Celebrating a good Harvest (IC, OPEN)

Postby The Selkie » Sun Sep 23, 2018 3:19 am

Hello and welcome to Celebrating a good Harvest!
This RP is open, but please apply and be accepted on this OOC before posting!
Thanks and let's have fun!

Shella, Main Town Square.
For Amy Ollmhór of the Tribe of Dundalk, IT-Specialist, Model, Actress and Air Race Pilot, there was no feeling more special then to return to her Hometown, to Lovely Shalla, the Town in the Cliffs - and especially on this day.
Today, Selkie especially in the Free Lands and in the whole wide world in general, celebrated the Harvest, which hopefully went well, the end of summer and the Day of the Autumn Equinox. Storm Season would soon begin, but still...
She grinned. So many people, and the festival itself hasn't even started yet!
Many of them had most likely followed the invitation of Mistress Cathlong, who invited every- and anybody, who wanted to celebrate the festival, see the Fletching Cup and the Guard Cup, as well as help raise money for the Cabhair Group's Efforts for the education of Children in Warzones.
The harbour of Shella, both the Inner and the Outer ones, were overflowing, as did the Seaplane Port. Amy had spotted the Colm, the Cineál, the Aurelia... and quite a lot of foreign vessels as well, in addition to the local fishing boats and the fisheries research vessel Trosc.
And Shella itself had put out all stops.
Used to being a tourist town, the little town on its own little island had begun to erct booths and small stages for artists, as well as a large central stage here on the Main Town Square, every larger inn beginning to light the fires for grilling (fire extinguishers being present in a more then sufficient number), many shops setting themselves up for a good and long day.
And that was not even mentioning the Upper Town and their efforts for the Cups!
One could spot many rather famous faces around these parts while browsing.
Of course, Amy was not here for dilly-dallying, she had a job to do: The IT-Specialist was setting up the wiring for the live-stream from the Central Stage, as some very famous people and bands would be playing later, coordinating everything with radio and TV. That was a lot of fun, but as soon as everything was set up, including the Harvest Sacrafice, she would leave everything in the capable hands of her underlings.
Only an hour or so before everything started...
Amy was excited, as seen by the large grin she wore.

Filleadh House, Shella Upper Town.
I still believe, that it was wonderful of Mister Barriall to allow me to use their vacation home in Shella as both the place for the party and as a headquarters. The Barriall-Family, a family of influential people, of course had vacation homes, one here in Shella, and their only request in return had been to take Yven and Caoimhe, their kids, along.
I had a very specific plan for the building in the Upper Town of Shella.
Here, we would all reunite.
By sheer coincidence, a lot of the old lads and lassies from the Purgatio Student Exchange found their way to Shella and we organized a Reunion here, Cao, Yven and a few other lads and lassies I knew helping out. Sure, it was not a big and fancy party, but Filleadh House was more then capable of holding all of us, especially with the garden over the cliffs, which gave the town its monicker.
It was a two-storey building, build of timber and stone, massive enough to withstand whatever punishment storms threw at it, but that was not important. The garden was.
Two trees allowed shade to a series of tables, where the nibbles would come to, as well as a small bar stocked with alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages (we even had a barkeeper, one of the aforementioned lads), a small stage for the musically inclined amongst us to play and sing, a dance floor to stand around on and a series of small garden tables with garden chairs around them to sit down at.
All was well prepared... I just hoped, that everyone would find their way, with locals helping out, if they were asked politely. To the uninitiated, the streets of Shella could be a maze, and even locals had their troubles, sometimes, I heard...
...I sighed and relaxed a bit.
All would be well.
A yipp from my feet drew my attention to the Little Black Fox by my feel, making me grin as a picked Soiprigh up. The others knew them as the weird, scraggly stuffed toy that I had perched on my bed in Purgatio, but they would have the chance to meet some of them in their more or less natural habitats as I worked for a breeder for one of these wonderful animals. I picked the little vulpine up and watched with a giggle as he buried his muzzle between my 'argumentation amplifiers', enjoying the Holder's warm fur.
Of course, I wore Geansai, but not in Louth's Colours: I defied the customs of my home, the City of Cuan, and went ahead, joining the Cult of Abhcan, the Goddess of Craftsmanship, Music, Pranks, Tricks and Foxes, now wearing their Green and White, as appropriate for a Servant.
Coming to think of it, I might introduce myself as well: I'm Celina Treoraí of the Tribe of Louth, sixteen years old, long, black hair, blue eyes, tanned from spending the summer vacation in the Archipelago and with my hair mostly bound back by a long, blue ribbon.
And I was nervous.
I would meet friends again, soon, friends, which I made in a place of horrors, but friends, comrades and, in one case, much more.
I kissed Soiprigh on the top of his head, making him look up with his big, innocent, blue eyes. "Let's get this show on the road!", I told him with a grin.
He yipped in approval.
I play PT, MT and a bit FT. I am into character-RPs.
My people are called the Selkie, the nation is usually called the Free Lands in MT-settings. Thanks.

Shella,The Free Lands of The Selkie
For an travel that was from Asteria to Caloris,Kuronami and from there to here Shella, many would surely think that was something crazy or better use other methods like travel to Silverport and from there go in ship to here. But for this black haired girl of 17 years that travel from the seas was worth of it,the girl in question was an student, someone that was in many places around the world as exchange student of Mervay to places like Purgatio and the Main Nation Ministry.

