Welcome to the 73rd Cup of Harmony, being hosted by the Equestrian States and Cassadaigua!

Thirty-two teams are making the trip to the Free Republics and Banija for the World Cup finals, but unfortunately, not everyone was able to qualify for the multiverse's grandest tournament. That's where the Cup of Harmony comes in: the cup for the "best of the rest". Another thirty-two teams, selected by the organizing committee from those who failed to qualify for the World Cup, will battle it out for pride. The Cup of Harmony is often a springboard for on-the-rise national teams, which frequently appear here before they take the final step towards qualifying for the World Cup.

Who will emerge victorious in the final at Canterlot's famed Royal Equestria Stadium? Who will be the "best of the rest?" The path starts here.

Teams which have received and accepted invitations to the Cup of Harmony may post their rosters and roleplays here. Groups A-D will play in the Equestrian States and Groups E-H will play in Cassadaigua.

The group stage will consist of each team playing the others in their group once in a single round robin. Equestrian States will scorinate his groups (Groups A-D) at approximately 11:00 PM EDT (03:00 UTC). Cassadaigua will scorinate her groups (E-H) at approximately 8:00 PM EDT (00:00 UTC). The Approx Guide to the Equestrian States

Introduction

The Pony Principality of Equestrian States is a diverse country inhabited by dozens of sapient species, each contributing to the nation's proud culture of tolerance and giving the Equestrian States a reputation of compassion and kindness. Tradition and innovation have combined well in this Southwest Atlantian Oceania nation, rapidly bringing it into the modern era after centuries of isolation from the rest of the multiverse. This Lonely Multiverse travel guide is designed to be the ultimate companion for any tourist (regardless of their species) visiting the Equestrian States, and is loaded with every tip and bit of advice one needs to have an safe and enjoyable stay.

History

Originally colonized by sapient equines (commonly referred to as ponies) from Magical Equestria over 2000 years ago, the Equestrian States was first established as a largely-autonomous overseas territory of its motherland. As a colony, the Equestrian States was fairly prosperous, developing a matriarchal society similar to that of Magical Equestria and other prominent Pony Lands nations. Several decades after the first ponies set hoof on the islands now part of the Equestrian States, however, the rise of a mysterious and chaotic entity known as Discord led to the government of the growing colony to adopt strict isolationist policies to avoid attracting the attention of Discord.

Several centuries later, the anarchic reign of Discord in the Pony Lands came to an end, though the Equestrian States remained firmly entrenched in its isolationist policies. Having formally declared its independence from Magical Equestria during the rule of Discord, the Equestrian States was reluctant to turn away from the policies which had allowed it to escape the turmoil faced by the rest of the region. Yet another cataclysmic event, just over a millennia ago, saw the known world embroiled in conflict with itself and the fledgling former colony sunk deeper into isolation for the next several centuries.

However, about 200 years ago, the long-standing policies separating the Equestrian States from the rest of the region gradually began to erode with the rapid growth of international maritime trade. Though it would take until just 50 years ago for the remaining isolationist policies to be overturned or made obsolete, foreigners began to take note of the Equestrian States and its northern location in the Pony Lands. What finally drove the ponies of the Equestrian States to abandon isolationism entirely was commerce, with the nation's location being perfect as a refueling and stopping point for ships traveling from outside the Pony Lands.

Active membership in the Coalition of Ponyist States (a military, economic, and political alliance famed for its quick, efficient, and merciless dealings with nations actively persecuting sapient equines and other non-humans) gave the Equestrian States reason to become heavily involved in international politics and trade. Within a decade, the Equestrians entered the modern era, utilizing magic in creative ways to avoid industrial pollution wherever possible and speed the nation's development.

Today, the Equestrian States is an advanced country that has successfully merged tradition, magic, and technology. With an economy dominated by tourism, agriculture, and the mining of precious minerals, the Equestrians have found their niche in the international community. Thanks to its location in Atlantian Oceania (after some magical miscues led to the nation relocating from the Pony Lands), the Equestrian States has become a travel hub for many visiting the region from around the world, and the nation is easily among the more prosperous and safe for foreigners to visit.

Geography & Climate

The Equestrian States is best described as an island nation. However, most Equestrians live on the largest island, which is referred to by locals as the mainland, due to its size and role as a population and commercial center for the country.

The mainland is mostly flat grassland and plains, though forests and hilly areas exist and are generally scattered throughout the island. Running north to south are the Harmony Mountains, named for Mt. Harmony near the capital city of Canterlot. The mountain range divides the mainland into eastern and western geographic regions, and was once home to dozens of active volcanoes. However, no eruption has occurred in the Harmony Mountains in over 800 years, and the range is believed to be inactive. The ancient volcanic activity on the mainland (and on many of the Equestrian States' smaller islands, as well) resulted in mineral deposits from which Equestrian miners have extracted gold, silver, and other valuable materials for export.

Two notable exceptions to the mainland's grassy majority are the Everfree Forest and Southern Desert. The Everfree Forest is more of a jungle than a temperate forest, and is widely considered the most dangerous region in the Equestrian States due to its large numbers of wild carnivorous species, some of which would be considered "mythical" by foreigners. Within the Everfree Forest is the city of Everfree, located along the banks of the Stampede River and home to the largest population of non-equines in the nation. A number of more typical temperate forests surround the Everfree Forest itself.

The Southern Desert is (as one might expect) a dry region located in a small pocket of flat land surrounded by the Harmony Mountains near the southern coast. The only major population center in the Southern Desert is the small city of Appleoosa, located in what could be considered by some as a cooler oasis.

But where things begin to get weird for the average tourist is the Equestrian States' weather. Due to the magical nature of many of its inhabitants, the Equestrians are fully capable of creating, manipulating, and otherwise controlling the clouds and weather. This gives them the ability to determine where and when in rains, snows, hails, or any other . The Equestrian government is very actively involved in coordinating the pegasai of the country to generate and control weather patterns favorable to the Equestrian States inhabitants (and its many farmers, in particular). As such, the odds of an Equestrian weatherpony giving an incorrect forecast are almost nonexistent, unless you happen to be in the Everfree Forest (the only region of the Equestrian States where the weather is practically impossible to control due to a prevalence of wild magic).

Travel

Travelling to the Equestrian States is generally easy, as most methods of interregional travel are available to visitors from outside Atlantian Oceania. Most international flights to the Equestrian States arrive at Canterlot's Harmony International Airport, but other regularly-used airports such as Manehattan's Royal International and Stalliongrad's Friendship Heights International are easy to find flights to. However, it should be noted that pilots flying to and from the Equestrian States internationally must receive additional certification due to the nature of the Equestrian States and much of the surrounding area. Because of this additional requirement for pilots, some airlines do charge extra to cover the training fees.

Once in the Equestrian States, there are many other options for travel. Rental cars, taxis, and busses are easy to find in the larger cities such as Manehattan, Stalliongrad, and Everfree, though one might notice that most vehicles are electric-powered. But while cars and busses are regularly used in some cities, there are also several in which their use is limited to emergency services (most notably in Ponyville and Canterlot's Old City district) or is totally banned (as is the case in Cloudsdale).

However, the limited use of automobiles is balanced out by the proliferation of trains for travel between and within cities. Some of the more prominent and historical lines (such as the Ponyville-Canterlot Express) still use steam-powered engines or high-speed trains designed to mimic the classical appearance of an Equestrian train. Subways are also a common feature in Equestrian cities, spreading underground to connect many places of interest for foreign tourists. Cloudsdale is the only city where cars, buses, and trains/subways are unavailable.

But in the end, the most common method of travel in the Equestrian States is one's own two feet (or whatever you have to walk on). Few Equestrians drive or use public transportation unless they have to, preferring to take in the clean air on their way from place-to-place.

Culture & Society

Religion

Any analysis of Equestrian culture and society must begin with its majority religion and guiding philosophy: Harmonism. A dualistic religion, it revolves around the physical sun and moon deities, Celestia and Luna, as well as the six principles known as the Elements of Harmony. The religion's origins are near-impossible to determination, though it is widely believed to begun shortly after ponykind first encountered Celestia and Luna over two millennia ago. Unlike other religions, Harmonism lacks a written scripture or centralized multiversal organization to create such writings, occasionally resulting in disagreements between Harmonists from different regions. For the sake of brevity, we will only be exploring the most common spiritual and secular beliefs held by those from the Equestrian States.

As stated earlier, the central beliefs of Harmonism include the worship of the Regal Sisters (Celestia and Luna) and adherence to the Elements of Harmony. Immortal and, according to spiritual Harmonists, capable of moving celestial bodies through magic, the two Regal Sisters are worshiped (or at least respected) by ponies throughout the multiverse as living goddesses. Some have recently begun to question the actual power of the Sisters, though it is widely accepted among ponykind that they are the two most powerful magical beings in existence.

The six Elements of Harmony are Honesty, Laughter, Kindness, Generosity, Loyalty, and Magic. These Elements exist both as philosophical concepts as well as physical objects capable of great power that contain the purest magical essence of the aforementioned virtues. The philosophical aspects of the Elements are more central to Harmonist faith as a set of morals to guide one throughout life. They are, for the most part, fairly self-explanatory, except for Magic. The sixth element has been connected not only to the ability of equine Harmonists to use magical spells, but also to the drive for new knowledge or understanding. It also has been connected to the power of friendship, and is mentioned in the most common Harmonist saying: "Friendship is Magic".

However, Harmonism has expanded from its spiritual roots (particularly as more non-equines are exposed to harmonist teachings) to become a secular philosophy as well. Secular Harmonists generally try to follow the virtues of Harmonism, though they generally do not believe that the Regal Sisters are physical goddesses. The expansion of Secular Harmonism has also led to the traditional virtues being adopted and woven into other religions as well, such as Christianity. Excluding the overwhelmingly Spiritual Harmonist equine population of the Equestrian States, the most common religion is Harmonist Christianity, which is especially popular among the human inhabitants of the nation.

