Veiser Crown: Aristocrat Simulator [RP APPS]

Postby Veise » Sun Nov 18, 2018 10:09 am

Veiser Crown
Aristocrat Simulator------

Map with Claimed Feudal Realms
(Size comparison to PRC available. Prairie of Miracle River is Crown lands, so no claims higher than count rank allowed.)

Current RP

Code: Select all
Writing Prompt: It's summer! What's going on in your realm to kick off the new season?

(These RPs are always optional!)

Welcome to Veiser Crown, a highly aesthetic aristocrat simulator! Play as an aristocrat and/or a family of them, and do aristocrat things. Attend balls, galas, feasts, and parties. Create and manage a noble's territory. Argue about land! Sulk about the monarchy. Put your peasants to work, or don't. All under a crown so obsessed with prestige that they become the dictionary definition of prose, platinum, and posh!

This RP group is mainly steampunk in nature, with the presence of heavy FanT and some supernatural phenomenon (floating islands, anomalous crystals, etc. pretty mild), combined with a lighter version of feudalism under the all-powerful enlightened-absolutist royal House of Crestet that rules one of the wealthiest, most prosperous realms. So, it's like Forum 7 AL/AN threads, character-based RP, and a miniature version of nation RP (since it's semi-feudal realms) all in one. The feudalism is essentially a noble gubernatorial system in which the monarchy is over the entire nation and has directly ran crown-lands, but some territories are governed by subservient nobles in the way that modern republics have layers from the President/Prime Minister down to the mayors. Airships dot the skies, and lightly-armored riflemen is the nation's fist. You can RP with other IC families as you like, essentially freely. Joining the region is optional (you could always make a puppet account of your noble realm), but would be appreciated. We are rather active on Discord, so it is preferred that you have and use Discord to participate.

Feudal Rank
From highest to lowest rank.

  • Duke/Duchess - Rules a duchy, or basically a state. Equivalent to a governor.
  • Marquis/Marquise - A militaristic rank. Rules multiple counties on along the nation's borders and performs defensive duties. Allowed to maintain a small border-guarding force similar to US National Guard.
  • Count/Countess - Rules a county, in which multiple cities may be held.
  • Baron/Baroness - Rules a large city. Equivalent to the mayor of, well, a large city.
  • Baronet/Baronetess- Rules either a small city, or a Baron's district.

For more information, see Wikipedia's page on feudal rank. Veise doesn't copy proper European feudalism entirely, though, so remember that. If you would like special ranks or whatnot, take it up with me on TGs.

Copy and paste the character section for as many played characters in the family as there are. Background characters won't need their own section, however. If you want to be the lesser noble to someone else's higher noble, ask them about it before applying (they can give you the names of territories under their rule or allow you to name it yourself). If a lesser noble is somewhere where there isn't a higher noble, ask if you want to move in. Also, no dukes in crown lands.

Family
Family Rank: Ducal
Location: A small, windy realm near three rivers. The landscape of the Grand Duchy is dotted with mountains, a dense forest in Schfruß, and one river, around which most of the cities and villages are built. It is connected to open waters on the western coasts, which are often the warmest.
Name of Realms (Full):
The Duchy of Berun
The Duchy of Harlow
The Principality of Mittelhalt
The County of Edlerburg
The County of Schfruß

Dynasty: The House of Berun

Assuming that Airships dot the skies, I'm assuming this is 1860s-ish so here goes:
Character
Rank: Duke
Name (Full): Arnold Hans Gottfrid von Berun
Gender: Male
Age: Born 1812, assume "in his 60s"
Appearance: Average Height (170cm, 5'7), Slim, somewhat pale and sickly in appearance. Has gray and somewhat balding hair, and pale green eyes.
Bio:
Born in 1812 to Bernard I's third son (Hermann), Arnold did not reach the direct line of succession until the death of Bernard's granddaughter Joan. His claim for the throne was contested by Alfons of Edlerburg, another minor member of the House of Berun who prefered to give preference to the minor County, rather than the Duchy of Berun. Alfons later died of a mysterious sickness in 1857, and Arnold became the new Duke. His reign has, so far, been an absolute, where he's busier crushing liberals and revolutionaries than ruling his realm at all.

Character
Rank: Baron
Name (Full): Otto Arnold von Berun
Gender: Male
Age: Born in 1845, assume "in his 20s"
Appearance: Tall (183cm, 6'), Athletic build, often stands straight and tall. Pale green eyes, and short brown hair.
Bio:
Otto is the first, and only, son of Arnold, and (unless something happens), his heir apparent. Born in the final years of the reign of his cousin Anna, he spend most of his life hunting, leading a band of mercenaries, and funding and supporting military research in the Realm of Berun. He was only made the heir apparent in 1857, which was when he returned to a noble's life, married, and worked on making a family.

