Posted. With 42 years of Witch Hunting, I'm sure some characters are interested in his stories and advice since he is on average twice their age.

Sorry if it's confusing ;)
First, of all the current characters in the Paean Legion where either arriving in the HQ or already there. There were only three contracts (Goblin Camp Extermination, Family Heirloom Retrieval, & Red Hill Company Caravan Escort). The characters split themselves up into groups on which contract to take. The Heirloom group has left and is meeting in the city's West Gate, the goblin group is about to leave, and the Caravan escort is still organizing itself. That's pretty much it. Just three different group of characters.

Oh, I just realized something.
Strauch is missing an eye. He lost it in one of his first battles. And Krel lost a leg in her first battle. I didn't mean to do that. I hope all of the Inquisition doesn't have one body part missing or this is gonna be awkward.

No, not really, injuries like that are common and sometimes restored in the Inquisition. It all depends if you find a powerful mage or Wood Elf sorcerer.

That's fine. Tho keep in mind he'd want to remain inconspicuous as undead aren't looked at favorably ;)

For the lowest paying quest, a lot of people want to join it. Probably because there's a lower chance of being murdered to death by goblins.

Seeing how there's a handful of people who are yet to sign up and want to go on the caravan contract, I think I'll just hold off on posting for now.

Eh, I'm not sure the necromancer would've gone that far. He was inside Snow Elf land and primarily threatening the Dominion. Was more wondering if some roaming band of mercenaries might've signed up for a good fight.

What I meant was, the necromancer's influence threatened our capital. Lots of nearby heretics, goblins, and bandits started getting bolder. But yeah, most of Clan Sword-Singer signed on as mercenaries.

Sylanna's probably fought her fair share of them in the past four years, since that's the time she's been in the Legion. I don't know if she'd have fought them any earlier than that though, depends on whether they'd live far enough up north.

Faction Name: Church of the Divines
Faction Region(s): Although their power is concentrated in the Urban Center and they wield significant influence within the Western Heartlands, the Church operates in some form in nearly every region.
Description/Lore: The worship of the Nine Divines stretches as far back as the scripture cares to remember, long before the Church itself was founded as an institution. Originally, each of the Divines had their own Priesthood within the Western Heartlands which preached the faith. It wasn’t until one of the first elvish Empires began to conquer its way through the human settlements of the region that the followers of the Divines began to see themselves as a single congregation. Persecuted by the elves as purveyors of heretics against their own foreign faith, the humans nevertheless clung to their old beliefs. Eventually, a sense of shared religious heritage contributed to a rebellion that forced the elves to retreat back to their historical borders.

While the period of persecution had brought the Divines together into a single pantheon in the eyes of their followers, there was still no single institution responsible for organising the religion. It wasn’t until the Shar Imperium expanded into the Western Heartlands that the Emperor of the day saw a benefit in co-opting the local religious practices to secure his rule. Announcing that the worship of the Divines was the official state religion, the Emperor established the Church inside his capital and it became increasingly powerful throughout the large state. Then, while the borders of the Empire shrunk and its core cities began to split and squabble, the Church remained as a reminder of their shared history.

As such, while the Church itself does not command armies or legions, it wields significant political influence both within the capital of the Theocracies and the throughout the Western Heartlands. Its Paladins however do allow it to call upon armed force should the need ever arise.
Races that are part of the faction: All, although humans do form the bulk of their followers. Some claim that the Church has begun to discriminate against elves, however.
Additional Info: Some accuse the Church of being a corrupt organisation, with its highest members more interested in secular power and influence that serving the Pantheon. This is, of course, resolutely denied by the Church.

Corruption? In my Free City? I'll have the Inquisition look into this.

But in all seriousness, I think you missed my post that power is heavily decentralized in the Inquisition. Which means Witch Hunters are pretty much free to investigate their own churches if they suspect of heresy or other criminal activity

Yep, no I got that :) figure that it's a bit of a push-and-pull. The Church keeps an eye on Inquisitors not directly under its control (i.e. part of its faith) but wields some influence with the Inquisition itself due to their large size and continued support of the organisation. Like if they got too unhappy with the Inquisition they could go nuclear and drop membership.

