Bio: Jane Rolfen was a prodigy in the field of medical science. Though she achieved the legal certification to practice medicine only two years ago, before that she had been aiding her parents in the study of pathogens. Her certification was sponsored by the Wonder Corporation and her parents considerable means and connection to them. Rules were bent and an exception was made for her. This led to her developing an over-inflated ego. She considered herself a singular genius. She delved into experimentation with gamma radiation, wonder serum and a treatment which would supposedly make humankind completely immune to illness. However like a kite flying in the air during a thunderstorm, she was struck down by the heights of ambition she rose to.

She kept this research secret from her parents while being in contact with the Wonder Corp. She eventually ended up with a product which she could test on herself. When she did so, she awoke in a hospital bed having supposedly turned into a monster which needed to be tranquilized. To her horror, her parents found out about this secret testing and disowned her completely. Wonder Corp pulled some strings to help her beat the legal charges and keep her medical license, but after that they abandoned her completely. Jane was humbled by her mistake, and confidence went into a perpetual caution.

Jane reasoned she needed a high profile job to restore her reputation and regain lost resources. She was rejected from almost all hospitals or anywhere with anything medical. Though she was legally a doctor her reputation made it so that it was on paper only. Meanwhile her alter ego would find ways to burst out and fight crime as a way of amusement and financing herself. Jane eventually became desperate, but there was one last option. A new group of heroes who had no dedicated physician.
Powers:
  • Rad-Enhanced Physiology: Jane has another form, and alter ego, in the form of Tarasque or Tara. That alternate form has certain abilities:
    • Radioactive Empowerment: Tara can briefly be empowered to great levels of strength by certain types of radiation.
    • Superhuman Condition: Tara has superhuman strength, a large level of durability and a huge pool of stamina.
    • Regeneration: Tara regenerates quite a bit faster than the normal human. This is empowered by radiation too.
  • Medical Genius: Jane is a medical genius, who became a licensed medical doctor in an insanely quick amount of time. This is due partially to very wealthy connections, but also due to her high level of intelligence.

Limitations (Reasons why your char can’t end the universe):
  • Tara can tank most regular bullets with little harm, but shotgun blasts or something of similar or higher damage level would cause her problems.
  • Tara can lift a bus if she exerts herself fully. If empowered by radiation. she can go beyond this, however the power up is very brief.

Weaknesses (Reasons why someone could kick their ass):
  • Anger Triggered Transformation: Rage, not fear, is required to transform Jane into Tara. No other emotion will do. Even fear of death will not trigger a transformation.
  • Calm: By the same token if Tara is sufficiently calmed then she will revert back to Jane. As a result she is vulnerable to telepathic influence. However she is also vulnerable to sleep inducing effects.
  • Cold Vulnrability: Sufficent cold can trigger a transformation back from Tara to Jane, while Tara loses a decent amount of strength and becomes lethargic in the cold.
  • Magic: Magical attacks can disrupt and slow her regeneration.

Her costume is as depicted, however with red instead of silver trim. Also features a peaked cap with a red-white-black band and a red mask that covers her eyes. There is also a red keffiyeh that hangs down from he bottom that is usually loose, but can be pulled around her neck to cover her hair like a hijab (or her face like a shemagh) if necessary or legally required. The badge on her hat is the Hawk of Quraish bearing a scimitar in each talon and the emblem of the Emirate of Dubai on its chest, the emblem is colored, the hawk and swords are silver, and both swords drip blood. Her large sheathes, of which she has eight, are as follows: Four knives, two scimitars, two UMP45s. She also has a pair of Assassin's Creed style wrist knives, and five throwing knives in a pocket in each sleeve, with four additional throwing knives on either side of her skirt.

Bio: When the first supers began to appear, the long trend of the bedouin's shift from the nomadic lifestyle to a more profitable, sedentary one spurred on by the discovery of oil reversed. Emboldened by these powers, their leaders became more open in their disregard, or outright defiance, of the rule of the kings of Saud, the sultans and emirs of the Gulf, or the kings and British of Yemen. The intensity of their defiance, as it is sometimes called, has waxed and waned with the frequency of the tides, but it is since the start of the millennium that it has intensified enough to gain notice of the outside world, especially around Yemen. As such, the nations of Bahrain, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Yemen, and most recently Egypt, have created a voluntary task force of sorts dedicated to maintaining order in the region, the Eagles of Saladin. Initially meant strictly for maintaining order in the largely nomadic desert regions, it has since expanded to a general regional team of the Middle East, western and west-central Asia, and dealing with piracy throughout much of the Arabian Sea.

