2139 SEASON

SEASONAL NOTES
- The season brought major changes in an effort to create interest towards the sagging Hinodejin Basketball League, thus introducing a single tier system where teams were allocated geographically. This did bring some problems, however, as the Comet Division saw teams playing out of the former lands of Africa but also Europe... which meant that the Reishima Drakkar would have to face a near fifteen-hour-and-quarter air trip to face the Kibominami Chiefs at the Cape of Good Hope.
- The Sunrise Division happened to be a funny coincidence. The result of a large number of Somei-Yoshino based teams, this division featured six teams playing at the same state, a clear inverse of what happened at the Comet Division. It also thrived at the well know rivalries of the state, such as the Thunder against the Lights, the Wolves against the Cavaliers and the Sylveons against the Bullets.
- A rivalry that faltered, however, was the storied Islanders vs. Déesses duel as both ended up only facing each other twice throughout the season, due to both not being in the same division. Even then, the Déesses have been lagging behind lately, due to age or just lack of interest of some of the team's key players...
- ...Mugenishima, on the other hand, blasted the league up and down, clinching title number three. Didn't really need to change their logo to a black and red volcano thing though.

2139 SEASON

SEASONAL NOTES
- The Furiki Hearts' ownership problems were finally solved as they were acquired by local movie producer Edwin van IJsselmeervogel, responsible for several horror movie franchises, the most famous one being the Frisian Zombie set of movies. Fittingly, he said, "The Damned Frisians are now getting a Damned Frisian owner". He also renamed the team the Frisian Zombies, figuring the synergy would help.
- In a bit of irony, the Saishu Stallions, one of the league's oldest teams decided to rename themselves as the Saishu Stags, after a poll for locals said that they thought the Stallion name was just too similar to what the Sudachi Knights have for a logo. Due to this, Sally the Stallion was dropped in favour of a logo featuring a fierce stag staring daggers at the opponents. A new colour combo was introduced as well.
- Additionally, pretty much every single team did some changes to their looks and images. This goes along with the Hinodejin Hockey Championship's own rebrand, the idea here is that the Hinodejin hockey game should look towards getting new fans outside of the Empire. That said, many teams used this as an opportunity to look outside of the box, such as the Sora Blades turning away from their originally somewhat complex logo to a more futuristic version and a new colour combo to differ from the Maniwa Suns. The Gears went from blue and orange to grey and neon green, the Wildcats now have a more vibrant version of their blue and red, the Racers added copper and black to their original red and white, the Sharks went full teal, the Kanshiro Dragons brought back the light blue, the Whalers went full green and white and the Comets, at the behest of some graphic artist out of Equestrian States, went with purple and light blue. The only teams that didn't make any major changes were the Ainus and the Blues, both only making very small tweaks to their images.

2140 YOUTH LEAGUE PREVIEW

YOUTH FOOTBALL
Hungry Hungry Wolves, Proud Proud Zeppelins - Hinodejin Youth Football Preview
Article written by Miishima Polytechnical HS students Shigeru Watanabe, Momotaro Ideyaki and Hideyoshi Izakoi

Welcome to another season of Hinodejin Youth Football! I'm Shigeru Watanabe, now joined by two fellow interns and Miishima Poly students in Momotaro Ideyaki and Hideyoshi Izakoi. We'll do our best to cover the upcoming season with a bit more of substance so that all of you can follow pretty well what's going to happen this season.

