The Royal Shackleyan Navy seeks to rebuild following the tragic losses of the Great Survival War. Recent inquiries have shown that the Main Fleet is severely limited in force-projection capability due to a lack of capable ships.
In this programme we hope to establish ties with new, competent contractors capable of exceeding and sustaining our requirements for years to come.
The Lord Protector's government is willing to set aside up to 40 billion Shackley Shillings (Image40,000,000,000) for the construction of a new fleet according to the following specifications:

-Full CATOBAR capability
-Exterior hull, flight deck and bridge superstructure immune to 30mm cannonfire / ~100mm RHA equivalent
-Nuclear fission Pressurised Water Reactor powerplant, Steam turbine propulsion
-Maximum speed no less than 30 knots
-No less than 4 Goalkeeper CIWS installations
-Fully equipped to deal with Nuclear/Biological/Chemical emergencies
-Full electronic countermeasure suites
-Long-, medium- and short-range RADAR suites
-Fully operational in all extreme weather conditions

-Displacement of no less than 25,000 long tons
-Capable of carrying no less than 3 medium rotary-wing aircraft or 2 Harrier jump-jets
-Armed with 1 twin-8" gun turret compatible with 203mm AGGMER™ weapons system
-Sea Viper Air Defence system with no less than 96 vertical-launch surface-to-air missiles

-No less than 8 guided anti-submarine rockets
-Fully equipped to deal with Nuclear/Biological/Chemical emergencies
-Maximum speed no less than 30 knots
-Completely immune to small arms fire up to 12.7x99mm / ~30mm RHA equivalent
-Nuclear fission Pressurised Water Reactor powerplant, Steam turbine propulsion
-Fully operational in all extreme weather conditions
-Full electronic countermeasure suites
-Long-, medium- and short-range RADAR suites

*With the following modifications for Shackleyan service:
-Phalanx CIWS installations replaced with Goalkeeper CIWS installations

-Capable of carrying 2 medium rotary-wing aircraft or 1 Harrier jump-jet
-4.5" gun modified for use with 114mm AGGMER™ weapons system

Above contracts may be delivered by one or multiple separate contractors. Facilities for construction will be provided. Workers will be accommodated. Payment to be delivered upon completion.
The Imperial Fiefdom thanks you for your time.

TO: Royal Shackleyan Navy, Office for Equipment Procurement (or equivalent).

Return Adress: Misstress Nora Cathlong of the Tribe of Cork, Oifig House, Board of Directors, Silverport.
Sunday, 11th of Novembre, 2018.

Dear Sirs and/or Ma'ams,
to introduce myself, I am Nora Cathlong of the Tribe of Cork, CEO of Silverport Dockyards Limited, a shipbuilding company from the Free Lands of the Selkie. News of your Rearmament Programme have reached the Free Lands and my humble shipbuilding company. We wish to work with you for mutual benefit.
While you can, of course, always browse our extensive Catalogue, I want to mention onto you a vessel, which we believe would be perfectly suited for your Heavy Guided Missile Cruiser Programme: The Maighdean-class Missile Cruiser.
While I am aware, that the proposal does not fulfill some of your requirements, I firmly believe, that the Maighdean-class Missile Cruiser would allow you to achieve more with a smaller vessel then you had planned. We could also use the Pompey-class Modifications, which would replace the standard 135mm gun with an eight inch gun, which should be compatible with AGGMER (we would have to test it).
If wished, representatives of the Royal Shackleyan Navy can inspect one of these magnificent vessels for themselves, if they were to travel to the Free Lands.

I hope for a quick reply and I remain respectfully yours,
Nora Cathlong of the Tribe of Cork
Representing the Board of Directors of Silverport Dockyards Ltd..
I play PT, MT and a bit FT. I am into character-RPs.
My people are called the Selkie, the nation is usually called the Free Lands in MT-settings. Thanks.

Dear Ma'am,
We thank you for your interest in our programme. Bringing the sword and shield of Shackley back to working order is considered top priority by my government and so the rapid cooperation of your organisation has not gone unnoticed.
However I regret to inform you that as of this moment we cannot accept the Maighdean-class design as proposed by yourself. While most certainly impressive it is understood that this vessel is lacking in some key areas and would not be suitable in its current configuration for Shackleyan service. The specifications imposed by this programme are there to ensure that the new generation of warships meshes perfectly with our military doctrine. As such we place an emphasis on surface-to-air and CIWS firepower, as well as armour protection and the ability to house thrust-vectoring VTOL aircraft above concerns of mobility and versatility.
I am most impressed by the extensive electronic sensor suites, powerplant and versatile array of weapons systems demonstrated by the Maighdean-class but I hold the impression that this vessel is simply not large enough for our purposes.
Nevertheless we are interested in what your organisation has to offer and what more you can do for this programme. With your permission I will be happy to send a team of investigators to evaluate the vessel as you mentioned.