Reem was born as the first daughter and second child of Kadir bin-Suleiman bin-Hashim al-Hadrami, a veritable genius of superhuman intellect who all but singlehandedly diversified the Emirati economy into the manufacturing sector, putting it on par with Israel both in terms of weapons and superhuman equipment development. Her brother, Ismail, is four years older and while he too has a superpower (able to mentally process dozens of tasks at once), he works for his father designing newer and better equipment. Reem, however, had rather potent superhuman powers, and was fast tracked for training to be a vigilante by a government sponsored program. Being among the elite of the UAE's families more than helped fund it.

While she has worked with the Eagles of Saladin, she, much like the state of Israel, is legally an observer, for two reasons. Firstly, she is not of age by UN standards, and the EoS require all members to be a minimum of eighteen years old. Secondly, even if she is underage she is an unmarried woman, and the Saudi government remains notoriously stubborn on that regulation despite other Middle Eastern nations making (comparatively) herculean strides in women's rights. However she is a licensed vigilante by the UAE, Dubai, and Arab League governments, and has served exemplarly alongside the EoS, most notably in dealing with a water-manipulating pirate captain who nearly stole the Saudi frigate RSNS Taif. As a partial result of her repeated attempts at joining the EoS being rejected, she is currently planning on heading to San Diego to potentially join up with the American team known as the Young Bloods - this trip coincides with a trip by her father and brother to a regional convention on equipment for superhumans, which she is using as a cover to go with him.
Powers:
  • [Hemokinesis]: The manipulation and control of blood. Any blood, regardless of species, will work Coagulated or cooked blood also works, though she rarely comes in contact with this, being from Dubai. As does components of blood, such as plasma, pus, or isolated blood cells.
  • [Hemokinetic Constructs]: The main manifestation of her powers. She can control free-standing blood and make weapons (mostly bladed ones, especially knives), simple vehicles if there's enough and, if there is large amounts of blood, demonic 'blood golems' that can do her bidding. The weapons are extremely sharp and durable, capable of cutting through modern ceramic tank armor, whereas her own blood armor is as strong as the finest medieval plate.
  • [Combat Skill]: There's no getting around how skilled Reem is with knives, both wielded, thrown, and flying from her hemokinesis. She's also very good with scimitars and pistol caliber firearms - which is why she uses SMGs instead of anything heavier.
One could argue having frankly absurd amounts of money is also a power, but by that definition Batman has superpowers. She also speaks several languages - Emirati Arabic, French, English, Hindi, Cantonese, and Japanese.

Limitations:
  • Hemokinetic range of control is a few millimeters for blood within a living body and one hundred meters for free-standing blood not of her own constructs or that she does not know precisely where it is. Free-standing blood or components that she knows the location of is controllable within eight hundred meters.
  • Reem may be in good shape, but she is still physically human and no more durable than that.

Weaknesses:
  • [Temperature Fragility]: The constructs are, ultimately, made of blood. Boiling (or burning) will not destroy them but it will make them brittle and easily shattered, as will extreme cold. Blood golems last up to seven hours unless dismissed and are more durable, but require substantially more blood to form than their equal volume in simpler constructs. Being submerged loosens her control of the blood within, and rough seas can quickly dissolve her constructs.
  • [Blessed Flaw]: Holy water or other blessed items will immediately sever her control over that specific blood construct, depending on the quantity of blessed water, returning it to a pool of blood. Holy water is most effective as it disables control over that pool of blood indefinitely, or until the water evaporates.

Bio: Alcyone Naftis was born in Greece in the sixties, to a bloodline of enhanced individuals, though this was a closely guarded secret and did not present in all offspring. During her childhood, her country was in turmoil, but her family did well. They ran their import/export business, largely importing arms to the regime. When she was nearly 13 however, her family reoriented the Trident Corporation to operate from the United States, partially because of the declining Greek shipping industry and partially to avoid being brought in front of a trial. As she grew older, not only did she develop her powers, but she grew into her family's connections and operating in the family business like no other. She was a snake.

Alcyone was the younger of two sisters, and as such had to wait in line for full control of the company, but she managed to pad her portfolio with contacts by helping a few businessmen meet money launderers that could move their cash out to havens. Meanwhile, her sister's health was failing. As expected, it seemed that her sister, having no access to her mutant abilities, was befalling the family illness that plagued the Naftis family, but not before she married and had a child, effectively making it impossible for Alcyone to inherit full control of the company.

Oddly enough, it wasn't long before her sister passed, and it was not until years later that her younger sister's husband, Aleta's father, passed away mysteriously. As her legal guardian, Alcyone overlooked Trident with a majority of shares. At the same time, she began to realize that there was always extra space on a ship for interested buyers. Trident began importing and exporting experimental weaponry and drugs across the globe, along with their usual cargo.

Unfortunately, it won't be long before her adoptive daughter of her sister, Aleta Lindell, grows into her shares of the company.....
Powers:
  • [Intelligence]: (The White Lamia inherited a miraculous brain, having at least a 200 IQ. Her capacity for memory, calculation, reflexes, and engineering is impressive.)
  • [Poisonous Fangs]: (Alcyone has two fangs, connected to a poison gland, not unlike a snake. She's applied this numerous times to deal with... less desirable business partners. Most of the time, she wears implants to hide her fangs.)

