The WA's attempt at getting rid of criminal punishment is completely and utterly absurd. A nation is able to punish criminality however it sees fit, without the interference from an intolerable, usurping authority.

The people of a nation choose to punish criminals according to their culture and way of life. The WA has become a corrupt, unrepresentative authority that will eventually be stopped with force if necessary.

I would advise everyone with common sense to vote AGAINST this preposterous proposal.

The people of The Federal Republic of The Union of American Territories are outraged by this! If this resolution is passed, it will show that this bloated, globalist band of privileged bureaucrats that don't understand what a sovereign nation is! We shall not be bullied by you or anyone else! End with this attack on our sovereignty, or you will make an enemy out of us!

"This is a step too far on how countries should dictate criminal punishment. Capital punishment will continue in Outer Lake, but it will still depend on the severity of those crimes. Heinous crimes such as murder, rape, etc., will be dealt with capital punishment. If one decides that it's perfectly fine to take a life, their life shall be taken as well."

"As before, the Ramelic delegation gives complete support. Capital punishment is an inhumane, murderous way of dealing with criminal acts. This is quite enough for us to support, not even considering its at best unproven deterrent ability. The worst criminals should not get the last laugh as the nation becomes the murderer. It is upsetting that so many states would maintain noncompliance with such an important Resolution, should this be passed, and we urge an affirmative vote for other states."

"I would argue that capital punishment lies in the same vein as those other forms of punishment, archaic remnants of the past that many cling to because they have a sense of entitlement." The archbishop says while checking her nails. "No nation or person should have power over life and death, particularly seeing as we do have dictatorship and corrupt governments among our ranks. These particularly should not be permitted to enforce capital punishment, but an all out ban is better."

"Your grace, you do remember that only member states of the World Assembly are beholden to it's strictures yes?" Asks one of the hand, a young male (perhaps in his late teens or early twenties) with fiery red hair asks the ambassador.

"Yes I am aware" She responds, almost dismissively, before looking up. "If the resolution is passed, those who don't like it should just leave the Assembly. Nothing is forcing you to stay. If you value your national sovereignty so much, why are you part of an organisation that openly limits that sovereignty?"
Ambassador Ariela Galadriel Maria Mirase
37 year old Arch-bishop of the Arasi Christian Church (also the youngest ever arch-bishop and fifth woman in the church hierarchy). An attractive but stern woman with a strict adherence to religious and moral ethical codes, also somewhat of an optimist. She was recently appointed to the position following the election of Adrian Midnight to the position of Patriarch.

The ambassador returns after his "vacation" to see a full bloodbath on the GA grounds. "God knows where this is gonna go, but it's gonna be fun to watch." He listens in on some of the arguments being made. "Now, I don't recall this proposal ever being about national sovereignty or whatnot, proposals you don't like will inevitably come to vote, that's the trade off of this place. Give a better argument for once."

As I previously said, I am against this proposal as nations should be allowed to have capital punishment, but I am utterly disgusted by the threats thrown out by some of the other ambassadors that it almost makes me want to vote FOR this proposal.

"Dear ambassador, if you do not intend to follow it's laws then I must ask why you continue to cleave to this assembly. There is apparently nothing you can contribute, seeing as you have just stated that you do not and will not comply. In fact, as far as I am concerned, you are not worth the time of any nation in World Assembly whether they be for or against this proposal. If you do not wish to follow the laws of the Assembly, attempt to repeal them or kindly leave. Also if you are hiding these laws from your people then you are in contravention of at least one law, with the recently passed legislation it becomes two. Please do clean up your act. "

I don't know why you're responding to my OOC posts in an IC manner. But you should read the FAQ, which says

The World Assembly is the world's governing body. It's your chance to mold the world to your vision, by voting for resolutions you like and scuttling the rest. However, it's a double-edged sword, because your nation will be affected by any resolutions that pass. (Unfortunately you can't obey the resolutions you like and ignore the rest.)
Saying that you're not compliant is godmodding. And I am unclear why your Ambassador would have such wrongheaded ideas about how your country works. Because it does follow WA laws and is fully compliant.

The World Assembly has plenary authority. It has the right to pass whatever it wants. The question is what a majority of voters will stomach.

You can try and enforce these laws. But many of you are cowards. We will never abide by such laws. Any nation whom is in opposition may ally and prepare. Because the weak Assembly only supports democracy and cowardice with its abuses of power.

Capital punishment is an issue that should be decided upon by individual member nations, as this resolution would affect a vast portion of the WA nations.
I understand you may have moral issues with this, but campaign nation to nation, don’t ban it in all of them. This would undermine the sovereignty of WA nations and would turn the WA, something that was supposed to promote world unity, into something that just divides it.