Her name was Lisolette Devienne and she came to Shella to enjoy of the festival, know The Free Lands and of course see old friends from the PIA. Devienne considered this travel as her way out of school for some time and as change of air to her traveling to exchange programs in nations taken out of Nazi Germany and 1984.

The travel in the RMS Eylsadt was very moved of the storms that suffered on the way to Shella, but she enjoyed it and enjoyed her first class travel and know new people there. When the ship was now in the small town, she saw that it was something beautiful and that her travel here will be the best one in her life. Once she leaved the ship, she was forced to do the customs of her visa, what she brought with her to the travel, etc. It was just 3 bags of package for the travel, her violin, her viola, her everyday books and of course her grandmother zaphire collar.

It took time, but she passed the customs and begun her way to the The Píoráid Inn,which she heard was the most exclusive Inn in the city,of course once she prepares everything for her stay there,Lis will take her Violin and she will go to know the city, begining with the cliffs of the city, the piracy museum, the main town square, the upper town, etc. Everything was being made for know new the city, new people and friends, see old ones and enjoy this two weeks stay.

"Tess would surely enjoy being here with her girlfriend the next festival" she said to herself as she saw the streets of the city, which kinda reminds her to Vitoze in the old architecture but nothing more.

Some minutes later she found herself in the Inn,which was like many said it was old but with good wiew to the town and the harbour. Lis decided to go and request an room for her to stay.

"Excuse me and good day,I would like to request the best room available please, how much would cost???"

Sora Matoba, Kirie Matoba

The Selkie, there couldn't be a better choice for a young recently married couple. Though this was technically a birthday gift for his lovely bride he had to work a little harder to justify it to her than he thought. She grew up in pretty small village before moving to Port Aya and she wasn't used to elaborate long trips abroad especially a journey of weeks in ideal conditions. "Beats waiting around watching the water rise" and indeed this was better as the deluge was upon the islands. Probably a good thing they left in the middle of the festival. They arrived late last night getting settled in The Meirdreach Inn. It seemed to have a ill reputation but honestly after traveling steerage on the rough seas it was paradise. Regardless the couple were in high spirits, The Selkie was a good friend to the UIS, Islanders seemed to have a special report with locals here, that or simply they were just as friendly and hospitable as islanders well either way.

Today was a new day since their arrival, they were both eager to get out and see the town for all it had to offer. Both just walking the streets to sort of take in the enviroment no real destination in mind they'd just see where the wind would take them. "Aww it's so pretty here!" Kirie nearly shouted while on the arm of her husband, giddy as the school girls she taught.

"I know, I know but take it easy, even if this is a nice town we're still tourists, we have to use some common sense, love." Sora loved his wife and her energy and just openness but her "small townness" came out sometimes strong and while he could very well defend him and her last thing he wanted was to be in that situation.

"Hey, Sora." Kirie asked "You know this place is very close to us at home. M-maybe I should find some news just to see --"

"Kirie." He took both her hands kissing them. "Come on, this is our vacation. This is your treat especially. Don't worry about home right now, if you think of it you're gonna freak out and want to go back."

"I would not."

"Sweet might I remind you of when we were stationed on Corona? Every mention of a flood or hurricane you were eager to jump back to Hoshino right away. I love you to pieces but you do worry a lot."

"I can't help it, I was raised in a very tight community. I worry about papa and mama"

"They're fine. They saw us depart and waved and they'll be there when we get home."

"Okay but don't make this my present or anything like you keep saying, it's too lavish just for me."

"Wh-what would you like me to call it?" He laughed a bit nervous.

"Our honeymoon. That's what other couples in other places do. They take honeymoons."

"All right it's our Honeymoon. Happy Birthday." He teased

She gave him a little wack with her kinchaku and he chuckled.

Píoráid Inn, Shella.
Like many inns in the town, the Píoráid Inn was busy today.
Built on the shore, the four-storey building was to one-third out above the water, stilts holding it in place, built out of massive limestone. The Restaurant Area was above the water and customers could watch the small fishing boat of the inn catch fish from the weirs placed out, which guaranteed the freshness of the produce used by them.
A small wharf guaranteed prompt delivery.
That all was partially visible from the lobby, an open and spacious room bordering the restaurant, an open doorway leading in and out of the latter and large double doors into the building itself. They were preparing a grill, though not an open fire, on the balcony.
The employee at the counter looked up as Lisolette approached, a young woman maybe a few years older then her.
"Good morning to you, too. One moment, please.", the young woman said with a smile and looked through her book of reservations and then looked up. "We have a room with a good view over the harbour free, cancelled half and hour ago, if you want. It would be six Gil or 90 NSD per night, breakfast, lunch and dinner included. And WLAN." She smiled. "Are you taking that one? I'd need your name then, here."
She turned her book of reservations around and indicated to a line.

It was fair to say, that by many accounts, the Islanders loved the Selkie and the Selkie returned that with gusto.
More then one nod, smile or greeting was sent to the two honeymooners as people passed them, recognizing the kinchaku as something UIS - mainly due to the yellow press photographs of Princess Aurelia, a Half-Selkie, in Yukata with one of the small purses around her wrist.
There was little time for something else, with Shella this busy.
But one could always use a small break, especially if one was on an errant, like Amy Ollmhór of the Tribe of Dundalk. She had very long, almost white hair bound into a braid, golden-brown eyes, which shone warmly and... as she was a pilot, some of her fellow aviators tended to joke, that she carried additional fuel tanks with her all day with how large her chest was.
Dressed in a white blouse with a pair of jeans, she stuck out like a sore thumb, but crawling on the ground in Geansai and riskying getting it dirty was not something she wanted to do - the crawling was necessary, though.
She smiled, as she came up behind the couple, seeing, that they seemed to be a bit lost in her eyes.
Maybe that was the eye of a Shella-Native for tourists.
"Good morning.", she greeted politely, just as a smithery came up next to them, the shop's boy arranging a wide array of blades, from short daggers to short swords, and in many different styles, on a rack for display. There was even one of the curved Kyrenaian Type 5 Sabres. "Are you searching for something specific? Or just looking around?"
I play PT, MT and a bit FT. I am into character-RPs.