Language

Traditionally, ponies have spoken in their native Equestrian tongue; however, since the emergence of the Equestrian States into the international community, laws have been passed requiring citizens to be capable of speaking multiple languages. The most common non-Equestrian language is easily English, which is spoken by approximately two-thirds of the population. It should be noted that some English words have been altered by Equestrians to better fit the equine majority, as the use of "everypony", "anypony", "hoofball", and other such words are modifications of the more standard English words. Mastery of many different languages is especially common among Unicorns, and as they are generally the ones more involved in business, are easy enough to find for foreign visitors. Numerous translating services exist throughout the Equestrian States, and airport bookstores generally contain a plethora of multilingual dictionaries for purchase.

Food

As one might expect from a nation dominated by a species of herbivores, many traditional Equestrian dishes are vegetarian in nature. The proliferation of such food is also furthered by the general lack of agriculture for the purpose of raising up animals for the slaughter. To hurt another living creature is, to many Equestrians, simply unthinkable. However, the Equestrian States is not only inhabited by equines, but also by griffons, dragons, and humans (among others). Restaurants do exist to cater to these non-equine species, and do serve a wide variety of meats imported from outside of the region. That being said, it would be unwise to be seen in public eating a hamburger made from beef or any other meat product as many Equestrians are disgusted by such foods. This can make finding food difficult in smaller cities and in the nicer areas of the larger ones. A general tip would be: if your waiter looks like a herbivore, don't ask them for a cheeseburger or steak. Equestrian cafes are fairly creative with what they can do with non-meat products, and the bread and pastries are oftentimes better than what you might find in other nations.

Drink in the Equestrian States also differs significantly from other nations around the multiverse, as the most common alcoholic beverage is hard cider, which can be found at virtually every bar, pub, and restaurant. Ponies generally refrain from drinking too heavily, but other non-human sapients such as griffons are known to consume vast quantities of alcohol in a single sitting. We advise our human readers to graciously decline any drinking challenges offered, as one is unlikely to win, and drunk griffons can be notoriously temperamental. Beer is a distant second to cider, in terms of both popularity and availability, though bars and eateries which cater to human tourists will often keep domestic Equestrian brands in stock.

Inter-Species Relations

As the Equestrian States is home to a wide range of species, it is practically impossible for any visitor to the country to avoid seeing a member of another species, regardless of where they might be. Unicorns could pull this off in certain neighborhoods of Canterlot, and Earth Ponies could do the same in isolated rural areas, though foreigners will often stumble across other species upon entry into the Equestrian States as customs officials are perhaps the most diverse Equestrian demographic.

Relations between the three major pony races have not always been smooth, and some tensions still exist today despite the educational system's teaching of acceptance and tolerance. However, inter-species violence is very rare within the Equestrian States, as is violence in general, with the possible exceptions coming from dragons, griffons, and other more naturally-aggressive species. Angering a dragon is about as dumb as it sounds, and is not advised unless one has a death wish.

Visitors to the Equestrian States are also advised to avoid appearing speciesist to locals, as Equestrian society could be described as having a herd mentality, where an attack against or insult towards one person might be considered an attack on all those around that person. Thus, some words to avoid using in the Equestrian States are: horse, mule, foal, or donkey. Calling a pony any of those terms is likely to result in a backlash towards the offending individual, as they are considered to be offensive unless one is actually speaking to a sapient horse or donkey, which are both easy to tell apart from ponies through their size and general lack of bright-colored fur or manes.

CASSADAIGUA TRAVEL GUIDE

Are you coming to Cassadaigua to enjoy the Cup of Harmony? Great! Here’s what you will need to know.

1) Where is Cassadaigua? How do I get there?

Cassadaigua is located in the region of Rushmore, and more specifically south-central Rushmore.

The best recommendation to get here is to fly in, although if you are nearby, you may just want to drive or take a train. All Cassadagan cities have a major airport, and the nation has an advanced rail system as well. If you insisted on traveling by sea, there are some easily attainable port cities to make it very convenient, but we suggest flying in.

2) Will I be safe? What is crime like?

Cassadaigua is no more or no less safe then any other nation. Some consider our crime rates to be a little high, but law enforcement and a general security presence will be very apparent and will protect you. Things still get seedy in the Grande Mountain area from time to time, but our security will try their best to keep the men's rights protests to a minimum. Lately, since the Queen has been more pro-active in regards to Men’s rights, such protests have not been occurring.

3) Tell me more about your female-dominated society. Are male tourists safe?

Cassadaigua’s society is different then what is seen throughout most of the world. In our nation, the female is the dominant gender and is superior to the male. This should not be surprising if you have followed our own national sport teams in even the slightest of ways. There are some groups who feel that men are greatly oppressed in our nation, but that is not really the case. If you are a man, and you are visiting Cassadaigua, as long as you are aware of our somewhat different culture, you should not have a tough time fitting in. After all, Cassadagan men that play by the rules here and respect their role can be very successful themselves. As long as you respect our culture, you should be fine while you are here. If you act disrespectful, then don’t be surprised if you are soon put in your place. You are expected to follow all Cassadagan laws, even if it is not a law in your own country,

4) I’ve been to nations that have talking ponies, or banned cars, or taxes on every little thing. Should I expect anything like this?

Cassadagans love horses, but there are no talking ponies here. At least not that we know of. If we have any sentient immigrants from nations like Equestrian States, they keep a very low profile. Cars are very much a way of life, and our taxes aren’t anything out of the ordinary, and if anything are a little lower then average. Cassadaigua is modern, economic powerhouse. There are no unusual factors associated with the country, other then the gender differences.

Socially, Cassadaigua is open to members of all faiths, and we respect your right to worship your respective deity in the way you see fit; or to not worship one at all. Homosexuality is accepted in the country, though we can’t promise that some random drunk in the stands or on the streets won’t make offensive comments.

As far as drinking is concerned, the legal age is 18, though many get away with underage drinking as it is not as aggressively policed as it may be in other lands. However, do not drink and drive. If you are caught, you will have a greater jail sentence then you might be expecting, and if you kill anyone by drunk driving, you will receive the death penalty.

Smoking anywhere in public is banned, but legal in your own home. This applies to both cigarettes and marijuana. All other recreational drugs are banned.

5) Where will the games be? Tell me about the cities, please.

Concord Heights- This is the nation capital, and the city has hosted many international championships before. You’ll find the city in northeast Cassadaigua, and there are plenty of things to do while here. We won’t get into all of them, because if its on your mind, simply put, its in Concord Heights. Within the city, you will find the most traditional Cassadagan citizens; the ones least likely to be listening to MEN (Male Equality Now) or any other of men’s rights messages. The University of Concord Heights is the nation’s most accredited higher learning institution, but if you want to leave Cassadaigua looking better to impress people at home, check out Concord Heights Beauty School for all kind of tips on looking your best, and museums dedicated specifically to the ultimate in vanity.

The Concord Heights Stadium soccer field has been seen a lot of great events take place on it through the years, and many tributes to our glory days, including a monument area for our retired kit numbers, are seen at the stadium. It has a capacity of 83,000.

Also in Concord Heights, the field at the University of Concord Heights will also be used to host games. It has a capacity of 75,000.

Brattleboro- The most rapidly growing city in Cassadaigua recently topped Grande Mountain in terms of population. Brattleboro sits immediately alongside the border between us and Sicoutimont. The technological age is what has caused the rise of this city, thanks in large part to the prestigious Brattleboro Technical Institute. Graduates remained committed to the area, and are since having families of their own. Overall, there is a younger demographic here, age wise, and that coupled with the name of the city has led to others to call its residents “Brats”.

Brattleboro Stadium is the most modern of any of the stadiums that will be hosting the tournament. (Concord Heights Stadium is fine, though just a bit more traditional). It is impeccably maintained, and has a capacity of 79,000. There are plenty of interactive things for fans to do before and after the game.

Additionally in Brattleboro, the field at the Brattleboro Technical Institute will also host games. It has a capacity of 64,000.

Grande Mountain- Another large city, there has been some controversy in Grande Mountain lately. Most of that pertains to the local university, and you should be safe as long as you mind your own business. Those with a long term memory about Grande Mountain, and recent protest that have taken place here can take solace in knowing that has not been an issue in the last couple years. That’s good, as locals are glad they can get back to leading normal lives. Grande Mountain, as a city, sits a high elevation, which is where it gets its name.

The stadium is a traditional 68,000-seat facility. It will offer the basics, and do a very good job with it. This is also very much a college town, so expect more then the normal number of intoxicated Cassadagan fans afterwards. Your fans are welcome to join in.

Rutland- A port city in southeastern Cassadaigua, Rutland sometimes gets lost in the shuffle with the other cities in tournaments like this. It could use a bit of a makeover, but local officials have concentrated efforts on the port itself, and as such the rest of the city could appear ignored. It is true that many are migrating out of Rutland because of this, and it’s possible that it might not appear as a host city much longer.

The stadium has the smallest capacity of any in the tournament, with that being 58,000, and those seats will sell out quickly. For those who just want to focus on soccer, and not have other distractions, this is the place you’ll hope to be. Even though the city is a bit bland, there is plenty of energy in the stands.

Winchester- The anti-Brattleboro in that while Brattleboro is a younger city, demographically, Winchester is a place that a lot of retired people have migrated too, to get away from big city life. In the process, they created a big city themselves, but you’ll notice that this city doesn’t have same kind of pizzazz as others. You’ll find more bingo halls then bars in the city, and residents only agree to allow the city to be used for international events because of the money you’ll bring in to the city. So that they can gamble it away playing bingo.

