A different kind of Meta RP by Talchyon

"I wanted more from you than you even had. How does a man fall so hard and become
so blind.
Is it because of a darkness inside of you,
That somehow blinds me?
Now I swim in puddles of madness.
Never completely immersed,
But covered none the less."

- "Puddles of Madness" by Cordell Rich

"Welcome to Aurora Grove Psychiatric Institution. The patients of this hospital receive quality care for their mental health needs. Restoration of the mentally troubled individual to society is our number one goal. We value safety for all our patients. Treatments are fair, balanced, and always given for the patients' best interests. Our physicians integrate practiced therapy with state of the art technology to give our patients the best care possible. It's a challenge to care for those you love when they are not their usual self. Let us help."
- from the Aurora Grove Psychiatric Institution brochure.

What this RP is about:
You are one of the patients of Aurora Grove Psychiatric Institution, a mental health facility located on the outskirts of Denver, Colorado. You don't know how long you've been here. You may not even remember who brought you in the first place. But you are here for help. Or at least, so they say.

In reality, however, you have abilities beyond what is normal. You think these abilities are beyond what is normal. What's "normal" isn't always clear. The medicine you take regularly is supposed to help with that.

Here at Aurora Grove, you regularly take part in group therapy and individual therapy from trained psychiatrists. Those who do well in the therapy get rewarded by trips outdoors in the sunshine. Those who don't do well... well, let's just say that the doctors and nurses always strive for their patients to advance in their treatment.

Yet, there are some times when you have disturbing memories. Memories of another life, memories that are repressed but sometimes bubble to the surface. Memories of heroism. Self-sacrifice for the greater good. Battles. Sometimes tragic losses. It's all very unclear, and the doctors assure you these are just imaginary, and in due time you won't be troubled by these false memories. But they seem so real. As if they truly happened.

There are also memories of others. Mostly, other former patients. You were sure you remembered a certain other person in your therapy session. What was it, weeks ago? You've kind of lost track of time here. But even though you think you remember that person, now that person is gone. And the doctors are calmly reassuring you that it was all imaginary. That person wasn't real, as the psychiatrist peacefully explains. It's part of your condition that you only think that. But you're getting better. You're making daily progress. That's what the doctors say.

You can only hope they're right. Because, why would they lie to you?

RP Setting and Other Details
Hey guys! This is Talchyon. Thanks for checking out my RP. Hope you like it and want to join.

Ok, so this is a meta-story about super-powered people. But it's not your typical superhero story. Most superhero stories are about the good guys vs. the bad guys. The bad guys are doing something evil, and the good guys have to stop them. Whether it's a team or an individual, that's generally what it comes down to. Powers blast, and you get some pretty awesome fight scenes.

Delirium is going to be different.

  • First, the lines are really thin between who is the good guy and who is the bad guy. That's because your character probably knows only snippets of his or her backstory, with occasional flashbacks of their lives before coming to Aurora Grove.

  • Second, the powers your character has are muted. Right now the medication you are taking is hindering powers. They can still be used. But not to their fullest extent. A person who is super strong will still retain some of their strength - but maybe 10% at most. A fire generator can still make flames, but can't set himself on fire, and may only be able to make a flame the size of three cigarette lighters together. That's how things begin here, anyway.

  • Third, due to the medication and other treatments your character has been taking, conscious use of powers is out of control. That means, there can and will be times when your character's subconscious kicks in, operates the power, without your character realizing it. Or wanting it. It may happen when your character is asleep, or outside, or eating lunch. There will be times, however, when your character can consciously use his or her powers. I'll leave that up to you the player to decide how often and when.

  • Fourth, Delirium is more of a mystery RP than a superhero combat RP. What is this place? What's going on behind the scenes? Why are your characters here? And more importantly... can your character survive and get real help when everyone and everything is messing with your character's mind?

  • Fifth, That said, I do expect some fights to occur. What would a superhero RP be without them? But, consider that whenever fights happen (and they will), powers will be at about 10-15% of what your character would normally have. Also, the staff of Aurora Grove has a strict discipline policy for patients who get out of line. Just be warned.

  • Finally, You might consider powers for your characters that are not all combat oriented. Something tells me that in this RP, some of the standard powers you might normally see in a meta RP may not be as valuable. Be creative. Think outside the box. Certain powers may help you figure out the mystery better than others.

  • Rules:
The following RP rules are in place, namely...
    1. General RP rules apply. Keep it PG-13 at least. No gore, no sex, nothing like that. You know the drill.

