NS Name: Arkeyana DONE
Nation Name: The Artok Imperium
Flag:
Image

Capital: Sceptus, Lanik System

population size: 2 billion Artok, 300 billion Ivory
Primary species: The Artok are a race of massive, pale blue, winged creatures. They walk on four legs, the front two being their wings, and the rear two being clawed legs. Their faces resemble ovals of polished wood with symbols carved into them.

The Ivory are a race of Psionically-animated automatons, while the majority are humanoid, there are many different shapes and sizes, ranging from immense starships to tiny spiders. They possess psionic capabilities as well.
Culture:
Artok Culture is centered around pursuit of knowledge and the creation of Art and Philosophy. They meditate for months at a time, paint elaborate murals, and compile lengthy scientific reports.

Ivory Culture is enigmatic, though there is seemingly a priority put on rememberance, every tragedy, every battle, every kill is remembered somehow. Ivories can be seen meditating like their Artok creators, though for them it is to speak to their ancestors. After battles, they plant the weapons of the fallen into the ground, signifying how many warriors fell in defense of the Imperium. Ship Ivories will fire off their Arc blasts as a salute, Titans kneel over their fallen, and much, much more.
Nation History: The Artok developed on the planet of Sceptus. More specifically, they developed in the immense caverns and canyons that tunneled across the rocky planet's surfaces. Over time, they gradually developed into civilizations, underground city-states warring with each other. The first Psionically-gifted Artok were born, and they were considered avatars of the gods. Duelling each other in the heat of battle, amidst the warriors fighting wing and claw. Come when the Industrial age was starting to swing into action, and psionics had become a specieswide thing, Ivory was discovered. The first Ivory constructs were created within a year, mass farming of the substance followed a decade later after it was discovered that Ivory grows. Ivory Cities were constructed, Ivory weapons were perfected, the Artok reached space and colonized their system, and Low population made it...well, no strain on resources.

Then the Artok discovered FTL. They exploded from their system to the surrounding, uninhabited space. Ivory ships plied the void, setting down on new worlds. Over time, the Ivory became the neumerically dominant species, as the low-birthrate Artok grew within their own system, some philosophers and monks travelling into the void for Isolation and Meditation. They grew, before capping off at a little over one thousand systems. The Ivory stood vigilant, overlooking the space beyond their borders with a cold, unemotional eye. There was the occasional foray into their space, but the invading armies were always crushed under their weapons. Titans loomed over Battlefields, ships hovered at the edge of Systems, fortresses stood at the ready.

Now, however, the Artok have issued an order, their borders remain heavily defended, but exploration fleets have warped out of it, taking to the stars on what is called "The Pilgrimage", where they explore the galaxy, spreading their philosophy to all those who wish to hear it. Many refer to this as 'The Age of Voyages', and rightfully so, the only question is: Will they be able to last in this galaxy?
Unique Technologies:
Fireblaster: A Psionically powered weapon that sends out blasts of blue, raw psionic energy.
Psionic AI: Artificial Intelligence that, instead of being computerized, is an immaterial manifestation of conciousness, an artificial 'Soul', if you could call it that.
Ivory: A Psionically reactive, natural material found on the Artok Homeworld. Using it, one can make weapons, beings, cities, anything as long as you know how to animate it.
Psi-shields: Psionically powered shields
Arc Relays: The Ivory ship-based weapon of choice, it fires a beam of energy that Arcs toward it's target, and can be used to beam aboard Boarding parties.

Military Size: 10 billion.
Military Description:
Navy-The Ivory Navy is a single, standard multipurpose ship class. The only difference being size, as they grow over the years. Currently, many lie within the Battleship range, though a few remain in the Battlecruiser range and a few are in the Carrier range. They can handle many operations, ranging from transporting troops to battling other ships.

Army-Unlike their Naval counterparts, the Army has a very wide variety of soldier types, ranging from the average Soldier, to the Boarding Marine, to the Almighty Titan, they vary wildly, their weapons spitting blasts of blue fire and crackling shockwaves of lightning.
Soldier appearance:
Image
Titans are immense war machines, used in only the most grisly of sieges. They are armed with one Arc Relay and one Psionic Fireblaster. They also bear Psi-shielding.

ImageBoarding troops are optimized for close combat, beamed aboard enemy ships before tearing into the enemy with their Electro Claws. They can tear through Bulkhead doors like they are paper, and with a stab into the floor send a blast of electricity forward to kill enemies. Their electro claws can transform into either a forward shield generator or a dual heavy Fireblaster.