In contrast to the older demographic that lives here, the stadium is actually quite modern. There will be some interactive activities for fans, but you’ll also see a lot of the older people try to sell old memorabilia around the stadium. Take a look, maybe you will find something interesting!

New Lakeland- If you want to enjoy Cassadaigua and go to a city with the most gender equality, then New Lakeland is the spot for you. The reason is, that this used to be a city in Secristan before Cassadaigua took it over, therefore its origins aren’t the same. As time has gone by, Cassadagan lifestyle has begun to take it over, but there many relics of its history still prevalent on the streets. It’s the most capitalist city in the country, but given that origin, that shouldn’t be a surprise. City has seen a lot of recent sporting success with New Lakeland University winning the NSCAA 9 title, and the New Lakeland Tycoons winning the Club Baseball Classic.

The stadium is state-of-the-art, and at 91,000, it has the largest capacity out of all of the stadiums being used. It will also have the highest ticket prices. You’ll get good value out of it though, as once inside, there is plenty to do, and the most varied assortment of concession areas in the country.

Starksville- A growing city close to Rutland, and has been the place that a lot of migrants from Rutland have ended up going to. It is a port city, as well. Since it is a growing city, it does not have a ton of sporting history associated with it.

The stadium is a basic, no-frills, 65,000 seat stadium. It’s fine and more then adequate, but won’t make a forever lasting impression.

Victoriavile- As the most populous city in Southwestern Cassadaigua, Victoriaville again returns as a host city to give Dagans living in this area some close games to travel too. There’s nothing really wrong with the city, it’s just not as big as the others.

The stadium is very similar to Starksville, and is a basic 61,000-seat stadium. It does have a rather high amount of luxury boxes present.

South Granby- A city in north-central Cassadaigua that will host international competition for the second time. The city impressed many with how it hosted games in the Copa Rushmori.

The stadium is a modern, 58,000-seat facility. They will be going all out with fan activities because they not only want to give you a good experience, but they want to convince the various sporting agencies in Cassadaigua to use them more frequently.

Northbury- About 100 miles north of Winchester, you’ll find this somewhat sleepy town. It also has an older demographic, but not quite at the level of Winchester. It also hosts international play for the second time.

The stadium used to only hold 40,000, but in recent years, it has had its capacity increased to 66,000. With that, it has been given the honor of being a host stadium for the tournament. Like South Granby, they’ll be going all out to impress.

Tinhampton has been through six different managers in the past four World Cup qualification cycles: Ian Jones, Rachel Coltfield, Dave "Paul" Winner, Henry Lannister, David Wwrong, Clive Bullshit, and now we have Rachel fucking Coltfield again. None of them have brought Tinhampton to the promised land.

We have Julia Atherton, Aihlo Vatunska, and Osarius McAudioface to thank. The latter of whom, in case you dropped out after Grade 7, you know better as Martin Kovacova of Coldfield, which is one letter away from being our national team manager. (Logical conclusion: Tinhampton should start importing ice.)

Actually, wait, no - scratch those first two, we have Zack Pierce to moan about now. Now, according to latest reports from the Sandcastle, Princess Athers did not even so much as put a finger on The Manliest of Manly Men's Manly Man:

Tinhampton goalkeeper Julia Atherton's red card for striking Cassadagan midfielder Zack Pierce was "unjustified", according to video footage acquired by the Sentinel... Pierce turned his head right before Atherton would have made contact. Manipulation of the referee is a yellow card offence. It is also unlikely that sweeper Aihlo Vatunska would have resultantly recieved a second yellow card for dissent. Mohamed al-Khazr, who shoved on Hannah Ranucci before the incident, was not warned at all.

I am horrified and yet unsurprised that this is even a valid excuse to let us travel to Cassadaigua and Horseyland. And now every single Manly Man, woman and child in Cassadaigua is HUEing at us because we lost to them... Some cheek!

Robin Hjik has named his 23 man squad for the upcoming Cup of Harmony following the national team's failure to qualify for the World Cup. The Cup of Harmony is an extremely important tournament for Mytanija, being the first international tournament the national side won when the trophy was lifted by Robin Hjik in his playing days in the 56th edition. Assistant manager Lev Repin won both the 56th and 59th Cups as a player and the pair would like to take the Hoops to their third victory in the competition. GOALKEEPERS.

Jasmin Savic, 27, Atletik Thessia (MYT).
25 caps, 0 goals
In terms of ability, Savic is currently the best goalkeeper in Mytanija, but domestically he hasn't impressed for a couple of seasons. Atletik have conceded a significant amount more than other title contenders and whilst that may be largely down to lax defending rather than an incompetent goalkeeper, some did wonder whether there could be a lack of confidence in Savic's ability to start for the national side. For now, he seems to have Hjik's confidence and retains the starting spot. The 6'3 goalkeeper is well known for anticipating shots and often charges out quickly to minimise the area an opponent will have to shoot at. His aerial ability is decent enough, with a reasonable command of his area, but his distribution leaves a little to be desired. Savic was generally very good during World Cup qualifying as evidenced by the national team's excellent defensive record, only conceding 21 goals through the 18 qualifiers.

Pedja Kasun, 23, Ararat Severyan (MYT).
4 caps, 0 goals
Kasun is expected to take over the mantle of national team starting goalkeeper at some point in the future, if he continues his domestic form then it could be sooner rather than later. Kasun was the Top League's best goalkeeper, winning Young Player of the Season along with the Golden Glove award as he kept 14 clean sheets and only conceded 31 goals in 30 games. Kasun's excellent performances were a big part in his side winning what was only their second Mytanar Top League title. He's very much a modern goalkeeper, tall at 6'5 whilst still being supremely athletic and with good distribution. He was a part of the Mytanar side that won DBC 40 and many are waiting for him to start fulfilling his potential with the full national side.

Adel Gudelj, 33, Liria Prizren (MYT).
Uncapped
Gudelj is an experienced goalkeeper and is known for being a fairly no-nonsense player who wants to get the job done. He likely won't play too much during the qualifying campaign, as it's believed Hjik will prefer Kasun over him if Savic is not picked. Nonetheless, Gudelj was joint-third in the Top League Golden Globe award last season. His side was the second stingiest in the league, with Gudelj keeping 10 clean sheets in 30 games.

STRIKERS.

Jezdimir Ocokoljic, 21, Crvena Zvezda (MYT).
28 caps, 12 goals
Easily the national side's best hope offensively, Ocokoljic is a dab hand at finding space and likes to operate 'in between the lines'. His finishing is good and he remains composed in front of goal, with his movement off the ball allowing him plenty of opportunities. Physically he's still developing and he may struggle against defenders that are prepared to rough him up, but his speed on the ball and technical ability with it at his feet allow him to dribble past players too he wouldn't hesitate to do so and embarrass any defender that does attempt to get overly physical. Takes some short range free kicks. Scored 7 goals in 18 qualifiers as another ever-present and a very productive one at that.

Nebojsa Aleksic, 25, Tekstil Ibon (MYT).
15 caps, 5 goals
A real modern day complete forward, Aleksic offers height along with his pace and is a very good finisher. He won't bring as much to the build-up play as Zekic, but if he is given a chance in front of goal he will likely take it. Aleksic is a player that has played lower-league football for his hometown club Tekstil in the past and this means he is fully prepared to get involved in the dirty side of the game and he can often be seen clipping at the heels of opponents and generally being a pain to play against. He has an excellent disciplinary record despite this, something of an oxymoron. Won the starting job ahead of Alen Zekic after Zekic's performances continued to be poor and he repeatedly misfired in front of goal, scored 5 goals in 13 games, a good return.

Alen Zekic, 29, Atletik Thessia (MYT).

Zekic is a tall centre forward and it is his size and physical presence that make him a useful weapon when used alongside Ocokoljic, for example, as he provides a quite different sort of threat and will give defenders something a little different to consider - his hold-up and link-up play are excellent. His goal record for the national side is nowhere near as good as his goal scoring record at domestic level and that may reflect the difference in quality of opposition. He will hope to improve that record though, he was dropped during the Copa Rushmori and this was repeated during World Cup qualifying. He just cannot seem to recreate his domestic form for the national team and it wouldn't be surprising if this is the last tournament we see him compete for Mytanija during as the national set-up look to turn to other options.

Set-piece takers.
Corners: Tahir Fejzuli and Tihomir Feric rotate, irrespective of which side the corner is on. If one or neither are on the pitch then an alternative would be Jasno Odonelec (although if he's on the pitch he'll be in the penalty area as he's a reasonable aerial weapon).
Short free kicks: Ocokoljic or Fejzuli, basically. Ocokoljic is more likely to take them from the left as he's right-footed and Fejzuli more likely from the right as he's left-footed. Odonelec would be next choice and Branko Brkljacic would offer a different method of taking it which mainly involves just hitting the ball as hard as he possibly can.
Long free kicks: Either Fejzuli or Tihomir Feric. Feric and Isaev will always stay back on long free kicks and Fejzuli will be unlikely to be any further than halfway into the opposition's half also as defence against any counter-attacks (both centre-backs will usually be in the opponent's penalty area). If none are on the pitch then replacement full backs or the likes of Elvahic or Stojkovic would be alternative options.
Penalties: In the game first choice would be Ocokoljic and second would be Fejzuli. If neither are on the pitch alternatives would include Odonelec, Azanovic, Todorov and Aleksic. In the event of a penalty shoot-out the order would be something like: Odonelec (if on the pitch); Ocokoljic; Fejzuli; Azanovic; Todorov; Aleksic (if on the pitch); Zekic; Lalic; Feric. If it goes beyond that then both teams need to get better penalty takers.

Coleen Yu took over from Michael Forsberg during the World Cup 81 qualifiers, after Forsberg admitted to drink driving.