Faction Name: Clan Sword-Singer
Faction Region(s): The Northern Reaches
Description/Lore: Clan Sword-Singer is a group of nomadic warriors of the best caliber. They are led by the Grand Sword-Singer, and are a hierarchical society. They earn their food and money by hunting, doing quests, and acting as mercenaries. It is tradition that young Sword-Singers are sent off to form mercenary companies with other Sword-Singers, and too not return until they are considered heroes to the Grand Sword-Singer.
Races that are part of the faction: Humans and Elves of all kinds
Additional Info: They are mercenaries, hunters, and warriors of the highest caliber.

Figured I'd turn Clan Sword-Singer into a faction.

Hold up, the Inquisition was formed specifically to combat black magic and dark cults, before expanding its services for criminal investigations. The churches that make up the Inquisition gives a lot of freedom for Witch Hunters to operate. If the Church decides to nuke its membership just because of charges of corruption, that's is gonna raise a lot of red flags for the Free City and the Inquisition itself.

What's really worrying me is how much influence your Church has in the Inquisition. I did not plan on a church having a lot of political power (Even though it's worthless in the Free City) in the Inquisition. Sure, you got major religions but their using their power to defend the world from the forces of darkness and assisting the lesser known religions. From what I'm getting off of you and the app, the Church is more concerned with its own survival rather than the survival of forces of good as a whole.

And that's scaring me that this might distort the vision of the Inquisition since I'm planning to expand on its lore through Strauch's dialogue with the other adventurers.

Name: Arialista Sejangec Cyneberg
Age: 26
Gender: Female
Race: Human
Appearance (pics if possible): https://safebooru.org//samples/1182/sample_db10957334a4d335138cca31ca086c1aef990319.jpg?1231610
Statistics:
Strength: 2
Agility: 2
Endurance: 1
Magical Prowess: 3
Bio: Arialista was born and raised by a large family in the Eastern Archipelagos. She was often raised by her mother as her father was away on several contracts. While she was in her care, Arialista was personally taught and trained to help their family. Often, what her family did was to protect villagers nearby and to also provide food and other supplies so that they could live. Her family was one of the most honorable and wealthy and so was one of the only groups who could do this kindness to many others. They kept doing this because they too relied on the villagers who they hired to take care of their farms and other estates.
In earnest, she did so and kept doing it until she was 15 years old.

Her uncle made an agreement with her mother that he would train her how to fight as life in the Archipelagos often had to deal with ambitious warring princes and warlords. She left her home islands on her 16th birthday and studied various forms of combat with her uncle. At the same time, she met her father and emotionally united with him. With them, she was able to have her first taste of war.

She served well, earning a few scars on her body here and there. On top of that, she received recognition from her fathers company of mercenaries, most especially the highest award they could possibly give her: The Grand Sun. But as she spent more and more time with them in the company, she chose to study as well. Learning from her uncles wife, who was a war mage helping them out. After so much study, she was able to earn her place on her 24th birthday. Her best ability, as she earned it, was to summon a weapon of her choosing and specialty (swords, spears, staves, shields only). Two years later, she was granted leave and joined the Paean Legion. Once she joined the Paean Legion, her boon was given to her. But to her, however, this boon was surprising.
Heroic Boon: Flames of Passion - Due to her history and heritage as a mercenary for a good cause and a warrior for her family, the boon given to her was an unexpected ability for her to use her emotions, most especially anger, to create magical fire. The presence of her boon can be felt whenever she is close to others and whenever anyone could see a small magical but harmless ball of flame orbiting above her head. Her limitations however include being unable to use her boon when she or another person isn't in danger and if her anger is not severe enough to trigger her boon.