    2. My word as OP is final. Pretty standard, really.

    3. No aliens, witches, vampires, the undead, that sort of thing. This is strictly human with superpowers.

    4. Your character does not have to have meta powers. It's preferred, but it's your character. And if you want to RP a normal joe, I'm ok with it. But patients only, please. The OP reserves the right to play all the staff of the Aurora Grove Psychiatric Institution.

    5. These powers are restricted and forbidden:
-Any kind of time warp or manipulation (with the exception of a person who can freeze someone in time for about five minutes normally.)
      -Any form of mind control.
      -Mind blocks and psionic shields.

    6. When you make an app, make powers as normal (with normal meta RP limitations and drawbacks). I as the OP (or any Co-OP if I have one) will come up with what the limitations on your powers are due to the medicines and treatments your character is taking.

    7. Please no one-liner posts.

    8. We will have a Discord channel. It is strongly encouraged that you participate on Discord, but you are not required to do so if you do not wish. It just makes planning out co-writes a lot easier.

    9. Please let me know here on OOC or on Discord if you have to be gone for a few days or so.

    10. Multiple characters are allowed. As many as you can realistically handle is fine with me.

    11. Have fun and try to post as you can. Some weeks are going to be better than others, for me as well. Remember, real life matters more.

    12. Character App Sheet:
      Character Sheet

Please delete everything in parentheses after filling out the character sheet for cleanliness' sake.

      Aurora Grove staff:

      • Dr. Lee Roberts, Chief Administrator - Busy, harried, careful, first time managing a hospital, is that why he's so worried?
      • Dr. Jen Small, Director of Clinical Assessment - Compassionate, alert, fearful. What has she seen?
      • Dr. Feng Xu, Research Director - Brilliant, dedicated, cold, aloof. What does his job entail? No one on staff really likes him, but is that simply his Eastern mindset and customs?
      • Dr. Maria Vasquez, therapist - Peaceful, sensible, warm. Or is it all an act?
      • Dr. Hugo Christiansen, therapist - Logical, insightful, understanding. Has he figured something out?
      • Tyrell Jackson, orderly - Humorous, warm, always has a joke on his lips. Natural charisma. Why does he have such a close connection to the chief administrator?
      • Rex Burke, orderly - Quiet, responsible, loyal. Is this a man who will do whatever is asked, even dangerous, no questions asked?

First Name: Persis Angelopoulos, or that's what the records say. But it doesn't feel like it's her name...
Age: 22, or, again, that's what the records say.
      Sex: Female
Height, Weight, Build: 155cm, 49kg, as per the pic. She's not particularly well-built.

Personality: Persis is... Odd. She's extremely tense and very highly-strung and shy, constantly twitching as if there's someone out to get her. But none of that is constant, as her personality can change seemingly on a dime, swinging from extreme to extreme with no sign of when she might change.
      Bio:

Persis' memories are fractured far, far more so than anyone else's.

She remembers the name Esme, but not whom it belongs to, only that it is not hers.

She remembers deafening noise and bright flashing lights, the feeling of being surrounded by other people, of movement and belonging.

She remembers blood, and sand, and the crashing of waves.

She remembers a vague face, of indeterminate race and gender, the face always, always changing, and a deep hate attatched to it with only the hate remaining constant.

She remembers a building of lights, and a feeling of belonging and ownership.

She remembers a silver steel door, half-open, with nothing behind and a feeling of deep, deep loss and betrayal.

She remembers the sensation of drowning.

She remembers knowing something, but having forgotten what it was other than it was very, very important.

She remembers a language she doesn't recognise being spoken by her own voice to a thousand thousand faceless people, and them cheering in response.

She remembers rage and hate and sand running through her fingers.

She remembers the smell of burning and the crackle of flames all around her, but the air was cold.

She remembers a needle breaking through her skin, and a cry of triumph escaping her own lips.

She remembers a map drawn on a door in florescent paint, strangely decorated and with names she does not recognise and a feeling of freedom and hope.

She remembers a naked figure standing before a tide, and the tide breaking around him.

She remembers falling from a great height, only for gravity to reverse and her to be soaring through the heavens.

She remembers a pair of female figures, one blazing with light, one a void from which nothing would escape, embracing while a man in grey watched and smiled.

She remembers a digital clock, and watching it clicking down from exactly 108 minutes to nothing, and then nothing at all.

She remembers running, running away from the white sun into grey fog.

She remembers a figure in armour beheading someone with an axe, and cheering.

She remembers stabbing a hooded and cloaked figure, only for their body to vanish like it never was.

