'Northerner's', humans that live in the north with trees and forests are generally similar to average humans in terms of physical appearance, 'Southerner's' are tougher. Living in the frigid south, it is said that a woman from the south as a soldier can outclass a male soldier from the north. This is because of a difference in ideals.

The north is a generally cushier place with more luxuries, which means there isn't much of a need to fight or train unless they had to for a living or as a sport which was usually quite expensive unless they were of the aristocratic class. Despite this, and the fact that he lives in Schwarzburgh, albeit in a much nicer sector, he still continues ahead with his plans to reform and make the Confederation a superpower in it's own right to stand up against the Empire.

His role covers economic planning, military and civilian production monitoring along with the charting and relocation of trade routes that connect the Confederation and other nations together. Thus, making him in a sense the Minister of Finance although his role covers more than that. Despite this, his standing among the grand council is almost equal to that of Valerie as he has a direct say in the economic policies of the entire nation and almost controls the entire financial sector.

As the Director of Research and Development his place in the council is nearly non-existent but in the military almost no one can interfere with his executive decisions. Rather than being based on the ground, Hanford is based off the fleet's flagship airship, the Elysion, and has made it his moving fortress/home where most equipment is tested. He does however have a research ship out at sea, the Alison which was the namesake of the syndrome, and on the ground in the south has a base that is shared with Valerie.

When it first met the Empire, the small Principality was no match for it and as such simply continued paying large amounts of tribute in any form and way to ensure that they wouldn't be invaded. With the rise of Nihei the great the Confederacy slowly sought to turn itself from a vassal state to fellow ally, using it's wide maritime and scientific knowledge as a bartering system. Eventually, once relations turned from vassal to ally the Confederacy began looking south. At the time of departure the Confederacy was ruled by 10 houses, with Xanthius historically holding the most amount of power. This resulted in the emperor being from the same house all the time and the other houses only having a 2nd tier authority. This resulted in what is now known as the great fracture.

Starting following the assassination of the emperor, the year was roughly 836. The entire nation was split between the Confederate Government and the Republic. The Confederate government covers all 5 houses currently ruling, including house Xanthius, while the remaining houses under the banner of house Scharnal formed the Republic. The Confederate government sought to maintain status quo while the Republic instead pushed for new reforms that would effectively abolish the monarch as an official ruling power. Starting with the incident sparked off between house Nethia and Velssen, in which Nethian soldiers were fired upon by Velssen soldiers resulting in disintegration of any chance of diplomacy and the official start of the great Fracture.

At the beginning of the war, Cantarella only covered half of it's modern day territory. This meant that almost every house was on the brink of being invaded and pushed back in their own fronts. The first battle that took place was the battle of Ruhm, today the site is located a few kilometers south of the capital. Back then this battle was instrumental as it helped establish early Republic victories. At the battle, Republic forces managed to push back the Confederacy such that it was thought that within a week or so Schwarzburgh would fall. By a stroke of luck however, constant bad weather due to the season kept the Confederate capital from falling to Republic siege. Before long, the Confederacy had mustered enough troops from all over to finally make a push against the Republic. This battle would be known only as the 'Elianam' era, where the Confederate government and Republic would see most of the war's heaviest fighting under Elianam Xanthius, commander of the Confederate army.

By 840, both sides hit a stalemate. This was only broken when house Edania conducted a massive effort known as Operation: Lunaris. This involved the mass assassination of the 4 house's heads and families. Although this secured a confederate victory, this has been a controversial topic as it basically was a mass murder which included women and children. Regardless, following the Confederate victory the land was split up between the few remaining houses following the other 4 being dissolved for treason against the state. Xanthius took Schwarzburg, Nethia up took the direct north while Palladium and Asvia flanked the capital on the East. To the south Edania stood.

Soon, by 846 seeing the mass executions of the other noble houses and the mass reign of terror the house enacted Cantarella from a Principality officially became what is now known as a Royal Confederation. This was to show that rather than be a united Federation with forced membership each house was united in it's own right with each other. This would turn into the golden age of exploration as the states expanded in size and knowledge. The house of Nethia would lead in the field of science, pioneering the first airships and being the first few to strap weapons to it. At the same time the Palladium family led the army on a massive campaign of expansion south and East, expanding the territory that each house governed. This has resulted in Asvia, Palladium and Edania being the largest in terms of size.

However, this had all come at a heavy price. Due to the war magic had been generally restricted and to date is almost outlawed. This has caused the Confederacy to be lacking in magical research and weaponry, using more conventional means as the house of Nethia and the others had made a special vow that in short rejected the use of magic in the battlefield for respect and honor.