Image The bread and butter of the land forces, they are beamed down by the hundreds during invasions, their Fireblasters tearing into enemy ranks and vehicles, Power Swords crackling to life as they close to melee.

Standard Ship Appearance:
Image Ivory Ships start out small, around the size of frigates, before slowly growing. The current generation of ships are in the battleship range, with some in the Carrier and battlecruiser ranges. Their armaments consist of an increasing number of Arc Relays, currently that number is around three hundred arranged around the Hull. Oftentimes boarding parties will be beamed aboard by the Arc Relays if the shields on the enemy ship are down, the Marines wreaking havoc on the interior as they seek out the ship's bridge and engine room.

Image These buggers are responsible for the defense of Ivory Ships. Armed with six missile silos and not much else, they are nonetheless intimidating when in large numbers.

Curious. Although not sure how the Federation would fair against a Hivemind.

NS Name: The Empire of Tau
Nation Name: The Collective Conglomerate of Associated Entities For Common Mutual Aid and Defense of Ecclesiastical and Civil - (Colcong)
Flag: N/A
Capital: Abbott System.

Population size: 150 Billion
Primary species:
Mutants : Deformed, mutated, and overall odd, the species that once was, are no longer around, and or the same anymore. Mutants are what would many people call the population of Colcong. There is no one “specie” in Colcong. Everyone is unique, as in being a mutated monstrosity, either with extra lungs, arms, heads, brains, having been turned into a spider-monster that lay hundreds of thousands of eggs, etc. Reproduction among these mutants is also fast, and by fast, I mean rat-breeding fast.

Culture: The culture within the borders of Colcong are various among the vast gatherings of sub-factions and organizations. There is no one major culture to simply pick up upon.

Nation History:
Long before Colcong, there were two warring empires. Their war got so intense that it left a massive junkyard in a section of space that is now commonly called the Dead Zone - hosting plenty of ruined ships, scrap, and other salvageable goodies. Unfortunately for the mentioned two empires, they are long gone and non-relevant, gone with the mist of time. However upon two leftover planets, Shola and Ujico, this is where our story starts. Now you see, these two planets were hive-worlds with a fuckton of people on it. Once the war was over, the population rebelled. From there, it derailed into various factions fighting for power on both worlds.

On Shola, there was a coming issue for some, manpower. The Agency of Armonk, one of the various factions on Shola, came up with the idea of simply just cloning to sustain their casualty rate. The only issue was that they had forgotten to properly fix the contingent fillers. Unsurprisingly, someone had “accidentally” dropped a Evolutionary Virus into the cloning vats. That created mutated monstrosities, who broke out and took over the Amonk’s cloning facility. Then said mutants decided to clone more of themselves, along with breeding like rats to make a horde. Not only that, they also created a more spreadable Evolutionary Virus with plans to turn the whole population of Shola into one happy family of mutants. These mutants saw it as their job to “uplift” the people on Shola.

While the mutants went about infecting everyone on Shola, Ujico had been under the heavy handed rule of a Eldritch entity by the name of AM - a hyper-intelligent sentient being. AM had its sights on Shola, seeking to unite the two planets under its banner of rule. However, the mutants did its purpose on Shola, turning the population into mutated freaks and gaining control over Shola.

Interestingly enough, the war between the two planets never started, as a outside force (a rotobic rouge AI fleet) had temporarily caused a provisional government to form, known as the People’s National Assembly. Before the AI was beaten in a decisive void battle upon the planet of Ujico, the machines managed to steal the Evolutionary Virus from the mutants on Shola - infecting everyone on Ujico.

After the defeat of the machines, the People’s National Assembly became the de facto power to ensure that no civil war or outside power would kill them off. Unfortunately, said provisional government became extremely corrupt and incompetent in the few years, it was in power. Soon, people lost faith in the Assembly, and broke off to form new factions.

The People’s National Assembly dissolved once all the various different factions of Shola and Ujico meet on aboard a abandoned titan ship, later built-up and transformed into a functional ship, to form what is known today as the Collective Conglomerate of Associated Entities For Common Mutual Aid and Defense of Ecclesiastical and Civil, or Colcong.