She remembers a man in white chanting, and plunging a metal dagger into her throat.

      She remembers dying.

She remembers dying oh so many times.

She remembers dying, but never what she died from.

She remembers a clock, but there were no numbers, only strange symbols and that the hands moved at random.

She remembers a blocky concrete building and feeling only emptiness.

She remembers seeing the world become dust, and then dust becoming ash, and ash becoming her.

She remembers a man claiming he was eternal, and that he needed to but die to set this right, and that she had blind faith in his ability to do so.

She remembers a world without light, and that this world was fair and equitable to all.

She remembers a great spire, and a line of sacrifices in green robes leading to it.

Powers / Abilities: Persis is a dual pre/post-cognitive; she can see the past or future of her local area, with no idea of how far either way she may see.

      Realistic Power Drawbacks:
These visions can't be controlled by Persis, but happen sporadically, usually while asleep but a few times maybe when awake.

With the psychological therapy she is receiving, Persis has been told many many times that what she sees are either dreams or hallucinations, that they are not real, and that the staff is trying to help her overcome them. However, this is rendered rather difficult as she is unable to distinguish between her visions, regular dreams and reality.

Fears: Persis is scared of nothing, nothing bar herself and losing whatever tiny thing is still in her and real.
Stance towards authority figures: Constantly changing. Sometimes she will venomously resist any and all authority, sometimes she'll be apathetic, sometimes she'll all but grovel at their feet.
      Other Medical Issues [Optional]:
      Psychological disorders [Optional]:

      Miscellaneous:
RP Examples: I hope you remember me.

I like Persis. I am suggesting these medication (and therapy)-induced weaknesses of powers: These visions can't be controlled by Persis, but happen sporadically, usually while asleep but a few times maybe when awake.

With the psychological therapy she will be receiving, Persis has been told many many times that what she sees are either dreams or hallucinations, that they are not real, and that the staff is trying to help her overcome them.

If you can accept these suggestions, than Persis is ACCEPTED!

I'm fine with that, I had no intention of her having much to any control over her visions in the first place.

First Name: "Astrid Long, I think, although that somehow sounds inaccurate. I'm referred to as "FC" by the doctors for some reason, though. Dunno what it stands for."
Age: "15, I think. It's hard to tell if that's right."
      Sex: F(?)
Height, Weight, Build: 168cm and 60kg, subject to frequent change.

Personality: FC has been observed to hold a generally even temper at a surface level. Although not seen to be terribly personable, the specimen is generally polite. FC further displays a series of perhaps oxymoronic traits. While generally docile and complacent in demeanour, there are certain actions and circumstances where volatile reactions can be observed. Most notably, strong negative reactions can be provoked by poorly played saxophone, repeated unwanted physical contact, and interrogation. The latter creates some difficulties, as the specimen's nerves may interfere with finding accurate and useful information when necessary. In social terms, FC appears to maintain two main states. A negative mood is usually accompanied by personal isolation and general repugnance, while a positive mood most often has FC display reasonable amiability, although in both cases the specimen is often prone to humour, with negativity leading to more snide comments while positivity leading towards less personal means of humour.
Bio: "I remember a fuzzy yet clear dream...or was it a dream? It felt like it'd happened, and that I'd previously dreamed of it as well. The trains had faces, and I was small amongst other small people."

“I think I had another dream. This old woman and old man shared a house with me...They seemed like giants. The old woman had a chair with wheels, that she only left by flying. She’d only fly when her chair was pushed to the right place and the old man touched her back. What could all that mean?”

“I think my subconscious must be awfully creative. Last night I had a dream that I was changing my house and my family between two different families and two different houses pretty much every week. Crazy, right?”

“I swear I don’t think my dreams have any more meaning to them these days. I was always around these tall, ethereal places. Like inside pillars of stone with coloured glass. And men and women wearing robes with fire and breads and juice, all singing between loud archaic speaking. It’s like something out of a film, I reckon.”

“I don’t understand what’s going on in my brain at night. I swear it puts together the most absurd things. Like a great building with an artificial tornado, and sand, and pistons that made waves. A full train inside, all build atop a coal mine on the shores of a windy lake near to a grand metropolis. Such a thing surely isn’t true, right?”

“I dreamt something very fuzzy last night...and kinda scary. This big white building, same as the one in the Dream with multiple homes, was all decrepit and decayed...like something had destroyed it. A man kept going in and out...talking about damage from...Kathrine? What could a Katherine destroy?”