Coleen has determined to retain the same squad which saw Beepee finish third in its qualifying group, however has been working on a more attacking ethos

32 year old Shep, who plays for Catenham State University is a solid pair of hands in goal and him performing well will no doubt play a huge part in any success Beepee has in the competition.

Markus Doulton, 29, was once considered to be the best goalkeeper in Beepee, but following a disastrous result lost his place in the first team to Shep and has been unable to dislodge Shep from the team.

Junior goalie Jerome Moullet is known as "The Mullet" to his fans for his rather unique hair creations. The popular goalkeeper has yet to make his full debut for the Beepeean side.

Defenders
DL Anders Bucke
Young Anders Bucke is the junior member of the defence at a mere 20 years of age. His inexperience is oft preyed upon by the more ruthless opposition. Bucke personally looks up to his mentor Jason Baker. Bucke has decent speed and agility skills, but is weaker in man to man marking.

DC Jason Baker
Jason Baker's Bald head makes him easy to spot on the field, but the tough man of the team is a stalwart in the Beepeean defence. Baker bosses the defence and the box with ruthless efficiency and some excellent positioning skills. However, he sometimes can get a little too physical.

DC Claude Boles
27 year old Claude Boles is a cool and steady player who provides a steely determination in the back 4. A good all rounder with good heading and tackling skills, Boles is unlikely to ever set the world alight with his football skills.

DR Davide Michelle
Tall defender Davide, at 201cms, is a towering figure in the Beepeean defence. The quiet and unassuming defender is not keen on being in the limelight but is organised and efficient at following the orders of Boles and Baker in defence. Naturally, his height gives him a distinct advantage when covering set pieces.

ML Dirk Bolt
Dirk Bolt has grown in confidence over the past year and possesses strong ball crossing skills. Working well with Chris Patterson on the opposite flank, 26 year old Bolt provides excellent attacking movement and is confident at spreading the ball across the field.

MC Max Christian
Max Christian came to the fore in World Cup 81 qualifying proving himself to be a strong midfielder capable of deep penetrating passes and solid defensive work. The 25 year old who plies his trade at Beepeean side Norfolk Pinewoods, is playing with some creativity and freedom from consistent and regular first team play.

MC Niklaus Malade
Perennial underachiever Malade finally appears to be making certain his position in the first team given his good showing at World Cup 81 Qualifying. The weakest of the midfielders, Malade's greatest strength is his tactical knowledge. 30 year old Malade recently signed for Banksia Utd in the Beepeean league.

MR Chris Patterson (Captain)
24 year old midfielder Chris Patterson prefers playing on the right, however is comfortable in any midfield position. Patterson has excellent ball skills, can whip in a mean cross, and is by far Beepee's quickest runner. Patterson provides stong leadership and works best with left midfielder Dirk Bolt.

S3 Scott Kirk (MLR)
Versatile midfielder Kirk has yet to seriously break into the starting line up, and often hold the role as the rotation/substitute player. At 170cms Scott is one of the shortest players in the team, but is highly tenacious.

S4 Aaron St. Pier (MC)
Aaron St Pier is a 21 year old who plays for Norfolk Pinewoods and may be a player to watch for the future. The young defensive midfielder who played well for his club in the domestic season.   Aaron is looking to push his way into the starting line-up.

22 year old Sam Veera, who plays for Mela Leuca is an adept finisher. Whilst his key weakness is heading, Veera makes up for this deficiency through his understanding of the importance of positioning and often loses markers inside the 6 yard area. Veera, who prefers his right foot, has excellent power and is often able to outmuscle his opponents.

ST Carlo Bannan
Carlo Bannan, 26, has proven himself to be a solid goalscorer. However he has consistently played second fiddle to Veera. His more agile frame allows a quicker response than Veera and stronger jumping skills mean the two complement each other.

Viljansson relies on the same roster as for the World Cup Qualification

Football is a highly popular sport in Savojarna, even though it usually has to take the #2 spot behind ice hockey. Thanks to bigger stadia, the Savojar Futbol Serien (SFS) still manages to draw the highest average attendance numbers in the country year after year and is generally considered a fast-growing league offering lots of openings for young players. Savojarna's top team is ranked 28th in the world, and following the success of the women's national team in the past World Cup campaign, the men are under pressure to follow up. The focus of Savojar football is traditionally on tactics, teamplay and athleticism. The young team fielded by Arnulf Viljansson is a good mix from experienced players and young guys, and gets supported by the former WC player Nick Orlov as assistant coach. The team focuses on defensive stability and deadly, swift counters over the wings, where they have their two most dangerous and fastest players in Jashkin and Voynov.

LINEUP AND TACTICS

Viljansson employs a 4-2-3-1 with two wingers that often cut into the box and try to score themselves, and two fullbacks that join the attack if they can to offer a possibility of a cross to the centre. Without the ball, they usually use the forward and the winger on the side with the ball to put pressure onto the opponent, but mostly wait to catch the attack with their double-six to launch a quick counter out of the midfield. In defence, they often try to push the opponent to the outsides and rely on the control of Jarnström as well as the size and strength of their centre-backs to win aerial superiority in the box. If ahead, the formation often shifts into a 4-4-1-1 (in its extreme form with Voynov replaced by Groen); if behind, they often switch to a 4-4-2 with Ryberg or Jotansson replacing one of the defensive midfielders. Voynov and Jashkin then fall more to the sides, making the formation reminiscent of a 4-2-4, and in extreme cases a 3-3-4 with Poulsen replacing a centre-back.

Goalkeeper: Anders Jarnström
Jarnström is Savojarna's number one goalkeeper and has been so since the nation's debut on the international stage. Despite his age, he is still a strong goalie who has great oversight and control of his box. His reflexes are around average, but thanks to size and jumping power (as well as very strong positioning) he is hard to beat. His replacement is Fridtjof Rolfrsson, a spectacular and athletic goalkeeper who sticks to the line more. He might play if Savojarna are already qualified before their final group match, while Thomas Larsen is not expected to play unless there are injuries.

Defence: Bjarne Thorvaldsson, Simon Omark, Denis Metanov, Alexey Nurkanen
Both fullbacks (Thorvaldsson and Nurkanen) are similar types of players, both very fast and good at crossing the ball into dangerous areas. They often join the attack to create an overweight on one side while their respective winger cuts to the middle and opens up space. In defence, especially Thorvaldsson works a lot with his size and strength, while Nurkanen employs his speed a bit more. In the centre, there is a rather clear division between Omark, who is a positionally strong and fast defender whose task is to organise the defence and start the attack if he gets hold of the ball, and Metanov who is much slower but taller and stronger, playing a classic centre-back role. The replacement LB Jorgen Hallsen is likely to come into play if Savojarna are ahead, as he is a more typical left back and joins the offence less often, being a tough and hard to get rid of player. Flemming Skov has been called up following a very successful U21 campaign and is a fast player with lots of stamina, but similarly offensive to Nurkanen and somewhat unlikely to play much due to their many similarities. In the centre, Granlund and Ullqvist are more or less typical Savojar centre-backs: tall and strong, hard to pass and dangerous at standards, but somewhat limited with the ball. Either may replace Metanov as they offer more speed (but less routine), but it is likely that Omark will start and finish most games.

Defensive Midfield: Joonas Andersson, Niklas Hoyberg
There is a clear division of labour in the Savojar defensive midfield, as it is divided between the defensive specialist Andersson and the more creative Hoyberg. Andersson's role is to stop attacks as early as possible and make it hard for attackers to get by him, relying on his physique and stamina to make the life of the opposing playmaker hell on earth. His partner Hoyberg powers and orchestrates the match from behind, distributing balls and launching counters. Against offensive teams, he may also support Andersson and has his defensive qualities, but has his strength in creation. Libor Milanov is almost a one-for-one replacement of Andersson, but is a bit more aggressive and more talented in terms of offensive creation.

Offensive Midfield: Krister Voynov, Petteri Hytönen, Mikhail Jashkin
Jashkin is a fast wingers with a dangerous shot or cross, and searches for opportunities wherever he can as proven in the U21 tournament. He is known for a deadly eye and his laser-like passes. His counterpart Krister Voynov is one of the most followed talents of Savojarna and much revered. The fast winger is capable of very dangerous crosses, but his true strength lays in his great vision and his ability to pose a continuous threat to the goal together with a helping left-back. Voynov can both score assists by crossing the ball and goals by pulling inwards. Between them, Hytönen is the playmaker of the team but may be replaced by Morten Poulsen if more speed is required. Poulsen is the creative mind of the U21 team and a very quick player for the counter-attack. His left foot is very accurate and given his young age, he is already very cool under pressure. On the wings, Groen and Mertonen provide a bit more security and are more defensive-minded, but also more conservative in terms of their offensive play. They are likely coming on the field if a lead needs to be preserved, feeding the strikers with good passes and securing the wings against attacks, but cannot offer as much of a threat as Voynov and Jashkin.

Forward: Perttu Karjanen
Perttu Karjanen is the captain and record goal scorer of Savojarna and will lead the team on the field with clever positioning and a deadly shot. Compared to his replacements, he is not as strong with his head due to lower size, but has a lot more speed and is more versatile. If he gets shielded too much, he often drops back to the offensive midfield to operate together with Hytönen to create chances for the wingers. His replacements Ryberg and Jotansson are typical close-range strikers and goalgetters, lurking near the box for a cross, pass or to create space for Voynov and Jashkin. Both are over 190 cm tall, meaning they are at least level or even taller with most centre-backs. While Ryberg relies mostly on that fact and his superior strength, Jotansson also has great command of the ball and a strong distance shot, making both valid alternatives to Karjanen.

NATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL TEAM

The departure of Kasper Molak under very humiliating circumstances (namely following the shock defeat by Abanhfleft at the hands of whipping boys Braxil) has marked the end of an era in the national team's history. Holly Jonasson, the Armeian-Anglatian named as Molak's successor, managed to lead the team to third place in their qualifying group in WC 74 and a quarterfinals spot in Cup of Harmony 66, but the men's team was not overly keen in having Jonasson at the helm of their team, and so for the first time in their history as a member of the NationStates World Cup, Abanhfleft will be having separate managers for the men's and women's teams. Ranulph Bustamante, who was an assistant manager under Molak's tenure, becomes the men's new manager, while Jonasson keeps her spot as the women's team's manager. Bustamante has promised to follow in his predecessor's footsteps with regards to playing attractive attacking football, and while his tactics have translated well to the field, there is still the matter of getting past the group stage of the World Cup finals. Can Bustamante finally get his boys to get over that particular hump this time? Or will the group stage prove to be the furthest that the Fleftics can get? Only time will tell...

Carlos did pretty well for himself while he starred in the Di Bradini Cup in Abanhfleft's first few sporting forays into the greater multiverse. But once he became ineligible for the Di Bradini Cup due to his age, he found his struggle to break through the senior national team blocked by the very same obstacle which was blocking his ascension to the first team of Sporting Ceneisis: none other than the Blues' stalwart goalkeeper and captain Maksim Varamoninov. The long-limbed and long-necked keeper held down Ceneisis' number one spot for so many years that Carlos must have surely contemplated moving to another club just to become first-choice keeper. But then Fluvique and Mevosa came swooping in with a big offer for Big Maksim and both Maksim and Ceneisis were crazy not to accept the offer, and that is the story of how Carlos Cohen finally became Ceneisis' number one. Sure, Maksim came back to Abanhfleft after a few years when a Catastrophic Termination Event swept through Fluvique but he signed for Arsenal de Releinthi instead so Carlos continues to be Ceneisis' number one.

LB: Daisuke OGIGAYATSU 27 y/o, Ludogorets Markovsky

Daisuke Ogigayatsu is the younger brother of Flardanian striker Eriko Ogigayatsu, who is one of the star strikers of Ludogorets Markovsky Ladies (alongside Zsofia Dolan and Tess Byquist). Daisuke is the only member of the Ogigayatsu family who was born in Abanhfleft, which made him eligible to represent the country by nature of the law which automatically grants Fleftic citizenship to everyone born within Fleftic borders. Daisuke is a speedy fullback whose bags of pace allow him to keep up with the offense of the team while at the same time not shirking from his defensive responsibilities. So far, he's been overlooked by the SFA, but Heinrich Wurzmann hopes that Daisuke will shine enough in the Independents Cup to warrant a real call-up for the real national team. That hope has now come true come the World Cup 77 qualifiers.

LCB: Ainsley GIBSON 27 y/o, 1830 Cathair

Gibson has large shoes to fill in following the graduation of Rory Edwards to the senior team and Celerino delos Reyes' decision to give the captain's armband to Gibson. Perhaps delos Reyes would have been better off if he had given the armband to Cedric Pearson or Joe Warren, but after Gibson's commanding performance as captain of the under-18s, Owen Bevan would have none of it. Gibson is a speedy center-back, which used to serve as the perfect foil to Kristin Pittmann's rock-solid presence on the pitch, but with Pittmann now ineligible, he's had to work hard to limit his attacking runs, especially now that this tendency of his was exploited by Pasarga in that fateful round of 16 matchup. Somehow managed to get a move from mid-table Submarin Yeralenko in Pridnestrovia to Audioslavia's 1830 Cathair despite all that.

The captain of the national team is back, and this time, he's even more raring to go into action ever since a knee injury last season derailed Riuwiee United's hopes of a thirty-third title. Now fully healed and back into both Artemio Peres and Ranulph Bustamante's starting eleven, Edwards is looking forward to competing on the international stage once again and show younger brother Rory, who has been included in the senior national team for the first time in his career, how a real international player plays. This will also be his final World Cup qualifying cycle, and also his final chance to finally see the Revolutionaries through to the knockout stage of the World Cup finals. If they can actually get that far...

RB: Melisizwe AFOLAYAN 28 y/o, Locomotive Imgortur

Afolayan is a no-nonsense defender that doesn't take being skilled around by the opponent lightly. If the opponent begins skilling his or her way around Afolayan then he will just stick out a leg and trip over the opponent, which has led to a disciplinary record filled with yellow cards and the occasional red card. The Rodrigues management claims that Afolayan has the potential to be a wing-back due to his high offensive work rate, but only time will tell if this will become true. Signed by Locomotive Imgortur as a long-term replacement for Charles Amoroso and was a fixture in Abanhfleft's early Di Bradini squads before finally making the cut with the senior national team.

LM: Andrea MARILUNGO 27 y/o, Malabon SC

Malabon is not generally considered to have one of the better football academies within the Fleftic football system, and Adelmio Bandini isn't also noted for being the type of manager to promote from within the club, but Marilungo proved to be the exception to both these rules. Although he's more of a central midfielder for Malabon, his wicked good left foot means that Ranulph Bustamante has put in the left midfield where he can put his defensive qualities to good use and cover for his fellow youngsters Daisuke Ogigayatsu and Kenneth Owobowale. But that doesn't mean Marilungo can't come forward and help on the offense as well.

CM: Valery ZOLNEROV 32 y/o, Malabon SC

After impressing for the under-21s in Abanhfleft's first ever Di Bradini campaign, Zolnerov dropped off the radar after turning 22 and becoming ineligible for the under-21s and turning in a decent-ish performance for Kimmirut Panhandle. However, when he began playing consistent first-team football and helped Kimmirut to return to the Premier League after five seasons in Unang Liga, Zolnerov is back on everyone's minds. After five seasons of watching Kimmirut bounce around between the Premier League and the Unang Liga, Val has decided that he wants to play for a team with a steady league place and went for Fluvique's Saint Matthew for the neat sum of NSD 14.5m.

RM: Cedric PEARSON 29 y/o, Samaj FC

(Cosumar)
One of the four remaining starters of the original Fleftic Di Bradini squad, Pearson used to be one of the more questionable choices in the starting eleven back when the under-21s first competed in international football, but with age and experience he is starting to prove his doubters wrong, but with a history of being injury-prone Pearson hasn't been able to show good performances for an entire season. His presence will help lock up the midfield, but if he gets injured the Fleftic right side will prove vulnerable. Ced eventually grew tired of being constantly in a relegation battle with Bananas FC and decided to move to Cosumar's Samaj FC when the opportunity came knocking despite interest from FC Brimstone over in Apox as well.

CAM: Rory EDWARDS 30 y/o, Riuwiee United

Consistent for the three years that he'd been playing for the under-21s but never quite managing to lead them to the title, the younger Edwards sibling has made his mark, but will certainly look to make that mark bigger with his inclusion into the first team of the senior squad. His main job will be feeding Potter and Kelvin, but he can and does score some goals from his position. He has the future to be either a false 9 or an actual striker in his own right.

CF: Kareem DAGEN 25 y/o, Rosenpfelblatz City

Dagen can be described as the breakout player of the first Sporting World Cup, scoring 10 goals and leading Abanhfleft to second place in the aforementioned tournament. His amazing performance as a striker led to his signing by Eikborg Club, a Semarlandish club competing in the Globe Cup, making him the first ever Fleftic player to sign for a foreign league other than Pridnestrovia, Oontaz Dert Li Ng and Copper Cuprum. Dagen's quality performance in the Sporting World Cup also earned him a starting spot in the Fleftic under-21s, over the likes of Garrett Krantz and Irina Babarushchik. Now he's starting because those other players are now ineligible as well. After a few years with Eikborg, Dagen has gone back to Rosenpfelblatz on the promise of first team minutes and playing alongside the likes of Max Fetfatzidis and Oliver Ganson.

CF: Vitaly ZIMA 26 y/o, Imperial Markovsky

Vitaly Zima is the twin brother of Arkadi Zima of Revolutionary Nordskania, and they've had quite a contentious relationship outside of football. Vitaly is a one-dimensional striker who is good at getting into spaces and poaching the ball in dangerous areas, but other than that, he's not a remarkable player. No one's really sure why Vitaly has been included to the Independents Cup squad, except maybe to provide a contrast to his more prominent brother Arkadi, who's made a lot of waves recently. He scored goals in the Independents Cup and made himself look like a world-class striker so that has to explain why he was included in the qualifying pool. Now starting in the World Cup proper in place of the recovering Kevin Kelvin.

RESERVES
GK: Maksim VARAMONINOV 38 y/o, Arsenal de Releinthi

A traditional keeper, Varamoninov prefers to stay behind and near his goal as much as possible, unless his team has gone on the offensive and there are no other players to bother him in his half, or when he is called forward in the last minutes of a game for the possibility of scoring a header from a corner. A very tall keeper with insanely long limbs and neck and, according to many Fleftic footie fans, one of the most punchable faces in the league. (FYI, he looks like Courtois.)

GK: Guildenstern CARDEW 20 y/o, Sporting Ceneisis

Guildenstern Cardew is the younger brother of former Panem striker Silvia Cardew. After Panem was enveloped by a mysterious Catastrophic Termination Event (or CTE), the Cardews eventually managed to wind up on the shores of the Fhulghamous Peninsula Colony along with a large number of their fellow Panemian nationals. Guildenstern was eventually picked up by Besanza Emeralds FC of the Fhulghamousian Premier League. Guildenstern decided to emulate his Panemian idol Walnut Durant and become a goalkeeper even though his sister Silvia is a striker. Guildenstern is also very close friends with Marius Rosenkrantz the soccer player but never got around to telling Marius his true feelings until it was too late. Will this affect him throughout the qualification period?