Limitations:
  • (Physically, she has no enhanced durability or physical condition. In an open fight, she'd likely loose in a fist fight against anyone of any skill.)
  • (Alcyone's poison needs to be drawn out of her constantly. If she doesn't take an antivenom, or if she is kept from drawing venom from her system, then her health declines.)

Weaknesses:
  • [Arrogant]: (Alcyone can sometimes ignore the merit of an opponent. She believes herself superior to most people, so she doesn't always take into account what someone is wiling to do to stop or, or the possibility that they can outsmart her plans.)
  • [Stage fright]: (Perhaps because of her father's fear of being brought in front of a trial home in Greece, she has picked up a habit of avoiding standing in the spotlight, and prefers small meetings and sitting in back rooms instead of addressing crowds.)

Bio: Douglas Caldwell was, for all intents and purposes, a normal Californian boy during his childhood and teenage years. Despite not lacking aptitude in either, he showed more interest in manual work than academics, prompting his father to start teaching him about the family business, carpentry. At the same time, his eventual development of an interest in archery led to his family paying him some lessons and buying beginner equipment for him. He quickly improved, showing natural ability for that sort of activity, but not regarding it as anything more than a fulfilling hobby.

Upon finishing highschool and turning 18, Douglas entered an apprenticeship program to become a fully qualified carpenter, spending the next few years in training while helping out seasoned tradesmen. Thanks to his prior experience of grappling with the basics in his father's workshop, he quickly learned how to perform more advanced and complex tasks, mastering them soon enough. After four long years, the apprenticeship program was over, and Douglas became a certified journeyman. At first, he continued working with his father, this time as a peer, but quickly moved on to working on his own. After saving money for a couple of years, he decided to finally move away, hoping to fully realize his desire to "fly away from the nest". His brother had moved to San Diego with his family years earlier, so, without a better idea, Douglas opted to follow suit.

Driving from one city to the other late at night, Douglas was attacked, his car stopped by an unseen force. Stepping outside to investigate, he saw dark chains holding it in place somehow. Suddenly, something pierced his chest; the last thing he saw before collapsing was the silhouette of a man holding a bow. He came to his senses some time later, amazed at the fact that he was not dead, and found the bow in his hands, a black hole (not of the astronomical kind) in his chest and a corpse next to him. Fortunately, a group of magicians in hot pursuit of the renegade bowman soon arrived, and after finding out what happened, explained the situation to him: the man who had attacked him was the wielder of a mystical weapon called the Black Bow. Tired of its burden, he had performed a ritual to pass it on to the next wielder.

Douglas would arrive in San Diego months later than intended, having been taught how to control and, if so desired, harness the Black Bow's power. After spending some time explaining his disappearance to friends and family, which involved liberal use of made-up stories, he settled down, using his savings to open up a small furniture store. At night, however, he took to patrolling the streets, having decided to make good use of the unorthodox power given to him. Presently, he has been living in San Diego for a little under four years.
Powers:
  • [Peak Human Condition]: Due to a combination of constant exercise, a physically demanding profession and on-and-off hero work, Dogulas is in an excellent shape physically speaking.
  • [Archery]: Initially taken up as a hobby and later perfected throughout his career as a hero, archery is Douglas' specialty. While not among the best in the world and lacking sensory powers to enhance his ability, he's still very skilled and able to use his talent to fight crime.
  • [The Black Bow]: The mystical weapon that is the source of Douglas' power, the Black Bow is bound to his soul and can be summoned to him no matter their location or the distance between them. Most of Douglas' powers require him to wield or be in close proximity to the Black Bow in order to be used.
    • [Shadowbolt]: Rather intuitively, this ability allows Douglas to fire off bolts of dark energy. It's the only ability he can use without the Black Bow, though the bolts are greatly empowered while wielding it, and he gains the ability to modulate their potency as needed.
    • [Black Binding]: Douglas can call forth chains made of solid darkness that fly forward from nearby shadows or other unseen corners and bind the target. Contact with these chains will slowly but steadily drain away an opponent's strength, making them very dangerous and effective in restraining powerful foes.
    • [Night Armor]: With the Black Bow's power, Douglas is able to summon an armor made of darkness. In addition to providing him with a powerful defensive layer, the Night Armor also offers insulation and can absorb elemental/energy attacks, to a point.
    • [Flesh of Darkness]: While holding the Black Bow, Douglas can not receive injury from piercing or cutting in the same way a regular human would; instead, the area affected becomes coated in an impenetrable mass of darkness that allows the body to continue functioning as usual.

