The Legacy of the Tournament of Champions (OOC, Open)

Postby Olthar » Sat Sep 01, 2018 5:07 pm

The Legend of the Tournament of Champions
IC Thread

In ancient times, the world of Tournia was filled with strife and conflict as all the creatures of land warred with one another over land and resources. These creatures united into eleven distinct factions, each attempting to conquer the world for only themselves. For millennia, the people knew only death and chaos.

Then, a group of mysterious beings of metal came from beyond the stars and silenced the endless war. They divided the world into twelve sections: one for each faction plus themselves. Then, in their part of the world, they built a giant colosseum they named The Tournament of Champions. This Tournament was opened to warriors of every faction who would compete for the prize. It was a friendly competition of sportsmanship and integrity, and for the next thousand years, Tournia knew peace.

But things aren't always as they seem.

Over time, The Tournament of Champions has become more aggressive, and relations between the factions have become more tense. There are even rumors about another war brewing on the horizon...

Welcome! This is a character-based RP set in a high fantasy, pseudo-medieval world that will probably, but not necessarily, involve a lot of combat. The focus of the story is on exploration, discovery, and intrigue as the players try to uncover a nefarious plot the throw the world back into chaos.

This RP uses numerical stats to represent a character's abilities. These are, however, vague approximations that serve as guidelines rather than hard rules. Mostly, they prevent powergaming by applying real limits to characters. There are four stats: offense, defense, speed, and special, and you have 16 points to distribute among them. The different factions come with different maximum caps for these stats.

You also have 4 points to put into talents. These can be absolutely anything from martial art skills to magical abilities to super healing or anything else you can come up with to make your character unique. Don't, however, pick clearly overpowered talents; I reserve the right to reject any application for that. You may also trade talent and stat points back and forth at a ratio of 1 talent point for 2 stat points.

Throughout the RP, you may be granted additional stat and/or talent points based on whether or not I think you deserve them.

Offense: This represents your ability to deal damage with physical attacks and weapons.

Defense: This represents your ability to get hit with physical attacks and not die.

Speed: This represents how fast you are in both hitting and not getting hit.

Special: This represents your ability to both make and survive magic attacks.

Stat Ranks:
0: You are a horrible piece of shit who can't do anything.
1: You suck really, really bad.
2: You are below average.
3: You are boringly average.
4: You are above average.
5: You are at the peak of normal human capabilities.
6: You are slightly superhuman. (Building-buster/Horse-speed)
7: You are decently superhuman. (Street-buster/Scooter-speed)
8: You are greatly superhuman. (Block-buster/Car-speed)
9: You are amazingly superhuman. (Neighborhood-buster/Racecar-speed)
10: You are fantastically superhuman. (City-buster/Commercial plane-speed)
11: You are terrifically superhuman. (Military plane-speed)
12: You are embarrassingly superhuman. (Rocket-speed)

Talent Ranks:
0: You have no talents, dumbass.
1: You are a bit talented.
2: You are moderately talented.
3: You are very talented.
4: You are highly talented.
5: You are supremely talented.
6: You are the most talented person in existence.

The Factions

While the factions have all fought one another for millennia, they all have their strengths and weaknesses, factions that they are particularly adept at fighting and those that they are particularly vulnerable to. This does not guarantee victory, but it does weigh things heavily in one side's favor.

Mortal Factions
These factions are made up of the normal beings on Tournia, the ones who are born, live, and die. They have physical needs, like eating and sleeping, and they require some form of shelter. Of course, undead a a bit of an exception to many of these, but they still fall into the mortal category.
Offense: 6
Defense: 6
Speed: 6
Special: 6

Strong Against: Giants, Monsters, Dragons, Oozes
Weak Against: Undead, Fairies, Dinosaurs, Oozes

Humans (also dwarves, halflings, and orcs) are the most populous and, in their minds, most civilized of the factions. They build large cities with big, impressive structures and spend great amounts of time on things like art and music. Physically, they have no particular strengths, but also no particular weaknesses. In combat, they tend towards large militarized forces with an emphasis on intelligence and tactics.
Offense: 8
Defense: 6
Speed: 4
Special: 6

Strong Against: Undead, Monsters, Dinosaurs, Oozes
Weak Against: Humans, Fairies, Dragons, Oozes