RB: Horace POPOV 26 y/o, Farrenton Athletic

(Eura), male
A member of the Fleftic under-21 team's backroom staff happened upon Popov while playing Championship Football Manager and noticed that the kid had high defensive potential. Popov is still a diamond in the rough, but some experience under the wing of Melisizwe Afolayan could see him become a potential star. Whether it's for his mother's homeland Abanhfleft or his birth country Pridnestrovia still remains to be seen, but for now, while he's still under the age of 21, he's Abanhfleft's man. With Afolayan now ineligible, it's up to Popov to make an impact that will keep him in a white shirt. Injuries to Jordan Cervantes and Holland Emilianovski have necessitated Popov's inclusion into the senior team where he hopes to make a very good impact.

CB: Charles VIGER 27 y/o, AFC Langtree

Charlie Viger used to be one of the brightest prospects among defenders in the under-18 group of both Fleftic and Pridnestrovian players and was already knocking on the door of the first team of Vorpommern Nyqvist of the Pridnestrovian Super League looking to become one of the team and league's best young defenders. Then the final of the first ever Sporting World Cup happened and Charlie was part of the Abanhfleft team that conceded five goals against eventual champions Semarland. Charlie's confidence took a very noticeable nosedive and everything that marked him out as a defender for the future vanished and he was eventually released by the club, ending up across the Rheinsee with Kesselburger Kickers. But Ranulph Bustamante still must see the potential in Charlie to warrant an inclusion with the Independents Cup squad. Perhaps Ranulph hopes to re-unearth Charlie's once-again-hidden talent.

LB: Caleb WAYNE 23 y/o, Wanda Island Wanderers

Caleb isn't a regular starter for any of the junior squads before this, but the few substitute appearances that he made from the bench earned him a big money move to Fluvique's Darwin City (3 million NSD, to be exact). Like many of the defensive players coming through Abanhfleft's academies in recent times, Caleb is a defender, specifically a left back, who likes to bomb forward when the opportunity arises, although he does do his defensive duties as well if called upon, thus giving him the potential to be a wingback or even a winger. He's also quite good in the air and could be relied on when defending set pieces or winning air balls. Now plays for Wanda Island Wanderers after a Catastrophic Termination Event engulfed Fluvique and left him among one of the few survivors.

DM: Andor GAÁL 23 y/o, Malabon SC

Lucjo Kleinmann's fellow Malabonian "wunderkind" is finally stepping up to the plate after spending a lot of time languishing on the bench of the under-18 and under-21 teams. But unlike Lucjo, who is the kind of central midfielder who gets in between the opposition's passing lanes and works to disrupt their offensive rhythm and win the ball, Andor is more of a box-to-box midfielder, chipping in on defensive duties when needed and ready to restart the attack when the ball gets poked out of the final third by the opponents. He's also good for a long-range shot, especially from his left foot, and he has scored his fair share of screamers. He will look to do so for his country on the senior level thanks to Ranulph Bustamante's belief in his ability.

CM: Luĉjo Miĥaelo KLEINMANN 25 y/o, Malabon SC

Kleinmann is finally in the starting eleven of a Fleftic national team, much to the relief of Malabon SC fanboys as well as Kleinmann fanboys even thought it's not the official starting eleven of Ranulph Bustamante. Everyone knows how good he is as a central defensive mid, and now he has proven that he can do it on a regular basis after finally earning the starting spot that the now-ineligible Joe Warren once occupied. Well, except for the fact that he was completely and utterly shit in the big game against Pasarga. Is he really as good as people think he is, or is he just another hyped-up talent who can't perform in the big games? Everyone from Ranulph Bustamante to the armchair managers sitting at home in Abanhfleft will soon find out.

CM: Toumain VINCELOT 28 y/o, Sarvusdalamoive

Toumain Vincelot is originally from the Anglatian colony of Patierre. His family fled to Abanhfleft after the Anglatians removed the Communist presence in the colony because the Vincelots had been known socialist sympathizers, although Toumain himself is apolitical. Vincelot is a tough, no-nonsense defensive-minded midfielder and will think nothing of going in for the sliding tackle if it meant breaking up the opposition's attack. Following stellar performances in the Independents Cup in Bonesea (including at least two Man of the Match awards), Vincelot has been called up to the senior national squad to replace the injured Alan Turpentine. Now sidelined for the entirety of the World Cup due to an injury sustained during a match against Revolutionary Nordskania.

CAM: Omar EL SALAH 27 y/o, General Santos FC

(Oontaz), on loan from Arsenal de Releinthi

Arsenal and Godric Wexler have always had a reputation for producing good players from their academy's ranks, and while Omar El Salah hasn't been on anyone's radars before last season, when El Salah came out to play in a few Premier League games to fill in for the injured Elliot Edison, and he has proven to be one of the better things about Arsenal's disappointing season. He scored his debut goal against Marinos Thimpodopoulos to give them a victory against their bogey team, and then El Salah scored his first goal in the Monsanto Stadium against Kimmirut Panhandle, the team that had knocked them out of the SFA Cup just a week earlier. El Salah is speedy and has great composure and finishing which belies his young age, but with many other good players ahead of him, he will have to wait for a few games before earning his first cap.

FW: Kevin KELVIN 33 y/o, Malabon SC

Well, here's a player that's finally playing in the level he deserves. Kevin Kelvin first came to attention during the World Cup 71 qualifiers as a stunning substitute striker that sent in lots of cool shots for the Democratic Republic. Unfortunately, this form hasn't carried to his club Electric Yugal, who were eventually relegated to Unang Liga last season. Fortunately for Kelvin once again, Adelmio Bandini saw potential in him and picked him up for Malabon for NS$10m. Not a bad price for a striker that scores tons when he's in form yet can be frustratingly bad when he's not in form. He loses his place to Vitaly Zima due to Kelvin still recovering from an earlier hamstring injury.

FW: Arthur MacALISTAIR 23 y/o, Wanda Island Wanderers

Arthur started his career as a left-sided midfielder but eventually found himself becoming a great winger, even if just for the under-18 and under-21 squad. His few substitute appearances during the latest Di Bradini Cup earned him a move to Fluvique's Athletic, where is now getting some more first-team minutes than he could have possibly expected from his first club. Owen Bevan got the most out of Arthur in the second Sporting World Cup as a winger, but was shifted back in deep midfield by Celerino delos Reyes, but for his first senior team roster mention, he's expected to be at least a winger once again. Replaces the totally and completely unused Yoshinobu Mori.

FW: Tristan LEE 35 y/o, Admiral Porcusces

Tristan was the greatest surprise of last season's Premier League, scoring a whopping 22 goals for Admiral Porcusces, leading them to their highest ever PL finish in their history. This is noteworthy because before his record goalscoring season, Lee's highest ever goal tally was just 10 goals in a season, and that was when Porcusces won the SFA Cup in 2010, and he was only 20 years old. And while Porcusces never really challenged for the title last season, the team as a unit were able to sneak into that vital fourth place to qualify them for the Antarctic Champions League. Ranulph Bustamante is a vocal fan of Tristan's tenacity and willingness to find the back of the net whatever the odds, and this earned Lee his first ever call-up to the national team. Hasn't been able to replicate that winning performance but still shows enough flashes and glimpses to merit inclusion in the qualifying squad. (Based on the one and only Vardy.)

East Belzaria had an incredible debut qualifying campaign. Despite a slow start in the first half, they still produced great results. They eventually went on a 5 game winning run which saw them defeat the Equestrian States, who finished top of the standings. In fact, the East Belzaria was the only opponent the Equestrian States failed to win against during the course of the qualifiers. As a result of these performances, East Belzaria finds itself invited to the Cup Of Harmony, which could be an ideal tournament for this nation.

David Madridson, the East Belzaria coach was interviewed regarding the progress of the national team. "Our hard work paid off." he says "We've made it because of the hard work we put in during the course of the qualifiers, despite our failure to really challenge for a spot." When asked what East Belzaria's goals were for the CoH, Madridson responded: "While I don't know what our group is yet, I hope we'll get out of it. And then we'll see what happens from there."

Lorn Monte confirmed he'd be in the East Belzaria team. He is currently on a temporary leave of absence ever since East Belzaria won the Kriosian Belt Championship. "I'll be there, and I intend to do the East Belzarians proud." he said. The East Belzaria team has already started training. They've all been living in the same appartment complex in Belzarian Command. "That deepens the team bond" says Harada Lopez, an East Belzaria defender.

Eyob Zonde formally replaces Vrenz Tambura in the starting lineup, and Demkjo Jzvanic trades numbers with Zoban Ajao after the latter's struggles to contribute consistently. Finally, Zemen Ystrad's struggles to play with discipline see him replaced in the starting lineup by Ctibor Tkermec. Elsewhere, Ortzi Perparim, Ozol Gebara, and Pzremors Dzetker played their way off of the reserve list and onto the roster proper, supplanting Gezan Djanetic, Rudi Dalso, and Yideg Abhe.

A new name on the block and one that will try and take the stage with a lot of nerves, lead out by Dusan Azzini. The 49-year old used to a prolific winger with a bit of a short temper but remastered himself into a pensive manager. Not sure what to expect from the international level, he took on the opposition with a blistering 3-4-1-2, heavily reliant upon the industriousness of his defensive block of five and the touch of genius from a pivotal Trevisan and star striker Prigidar. Expect Azzini to stand by his tactical scheme, preferring to go down in glory over a consolidated small loss. The Independents Cup, where Karulicja managed to look at least half-decent, confirmed his views on that and after a good run in the qualifiers, they got rewarded with a ticket for the Cup of Harmony on their debut.