Limitations:
  • As mentioned, the only ability Douglas can use without the Black Bow is the Shadowbolt, and even then, only a severely weakened version of it. Thus, in addition to being far weaker than he would be with the bow, he is also much easier to harm.
  • Summoning the Black Bow takes a bit of time, meaning Douglas is vulnerable if engaged first.
  • Should an opponent break free of his chains, Douglas will require a brief cooldown time before being able to summon them again.
  • While the Night Armor provides him with some degree of elemental resistance, enough firepower will still make it through.
  • Douglas' Flesh of Darkness only works against wounds made by cutting or piercing weapons, so blunt damage works well against him. In addition, it is a passive ability and can not be turned off at will.

Weaknesses:
  • [Overpowering Light]: If too much light is present in the environment, or if bright lights are shined upon him, Douglas will weaken. His armor will lose much of its defensive power, his chains will become weak and brittle, and his bolts will cause much lesser harm. Most importantly, if his flesh of darkness is engulfed by bright light, it will begin simultaneously spreading through Douglas' body and disintegrating, thus causing massive, easily lethal damage.
  • [Shadow Holocaust]: Once Douglas has been wounded and his flesh of darkness takes hold, it will slowly spread through his body and sap his strength, the rate increasing as the darkness spreads. At this point, the only way to recover any blackened parts of his body is to make an offering of flesh on a fire. As the sacrifice burns, the darkness recedes and the affected body parts return, healed.
  • [Nightmare Presence]: As Douglas continues to use the Black Bow's gifts, dark power outside his control will begin to spread into his surroundings. At first, these seem mostly harmless in nature, simple erratic manifestations of shadow, but with continuous use of the Black Bow, bolts and chains with an apparent mind of their own will begin to hinder him, and in time, even the abilities under his control may fail him.

Bio: Karelia was born to second-generation immigrants from Argentina who had attempted to make the trek to America but ran out of money in southern Michoacan in Mexico, and had taken up a job in an iron mine. Her grandparents had worked the mines, as had her parents, and it was expected her job would involve the mines in some way, however she was far more interested in the stories her grandparents had told her - tales of the heroes and fables of medieval Finland and the Baltics. She became a scholar, and boosted by her grades became the first of her family in the country to make it to university - specifically, UNAM, where her educational career took her all the way to a major in Finnish History, a minor in Northern European Literature and, after a few years researching in the field and archaeological digs in Finland, Russia, and Estonia, managed a doctorate in archaeology that specialized in the region and began teaching. First she taught at Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolás de Hidalgo before moving on to her alma mater.

It was while on a dig near a lake in central Finland where she got the suit that would set her on the career path of heroism. She found a rather interesting tablet wrapped in a large cowl with 'interesting' visual properties, that seemed magical. In certain low light conditions (at least as could be tested at the field lab and in town), both it and the tablet wrapped within vanished entirely. The tablet was far more interesting. It was ancient, in an extremely primitive variant of Elder Futhark, and seemed to be about Ilmarinen and the Sampo, a magical mill capable of generating gold, salt, and flour out of nothing. More importantly it seemed to give clues as to the Sampo's location, though the tablet stated it was very much in the condition as stated in the legend's conclusion (that is, shattered beyond repair) and at the bottom of a bay, the dredging of which had proved fruitless.

Further digging of the region produced more tablets that gave more clues, eventually narrowing it down to a single small, shallow bay. The good news was that the lake was close by, the bad news was that 'sea' was not an exaggeration and it was very much in the Baltic. Still, Karelia was hopeful that the university and the Finnish government would be more than willing to acquiesce to her request for the funding to find it, and she was right to be so. The Finnish government practically threw money at her feet at the very thought of having proof of the veracity of the Kalevala, before the Scandinavian states had found even a trace of evidence to the truthfulness of the Poetic Edda.

Despite a sudden burst of rain, the dive proceeded as planned and revealed the wreckage of a ship that matched the age and descriptions that had been expected, and Finland was known for summer storms. They managed to reach the wreckage, and a magical expert confirmed the shattered object on the wooden boat below, still spewing a slow stream of salt, was indeed the legendary Sampo.

Then a thunderbolt from the heavens struck a fuel tank on the ship with enough force to detonate it, and split the ship in twain. Karelia had always been the strongest swimmer of the bunch, and carried as many of her comrades to shore as she could before passing out. In the dead of night under a full moon, an enormous bearded humanoid, standing a good three meters tall and over half as many wide (all muscle of course), helped her up. Informing her that he was of an alien magical race worshipped by the ancient Finns as gods and that he was the one known as Väinämöinen, he congratulated on her courage in saving the others members of her crew at severe risk of self-injury - in fact, had he not stepped in she would have succumbed to hypothermia.

He decided to give her a reward. He was no craftsmith god, but he managed to tailor his old armor from when he was adventuring on Earth for her well enough - the gauntlets took a bit of work, the iron inlays of the leather armor needed to be shifted around to fit her figure, and the helm had been lost entirely. But with a bit of tweaking, the enormously sturdy base of the Sampo proved an adequate helm due to sheer diameter. He also managed to convince Ilmarinen to surrender his hammer and pickaxe to her.