Giants (also trolls and ogres) are nomadic herders who typically lead simple, peaceful lives in small family groups or tribes. Though often perceived as dumb, they are actually just as intelligent as humans and merely prefer the modest life style. They do, however, get very competitive at times, especially when it comes to the Tournament of Champions.
Offense: 6
Defense: 8
Speed: 6
Special: 4

Strong Against: Humans, Fairies, Dinosaurs, Oozes
Weak Against: Giants, Monsters, Dragons, Oozes

Undead are the reanimated corpses of the human races, which seem to just rise on their own every so often. The undead have very little in the way of societies or cultures and mostly seem to exist only to kill things. Some undead possess intelligence, but many do not.
Offense: 2
Defense: 4
Speed: 8
Special: 10

Strong Against: Humans, Giants, Dragons, Oozes
Weak Against: Undead, Monsters, Dinosaurs, Oozes

Fairies (also elves and gnomes) are the people of the forests, rivers, and mountains. They are intrinsically tied to nature and revere it above all else. They tend to live in small settlements built into the natural landscape. They are cheerful and sly, often playing pranks on others, making them troublesome to combat.
Offense: 8
Defense: 8
Speed: 4
Special: 4

Strong Against: Undead, Fairies, Dinosaurs, Oozes
Weak Against: Humans, Giants, Dragons, Oozes

Monsters is a catchall category for all the fantastical beasts of the land, such as chimeras, unicorns, manticores, centaurs, shapeshifters, and so many others. Most monsters live in solitude in the wilds of Tournia, though most of them are intelligent. They have little desire for the company of others and, thus, have no form of society to speak of.
Offense: 8
Defense: 10
Speed: 2
Special: 4

Strong Against: Giants, Undead, Monsters, Oozes
Weak Against: Humans, Fairies, Dinosaurs, Oozes

Dragons (also wyverns and hydras) are ancient beasts who live in solitude in the most remote corners of the world. Though they shun societies and the trappings of civilization, they often have a great love of shiny objects and things others consider valuable. They are greedy creatures who often horde the treasures of the other factions for no other reason than to have them.
Offense: 10
Defense: 8
Speed: 4
Special: 2

Strong Against: Humans, Fairies, Dragons, Oozes
Weak Against: Giants, Undead, Monsters, Oozes

Dinosaurs are not actually intelligent beings. They are little more than big, strong animals. However, they are so amazingly strong and so fiercely territorial that the other factions still have troubles keeping them contained. This has propelled dinosaurs into an unofficial "faction" unto themselves.

Spirit Factions
The spirits are not normal beings; they are the physical manifestations of certain concepts or ideas. They are not born, and while they can be slain, they do not truly die, either. Their existence is more abstract and ephemeral.
Offense: 4
Defense: 4
Speed: 8
Special: 8

Strong Against: Demons, Elementals, Oozes
Weak Against: Demons, Elementals, Oozes

Angels are the spirits of kindness and purity. They have entire cities built into the clouds that they consider to be the pinnacle of all civilization. They create great works of art that they claim are the best in all the land. They look down at all the other races, especially the mortals, as being lesser and sinful.
Offense: 8
Defense: 4
Speed: 4
Special: 8

Strong Against: Angels, Elementals, Oozes
Weak Against: Angels, Elementals, Oozes

Demons are the spirits of strength and individuality. They live in giant cities of stone in deep underground caverns. They firmly believe that might makes right as the only truth in the world. They pillage and conquer because that is their privilege, and they see no point in doing things that don't advance one's personal power.
Offense: 4
Defense: 8
Speed: 4
Special: 8

Strong Against: Angels, Demons, Oozes
Weak Against: Angels, Demons, Oozes

Elementals are the spirits of the essential elements of nature. They desire for little more than maintaining the balance of the natural world. It is unknown whether or not they are truly intelligent or just automatons following some highly complex program.