Unique Technologies:
Scavengers of the Void : Not so much a technology, but a tradition. Given that the various organizational entities of Colcong rely on salvaging and recycling the scraps and junk of the Dead Zone for most economical activity, it’s common place for engineers and other skilled workers to know how to scrap everything from a object (and rebuild said scrap junk into something usable). Unlike normal nations where ships are made in standardized shipyards and all, Colcong literally scraps together random pieces of salvaged metal and junk into a ship with jerry-rigged warp drives, guns, etc. This could be said for many other industries of Colcong too.

Planetary Void Shields : Given that two planets hosts a vast majority of Colcong’s population, it’s understandable that the businesses, guilds, and what have you, have a common interest in ensuring that Shola and Uijco are not blown up. Thus, Planetary Void Shields were made to shield their two precious home-worlds from danger. Void Shield are essentially super-buffed up Energy Shields that can withstand the likes of high multi-nuclear yields, and or asteroids, etc.

Evolutionary Virus : The Evolutionary Virus is a contingent responsible for the rapid mutation of Colcong’s population. It’s mainly now used by the many factions of Colcong for medical, biological, and scientific research. It’s main characteristics, as said before, causes heavy mutation, with the potential to expand the EV’s roles and straits.

Warp-FTL-Disturbance-Field: Equivalent to anti-FTL technology, Warp-FTL-Disturbance-Field produces “warp fields” that causes heavy anomalous magnetic storms in space. Such anomaly, besides from the loss of FTL to enemy ships, heavily disturbs/weakens ship shielding and onboard electronics.

Military Size: 5% of the Population.
Military Description:
Naval- There’s no true form of regulation when it comes to the naval arm of Colcong. Most ships is built up from a salvaged hull, and or entirely jerry-rigged together via various, often crude, means. This often means that most ships are custom and unique from another ship. Although standardized ships are a rare thing in Colcong, with only the most advanced factions being able to build standardized and sophisticated ships - most who built their ships have their own onboard manufacturing center to fit their ship’s needs. Not only that, the personnel on these scrap ships are usually very skilled engineers, workers, constructors, etc. How else would they be able to keep a flying piece of scrap metal running on a thermonuclear reactor made from junk that they found in space? While ship quality is very questionable, the crude nature of these ships - make it easily replaceable and simple to repair. When it comes to doctrine, that’s all up to the leadership and faction that the fleet is in.

Army- Unlike the navy, the land army of Colcong are a bit more cohesive in their arms and equipment. Although there is no set rule of regulation and standardization, most people would simply take the most commonly made weapon and pick that as their standard weapon. This form of “pick and choose” is the most common method of selecting equipment for the various organizational entities of Colcong. However, like the navy, doctrine and organization of the armed land forces are various among the leaders and the organization that the army is in.

Soldier Appearance: N/A (can't find a good representation)
Standard Ship Appearance:
Image
Image

Titan Ships
The Forge - This titan of a ship is the mainstay of Colcong’s navy. Measuring 90,000 kilometers long, the Forge acts as a massive titan-factory that acts as a support ship and a carrier for hordes of cheap-ass-scrap-fighters, and bombers.

NS Name: Korhal IVV
Nation Name: Federation of Free Stars
Flag:

Capital: Nordr Kas, Hesien System

population size: 189 billion
Primary species: Talarians, Ensari, Luminari, Thanari, and more than 100 other minor species.
Culture: The Federation is a conglomeration of various races, and their cultures are myriad as well. However, the most prominent features of the Federation’s diverse culture are its democratic ideals and emphasis on freedom. The Federation believes that the existence of distinct social classes like nobles and commoners are just excuses to oppress the weak and powerless. Though there are wealthy as well as less fortunate citizens in the Federation, the poorest people are still fully capable of having some level of comfort in their lives. The Federation has some of the highest living standards in the galaxy, as their post-scarcity society and high automation ensures that most citizens are educated and financially capable.

While being a mostly unaggressive nation, the Federation is highly militarized due to the constant threats arrayed against it. In addition, the Federation has reasoned that in order to defend their freedom from autocratic invaders, they have to be capable of presenting a robust defence. Serving in the military is considered a noble profession, as they are considered as protectors of democracy’s ideals.