Kirie said "Hello, we're just kind of looking around. We just got in late last night and went to our Inn so today we wanted to really see all the sights and the sounds, anything you recommend?"

Sora took notice of the great selection of blades and swords "Wow this is a great selection of blades here."

Amy smiled a bit sheepish.
"Oh, sorry, no, you just looked kind of lost...", she said, scratching the back of her head, as the shop's boy turned and grinned at Kirie's husband, saying something in Selkie. Amy looked over. "He said, that you're free to look around."
She turned back to Kirie.
"Anything I'd recommend...", Amy asked herself, "Today is Harvest Festival, so the Main Town Square might be a good place to start, we even have a music stage there, the Piracy Museum, but that can wait until tomorrow, the stalls, of course..." She nodded to the smithery. "...oh, me and a few friends will fly a small air show in the afternoon!" She grinned. "Other then that, the upper town might be worth a visit."

The boy finished arranging the blades and stepped back, allowing Sora full view.
To one side, there were multi-tool knifes, with integrated bottle-opener, saw, normal blade and everything from one piece, kitchen knifes, which might as well be used to murder someone, and of course the daggers and short swords. From simple models to slim armour piercers, from straight blades to curved blades, some even with bell guards, everything was there. And all were polished to shine, something the boy seemed to be especially proud of.

She went through a stack of papers and then nodded.
"Finnegan here will take your lagguage up.", the young woman said, and a young man, more like a boy, arrived at her side, grinning, bowing slightly. Judging by his upper arms, the lagguage would be no problem. "As for your question about how to get around, either by foot, there are a few horse-drawn carts around, or you take a goat or sheep cart, using the main export of this island as your transport. The Varden Family - The Meirdreach Inn

The fine people of The Freelands were getting ready to harvest and give thanks for their gifts from the Heavens. The Vardens were the same, tillers of the earth working day in and day out to get buy. This family did work very hard for a living, to the bone even. Getting to travel was a luxury not many had but good neighbors willing to care for their land and animals while they were away helped them come all the way here. In the dawn hours of the first day they arrived on the HMS Eylstadt named not just for the current Empress but also the entire family line that founded the Domain of Eylstadt where the capital city Caloris sat (which they didn't get to see much to the little one's disappointment). It wasn't a very pleasant voyage for those in third class and they hoped others fared better. But through the trials and tests they were here. Getting through customs was easy when you don't have much they did have to surrender their firearms they had from their military service but no big deal they should have known better than to bring them along but it could be habit at times. While her parents got things sorted from getting through customs and getting set at their inn, the child of the family, Billie as she insisted she be called looked around. Staying close as told by her parents.

Outside it was pleasant enough she could shed her yellow raincoat she'd been wearing since the weather calmed enough on the voyage over they could go above deck for a while. Even then it was a bit warmer than what they might expect, though Thunder Creek was pretty temperate most of the year with a few cold months.

"Momma" Billie returned inside as her parents got things settled. She hung up her coat on the rack "Momma this place looks so pretty!"

"It sure does. We're gonna have a nice time here, baby." Charlie meanwhile shed her winter sweater and lounge sweats for a black tank top and her denim pants she could wear. Jamie returned having taken care of the rest of the check in for them at their inn. "Papa." Billie said. He wasn't as dressed concerned he had a pair of rugged denim overalls he wore almost daily. If this family didn't scream they were country folks, nothing would.

"Hey, here I thought your were gonna wait for me." He scooped up his little girl into his arms. "You were taking too long and I was getting hot" She replied to why she went back into the room rather than wait for her pop outside. "And I didn't want to hold my coat no longer and drop it. 'Cause then it won't be as yellow no more,"

"Well that's smart of you, little missy! Want to make sure it's as yellow as the day you bought it." Yellow was her favorite color.

"Well we're settled in, let's go out." Charlie suggested "I think we've been confined long enough."

"Yes! Let's go papa!"

"Well if that's what ma says it's what we'll do. All right down you go." He set her back down, she took her parents hands. "So we're gonna talk to lots a farmers here?"

"We'll do our best to" Charlie replied

"Joey told me there's a museum about pirates. We should go there too!"

"We will we will but first let's get familiar with the town a bit. Hold my hand so you don't get lost, all right?"

"Yes momma." On their way out Billie caught a glance of a couple of other folks staying here they were dressed a bit odd but she wondered if maybe they were also from Kuronami from the far eastern domains in their country. Maybe they'd bump into each other again and she could ask until then it was time for the family to head out into town. "So we just gonna wander or you have something in mind?" Charlie asked Jamie "I heard the Town Square is a good place to start from the desk clerk. Reckon' we can head their first see what's goin' on."

"Jamie, only you can make it sound like we're here on business." She laughed

"You did ask me, babe." he laughed with his hand with hers and her hand with Billie it was a good day for them excited to be here.