Beyond that, internally the nation improved as well. Industrialization and control of the markets and companies had been regulating the conditions of the common man to prevent major poverty. In 1100, the Siegfried network was revealed. It was a massive network of spiraling tunnels, all connected underground with each node in the network being a massive cluster of AA cannons and machine guns. At the same time, the Victorian network in Schwarzburgh was revealed. It was basically a smaller version of the network, more connected and with even more AA emplacements. The nation has also improved in terms of military power, Airship armadas dot the sky while out at sea few steamships exist to date save for the Alison.

With the full decline of the Empire imminent, the Confederation looks north as it sees itself as one of the major powers on the continent, ready to use it's massive airship armadas to challenge any who stand in their path.

The difference between this and the naval defense corps is that the navy only defends their own emplacements and territories, while the defense corps is extended out over major regions of interests and the northern border.

-Emperor Athos von Xanthius: The reigning monarch and emperor of the entire Confederation, Emperor Athos is among the hundreds emperors of the Xanthius dynasty to ascend to the throne. Ascending after his father passed the scepter and crown onto him. Emperor Athos has made many reforms of the country. From southern mineral expeditions to reformation of the reigning monarch system, he was also the first king to authorize the establishment of the Confederate Security Bureau to secure and stabilize his rule. Despite this he is not very popular in certain places, as his industrial reforms have destroyed the lives of many, polluted the areas and has caused poverty to him an all time high. Despite this, and the fact that he lives in Schwarzburgh, albeit in a much nicer sector, he still continues ahead with his plans to reform and make the Confederation a superpower in it's own right to stand up against the Empire.

-Crown Princess Valerie Edania: The crown princess of the house of Edania, Valerie is the 3rd matriarch of the house to rule following her senile father's death. She serves as one of the reigning monarchs and has an additional duty assigned to her by the emperor to cleanse the state of all it's enemies. This includes revolutionaries, dissenters, anarchists and cultists. Her age remains undisclosed under the rule of the house. So far her political career began before her rise to position of Matriarch, as she served previously as the political cleaning house to assure the Confederate government's stability against all internal threats. To date, beyond serving as Matriarch of Edania she is also Director of the Confederate Security Bureau. Her home and base is located closer to the frozen regions.

-Prince Maximilian Asvia: The prince of the house of Asvia, Maximilian represents the house in the grand council of reigning monarchs after succeeding his father who had retired from old age. His duty from the emperor is to serve in a sense as the brains of the entire Confederation. His role covers economic planning, military and civilian production monitoring along with the charting and relocation of trade routes that connect the Confederation and other nations together. Thus, making him in a sense the Minister of Finance although his role covers more than that. Despite this, his standing among the grand council is almost equal to that of Valerie as he has a direct say in the economic policies of the entire nation and almost controls the entire financial sector.

-Crown Prince Hanford Von Nethia: The Crown Prince of house Nethia, Hanford is not a representative of the house but rather serves as one of the Confederation's most important aristocrats. His main role covers the research and development of new military technology, from improved weapons to possibly mounting either cannons or bombs onto airships to give them the edge to surpass steamships. As the Director of Research and Development his place in the council is nearly non-existent but in the military almost no one can interfere with his executive decisions. Rather than being based on the ground, Hanford is based off the fleet's flagship airship, the Elysion, and has made it his moving fortress/home where most equipment is tested. He does however have a research ship out at sea, the Alison which was the namesake of the syndrome, and on the ground in the south has a base that is shared with Valerie.

-Crown Princess Yuria Palladium: The Crown Princess of the house Palladium, Amelia is a special representative in the sense that rather than an actual diplomat she is in fact Head of the general staff and is the backbone of maintaining Cantarella's massive defense network. From the navy to army and special police, Yuria has eyes nearly everywhere in order to ensure maximum efficiency. She had succeeded the position of general staff after the previous one died off and as deputy she stepped up and took over. This resulted in a massive wave of anti-corruption sweeps, purging out any corrupt officials to ensure maximum efficiency of the entire system.

Location on map: Somewhere along the Southern forests, bordering directly to the coast, extending towards down towards the direct south in snow. From the imperial border down is a good estimate.

At it's core, Schwarzburgh is the capital city of the Confederation, hosting multiple factories and corporations which produces the majority of the confederate's armada of airships and weaponry. At it's peak Schwarzburgh held 10% of the population. It is however, heavily defended by multiple fleets of airships and a complex air defense network that surpasses that of the network covering the nation.

