Dubois Issues Warnings to Vanavoy, Assists Besgaria and K'tuuj

Premier Minister Dubois came out in an aggressive public address today, lambasting Vanavoy for their aggressive stance in African, and laying out the course that the Norman State will be taking in the African Crisis. Dubois was flanked by military officials as he gave the address, including Henri Lorillot, commander of the Norman K'tuuj Mission, and Bruno Cuche, acting general of the armed forces. The Premier Minister spoke with notable and precise aggression, and his speech culminated in a vow to, "...challenge, demonize, and, if need be, totally isolate the Vanavoians."

General Cuche stepped in at the end of the speech to answer specific questions about what out actions will be, telling reporters that
We will continue to support out Besgarian partners by participating in their closure of the Channel to hostile forces. Our military forces in K'tuuj, including our naval forces stationed on their coastline, will be on high alert. The King of K'tuuj has our support in defending his nation and its people.

This paper and our journalists have confirmed that King Zimbo of K'tuuj released a statement last night, which detailed that he would follow the lead of the Norman Government:
Our Norman allies have provided tremendous help in quelling the violence in Douala, and I will actively work with their advisers and military staff to ensure the survival of our great nation through this growing crisis.

Both Mr. Dubois and Mr. Cuche declined to elaborate on whether or not an increased Norman presence in K'tuuj would follow; however, the Premier Minister confirmed that the Norman State is pulling out of the trade agreement made with Vanavoy in January. Mr. Dubois has already gone through the legal process of the freezing the assets of Vanavoian officials who had money stored in Norman banks, such as staffers for Vanavoian Chairman Willem Linssen. Dubois commented that the Norman State shall
...uproot any instance of Vanavoian influence on our politics, or economy! The agreements of the spring will be struck out and we will look to negate Vanavoian influence, on us and our allies, at each and every turn until they seek out a peaceful resolution of this crisis.

The Dubois administration has clearly shifted gears on diplomacy with the communist bloc, especially in regards to Vanavoy. The injection of vanavoian goods into Norman markets came recently, and thus far with little consequence on the economy; however, for the Vanavoians, the loss of another market would be dangerous for the recently opened Vanavoian manufacturing. Dubois also said today that he will be refusing to speak directly to Vanavoian officials, saying they must first speak with officials of the Norman diplomatic service: a major insult in the world of European diplomacy.

      Reichsfuhrer Hans Adolf von Mutumbo

As the situation in Africa continues to get more strange, King Zimbo XI of B'rk and Reichsfuhrer Hans Adolf von Mutumbo of New Memel-Ndongoland have made a joint request for an immediate meeting with the leaders of the Norman State and Besgaria-- a sudden shift in foreign policy by both leaders. In a statement sent out individually by both nations, the leaders praised the two European nations, discussing the great achievements of each country and continually gave compliment to their leaders and citizens. After the overzealous series of praise and admiration ends, they go on to speak about how their countries would "be honored by the presence of such successful white men." No response has yet been heard from either Besgarian or Norman leadership. Along with this, there are unconfirmed reports Reichsfuhrer Mutumbo is planning to meet privately with the Clanzian HC.

Unlike most other fascist states in Africa, King Zimbo XI and Reichsfuhrer Mutumbo have historically not been hostile towards each other, even allowing trade between their two nations. But no formal alliances have ever been signed between the leaders, nor have they ever cooperated so closely in any regard.

Formation of the Western European Union

Representatives from Prisalia, Clanzia, Besgaria and the Norman State all met in Lyon to convert the current Western European Trade Community into a more useful, stable and better organisation.

The WETC treaty, which guaranteed free trade between WETC members as well as prioritising trade between WETC nations, will be carried over in full to the new Western European Union Treaty. The new treaty establishes the same points as the WETC treaty with a few extra additions:

1. A common defence clause: If a Western European Union member is attacked, all other Western European Union members must come to the aid of the attacked nation.
2. Official and formal WEU Headquarters in Lyon, Norman State: The meeting place of the WEU will be in Lyon, Norman State
3. Shared military technology information network: Major technological military breakthroughs will be shared among the member nations

These three clauses, among many others, make up the principle of the Western European Union: a Western Europe that is militarily and economically secure.