The Selkie wrote:Amy smiled a bit sheepish.

"Wow what timing," Kirie lit up at the sounds of a festival "AHSCA just had a festival too and here we are for another country's own festival! Don't you think so Sora? Sora!" She had to snapp him back to attention as he was lost in the quality craft of the blades laid out before him. "Oh sorry"

"Huuugh" Kirie sighed exasperated "Honestly what am I gonna do with you?" She turned back to Amy "Good thing he paid attention at our wedding or I would have had to do my Maiden's Walk a dozen times" She joked to Amy very casually not even considering Amy might not be familiar with the marriage traditions in the island. "The Town Square sounds very nice. Might I ask what's in Uptown? Oh and you fly... " she searched for the word "Airplanes? Sounds mighty impressive, don't you agree Sora?" She didn't nudge him this time he was still lost. He did admire quality knifes and blades more than he did firearms. "Born in the wrong era that one." She sighed but she loved him anyway.

The Selkie wrote:"That's possible.", the young woman said and put the money away, smiling, before she put a stamp into the book. "And arranged. Thank you very much." She furrowed her brow at the signature. "Lisolette Devienne... looks good."
You could actually ride them, too, but I think, that you are a bit too tall for that..."

When she saw the boy and bowed to her in respect,Lis bowed back at him greeting him. The answer of the recepcionist was enough for her to laugh about the part of Lisolette riding an goat, just imagine it makes her laugh.

"Everyone tels me about it,hehe. Thanks,I guess that with your info better go with old fashioned walks,I was just asking about it since an friend of mine will do an party in the upper town in an home know as the Filleadh House so,I was wondering about how to go there, thanks and have an good day young lady" she said bowing to her and then she place her vision to Finnegan.

"Finnegan we better go now to my room so you could leave my package and you can return to work, after all time is valuable"

Kuronami wrote:The Varden Family - The Meirdreach Inn

On the way to the Town Square, someone coming from the Meirdreach Inn would actually have a rather easy time, the way was simple and there were a few landmarks one could use to get a bearing, like the small corner store of a fishmonger, who sold fish both raw and already prepared.
The smell would not be the indicator of the freshness, as the skilled buyer knew, but the clarity of the eyes.
Regardless of that, the small family of farming pilgrims would soon arrive on the Town Square, where the preparations were getting finished. The stage stood, as did the electrics. The Town Hall served as the backdrop of the stage, built of red brick instead of limestone and wood, loudspeakers ready to amplify the music.
A temple for Lodan Lir and Ladra was on the Main Square as well, easily recognizeable by its round architecture and the people in Geansai in the appropriate colours of their Cults sweeping under the arches.
The small building of the Town Guard and a wide strip of common land, a field of grass, completed the structures around the Main Square.
Someone spoke something in Selkie into a microphone, the voice sounding on the entire square, soon replaced by sweet fiddle music, used to adjust the settings of the electronics.
Some people didn't mind, they got onto the dance floor and began to dance together.

"Aren't we all?", Amy asked with a smile, then turned back to Kirie. "He seems like a nice chap, though. Anyway, the Upper Town is over there." She pointed to the top of the cliff, where a few houses were visible. "The Upper Town is the town above the Lower Town, quite literally. When space became sparse down here, people went up there. It's beautiful!"
She smiled.
"Shall I lead you to the Town Square?", she asked, just as the music began to play in the distance, "I see they are already putting on the final checks..."

Taking her bags, Finnegan nodded and spoke, in a heavily accepted, melodic and almost song-like accent: "Please follow me, Miss."
And with that, he led her upwards, to her room - a quite spacious room, with a large and comfortable bed, a dresser with a mirrow on the inside of the door and a pair of bathrobes on hooks, a small bookshelf with a few books in English (one of them being An Introduction to Selkie-Brews, dealing with the many different alcohols brewed and drunk by the Selkie) and Selkie, as well as a small desk with a chair by it. A telephone stood on the nightstand and a brochure about the house's WLAN-Network was on the desk.
A door led into a small bathroom with a toilet, a sink and a shower, as well as a bathroom mirrow.
Finnegan handed her the keys, commenting: "Your keys, Miss. The front door is closed at midnight, after that, you'll have to ring the bell. Anything else I could help you with?"

Kirie sighed a bit dreamy eyed "He really is." She agreed how nice Sora was and how much she loved him. Amy offering to lead them to the town square made her happy, "Well if you're so kind to offer, thank you so much we'd love to" She bowed for her and Sora seeing his wife doing so did as well "Oh yeah, thank you so much" he added the couple joined hands now finally she was able to drag him away from the blades and swords. Once they began to walk Kirie looked on a little sad to her beloved husband, he'd given up a lot just for her, time in the service and joining her father in their little fishery, Sora taking care of the cleaning and gutting, when he could have maybe become a metal smith himself, and spending a fortune to give them a little time away together, she was ready to cry how much he did for her but she'd have to hold it back for now.

"Hey sweet, you okay?"

"Huh? Oh just fine!" She smiled again.

"Aw I get it, still a little overwhelmed with the beauty of this place huh?"

"Yeah. I really am."

The family really took in how lovely everything looked around here. It was cozy and homey like their own little town so they felt right at home compared if they were in a very big place. Billie was eager to run after anything that caught her eyes but her mom and had a firm grip on her. Taking time to really look around and see what was around and really admire everything. "Wow eveything is so festive." Charlie said

"Well it is a festival" Jamie replied plainly

"You know what I mean." The sound of music rang out "We're gonna have to share a dance together later." Charlie said

"Momma, papa, you both should, someone's fiddlin' round here."