Image
ALOHA HEIWASHIMA
Honoshima, Heiwashima
Titles:
None
Top Player: Jefferson Sanabria (CM, AUD, 19 y/o)
Names to Watch: Aloha (ST, DAI, 20 y/o), Hanae Kobayashi (RM, HIN, 17 y/o), Choe Il-Seong (OM, HIN, 15 y/o)
While tradition is Aloha Heiwashima's major point of relevance, the team hasn't impressed in any season of the AHYFL. In fact, the team's most recent season was spent battling to return to the top tier, which they did in a fair fashion, although the lack of flair meant the team only really reached the third place. Still, the oldest youth football team of the Empire returns to the top tier with a couple of fresh faces.
Jefferson Sanabria isn't a fresh face in the slightest, however, literally inheriting the position of team leader after both Kasumi Hitomi and Maryuu Nitta left for opportunities at the University level. Even so, the Audioslavian player remains a major player in the middle of the pitch, albeit doubts that he'll be able to keep the team in the top tier will float around his head throughout the season.
Aloha is a fellow remaining piece from previous seasons, a prospect that hasn't quite shaped herself yet, something slightly common with foreigners that played for Aloha Heiwashima, but there's still one year left for the Daineri to prove herself.
Hanae Kobayashi joined the team at their second season at the league, but sadly can't really stand out, doesn't help that she plays in a midfield that seems to have all the good possible options of the team at the same time. Still, she's the better Kobayashi when compared to her sister Airi.
The team's lack of success in the last transfer windows, as opposed to some of their competition, meant Aloha Heiwashima had to look inside for prospects. While they certainly didn't find the one key player they needed the most, Joseon import Choe Il-Seong has a fair lot of promise and could form a one-two punch with Aloha in her last season, given how he plays offensive midfielder. So far, he's the first promising prospect the team from Heiwashima takes on, so he's already done something right.

BOLT TRAVELLING
Po, Burakuriri
Titles:
None
Top Player: Abbas Buchan (ST, EFL, 20 y/o)
Names to Watch: Patrik Štefan (OM, HIN, 15 y/o), Arata Yamaguchi (GK, HIN, 17 y/o), Sonsaku Yamada (CM, HIN, 15 y/o)
The sole debuting side of the season at the top tier, Bolt Travelling's lineage of football is larger than you'd expect. This team is actually the third version of the club, having been originally formed for travelling agents and scouts in the early Imperial era, a team that would later be a KiHi-LEAGUE 2 founding member as Kokohi Skullomania. The current club was formed not too long after the idea of a youth football league, although an amateur team of the same remains at the amateur state levels of the game.
It's no exaggeration that the team's promotion is all thanks to Abbas Buchan, a striker from Eastfield Lodge that had been weathering the lower leagues of Hinodejin youth football until finally finding the top tier. This poacher of a player made some waves at Division 1, being a top striker contender in both of his seasons there. Although his swansong is close, the striker could at least proudly say he played at the top tier once.
Arata Yamaguchi is a somewhat promising goalkeeper for the Bolt Travelling outfit but it's clear he's not as good as he was expected to be, the notorious dressing down by an undermanned Project Olimpo two seasons ago still stinging and a slightly less notorious loss to minnows Raimon Frontier HS in last season's (apparently unreported) Youth Cup meant that there are way more doubts about him than there were when he first joined. Still, the goalkeeper is dead set on changing that this season.
Patrik Štefan is a very proud find of the middling Bolt Travelling scout team, a young and fairly undersized offensive mid straight out of Bohemia. That said, what he lacks in size, he makes up for in speed and deviousness, a true daredevil in the field with very little care for opponents. According to himself, he plans to make defenders have nightmares of a blond devil night in, night out.