Other Factions
These factions are ones that are truly unique with peculiar properties and characteristics. So different are they that they do not fit into either of the other categories.
Offense: 4
Defense: 4
Speed: 12
Special: 4

Strong Against: Every other faction except mechana
Weak Against: Every other faction except mechana

Oozes are, perhaps, the most bizarre of creatures on Tournia. They are composed only of jelly and slime, yet they are somehow still living creatures. What's more, they seem to display some semblance of intelligence, though they cannot speak. Where they come from, how they reproduce, and how they even live are all unanswered questions.
Offense: 8
Defense: 8
Speed: 8
Special: 0

Strong Against: Mechana
Weak Against: Mechana

The mechana are strange beings with metal skin who descended to Tournia from the sky more than 1,000 years ago. They cannot use magic, but they wield bizarre energy weapons. They build large, square structures out of metal and liquid stone that reach high into the sky, and they communicate with each other through beeps and chirps. Their society is one of efficiency above everything, and they shun all forms of art and self expression.

The Human Lands
Located in the central heartlands of Tournia's largest continent, Contessa, the human lands are filled with hundreds of petty kingdoms and feudal lords. However, all bow before High King Richard IV. The human lands have rich soil and numerous lakes and rivers, perfect for agriculture. However, they lack good sources of metal, often resulting in armed excursions outside their borders. Most commonly, they set up clandestine mining camps in the northern mountains of the giants.

Culturally, the humans live in a very stratified society with the haves on top and the have nots on bottom. Those born into wealth and influence continue to prosper while those born into poverty only wallow in it further, unable to escape. Humans are highly militarized with societies that favor skill in martial combat above all else. As such, the kingdoms often war with one another, breeding hatred among themselves almost rivaling their hatred of the other factions.

Due to the sheer aggressive nature of the humans, their lands are almost entirely populated only by them. There are a few fairies living in the forests, and occasionally small villages will be overtaken by undead. The swamps and marshes are also often home to oozes. However, there is no significant presence of any other faction.

The Giant Hills
The giants live in the highlands of Contessa, north of the human lands. Their lands are rich in mineral ores but poor for farming, leaving the giants to live as nomadic herders. They mostly herd large animals like mammoths and, sometimes, dinosaurs, but they also keep cows and horses. They train bears as pets like humans train dogs.

Giant culture is one of tradition and religious values. They practice ancient rites and rituals that have been passed down for generations, and they shy away from any sort of progress. They are slow to act and slower to change. Though they live primarily in small tribes, they all respect and honor Great Chief Rockshatter as the spiritual father of the giants.

The giant hills are frequently host to creeping human encroachment and have a modest population of dinosaurs. Several mountain forests also have small numbers of fairies and oozes, and the tallest mountains are often home to dragons and elementals.

The Wastes
The southern reaches of Contessa are populated by the hordes of the undead. The land is dry and barren, and most of the wastes is consumed by the massive Death Dune Desert. Very little lives here, and the undead are determined to wipe out what little remains. They often try pushing north onto the human lands in a never ending desire to destroy all life.

The undead have virtually no culture, but they do have a single city: the Necropolis. It is a massive structure built into the sands of the desert and ruled by The Mummy Pharaoh, also known as The Lady of Ten Thousand Plagues. Many of the undead that possess some fragment of intelligence call the place their home.

The wastes are virtually uninhabitable to most forms of life and has no presence of any other faction except for the occasional elemental.

The Eternal Forest
The eternal forest is the largest forest on Tournia and is located on the western half of the continent Competitia. It is the home of the fairies who live among the trees in harmony with nature. The middle of the forest also contains Tranquil Lake, the largest body of freshwater in the world, and it serves as the source for a web of rivers that weave through the forest.

Most fairies live in a casual society with little need for rules or governments, but some races of fairies, most notably the elves and gnomes, have a slightly more structured way of life and show fealty to The Eternal Queen, Lliarrella the Fair. The rest tend to only grant token respect, if they give her anything at all.

As the fairies tend to live in the branches of great trees, the forest floor is not so heavily patrolled and is frequently home to many other factions such as monsters, dinosaurs, elementals, oozes, and some of the lesser dragons, like hydras. There are also some human settlements on the western shore, invaders looking for more wood and farmland.

The Untamed Lands
The eastern half of Competitia is a wild land with many distinct ecosystems, like mountains, forests, swamps, and plains. It is the largest of the twelve regions and is populated by the numerous different species of monsters, most of whom carve out their own individual slivers of territory. The monsters have no culture and no government, respecting only power and the will to dominate. They have no leaders, but they all fear the Tarrasque as the biggest and strongest of their kind.