History
One of the largest spiraling nations to modern date, the Confederation has it's roots long before most nations. Having it's origins at the start of the 1,100 year history of the empire the Confederation was originally a Principality, after a few princes and princess of minor houses escaped the Western Continent's war and destruction, fleeing to the East. Eventually setting up store in what is today's Schwarzburgh. When it first met the Empire, the small Principality was no match for it and as such simply continued paying large amounts of tribute in any form and way to ensure that they wouldn't be invaded. Trade also occurred disproportionately between both parties.

With the rise of Nihei the great the Confederacy slowly sought to turn itself from a vassal state to fellow ally, using it's wide maritime and scientific knowledge as a bartering system. Eventually, once relations turned from vassal to ally the Confederacy began looking south. At the time of departure the Confederacy was ruled by 10 houses, with Xanthius historically holding the most amount of power. This resulted in the emperor being from the same house all the time and the other houses only having a 2nd tier authority. This resulted in what is now known as the great fracture.

Starting following the assassination of the emperor, the year was roughly 836. The entire nation was split between the Confederate Government and the Republic. The Confederate government covers all 5 houses currently ruling, including house Xanthius, while the remaining houses under the banner of house Scharnal formed the Republic. The Confederate government sought to maintain status quo while the Republic instead pushed for new reforms that would effectively abolish the monarch as an official ruling power. Starting with the incident sparked off between house Nethia and Velssen, in which Nethian soldiers were fired upon by Velssen soldiers resulting in disintegration of any chance of diplomacy and the official start of the great Fracture.

At the beginning of the war, Cantarella only covered half of it's modern day territory. This meant that almost every house was on the brink of being invaded and pushed back in their own fronts. The first battle that took place was the battle of Ruhm, today the site is located a few kilometers south of the capital. Back then this battle was instrumental as it helped establish early Republic victories. At the battle, Republic forces managed to push back the Confederacy such that it was thought that within a week or so Schwarzburgh would fall. By a stroke of luck however, constant bad weather due to the season kept the Confederate capital from falling to Republic siege. Before long, the Confederacy had mustered enough troops from all over to finally make a push against the Republic. This battle would be known only as the 'Elianam' era, where the Confederate government and Republic would see most of the war's heaviest fighting under Elianam Xanthius, commander of the Confederate army.

By 840, both sides hit a stalemate. This was only broken when house Edania conducted a massive effort known as Operation: Lunaris. This involved the mass assassination of the 4 house's heads and families. Although this secured a confederate victory, this has been a controversial topic as it basically was a mass murder which included women and children. Regardless, following the Confederate victory the land was split up between the few remaining houses following the other 4 being dissolved for treason against the state. Xanthius took Schwarzburg, Nethia up took the direct north while Palladium and Asvia flanked the capital on the East. To the south Edania stood.

Soon, by 846 seeing the mass executions of the other noble houses and the mass reign of terror the house enacted Cantarella from a Principality officially became what is now known as a Royal Confederation. This was to show that rather than be a united Federation with forced membership each house was united in it's own right with each other. This would turn into the golden age of exploration as the states expanded in size and knowledge. The house of Nethia would lead in the field of science, pioneering the first airships and being the first few to strap weapons to it. At the same time the Palladium family led the army on a massive campaign of expansion south and East, expanding the territory that each house governed. This has resulted in Asvia, Palladium and Edania being the largest in terms of size.

However, this had all come at a heavy price. Due to the war magic had been generally restricted and to date is almost outlawed. This has caused the Confederacy to be lacking in magical research and weaponry, using more conventional means as the house of Nethia and the others had made a special vow that in short rejected the use of magic in the battlefield for respect and honor.

Beyond that, internally the nation improved as well. Industrialization and control of the markets and companies had been regulating the conditions of the common man to prevent major poverty. In 1100, the Siegfried network was revealed. It was a massive network of spiraling tunnels, all connected underground with each node in the network being a massive cluster of AA cannons and machine guns. At the same time, the Victorian network in Schwarzburgh was revealed. It was basically a smaller version of the network, more connected and with even more AA emplacements. The nation has also improved in terms of military power, Airship armadas dot the sky while out at sea few steamships exist to date save for the Alison.

With the full decline of the Empire imminent, the Confederation looks north as it sees itself as one of the major powers on the continent, ready to use it's massive airship armadas to challenge any who stand in their path.

Yes, but not in the way one might expect.

In this world, even the most technologically advanced of nations are still at least a century or two away from harnessing electricity; as such, while radios do exist, they're either powered by steam (these are usually not very reliable, and are used only to send messages in the form of Morse-type codes) or by magic (in which case they're just like a crystal sphere that can be used by anybody but can only transmit voices).

As such, long distance communication is still done via envoy, and the use of "radio" is limited to intra-national communication and for military purposes.

