I have to go with TWP this week. Though TEP does look good.

TWPs made me want it so much. I voted for 4ish that looked alright (including ours this week, so progress), but none of them came close to TWPs...

You don't see many threads on NS with direct RL influences (that come out delish)

Stop giving misogynistic abusers a platform. Anyone who sides with Tiktok Star Andrew Tate even 1% of what he says will be treated as enemy who should be shamed out of society. Impressions+Views+Videowatches=$. Nothing he says is new or revolutionary. I don't care if he said "some good stuff", it's still bad because: the more you watch him, the more ad revenue MONEY and algorithm BOOSTS you're giving him to traffick victims. And don't say the victim lied, a young man stupidly told me that the victim confessed to lying, I told em to link me proof, articles or the Audio of her confession, he googled and found 0 proof 0 articles, and he realized he was spreading fake rumors he heard and BELIEVED without fact-check. Don't brand victims as liars without GOOGLING. Debated here

I know almost nothing about Gameplay, but I recognize the names of some of these desserts. And also props to whoever's hosting this. You have brought me much laughter.

Wish I'd have found this sooner. I would have voted for you Balder!

Meanwhile, that Cormacadamia Nut Cupcake from Osiris looks like the easy winner to me. If only the judges could judge on taste and not just presentation :P

It doesn't look/sound half bad, but there are no better additions to cake, cup- or otherwise, than coffee and chocolate. TWP/TSP/TNP all the way this week.

I’ll probably give it a go this weekend if I have some time.

Update: The tangerine cupcake is awesome: light and fluffy and full of zest. I actually want to convert it into a cake in the future. I didn’t having a piping nozzle at the cottage for the icing but I found icing detracted from the flavours regardless. If you do this recipe you’ll want orange flavouring to add to your icing.

This week's Bake Off will be delayed until next week, while the tent is sent away for a deep cleanse. We want to avoid getting any brains in the bakes. Sorry!

One Two It's really that many?! weeks ago

(This episode was recorded a while ago, but was not aired firstly out of respect for victims of the zombie apocalypse, then was further delayed by the fact that gameplay was on fire which would have burnt the delicate pastries. We have kept the original graphics because reshooting was too expensive.)

"Oh la la, comment ca va, Warzone Box du Sand?"
"Oh la la, how are you, Warzone Sandbox?"

"Hon hon, mon amie, je fait bien!"
"Hon hon, my friend, I'm doing well."

"Ah oui oui. Cette semaine, nous boulangerons le patisserie!"
"Yes yes. This week, we are baking patisserie!"

"Voulez-vous boulange avec moi ce soir?"
"RUN!"

"Quest-que ce?"
"RUN! THE ZOMBIES ARE COMING! TAKE THE BAKERS AND RUN!!!"

"QUOI --- WHAT?!?!? Erm - BAKERS! Come with us!"

"I don't think Lazarus heard! Go get Lazarus before the zombies get them!"

"...no, they lost. Let them die. Save the winners."

Image

All the other regions flee. The bakers huddle together in the safetent, watching the non-safetent from afar.

Luckily, the Warzones have the perfect distraction for them. Warzone Airspace speaks loudly, though only just loud enough to cut above the sounds of crackling flame and the tent collapsing. "Congratulations, the Rejected Realms! The public loved your cupcakes, so much that someone even baked one!" The Rejected Realms grins a wolfish grin, and prepares to receive copious praise. But then Warzone Sandbox puts an arm around the South Pacific, turning the quivering region away from the window. "But one region had enough votes to overshadow all of that... our Star Baker this week is... the South Pacific!!"

"But - but what about Lazarus?" mutters Osiris.

The Pacific speaks coldly. "Lazarus succumbed to its Warzone nature. It was made to burn. We must ignore it, and fend for ourselves. Forget Lazarus."

(Later, a matchbox was found in the Pacific's pocket, and Lazarus was found to have been handcuffed to the mixing stand. Investigations are still ongoing. The Great NationStates Bake Off has not disqualified the Pacific yet due to currently inconclusive proof, and the fact that there are still some good NPO-related puns to make.)

Warzone Sandbox and Warzone Airspace share an uncomfortable glance, before Airspace speaks up. "This was going to be patisserie week, but we need the tent to be deep cleaned, so, erm..."

One week later

Image

"...ready, set, bake!"

THE PACIFIC - FRANCOS S-PAIN AU CHOCOLAT

Image
Recipe

"These pastries require such precision that they can only be made by the finest Poskrebychef."

THE NORTH PACIFIC - MAD-JACK-ELEINES

Image
Recipe

"So small, you can eat them in just one great bight."

THE REJECTED REALMS - DIPLOMATICO

Image
Recipe

"Making these delicate layers of pastry requires harmony, guydance, and a lot of soul."

THE SOUTH PACIFIC - PASTELS DE NAKA

Image
Recipe

"Traditional Portuguese Vietnoisserie. You could even call it Roavintage."

THE WEST PACIFIC - CROISSAINT MARK

Image
Recipe

"Raw pastry? More like roar pastry. If someone says these don't taste great, then they're lion."

OSIRIS - DETECTIVE FIG ROLLS

Image
Recipe

"A delicious recipe from the Come-eat-ic Republic."

THE EAST PACIFIC - MILLE FEUILLEDELE

Image
Recipe

"There's a reason our flag is a flour."

Who will go home? Who will be Star Baker? Your region kneads your support!

Vote in the thread poll for the regions you think had the tastiest bakes!

You can also contribute by submitting recipe ideas, pun suggestions about certain regions, or your own baked goods, for extra points for the region of your choice. (it's waaaaay harder trying to think up all these puns than it looks!)

The region with the most votes will become Star Baker. The region with the least will have its entire WA population moved to St Abbaddon. If they aren't all already there, that is.

Tune in next Tuesday for Pudding Week!

(Using the American definition of a dessert with a soft and creamy consistency. But maybe a Christmas pudding will get involved?!)
