending the colours of Azhaar (the small archipelago on the coast of Lisander which is the historic seat of the Lisanderian monarchy, and by laws written in 1737, a "constituent country" of the Principality).

Returning after failing the Hellenians for a year to dedicate herself to the birth and the first months of her daughter Nicole, Pia St. Marie returned to play this season and was vital for the conquest of the blue and black team, which again wins the Metropolitan Championship after two years.

The most memorable performance of the year for the Hellenians probably happened in the youngest Women's Hockey derby, Hellenian vs. St. Helens, in the semi-final.

Pia St. Marie made a hattrick in an electrifying game with plenty of contact and some yellow cards, the two teams ended up tied 3-3 before the extra time, then 4-4 on the extra time and the decision came only in the shoot-out, when all Hellenians scored, while Luíza Brun and Mila Virnes, of the Helens, missed their shots.

Helens vs. Hellenians
St. Helens against Hellenian Hockey is an extremely fierce rivalry in Lisander's hockey. The Helens (from St. Helen's Club) wear white and black stripes. But in 1999 the club decided to close the department of Women's Hockey, then seventeen times metropolitan champion. Disgruntled, some female players founded their own team, the Hellenian Hockey Club. The Hellenians, to differentiate, wear black, "mourning for the team they lost", and blue, in honor of the first uniform of the national lisander team, which was blue (or at least this is the official story).

The St. Helens team returned to the field four years later on the occasion of the centenary of the club, but in the meantime the women's team of the Hellenians had already established themselves as a strong team and had even won the metropolitan championship once, which in the last 20 years occurred six more times, including the last edition.

Prologue:
A group chat on meepchat, the biggest online messenger in Imperan League.
@Lisko
Teams that can be formed anytime in Lisander:
Casterwill CC (They don't have a ODI/T20 Nickname) - Countess can support the development. A small oval is possible
Soria CC (The Roses) - Soria CC have a proper Oval, even if small.
Linville CC (The Lions) - They have a field that can be turned into an oval too. They just need money to keep the contracts.

@Lousy31
Teams that can be formed anytime in Alice Bay:
Alice Bay CC (The Nationals) - Probably the only full time team. Bay City oval ready to play.
Newport CC (The Dragons) - Investment funds may support the team. Park Oval only deserves a little reform.
Southport CC (The Mariners) - Southport is a cricket-loving city. The City government would completely support it, as well as Southport Oval reform.

@Lisko
So, we have six teams. We could start with that, but I'd prefer at least two more to start planning the league
Also, I believe the focus must be AB
More players, better ovals. Let's consider the ovals. Swanlakes have a good oval. Cap Navarre's La Sang Stadium Oval is the newest and best in nation

@DeclanHill
If a company could join and support Cap Navarre (The Reds), it would be great

@TheRealPorteous
These six would be great for a start.
IMO, just Alicean teams should be considered from now on. We must avoid Despina Cricket again.

@DeclanHill
Agree. They had nothing more than one roster. We should enforce Club ties and Academy rules.

@Lisko
Now, talking about money.
We can settle with this being a paid league, and the LCB Contracts will be finished. Once we manage the control of the Board, we'll divert the funds for the league.
Not being harsh, but it's obvious we won't keep that long-term contracts if we want to invest in the league.
Also, forget about the test-only team.
We still have the Ministry for Sports support if we plan a coherent season, and maybe for the future, we can try it again.
We need to do something to gather attention.

@TheRealPorteous
I'm okay with this. LCB income is my "Occasional savings"

@Hery_90
In fact, I don't even worry about this money. This isn't my first income. You know I'm a policeman. I always used it to buy cricket apparel and beer.

@Lisko
What a bunch of pros we have :D

@SCC_1881
Count on us. I'm 99% sure that SCC joins. At least if we're having Clubs and not Franchises. #prez

@TheRealPorteous
Edellion confirmed me they're interested to join. They invested the CLT20 in the team. If Cape Navarre is joining too, we'll have a 8-team league

@Lisko
Sounds great.
Soria
Casterwill
Linville

Bay City (ABCC)
Southport
Newport
Cap Navarre
Edellion
Mr. Horner (@SCC_1881) would you please get in contact with other clubs? Maybe some expansion interest or possible replacements?