Nation History:

The Federation was borne out of the single conflict that troubled the League of Talarian Republics in the ancient days: The Eight Year Rebellion. Six thousand years ago, many of the people of the Republics were discontent. The megacorporations and their cronies in the upper and middle classes hoarded all the wealth of the League, while the lower classes shared none of their prosperity. Many of the aliens that were subject to the Talarians were routinely disadvantaged by the policies of the League; the Talarian lower classes at the very least could better their positions through hard work and cunning. But the non-Talarians, such as the Ensari and Luminari, were intentionally disadvantaged by the absence of opportunities that were given to them. In the midst of the squalor and oppression, the republicans of the Korzahap Clan rose up to stir up the people to rebellion. Inspired by Zultan Korzahap, full half of the Tech Guard and Cosmo Navy forces discarded their loyalties to the megacorps, joined the rebellion, and turned the nation to a battlefield.

After eight years of war, it became clear to the Korzahap Insurgents that they have no real hope of true victory. The megacorps had the Legions, Nelraza, and the remaining Tech Guard and Cosmo Navy forces under their command. With their forces outmatched, a plan was formulated for them to flee the League entirely in search for a new land. This was in response to a renewed LTR counterattack, and worlds were being glassed one after another. Hundreds of colony ships, accompanied by thousands of smaller starships, abandoned the League’s territories and set out for a new land.

The journey was hard. The fleet was beset by pirates, solar flares, asteroids, and other dangers. Rationing was common, as the colony ships couldn’t support too many people at once. Full half of the thirteen billion individuals who left the League died on the way.

However, the north west, they found a group of worlds suitable for colonization. On the Heinessenn Sector, those who fled the tyranny of the megacorps founded the Federation of Free Stars. Here, they will thrive, growing in a land where they swore to uphold the ideals of democracy and freedom in a galaxy of autocrats. No one would be born with the right to rule others. No one can claim power by standard of wealth. No one can claim lordship through bloodline. Only those that the people choose can lead them, and such leaders are the servants of the people; they have been given power not to rule, but to lead and serve.

The League would remain oblivious with the Federation’s existence for the millennia to come, but the Federation would rapidly expand its territories through diplomacy and strategic alliances. Various species would flock under the protection afforded to them by the Federation, especially when every major power has the tendency to crush the insects under their boots. However, in AD 1728, the Sixth Legion, the Pyran Fireguard, encountered a Federation battlefleet headed for liberating a nearby system from alien conquerers. The Federation fleet commanded by Admiral Lentauri Tarvo recognized the Legion Fleet as their erstwhile oppressors and opened fire, resulting in the destruction of 59 of the 100 Legion ships under Haderon Sadan. From then on, the League and Federation would be in a cold war; technically at war but no major battles were fought, as the distance between them is too great.

Now, the Federation is nearing its entry into the galactic stage. Machine men lurk nearby. Man and alien slaughter each other in the south. The north reeks of danger and death. But despite it all, the Federation will be a candle in the darkness; a shining light in a galaxy of shadow.
Unique Technologies:

Psychic Amplification: While the League has concerned itself with virtual reality technology, the Federation was turned to the psychic arts. Genetic modification at birth has made every Talarian in the Federation psychic to some degree, and any of the other species that wish such modifications to be done on their children are readily granted their wish. Due to their psychic nature, the soldiers of the Federation can communicate to each telepathically to the point that their minds are interconnected when in close proximity with each other. The end result is almost perfect synchronisation with one another, making their forces a deadly force if the Federation and its ideals are threatened. In addition, a few select individuals have their psychic powers mutate at some point, making them powerful psychic warriors in battle. These psionic warriors are capable of conjuring bolts of psychic lightning and enhanced telepathy and telekinetics.

Sentient and Advanced Artificial Intelligence: The AI’s in the vessels of the Federation are not just intelligent; they are sentient to the point that they considered Federation citizens as well. They are capable of forming humanoid bodies known as mental models from nanomaterials, and they often take the form of a Talarian female. However, they cannot do operations outside of their given authority level.

In addition to having true sentience, they are capable of redownloading and downloading their programs into different platforms. They can transfer from controlling a Krav Frame to becoming the mind of a warship, allowing the Federation to completely eschew crewing the majority of their ships and instead will entrust the job to their AI’s. There is no chance of an AI rebellion, as despite their sentience, they are inherently fanatically loyal to the Federation; it is the single constant in their programming.

Military Size: 945 million
Military Description: The Federation’s collective military forces are known as the Interstellar Defense Force or the IDF. The Federation will only resort to military force if threatened directly, or when a nearby system is seen to be oppressed by autocratic conquerers. Otherwise, the Free Stars will try to get its way through diplomacy and strategic alliances.

The IDF is divided into four branches: the Star Navy, the Free Corps, the Auxilia, and the Schola Progenum.