Ever since - when not going on digs in the eastern Baltic, teaching at university, or doing hero work throughout much of Finland (or Mexico wherever Guerrero Águila is not, or sometimes is, as she has worked with the man before), she's been brushing up on magical research.
Powers:
  • [Sampo Base Helm]: Perkwunos's helmet is made of an immensely dense yet light magical form of iron, some of the first iron ever forged by Ilmarinen. Enormously durable to mundane means, and virtually indestructible to magical ones, it can be used as a shield or be thrown like a frisbee - and after a while it will return to its owner. The edges are sharp enough to cut at high speed, but not so much to cut when being held. It seems to absorb and release kinetic energy like the gauntlets, but not nearly to the same degree. Also protects her hearing.
  • [Väinämöinen's Armor]: A magical armor composed of leather and bits of the First Iron used as inlays, forged by Ilmarinen himself and imbued with incredible magical ability. Virtually impervious to magic and very much bulletproof to small arms fire all the way up to light cannons, it's the gauntlets that have real interesting properties - they can absorb and release both kinetic and electric energy, releasing them by bashing them together or against something composed of iron. While they can release electricity, they are more notable for releasing a thunderclap of sound energy equal or, with enough absorbed power, greater than an actual thunderbolt. The boots are made of similar material and have similar properties, but due to being thinner they can neither absorb nor release more than about half the amount the gauntlets can. They can make her run and 'fly' through the air in poor weather - that was Ukko's idea to throw that in for the modern era. The cloak, which was part of it, grants her invisibility in low light - to the visible, infrared, and UV spectra at least. It also increases her lifespan notably, and keeps her body at bearable temperatures in most weather, keeps her pressurized while in storms, and functions as a lightning rod - she can zap but cannot be zapped herself, instead the electricity shoots outwards in all directions.
  • [Ilmarinen's Tools]: Magical, hella strong, and they can release stored energy into any metal and, with enough stored, allow Karelia to manipulate it at will - it works best with iron and ores of iron. The pickaxe can shatter the hardest rocks like glass, but is otherwise just a very very hard pickaxe against other materials. They can also shoot lightning out if enough electrical energy builds up in them.

Limitations:
  • If there is an upper limit to absorbed kinetic energy, Karelia hasn't found it, but the helm only provides so much protection against loud noises, and using up too much can harm her hearing. It also does not protect her against temperature that much.
  • While Ilmarinen's tools only work for her and Finnish 'gods', they don't return to her like the Helm does. Or if they do they're really stubborn.

Weaknesses:
  • [Mortality]: She still needs to breathe, eat, sleep, etc.
  • [Omnidirectional Dispersal]: Her aim with sound is nonexistent, because it's sound. Electric attacks that hit her go in all directions, and she has no control whatsoever over this.
  • [Weight Limit]: There seems to be a hard limit of sixteen tons of iron OR ten tons of steel OR eight tons of any other metal besides gold, with a maximum of five tons, for how much mass she can control at one time. She can probably push past this, but doing so is painful so she hasn't tried much.

Quick Summary(paragraph please): So way back in the day, some Dra'qunni decided to see how far they cold push their enchantments when it came to weaponry. This being before the development of hand held ranged weaponry. It worked and many of these weapons were created. Their power varied but they were usually enough to turn an ordinary man into one to be feared. Time passed and even with the invention of ranged weapons, these old weapons still remained a terrible threat. Thankfully peace more or less worked out so these weapons were separated and locked away. Fast forward a long time and some of the vaults that held these weapons were dug up by archaeologists unaware of their magical properties. Cue some weird collector with knowledge of the mystic arts discovering it's existence in a museum and hiring some mercenaries to steal it for him.

Some people just can't handle power.

Harley knew only two names as a young pup: Specimen #495, the name he was formally referred to by the men that wore white, and Harley, the name given to him by the research staff around him. It seemed as if all he knew at first was that number - #495. This was what he was given when he was picked up from the streets that created him, and the name that he would know meant "me" for the next couple years of his life.

The German Shepherd that would later become known as Harley was picked up off of the streets by the Wonders Foundation, a corporation that had found a way to synthesize superpowers, which they later began mass producing and selling to the public, allowing them to garner a massive fortune and vast popularity worldwide. But, unknown, to the public, the Wonders Foundation housed a dark secret in its highly-covert Test Wing, where the synthesizing many artificial superpowers came about through dangerous, often painful tests and experimentation. After garnering attention from the Pentagon, who saw in the Wonders Foundation the potential application of super-powered soldiers and animals on the battlefield, the Wonders Foundation was granted a hefty black budget to start a new project, the Animal Test Wing (ATW), in which animals from a variety of species would be experimented on to investigate the potential application — and effectiveness — of super-powered animals for military purposes.