MESRI Gives Outs Military Production Contracts

Following the massive conservative electoral victory of the previous election, the governments research division, MESRI, came under a much more traditional leadership that has vowed to push for major modernization efforts in the military. Last year, MESRI gave a contract for the production of the new Atar 9K-50 engine, a project that had been in development during the previous Cambre administration. MESRI's efforts in high-speed engine development has culminated in their latest development: an update to the Air Force.

In the midst of the growing crisis in Africa, MESRI, in compliance with legal stipulations regarding governmental agreements, has released details about their newest contracts with GIAT and Dassault, two partially state owned arms manufacturers. MESRI has provided GIAT with models and instructions for the production of the "Mirage NG", the latest advancement in the Mirage line of aircraft. The documents refer the the Mirage NG as an update on the current Mirage III, and her sister, the Mirage 2000. Several of the details in the released documents have been censored from purposes of security; however, the documents do confirm that the latest Atar Engine will be included in the model, along with updated weapons systems, and overhauled avionics. The contract shows that a minimum of 20 units will be produces for further testing, and that 150 finalized models should be in production following the testing of the 20 prototypes.

MESRI has confirmed that it will be sharing these production models with Normandy's European allies.

thousands of armed men stormed the parliament building at 10AM this morning in Beijing while a smaller force attacked the Forbidden city, the sound of gunfire and explosions lasted for over an hour some of the fighting spilling out into the streets of Beijing as the Royal Manchu Guard repelled the attackers from the Forbidden City and the attackers were engaged by Beijing residents infuriated over someone attacking the Forbidden City and the Empresses person.
Parliament was not as luck the much larger force succeeded in penetrating its defenses and took control of the building Beijing SWAT was the first to arrive but lacked the firepower to retake the building.
An attempt to take the building was made by police and Local Beijing residents but was repelled by entrenched combatants.
at around noon the combatants threw the bodies of every member of Parliament off the top of the building, the Army who had recently arrived responded by leveling the building using tanks, and rockets.
In the aftermath it has been found that all of the attackers were Khanate natives little else is known at this time.
Casualties at this time are at over 700 confirmed dead and more than 30,000 injured

Empress Demands Answers from the Khanates

      Image

Shortly after creating an Emergency Parliament the Empress has Demanded Answers from the Karakiliclar Khanates after evidence was found linking the attacks on Beijing to them.
The empress in a live press conference stated that the amount of evidence pointing to the Khanates is overwhelming though there motive is unfathomable.
"That the attack was conducted by person belonging to the nation of the Khanates is not questionable what is questionable is what they hoped to gain by it. Even in the most fanciful dream world the Khanates could not possibly defeat Songjiang, I can only assume that they had hoped that they could crush our spirit by destroying our government, and killing me they are lucky they failed at one of these tasks I will show more restraint than the People of Songjiang would"
With the Empire poised to attack tensions are high, though few are fans of the empresses decision to not imedietly invade the underdeveloped nation of Karakiliclar Khanates.

Chairman Linssen Declares the Norman State's Actions to be "Hypocritical" and "Imperialist"

Chairman Linssen appeared on national television last night to brief the public on the diplomatic situation with the Norman State. In the address he accused Norman leaders of refusing the UFSCR it's right to intervene in international politics, stating that the previous period of isolation was a path that was chosen by the people, not enforced by foreign powers. He went on to describe that the Normans' actions were an insult to the entirety of the UFSCR, as it implied that the union was part of the Norman sphere of influence. Linssen then explained that the Normans had stabbed the UFSCR in the back by promising peace and economic cooperation only a few months prior, only to reverse the decision once forced to recognize the sovereignty of the UFSCR. In addition, Linssen criticized the Norman state as being imperialist:
The Norman's traitorous immorality is highlighted by their double standards and their insulting expectations of their neighbors. The UFSCR had pledged to comply with their program of European cooperation, and yet when we had fulfilled our end of the agreement they turned their backs on us and insisted on more. If there is one thing that I can promise as the figurehead of the union it is this: I will not let the UFSCR become an appeaser, a puppet, or a slave to any power no matter how great. The Normans believe that Africa and the African people are theirs to exploit. They fear us because they know that we challenge their sphere of domination and subjugation with our policy of international friendship. The Norman people are imperialists at their core, and unless we stand up to their tyranny we will become their vassal.