Powers / Abilities: Fluxu Constant is named for their continual state of physcial change tied closely to a number of forms of digital media. The most notable part of FC's abilities is the shapeshifting. Testing to date indicates that the extent to which FC could theoretically shapeshift is unknown, although FC has to date not deviated far from a humanoid form. Based on current observations, the means by which FC's physical form changes is not smooth physical transition as observed with other shapeshifters, but rather a transition in which FC's body appears to glitch between its new form and old form numerous times in rapid succession for varying durations of time, occasionally changing in location to some degree, although this effect seems unintentional. It is currently theorised that the means of shapeshifting FC's body undertakes is directly related to the other facet of their powers. While there is no scientifically agreed-upon term for it, it can be most accurately described as "Electronic Media Manipulation." By means of these abilities, FC somehow is capable of linking to various media devices, specialising in televisions, radios, and computers. Once more, her full capabilities likely have not been observed, but it appears that she is generally able to manipulate such devices as if she is indeed a fellow device controlling it as a remote, although her speaking through or broadcasting her own image has been observed as well. It is not known whether she is able to inhabit certain media devices, or if she merely connects to them and manipulates then similarly to a remote.
Realistic Power Drawbacks: While it has not previously been observed, it is theorised that the moving glitching sometimes accompanying shapeshifting could potentially bring FC into solid objects, with a possible result difficult to predict. Regarding media manipulation, it is theorised that, as FC connects in some way to devices, they may well be highly susceptible to cyberattacks within their biological mind, although this has not been extensively tested with intent to avoid seriously damaging the facilities of the specimen.
      Medication Effects:
      a) a range of about four feet for Astrid to manipulate electronic media devices, as well as half the time the electronic device simply stalls in its current operation (or goes "staticky") and does not work as Astrid intended.
      b) an extremely limited range to glitch-teleport, say, 4 inches.
      c) uncontrolled shapeshifting.

Fears: FC appears to be very protective over their own secrets, and becomes acutely distressed when confronted. Further, the specimen seems to maintain a juxtapositional relationship with reflective surfaces, sometimes being enamoured with their reflection and other times shunning their reflection to an obvious degree.
Stance towards authority figures: FC rarely stands against authority, and will at very most quietly object.
Other Medical Issues [Optional]: Specimen is capable of consuming gluten and dairy products, but has allergies to both, particularly the former. Probiotics are needed two daily, and antacids are sometimes necessary.
Psychological disorders [Optional]: FC regularly appears to have display some level of depressive tendencies, although the specimen is functional without and does not need any form of medication. Subject appears to harbour some narcissistic tendencies, although more observation is necessary to determine extent and consistence.

Miscellaneous: While the vast majority of FC's factors may shift unrecognisably within months, there are a few [] constants that may be used to determine objectively if the individual in question is FC. First, physically, FC's irises and pupils always resemble cartoonish renditions of radio dials, with the iris being a slightly luminescent red, the pupils being arrow-shaped and black, and blood vessels in the sclera seemingly resembling tick marks. Vocally, while FC's voice and accent both may be subject to change, any voice of FC's sounds as if it is spoken through a vacuum tube radio.

      First Name: Markus
Age: Presumed to be between 20-25 years old
      Sex: Male
Height, Weight, Build: 6’3, 192 lbs, lean and muscular

Personality: Markus is a reasonable man, who prefers to talk his way out of a bad situation rather than resolve it through violence. Markus is also incredibly intelligent, having large amounts of knowledge pertaining to physics and chemistry. However, having a case of dissociative identity disorder, his identity is split between two characters. Markus, and who staff refer to as “Hyde”, a violent, silent man with a tendency to lash out against anybody who slights him in even the smallest way. It’s believed that the two personas communicate, as Markus knows of Hyde’s existence, and is incredibly terrified of him. However, Markus only refers to his alternate self as “The other man.”
Bio: Markus is a peculiar case, in which he has no memory at all, or at least, his memory it heavily divided between his two personas, so much so that only one memory between the two of them is even remotely distinguishable:
A woman lies dead on the floor, with handprints around her neck. Beside her is a bottle of wine (broken) and some car keys. A voice comes from behind Markus (male, likely in his later years). What the voice says is indistinguishable, as everything is blurry. Markus The other man runs to look at who’s speaking. Some old prick who heard the woman screaming. The other man silently approaches his new prey.

Powers / Abilities: Markus’ ability is kinetic absorption/rebound. If Markus comes in contact with a moving object, he can take said objects kinetic energy, rendering its movement null and giving him all the energy he stole. He can then apply this energy to other objects. For example, if a bullet is shot at him, he can take its energy and stop the bullets motion, and then apply said motion to another object, like throwing a ball, so that said ball will then be sent flying with the amount of force he stole from the bullet.