"Well she has a point" Jamie embraced Charlie ready to get started

"All right but don't you wander off, Billie"

"Yessum I won't wander Momma, I'll stay put, I promise or you can give me 40 whacks!" she made a swinging motion with her arms.

"Oh heavens girl don't make it sound like we beat you."

"Heeee" Billie smirked but she did promise and she'd keep her promise to stay put while her parents enjoyed a little dance together. Meanwhile she began to imagine her best friend was here so she could dance with her. She hummed to the music and did an imaginary dance with an imaginary partner.

Devienne begun to unpack everything for the stay and when she was about to say thanks to Finnegan he tolds her about the door being closed at midnight and she will need to ring the bell for enter.

"I see well thanks for the info,I will give your tip now" says Lis as she hands to him 80 NSD.

"About something else that,I need, well could you take me to the restaurant are please??" she asks grabbing her violin.

The Free Lands, Shella
Irene von Wittelsebach, Karl von Danzig and Marie Ernst Glück wandered the town.
Irene was, put simply, royalty-Crown Princess of Bavaria, Countess of the Paltinate, etc etc etc. Her other, preferred title, though, was Kadett-Unteroffizier, 12th Artillery. Either way, she wad the most choleric of the bunch. A not-very-cerimonial artillery sword hung at her side.

Karl was a 17-year old Seebattailon Gefreiter. Although younger than Irene, he had already seen action against communist insurgents in New Guinea. A broken leg had lead to him being here, and he hobbled along on a crutch. Despite this he still maintained an active sense of humor, and was the one who reined in Irene. Currently a cutlass hung from his belt.

Marie was the one member of the group that wasn't of a military or noble background-and, as a result, was the meekest of the three. She was raised by a covent and had only recently been told about the facts of life. A trench knife-carried at the insistence of Karl and Irene-was carried in her backpack.

How they were friends was beyond your typical observer, and the three persons in question themselves didn't know.
Currently they were in town to visit old friends from the PIA.
In any case, all three were equally lost.
Irene stared at her map. "I think we ought to have taken the right turn back there.
Karl frowned. "If it weren't for the fact that it's broad daylight I'd work out our position."
Marie coughed. "Irene...couldn't we just ask someone how to get to Filleadh House?"
Irene sighed. "No, because they might send us the wrong way for shits and giggles. Karl, what do you-Karl?"
Irene looked up to see Karl hobbling up to a local. A few words and a nod later, Karl came back.
"We're literally one block away from it. Good job."
Irene facepalmed whike Marie giggled. "Gee, Irene, you're a great navigator."
"Whatever, let's move."
The three headed off to Filleadh House. Irene went up and rang the doorbell. "Hello? Celina? It's your favorite hothead!"

Shella, the Free Lands of the Selkie

It had been a long, tiring journey, but in the end it was worth it. Aida had boarded the plane out of Adab City at five in the morning. Two hours later she was in Adab City, ready to change planes. This time it would be a seaplane, because - according to the information she had received - Shella could only accommodate that kind of plane. Unfortunately, the plane in question had been delayed and she was forced to linger around in the airport for longer than she would have liked to. The plane finally arrived, only for the pilot to reveal - much to the consternation of the would-be passengers - that it was suffering from technical problems. She found herself having to stay overnight in the airport hotel. The next morning, with the plane declared unsafe to fly, she and the other passengers were transferred to another, older seaplane. Well, at least she would still get to her destination after all.

The struggle did not end there. A few hours into the flight, out in the open sea, the sky grew dark and a storm was soon upon them. The plane trembled, lurching from one cloud to another amid heavy rain. The crew dared not say it openly, but everyone knew at that moment that anything could happen to them. Seated next to Aida was a young girl, just a year older than her, who was also heading to the Free Lands for the Harvest Festival; she said her boyfriend had already been there for a few days and was waiting for her. Barely an hour ago they were making small talk and she was all smiles. Now her eyes were closed shut and she was repeating the Lord's Prayer as if she had just seen the end of the world.

But they made it out of the storm safely, thank God, and the journey continued. The next thing she knew, the plane had landed in Shella, that town whose name she had been hearing a lot lately. It was a university friend who first informed her of this place and the festivities associated with it - she, in turn, had heard about it from her friend - and asked her to accompany her to the upcoming Harvest Festival. Alas, for reasons which would not be stated here, this friend of hers was forced to cancel her plans, but Aida was determined to press on. To say that university life was tiring was understating it; she really needed the break. So now she was here, alone and hoping to enjoy the festival, and maybe meet some new friends along the way.

She spent a whole hour wandering around the town, taking in the scenery, backpack strapped on her, but soon her legs began to gave out and she decided to find an inn to rest in. Her friend had recommended several inns to her - no doubt she got it from her friend - but a few of them appeared particularly expensive by her standards. She hadn't brought much money with her, and she had already spent quite the sizable portion on the airport hotel.

It didn't take long for her to choose. The Meirdreach Inn was not exactly known for its pristine reputation, but at least it was still affordable. "Good day," she said, making her way into the inn and announcing her presence to whoever was the receptionist. "Is there any room available here? Name's Aida Kaykali, by the way."