CHAOLAN ZAIBATSU
Hiun, Kameria
Titles:
2139 Youth Cup
Top Player: Maria Reyes (RB/CB, HIN, 20 y/o)
Names to Watch: Kamala Khan (CM/OM/SS, HIN, 16 y/o), Talitha (DF, DAI, 20 y/o), Chinatsu Kurosawa (CB, HIN, 15 y/o)
Chaolan Zaibatsu has the dubious honour of possibly being one of the most confusing teams of the league, by virtue of their often irregular performances. Last season was another on a long line of examples as the team's silent finish in the fifteenth place meant that they had once again survived the drop... meanwhile Kamala Khan was turning out fantastic performances at the Youth Cup, the team's first piece of silverware ever since Zaibatsu leader Lee Chaolan turned this footballing institution into a youth football endeavour.
Albeit a bit player at Senso-Shukujo Ladies HS, Maria Reys sudden growth burst meant she found herself out of the school, playing for Chaolan Zaibatsu, who took her in at the first chance they had. Given her nature, this is probably her last season at the Empire, a good chance for her to impress some major teams outside of the country for the upcoming window.
Kamala Khan was a mere nobody at the start of the season, having been brought in during a scouting session near a Goblin village back at the Indies, to the role of the Unicorns' most probable stalwart, albeit her limited number of games end up raising some eyebrows over whether she's good or not. Even then, should Kamala be used properly, this could be her season.
Talitha, one of the few Daineris still in the youth leagues, was brought in to give Chaolan Zaibatsu much needed defensive strength. This really didn't happen, with Talitha proving to be a bigger threat as a sort of improvised offensive player, including scoring her first goal at the league against eventual champions Mashu Elite HS.
Chinatsu Kurosawa, on the other hand, comes in to fill the role Talitha failed to properly fit, an actual defender in the Unicorns with enough brains, something quite lacking in another regular defender, Phirun Chey. Although not a fan of the pressure, Kurosawa shows a surprising amount of tact and care for the game, something... slightly unusual in the Chaolan camp.

GERUDO TRADING COMPANY FC
Mui, Tentai
Titles:
None
Top Player: Narus Aldebaaran (ST, HIN, 17 y/o)
Names to Watch: Aruyu Furishi (CM/OM, HIN, 20 y/o), Aegoomi Uraetusouri (RB/CB, HIN, 16 y/o), Tesoalu Uraetusouri (LB/CB, HIN, 16 y/o)
While top-tier regulars, the Gerudo Trading Company (or Getruco) has never amounted to much beyond rather pedestrian 10th places almost all the time. That said, it's kind of surprising that they're such a hard team to play against, although most of the opponents that failed to beat Getruco would often point out that it was all due to a "desire" of impressing Yesopalithan player Linkan Pihanka. That said, the right back no longer is a member of the team, having joined Anatokina for the University season... which means they have since targeted Daineri striker Zakuty instead.
Narus Aldebaaran is clearly the name of this current Getruco line-up, having honed her wit through a couple of seasons of youth football already. The team's captain, currently listed as one of the best up-and-coming Gerudo footballers of all of the nation, has gone on record to note that she does admit that the pressure is a bit off-putting, but she insists that she can handle it, hoping this year to be the year they win a title.
Aruyu Furishi had once committed to joining the Gerudo College at Tentai, which she technically did join, but the college itself refused to have a football program, which meant that Furishi was back at Getruco playing ball when not busy with her academical affairs, a rather common life for many, if not all, players that represent company teams. Still, she serves as the team's most experienced player, so it's clear she's among the most respected members of this team.
The Uraetsouri twins joined the team last season but mysteriously weren't put as starters at any point, mostly because neither were trusted with the wing-back positions, something that was pretty much on the hands (and feet) of Linkan Pihanka. His departure meant both twins now had the opportunity to play together as the new wings of Getruco. The twins aren't very different from each other, their speed being pretty good and their reflexes being not half-bad. Still a lot of room for improvement, but the promise is there.