Realistic Power Drawbacks: To steal the kinetic energy of an object, Markus must be close enough to the object to touch it, making it risky to attempt to use against something like a bullet, or even a punch.

Medication Drawbacks: Markus can steal kinetic energy only from things he can touch, and not just moving things that are in the armspan distance of Markus. (In other words, he would have a very hard time before a shooter). And, Markus can only channel about 10% more energy into something than he could normally throw it, so nothing at like a bullet's velocity.

Fears: Markus seems to have huge fear of Hyde, referring to him only as, “the other man.” Hyde has no clear fears.
Stance towards authority figures: Neutral as Markus, Aggressive as Hyde
      Other Medical Issues [Optional]: N/A
      Psychological disorders [Optional]:
Dissociative Identity Disorder: Markus has a split personality, with his mind divided amongst two “characters”, individually referred to as Markus and what staff have come to refer to as Hyde. Markus is a passive, reasonable man. He is quick to try and settle conflict without any violence, whether said conflict be with another patient or a staff member. Markus also has a way with words, always knowing the right thing to say to sway people to his side of an argument. His alternate persona, who’s only given name is Hyde, is a silent, deadly character. Hyde is prone to lashing out against people when they leased expect it, taking revenge on them for even the slightest grievance. He rarely speaks, and when he does, it’s typically to threaten somebody. These two personas alternate on the drop of a dime, and the change in character is most commonly noticeable due to his pupil dilation. Hyde always has pupils so narrow they could be confused for a snakes.
Miscellaneous (anything else you’d like to add): The name of Markus’ alternate persona is a reference to the book by Robert Louis Stevenson “The Strange Case of Doctor Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.” On the topic of Hyde, the kinetic rebound ability doesn’t seem to work when Hyde is in control.

Khas, just so I'm clear here, Astrid ("FC") has three powers. Shapeshifting, Electronic Media Manipulation, and a limited though uncontrolled form of teleportation due to the glitching?

For medication drawbacks, I suggest: a) a range of about four feet for Astrid to manipulate electronic media devices, as well as half the time the electronic device simply stalls in its current operation (or goes "staticky") and does not work as Astrid intended.
      b) an extremely limited range to glitch-teleport, say, 4 inches.

If these drawbacks are agreed upon, then Astrid is ACCEPTED.

Haedros - A couple of questions for you. First, a little clarification. In the example of Markus' kinetic energy absorbtion / rebound, you mention what would happen if he was shot with gunfire. (Oh, and check the 3rd sentence you wrote under "powers", I'm assuming that's a hilarious and embarrassing typo and not what you are actually describing). But under drawbacks, you make the example of gunfire risky, thus seeming to contradict what you had said before.

Second, so this isn't something where someone hits Markus or shoots at him, and he goes all Sebastian Shaw (from the X-Men) back? This is more like, he has to touch something that's not moving at him at the speed of a bullet or a punch or something?

I like where this character is going. With Hyde's personality and willingness to snap and take quick revenge, he will draw the attention of the administration. I'm not saying you can't have him like this. But be aware.

I'll get to medicinal drawbacks when I hear back from you. And I still need to check out your RP reference, but I knew Gotham was a long-lasting RP and had some substance to it, so that's a plus for you.

He doesn’t have to touch an object to steal its kinetic energy. He does have to be within around 3 inches of it and have to be aware of it’s presence. He can stop bullets, but he has to know that a bullet is speeding toward his head and from which direction it’s coming, and then wait till it’s almost touching him so he can consciously stop it. And I actually was a Co-op under the second person to run the Gotham RP.

      First Name: Lucas O’Driscoll
      Age: 26
      Sex: Male
Height, Weight, Build: 5,11, 172 lbs, thin and lightly muscled

Personality: Lucas is an asshole, to put it quite simply. He enjoys playing mind games with people to piss them off and then come away relatively unscathed. He pushes people to no end, trying to provoke people into a reaction. He has an especially dry sense of humor, and is especially cynical when it comes to other people.
      Bio:
All of Lucas’ memories, curiously enough, seem to be letters from one individual named Caroline B.

      Letter one:
Lucas, it’s me, Caroline. I just wanted to let you know that I made it here safe. I miss you, though. It’s not to late to come with me. Who am I kidding? You’ve already probably thrown this letter away. Anyways, I don’t have anymore time to write, I have to begin unpacking. Write me back, please.
      Sincerely, Caroline B.