The oldest player in the squad makes an imposing figure between the sticks, standing tall at nearly two metres. With his experience, he should be able to guide an insecure defensive line through the pitfalls of international football whilst dominating his box. It’s not rare to see him use the full space available, charging forward and tackling the ball out of danger. However, the national captain never was the quickest to the ground and can be beaten by a calm striker. Known as an art lover, one can find homemade paintings at the right dealers.

12 - Luca Bonnici (GK - 25 - Birxenda Wanderers – 2 games, 0 clean sheets)

Even if Bonnici ain’t an exceptional goalie, his skill in a one-on-one situation is well above average. Add to that a prolific penalty record and you’ve got yourself a goalie that can plant insecurity in the heads of the opposing strikers. Rather a late bloomer, this geography teacher by education had to fight for his spot at Birxenda for years. That he managed to win over the crowd after all testifies to his tenacity. Up until seventeen, the blonde - a rarity in Karulicja - goalie turned out as a left defender and inherited good feet from that experience.

23 - Jacopo Vianello (GK - 24 - Pro Sovanzaro)

One man on the squad knows that his chances to hit the field will be rare and it seems as a clever choice from Azzini to pick Vianello for such a role. Vianello makes a decent goalie, quick to the ground but a tad too short for the real top level, and is aware of his strengths and weaknesses. Don’t expect long complaints in the press if he’s kept on the bench. Nonetheless, some followers at Pro believe he should be aiming for the number one jersey once Moscardelli, inevitably, retires at some point. Not the man to pounce his fist on the table.

2 - Dexter Micallef (RD - 23 - Birxenda Wanderers – 21 games, 1 assist)

Tough and athletic, Micallef has the perfect build for a relentless defender with the stamina for infiltration. However, he’s not always that secure when moving into enemy territory, which could expose his wing. No wonder that the gaffer tries to mold him and his head - better used for heading - into a central defender in this system. Could be a revelation at this level, but on the other hand a liability. Great pressure on this player who is notorious for his love for sports cars. Has mentioned he aspires to partake in races one day - once it’s no longer forbidden by his club.

3 - Periklys Kaflas (CD - 29 - Apollon Grikada – 16 games, 1 assist)

The centerpiece of the three-man defence lined up by Dusan Azzini is tough as nails and combines a no-prisoners-taken policy with good positioning. Both do mask a little bit that he’s not the quickest of them all, which makes him resort at Grikada to the offside trap. We sense that the most famous bald man in Karulicja will try to use the little time with the national team to get his co-defenders to master that trick. Despite his imposing look, Kaflas is a family man and did all he could to ensure that his kids could watch the games live.

4 - Marko Ban (CD - 24 - Inter Valesjka – 23 games, 1 goal)

Quite possibly the most talented of our central defenders, Ban made a name for himself at one of the undisputable top clubs of the nation. Already at a young age, he became the cornerstone of the Inter back four - quite a feat in a traditional bastion as Valesjka. However, the guys around him, with a decade more experience under their belt, had to admit that his blend of physical prowess and good feet make a modern back as our country has so few. Not the best of friends with the press after a few scandals.

5 - Hamzi Derbali (LD - 26 - Racing Mazaf – 22 games, 1 goal, 3 assists)

Do not let the shirt jersey foul you, Derbali will appear rather as a left winger in the 3-4-1-2 set up by Azzini. Easily one of the key players of the team, this should allow him to roam along the wing and get some of his sweeping crosses in the box. Derbali combines unusual stamina with a cool head and more often than not, this allows him to still bring a last-second tackle or a decisive counterattack in the dying minutes. One of the few players who is well aware of the international scene, he might be ready to talk to the inevitable scouts.

13 - Wael de Angelis (CD - 32 - Societa Cadenza – 7 games)

One of the more disputed picks of Azzini, as de Angelis has gotten a negative reputation for being too prone to card-grabbing and lacks the speed to handle younger opponents. However, it would be unfair to discard a decade at the heart of possibly the most demanding team of the nation as ‘pure coincidence’. Azzini probably selected him as he’s known to be loyal and if he gets parachuted in in case of emergency, there’s already a connection with goalie Moscardelli - after all he’s the godfather of Roberto’s youngest son.

19 - Armend Rroshi (CD - 24 - Luftetari Eisan – 8 games)

Somewhere, probably in one of the various mind numbing industrial terrains in the suburbs of Eisan, there must be a factory where Luftetari manages to role tough-as-nails guys off the assembly line. Rroshi is a typical product of that school which takes every tackle on headfirst, sometimes literally, and who considers it an honour to defend any shirt you put him in. His technical limitations make him someone you throw in to park the bus and Azzini will probably put that role on his name. Powerful in the air as well, and good for a few successful headers each season. Moved into a starting position lately.

6 - Apostol Hysi (DM - 29 - Luftetari Eisan – 19 games, 1 goal)

In line with the guys behind him, Hysi refuses to lay down and the way he keeps on galloping up and down the pitch makes you think that Eisan installed a third lung a good decade ago when they hired him for the spot. Don’t expect him to create the danger or launch a decent pass into space, but he’s not put out there for that reason. Hysi is such a characteristic loyal soldier, you’ld think he’s playing it as an act. His silly interviews do contribute to that impression - he tends to reply his boutades with such enthusiasm, it’s a running gag to fans.

7 - Graziano Ceccarelli (DM - 22 - Pro Sovanzaro – 23 games, 1 goal, 2 assists)

Notably more technically apt than his counterpart at the heart of the line-up, Graziano should give the engine something more than just a lot of horsepower. He’s not afraid to direct the play and his crosses tear a hole in opposing defenses every once and a while. However, it brings a level of risk to this team that might bring it in trouble against the right opposition. Ceccarelli solves most of the defending part of his task set with good positioning but he’s not afraid to put his foot out either. A player with potential but a lot to learn and not just for his PhD in geography.

14 - Christos Gialousis (DM - 27 - Apollon Grikada – 3 games)

Gialousis is told he can’t give a half-decent pass, lacks the intelligence to appear in the right place and fails the discipline to follow the scheme set up. And to be fair, there’s a harsh truth uncovered right there. That he nonetheless makes the squad is due to his capacity to break the opposing attack, more often than not with a scythe-like tackle. Bringing him in could be a last resort for Azzini to defend a slim advantage or a rare draw but we struggle to see other uses for him. Oh, except for headbutting a rival coach - his counter is on three instances.

15 - Josip Pajic (CM - 21 - Inter Valesjka – 12 games, 1 goal)

Not the best passer of the selection but as his coach says, “Josip’s got brains and legs - you can’t have it all, right?”. Add to that a flawless mentality and a touching willingness to learn, and you get every manager’s dream. At his age, there’s still room for evolution - deciding the pace of a game is one of those things - but Pajic has the potential to have as much impact on Karulicja as he has on Inter. Rarely scores, but his wild appearances in the box do wreak some havoc and create room for guys with better food. A notorious amateur chef as well.

22 - Walid Mlaouek (CM - 21 - Racing Mazaf – 6 games, 1 goal)

A pick with an eye on the future as Mlaouek, who can combine a defensive role with dangerous infiltrations, makes a pretty picture as a modern football. Unfortunately, he tends to lose his head a little when the pressure is too much, a tendency that has gampered his progress so far. Nonetheless, Azzini is correct in detecting his obvious talent. He could come on as an alternative to both Trevisan, Ujkashi or Ceccharelli due to his stamina meets great feet combination. Earned some cult hero status domestically for crowdsurfing the Mazaf Kop after a derby victory.

10 - Giuseppe Trevisan (AM - 27 - Societa Cadenza – 18 games, 3 goals, 7 assists)

Some people say that every team can be defined by their number ten and in that case, our currently still nickname-less squad will come across quite industrious, tactically loose and with a very specific penchant for lobbing the leather behind the backs of unsuspecting defences. Trevisan has been the key man for Cadenza for a few years now and made his case as starter based on a combination of good statistics and almost no off-days. However, he’s not an ultratalent and needs good support to truly become valuable. Loves touching the ball and will fold back far when necessary.

16 - Blazo Ujkashi (AM - 26 - Luftetari Eisan – 11 games, 2 goals, 2 assists)

Not necessarily the second best attacking midfielder of the nation - something which assured Azzini with a lot of stick when he added Ujkashi to the selection. But, it must be said that he offers something different than Trevisan with a lot of movement and a powerful shot which reaps results. Having him on your XI does cost you a guy in your defensive framework and as such, it’s a risk to field him from kick-off onwards. However, Blazo does have that spark and is a hero in Eisan - or how do you call a guy with a stand named after him at 26? His good performances in the IC put him on equal footing with Trevisan.

8 - Ales Kunstelj (RW - 21 - Olimpia Lusinja – 20 games, 4 goals, 4 assists)

Author of an incredible life story, Kunstelj got kicked out of his home at fifteen - seemingly in line with his school career which reads as a full list of all colleges in the north. However, since he was picked up by an Olimpia scout who noticed how he scammed unknowing youngsters of their lunch money by nutmegging them near the pier, his life reached unprecedented stability. The shortest of the squad features incredible dribbles and is pocket sized joy for all - well, except for the guys who pick up his defensive work in this system.

17 - Anis Khalloufi (LW - 18 - Racing Mazaf – 8 games, 1 goal, 2 assists)

Being the only teenager selected should already testify to his talent, knocking on the door of the starting line-up confirms it all. Khalloufi moves swiftly and can be parachuted into practically any attacking position. His lack of experience shines through, however, and even if he has his usual clubmate Derbali behind him, his love of forcing his way through the defence might lead to danger. Nonetheless, the neutral fan will adore seeing him set the place alight and his open attitude to interviews “yeah, I’m that good, mate” adds to that.

