Many countries have figures that are indisputably regarded as the "father of the nation" or a similar title that basically implies they're extremely important figures in your country's history, helping to found your modern day state. Examples of this include Mustafa Kemal Ataturk (who's name means Father of the Turks), Nelson Mandela in South Africa, and Lee Kuan Yew of Singapore. Does your nation have a similar figure in its history?

In Ensuraya, the title of Father of the Nation was bestowed upon Sutikno Hermawan, a rising politician during the first Ensurayan State between 1934-1942, and an important figure in the anti-Japanese resistance between 1942-1945. Following the National People's Liberation Army's (NPLA) victories, and Japanese withdrawal after the war ended, Hermawan assumed the role of interim Pemandu (Guide) of Ensuraya. In 1946, the first elections were held, and Hermawan was elected president with 68.5% of the vote, and his party, the Republican Democratic Party (RDP/PDR) won a majority in the Senate and the Dewan Rakyat. Hermawan was president between 1946 and 1958, serving the maximum three terms, and served as Chairman of the Senate between 1958 and 1963, when he died.

Hermawan's death sent shockwaves through the nation, he was just 57 years old and had done so much for the country. His death was mourned for three weeks, and every year his life is celebrated on Sutikno Hermawan Day, the 10th of October. His 12 years as President, and further five years as Chairman of the Senate saw Ensuraya modernise and transform into a powerful, secular and liberal democracy. While Hermawan could be considered dictatorial, he was a fan of the quote "the ends justify the means", and the ends were certainly magnificent.

Lillorainen has two Fathers - a modern one and a mythological one.

The modern Father of the nation is Siegfried Heiderich, called "Siggi" - he was the first President of the Federation from 1981 to 1984. Born in 1919 in Sielrath (Marrania; today State of Rigesöer), he was the Supreme Commander of the Marranian troups during the 1970s Civil War, supporting the Federal Republican forces until he suddenly decided to side with the resistance fighters of the other states. Due to his activity in the unification process, he is considered a key figure of the Federation's founding. He resigned in 1984 due to health issues and passed away in 1986.

Since most of the Islands were originally settled by Vikings, the mythological Father is Aegir, the Ruler of the Oceans, who is said to have directed the sailors to the Islands. Additionally, He is said to be a friend of the æsir, the Asgard-based pantheon, and regularly hosts parties for the Gods serving ale brewed in a giant pot - perfectly fitting the role of founding a nation like Lillorainen.

The Founding Father of the SUSR is Roaldin Amundsven, who was a revolutionary from 1895 until his death in 1930 as a member of the Democratic Workers Party and he contributed in the Wawakanise Civil War (1918-1920) against the Tsarist Loyalists, which would lead to the creation of the Supranational Union in 1920.

Although the actual founder of the unified Roelandian state was Roel the great (A name he adopted), the king of the city state of Roelici and leader of the Rhotanian confederacy who defeated the empire of Quinifar after which he went on to integrate both the confederacy and the empire into one single nation (similar in structure to the Austro-hungarian empire. This structure is no longer in use today but that is another story), the person who is considered the real "father of the nation" is king Roel "the ancient"(The guy Roel the great named himself after for propaganda reasons). He is the founder of the ancient city of Roelici (named after him), the first city-state of the Roelandian people (who in turn named themselves after the city). There are several statues of him around the country such as this one. They were erected to remind the people of their common cultural origin post-unification.

Originally an aristocrat member of another Hispanic nation's royal court in Europe, he led a failed rebellion over personal bad blood & political feuding with that nation's king. After the defeat of his large army after a series of gruesome battles he fled north.

He & his Hispanic army conquered the lesser native Justosian army by winning the battle of Avalon. Married into the native population. Thru shrewd political maneuvering, sheer charisma, & some force, he was crowned the first King of a fully unified Justosia on February 2, 1700.

His exploits as a general in the Border Wars established his mythos as a brilliant tactician and an elusive shadowy figure. When the Monarchy was unable to properly fuction its generally taught that he heard the call to action from the people and used his knowledge to overthrow the king. He then established the People's Autonomous Socialist Republic of Sardhul.

If you as the Average Sardhuli you'll get a veriaty of answers. However generally a main figures are reprasented the most. Ismaaciil Palestrina, Ismaacill was a half Sardhuli half Italian who grew up during the early colonial period. Raised a chtistian at the Abbazia di San Agopito near the town of Xeehicyil (Acquarossa). He eventually abandoned the monastic life after the Massacure at the al-Uqlidisi Mosque by members of the local Truppe Coloniali Division and members of the local Holy Cross Society. These people openfire on protesting muslims at their mosque after weeks of contentious striking and protesting. 238 people died, from that point the young man named Abramo de Palestrina abandoned his faith and went wondering in the desert. He was eventually taken in by a local traviling Imam named Abu Raamaan who took in the boy. Soon Abramo converted to Islam and gave himself the name Ismaaciil Qassim ibn Solaiman. He traveled the countryside helping to spread both his unique variation of islam as well as sowing anti-colonial sentiment through his religious exploits. He wrote several books under his Pen Name Ismaaciil Palestrina which used literary and rhetorical techniques from both European and Islamic sources to argue agsinst colonialisation. He aldo wrote books on government theory and theology. His Salaimani order grew to be one of the largest religious movements within the old colony. However at the age of 45 he was killed by members of a rival Shia group in the city of Guulceen. His legacy lives on modtly in the gorm of his religious teachings.

The Father of the Nation in Gandoor is widely accepted to be Chiba Masato, who was the first Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of Gandoor from 1904 to 1910.