(Less often)
Character
Rank: Baroness
Name (Full): Mathilda Edelweiß Viktoria von Schween-Berun
Gender: Female
Age: Born in 1847, so assume "in her 20s"
Appearance: Somewhat tall (180cm, 5'11), Brown eyes, somewhat long blonde hair. small button nose.
Bio:
Mathilda, generally called Hilda, was a minor member of the house of Schween, a minor noble family from Schfruß, and related to the house of Berun through her marriage to Otto, the heir to the throne. She is a patron of arts, though war and warfare both disgusts and bores her.

Here's the first app. If I've done this improperly, which I probably have, please say so.
Family
Family Rank: Comital
Location: Solieux, a temperate but mountainous region on the Kingdom's southern border that has grown rich from the trade routes that run through its passes. Known for its beautiful scenery, rustic towns, and ancient monuments and landmarks dedicated to empires that have come before, it is something of a popular vacation spot for the Veiser nobility in other parts of the Kingdom.
Name of Realms (Full):
The County of Solieux
City of Rivierstel
City of Rheirun
City Altreise
Dynasty: House Fon Solieux

Character
Rank: Baroness
Name (Full): Sabelle fon Solieux
Gender: Female
Age: 21
Appearance: Here.
Sabelle is 5 feet and 5 inches/1.65 meters tall, with pale white skin, shoulder-length red hair, and sharp red eyes.
Bio: Sabelle was born the fifth of seven children in the ruling branch of the Von Solieux family, and in her childhood rarely received the level of attention or affection that her elder brothers and younger sisters, usually being sidelined and passed over in favor of those more likely to inherit her father's title. Spurned and often simply never noticed due to how little she mattered where court politics or succession were concerned, Sabelle often turned to mischief and trickery outside of her courtly lessons in etiquette, manners, and poise, partly in an effort to be noticed and partly out of her own childish sense of fun. While she did grow up into a convincingly proper lady by the standards of the Court of Solieux after being forced to amend her childish ways, Sabelle never completely gave up her old habits, which neatly manifested themselves anew in her taste for court intrigue. While she knows she may never become Countess of her native land, she has found a breadth of new opportunities for an even higher place in the Kingdom in the shadows and whispers of the Royal Court.

Character
Rank: Marquis
Name (Full): Alban Mikhail Bahr
Gender: Male

Just a note, Lethen (Veise) has conferred Co-OP status upon me and given me the go-ahead to run app processing duties, so that's why you're seeing me do this and not him for the moment.

Denied. There are a number of problems with the app; the family rank isn't a rank, the dynasty isn't a dynasty, the location is supposed to be what realm the character is ruling (and only the OP rules from the capital given that they are playing the kingdom itself), the realm has no status or clarification beyond a name, and the character seems to be shaping up for power gaming and unwelcome shenanigans more than anything else.

Also, you not having Discord is a major problem, as most of our group's communication is taken up there rather than in OOC threads like this. It would be difficult for everyone involved to constantly have to catch a member up to speed who can't effectively communicate with the other players outside of this thread and with telegrams.

We don't have a map. Locations are generally somewhat ambiguous in this RP since it's mostly character based. Though, we'll be making a map of it soon.

We would be glad to have you, though.

Doesn't really matter. It's just to explain whether or not you're close or at the outskirts. Just give us a general idea of where your nation might be.

Also, wouldn't it be a little strange to have Indonesians laying around in a fantasy-European empire?

IC name is "Blauveldt-Ryszana".

A traumatized, but recovering, MT-Early PMT/FanT constitutional monarchy consisting of a personal and constitutional union of two Realms. Features: near-universal gun ownership, governmental dysfunction, terrified Christinaslander Air National Guard personnel counting down the days until they rotate back home, and an eternal standoff with the last of it's former oppressors.

Family
Family Rank: Marquis
Location: The March of Morisner is the larger of the main territories of House Holclair-Solorich and Dyecolt. It is a land along the Kingdom's western border. It is a land of many hills and some plains towards the centre of the March, formerly two counties, the County of Solorich and the County of Morisner, which unified under Johann Solorich in the early 14th Century after he married the Countess of Morisner, creating the March as he did so. The majority of the population lives in the city of Moris-Vassau, a city with canal structures and a close proximity to the hills that made up the border between Morisner and the lands outside of the Kingdom. Around the lands of Solorich Castle lie the smaller secondary city of Solorich, both richer and also the capital of the March.