While not laying down any concrete promises for future action, Linssen did heavily imply that unless the Norman State reversed its actions the UFSCR would work to undermine the Normans as a power and as a respectable nation.

Japanese Federation cuts all ties with Normandy, Besgaria, announce embargo

After a meeting between Normandy, Besgaria, B'rk and New Memel-Ndongoland resulted in the two European powers sending military forces to support the African fascist states, President Chinen Yoshifumi of the Japanese Federation made an announcement that Japan would be cutting all ties with Normandy and Besgaria.

The disgusting shift of foreign policy by the Norman and Besgarian leadership shows a severe lack of commitment to the democratic ideals that the Japanese Federation uphold. As a result of this, we are left with no choice but to sever all ties, diplomatic and economic, which we had worked so hard to develop with the Norman and Besgarian governments.

The Japanese government plans to begin enforcing the embargo within the next week, and has given Besgarian and Norman diplomats two weeks to vacate the country. Japanese diplomats have reportedly also begun speaking with other nations to discuss economic agreements in order to sustain the Japanese economy without two of their larger export markets.

Foglia calls out Norman State and Besgaria for "supporting bloody dictatorships"

We respect Besgaria and Norman State and consider them to be friendly nations, but we can not remain silent when two of our most important partners stand on the side of a violent dictator. We understand that Africa is an unstable continent and we support any intervention to stabilize the area, but supporting the Reichsfuhrer Hans Adolf von Mutumbo, known for having repeatedly violated the rights of his citizens is not acceptable behavior on the ethical or moral level. The dictatorial regime of New Burgundy is not far behind, but it is not supporting dictators that we liberate the continent.

This morning in an unexpected press conference, Councillor Foglia commented on the intention of Besgaria and Norman State, members of the new WETC, of deploying troops in Africa in support of New Memel and its dictatorial regime. This comment comes shockingly similar to a comment made a few hours before by the Japanese government.

In a Long speach condemning the cowardly act of betrayal by the Khanates who for the last year had enjoyed friendly relations and Songjiang Military support the Empress declared that the Empire of Songjiang and its Loyal Ally Latvichka are now at war with the Karakiliclar Khanates until such time as they surrender unconditionally.
Songjiang Imperial forces advanced North with cover from heavy artillery, and air support, while the Navy already staged dropped Marines into the North Eastern coastline of the Khanates.
A large portion of the Military is focused on the east while a smaller portion focuses on the heartlands.
Latvichka on the other hand is focusing on invading the West while only skirmishing in the Khanate heartlands.
Outnumbered and outgunned the Khanates best option would be to surrender quickly and accept the punishment coming for them.

This early morning was marked by the screams of the communist elite of Guinea being ruthlessly gunned down by a band of soldiers belonging to the "Zimbo Party". Named after the famous African Emperor, this party intends to instate Commandant Cambre as the "true Norman monarch" of Guinea. The poorly funded Red Guard lies in disarray as most of its leadership was purged in the coup.

Now "Emperor" Cambre went on national television holding the decapitated head of Chairman Mmmbongo Smith and declared that the, "socialist experiment is over!". Nigerian officials were quick to react and barred trade and diplomacy with the nation until the "illegitimate" ruler was removed. Emperor Cambre's Party did not yield and instead claimed that it would, "achieve unthinkable levels of prosperity," under the new Zimbonomics platform.

The Zimbo Party has so far vowed to remove all price controls, auction off public companies, repeal child labor laws, legalize religion, and abolish the minimum wage. While it may seem that the government is scaling down, the armed forces and police will be receiving an 80% and 45% increase in funding respectively. Investors and politicians look on in anticipation as the situation develops.