      Letter two:
      Hi Lucas,
It’s Caroline again. Just finished unpacking. Took me long enough right? Anyways, I’m sorry for what I said before I left. It was uncalled for. I just... I wanted us to stay together. I miss what we had, you know? And just when we were starting to fix things, I had to leave. Well, what’s done is done, I guess. Oh! I just remembered, I got a new phone! If you’d like to call, well, here’s my number: ###-###-####. Don’t call yet though, I have some things to do. But, I’d probably be able take a call later tonight? I dunno. Well anyways, I’ve got to go to the store now, my roommate is hungry. And you know how patient she is.
      Anyways, Sincerely, Caroline

Letter 3 (this one was actually a text on a cell phone, an old flip phone, according to Lucas):
God, why do you have to be so stubborn?! I just asked if you would come visit, and see if you liked it out here! I get it, you don’t want to leave your father’s house, but seriously, how important is that old place anyway?! It’s literally infested with termites, and rats, and all sorts of shit! Why are you so obsessed with that damn place?! You know what? I’m done! You wanna choose that shithole over me? That’s fine!

Powers / Abilities: Lucas has three clear abilities, all branching off of one central idea:
      1) Lucas can extend some mental probe to read a persons thoughts at a distance of about 3 kilometers. He can read anybodies mind, but some people are more resistant, and can sometimes even sense when he is probing around.
      2) He can communicate thoughts through his mental probe into other people’s heads as a form of long distance communication.
      3) He can attempt to seed emotions into other people’s mind and make them think it is their own emotions. For example, he can seed anger towards a person into somebody else, and attempt to make that person believe that it was them who produced that emotion.

Realistic Power Drawbacks: Each of Lucas’ abilities has its own separate drawback:
      1) Some people naturally have a higher mental fortitude, and thus can block out his mental probe. All people can feel the probe as he searches their mind, but most don’t know what it is, and so they ignore it.
      2) Communication is difficult at long range. Imagine a radio losing signal because it’s really far away from whatever station it’s tuned into.
      3) Most people can easily resist emotions that Lucas plants into their heads.
All of these powers don’t work as well on the patients of this facility, as their clouded memories and minds seem to stop the probe in its tracks.

      Medication Drawbacks:
      a) Going with my rule of thumb of 10% effectiveness, the distance for Lucas' mental probe is 300 meters.
      b) He also has more difficulty communicating his own thoughts to other minds than reading theirs. I'll give about a 75% efficacy of reading minds, and about a 25% chance of communicating thoughts.
      c) Emotions can be seeded without difficulty, but they will be lesser versions of these emotions. (e.g., instead of fury, a person Lucas tries to make furious will get more annoyed. Instead of depression, a person Lucas tries to make depressed will feel discouraged).

Fears: Isolation. Think about it, if you’re power was to see other people’s minds and hear their thoughts, how would you feel if there were no thoughts present but your own clouded memories?
Stance towards authority figures: Somewhat antagonistic
Other Medical Issues [Optional]: None, really. He does walk with a semi bad limp though.
      Psychological disorders [Optional]: N/A

Miscellaneous (anything else you’d like to add): N/A
RP Examples: I did just give you one...

      Sex: Female
      Height, Weight, Build: 5’ 10” tall, 130 lbs., slender-wirey build-musculature.

Personality: An “Alpha". Uses both physical and mental intimidation when possible.
Bio: Puberty was hell, Lupe wanted to be a good girl, but she had urges. Her family tried to have her exorcised. She loved the feeling of power over others as she convinced them to give her what was rightfully hers....
      Powers / Abilities:
Strong Disorienting Pheromones are produced for 9 days per month (during the period when the patient is most fertile) which cause various levels nearby humans to become susceptible to suggestions by dominant personalities. The effect begins at a lower level on the 1st day, peaks on the 5th day and then diminishes from the 6th through the 9th days. On the 10th day, the patient stops producing the pheromone until the beginning of the next fertile cycle.

Physical Speed is also Enhanced during the patient's fertile period in that on the 1st day she is able to perform twice as many actions as a normal human, 3 times as many actions on the 2nd day, 4 times as many actions on the 3rd day, 5x on the 4th day and 6x on the 5th day (at the peak of her fertile cycle). This condition diminishes as it increased, with the patient being like a normal human, when not sexually fertile.

The patient is able to accurately gauge, even in a closed environment, the approximate time of day or night, lunar phases and time of the year.