Uachtair Inn, Shella Upper Town
No one had counted the days on the ferry, but it hadn't been such a lot that they would have missed the festival. The ferry vessel Dronning Hjördis Charlotte wasn't exactly giant, at least compared to those serving transcontinental lines. The originally predicted storm had turned in the last minute, so Aegir's waves had carried the ship safely all the way from Lysköping-Belleruperhavn to Shella Harbour, where it had been left by the two siblings from Lillorainen who wanted to attend the festivities.
Frederik Leverdal was eighteen years old, blonde, blue-eyed and rather skinny. He was still a school student, yet on the brink of his last year, after which he was going to study ... he wasn't sure yet, but something that should get him a job at the Foreign Office once upon a given Tuesday afternoon in the future. He had heard about the Harvest Festival from a Selkie friend.
He was accompanied by his sister. Hilda Leverdal was seventeen years old, blonde and blue-eyed, too, a few centimeters smaller than Fred, had her curves where they belonged - and into horseriding, to a degree that she had annoyed her brother until he had allowed her to come with him into the Free Lands, a designated horse paradise.
They had disembarked from the ferry and gone on, looking around on their way to Upper Town Shella. Of course, Hilda wouldn't exactly have minded going to the tournament field first, but before that, they needed to make sure they would have a place to stay in night. After a longer march, which they used to have a look onto the nice old city, they finally arrived at the Uachtair Inn, which had been described as one of the few inns in Upper Town, a generally good house with good prices.
They entered the inn.

Filleadh House, Shella Upper Town
It had been an eternity ago, since Christopher Riescheid had seen his homecountry again. But it did not really matter a lot, as far as he was concerned, since being with her was most important, no matter where.
All that terrifying time in Purgatio ... all that lovely time in Dumhach ... and now Shella.
In a retrospective, Chris thought that the time in Dumhach had been the best time of his life. He had found his one true love and had made a number of new friends, mostly from all over the Free Lands, but also from Kyrenaia, and even from his own country. And quite not only human friends, but also vulpine ones.
But when they had decided to attend the Shella Harvest Festival, Chris had quite looked forward to it, and even more, when the sheer coincidence was about bringing some, even most lads and lassies from the Purgatio Student Exchange back together - and not in that spooky country itself, but in the Free Lands, where there were no concentration camps and human lab rats. All one had to fear in here was stepping into horse poop and running out of whiskey, and both could easily be prevented.
Chris had done the latter, filling the bar a bit.
"Now we shouldn't be able to run out of drinks anymore!" - he said and kissed Cel onto the cheek.
In this moment, the doorbell rang. Cel's 'favorite hothead' announced herself. Chris recognized Irene's voice.

Since Lillorainen's geography is currently being overhauled a 'tiny' bit, most information on it posted before December 12, 2018, is not entirely reliable anymore. Until there's a new, proper factfile, everything you might need to know can be found here. Thank you. #RetconOfDoom (Very late update, 2020/08/30 - it's still going on ...)

Katharine struggled through the crowds as she and her friend Alexandra tried to move toward the side of the ferry to take a good look at Shella. They were a part of an educational tour programmed called Education Primary. After about a year of fund raising from her college travel group, they were able to finally travel to the Free Lands. They were about three days into their tour, and after seeing some of the culturally significant cities the Free Lands had to offer on the mainland, the group was now in transit on their way to Shella, to witness the Harvest Festival that the locals annually celebrated. Finally, despite the constant bobbing of the ferry, they were able to make it to the railing, and it was there they were able to take in a beautiful sight.

On the foot of the cliff laid out a small town, seeming crowded, as if it were the waterfront of San Francisco on a smaller scale. Further up into the cliff, Katharine was able to barely make out parts of the upper towns up on the cliffs. Being the hipster she was, as they approached the town, she took hold of her Polaroid Spectra, and snapped a few pictures of the various boats sailing to and from Shella, and of the town itself. She then took in the cooling sea breeze, and took a deep breath as the scent itself felt calming in the turbulent seas. Further down the railing, some of her classmates were recording with their phones and their camcorders.

"Wonderful isn't it?"

Katharine turned around to find her world history professor, Dr. Simon Petrikov, walking up to her and fixing his glasses as he joined her at the railing to take in the town.

"Founded around the early 16th century, the town grew from the base in the past two hundred years until they had to build the rest of their town up the cliff as they ran out of space in the early 18th century, in 1718. It was a trade hub, and was also the home base of a few notable pirates in the area up until the early 19th century. All I can say is that they've had a large nautical-themed history. One rivalling to San Francisco." The professor smiled and turned to Katharine. "The ferry's going to be landing in about 15 minutes. Make sure you have everything and be sure to group up with your chaperone by 9:15, we're going to need the extra time, it'll be a long day until we get to the inn."

"Alright professor."

"Don't worry though, it should be relaxing, a good break from all the travelling we've been doing. Shella's got a lot of things to do while we're on there, just don't do anything crazy, alright?"

Katharine nodded, "Yes professor."

He nodded and said, "Who knows, maybe you'll find someone here, I know I did, met my wife during a exchange program, haven't separated for the past 10 years."

Katherine chuckled, "Who knows professor."

"Well, I'll be off, I need to let the rest of the group know what's going to happen, I'll see you near the exit Katherine."

"We will." Alexandra replied back, the professor turned to walk off toward the rest of the group. Alex turned and nudged Katherine. "He might be right you know."

Katherine playfully punched Alex in the arm, "Don't remind me, who would fall for a nerdy hipster studying for a history major?"

"Well if the shoe fits." And with that Katherine playfully punched Alex some more, both of them giggling as the harbor came closer into view.