GET WELL SOON UNITED NAITOGARU NURSERY
Hinode, Somei-Yoshino
Titles:
None
Top Player: Celestina Favelli (MF, OSR, 18 y/o)
Names to Watch: Mautau (MF, HUE, 20 y/o), Mackenzie Flowers (CB, HIN, 17 y/o), Hinata Kitagawa (ST, HIN, 20 y/o)
The Nurses are known for mostly two things, being the side responsible for inspiring one Vasya Kravec to write a best-seller book called "A Guide to Survive Hinodejin Youth Football" and being themselves hard to survive a match against, thanks to their physical, take-no-prisoners style of play that netted many an opponent injuries left and right. Legend has it that this style of play is actually inherited from the origins of this team in amateur football, where they deliberately played a hard type of football in order to learn anatomy and first-aid techniques by applying them to their opponents.
There's not much doubt about who's the best player in this team, Celestina Favelli out of Osarius is a prospect that was just recently brought in to play for the Nurses, yet her training has already displayed something that was pretty much promised to the team, Favelli's space awareness combined with a deadly set of passes that can pretty much put up to gear an offence that has never been much to talk about.
Mautau remains as a slightly underwhelming utility player, though his lack of interest towards the more aggressive and physical style of play that the team employs meant that he was often available for matches, thus solidifying his spot as a regular. Still, there has been some progress in the field as well. This is his final season as a nurse, so here's a chance for him to finally put a fantastic performance.
Mackenzie Flowers was the first non-human to play for the Nurses and has since shown that they made a good choice. Unfortunately for her, last season saw her miss a lot of action due to an injury, something that could really stifle her development, although such results should only be seen in the future. As is, the lass has spent the past months doing extensive training to return to the league in top form.
Hinata Kitagawa, unlike Flowers, was around to play the entire season. A stalwart of the league, miss Kitagawa was once considered to be on the leave to join the University level, only for her admission to be rejected by the association as a whole due to her already noted reputation of a troublemaker. Last season, she broke Zhang Min from the Royal nose. The season before that, she gave current top university level goalkeeper Myozan Namezono a black eye. All that while still being the team's top scorer. Expect more from this team's favourite nut.

HANADA CITY HS
Hanada, Somei-Yoshino
Titles:
None
Top Player: Nina Nishigawa (ST/OM, HIN, 16 y/o)
Names to Watch: Antonio Vergara (FW, OSR, 16 y/o), Garnett Makanza (FW, OSR, 17 y/o), Mariko Saito (CM, HIN, 15 y/o)
Once upon a time, the city of Hanada was mostly known for their focus towards the sea, a fairly good industry formed out of the city's lucky placement, featuring a healthy set of beaches, a port and a Water-type Pokémon gym. These days, the city has enjoyed the surprising good run of the Hanada City High School team, built on top of a very good group of players that joined them in the past few years. Long gone are the days of the Beautiful Sisters, that's for sure.
Unarguably the best player to ever have been born at Hanada, Nina Nishigawa is related to the former Beautiful Sisters' trio that more or less helped relegate the city's high school team from the top tier of the nation. While her sisters flopped massively, Nina Nishigawa was making waves at the under-15 levels of football. Now, those three are playing for Utsukushima University while she's one of the upcoming major names of the league.
Antonio Vergara and Garnett Makanza more or less have the same major role in the team, a foreign talent that was brought in with much hard work and has since been very much helpful in the team's current run at the top tier. Even then, they're quite different as players themselves. Makanza is a goal poacher, having been a massive force up front, except for strength, which she really lacks. This has been complemented by Vergara's more conservative approach, a resilient, ever-lasting player that doesn't shine as a goalscorer but certainly aids the team to properly play. Unfortunately, Makanza is close to her eighteenth birthday, which would mean she'd be free to depart towards the University level.
What the team really lacks to go up are two things: a solid goalkeeper and a good midfielder. Now, while the goalkeeper spot currently has South Toronto-born keeper Timaeus trying out for a proper stay in the team, the midfielder position has a qualified prospect in Mariko Saito. The girl and her brother Shin'ichi joined this season and seem to be both incredibly useful, although only Mariko herself has the speed advantage that teams in the Empire usually need.

