Hey Abs, Zark, wanted to run an idea by you guys.

How'd you feel if chars had "classes" listed by their names in the character table in the OP? It wouldn't be intended to bind anybody to a particular role or to bestow any abilities, but could be useful to allow folks at a glance to figure out the general style that an RPer is going for them.

If Abs is fine with it, I can do it.

Mind you, I'll just use my own criteria.

Interesting to note that the merchant claimed that the potion came all the way from the Free City. That place exports books and other holy texts, not potions. If Strauch was there, he would have told the merchant to throw it out, regardless if it was genuine or not.

Description/Lore: Ratfolk are defined by a society of greed and duplicity, where the most successful are those who can most effectively accumulate wealth and status. The ratfolk society believes that upon death, the only way to ensure you get into a good afterlife is by providing material goods to prove your worth to the great judge. This does not make all ratfolk intrinsically evil, some channel this spiritual desire for profit and gain into an incredible work ethic. Others, on the other hand, would much rather backstab and cheat their way up the ladder. Both approaches are respected and also looked upon with scorn by the Ratfolk. A hard worker is seen as both a profitable individual and a foolish dupe. A treacherous snake is lauded for ambition, but also their existence is inherently disruptive and dangerous. It is as much part of the great race to indulge in ambition as it is to hide it.

Ratfolk often band together in merchant clans, who benefit from the clans resources and protection, but have to pay fees to that clan. These clans operate within existing societies most of the time, however, the Ratfolk do have their own city in the form of the great underground city of Ariskhisapit, or simply "The Pit". Ratfolk engage in a number of professions, from mercenary work to commerce to scholarly pursuits to even priestdom.
Innate Abilities:

• Hightened Senses: Ratfolk have hightened senses of smell, taste and especially hearing.
• Keen Survival Instincts: Ratfolk can occasionally sense danger. A vague tingling in their spine, an itch on their paw, a sour taste. This sense is a vague one which does not show what the danger is or how it will manifest. However, it gets stronger the closer the ratfolk is to danger. This makes it often hard to sneak up on a ratfolk.

Innate Weaknesses:

• Soft Ratfolk have 'glass jaws' and simply cannot stand as much punishment as other races.
• The Haze Ratfolk have strong Fight or Flight urges and occasionally find themselves either in a frenzy or running for their life involuntarily. Most often it's the latter.

Well were in the middle of Z-day. I personally is in a seemly mostly inactive region and I´m fighting basically by myself against a zombie army. Not to mention many of us have lives outside of this. Just give it some time and people with start posting again.

Bio: Tkir-Tan was born to a family who were the unfortunate victims of a "hit" ordered by a clan leader. They were accused of betraying secrets to outsiders, but this was really a cover for aspiring Boss Karsnit Redtooth ensuring the demise of the then boss Tith-Tir Goldsclaw and those loyal to him. Though Ratfolk are not often thought of as sentimental creatures, the bond one has for their family can often be close nit. Tkir swore revenge for his murdered family, and that he would surpass and execute Karsnit himself.

But to do that he would need money and protection from the assassins who were sent by Karsnit looking for the last of the Shiknar family. Tkir gravitated at first to the Seers of the Well of Darkness as they pay their priests and their order provides protection. He was ordained and earned his horns, but he found himself limited by the holy laws and also his oppertunities for advancement were stymied by the higher level priests.

So Tkir left the priesthood and joined the legion, reasoning that he had spent enough time hiding and that the legion paid more.
Heroic Boon: Rat Daemon: Tkir was gifted by the stone a great and hulking protector Rat Daemon named Krog. Krog can be killed, though he will return to his master every time the moon rises. Krog can speak and communicate, but he has little intellect for things outside of following Tkir's orders or smashing things.

And yes, Krog is a Daemon, not a Demon.
Abilities:

• [Magic of the Well]: Tkir draws his magic from the well of darkness. One of the great artifact gods a Horned Seer may choose from. From his chosen patron he gained an ability to bend shadows and darkness to his will and an ability to discern the unseen.
  
  • [Attacks of Shadow]: Tkir can fashion the darkness into whips, spears, knives or cutting beams of sharp solid darkness.
  • [Cloak of Shadow]: Tkir can cloak himself and others in the darkness of an area around him, making him and those he hides harder to detect. He can also use this to temporarily blind others.
  • [Shadow Step]: Tkir can move within shadows, vanishing and then manifesting either where a shadow is cast or within it's darkness.
  • [Liquid Darkness]: Tkir can turn shadow into a semi-liquid tar which can restrain others.
  • [Shadow Clones]: Tkir can make up to five semi corporeal copies of himself or other ratfolk. They can attack enemies, but they take only a single weak hit to disperse.
  • [Insight into the Unseen]: Tkir can gain insight into the secrets of others through a scrying ritual.

Limitations (Reasons why your char can’t singlehandedly conquer a kingdom):

• Tkir is vulnerable to concentrated light magic.
• Tkir's abilities are less effective against those with darkvision, and he is easier to detect the longer one's eyes have adjusted to the dark.
• Tkir's scrying is vague and often hard to interpret.
• Krog is very dumb. He requires fairly direct instructions by Tkir and often messes up anything more complicated than "Smash"