About half an hour later, and the group quickly disembarked from the ferry as they walked and then waited near the pier where their ferry had landed. The group, consisting of college students, chaperones, the professor, and their primary guide, were now waiting for their designated guide on the island to come and lead them through the town as the festival was happening. They wouldn't be hard to miss, wearing white, orange, and blue backpacks, assorted clothing, with some having British, French, or American accents, to say they were out of place was an understatement. And so they stood there as they waited for their guide to arrive to walk them through the town.

"Hello? Celina? It's your favorite hothread!"

Cel's 'favorite hothread' announced herself. Chris recognized Irene's voice.

Filleadh House.
"I'll get it!", Yven called over his shoulder... and did not enter the house to go to the front door the easy way, but to round the house.
He was of seventeen Springs, a good looking lad with broad shoulders and deep brown hair, as well as brown eyes. Despite the weather being not entirely suited for it, he wore cargo pants and a t-shirt, his well-muscled arms on display. He grinned as he rounded the house to see three people standing there.
Two were armed with swords, but that did not bother him. He was more interested into the youngest of the three, who looked as meek as one could imagine.
She was cute.
"Good mornin'!", he called in English, with the accent typical for the Selkie, the melodic way of speaking, dropped vowels and rolling Rs, which they knew from Cel - plus, a bit of a country twang, because why not? "You three must be Irene, Karl and Marie, 'ight? Welcome to Filleadh House. I'm Yven!"
He bowed his head lightly.

Filleadh House, Garden.
I enjoyed the kiss, grinning - Chris had a tendency to both empty the bar and fill it up again, very orderly, which I appreciated.
"Thanks.", I told him, turning to him. Soiprigh looked at Chris with his blue eyes sparkling with excitement. "And the lads and lassies are fed, too, the first guests are arriving... we're good to go!"
With that, I pecked him onto the lips, but pulled away before we could get... deeper.
If I were to be honest, my time with Chris in Dumhach, in the Archipelago, had been the best time of my life, liberating and free and wonderful... Purgatio had been what Christians might describe as hell, especially for someone, who loved life as much as I did.
I refused to let the memories surface.
"Though you know the rule - no alcohol before midday!", I said.

Uachtair Inn.
The receptionist raised his hand to ask them to please wait for a moment, being on the horn. He was a man, middle-aged, not exactly well-trained, but not a couch-potatoe either, held the telephone to his ear, hummed, then spoke a few words in Selkie and hung up.
He made a quick note of something on a notepad.
The lobby was not exactly large, but it felt almost homey, with a couch for waiting guests and a potted plant besides it. Three doors led off, one into the innards of the inn, backstage, if one wanted to call it that way, one into the restaurant with its own little beer garden (although Selkie preferred the term ale garden as they did not drink much beer) and one into the guest areas.
"Good Morning, Miss, Sir.", he greeted, "Sorry for the delay. What can I do for you?", he asked politely,

She pointed to the top of the cliff, where a few houses were visible. "The Upper Town is the town above the Lower Town, quite literally. When space became sparse down here, people went up there. It's beautiful!"
She smiled.
"Shall I lead you to the Town Square?", she asked, just as the music began to play in the distance, "I see they are already putting on the final checks..."

Amy saw, that something was up between the two of them, the look of people, who loved each other dearly - but one, she would bet, had to give up a lot for the love he felt.
It was not her place to pry, so she played along.
"Thank you!", she said and grinned, "This is my hometown, after all. And don't worry about me making a detour, I'm running an errant anyway." As they came closer, the fiddle became louder and louder, but not unbearably so. "I love it here, it's a wonderful place."

The Selkie wrote:On the way to the Town Square, someone coming from the Meirdreach Inn would actually have a rather easy time, the way was simple and there were a few landmarks one could use to get a bearing, like the small corner store of a fishmonger, who sold fish both raw and already prepared.

The two adults on the dance floor were in very good and courteous company, who received them with smiles and leaving them enough room to dance privately.
They were good.
Billie, on the other hand, and her imaginery dance with an imaginery partner, drew someone towards her. Another girl, or rather young woman, who had her long, brown locks in a ponytail, her blue eyes sparkling as she knelt down on one knee next to the girl and her dance partner. She was in her mid-twenties.
She wore a Geansai in Kildare's Colours, which did little to hide, that she had nothing to hide, being a rather busty young woman.
"You sure are full of energy!", she said, grinning, "Wanna see better?"

Finnegan took the money, five Gil and then a bit, with a smile and packed it away.
"Sure thing, Miss, please come along.", he said and motioned her to follow him. He waited for her to close her room once they were both outside and then led her down.
First, back into the lobby, then through the large portal into the restaurant, a large room with large windows, bright and sunny and warm, with people already having breakfast and tea, chatting, reading newspapers, watching the people.
The decor was mostly of medium-tone wood, well-crafted chairs and tables, which would withstand the test of time and customers. Waitresses fluttered around, as well as a few waiters.
One of the tables by the windows was still free, Finnegan placing Lise there with a small bow.
"A waitress will come in a moment.", he told her and then, he was gone. Through the window, one had an excellent view of the harbour and arriving vessels, for example the ferry coming from Wembury.

Her long, white-blonde hair was tied in a braid, which ended in a dark blue ribbon.
She smiled a bit nervously.
"Good morning, Miss.", she began politely and with the typical accent, "Would you like to have breakfast?"