Örtege News Service

Latvichka Announces Cooperative War With Songjiang against Northern Khanates

As noted by recent news, Latvichka has joined our western allies of Songjiang in the conquest against the northern Khanates. This is for many reasons, and is certainly not unprovoked. It has been known that the Khanates have expressed wishes to obtain our land in the past, though they say they would not attempt to take it, the recent attack in Songjiang gives us reason to believe this might have been a ruse, and after Songjiang that Latvichka would be next. Secondly, under the advisement of his shamans, the Khan has grown increasingly unnerved by the chimera-like religion practiced in the area, as he says "The crossbreed of Islam and Tengrism does not feel natural to me, as the styles of worship are so different for both it doesn't work." The most notable reason for this conflict however is no doubt the attack against Songjiang. While the Khanates and Latvichka share a common ancestry true, the Latvichkan Khan and Songjiang government have long been allies. A slight against the Empress is taken as a slight against the Khan and such a thing is not taken lightly. And so, there shall be war.

This military conflict will also see the combat debut of several pieces of Latvichkan military equipment, such as the recently produced T-1224, MiG-19's, and some more modern firearms. Naturally as per Latvichkan tradition the usage of horse cavalry armed with firearms, bows, and other melee weapons will also take place, even more prominently against our nomadic cousins.

As is tradition, Latvichkan forces are lead by the "Tengri's Chosen" unit, donning traditional lamellar armor and wielding lances with their banner upon it

Department of National Development
September 18th, 1981.

Teach for Panjal - 1 Year Progress Report

The Department of National Development is proud to say that its Teach for Panjal campaign has now been underway for an entire year, seeing significant success thus far, much in part due to the overwhelming amount of international support that has been given to the program.

Over 20,000 volunteers have committed to the program, with teachers and tradesmen coming from all over the world: from Sietsk, Normandy, Besgaria, Vanavoy, Mitzpe Judea, Gran Arizona, Kannsa-Minnesota, Standevia, Worris, Japan, Garie, Sacramento, and more. While contributions from every country are massively appreciated, a special thanks must be given out to the campaign's largest supporting countries-- Besgaria and Sietsk.

At the very beginning of the TP campaign, the Besgarian government was one of the first states to show support, pledging to not only recruit volunteers, but also to construct and support 4,000 primary schools and 2,000 tertiary schools in Panjal over the course of 5 years. In total, the Besgarian government has recruited and sent over 9,000 volunteers to partake in the program, with both teachers and tradesmen signing up to share and spread their knowledge. And, working in part with the Besgarian-led ADI, 230 primary schools and 300 tertiary schools have been constructed and staffed, and over 500 other schools have begun construction.

Sietskian volunteers, of which there have been over 5,000, mostly skilled workers, have played a major part in helping with the logistics of the entire TP campaign. Sietskian-Vanavoian central planning has been an incredible tool for maintaining efficiency and organization in both the campaign's teaching efforts and in the Besgarian-led construction projects.

The Teach for Panjal campaign, while already largely successful, has only just begun. The continued cooperative efforts from every country and every individual involved in the program is helping build a better future for the people of Panjal. We are excited to see what the next year has in store for this ambitious campaign.

Khanate Military Defeated Leaders Captured or Killed in Battle

      Image
The 3rd Armored Division assaulting Khanate capitol hours before victory

In the shortest war in Songjiangs over 600 years of military history, Latvichka and Songjiang have defeated the Karakiliclar Khanates Military despite them continuing to fight well past the point of no return wich to some's opinion was the moment Songjiang Invaded and more so when Latvichka joined in. Empress Ming Shan Mai flew to the capitol of the Khanates and was recorded saying the following:

My gracious subjects, we still do not understand why the Khanates attacked us, even in total defeat they refuse to talk many even daring to claim that we are the aggressors, what can be taken from this is that clearly not all the people of the Karakiliclar Khanates were in on this attack and should not be treated as if they were. We will find those responsible be they dead or still living so long as a scrap of evidence remains we will find it!
Other nations should see this as an example we are not weak, we are not going to roll over and take it if you kick us.. We will fight back and we will give back to you ten fold what you deliver on to us!
We did not start this war but we did end it and now that leaves us and our Allies Latvichka the daunting task to decide what now happens to the Karakiliclar Khanates.
To the soldiers who fought this war I thank you you and your loved ones have sacrificed more than any person should ever be required to sacrifice for the love of your nation and its honor, to the Khanate Soldiers you fought well despite impossible odds your bravery will be remembered by the Imperial military and Songjiang while the actions of your leaders will be condemned for all time.