Over the course of a year, the ATW collected a literal menagerie of animals ranging from lions to tigers, horses to wolves, and a myriad of other species. One such animal was Harley, a young German Shepherd puppy picked up from the streets to be taken in for testing by the ATW, given the designation number of #495. Before he could be properly administered powers, Harley was first tested mentally and physically as he matured. The scientists had high expectations from Specimen #495 and quickly grew a liking to the German Shepherd, who was able to complete problem-solving puzzles and tasks to a higher degree of success than the other canine test subjects. He was later dubbed "Harley" after a bet from one of the scientists, naming him after his favorite brand of motorcycle. This would gradually surpass #495 as a recognizable name that Harley knew, so much so that the scientists dropped referring to him as #495 altogether and resorted to using the other given name.

Soon, Harley and many other animals under the control of the ATW were old enough and in good enough of a physical condition to be inducted into the tests, which were horrific enough to almost instantaneously change Harley's expectations and views on the people testing him. The Wonders Foundation had effectively perfected a serum that could be used to administer permanent powers to animals, which had quite.. random, and often adverse effects to the animals who were not weak enough to adapt to their new powers. The powers that he was given were administered via IV in a painful process, which forcefully altered his physical structure, sure enough giving him powers that he was not naturally supposed to have. The other animals were not as lucky, either succumbing to the pain of their genetic structure being altered by the super-serum or surviving, but left disfigured in abnormal shapes.

After this, Harley was subject to more tests, this time designed to assess his ability to fight and evaluate the strength of his powers. To him, these seemed like harmless games, at first, consisting of stationary targets which were eliminated with ease... before the live targets came in, much to the horror of Harley, who now somewhat understood the horrific implications of his actions through deductive reasoning. His inability to cooperate with the scientists' instructions only made them more impatient as they forced him to do more, in the form of abusive punishments if he did not. The worst of which was the electric shock baton, which filled him painful doses of electricity that would not relent until he decided to use his powers accidentally or by will.

Coincidentally after this horrific series of tests, a mole within the ATW leaked the horrific results of the tests out to the rest of the Wonders Foundation, looking to shut the entire program down for good and expose it to the public. All information about this event was suppressed from the public in time for the researcher to be fired and the ATW to be shut down completely, its funding taken away by the Pentagon, who saw that super-powered animals (specifically dogs) could, in fact, be used in combat, but questioned the Wonders Foundation's apparent indifference towards the use of questionable ethical policies in the ATW's research. Thus, they ordered that all traces of the test be erased, animals included, before returning to their own devices.

Aware of the danger that wild, super-powered animals running amok posed, the Wonders Foundation began putting down their test animals in droves, causing much panic among the super-powered fauna — many of whom unsuccessfully escaped from captivity. Harley, however, managed to slip away in the chaos that ensued, quickly escaping the confines of his testing facility and seemingly disappearing from existence, leaving the terrible memories behind for good.

Making his way into the streets of San Diego, Harley is now back to being a stray, albeit one with super powers. Aside from the occasional snatch of a petty thief or rescue of a cat from a tree, Harley's life has regressed back to a normal one of scavenging and looking cute to passersby. He has found himself without a proper home or owner, let alone a friend, who can teach him how to use his powers for reasons greater than stopping bad people on the streets: stopping super powered villains. Hopefully, the existence of a certain band of super powered youngsters known as the Young Bloods could teach him how to do so...

Powers:
  • [Canine Physiology]: As a dog, Harley already has sharp claws and teeth that can aid in combat up close, along with a powerful bite and acute senses. He also can run much faster than a human and can communicate with other dogs, even being able to call upon other nearby dogs to aid him in battle. After his augmentation, his senses — specifically his senses of smell, taste, and hearing — are highly toned up, allowing him to locate targets by smell alone or hear incoming threats.
  • [Heightened Intelligence]: From early on in his life, Harley has been able to complete problem-solving puzzles and tasks in various tests and has shown levels of higher intelligence compared to most dogs. Not to mention, German Shepherds have repeatedly been proven to be an intelligent breed of dog as gestured by their work with police, military, and rescue roles. After his exposure to the super serum that provided him his powers his overall intelligence was doubled, giving him a mind comparable to that of a 10 year old human. Additionally, although he cannot talk, he is entirely capable of understanding human speech.
  • [Enhanced Conditionj]: The super serum gifted Harley with the otherwise standard power of super strength. Before Harley was only capable of dealing as much damage as... a regular dog. Now, he is capable of easily smashing through brick walls, the power if his bite and slash of his claws now able to bend and cut through reinforced steel. Additionally, Harley is now faster and more agile than he was before, and is able to recover to injuries much faster than a regular dog. For some reason, his eyes have also turned from amber to a blue color, and apparently glow bright in combat or when Harley is using his powers.
  • [Flight]: Harley was also gifted the power of flight from the super serum, allowing him to fly with ease and at high speeds.
  • [Sonic Bark]: Harley is now capable of letting out a powerful bark which is powerful enough to crack through reinforced walls, shatter glass, or even stun opponents within range. At closer ranges he can simply blow away enemies and other objects with the sheer force of his bark alone.

