Theocracy Discussion Thread

Postby El-Amin Caliphate » Tue Oct 02, 2018 8:08 pm

ُالسَّّلامٌ عَلَيْكُم وَرَحْمَةٌ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُه
Assalamu 'Alaikum wa RaHmatullahi wa Barakatuhu
May the peace, mercy of Allah SWT be upon you
بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمَانِ الرَّحٍيم
Bismillahi rraHmaani rraHeem
In the name of Allah SWT, most gracious, most merciful

Welcome to the Theocracy Discussion Thread! This is where all the cool Theocrats get to hang out and discuss the merits of the unification of church/masjid/synagogue/temple/etc. and state. We can also debate on which theocratic system is best and debate with non-theocrats. Ok, now for my hot take:

When I 1st started getting interested in theocracies, I made up an ideology called a Democratic Theocracy. This factbook I made on it describes how it works: https://www.nationstates.net/nation=el- ... /id=677140
No lol, this has nothing to do with the Mormon Theodemocracy, I didn't even know about the ideology when I came up with this.
I still kinda like this ideology, but it's not 100 in line with Al-Islam, which led me to Islamism. Keep on mind, this isn't the Saudi-style nor ISIS-style Islamism we all know and hate. This is moderate Islamism, and yes, there are different types. Also, I don't necessarily agree with all the moderate Islamism in that wiki link, but then again, I haven't read it in a while.

So, yeah, I guess that's it. Have at it, y'all! Pls be respectful.

I’m deeply and fundamentally opposed to theocracy
Secular rule is established to keep all people under the same law no matter the faith, and theocracy at its best means different laws for different people and at its worst is downright discriminatory
Religious law should never override secular law

Theocracy has almost always ended in disaster and relies on ignorance and self-righteousness disguised as piety and humility. There have been some Buddhist theocracies, such as Tibet, and Buddhist countries with blasphemy laws, such as Sri Lanka. But they forgot the true meaning of Buddhism in favor of pride and self-aggrandizement. I will never accept any type of theocracy, especially from my own religion.

A theocracy is basically a dictatorship under a more dangerous name. But on the other hand I'm probably slowly making my nation into a theocracy
This nation does not represent my views. Or maybe it does, who knows

Especially because not all lamas are monks, meaning that they're not required to be celibate and can start families. Which increases the risk of nepotism and corruption.

We've spent the good part of our entire history trying to escape from the dictates of made up supreme beings telling us what to do. To regress is essentially insanity.

I'm not sure I even wrote it right, and it's probably an archaic form. Basically it says "if you meet the Buddha, kill the Buddha."