Most of the Khanate leadership was killed in the fighting many of them fighting on the front lines in the end the Great Khan was reported saying "The surest way to be sure I never see my empires defeat is to ensure I die in the foxhole defending it". Investigations to uncover the reason for the attack on us by the Khanates are ongoing but so far have uncovered no reasons for the attack and searches have uncovered no plans detailing any sort of plan of how they would capitalize on it if it had succeeded.

Today the Councillor Trade Bergassi and the panjali Secretary of Trade met in the capital of Panjal to sign the final paper of an historic treaty.

The purpose of this is to enable companies based in Clanzia to carry out exploration missions in the territory of panjal, and then proceed with the extraction. All this will take place in compliance with the bureaucratic and environmental regulations of the country and buying the land at an honest market price from the respective owners, using local labor so as to encourage the development of these areas on both the occupational and infrastructural levels, with companies taking advantages of the programme committing to be proactive in the infrastructural development of the areas (collaboration with the local government will be key). On the part of the panjal government we have a commitment not to increase taxation and tariffs on activities involving companies involved in the program for the next 20 years (unless belligerent actions by one of the partners involved).

With this Clanzia will be one of the first foreign nation to have mining rights in the country, with the companies already planning exploratory missions in the country, with FinMinerali already announcing intentions to start one in the region of Orissa in the next few months.

Weber-Ford announces military budget increase and reform

Minister of Defence, Jonathan Weber-Ford, revealed in an open BCP party meeting that massive military reform will be taking place over the course of the next two years. This includes mass reformation of the army, navy and airforce, as well as large scale expansion. Specifics include the beginning of a new jet fighter research project, comissioning numerous new ships and aircraft and recruiting campaigns. Weber-Ford had this to say regarding this controversial but maybe necessary decision.
Under the SLP, the quality and size of the Besgarian Armed Forces has fallen dramatically. Besgaria used to be the military juggernaut of the world. Now, our navy is the only shining part of our armed forces. Even then, the Channel Crisis proved that Besgaria needs to expand its military if we want to stay competitive on the global stage. This also will legitimise us as a valued part of the Western European Union along side the Norman State. While many see military expansion as nationalistic or a useless investment, this will only make our nation even greater.

Most of the controversy surrounding this decision relates to the budget. Leader of the SLP after Oskar Sjokrigare's suicide, Amanda Ekberg, claimed that the budget is stretched enough already and an expensive new project will just be bad for the nation's economy. Weber-Ford has countered with the fact that thousands of jobs will be created. The MOD and the companies involved with the expansion are encouraging foreigners and Besgarians alike to apply for jobs.

Nigerian Oil Prospecting Hits All Time High - Sietskan Steel Production Double That of Japan- Gulf Federation Markets Booming, Oil Sands in Kannsa-Minnesota Being Explored

      Oil Prices Spike To $48/Barrel

Those of you who frequently commute to work may have noticed that the price at the pump keeps rising by the hour. Rest assured, you're not alone. Global oil prices have risen by 40% this past quarter as fears over potential wartime scarcity have prompted citizens to hoard the black gold for themselves. Drivers who would normally be fine with having a quarter tank of gas no longer take chances and rush over to the pump. Companies who rely on petroleum for synthetics or for power have been placing larger orders than needed on the off chance that the communist oil supply runs dry.

The effects have been devastating in most of Western Europe, East Asia, Oceania, and North America. Citizens are spending a significant percent of their income on fuel. Shipping prices are skyrocketing. Is it all doom and gloom around the world? Not at all. While Japan may be panicking over fuel costs, citizens in oil rich nations are enjoying a massive increase in living standards.