@SCC_1881
I'll have some contacts, but nothing oficially. Most of the Lisanderian Clubs would try to expand to Cricket from Rugby. I'd hate those moneygrubbers.
If it were not for the establishment of the Linville Commune, I would probably have to oppose LACC entry on behalf of the SCC
after all they were members of our team until a few years ago.
#prez

@Lisko
Well, I believe it's very difficult to manage the oldest cricket club in Lisander, with a lot of pride and interests involved. Ass all of you know, before turning Manager, I had my time batting for the Roses.

@DeclanHill
I saw @Lisko playing in Bay City Oval. 2003 ODI. Now, just asking, Why Lisko? Why don't you use your proper name, Mr. Andreas Lisen Korman?

@Lisko
Lisko is a old family nickname. Our grandma was called Lisen. When I was a kid, I didn't like the name because it looked female.
So in every place I had to write my name in school, like in tests, I always signed like Andreas Lisko.
When you retire and come to visit your old parents, old nicknames return.
And now I'm Lisko permanently.

@TheRealPorteous
Boring. Back to cricket and governance stuff. Have you presented your candidature, Korman? Nothing of this will happen if you forget it.

@Lisko
Already sent to the LCB.

Cricket

Andreas Lisen-Korman is the new president of LCB!

Former Soria Cricket Club all-rounder Andreas Lisen-Korman won the presidential election of the Lisander and Alice Bay Cricket Board, where he was the only candidate. Korman, supported by most of the member clubs and extremely popular among the affiliated members because of his playing time, had 100% of the valid votes in a poll that beat a record of abstentions: 43% of members, only 7% below the minimum quorum necessary to validate the lawsuit.

The new president has two major missions ahead: Restoring interest in Lisander sports after many decades, and making the game become financially sustainable in both nations. Korman, who also an investment mogul, has said that he has no problem in putting money from his own pocket in the national sport. "I applied for an election that nobody wanted to win. I really want to do my best here. If I had not been taken by my uncle, Alan Korman, to watch a Cricket game at Soria Park, I would never have lived the life I lived to this day, and would not have known the people who helped me make my money. I want to thank Cricket for all he allowed me to conquer and all the doors that opened me." he said, in his first interview as new LCB president.

Lisen-Korman promises to turn the Cricket of the two nations into a lucrative sport, but without departing from the origins. Among promises to his management are establishing three new competitions (see below), and regularizing the situation of the union before GCF, to participate in all international tournaments during the five years provided for his mandate.

THE LISEN-KORMAN THREE COMPETITIONS:

1. First Class Cricket with Lisander, Alice Bay and Ariannin:
The new president has money to spend, but he knows he can not afford it all by himself, so he goes straight to the safest source, the cricket-loving bankers of Ariannin, the safest tax haven of Imperan League, and another country with Britannian-Lisanderian roots. Lisen-Korman had already stated that he had the desire to bring the rich clubs of Ariannin to the LCB competitions, albeit only as associates. Bringing one or two Ariannin clubs (Probably the Ariannin Cricket Club and the Port Elizabeth Cricket Club) to the First-Class championship, in addition to being a source of money for the LCB, is also a heater for the rivalry among the nations.

2. A new T20 League, club-based:
Andreas Lisen-Korman was one of the biggest critics of ProHit and its franchise system. He said that the format was too commercial: "Lots of money for players and advertising, no money for structure and future, it's canned cricket, it will not last five seasons." If it was a plague he launched, we do not know, but we know ProHit did not even have a second season. Lisen-Korman has been in contact with the clubs since the time before his election, and should probably also be in contact with sponsors, mediating possible contracts to enable professional teams. We know that the problems will not end in a snap and that Lisander's Cricket will not turn power overnight, but we want to believe that with the right phone calls to the right people, Lisander is able to field a capable T20 of rivalling against teams from strong nations like Darmen, Damukuni and Apox, without going money-palooza.