With no formal society, it is easy for other factions to slip in without notice, and the untamed lands have become lousy with intruders, like humans, fairies, dinosaurs, dragons, elementals, oozes, and even a few giants who wandered away from home.

The Dragonlands
The dragonlands are located on the northern half of the continent Conflitica. They are primarily filled with tall mountains and cold wetlands, and they are, naturally, the home of the dragons. Quite a number of dragons, however, are not pleased with their designated part of Tournia as it tends to be difficult to dig caves in such muddy ground, and during spring, many of the low-laying ones get flooded. There's nothing worse than a hoard of rusty treasure.

The dragons have little in the way of culture, but they are vaguely ruled by The Council of Dragons formed from the nine strongest dragons in the world. They meet every few decades or so to guide their kind, but they rarely accomplish much as most other dragons don't even recognize them as legitimate.

With the hermetic nature of most dragons, the dragonlands have become host to many foreign invaders, such as fairies, monsters, elementals, oozes, and occasional human raiding parties seeking to reclaim their stolen treasures.

Dinosaur Island
While called dinosaur island, it is actually a continent, specifically, it is Combattia, the smallest continent on Tournia. Located in the tropics, dinosaur island has many lush rainforests, grasslands, and rolling hills. In the center of the continent is the great volcano known as Flame Tooth. Being nothing more than large animals, the dinosaurs follow only the laws of nature. Though they lack leaders, there is one abnormally large dinosaur that is stronger than all the others and known to the other factions as King Rex.

Due to the fierce and territorial nature of dinosaurs, dinosaur island has barely been touched by the other factions and has only small populations of oozes that seemingly crop up from nowhere.

Cloudtopolis
High above the ground, floating in the sky, there is a city in the clouds. With buildings of clouds and streets of clouds, it is one of the most marvelous of sights in all of Tournia, and few outside of the angels have ever even laid eyes upon it. Cloudtopolis follows the wind as it blows through the skies, constantly moving all across the world.

The angels live in a highly structured society where every person knows their place and does not deviate. They exist in a six-level caste system based on combat skill, artistic skill, and attractiveness. At the bottom is the mud caste, and working up from there are the rain caste, the snow caste, the sky caste, the cloud caste, and, finally, the sun caste. Above all of them, however, is Archangel Nathaniel, the undisputed ruler of Cloudtopolis.

Due to the physical nature of Cloudtopolis, it is impossible for any other faction to live there. Angels are the only beings that can walk on clouds. However, occasionally there will be some elementals found living in the clouds, and floating oozes sometimes pop out of the buildings.

The Abyssal Pits
Deep, deep in the ground is a massive system of caves known as the abyssal pits. With no plant life and illuminated only by raging fires and glowing magma, it is one of the most hostile environments on the planet. There are numerous tunnels leading to the surface in Contessa, Competitia, and Conflitica. There used to be an opening to Combattia, but the demons collapsed that tunnel ages ago to keep the dinosaurs out.

Demon society is one of perpetual struggle and conflict where only the strong survive, and the weak are ground up into dust. There are no rules, no laws, except for those you can enforce, yourself. Success means being better than your neighbors in every way, and the most successful demon is Tyrinna Bone-Nasher, who rules over thousands of other demons with an iron fist.

The abyssal pits are particularly uninhabitable for most forms of life. Nearer towards the surface, there can sometimes be found humans, monsters, and dragons, but deeper down, the only other faction that can be found are elementals and flaming oozes.

The Nature Preserve
The southern half of Conflitica is a large, almost untouched nature preserve guarded over by the elementals. It is a place of tranquil beauty and untamed freedom where the forces of nature run wild. The elementals have no form of society or civilization, but they do have five of their kind that stand above the rest: the elder elementals.

There are many races that seek land and resources within the nature preserve, and it is often invaded by humans, giants, fairies, monsters, and dragons. However, the only ones who seem to have gained any sort of real foothold are the oozes.

The Jelly Swamp
Sandwiched between the eternal forest and the untamed lands is the jelly swamp. It is the smallest of the twelve regions but the oozes are constantly invading nearly every other region. Lacking any noticeable intelligence, the oozes have no civilization and act on instinct alone: spread out and eat everything in sight. Though, they only seem to want to eat animals and people and ignore plants. While they have no leaders, there is one ooze that is bigger and stronger than the rest: Lord Slimey.