21 - Dino Stipic (LW - 22 - Inter Valesjka – 2 games)

After a long period of remaining below the surface, Stipic had his definitive breakthrough season last year with a series of perfect crosses for Prigidar - a partnership which hasn’t gone unnoticed to the manager. Contrary to most in his position, Stipic started out as a defender as a consequence of his limited speed. He compensates this with impeccable timing and the stamina to keep his rushes coming till the final minute. His defensive accountability makes him a polyvalent tool in the kit for the gaffer. Stipic is a huge boardgame fan, which should be handy for the trips.

9 - Danijel Prigidar (RA - 31 - Inter Valesjka – 23 games, 15 goals, 4 assists)

Some point to Derbali, others to Trevisan but the majority of observers considers Danijel Prigidar as the main man of the Karulicjan line-up. Robust in the box, goal-oriented without being too selfish, clever in his positioning, … As such, he’s a dream for any midfielder as he always attempts to create the danger and poses himself as reliable. Many wonder if his mediocre speed and average heading - for his height - will not handicap him against defenders of a higher tier but until we’re there, the whole nation gets behind Prigigol.

11 - Mauro Pagliarulo (LA - 23 - Societa Cadenza – 21 games, 5 goals, 4 assists)

Azzini made it no secret that he preferred players he considered useful for the team, instead of the biggest talents and Pagliarulo forms no exception that rule. Even at his club, most would consider him the understudy of the local goalgetter Altacci. But contrary to his counterpart, Pagliarulo covers a lot of ground, opens up space for others and will never put his own stats over those of the team. His aim is not always spot on and it’s not too rare to see him caught offside - but he’s good for the group and not just as the resident bookie.

18 - Ciro Piccini (CA - 28 - Pro Sovanzaro – 14 games, 6 goals, 2 assists)

And just when we all believed Azzini managed to gather a disciplined, motivated squad, he dropped a little bomb by putting Piccini on the final spot. Having made quite a reputation for himself quarreling with managers, presidents, referees and fans alike in between filling up tabloids for his adventures in bars and motels, Piccini almost makes people forget he’s a deadly assassin in the box whose precision one-on-one is unmatched. During the Independents Cup, he showed he’s not the rotten tomato in the pack but the dangerous ace up the sleeve.

20 - Gianni Altacci (ST - 26 - Societa Cadenza – 7 games, 2 goals)

Statisticians are still out on the case but we dare to assume that Altacci has the highest goals per minute ratio of any Karulicjan striker out there. One could say it’s one of the perks for playing at Cadenza, probably our biggest team, others point out he’s got an amazing shot, powerful and precise. But he also, despite good intentions, struggles to last ninety minutes and even has a bit of a belly peeping out. No wonder that the Societa tifosi admire him as one of their own - queue fans buying him beer around the clock - and opposition fans bring out the ‘who ate all the pies’ chant.

The world cup qualifiers campaign can only be described as a never-ending curse, a nearly flawless campaign only to be ruined in a catastrophic fashion by Audioslavia in the playoffs. However, this defeat hasn't taken its toll on the team as of yet, since the Juven squad received an invitation for the Cup of Harmony, a great opportunity for the team to add silverware back to its shelves. Team tactics

Refreshed squads don't necessarily mean change of tactics for the gli attaccanti as it not only sticks to its name, but its tactics as well. Since the team has a lot of young players of extreme stamina and speed, this means the team sticks to its counter-offensive play that has so helped them to win a Cup of Harmony and qualify for its first ever world cup. The team will usually either do long balls from defense that will try to find any of the offensive players at a good spot, or will use a strong passing game and strike from the side then eventually going to the center to pressure with a barrage of shots from just a bit outside the box to a long distance outside the box.

BACKGROUND
Adab had a stunning run in the World Cup 81 qualifiers, far exceeding the expectations of even the national team's biggest fans. Placed in Group 5 alongside, among others, World Cup giants Starblaydia and Audioslavia, the country managed to place third and at times seemed on the cusp of actually qualifying for the competition. To say that this was a remarkable showing would be an understatement; Adab was ranked 260th at the beginning of the qualifiers and was widely tipped to end up on the bottom of the table. Only recently emerging from a ten-year suspension, the national team consisted entirely of players selected in a nationwide trial, the oldest of whom was 20. Nevertheless, the Adabians defied their critics and proved themselves a genuinely competitive side, defeating every nation which ended up below them on the table (except for Kalumba, with whom the Adabians drew two times) and giving Starblaydia and Audioslavia a run for their money. Their stellar performance turned the players and staff into national heroes, catapulted Adab to 97th place in the world ranking, and earned them an invitation to the Cup of Harmony (CoH), which they promptly accepted.

Manager Saad Kaykali has made no changes to the team and tactics and is not expected to do so. "It has worked really well for us. Why should we change it?" Kaykali stated at the press conference announcing the national team's participation in the CoH. "What matters now is our self-belief and willpower. We have shocked the world and we will do it again."

At the same time, however, following that Thibaea match, Siovanija and Teusland would not win any of their remaining 5 matches, and the faint hopes of qualification that existed were quickly extinguished. “It’s disappointing, really, because we played quite well for the majority of that tournament. I know the lads are all eager to make up for the way the ending went,” commented Dzekov at the press conference announcing the squad selection for the Cup of Harmony. The Goldhorns will jet off to Cassadaigua or fellow Southwestern Atlantian Oceania neighbour the Equestrian States to compete.

Centre back has long been a position of instability for the Goldhorns: Raphael Klopfer is far and away the leader in appearances, with 44 caps. Beside him, there has been a series of several players, including current favourite Nikola Karapetrov. Karapetrov and Klopfer formed a solid partnership throughout the World Cup Qualifiers, and Klopfer has really developed into an important leader for the team. Erich Thierse was capped four times in the Qualifiers and hopes to be another name to break into the first-team squad, while Stefan Licht is eager to reclaim the place that was once his in the starting XI.

Thorsten Helmke, though a little more cautious, fills in for him quite well, and as Daschner gets older, it’s likely that this may be one of his final tournaments in the number 2 shirt.

The key to success at the international level for Siovanija and Teusland has always come through the midfield. In particular, the duo of Vladimir Kostov and Thorsten Kramer in the middle of the park has been quite effective for the team. Kramer is the national team’s leader in appearances, and has developed a reputation as an ‘iron man’: always willing to run, always willing to press, even when everyone around him is exhausted. The fact he has featured in 49 of 53 total international matches adds to that status. Kramer is one of the most skilled players in the lineup, and his effectiveness at the international level has continued to increase. He was named to the World Cup 80 ‘Team of the Qualifiers.’ Beside him, Vladimir Kostov is a physical presence, rarely losing the ball and always being able to win it back. Dennis Brotzmann has made 29 appearances at the international level, and his game falls more into the style of Kostov, who he has deputized well for in the past.

Paulus Leistner has really made the left wing position his own for the national team, despite facing some challenges over the years. His ability to play the ball into difficult positions has been valuable, and he’s been able to score some important goals across his 34 caps as well. Lutz von Bergen will follow him, the Stahlberg winger used to an offensive system. Von Bergen has been able to make a solid impact over his 11 caps, with 2 goals and 4 assists, and it is well known that he has the trust of Alan Dzekov.

Centre Attacking Midfield

In the number 10 role, no-one can touch star man Viktor Dimitrov. A mainstay with the national team throughout his career, the playmaker has amassed 26 assists in his career. His ability to read the play and cut open defenders with through balls has won him a lot of praise, especially from those who play with him. Ernst Schoff has been called upon to back him up, the Teussen midfielder having made 6 appearances so far for the national team.

Right Wing

Ivo Romanov has been the national team’s biggest surprise throughout his career. He was always expected to be a reliable option on the right side, but he has developed into a game-changing player. That was emphasized as he led his Olympia Borograd side to a dominating Republikaliga title, Romanov himself contributing a 21-goal campaign. Transfer speculation currently surrounds him, however, as he looks set to leave Borograd in the transfer window. Romanov has declined to comment on it, however, and it appears as if this will not impact the team going into the tournament. Behind him, young Leo Heiden made a good impression on his 4 caps in Qualifiers, and will be hoping to see more game time as the tournament progresses.

The most difficult selection dilemmas for Alan Dzekov always lie up front. Krasimir Kynev, the Olympia Borograd striker who grabbed 9 goals in 9 appearances in World Cup Qualifiers, gets the number 9 shirt. He was a dominant force for the Goldhorns, and even when scoring seemed to dry up near the end of Qualifiers, his form never faded. Michael Ribbeck, who really broke out at the international level at AOCAF LVI, was also quite successful in Qualifiers, with 2 goals in his 4 appearances. Miroslav Dinev, who found his best form as Qualifiers wore on, including scoring the Goldhorns’ first-ever hat-trick against Sangti, found the back of the net 8 times throughout the Qualifying tournament. The team captain, he will be a very solid option off the bench or starting games. As he grows older, and with younger blood pushing for his spot, however, one wonders just how much time he has left.

East Belzaria manager David Madridson didn't seem too fearful when presented with the Cup of Harmony 73 Group Stage draw. East Belzaria were in Pot 4 for the draw and were placed with some tough opposition in the form of Juvencus. But Madridson wasn't worried. "It's a group of opportunity" he said "I haven't become manager of East Belzaria by being fearful. If we approached the World Cup qualifiers that way, we wouldn't have been invited to the CoH. So Let's go out there, and deliver a great performance."

East Belzaria faces Qusmo in their opening Cup Of Harmony game. Looking at the fact that Juvencus is up next, East Belzaria should focus on winning this clash as it is most likely their best chance to get out of the group. During the course of qualifiers East Belzaria was able to play defensivley solid. They kept 7 cleansheets during qualifying. But in other games, they fell apart. Either way, they have shown their ability to limit their opponents chances. East Belzaria will have to use this to their advantage as they look to take down Qusmo.