Limitations:
  • Although he has heightened intelligence compared to most dogs, at the end of the day, Harley is essentially only a 10 year old mentally, making him easily fooled and manipulated.
  • Unlike a regular bark, frequent usage of the Sonic Bark will cause Harley's voice to grow hoarse, limiting his ability to use the power at all.
  • Harley's canine empathy has no effect on wolves or foxes or coyotes — only domesticated dogs.
  • Harley is unable to communicate with humans in any way aside from subtle motions.
  • Harley's powers work in tandem with his stamina. If he is exhausted, tired, or dehydrated, he will fly at slower speeds and will have less strength to spare, and will be unable to use his Sonic Bark. The power augmentation process did nothing to his stamina — it is the same as it has been before his augmentation.

Weaknesses:
  • [Toxins]: Along with conventional poisons and toxins having a much more adverse effect on Harley's immune system as a result of his serum, Harley also carries a regular canine weakness to foods like raisins, onions, and chocolate, which are potentially lethal to him.
  • [Heat Exhaustion]: Dog fur is great protection against the cold but can be problematic in hot weather. While Harley does have sweat glands in his footpads to help with heat dissipation, this only accounts for a minimal amount of heat dissipation. When panting isn’t enough, his body temperature will rise quickly, which can be fatal if not corrected quickly. Without proper hydration or cover from the heat he can easily succumb to heat exhaustion.
  • [Short Attention Span]: Harley has a very short attention span, and is easily distracted by the smallest or most minute of details or occurrences, be it small animals or other dogs running by.
  • [Water]: Unusually, Harley has an immobilizing fear of deep water, having never truly been exposed to it aside from drinking it, and will go nowhere near deep water as a result.
  • [Sensory Overload]: Harley is unable to keep up with himself if he needs to listen to or hear multiple things at once. In other words he cannot use his heightened hearing along with his smell, or vice versa, due to being overwhelmed by multiple stimuli at once. Thus, loud noises can easily disorient him and different smells can also distract him quite easily.

Hey guys, sorry for going quiet (again) though this time I'm just popping in for a sec to say I've gotta drop this RP. Probably my favorite one to have been in but I just don't have the time to try and keep up with it and my studies nowadays. That said, its been great and thanks for letting me jump in and out for while :D

Bio(Please treat this as a replacement for a writing sample. No more than a few paragraphs is necessary but it should be well written):

Born in Hamburg on November 12th 1909, Elsa was born in a family of nobility. Her father was a nobleman and a general back then, one that was decorated. As she was a noble child, she was pampered. But those pampered ended when German Empire was involved in a war with Entente on 1914, the World War 1. Elsa, who was 5 at that time, was pampered but not quite as it used to be and the experience made her slightly bitter about the whole situation. As he grew older, however, he started to understand and even remarked the whole thing as a sad situation, one that went for the worst as German Empire lost on 1918 and the subsequent abolishment of nobility title on 1919. Her mother turned insane from the experience and was admitted to one of the few still-active psychiatric institution. Her father, a general who still served in the army despite his former nobility title and involvement in German Empire's war, was given a wage and a house, unlike when they were a noble. Elsa was thus taught about the nobility and the restoration of monarchy and nobility by her bitter father, who felt that German Empire didn't deserved such fate.

Fast forward on 1929, Elsa was 20, she just graduated from vocational school with an educational's vocational degree. A friend introduced her to the Nazi Party, an up-and-coming political party. Despite still a monarchist at her heart, Nazi's dream was too much of a good thing for her that she enjoyed their policies. Her father died because of an illness and he didn't participated much in any coup attempts before 1929. Although the party was tackled down in their failed coup, Elsa avoided arrest through her father's political connections, which despite his death, still being a relevant figure in the armed forces. Soon after, the Germany turned into a Nazi-controlled country and Elsa became part of the country's female corps, in the educational branch. Soon the World War 2 started, and the Germany turned to experimenting various experiments for super-soldiers. Elsa joined one of these experiments, a joint Japan-Germany program to produce a super-soldier using a genetic research from Unit 731. While the experiment was a success, not all who became the results had a stable personality post-experiment. Only few, including Elsa, who were able to not turned insane from the experience. Soon she and the others were involved in the high-risks missions such as sabotage the enemy supply lines and assassinations. However, the limited numbers of super-soldiers, the increasingly high cost and high risks in the production, and the eventual losses and surrender of the Germany didn't turn well for the experiment. Elsa and the few surviving was given a transportation via U-Boat en route to Argentina, but unfortunately the submarine was shot down by the Allies.