With how dangerous oozes can be, the other factions give the jelly swamp a wide berth. Not even the elementals bother going there.

Mechana City
When the mechana came down from the stars, they claimed the large island of Carnagia for themselves and built their city atop it. The land has now been entirely overtaken by their massive structures and no longer has any spark of natural life. Not even a single blade of grass can be found in the cold, unfeeling streets of Mechana City.

The mechana have a complicated society where every individual does their part to further the whole, seemingly with no direction or instruction. The mechana do not appear to have any selfish desire and work only to support the collective. They do not even have any leaders at all. It is a truly bizarre and alien society.

Unlike all the other races, the mechana have faithfully abided by the regional separation that was decided when they first ended the war 1,000 years ago. They do not sneak into other regions, and they do not allow others to sneak into theirs. However, most of the other factions are simply too intimidated by them to even try, and ever since the mechana eliminated all trace of nature from their island, not even the elementals and oozes show up anymore.

Champion Colusseum
Champion Colusseum is an artificial island that floats in the middle of the ocean, outside of all twelve regions. It was built and is operated solely by the mechana. The other factions barely even understand how it functions. This has lead to many claims that the mechana cheat in the Tournament of Champions, and it is a little suspicious that they've won nearly 40% of all the tournaments to date with twelve factions competing. They claim, of course, that they are not rigging the game, and that they are merely superior combatants.

Champion Colusseum is run by CCA-0001 and CCA-0002, commonly called C1 and C2 by the other factions. Unlike most mechana, these two seem to have more in the way of personalities and speak in more expressive tones. They serve as the commentators for the Tournament of Champions and often make snarky and sarcastic remarks, especially against competitors of the other factions.

Personality: The Mummy Pharaoh is a very spiteful and jealous ruler that torturously punishes any perceived slight against her. With her scepter, betrayal is literally unthinkable, and yet she still finds excuses to execute her subjects nearly every day. She fervently hates the humans more than any other and wishes to see them all slaughtered and their lands burned to ash.
Backstory: The Necropolis is the oldest city on Tournia, originally built by The Mummy Pharaoh nearly 6,000 years ago. Where she came from and who she was before that no one knows. Even she, herself, no longer remembers anything, not even her real name. She is simply The Mummy Pharaoh and nothing else. She divides her attention between making new and arbitrary laws to force her subjects to follow, trying to conquer the human lands, and rebuilding her palace to be bigger and more impressive. Her goal is to make her palace so tall that she can launch an invasion on Cloudtopolis for "copying the name of Necropolis."

Backstory: Over the millennia, The Mummy Pharaoh has had numerous individuals serve as her personal bodyguard and right-hand minion. Sebek is merely the latest in a long line. He is, however, unique in that he is a reanimated monster rather than a human. Specifically, he is a tauric beast with a humanoid lower half and a crocodile upper half. None know how The Mummy Pharaoh was able to create an undead of anything other than a human, but she is certainly keeping that a secret.
Character Name: The Eternal Queen, Lliarrella the Fair

Personality: Lliarrella the Fair, despite her name, cares only about the benefit of one person: herself. She is uptight and pretentious and views herself as the most beautiful and talented being on all of Tournia. She considers herself to be a fair and just ruler and rules with a soft hand, but she does little to benefit her subjects.
Backstory: From the day she was born, Lliarrella was groomed for the throne, and she has been waited on hand and foot since then. She took over ruling the fairy kingdom at a young age when her father was killed participating in the Tournament of Champions, long before she was ever taught how to be a real leader. Since he was the only one ever willing to speak against her when she did something wrong, her incompetent rule has gone completely unchallenged. Of course, most fairies don't care because they don't recognize the government, anyways.

It also has a tendency to nap for decades at a time, which is, perhaps, the only reason it does not win every Tournament of Champions and "only" has a record of 73 wins to 0 losses.
Backstory: The Tarrasque has lived for thousands of years, and not even the ancient Mummy Pharaoh knows from whence it came. It is a monstrous, quadrupedal beast around 30 feet tall and 70 feet long with a ridiculously hard carapace, sharp claws and teeth, and two long horns. It is terrifying sight to behold.