Masato was born on 17 April 1856 in Jun-Tun, Nzardom of Gandoor and was the son of two Japanese immigrants who had only recently moved to Gandoor during the 'First Wave of Japanese Immigration' in 1855. During his youth, anti-foreign sentiment amongst the white majority was at an all-time high and, at the age of 16 in 1872, he was forced to stop attending school due to the passage of a law in Jun-Tun prohibiting the education of non-whites. (He would, however, continue his education in secret by borrowing textbooks from some of his white friends)

In 1885, at the age of 29, Masato would join the Gandoor Communist Party, inspired by their ideals of overthrowing the monarchy and establishing a new state where all would be treated equally. He would quickly rise through the ranks of the party and was elected leader in 1892. As party leader, he would use his own views of pacifism and non-violence to transform the Communist Party from one which advocated violent revolution against the monarchy (which led to them being threatened with being forcibly dissolved by royal authorities more than once) to one which would advocate peaceful revolution in order to transition Gandoor to a republic, primarily by working to get Communist politicians in the Gandoorese Parliament. He also had the Communist Party work with the New Democratic Party, another political party which advocated for republicanism and had previously been considered a 'party of the bourgeoisie' by previous Communist leaders,

In 1900, the Gandoor Revolution began, led by Masato and the Communist Party, and would last until 1902, when Alexander II, Nzard of Gandoor, abdicated the throne and transferred all control of the government to the revolutionaries. Masato, in his position as party leader, became Revolutionary Leader of Gandoor.

In 1904, the first elections for the Forum of the Democratic Republic of Gandoor were held and Masato's Communist Party won 513 seats against the NDP's 487 seats and on 12 October 1904, Chiba Masato was formally appointed by the Forum as Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of Gandoor. Masato would only serve for one term, resigning as Leader of the Gandoor Communist Party in 1907 and leaving the office of Prime Minister in 1910, at the age of 54. This would be the end of his formal political career, which only lasted twenty-five years.

After leaving office, Masato continued to support progressive causes and became a prominent member of the early gay rights movement in Gandoor, advocating for the repeal of the law that criminalized homosexuality and for the passage of laws to protect gays and lesbians from discrimination. While the law against homosexuality (which existed prior to the establishment of the Democratic Republic) was repealed in 1919, it would not be until 1967 that discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation would be made illegal.

Masato retired from public life at the age of 71 in 1927 and retired to his apartment in Gandoor City. His wife, Megumi, announced in December 1934 that Masato was suffering from pneumonia and he would ultimately pass away on 8 January 1935 at the age of 78 due to his illness. Two days after his death, Prime Minister Robert S. Stevenson, Masato's successor who had been in office since 1910, would announce a National Week of Mourning for the Father of Modern Gandoor and all national flags were ordered to be displayed at half-staff. Following a state funeral in his honour, Masato's remains were cremated and placed in his family grave, alongside the ashes of his mother and father.

Since his death, there have been numerous memorials created for Masato: there are thousands of statues of him (although not all were sculpted after his death), his childhood home has been converted into a museum about his life, there are numerous streets and schools named after him (to the extent is joked that everyone in Gandoor has gone to a school named after him), and twenty-three cities, towns, and villages named after him (the largest of which, Masatograd, has a population of over 1 million). Notably however, despite many attempts even before his death, his birthday is not recognized as a national holiday. This is because, when asked if he would support the establishment of 17 April as 'Masato's Birthday' in 1920, Masato himself stated, 'No, I would not support any establishment of my birthday as a holiday for Gandoor. I want people to remember my legacy and what I have done for Gandoor, not merely the fact that I was born. Celebrating someone's birthday as a holiday is the realm of monarchists and other so-called important people.'

Though if you want to go further, you can blame pin the leaders of the Cold War as the Fathers and Mothers, because without them going trigger happy with nuclear weapons, Valentijn wouldn't have proposed Project Resolute, and the entire history of Valentine Z would be non-existent.

The father of modern-day Luziyca is Huswa Varanken, who united the major powers of Mikrago, Mirak, and Bethlehem from 1860-1863 after overthrowing the Mikragan monarchy and became the first President of the Christian Republic of Luziyca.

[The Graceful Isles]

The woman largely held as the mother of the Graceful Isles is Sister Mary Andrews. Who was a leading figure in the movement to flee from the Old Country (I haven't quite decided which country they were fleeing from) and became the first Pontiff of the Graceful Isles. There are even calls for her to be granted the titles of Mother, and Saint, but those would likely be granted to her after her death. She's 78, and still alive at the moment.

King Paul, the founder of the nation and father to King Alexander, is seen as the Father of Coconut Palm Island.

He was among the group that first traveled to the nation to truly become free. When the group got together to write the Island's Charter, his ideas stood out, and he was nominated King by the first Senate, after the nation was officially founded in 1972. He ruled until 2000, when he, after struggling with depression, took his own life. The nation, at the time of the founding, wanted to make him the King in an absolute monarchy. He talked them out of it instead instituting a constitutional monarchy. 97% of his Royal Decrees have never been overturned or revoked-- an amazing number, because Royal Decrees are intended to be temporary, easy-to-nullify measures to address a problem while the Senate is still drafting a law. Although he was no legal genius, he always operated on the principle that people deserve freedom, equality, and dignity.

Of course, he was still very human. Before taking his own life, he struggled with substance abuse issues. He was a horrible public speaker, always becoming extremely nervous. And he often had a short temper with anyone who was even the least bit corrupt-- even if they were the President of a nation 30 times larger than ours. But, despite all this, a poll conducted just hours before his suicide showed his approval rating at 93%.