The Star Navy has in its jurisdiction all of the starships of the Federation. Having a total of 7,340 starships in its disposal, the Star Navy is a foe to be reckoned with. While the League uses ships that appear to be spaceborne variations of aquatic craft, the Federation uses designs that are long and narrow, with multiple particle cannons and missiles mounted throughout the ship. It is divided into 7 sector fleets with ~1,000 ships each.

The Free Corps are the main standing army of the Federation. It is comprised of volunteers from across the Federation’s territories, hence its name. Contrary to one may think, the Free Corps is well equipped and trained; it is fully capable of being a match towards the armies of the other nations.

The Auxilia are soldiers drawn to defend each planet in the Federation; they can be called a planetary defence force. They are less well equipped than the Free Corps and are not as well trained, but they are still just as dedicated to their duty.

The Schola Progenum is responsible for the training of the Federation’s psykers. They train promising younglings and teach them to harness their psychic capabilities to the full while maintaining discipline as not to use their powers irresponsibly.

Anyone want to take in an exile clan that the Rvet near completely purged and have sworn a blood feud against nearly their entire species?

(Rv’Lonat customs demand the repayment of favors, so if you were to take them in and support their vengeance (even in indirect ways) they'd swear loyalty to your nation for generations to come)

I'm not sure where the line is drawn in "Be reasonable with tech", but I wanted to create a nomad race so I did :p

NS Name: The GAmeTopians
Nation Name: The Wanderers
Flag:

Capital: Flagship “New Horizons”

population size: Roughly 200 billion
Primary species:
Image

Culture: A nation of science and discovery, exploration of the unknown and the development of technology are the core elements of Wanderer life. Although Wanderers do have plenty of time for recreation thanks to their lengthy travels in space, long hours in labs are inevitable as their focus on discovery pushes them to find more and more.
Nation History: From the moment the Wanderers left their tiny, hostile homeworld to reach for the stars, they have embarked on an endless journey of discovery. Though some have left the Fleet to establish colonies on planets the Fleet has encountered, such individuals are few and far between. As generations passed, the Fleet has grown dramatically in size, slowly transitioning from the dozens of normal ships that first left the Wanderer homeworld to hundreds of Titanhome behemoths.
They have continued to wander through the universe, both known and unknown, investigating mysteries and developing new technologies along the way. Interactions with other civilizations have been largely peaceful - the Wanderers offered technology in exchange for unknown tech or useful supplies. Their ultimate goal is to discover all the secrets of the universe, uncovering every hidden treasure that it has to offer.
Unique Technologies:
Titanhome, the Planet Ship: Titanhomes are ships even larger than Titans, hundreds of kilometers in length. Rather than living on planets, the Titanhomes are the dwellings of every Wanderer, and they travel together as the Fleet. They vary slightly in length thanks to the availability of materials and when they were built, along with various catastrophes over the centuries destroying various parts of the Titanhomes.

Military Size: 10 billion, however the condensed nature of Nomad life means pretty much anyone can pick up a weapon and help out.
Military Description: The military is the main alternative to being a scientist or explorer for Wanderers, since the only other options are becoming a worker doing manual labor, becoming a dedicated breeder to maintain the population, or leaving the Fleet altogether. It benefits greatly from the technological focus of the nation, with even basic soldiers touting the finest equipment around.

It's an interesting idea. The Arkaean Federation would take them in. Maybe not on the home-world but certainly somewhere comfortably.

Cool. They wouldn't expect to be on your homeworld anyway. In fact, they'd probably prefer it if they got some random planet were they could keep to themselves. As a heads up, they wouldn't expect or appreciate being subsumed into whatever state they seek refuge in. Instead, they would offer to become a vassal to whoever gave them a planet to settle on and protection from their rivals back in the Imperial Hegemony. In return they'd give technological secrets and taxes by way produced goods (since they wouldn't be too keen on adopting alien currency systems) once they get their industry set up. They'd also provide manpower for future military endeavors.

If that sounds good to you then I'll include them showing up in Arkaean space in my next post.

The Arkaean Federation would offer them a planet to settle on provided they accepted a Federation Governor and a military outpost on their planet. The Federation Governor would not attempt to govern them but would act as a liaison between Rv'Lonat and Arkaean. They would also have to abide by Federation Law in any dealing with the Arkaeans.

That would be acceptable. I'm a bit busy, so probably won't get a post up till late tomorrow.