2. A short-form league, to gather public attention:
The Ever-Ever Concern Since the Emergence of Television: How do people understand the game the fast way the media asks? There are a few possibilities here when it comes to short forms of Cricket. T10, 100-Ball cricket and Sixes are the most practical. The latter also makes a lot of success in the Soria, for its connections with Rugby. Another doubt that was left is: Who will compete in this championship? Usually, short sports tournaments (such as Rugby Sevens ones), take advantage of the brevity of the competition to encompass a large number of teams. Can we have a tournament with 60, 70 or even 80 teams, from weekend teams to capped pros?

Arena Football

The story of Arena Football in Lisander so far: Looks like it's finally gonna happen

In other countries, Arena Leagues are usually for two groups of players: First, the group who played in college but didn't get a place in full-size professional leagues. And second, full-size professional league veterans who are either laid off by the teams or are about to retire.

In Lisander, the story is being kind of different. Football is not a very popular sport in the country. There are many youth groups, influenced by foreign TV, playing the sport on beaches, and small beach football championships are common, especially in summer. However, the massive popularity of rugby and football drives most people away from the brown ball game, which is considered by some to be an "overprotected rugby league". The average number of people interested in sports at home is estimated at between 400,000 and 500,000, approximately 3.3% of the population, and this number is a clear increase to the previous result, of approximately 1.2%, eight years ago.

In recent years, the National Academic League has conducted experiments, creating university teams. The result was even satisfactory, and national teams formed by college and former college students representing Lisander in various editions of the World Bowl and Arena Bowl, under the seal of the AFPA (American Football Players Association), founded by these same players. However, the project was discontinued due to low attendance, and constant complaints about "damage to the lawn" of public parks and rented fields for sports ended up weakening the country's sports scene. The high costs of a full-pad league are another factor that keeps the game on the beach, but AFPA found Arena Football a practical and cheaper solution. The team that played and was champion of the last Arena Bowl was formed by the founders of AFPA. Some of them are still active.

Image
In fact, they started to pave the road. But the money to keep paving was scarce, and now the road is near fully closed.

However, the necessary financial investment for the start of the League was lacking, and it came from Leighton Mills and Otis Hamilton. The investor brothers and founders of Ultrabet, one of the most famous and profitable internet betting services in the nation already had a connection with Gridiron (they tried, unsuccessfully, to start a team at prestigious Trinity College), decided to buy the idea of the National Arena League from AFPA and make it a league made up of franchises to be bought by people, companies or associations at reasonably low prices.

Ultra Sports entered the initial investment and agreed to take 50% of the league, leaving the other half to the clubs in exchange for exclusive rights and preference in contracts: As agreed, Ultra Sports may, for example, veto competing sponsorships. in teams; It will take precedence in receiving its share of league income before the franchises; You will be able to define which games will be broadcast on pay TV and the internet, as well as being the official merchandising licensor for all teams.

BREAKING NEWS: Alfred Delmas presents his resign of FLF presidency

Lisander football supporters were anxious for the start of the World Cup. But their hopes were crushed this afternoon when Lisander hasn't appeared in the signups list before the draw. Hundreds of e-mails, social media messages and phone calls to FLF (Lisander Football Federation) were not responded. People were angry and disappointed until the official announcement of Mr. Alfred Delmas, FLF president:

"Ladies and Gentlemen, we will miss the 83rd World Cup, and I heavily apologize for it.

Our signup was ready, double-checked and had copies sent to each major media vehicle of Imperan League. But a problem in our e-mail system made the copy destined to World Cup Committee return. One of our interns, who kept control of the system, forgot to double-check the sending to the WCC. This employee was fired as soon as we, as well as you, heard about it on TV. This is an unforgivable failure that will cause damage to the federation, our athletes, our sponsors and our fans. No plausible justification, it was a joint failure of the entire Federation that was unable to confirm a simple message.