Below are the 1980 Rankings for the Quality of Life Index:
      1. Japanese Federation: .901
      2. Standevia: .876
      3. Garie Confederation: .865
      4. Worris: .862
      5. Clanzia: .858

Here are the projected 1984 Rankings for the Quality of Life Index:
      1. Japanese Federation: .909
      2. Sietsk: .887
      3. Gulf Federation: .881
      4. Zaporozhie: .874
      5. Fascalia: .872

While only the time will tell if these projections are accurate, it seems that the (largely communist) oil states are bound to benefit greatly from the current market.

Newly constucted ODCP oil pumps within Noorizadeh

A large industrial bloom has happened upon Odabin in recent years. With Paul Benis's promise to industrialize the nation and ODCP's oil rights, development has never been better.

"Unemployment rates are at an all-time low and we are all to thank." States Paul Benis "We hope to keep this trend continuing long into the future so we may thrive as a kind and accepting nation"

With new jobs available new housing seems to be required. A national census shows that 50 thousand new immigrants have arrived in the last year, and that number continues to grow as new companies open their doors. Low-income housing has started being prioritized, as well as student housing.

This boom of immigrants has sparked change in Odabin's immigration laws. A bill has been passed to make immigration less of a hassle. Now the only requirements to enter the nation is to speak basic English and to be able to work. For families, only one member must be able to work. It is predicted that immigration numbers will increase 3 fold in the next few years.

With oil prices at an all-time high, ODCP has ramped up oil extraction in Noorizadeh, making good use of its acquired rights. Odabeaners can deal with affordable oil prices whilst reaping the benefits of Odabin's hearty export.

Update on the NIS

In November 1980, the NIS (National Infrastructure Scheme) was commenced to improve and expand much of Besgaria's housing, transport, medical and recreational infrastructure. Almost two years later, the scheme has seen overwhelming success and support.

Status of the expanded transport systems
Expansive tram systems have been implemented in Frihetsstad, Birmingham and Manchester. The new tram systems have been successful to an unprecedented degree. Getting around cities is far easier and this is sure to lower unemployment. Now, citizens can have much greater access to education and employment.

The National Rail Line
High speed, Asian inspired railways have been extended from Glasgow to Frihetsstad and almost everything in between. Getting around the country is now an efficient and speedy endeavour. The railways are operated by Delta Rail Group.

Other aspects of the NIS are to be completed between now and 1984. By the end of it, Besgaria will be a greater and more prosperous nation.

The following is an address from Rikesprasident Georg Westermarck, released on Besgaria Day, 18th of January 1981

Greetings Besgarians,

I would like to thank you all personally for my election win in 1982. I truly hope I can serve you and our great nation with dignity and honour.

1981 was a good year for Besgaria. The continuation of the NIS made life easier and more prosperous for Besgarians and the large numbers of immigrants coming to the best nation on the planet for work, education or simply a change in lifestyle. As per Besgarian tradition, we welcome them to our country on Besgaria Day.

Last year also was the year in which we continued to strengthen our relations with our European contemporaries. The formation of the WEU helped this immensely and the future looks bright for a united Europe.

To conclude Besgarians, last year was a great year for our nation and this year can be even better. Besgarians are some of the most industrious, innovative and hard-working people on the planet and each and everyone of you is part of why our nation is the best in the world.

Stay strong Besgarians and have a great Besgaria day!

Kind Regards,
Rikesprasident Georg Westermarck

Songjiang Parliament Decides to Keep Occupied Regions of the Khanates

      Image

After several months of debates and tens of thousands of nation wide town hall meetings. Parliament has determined that it is the public's wish that the Khanates pay for there aggression by surrendering the regions currently occupied solely by the Songjiang Imperial Military.
These regions will be settled by Songjiangian people who wish to tackle the task of taming the underdeveloped Northern regions and who are willing to live and work beside those who were only just recently there enemies.
The occupied regions will be built up to the standards of a modern industrial nation, and will no longer be trapped several decades ago do to outdated traditions and technophobia.
Latvichka is expected to come to a similar decision for there solely occupied region whats left will be left to the khanates to hopefully build a less violent government from.
Our Decision is being forwarded to our allies and to the world at large so they can update maps accordingly.

