Raising the age to buy firearms to 21 is unconstitutional and should be grounds to depose and tried Jerry Brown and his cronies for treason.

I'm not a fan of age restrictions on any enumerated negative right and feel any age restriction is unconstitutional.

I sure hope voters in California wake up soon and vote him and associates out of office so they can get back to being more constitutional rights friendly as well as making people not pissed off.

I fail to see the need to stock up guns against tyranny. I mean, guns can't fight against bombs or cruise missiles or tanks can they? The government would crush the armed militias.

It's more reasonable to have a gun for self-defense from a criminal, than against the government. It's simple paranoia that gun manufacturers want their buyers to believe.

Because you cannot control an entire country and its people with tanks, jets, drones, and cruise missiles. A fighter jet or a tank or a cruise missile cannot stand a street corner. It cannot enforce a no-assembly edict. It cannot kick in your door at 3am and search for contraband. None of these things maintain the police state that is necessary to subjugate a people.

Those weapons are great for flattening countries, glassing cities, killing thousands. Read: the things that no government wants to do to its own people, no matter how evil they are. Tienanmen Square was a last resort not a first choice. You need infrastructure and civilians to be a tyrannical asshole. If the President decides to turn everything outside Washington DC into glass there's nothing a rifle can do to stop him. But we're not talking about resisting Dr. Doom. We're talking about the kind of tyrant that we've seen time and time again. The kind that uses police.

Police are necessary to maintain a police state. Boots on the ground. And no matter how many police you have, they will always be outnumbered by civilians, which is why in a police state it is absolutely vital that your police be well armed and your civilians have nothing but their limp dicks.

But, and here's the important part, when every random Tom Dick and Harry could have a rifle in the closet, the police are now outnumbered and outgunned, and there goes your police state.

See: every fucking insurgency the US has ever tried to fight ever.

Ignoring the fact that the US military would fracture faster then thin ice under a fat kid during any sort of revolution scenario, or that the National Guard and Reserves would cease to exist almost overnight due to mass desertions when activated....

Quick Google search tells me that there are an estimated 45-50% of Americans who own firearms in the country, with a population of roughly 325 Million people. That roughly 146.25-162.5 Million gun owners that also according to the Independent.co.uk own roughly 40% of the worlds firearms and ammunition.

If even only 1% of that number actually actively form a resistance movement against the government during times of duress, you are looking at an armed insurgency numbering anywhere from 1.46 to 1.62 Million members, making it the largest armed insurgency in recorded history sitting on what Im sure will becomes the worlds most flooded black market of readily available arms and munitions.

Also, if a man sitting in a cave using 60+ year old machinery without blueprints or access to quality materials can build some truly stunning copies of modern firearms that would work in a pinch in any sort of actual conflict, then imagine what we could do here with the resources and technology we have readily available.

Just saying.

Yeah, in the case of an actual tyrannical government, short of glassing the entire country, the Armed Forces can't do shit against a civilian uprising.

Well, not so much against "the government" so much as small low-level government officials abusing their authority (and not minor infractions, more like the stuff that occured in Texas and Arizona last month). It's not done often, but it's best to keep that option on the table and clearly visible.