KAZAMA ALL-SCHOOLS FC
Kazama, Himawari
Titles:
2136 All-Hinodejin Youth Football League
Top Player: Jun Kazama (DM/CM/OM, HIN, 16 y/o)
Names to Watch: Rina Itou (SM, HIN, 17 y/o), Vivian Celeste (RB/LB/RM, STO, 15 y/o), Yoshirou Nakamura (RM/OM, HIN, 16 y/o)
The first-ever national champion at youth level, the All-Greens came off as a bit of a surprise when they did win, all in the back of promising forward Momoko Ichibonji. Alas, the meltdown from that great season really took its' tow in most of the players, leaving Ichibonji as a shadow of her former self. Things did get better, but the team remains inconsistent... and unfortunately, things aren't looking totally up. The team suffers from an overcrowding issue up front, while remaining lacking on the defence. Then again, their offence is pretty good this season, which means that, should they be able to keep the ball up front, they'll have a good season once again.
Mystery shrouds the player known as Jun Kazama. A polite, well-mannered girl that refused to join Miishima Poly, an enjoyer of the fauna and the flora of Himawari, a student of the game with a lot of passion for hard work. Some wonder if this is another Ichibonji in the making, but unlike the former star, Kazama chose to show kindness instead of cracking under the pressure. Still, with two seasons left at the All-Greens, Kazama could shape up to be a pretty good prospect.
Rina Itou grew on the shadows of Ichibonji during the one season where the two played together. As the latter left, Itou suddenly was pushed towards the spot of Kazama's star. To say that she didn't match it is an understatement, but there's quite some football in her still. A deadly player in the box, her problems are pretty much everywhere else. A bit of a shame that such a high prospect of the team turned out to be not very good in most things. Still, she has one final season at her current team, so maybe she could improve her game in time for the University level crunch.
Vivian Celeste was one of the few foreigners that joined the league this season, moving to a high school near Kazama in order to play for the local team. While not exactly a very promising player, her versatility is what really landed her at Kazama AS. Currently, the team's main issue with her was having the foreigner (born in South Toronto) gel with the local culture, something that's easier said than done. Should that be solved, Celeste would be very useful to the team for her three seasons as an All-Green.
Yoshirou Nakamura has an advantage over the other four or so offensive midfielders the team fields, dropping from two points he had last season, the right midfield now being possibly given to Celeste instead. Nakamura remains a fantastic shot cracker from out of the box, a guy that shoots balls like they were fireworks. The team's official free kick taker, he made plenty of contributions last season and looks towards repeating his feats this time around as well.

KOHEI CHERRY VILLA HS
Kokei, Nekori
Titles:
None
Top Player: Park Jong-Suk (CB, HIN, 17 y/o)
Names to Watch: Chung Il-Seong (OM/CM/ST, HIN, 16 y/o), Jin Ha (LM/RM, HIN, 17 y/o), Jeong Rhee (LM, HIN, 15 y/o)
One of the two Joseon sides of the top tier since the start of the league, the Cherries were the former home team of the nation's current number 1 prospect of the University boards Seong Mi-Na, but also the home of several good players that came out of the Cherries' Integration Project. The latter players are still, in fact, in the Cherries' line-ups, which means they still have a deadly team to go for the trophy this season.
Park Jong-Suk was the best center-back of the nation last season. It helps that his form decided to flare up just as Seong Mi-Na played one of the greatest seasons a seventeen-year-old would ever have at the league so far. Even so, the former Hooligan, the kind of guy that fought with knives and sucker punches remains a very scary figure in the back, great cause of pain and suffering to opposing offensive players. This is his last season at this level, enough reason to see and break a couple more forwards in order to get a good scholarship offer next year.
The Cherries' "Genius of the Middle", Chung Il-Seong proved that his academical achievements were no joke as he flawlessly built up a passing game that helped Seong Mi-Na shine in the field. Once again, Il-Seong returns with the plans of shooting another star to the fold. He took an interest in being the proper lancer to an actual swordmaster, apparently.
Jin Ha is certainly the most uplifting story among all players of the Cherries, a former abuse victim as a kid, she fed out of tuna she found on the street until being taken in by a family of sheepherders before getting enough money to join a local Pokémon training gym. In the end, she was taken in by a family of religious folk that have since been working towards raising her weak self-esteem. All the while her football remains strong. A warrior of the field, Jin Ha was a good reason of last season's results and now she wants to get even better. Opposition beware.
Another former hooligan to join the team is Jeong Rhee, a former pocket-picker that now gets the opportunity to play football for a better future. As of now, this streetwise left midfielder has to go from training to juvenile detention but most do expect her to bring a competitive edge that the team needed with the departure of Seong Mi-Na, even if she's not quite as sympathetic.