I therefore come before you to announce that I am delivering my resignation. I am extremely ashamed and shaken by what has happened, I admit that I am not in a position to answer this more properly than you have heard.

Once again, I apologize.

Thank you and good night."

People keep angry and disappointed, and the FLF Board has called an emergency meeting tonight to find a way to remedy the lost season.

Season 2

Once again, Winterburg teams dominated the competition. This time the championship winners were RRC Winterburg, who dominated the competition throughout the season, although closely followed by HC Graafseport's golden girls. Aquila San Giovanni and HC Winterburger '97 complete the four places for the Champions League.

Forward Pauline Groen (HC Graafseport) was the top scorer of the competition, scoring 21 goals out of 60 that the team has managed over 22 games. Midfielder Laura Seidl (RRC Winterburg) was named best player of the season.

Association Football - Preseason
Little from the clubs, much from the league. The season 6 of Premiership starts with lots of news for the future!

With Racing Club de Soria returning to the top flight, Premiership has all its "starred" clubs back. Sparta, from the city of Sirenia, double successive champions, now have 19 national titles, being just one of the second star. Racing remains second in the title history with 16. Despina's Virtus has 15 and Porto Gris's Shamrocks has 14.

Team level balance has been a constant concern. Thanks to a FLF "jurassic" regulation that prohibits foreigners from outside the Imperan League at the Lisander Championships, neither team can stand out from the others. The championship is very even, which makes even big clubs being threatened of relegation. The Premiership, the National League and the FLF have been discussing the flexibility of this rule to allow more foreigners in the clubs of the country, as well as to expand the leagues. "What we can do to modernize Lisander football, we are doing," Premiership CEO Gabriel Juillerat said in an interview.

For this and the coming seasons, Premiership and the National League have agreed a series of commitments, signed on the presentation of the new unified branding under one Sponsor, Tristarbank, the nation's largest private bank.

Image
New Premiership and National League Logos, based on Tristarbank new visual identity

These commitments include, but are not limited to:

  1. Expand Premiership to 16 teams in Season 7, and to 18 teams in Season 8:
    In seasons 6 and 7, only one team will be relegated to Nacional, and three teams will be promoted to Premiership.
  2. Expand National to 18 teams in Season 8:
    In season 6, only one team will be relegated to Nacional 2, and three teams will be promoted to Nacional. In season 7 there will be no relegation and 4 teams will be promoted from National 2.
  3. Admit and provide support to professional and semiprofessional teams at National 2.
  4. Keep developing and managing the system of licenses with the FLF, fulfilling Youth League and Female Football goals as set by the FLF
What is the FLF system of Licenses?
In the last year, every team in Premiership had to join the new system of licenses. For this year, the licensing is mandatory for all teams in Liga Nacional, as well as Racing Club de Soria and Soria Union, that played in the Liga Nacional for the last season but were promoted back to Premiership (Racing after 1 season, Union after 39). For the next season, it should be applied to Teams in Liga Nacional 2 too. There are lots of points of interest, but between them, the rules related to female and youth football are the most discussed.

The items 2.1, 2.2 and 2.3 of the new licensing criteria demands "that each and every team must establish, before the first day of the following season, a female team under the same system of the male one (Is also possible to merge with, buy or absorb a existent team); must establish, before the first day of the second following season, a female academy; and must provide them with suitable infrastructure to the game of women's football."

The item 3.3 of the same document demands "that each and every team must match, before the first day of the following season, their Academies to the international age standards applying to NSWC and UICA member nations, that is, in categories U211, U18 and U15, provided they have athletes under these categories,"

For this season: Racing Club de Soria and CF Thiéry sur-le-mer are the only Premiership teams that haven't yet presented their female teams, CF Thiéry must do it before the first matchday, or will be penalized with WO result in male football. Racing Soria still have one season to prepare its team. Soria Union was the first to start the female team, even before being able to join the Premiership.

FLF plans are to start at least two competitions: A U-21 league with teams from the three professional divisions and a proper Youth League to feed the UICA Youth Cup properly.

