Because of Luminumbra's position at the edge of the galaxy, we are situated as a de facto gateway to the wider universe. As the State wishes, opening anew is the Lumin Starport, which will serve as the gateway to and from the galaxy. We believe that the Universe is a fascinating place, yet difficult to explore, we wish to close that gap between the dreams and the realities of the travelers, by giving them the means to travel where they want, when they want within the vastness of space.
Note: We offer warp-travel for civilian use only. Military Use of the Starport must be approved and signed via a treaty.
One might ask
"Why would I use a starport, when my own ships already have the capacity to use warp technology?"
Because 1. Warp technology costs a lot of energy, and 2. Warp technology for the average passenger tourist, or migrant ship is very very very hard to do. Sure military ships might be able to use warp technology; but unless you're one of those civilizations that can change the laws of physics--thereby allowing you to streamline the use of a warp-drive--Joe and his 3 kids aren't going be using a warp drive anytime soon. Neither is the small business trader going to be using the warp technology. Chances are, even ships with warp drives might want a place to rest while their warp-drive cools down. And that's where the star port comes in.
The Lumin Intergalactic Starport has advanced systems that can warp any ship to any galaxy for an extremely low cost, and for relatively marginal energy use.
Truly A Feat Of Luminumbrian Engineering
What happens is that nations that buy a slot will have up to three warp gates (per slot) to the starport constructed anywhere within their own space borders. These warp gates will be small, and cheap, allowing for transport to the Intergalactic Starport, or to any other constructed warp gate registered within the Starport's systems (Especially useful for cheap travel within your own territories). The systems also recognize extrasolar borders, and their owner's list of authorized traders. They are not typically fitted for military use either, so there is no need to worry about invasion through these warp gates either. From the Intergalactic Starport, civilian ships can cheaply and safely access other parts of the universe.
In terms of Slots. There are 20 Civilian Terminals available, 10 Cargo Terminals, and 5 Private Hangars. And each slot can support up to 100 ships at any given time. Private slots are smaller and can support up to 10 private ships at any given time. Private Hangars are not for mass passenger transit, usually rather for company operations such as transporting employees, or CEOs, or for personal use and the like.