KOSHU DRAGON GUARD HS
Koshu, Nishikoku
Titles:
None
Top Player: Gun Nam-Gong (CB/DM/CM, HIN, 17 y/o)
Names to Watch:Jiang Mei (OM, HIN, 16 y/o), Son Seo-Ho (ST, HIN, 17 y/o), Gang Min-Ji (CM, HIN, 15 y/o)
The first ever institution created for the training of Dragontamers, Koshu eventually devolved to become a regular high school, although the sense of heroics that Dragontamers had seemed to remain in their blood. The team had major casualties in the departure of the two Kim brothers, the Talons of Justice that are now playing in the University level, but the real deal has to be this season, where the Original Hooligan line-up depart from this team towards the big Unis.
Gum Nam-Gong remains the massive anchor of the team, the former gang leader remaining a strong and stable captain for the team despite forgoing his old ways in the process. While the road to recovery of this future school legend has been nothing short of amazing, he still lacks that final piece of silverware, something, anything to represent how good this line-up is. For sure, Nam-Gong ain't going out without a hell of a fight.
Jiang Mei is a farm girl from a little town nearby, she was sent to join the school in order to bring her family out of poverty in the future. She has since been made the starter offensive midfielder of the team and now considers well what the future prepares for herself. In the field, she brings resilient, hard football, the sort of stuff you'd get from playing at farm fields since young, surprisingly presenting itself as a massive challenge for anyone playing against her in this more modern game we enjoy.
Son Seo-Ho has been Gum Nam-Gong's friendly sparring rival since the mere age of ten. Unlike his sparring partner, Seo-Ho is a much less serious guy, finding enjoyment in just flowing with the tide. His football isn't much different from that, a flowing style of play that means he often finds himself in front of the goal via simply adapting to whatever holes the defence has. Inside the box, things are a bit different, but still, a pretty effective player that should be into the running for the honour of being the top national prospect, assuming he overperforms Gum Nam-Gong as well.
Gang Min-Ji was an aspiring K-Pop starlet that... well, was kind of horrible as a musician. Recently, her "quest to take over the world" has now looked towards playing football. Surprisingly, she has some real untapped talent that should present itself if given the chance. Way to go, we guess.

LUNA WANDERERS FC
Shintomara, Luna-Saria
Titles:
None
Top Player: Jamie "The Saint" Lynch (CB/DM, HIN, 15 y/o)
Names to Watch: Sophie Meyrink (ST/SS, HIN, 15 y/o), Bopha Keo (ST, HIN, 15 y/o), Dubhghall Donaghue (LM, HIN, 15 y/o)
The Wanderers were once a top team in the league, in the very first season, where they reached an admirable sixth place. Alas, the team was simply undermanned and their star left just as they got relegated, thus ending what seemed like the sole time the Shintomara-based team would ever play at the top tier. However, it was all not over for the Wanderers and foreign talent would bring them back to the first division after all these years. Financial woes meant these foreigners from the Emirates of Futurnia departed back to their homelands before this season, but the remaining pieces that this team fields should make up for it more than enough.
Bare-Knuckle boxing regular, Jamie "The Saint" Lynch currently racks up a record of three wins and no losses at the mere age of fifteen years old. Alas, he decided that football would pay more than battling at shady underground rings, which means that the Luna Wanderers now have one of the finest defensive prospects of the nation, his conditioning and a rather aggressive personality finding itself well at a sport such as in football.
Sophie Meyrink is a mysterious person, apparently having been born in the Sunrise but somehow finding herself alive in the Hinodejin realm at a young age. An adept of cartomancy and all sorts of occult things, she's very capable at the front of the field, though preferred to serve as a second striker since the team already has a very good striker on her own.
Bopha Keo is a striker prospect from the Indies, known for her powerful kicks, a result of training in Taekwondo, but also for apparently kicking coconuts, somehow. The girl joined after being skipped by Senso-Shukujo, resulting in a major coup by the Wanderers, guaranteeing they'd have a young one-two punch for the next seasons.
A playmaker out of former Ireland, Dubhghall Donaghue is from a family of former aristocrats that have since become businessman from the isles, a football career is more of a dream hobby to him, instead of actual occupation. It's worrisome to the team if he'll properly commit to the sport or not, but he does have the potential to play.