Personality: Slitherakh the Blue is unlike most dragons in that she does not collect treasure. She makes her home in an underwater cave where metals would just rust. Talents:
Petrifying Breath: 6
Mind Control: 4

Equipment: A statuary garden filled with petrified victims, a giant treasure hoard

Equipment: An conjurer spellbook, a giant treasure hoard
Personality: Zarthexiok the White is the kind of dragon who doesn't like to get his claws dirty. He spends all day resting atop his hoard, summoning underlings to do his work for him. As a result, he doesn't eat very well and is rather malnourished, but he refuses to do anything for himself.

Stats:
Offense:
8
Defense: 10
Speed: 2
Special: 4

Talents:
Shadow Breath: 6
Teleportation: 4

Equipment: The crown jewels of the High King, a humongous treasure hoard
Personality: Xioterak the Black is greedy even by dragon standards. She travels far and wide in search of the most valuable treasures around, and has even risked her life on more than one occasion to get a shiny bauble or two. She even assaulted the castle of the High King and stole the crown jewels many generations ago, a crime that the humans have not forgotten.

Character Name: Hydraxis the Brown
Faction: Dragon
Gender: Male

Stats:
Offense:
8
Defense: 10
Speed: 2
Special: 0

Talents:
Regeneration: 5

Equipment: A tiny treasure hoard
Personality: Hydraxis the Brown is the only member of the Council of Dragons that is not a "true" dragon, instead being a twelve-headed hydra. He earned his place on the Council by killing the last member, but he is constantly snubbed by the others. As a result, he has a very fragile ego and always feels the need to prove himself.

Gender: Male

Stats:
Offense:
10
Defense: 8
Speed: 4
Special: 2

Talents:
Intimidation: 6
Tracking: 6
Magic Resistance: 3

Equipment: N/A
Personality: King Rex is just an animal. He is a big and terrifying animal, but he's still just an animal. His only concerns are eating, sleeping, and protecting his territory from threats.
Backstory: King Rex reached maturity around fifteen years ago and quickly drove out the competition from his piece of dinosaur island. Since his territory is so near the shore, he often comes into conflict with humans and other invaders seeking to exploit the land's riches. He has been an absolute nightmare to others for his entire life.
Character Name: Archangel Nathaniel
Faction: Angels
Gender: Male

Stats:
Offense:
4
Defense: 4
Speed: 8
Special: 8

Talents:
Beautiful: 6
Spear Combat: 6
Stick-in-the-Ass: 6

Equipment: The Holy Lance of Glorious Heavenly Light, a bleached white toga that barely conceals anything, a fancy headdress of gold and silver, a suspiciously large mirror, stacks of of porn
Personality: Archangel Nathaniel considers himself to be the most perfect and gorgeous being in all of creation. He is an incredibly haughty and uptight individual who believes that everyone needs to act exactly like him. He strongly enforces the laws of Cloudtopolis with a steel-tight grip, declaring that rules and order are the only thing separating glorious angels from the beasts and monsters below.
Backstory: Centuries ago, Nathaniel appeared fully-formed from the aether like all angels do. He came into existence mere moments after the previous Archangel died in the Tournament of Champions and was immediately named the new Archangel as that was why he had been formed. Since then, he's lead the angels down an even stricter path than they had ever traversed before. Some wonder if, perhaps, he is being too restrictive, but none dare question his rulership.
Character Name: Tyrinna Bone-Nasher
Faction: Demons
Gender: Female

Stats:
Offense:
8
Defense: 4
Speed: 4
Special: 8

Talents:
Martial Arts: 6
Pyrokinesis: 6
Summoning: 2

Equipment: The Cursed Hammer of Eternal Damnation, black armor with way too many spikes, a collection of cute little dolls that NO ONE MUST EVER SEE
Personality: Tyrinna Bone-Nasher is like most demons and sadistically revels in violence and bloodshed. She rules by right of strength and must constantly maintain that position through force of arms. She isn't so much a leader as she is a successful warlord.
Backstory: Nearly 200 years ago, Tyrinna popped out of the ground and straight into bloody conflict. She survived through her strength and her guile and slowly built up a reasonably stable power base. Eventually, she became powerful enough to attain prominence. Of course, that mostly just leaves her with a bigger target on her back, but she's managed to survive this long.

