Furthermore, considering how heavily Fascism's been criticized for being unapologetically opportunistic and ideologically dishonest (and before we act like these are unfounded criticisms, the actions of the historical Fascist regimes and the credentials of the critics would easily prove that they're entirely founded on reality), it's not that hard to consider the environmentalism to be one of a million bullshit talking points meant to spur on support.

But, nah! Fascists would never ever ever EVER lie to get what they want! Why, that'd be uncouth!

The communists, the actual ones not your anarchists libertarian types, also lied to get what they wanted.

I assumed a principled libertarian would favor abstention.

I mean, when the 2015 Argie presidential election came down to neolib Macri and peronist Scioli, the actually, honestly principled communists called for left-wing voters to cast blank ballots. When pressed to choose between two incredibly flawed candidates, but one of which supported policies somewhere in the vicinity of their own, they refused to choose altogether. They stood by their ideals even when they knew it could (and did) partially lead to a victory for the most right-wing candidate with.

Why can't right-wing libertarians do the same? :thonk:

I've met too many right-libertarians who abstain from all voting, and I can't help but think of them as cowardly.

With Videla he wouldn't even be able to argue that it's all justified because of "muh economy", given that Videla's dictatorship left our economy in shambles after applying a bunch of neocon policies.

At least Videla didn’t start a war because his popularity was shit

Some of you have mentioned the new Brazilian Pres. being like the Philippines Pres. Then some have mentioned that the new Brazilian pres. could care less about the Amazon or the environment. It seems that is where the Brazilian pres. and the Philippines Pres. have differences. A few months ago the Philippines Pres. closed down a major tourist island that was being overwhelmed by uncontrolled tourism that was creating major environmental problems. The island has re-opened after major changes.

Lel, then you need to take off the rose-tinted goggles and consider why people would actually consider him to be a Fascist.

The right wing is inherently better for the common man

Apparently not the common person who's a: woman, a member of the LGBTQ+ community, any racial, religious, or ethnic minority, or anyone who disagrees with Bolsonaro's beliefs.

Pffft.

Holy shit, there's so much wrong with this statement that I can't even fathom what to say except you literally have no idea what you're talking about.

I guess, going off this insane logic here, you think the very government you swore an oath to is Communist, yeah?