      Realistic Power Drawbacks:
Persons at various levels of confusion and suggestibility are often not useful in carrying out complex tasks and can be bothersome.

Use of increased speed increases the speed of fatigue and the need to eat and drink.

The patient also experiences greater sexual arousal during her periods of fertility.

OP to decide on effects medications will have on powers

      Fears: Ropes, Chains, Crucifixes, Priests.
Stance towards authority figures: Varies. More defiant during times near the full moon and more passive during periods near the new moon.
      Other Medical Issues [Optional]:
      Psychological disorders [Optional]: Claustrophobia

Medicinal drawbacks: a) While Lupe can still produce pheromones as normal, they are not as effective. Normal people have a 60% chance to resist her suggestions (or suggestions from other dominant personalities).
      b) Speed/efficiency is going to be only a little better on day 1 and 2; on days 3-4, 1 and a half times normal; on day 6, twice as much as normal.
      c) lunar phase and time sensing is untouched by medicines.

      First Name: Eleanor
      Age: 15
      Sex: Female
Height, Weight, Build: She is a small girl, though for reasons unknown to her she has a lithe frame, almost as if she were an athlete before she came here.

Personality: It might be caused by the medication, or she might have always been like this, but her personality tends to bend and shift with no rhyme or reason. She is often dreamy and tends to wax poetic, but can suddenly become sharp and aware or upbeat and happy. Negative emotions rarely visit her, which is a bonus. She is a favourite of many of the staff, due to her agreeable nature and willingness to believe them. Compared to the others she is incredibly normal and well-adjusted, but she unmistakably belongs here. She has the same holes in her life as the rest, and the lingering feeling of another life lost, not to mention the hallucinations of Sizzlean and other various things.

Bio: Her memories are incredibly detailed where they do provide any details at all, but some details simply are not there. She has many, many memories, but most are uncovered and then forgotten in her sleep.

She remembers a soft, small candlelit room. A wooden crucifix nailed roughly to a wall over a simple white mattress sitting on a simple wooden frame. The plaster walls are a peeling, faded beige and a square table sits in the corner, covered in a small amount of well-worn books stacked neatly along the edge. A wooden chair is pushed carefully into the desk, and there is a small window near the high ceiling that shows a dusky sky. A knock on the door and a matronly voice calls out. "Eleanor, dinnertime."

She is sitting in a classroom surrounded by other girls, all in matching uniforms. The rough wooden pews scratch at her through the thin woollen skirt, but she works diligently on her sheet of calculus questions. The stones underneath her desk are worn, the mortar cracking between them. The last problem is now solved. She sets down her writing utensil and looks up. At the front is a blackboard and a woman, dressed in a strange black garb with . . . some white parts. She isn't sure. A mosaic of colour fills her vision as she looks into a bright light. The memory continues to become fuzzier, until there is nothing but the warm scent of incense and the faint impression of gentle sunlight beaming through stained glass windows.

There is a grassy hill, and songbirds flit about above her. She twirls around, the thin strands of grass brushing against her bare legs. The gentle murmur of conversation drifts over from behind her, the place where the picnic is happening. She's at a picnic with people. Her family? Her shoes fly off and she dances, her feet stomping about and digging into the loamy soil. Her arms pinwheel around her. The scent of lavender drifts into her mind as a gentle voice calls her name.

She sees from millions of perspectives, each moving around an urban area. She is on the roof of a tall building and people are screaming in a language she knows but cannot identify in the streets below. She searches, absorbing everything she sees, looking for something specific amidst the extra. Fire and concrete. A crush of fleeing bodies. Dense smoke. Piles of corpses. Smoke chokes her lungs. The danger is near. She narrows the images. Under her. Two windows down. An office. It burns, in the middle is a woman. A fire. Almost cursing, but catching herself and making the sign of the cross, she peers over the edge. There is someone in her ear, and she tells them something. That voice. Two voices. They talk. The side of the building blasts out in a surge of flame and the woman flies out. A silver streak meets her and the two crash into the pavement below. Only the silver figure gets back up. Relief.

A trolley, creaking its way through a dark tunnel. She is covered in small scratches. She coughs occasionally, the burn of smoke irritating her throat. A woman in black robes is sitting next to her, brushing her hair. Another wipes soot off of her face and smiles at her. She can't hear herself talk back. Their faces are blurred. They murmur in a language that feels so familiar. The language she knows. She glances at the girl and boy across from her. The girl is prim and proper, wearing the same uniform as her but without a hint of dishevelled. The girl is like her, with soft black brown hair that cascades down her shoulders, except that her eyes are different. Silvery. The boy is in beige trousers and a vest with their school colours. They are her classmates. Her teammates. Friends? He has brown eyes and brown hair, his skin lighter than anyone else's. Not olive, or brown, but pale and pinkish. He thinks no one noticed, but he slipped several bank notes into his shoe sometime during the mission. Lots of money. She can see the serial numbers in her mind. Corpses. He always does this, but no one ever finds out. He does good. The dead have no need for it. His crime is for God to judge.