MASHU ELITE HS
Mashu, Somei-Yoshino
Titles:
2138 All-Hinodejin Youth Football League
Top Player: Imui Akimenagi (SS, HIN, 17 y/o)
Names to Watch: Luther Fox (MF, OSR, 16 y/o), Yu He (RM, HIN, 16 y/o), Taichi Kobayashi (CB, HIN, 15 y/o)
One of the few national champions, the Elite will always be remembered for their Elite Five line-up, all of which went on to start at the University level for different teams after earning the nation's top youth title. This is all due to location, the team being one of the few major schools from the city of Mashu, a breeding ground for sports folk, especially footballers. Even these days, Mashu Elite remains a top recruiting side, bringing up talent not only from the Empire but outside as well. Always a favourite to win the titles.
A member of last season's Best XI, Imui Akimenagi prepares for her last season as a member of the hallowed high school with the knowledge of being one of the best Gerudos in the sport. She's quick, strong, smart and a rather good knowledge of curved shots, although lacking on the defensive side of affairs, not to mention struggling with direct shots, somehow. Still, Akimenagi aims to do what the Elite Five did when she was in their first season at the school, winning the league again.
Luther Fox is one of the five Osarians currently playing in the top tier of the country, possibly the best one of the bunch. So far, he's well on track to actually surpass Date Nagasaki, whom he was brought in to replace at the Mashu side, providing a solid midfield effort that allows Teku Santen and Makoto Honda to play around him.
Yu He has been a tale of wonder and awe, a shock when you consider that he was skipped by the Royal Theater Preparatory at the mere age of 13, causing this former kid TV star to move towards playing football. This meant that he went through a quest to become a footballer of considerable skill, spending money, time and effort towards this goal. His school is currently reaping the results, netting an agile right midfielder that packs quite a punch when in the offence, not to mention solid passes all across the field.
Taichi Kobayashi has to be this season's major prospect for Mashu, a defensive wizard at the mere age of fifteen, a local kid that had dreamed of playing for them. A dream that will be fulfilled this season where both Taichi and Elite hope to find their defensive anchor for the next three years.

MIISHIMA POLYTECHNICAL HS
Miishima, Himawari
Titles:
2138 All-Hinodejin Youth Football Division 1
Top Player: Élodie Proux (CF, THU, 16 y/o)
Names to Watch: Emeka Okore (DEF, OSR, 17 y/o), Sakura Kasugano (CM, HIN, 16 y/o), Heishiro Mitsurugi (LW/LM, HIN, 15 y/o)
While not really considered a big fish in football, Miishima Poly's sports department has been a powerhouse in the arts, crafts and punches. Recently, however, the Gears have been investing towards football in a bid for prestige at the national level, which they have since pointed to new headmaster Heihachi Mishima's special training sessions. Getting in some key talent has also helped the Himawari institution.
The main player in the Gears' squadron has to be foreign star Élodie Proux, one of the few players of the league with international call-up status, she represented her homeland Thunisia at the IAC and also managed to score two goals for the nation. She has also been pretty impressive for the team, scoring eight goals out of the team's fifty. A very opportunistic poacher by nature should be good if given the time to play.
Osarian prospect Emeka Okore has also been putting some serious work, holding the team's defensive section in decent shape, despite the actual lack of other good defenders, although things might better with the addition of Hwang Seong-Gyeong to the fold.
The school's sweetheart has to be Sakura Kasugano, a mild-mannered girl interested in sportsmanship over wins or losses, currently in the second year at Miishima Poly. While not exactly the greatest player according to Heihachi, this girl is the team's face as far as popularity goes, something slightly shocking considering she isn't much in the actual sport.
A lot of hype was built around newbie Heishiro Mitsurugi. A part-time Kendo practitioner, he's been fashioned as a swordsman in the school's media ads. As far as football goes, however, Mitsurugi is a speedy fellow, resilient and with a lot of punch hidden in his mild-mannered looks. Only time will tell if he's good enough to help the Gears.