As well as this is the County of Holclair. Initially a minor domain, but is now a territory acting as a panhandle to the North of the main part of Morisner. The County is made up of mostly forests and river systems, with Holclair Castle, an impressive medieval structure, remaining at the centre of the County. It is a much more traditional region, and retains a large number of hunting lodges which the rulers of the March tend to frequent when not busy with court or military business. Holclair managed to become part of the March when Count Erwin Holclair married the Marquess Theresa Solorich, reputably a willful woman who demanded that the dynasty be unified rather than allowing Solorich to simply disappear. This was a common practice at the time, so Erwin Holclair accepted, becoming the first Holclair-Solorich Marquis of Morisner.

Finally, the Baronetcy of Dyecolt was added to the domain of Morisner recently, yet again thanks to marriage. Dyecolt has always been a sparsely populated region, but high in agricultural value and sitting in a valley, borders snaking from the main March of Morisner in the South to the County of Holclair in the North. The land had always been prosperous but tiny, ruled by the Baronets von Dyecolt, a family very much down on their luck. It is only in this generation of rulers of Morisner that Dyecolt was added to the fold, as the Baronetess Lydia von Dyecolt, a young noblewoman, married Josef V Holclair-Solorich of Morisner.
Name of Realms (Full):
March of Morisner
County of Holclair
County of Morisner
County of Solorich
Baronetcy of Dyecolt
(Titles in italics are sometimes used in a list of titles, though are de facto constituent parts of the March of Morisner, so are not necessary to be listed)
Dynasty: House Holclair-Solorich and Dyecolt

Character
Rank: Marquis
Name (Full): Josef V Holclair-Solorich and Dyecolt
Gender: Male
Age: 84
Appearance: An older gentleman, greying hair and wrinkled skin. Tends to wear eyeglasses more often than not, circular, that bring out his eyes more than most, and carries a cane. Wears his old white and black military uniform with pride. Often hunched over, though can carry himself upright fairly well otherwise. He limps from an old war wound.
Bio:
Born to Josef IV Holclair-Solorich, Marquis of Morisner, and Ava Bruger, a minor noblewoman with no title, Josef V had always been an obedient child. He was given the best education his father could give him, and was given hunting lessons and riding lessons at a young age. As the son of a Marquis, he was always expected to be involved in the military, and as such, had to excel at what he was given to do. He became a cavalry commander at a fairly young age, riding with the Dragoons, mounted troops with melee weapons and firearms. While he served in the mainstream army, he was also expected to spend his rule looking after the border from the magnificent stone castle that acted as the capital of the realm, Solorich Castle.

When his father, Josef IV, died, the young cavalry commander became Josef V Holclair-Solorich, new Marquis of Morisner. As such, he left much of his military career in the capital, instead guarding the borders of the Kingdom. However, in a raid upon a border settlement, Josef V joined the defence, and gained a nasty shrapnel wound in his leg. Not allowing that to deter him, he still retained a very militaristic outlook. However, he settled down somewhat, marrying Baronetess Lydia von Dyecolt, largely for political reasons, to unify the two territories of the March, and settled down to have children. Now, he is a common sight amongst parties and in court circles, usually making the case for increased defence of the borders and spending for the military. Some say his fame and status make him somewhere close to the face of the military itself, and though Josef V blushes, he never puts these ideas to bed.

Character
Rank: Marquess/Baronetess
Name (Full): Lydia von Dyecolt (Lydia Holclair-Solorich and Dyecolt)
Gender: Female
Age: 77
Appearance: An older lady, though still very much proud and graceful in her own way, Lydia wears her grey hair with pride, though her face, while wrinkled, does have a certain youthful vitality to it not often seen. Lydia von Dyecolt has no need for fancy dresses, preferring plain dresses, often in the colours of the Dyecolt family itself.
Bio:
Lydia von Dyecolt was born to the Baronet Gunther von Dyecolt and Erna Schwartz. She had a very basic childhood, being taught most of her life skills from her parents and the church, and knowing almost everyone in her father's realm from a young age, the Baronetcy being a small one. She learnt many life skills that came in useful, such as bandaging wounds and gardening. When she was 11, her father died without a male heir. She became the head of the Baronetcy. She was betrothed to Josef V Holclair-Solorich in a political union - an attempt to appease the King's wish for cleaner borders by using the valley in which Dyecolt lies to link the Northern and Southern counties. She made no secret of the fact that she didn't particularly love Josef, but she would remain faithful regardless.

When Josef V came back from defending the border with shrapnel in his leg, she cleaned the wound, removed shrapnel and bandaged it fully. While she was sitting with Josef for many days, they began to talk more, and though they never went as far as being lovers, they certainly came to consider each other close friends. They agreed to try for children after that fact. Lydia was known to be caring towards her children, especially Isabella, who she assumed would never gain land or title of their own, and taught them all the skills she had learnt as a child. Even now, she is known as a champion of the people.