Thank you for your time,
With Dignity and Persistence
Rear-Admiral Jensen

Dear Rear-Admiral Jensen,
we understand the concerns about the future cruisers of the Royal Navy and how they blend in with the rest of the fleet and the doctrine it follows.
Nevertheless, I will gladly welcome a delegation of the Royal Navy in Silverport, both to evaluate the Maighdean-class Missile Cruiser and other vessels we have on offer.

I remain respectfully yours,
Nora Cathlong of the Tribe of Cork

P.S.: Said invitation would also include an invitation for dinner, of course.

Imperial Navy - Protecting our waters

From: Rear Admiral Kenneth Harrington, Imperial Navy
To: Rear-Admiral Jensen, Supply & Requisition Corps, Royal Shackleyan Navy
Subject: Guided Missile Cruiser

To the good Admiral Jensen.

The Imperial Vionna-Frankenlischian Navy has had word of your naval rearmament reach our ears, the good lords which we serve have, indeed, taken to consider your nation's plight for vessels. We would like not to offer our own solution, but to promote that of another supplier. Silverport Dockyards Limited is a Selkie shipbuilding company which has done the Imperial Navy a great service by contributing to the Emperor Project. The Emperor Project is a scheme to provide the Imperial Navy with completely modern vessels, sadly the project is in decline, but Silverport Dockyards Ltd provided the Imperial Navy with a Heavy Missile Cruiser. The Pompey-class (named after the Ceasian Emperor, Pompey the Fortifier) is a Missile Cruiser based on the Selkie Maighdean-class but armed with a twin gun turret containing a pair of 8-inch long-range guns. Further trials are currently underway in Vionna-Frankenlisch to provide the vessel with thicker armour.

We would like to promote this Selkie design for the Royal Shackleyan Navy and the good Lords of the Admiralty give their solemn word that the Pompey-class will not disappoint.

Rear Admiral Kenneth Harrington. Officer Commanding, First Coastal Squadron.

Dear sir,
I am most grateful for your interest in our programme. It may surprise you to know that I have already been contacted by a representative of Silverport Dockyards Ltd. and as we speak a delegation from the Supply & Requisition Corps is in the process of evaluating their proposal for the Guided Missile Destroyer specifications. Specifically they have presented the Maighdean-class of missile cruisers as a potential candidate, which as you said so yourself is a variant of your Pompey-class. While these ships certainly seem formidable I am still uncertain as to whether they can fully satisfy the needs of the Royal Shackleyan Navy. Your mention of twin 8-inch guns and improvements to armour protection are of considerable interest and the fact that this information is not only news to me but also contradicts the Silverport Dockyards' catalogue only intrigues me further.

If you would be so kind I should like to receive some more details of your modifications to the Pompey-class. Perhaps it may also be possible to take a look at some examples up close? I know of a few engineers and tacticians who would be more than happy to take a tour of your facilities.
I cannot grant any promises at this time but if this new variant can meet our specifications you will be at the top of our list of prospective contractors.
Many thanks and salutations,
With Dignity and Persistence
Rear-Admiral Jensen

Imperial Navy - Protecting our waters

From: Rear Admiral Kenneth Harrington, Imperial Navy
To: Rear-Admiral Jensen, Supply & Requisition Corps, Royal Shackleyan Navy
Subject: Pompey-class Cruiser

To the good Admiral Jensen.

I was most glad to hear your response and quite interested to discover that our Selkie friends have already contacted you concerning the Maighdean-class. The Maighdean-class is a Selkie Missile Cruiser developed, I believe, at the turn of the century and, as part of the Imperial Navy's Emperor Project, Silverport Dockyards was contracted to provide Vionna-Frankenlisch with a Missile Cruiser. After brief deliberations we soon agreed to purchase six somewhat modernised Maighdean-class Missile Cruisers. Following their delivery and trials with the Imperial Navy, the Admiralty Design Board decided to make several refits to the six Selkie vessels and make more major design changes to future domestically-constructed Pompey-class Cruisers.