4
Defense: 8
Speed: 4

Stats:
Offense:
4
Defense: 8
Speed: 4
Special: 8

Talents:
Earth Control: 6

Character Name: Daa, the Elder Plant
Faction: Elementals
Gender: N/A

Stats:
Offense:
4
Defense: 8
Speed: 4
Special: 8

Talents:

Speed: 4
Special: 8

Talents:

Character Name: Vuul, the Elder Water
Faction: Elementals
Gender: N/A

Stats:
Offense:
4
Defense: 8
Speed: 4
Special: 8

Talents:
Water Control: 6

Equipment: N/A
Personality: Vuul is the oldest water elemental and flows through the ocean. It usually attacks passing boats, especially the ones that wander too far from shore. It has also been known to attack Champion Colusseum from time to time.
Character Name: Lord Slimey
Faction: Oozes
Gender: N/A

Stats:
Offense:
4
Defense: 4
Speed: 12
Special: 4

Talents:
Acidic Body: 6
Regeneration: 6
Sense of Direction: 0

Equipment: A totally pimpin' crown
Personality: There is little to distinguish Lord Slimey from any other ooze other than its larger than average size and, of course, its totally pimpin' crown that somehow sits atop its...body without falling off or sinking in.
Backstory: None know from whence Lord Slimey came or even the origins of its crown. It's existed for at least a few hundred years, and it somehow finds its way onto every continent sooner or later. What's interesting, though, is that Lord Slimey can't seem to stay dead for long. There have been many who've claimed to kill it, and many even keep the crown as proof. However, Lord Slimey always seems to come back sporting a new, yet identical, crown.
Character Name: CCA-0001, "C1"

Backstory: C1 was created 1,000 years ago at the same time that Champion Colusseum was built. It has served as a commentator since then.

Character Name: CCA-0002, "C2"
Faction: Mechana
Gender: N/A, feminine voice

Stats:
Offense:
8
Defense: 8
Speed: 8
Special: 0

Talents:

Backstory: C2 was created 1,000 years ago at the same time that Champion Colusseum was built. It has served as a commentator since then.

It's like in Pokémon where ghost types are super-effective against ghost types and, thus, also weak to ghost types. I mean, technically that more accurately describes mechana, but it's the same sort of principle. Everything is good at killing oozes, and oozes are good at killing everything. They're the glass cannons of the world.

Character Name: Cultural Exploration Drone and Reconnaissance Information Cataloger (Or Cedric as it has been dubbed by the fleshies)
Faction: Mechana
Gender: N/A.

Stats:
Offense:
6
Defense: 6
Speed: 4
Special: 0

Talents:
Fluent in several species languages-2
Typical strength of its species-1
Above average intelligence-2
Expertise is mechanical repair-1

Equipment: Itself.
Personality: Extremely robotic. Speaks like someone taking notes for a school project. Dismissive of most anyone trying to speak to it.
Backstory: Far above the land dwellers, a small Mechana cube has been working on something unique. Which is anathema to their entire thought process. A one-of-a-kind drone to be sent down among those beneath their attention. This drone has been dubbed the Cultural Exploration Drone and Reconnaissance Information Cataloger. Its function to mingle with and observe the organic races. Why is still a mystery. Maybe It's a harbinger of invasion. Observing them for defensive purposes. Simply a by-product of a defective cube. Whatever the case, Cedric will soon find itself wrapped up in a multi-species combat tournament. A perfect spot for gathering data.

You didn't spend any of your talent points. Was that intentional? Either way, accepted.

------

Also, I have updated the second post with some more information about the world. Currently, I have detailed the lands of the seven mortal races, but I plan to do the rest later.