Character
Rank: Count (nominally)
Name (Full): Johan-Gustav Holclair-Solorich and Dyecolt
Gender: Male
Age: 48
Appearance: Tall and dashing, the epitome of the military figure, Johan is known for his prowess in battle with musket and with sabre. Brown haired and blue eyed, like his father was, and wearing an active military uniform, one which is constantly kept clean by him.
Bio:
Firstborn son of Josef V and Lydia, Johan-Gustav was given a martial education like that of his father. He excelled at his military studies, and though his father had long since given up on martial prowess of his own thanks to the injury he had sustained, he exceeded even what his father once had been, learning swordplay early and regularly accompanying his father or other courtiers on hunting trips to Holclair Castle. He is known to have been very close to his father. He fell in love with, and later married, Alina Dussler during his time in the military, and has had two children with her, both of whom are now adults.

Character
Rank: Count (nominally)
Name (Full): Hans-Christoph Holclair-Solorich and Dyecolt
Gender: Male
Age: 43
Appearance: A lean man, lighter brown hair than his elder brother, who is known more as a tinkerer than a fighter. Wears no kind of uniform, instead wearing a suit, which makes him look richer and more intelligent than his brother, as well as glasses.
Bio:
Second son of Josef V and Lydia, Hans-Christoph was likely never to become Marquis, and most of the court knew that. He was, as such, given an education more geared towards erudition and learning, teaching himself through books what his tutors could never teach him. He has not settled down with any woman, though rumours abound that he swings to the other side.

Character
Rank: Countess (nominally)
Name (Full): Isabella Holclair-Solorich and Dyecolt
Gender: Female
Age: 36
Appearance: A lady still appearing young and beautiful. She has lustrous brown hair and the same blue eyes of her father. She tends to wear white dresses, almost imitating the style of military dress worn by her father and elder brother.
Bio:
Final child of Josef V and Lydia, Isabella was never going to inherit anything as far as anyone could see. She was given a diplomatic upbringing, learning how to write letters eloquently and speak with a sharp tongue. She has never married, though does not resent the fact, as she is still able to somewhat seduce the other sex with her charm.

Character
Rank: Count (nominal)
Name (Full): Georg Holclair-Solorich and Dyecolt
Gender: Male
Age: 78
Appearance: Similar in appearance to Josef, though evidently much younger in spirit and physique. Appears, yet again, in military uniform, though with all the trimmings of a high-up officer.
Bio:
Secondborn Son of Josef IV and Ava Bruger, Georg has been at peace with the fact he would never inherit anything since his youth. However, he has still made his own way. Always a better fighter than his brother, he made it further in the military when Josef inherited the Marquis title, later becoming a general in the army, and holding his position with pride. He is a strategic man, and has won many engagements, large and small, for the Kingdom.

For further reference, the country has coasts on the north, west, and south. It does not, however have a coast on the east.

I imagine Veise being built similarly to the HRE in shape (except delete italy and the alps from existence). Berun is basically the Imperial Burgundy, Solieux County is basically in our Tyrol, and Prussia-Poland's upcoming app is like a flipped Alsace-Lorraine being grafted onto Silesia and Bohemia's eastern borders.

Of course, if I ever make a map for this, we won't steal the shape of the HRE totally, but that's probably how things are. I may try and go for total originality and scrap this idea wholesale. Thoughts?

I like total originality, but I do also like the idea of a vaguely reminiscent HRE-style map. If there aren't any borders to the West, though, I may have to go east, perhaps?

(This is Tasuirin's new puppet-nation, BTW.)

There will probably be western borders, just there's a significant coast too. Half and half-maybe. I'd prefer if further apps were not in coastal areas.

The Germanian Empire | "Unser Vaterland, Herrscher der Asche..."
Factbooks | Music | Tech Level: PT/FanT | Current Year: 1943 UE (1958 AD)

In a strange world not so different from ours, a young empire stands in the heart of Europa. Born and forged in the fires of war, it is headed by an embittered Kaiserin and a camarilla of aging, scheming generals. Stretched to a breaking point and groaning under the stress and hubris of its past victories, the Fatherland stands on guard. But on the forefront of a new world, fighting a new war from without and within, will it survive?

IC name is "Blauveldt-Ryszana".

A traumatized, but recovering, MT-Early PMT/FanT constitutional monarchy consisting of a personal and constitutional union of two Realms. Features: near-universal gun ownership, governmental dysfunction, terrified Christinaslander Air National Guard personnel counting down the days until they rotate back home, and an eternal standoff with the last of it's former oppressors.