Under the official designation of Pompey-class Heavy Cruiser (sometimes extended to Heavy Missile Cruiser), the first domestic Pompey-class was finished several weeks ago. Changes to the Maighdean-class include 4-inch belt armour, expanded magazines and a bow turret mounting three 8-inch guns. This vessel has been named HMNS Selkie in honour of the home nation of her class and I have the esteemed honour to report that she is soon to be where I, as commander of the First Coastal Squadron, will fly my flag. Therefore, it would give me great happiness to invite you to survey her.

I am sad to say that It is unusual for Imperial Navy vessels to be constructed under contract but I'm sure that, provided we negotiate generously with Silverport Dockyards, we will be able to come to some form of agreement.

Rear Admiral Kenneth Harrington. Officer Commanding, First Coastal Squadron.

I'd like to apologise to Selkie if I am mistaken, as I very well may be, but I assume that domestic production rights were included in the prototype scheme. If I am mistaken then I'd be most glad to edit this.

Dear sir and ma'am,

Considering information recently brought to my attention by my good friend in the Imperial Navy I suggest an international summit where we may discuss future proceedings regarding the Maighdean- and Pompey-class warships. I believe there is indeed much for us to deliberate if we are to proceed further with these designs.
While the Pompey-class as described by my aforementioned friend does interest me greatly I feel the details and specifications must be ironed-out by all parties involved, especially as it bears origins in Silverport Dockyards Ltd.

With that said I hope we can continue amicably and profitably and I look forward to hearing the news from my surveyors on your designs.
Greatest respects,
With Dignity and Persistence

Royal Shackleyan Navy Rearmament Programme 2018 - Update

Following much deliberation the Royal Shackleyan Navy's Corps of Supply & Requisition have collectively decided to look to native Shackleyan contractors to produce what will be known as the Rimmer-class of supercarriers. It is believed that this will not only help expediate the development process but also provide a healthy financial injection to local industry. As such we are no longer seeking contractors to fulfil the specifications for the 2 Capital Ships fitting the Supercarrier description.

Equally, thanks to some lucrative deals with fellow members of the Empire of Great Britain, we have been able to secure the means to convert the necessary Type 45 destroyers to Dalton-class warships befitting Shackleyan service. As such we are no longer seeking contractors to fulfil the specifications for the 18 Type 45 Daring Class Guided Missile Destroyers.

However due to ongoing negotiations with representatives from Silverport Dockyards Limited and the Imperial Navy of Vionna-Frankenlisch over the suitability of certain missile cruiser designs the business regarding the specifications for 8 Capital Ships fitting the Heavy Guided Missile Cruiser description remains inconclusive. Any further contractors who wish to discuss their participation in fulfilling said specifications are welcome to contact Rear-Admiral Jensen of the Supply & Requisition Corps of the Royal Shackleyan Navy.

Due to the early fulfilment of two of the required specification orders the remaining budget for this programme has been reduced to 16 billion Shackley Shillings (Image16,000,000,000). We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.

With Dignity and Persistence

Dear Rear-Admiral Jensen,
please excuse the delay of this reply to your letter from the 25th of Novembre. We had a few discussions and conversations, which needed to be taken care of before we can continue.
In the light of the recent updates to the Royal Shackleyan Navy Rearmament Programme of 2018, we would still be both willing and capable of fulfilling your missile cruiser need with the Maighdean-class Missile Cruiser.
Yard 15, the Office for Prototype Development, also assured me, that they can make quite a few modifications to the design enabling it to fit better into the plans laid out by the original offer (that would include the 8-inch gun turrets, although I am sad to say, that you would have to provide the turrets, we do the rest).
I still look forward to welcoming a delegation and having them for dinner aboard my own vessel, the yacht Cineál.

Dear Ma'am,
If I weren't used to a few small delays here and there I wouldn't've stayed in the service! Rest assured it has not been a problem.
I hope the message from my superiors didn't come off as too dismissive of our business here, I'm sure you understand the importance of keeping one's options open when it comes to matters such as these.

In any case I'm glad to inform you that the delegation has been despatched and have reported their successful arrival at a modest hotel in Silverport. I'm sure they'll be more than happy to dine aboard your yacht and by all accounts are enjoying their stay and looking forward to a tour of your facility.
With regards to your proposal of a modified design I can assure you that the shipwrights in Shackley are very capable and the engineers on staff in my humble corps should have no trouble manufacturing turrets to fit our needs provided you can give us the necessary details and dimensions.

I look forward to future developments,
With Dignity and Persistence