Adab wrote:Shella, the Free Lands of the Selkie

The receptionist looked at the young, rather tired-looking woman and was sad, that he had to shake his head.
"Sorry, Miss Kaykali.", he said and had to frown, "We're completely booked out. No room available for anyone." He did not, however, want to leave her hanging and so he added: "If you want, I can call around a bit for you and see, if there is any room available anywhere, but please don't get your hopes up. With the festival today, you should have booked before!" He motioned for one of the couches in the lobby. "Have a seat, if you want."
The lobby was comfortable, mostly made so by the couch and its opposite number on the other side of the room, both along the side-walls. Above each of them, a painting hung.
One depicted a ship in calm sea, a fishing ship with sails and a wooden hull, dragging a trawling net behind it. It was not a particularly large vessel, but it sat there calmly, the crew working in overdrive. It was basically an oversized Seol, a larger sloop with one jib and one jib-headed mainsail, small boats, which one could still sea in use to this day with pleasure and fishing fleets.
The other showed a scene in the restaurant, the barkeeper cleaning glasses, a few waitresses about waiting a few tables and a sole young man standing on small stage, singing, by his expression singing about love and pain and all belonging to it.
It was not a bad place to wait.

Mediama wrote:Katharine struggled through the crowds as she and her friend Alexandra tried to move toward the side of the ferry to take a good look at Shella.

It didn't take long for the group to be approached by a woman, not much older then they were, beginning of her twenties, her blonde-brown locks around shoulder length and her deep blue eyes sparkling, a small nose sitting between them. She wore a deep green tunic, arms free and showing them to be quite well-trained, her legs covered by a skirt in the same colour. The ensemble was completed by a pair of heavy, almost knee-high horseman boots.
Her dress did little in hiding the fact, that she was not really well-endowed, quite on the contrary, but she didn't mind.
She wiped a strand behind her ear and smiled.
"Good morning.", she said and looked at the many young men and women, smiling, "You are the Education Primary Group, right?" She waited a moment. "Wonderful... now, then, you must be Doctor Petrikov, then." She turned to the older gentleman, still smiling and bowing her head. "It's a pleasure. Professor Celina Ollamh of the Tribe of Monaghan, University of Leuda."

"Yeah it's very nice here. Something like where we're from but really special."

"We're enjoying ourselves. It was a long trip to get here but worth it in the end."

"See that's the spirit, Kirie."

"You're right, Sora." She took his hand firmly with her own. From now on she had to not worry much about what was going on home and try to enjoy the lovely gift her husband got her.

"My wife is just turning 18 ya know" Sora added "I thought this would be a really great treat for her. Plus I just was rotated into reserve duty back home so now I have more time with her."

"That's my Sora for you, he really knows how to spoil me rotten!" She joked

Billie, on the other hand, and her imaginery dance with an imaginery partner, drew someone towards her. Another girl, or rather young woman, who had her long, brown locks in a ponytail, her blue eyes sparkling as she knelt down on one knee next to the girl and her dance partner. She was in her mid-twenties.
She wore a Geansai in Kildare's Colours, which did little to hide, that she had nothing to hide, being a rather busty young woman.
"You sure are full of energy!", she said, grinning, "Wanna see better?"

Billie opened her eyes and turned to see a lovely pretty lady next to her. She let out a gleeful laugh "Hehehe hi there! That's what my ma and pa tell me!" She replied in regards to being full of energy, some thought she should have been named Pepper but her proper namesake was a family name passed through generations so not much could be done about that. "Sure I'd like to see!" she grinned pushing her messy hair from her eyes.

Irene and Karl snapped off salutes, and Irene nodded. "Ja. What is your relation to Cel-and who else is here besides us?"
Marie's eyes widened upon seeing Yven. '...he's the handsomest man I'e seen...'
Irene continued on. "As you can tell, I'm Irene, he's Karl and she's-Marie? Hello?"
Marie snapped out of her trance and shook her head. "I-my Marie is name-I mean what?"

Filleadh House, Garden.
The foxes, whom Chris meanwhile believed to know better than his own family, were fed, the first guests were arriving. Yven went around the house (wouldn't going through it have been easier? Well, each to their own ...) to welcome Irene, Karl, and Marie.
Chris knew that Cel was still struggling with her memories, but she was surely not alone with this problem - especially those who had obviously been at some yet worse places, as he had figured from the links to according posts on Piffle his cousin Robert had sent him via messenger, with the note that everything was possible, even if one thought that it couldn't get worse.
Now, he grinned. "I thought the rule goes like, no alcohol before the kiddos are in bed!" This referred to the beach party rule in Dumhach, established by Cel's boss (not Mr. Folaíochta, but one of the 416 Finnegans around).
Of course, he know the rule for this - that 'Lillos having beer for breakfast' thing was rather a rumor. Mostly, at least.

Uachtair Inn.
Fred and Hilda patiently waited for the receptionist to finish his phone call. In the meantime, they looked around in the lobby, not exactly a hall, regarding size, but feeling homey.
"It even looks quite nice in here, what do you say?" - Hilda whispered in Danish.
Fred nodded. "Quite cannot complain, really."
The receptionist got finished with his call, turned to them, apologized for the delay and asked what he could do for them.
They went on to the reception.
"Good morning, sir" - Fred said, in English again, of course, "No problem. We would need a room for two, for the time of the festivities. Leverdal is the name - Frederik and Hilda." He repeated their last name, a difficult one for someone who did not speak Danish, slowly, so he would understand.
... for the time of the festival - or even way longer - Hilda added in minds, but just smiled and nodded.