During the preseason, the country stopped to follow Lisander's path towards the 82nd World Cup, so local football didn't get much public interest. There were no major changes to the rosters, and everything was pretty much the same as it was at the end of the previous league. Defender Andreas Wagner, the national idol, retired, leaving goalkeeper Anders Michaelichen with the gigantic duty of sporting the armband in the defending champion and also in the national team. The only prominent transfers took place between the two main teams in the capital. Brothers Nicolas and Tristan Walker left Racing and joined rival, newly promoted and newly enriched Soria Union. Soria Union has hired the most, bringing in seven players, to make a squad that can stay in the top flight for next season.

Two teams have professionalized to join National League 2: Stade Lernaise and Alba FC.

Association Football - International Season

Lisander showed that still needs to improve a lot in the organization. The disastrous management that left the country out of the last World Cup also made the road to clubs very difficult.

The Champions Cup
Second Preliminary Round
Premiership Champions Club Sparta had trouble traveling to Baker Park for the Second Preliminary Round, where they faced St. Warren City and lost 2-1. In the home match the 1-1 result was not enough, Sparta was eliminated, and went to the Globe Cup.

Globe Cup
Second Preliminary Round
In the second preliminary round of the Globe Cup, the results looked promising for Liath. A win against Ararat of Mytanija in Porto Gris gave the hibernians the courage needed, but the away defeat finished the team's dreams. CF Thiéry had more luck. Playing Olympia, then 5th in Eastfield Lodge's ICEL Premier League, they won 2-0 at home, and with a goal at 83' in the away match, they made it to the next round. Solaris Sirenia were another of the teams that made it through the first round with a 2-0 home win (or better at the Sparta Stadium, on loan), and a 2-2 away draw against Apox FC Endeavor.

(LIS) Liath Cuain CP 5–6 Ararat (MYT) 3–2 2–4
(LIS) CF Thiéry-sur-le-Mer a 3–3 Olympia FC (EFL) 2–0 1–3
(LIS) Solaris Sirenia 4–2 FC Endeavour (APX) 2–0 2–2

Third Preliminary Round
In the Globe Cup Third Preliminary Round, once again, the lisanderian hopes got in the way. Club Sparta drew 1-1 draw against Cassandra City in Cosumar. But lacking Tássio Camden, lost 2-1 at home. Another sad setback for the other team of Sirenia. Solaris beat Dinamo Bender 3-2 at Trans-Dniesters but failed to repeat the good result, losing 2-0 at Sparta Stadium. The crowd said playing at their biggest rival's stadium was unlucky, and demanded the immediate reopening of Communale Stadium, which was then closed for renovations. The heaviest defeat was CF Thiéry. Against Farfadilis's Dí Maozöxê were two major defeats, 0-3 and 1-3.

(COS) Cassandra City 3–2 Club Sparta (LIS) 1–1 2–1
(PDN) Dinamo Bender 4–3 Solaris Sirenia (LIS) 2–3 2–0
(FFD) Dí Maozöxê 6–1 CF Thiéry-sur-le-Mer (LIS) 3–0 3–1

Series B Champions Cup
Second Preliminary Round
Soria Union, the new national football fever after two consecutive promotions, started the season with two convincing wins against Valanoran side Kareen FC, both by 2-1.

(LIS) Soria Union 4–2 Kareen FC (VAL) 2–1 2–1

Series B Champions Cup, Third Preliminary Round
In the next round, however, Union failed to repeat the good results, losing twice to Turoki United de Vilita, both by 1-0.

(VIL) Turoki United 2–0 Soria Union (LIS) 1–0 1–0

Series B Champions Cup, Play-off Round
Given a direct bye to Play-off Round, Racing won the first match of the season in front of their fans in the reunion after the second division national title. However, visiting Oberour Ar Moro, the Confessor showed his power and turned the score in his favor, ending the campaign of Lisander's teams in UICA competitions one step from the group stage.

(OAM) Confessor 2–1 Racing Club de Soria (LIS) 0–1 2–0