Fast forward to the present time, a wreckage of submarine was discovered and unearthed, brought to the land. Elsa, was found to be alive, and the only one to alive...

  • Landmine Shock: Utilizing Earth energy, Deathferd deliver a crushing kick upside the head at blinding speed.

Quick Summary(paragraph please): The time has come yet again, another year, another Tournament! Hell's Gate Tournament is an internationally acclaimed competition of individual strength, will, and ability that has, for the first time, opened it's doors to active superheroes and supervillains! Once catering exclusively to martial artists (who may use their powers but are ultimately martial artists at heart), pressure from the fans has unleashed the flood gates for superpowered combatants to try their might against each other and the strongest trained men and women on Earth. Hell's Gate Tournament is held in different locations each year, and this years' locale is Tropic Atoll, just a boat ride away from lush Hawaii!

Contestants are invite-only, and they are non-discriminatory on the criminal charges of it's members, allowing for villains and wanted martial artists alike to compete without worry of compromising their freedom. But! Why compete? What is there to win? For most, the glory of victory is enough to satisfy the pride of contestants, to be known as the strongest on Earth! But for others, there is a multitude of prizes for advancing past qualifiers, semi-finals, and the ultimate prize itself! What was once a million-dollar adventure has now gone up an order of magnitude thanks to some anonymous, deep-pocketed sponsors, and the grand champion of the tournament will walk away with one billion dollars. Born in Hamburg on November 12th 1909, Elsa was born in a family of nobility. Her father was a nobleman and a general back then, one that was decorated. As she was a noble child, she was pampered. But those pampered ended when German Empire was involved in a war with Entente on 1914, the World War 1. Elsa, who was 5 at that time, was pampered but not quite as it used to be and the experience made her slightly bitter about the whole situation. As he grew older, however, he started to understand and even remarked the whole thing as a sad situation, one that went for the worst as German Empire lost on 1918 and the subsequent abolishment of nobility title on 1919. Her mother turned insane from the experience and was admitted to one of the few still-active psychiatric institution. Her father, a general who still served in the army despite his former nobility title and involvement in German Empire's war, was given a wage and a house, unlike when they were a noble. Elsa was thus taught about the nobility and the restoration of monarchy and nobility by her bitter father, who felt that German Empire didn't deserved such fate.

Fast forward on 1929, Elsa was 20, she just graduated from vocational school with an educational's vocational degree. A friend introduced her to the Nazi Party, an up-and-coming political party. Despite still a monarchist at her heart, Nazi's dream was too much of a good thing for her that she enjoyed their policies. Her father died because of an illness and he didn't participated much in any coup attempts before 1929. Although the party was tackled down in their failed coup, Elsa avoided arrest through her father's political connections, which despite his death, still being a relevant figure in the armed forces. Soon after, the Germany turned into a Nazi-controlled country and Elsa became part of the country's female corps, in the educational branch. Soon the World War 2 started, and the Germany turned to experimenting various experiments for super-soldiers. Elsa joined one of these experiments, a joint Japan-Germany program to produce a super-soldier using a genetic research from Unit 731. While the experiment was a success, not all who became the results had a stable personality post-experiment. Only few, including Elsa, who were able to not turned insane from the experience. Soon she and the others were involved in the high-risks missions such as sabotage the enemy supply lines and assassinations. However, the limited numbers of super-soldiers, the increasingly high cost and high risks in the production, and the eventual losses and surrender of the Germany didn't turn well for the experiment. Elsa and the few surviving was given a transportation via U-Boat en route to Argentina, but unfortunately the submarine was shot down by the Allies.

Fast forward to the present time, a wreckage of submarine was discovered and unearthed, brought to the land. Elsa, was found to be alive, and the only one to alive...

Faction Name: Justice and Mercy Hospitals
Faction Location/Territory: One hospital in each large city in the US West Coast and Southwest
Tech Level: Generally typical for the setting, but their medical diagnostic equipment is indistinguishable from magic. ("*Poof!* We know what's wrong with you!")

Description/Lore: Justice and Mercy Hospitals is a regional chain of hospitals providing medical services to registered supers. They also sell medical insurance to them, as they usually can't buy typical medical insurance policies.

Justice and Mercy Hospitals established their first hospital in Denver in 1983. They opened a branch in LA in 1989, and decided to expand into their current region in 2000.

Population Size: Thousands of hospital staff, nearly all mundanes, but including at least six registered supers with some healing ability in each hospital (two per standard hospital shift).

Army Size (If any): They have staff to run their defenses against supervillain attack -- largely an array of sensors, power suppresors, and force fields -- but their main defense against attack is nearly impenetrable plot armor.

Races that are part of the faction: Humans, and small numbers of other common setting species

Additional Info: These should exist for story reasons, since most supers don't have access to their own healing abilities or medical facilities. Even non-heroic registered supers need specialized care from time to time.