Powers / Abilities: She had the ability of her senses, and the ability to influence the senses of others. She could project any one of her senses up to 2 kilometres away, her ability to influence them in the perception of others steadily decreasing as it reached its limits (e.g. from the ability to make someone blind all the way to only being able to make something appear to be covered in purple and green dots) but her ability to perceive consistently strong throughout her entire range (she can see everything from every possible angle, but the more detailed she looks she harder it is to quickly find things, like finding a specific grain of sand on a beach). Smell, taste, and touch are more powerful for influencing others, while hearing and sight are better for perceiving. Or rather, were. Or never were. Powers? Ridiculous! There's no such thing. Thoughts like these are what make her regress. The only way forward is to listen to the doctors.

      Realistic Power Drawbacks:

Eleanor can only sense / perceive/ project senses up to 200 meters away.

Fears: She has a fear of being in trouble with the staff, and of what happens to those who disobey.
Stance towards authority figures: She likes to be safe in the comfort of knowing there are people surrounding her who only want the best for you, and treats the staff like one would treat a kind parent. She is loved by many of the staff because she is one of the least difficult patients, doing her part to make their lives easier. She is allowed outside almost every day, always on her best behaviour.
Other Medical Issues [Optional]: There might be something wrong with her senses. Every Monday and Thursday she has to go to a special office to have her eyes, ears, nose, and tongue checked. She's not sure what exactly is wrong, but she trusts the doctors are doing their best to keep her healthy.
Psychological disorders [Optional]: She suffers from hallucinations, extremely realistic in nature. Voices in her head that sound like people in the facility, images of rooms with staff in them or rooms that seem like part of the facility that she has never seen, and more. She knows they are in her head, and knows to ignore them. She hasn't mentioned it to the staff, though, as she is worried it might mean she is regressing and get in trouble.

Miscellaneous: She speaks a mix of Spanish and English, and often after medications or when she is surprised she will speak in Spanish. English will be written normally, and Spanish will be written in italics.

      Some apps!

Ok Haedros. Good writing on the Gotham RP. As I expected. Thanks also for the clarification on Markus' powers. If you would include that section here in Markus' powers to help describe them for me in the future, the section you wrote (at the beginning of your other app), that would be great.

As for medicinal disadvantages: Markus can steal kinetic energy only from things he can touch, and not just moving things that are in the armspan distance of Markus. (In other words, he would have a very hard time before a shooter). And, Markus can only channel about 10% more energy into something than he could normally throw it, so nothing at like a bullet's velocity.

If these are ok, then Markus / Hyde is ACCEPTED.

And for your other app (which multiple characters are completely fine!)

First, nice touch with the memories being only letters. Intriguing.

I like Lucas. Ok, medicinal drawbacks.
      a) Going with my rule of thumb of 10% effectiveness, the distance for Lucas' mental probe is 300 meters.
      b) He also has more difficulty communicating his own thoughts to other minds than reading theirs.

If you can go with these, then Lucas is also ACCEPTED.

Eleanor will be a good addition. Nice power set. Creative. A very good spy. Also, I thought your reference to Sizzlean was hilarious, that being the word that I chose to seek out future apps.

Medicinal drawbacks - Going with the general rule of thumb of everything at 10%, Eleanor can only sense / perceive/ project senses up to 200 meters away.

If that's ok with you, then Eleanor is ACCEPTED!

Feel free to post either as Verdantderm or as the one you normally use. (I was TG'd). It's up to you. (If you want to use your other one more, let me know and I'll put it down that way in the roster).

Lupe is going to be an interesting addition. I look forward to seeing how she is going to work. Curious mixture.

If these are ok, Lupe is ACCEPTED!
The Clockwork Circus - Welcome to a steampunk RP rife with crime, gangs, beggars, and starting off as the lowest of the low, in the lowest socio-economic place there is.

      Yay! I'm ACCEPTED!

Wait. Does ACCEPTED! always have to be capitalised and shouted?

      ACCEPTED!

      ACC . . . EP . . . TED!

      ACCEPTED!

      Hm. Interesting.