Character Name: Elsa Rothman
Faction: Undead
Gender: Female

Stats:
Offense: 4

Defense: 7
Speed: 3
Special: 2

Talents:
Martial Arts : 3
Tactician : 1

Equipment: A dagger. Herself.
Personality: Friendly and flirtatious despite her...less-than-good undead appearance.
Backstory: She only remembered some details of her alive status in the past. She was a maid in a tavern, who fell in love with a local mercenary. And that the mercenary was some kind of jealous one, who killed her when he thought she cheated with someone else...obviously. She remembered how she was dumped to a wasteland. And that she was revived as an undead. Or reborn as an undead. She later walked the wastes, regained her intelligence as well. Perhaps even more than she used to when she's alive. She learned how to defend herself. But she got jealousy from another undead who didn't like her, and duped her into joining a multi-combat species tournament.

Oh well, it could be worse.

That seems even more pointless to spend talent points on, especially when you're playing a character that doesn't even eat. :/

Character Name: Lothran Corronis, celestial emperor of the Undying realms and all associated territories
Faction: undead
Gender: male

Stats:
Offense:
4
Defense:6
Speed:2
Special:4

Talents:
Investigative observation - 1 - basically Lothran can conjure up something similar to Sherlock Holme's mind palace.

Necromancy - 1 - a fairly important skill for someone who claims to be emperor of the undead and also one that Lothran has also just begun dabbling in due to his distaste for the undead.

Slight of hand - 2 - Lothran has a particular skill for misdirection that he often used with cards, this can be used for excellent card tricks however it is more often used for more nefarious card related purposes

Equipment:
×1 old slightly broken crown
×1 ever so slightly tattered set of royal clothes
×1 rusty set of armour
×2 trusty daggers
×1 not so trusty broadsword
×6 dragonbone dice
×1 set of cards, ever so slightly tampered with
×200 bronze coins, so old they're not even valuable
Personality: In life Lothran was a smug, arrogant smartass who was so confident that his own objective opinion on the world was correct that he'd alienate his entire family just to prove it to them, one thing you could say for the man was that he was certainly ambitious, he'd do whatever he could to climb above the position he was born into. Upon death and subsequent reanimation the smugness and aroggance was replaced by a large amount of bitterness and envy, his ambition is still there although now it is directed at desperately trying to gain back his life. One positive thing that came out of his death is that Lothran has been somewhat humbled and is no longer supremely confident, instead he is awfully suspicious and cynical of everything around him.
Backstory: Lothran was born in the Human realms, in the kingdom of Gothrad which meant unfortunately for Lothran he was born into the peasantry which tends to have a low life expectancy and awful pay, not to mention the incredibly low chance of promotion. Even despite Lothran's excellent observational and investigative skills he was still unable to rise above his post forcing him to wallow in rural misery. Then Lothran in a fortunate day down at the pub, Lothran found his skills could be used to excellent effect when playing a dubious game of cards. Soon Lothran began betting against everyone in his town and once most people there had been swindled out of their money he moved onto the next town and the next town. Eventually his name became both reveared and revilled due to the horrendous amount of wealth he managed to acquire through his skills of misdirection, yet not all good things can last as Lothran was to be challenged by king Gregory the wicked, the self proclaimed king of cards. The game appeared to be going well for Lothran and the king seemed to be oblivious to Lothran's deception, yet just as victory was certain the king called Lothran out, his throat was slot and body dumped out in the wastes .

When Lothran's body came back as an undead his rotting mind was filled with fear, the huge shambling hordes, the desolate bleak landscapes, the dark necropolis on the horizon. This fear however was soon followed up by boredom, the hordes never bothered him and weren't really talkers, the desolate landscapes were extraordinarily barren and reinforced the idea that Lothran was eternally alone and finally the dark necropolis, after a few visits , turned out to only be filled with a haunt of melancholy aristocrats and an apathetic pharaoh. For a few centuries Lothran moped about the wastes and the necropolis attempting to teach zombies how to play cards, uniform finally he reached his breaking point, he would march into the wasteland and form his own undead realm of intellectuals who knew how to play a bloody game of cards. Of course he found only about 9 zombies who had minds and had a basic idea of how to play cards to make up his imperial court and a whole bunch of mindless zombies who just mill about outside the walls of his fortress. Lothran realised the only way to build up a stable card playing community was to imbue his hordes with intelligence and the only way to possibly gain such an item was to win it at the tournament, after much confusion over the bureaucracy of the tournament Lothran finally managed to sign up and fight in the name of a decent game of cards.

Love the motivation. :p
However, you have six talent point, and you're only allowed four. Fix that, and you'll be accepted.