Abilities:
  • Weapon Summoning: The ability to summon any weapon of any choosing at will. The weapons that she could summon are only swords, spears, staves and shields. She can summon only one weapon at a time or can only summon a shield and another weapon. Her weapons will disappear and she will have to summon them again if she lets go of them. They must never leave her hands if she wishes to use them. Using her summoned weapons for a long time can tire her and more tired she is, the weaker her weapon becomes until it can easily be shattered and she will be forced to summon another weapon.
  • Arcane Deflection: The ability to weave magic to fortify herself from harm. She could form her magic into a shield that, to others, is perceived as something with the color of the sky. The shield is also described as something like a wall. When using this ability, she could not cast other spells and must concentrate on keeping the shield up for a maximum of ten minutes or it will break. She could protect herself and another person but can only hold the shield for five minutes.
  • Power Surge: The ability to gather magic until she has stored sufficient or more than sufficient magic that, when the time is right, she could release against nearby targets. This ability is described as something she uses when in immediate danger and there is no room for her. So to make room, she uses her stored up magic, releasing them in order to push away targets and cause harm to them internally. Often, this causes internal bleeding, internal rupturing, internal swelling and fractures or dislocations.
  • Kabuto: An ability named after a common term for helmet in her family, this allows her to temporarily boost the armor she or another person is wearing with magic. Infusing the armor with magical particles that could reinforce the material the armor is made of. However, this ability only lasts for a few vital minutes (usually five minutes) as the magic has to leave the armor and return to her or dissipate.
  • Trauma: An ability that she dislikes using. It uses up all of her magic so that she could concentrate it into her summoned weapon. When that is done, it reinforces the magical material of her summoned weapon and in addition, it causes her own soul to become infused with magic, enabling her to become incredibly protective of others, becoming enraged at anyone or anything that hurts them during combat. Trauma lasts only for 1 minute but allows her to magically gain temporary strength. She also gains temporary resistance to melee attacks until her 1 minute is up.

Limitations (Reasons why your char can’t singlehandedly conquer a kingdom):
  • Magical Oath to the Legion: Arialista is loyal without a doubt to her Legion. However in order to keep herself in check, her aunt cast a spell on her that would cause her to remain loyal to the guild, no matter what direction it may go. She has no memory of this though as her aunt had erased all memory of her asking her aunt to do this and the rest of it. The consequences of her breaking that oath unless the guild releases her from it is magical paralysis. She is very much unlikely to turn against them.
  • Magical Consumption: Due to her summoning, she needs more magic than most mages. She is forced to consume potions frequently and at higher doses. She is also forced to rest after using her weapons for long periods of time or for summoning them frequently. Although she may use potions, she could use her ability to steal mana
  • Magical Limits: Due to her abilities, she is limited to summoning her weapons and that alone. While she could do basic magic spells, she is most focused on summoning her weapons and using them but can be easily tired or easily subdued with intelligent combat or so. Arialista is also vulnerable to various fatal or near fatal consequences as she requires magic. Without magic, she cannot summon her weapons and she cannot also sustain herself that much.
  • War Fatigue: Although a veteran, she has grown tired of war. Due to this, she is unlikely to take up causes that demand her reason without good reason. She is more likely to take up causes that are for the good of others or for the guilds interest.

Equipment:
  • Dou - Japanese style breastplate
  • armored sleeves
  • Potion belt - A belt of small mana potions that she wears around her waist
  • shin guards

Optional
Likes: Very well made mana potions, mana itself, protecting others, her uncle, other mercenaries (who are honorable), war magic, Tempura and wide open plains
Dislikes: People who are simply scum or dishonorable, losing a summoned weapon, being starved of mana, losing mana potions, being ordered to do questionable tasks against civilians or prisoners
Greatest Fear: To lose all her magic and be left defenseless in a battle.

I hope this is better ! :D

Ah, hmm - would it be better in that case if the Church of the Divines was not a part of the Inquisition?

Edit: Just made them not a member of the Inquisition for now :) will prob make things easier

Edit 2: On another note - any of the contracts still need people?
