Hail to the Emperor

On Saturday September 15th, in a public ceremony attended by the populace of the Empire, our beloved Megaleiotha Eirhno was crowned as Emperor of Mare Nostrum. The first to hold this most auspicious title. Long may he rule! In what was mainly a small regional ceremony, officiated by Tribune Sarah with noted participation from the Legatus, Tribunal, and Senatorial Prefect, and the Sixth Revelator of the Most High Gods. With a blessing from the Triumvirate, the Most High Gods, and the populace, Megaleiotha Eirhno now begins his reign.

Alongside the ceremony of coronation and the adjoining speeches, the event was joined by a host of party games, military promotions, and general revelerie for the following two days before finally closing on the 17th.

Cultural Blossoming

The last two months have been an absolutely massive period in terms of regional culture. During this time, we have seen the establishment of Duodecism as the state cult in Mare Nostrum. It is a fantasy religion created by and for the regional community and continues to be expanded on each day. It tells the story of twelve different deities, all vying for the right to be Most High. However Duodecism isn’t the only religious movement being proliferated in the region. Private citizens have also taken to the establishment of their own religions, most notably the Cult of Jupiter, based on Roman traditions, and the Order of Mpwah, a more philosophical tradition,. Alongside these religious movements, the University of Mare Nostrum has been blossoming in its own right. Five different courses have been established under four different lecturers and many more are in the works.

In another district of the Empire, we see the groundworks of regional roleplay being laid. The Rise of Mare Nostrum is a collaborative roleplay serving as the foundation myth of the Empire, telling the story of how the Emperor, the Triumvirate, and the powers that be rose to their position and established the realm we now inhabit. Alongside it, we have the SPQR RP. Setting the scene in Republican Rome and moving forwards from there.

Busy Days in the Senate

The Senate of Mare Nostrum has been absolutely restless in the preceding months. Starting with only The First Law of the Empire, they have quickly moved to establish precedents, regulations, and laws to help ensure the proper governing of the Empire. During this rather short term, our Senators have produced Standing Orders for themselves, an electoral regulations act, a state religion act, and even more. All of these extremely necessary documents go towards maintaining the proper system of government that we in the Empire hold so dearly. Paramount to all these acts was the Citizenship Act of 2018, which established the regulations of the regions citizenry and paved the way for greater legal rights being granted to the populace.

Yet there is always more to do and with elections scheduled to occur on the 1st and 2nd of October, the incoming class of Senators will have rather large shoes to fill.