Well, since I have only about 10% of the population of the Empire, that I'm part of, I only wanted to claim 10% of the land. An while I guess that I could also have claimed a more solid blob, that would not really fit the background, since it did not start as a local lord, that expanded his borders but rather was a society inside the Empire whose lands were decided by the question of which nobles decided that the blood of the covenant is thicker then the water of the womb, so to speak.

If someone else wants lands that kind of overlap with my central claims, I have no problem of them getting adjusted, as long as it stays roughly in the same region (northern part, eastern coast).

Also I updated my app, seeing my neighbor to the north, I realizing that Dragonborn migrants are actually a significant minority of my population. Wolfpeople I though I would have turned out to be isolated instances of Lycanthropy are controlled by the Illuminated leaders with all force!

Religion History and stuff done, too. There are still some things that I have in my head that I want to write down but so far I think the important bits are covered and some of the points clearly need approval, like the fact, that I have an airforce while also being technologically behind the state of the art, thus utilizing dudes sitting on Gryphons to attack eventual Airships that would attack me.

Since I just saw missiles mentioned: My take would be "Yeah, but don't think of a modern missile with warhead and solid fuel propellant in a stabilized metal casing, think of the Hwacha." ... And I just googled and it seams some polish inventor came up with stabilization fins in 1650, so in this world it might just be available, too. (Though arguably, it did not really become the big hit at the time, simply because it really is not that cost efficient compared with a cannon that you can shoot over and over again (Though arguably, there probably are some scenarios where the alpha-strike is important, too, there they would shine, I guess)).

ORIGINS
In the many hundreds of years before the rise of the Johrids, the three great empires of the west were united under a strong line of emperors, the Sunset Empire it was called. However, as the Johrid empire found out, all empires must fall, and it happened to the empire of the Sunset through a decadent emperor. He sired many bastards from his concubines, as well as many trueborn pretenders. And with his death, the tinderbox was struck, and the fires of civil war raged across the land.

It is said the firstborn son was murdered, but what they didn't know, was that the first was born with a lookalike twin, and they both dressed with similarity, and so when the civil war broke out, the second son, the spare, sacrificed himself to let the firstborn escape the mill and into the forge, which was his travel to the east with his large retainer as well as a sizable amount of reasonable people that knew the empire would fall, and the forge they went through. They faced the dark eastern jungles where many fell prey to insane tribesmen and their dark gods. They waded through a marsh of saltwater, where disease ran rampant. They pushed through an empty desert without any oases. And in spite of all this, they pushed onward, they then faced the greatest test yet. They came across the Sandwater, a river that ran across the Empty Quarter. Many planned to settle there in spite of the warlike tribesmen, but the emperor made a prophesy of a veritable paradise past the stormy mountains south of the river.

This caused a massive insurrection, and the party was split 30/70 in favor of the rebels. And so the rest of the party went south, through the mountains, where 10 of the 30% died. Then they came, and they saw, and they saw that it was good.

In the woods they found warrior women of beautiful complexion and high in stature, and when the emperor's son married the strongest of them, he helped her in conquering the rest, which he subdued by marrying off to his retainers. This is where the imperial side of the story ended for now, and the Easterner story begins.

After having their little plot foiled, a Schwarzburgh noble and his plotters, as well as a sizable amount of people following them were exiled to the west, where they were expected to die to storms. What the exiles didn't expect was a forested shore, and occupied by advanced people. Here they were welcomed, and their people's cultures were mixed into a greater one.

The usually peaceful Yellow Kingdom was introduced to offensive war in name of conquest by these white skins, and they began a massive war of conquest across the peninsula, which ended with the death of the warring king, and the succession of the steward prince, now king. This king, the first recorded king, Shi Huangdi, established peace in all the land, and the sciences and magic advanced.

During the era of the Johrid heyday, the Kings of the Yellow Kingdom traded a lot with the fledging empire, spice, technology, weaponry, nothing was left out of the Yellow Kingdom's trade. This of course introduced them to many differing techologies that improved their living conditions, their abilty to trade and farm, and of course, the improvement of their ability to commit organized violence.

During NE12, a lowborn was born in the slums of a city, his name being Hong. This man was born with magic and would work hard to learn about everything that he could see, and he would graduate from a prestigious school due to his efforts. He later on would lay the foundation for Magic Logicism. By his death the philosophy had been changed into a religion and was widespread.

Much time has passed since his death, and his descendant Nolan Bu Huangdi the Second, declares himself the warrior king reborn, and declares the preparation of an invasion towards the east, declaring: "The time has come and so have I.".