IPR Forces Dug In the Hanoi Passage

Japanese troops stormed the beaches of the IPR this morning following a patriotic speech held by President Yoshifumi. The President outlined his plans for dealing with Fascism around the world and placed a special emphasis on shutting down the hostilities in Southeast Asia before committing to any African or American intervention.

How can we be taken seriously as arbiters of democracy when we turn a blind eye to extremist violence in our own backyard? 'Chief' Thuy Ngoc Weinburg is nothing more than a fascist wearing red coat. We will not stand by as he shields himself with Chinese and Sietskan support while implementing policies that are destructive to both the reds and our democracy. A full scale military intervention is on the table should 'Chief' Weinberg not step down and cease his massacres of ethnic minorities in Indochina.

Chairman Xeng Diaoping of the Chinese People's Confederation issued a statement that affirmed its ties with the IPR and denounced the Japanese Federation as a nation of, "self serving Imperialists."

Sietskian-Chinese Student Exchange
Sietsk has initiated a Student Exchange program. Chinese students will be able to study in Sietsk, and learn about our culture and language. As part of the Cooperation program, a large number of schools and universities in the CPC will be renovated and brought to modern standards. Only after that is done will the students of Sietsk be able to also study in China.
Mabregre
In order to reach Mabregre, Sietsk is renting a small port and a road in northern Punu-Fang, with the promise that these will be repaired and expanded after Mabregre is no longer at war. 40,000 troops have arrived so far, and 40,000 more are expected(more than initially planned). In order to better defend Mabregre, they agreed to leave our generals in charge of their troops, although the commanders of Mabregre are expected to explain the inner workings of the jungle to our soldiers. Sietsk warns the fascists of B'rk that their tribals gods won't be of much use in their prayers.

      Die Ganzunion Arbeiterszeitung

      29th of January, 1982

Dutch ‘Spelcom’ Gaming Computer Proves to be a Huge Success

The Dutch-made ‘Spelcom’ gaming computer was recently released in 4 of the UFSCR’s republics to test how the system would be received, without requiring the resources needed to distribute Union-wide. The success of the Spelcom since its release has well surpassed even the highest estimates for success, causing distribution venues to struggle to keep up with the massive demand as people from all across the Union flocked to the few republics which were officially permitted to distribute. In violation of anti-capitalist laws, some people sold the Spelcom second-hand for as much as ten times the original price. With the massive success of the Spelcom, the state-operated company, Neuerung Software, was given a huge increase in funding and instructed to improve the system for a national release and to produce a much wider selection of games for the system, expanding on the current selection of 5 games. If current plans are followed through with, the finalized version of the Spelcom will be released across the union with a selection of 10 games on release. There are also plans to sell the finalized model of the Spelcom in the Kingdom of Neuburg if good economic relations prove sustainable.

      Economic Reform Continues

Since the implementation of the 19th Five-Year Plan, created by the then opposition party, the All-Union Workers Party, (ironically the tradition of the opposition party creating the semi-decennial economic plan was abolished shortly after the GUAP won the 1980 election) the economic machine of the UFSCR has been through a colossal program of reform, with 103 executive orders regarding economic reform being issued and with 56 new state-operated companies being founded. Continuing on the path of reform, the capital apex, the highest legal salary a person can have, was raised from $800,000 to $1,000,000 and the ban on monetary inheritance was lifted, being replaced with a law regulating the maximum amount of monetary inheritance to $100,000. However, despite the path of economic reform, Linssen made clear that all major reforms to the acquisition and retainment of private capital by individuals were not meant to open the window to new reforms in the future, maintaining that too much reform could be a slippery slope that invites capitalist influences into the socialist culture of the UFSCR. Linssen also recognized that the reforms needed to be counterbalanced so that a bourgeois class wasn't created. To this ends, Linssen created further restrictions to land ownership, reducing the legal limit on private land ownership from 40 hectares to 20 hectares, and requiring a new inheritance tax to be paid proportionally to the area of land inherited.