MISUTIKKU-ISEKI DIAMOND MINERS
Misutikku-Iseki, Kameria
Titles:
2137 All-Hinodejin Youth Access Division 1C
Top Player: Mukuro Hogo (CM/SS, HIN, 17 y/o)
Names to Watch: Janelle Brembes-Barrel (LW, EFL, 20 y/o), Raizen Saikyomono (RM/ST, HIN, 17 y/o), Yomi Yurushi (LM/OM, HIN, 17 y/o)
One of the first teams to be promoted to the top tier, known for their Demon trio that has been key to the team's survival at the top tier of the nation, the Diamond Miners will officially play their first season in a new venue by the Shigoku mine, offering cheap tickets for their biggest fans, the actual miners. Albeit not having a great season last year, the Miners have nurtured some solid talent in the back, albeit some doubt that the team will perform any better at the defence since Thimiscles Seanclair departed them to join a University side, the Yesopalithan keeper was already showing signs of regress back then. A season of questions for a team that still has the luxury of keeping their stars for a little longer (since the team itself is a sponsored side), although that requires them being able to convince said talents to stay.
Mukuro Hogo was last season's key player at the Miners since Seanclair wasn't exactly in the best of shapes. Albeit very few people have actually seen her face (most noting that it's all much-burnt skin under all those wrappings), her football is identifiable from miles away. It's the player dishing out just as much corporal punishment at encounters as she takes them, usually taking the ball as well. Shame that was mostly what she did last time around, not contributing to the scores, but still, a solid player with some upside for this season.
From Eastfield Lodge, Janelle Brembes-Barrel has been respectable for the Miners, scoring every now and then, although not to the levels of the more notorious forwards in the league. Still, the foreigner has been very handy, with a knack for the opportunity that has made her very important to the Miners. This is shaping to be her final season at the league, as she reaches the age of 21 next season, hoping to get a piece of silverware at last.
Although a nearly blind footballer isn't the sort of player ideal to a football team, it boggles the mind that Yomi Yurushi not only remains a major player of this team, but it's also one of the team's key players, one of the three Devils with a surprising sense of direction given his current situation. An eye surgery last season didn't provide much of a change, unfortunately, and there have been rumours that he might need to go under cybernetic implantation in order to properly see again, but the entire ordeal would be taxing and expensive, so he remains blind as a mole, yet tricky as... well, a good football player, I guess?

PROJECT OLIMPO JUTSII
Athena, Jutsii
Titles:
2137 All-Hinodejin Youth Football League, 2138 Hinodejin Youth Cup
Top Player: Athena Inagusame (ST, HIN, 18 y/o)
Names to Watch: Elfon-Nalet Pec (CM, QUS, 18 y/o), Jimmy McCarthy (ST, NWK, 19 y/o), Ben Jones (CB, AUD, 20 y/o)
It's not hard to see why some like to believe that Project Olimpo has really fallen out of focus on the past few seasons, thanks to how good some of the other youth league teams have become lately. Even then, the team has a fairly respectable sense of durability and consistency, keeping their squad pretty much the same for a while. A lack of mobility, however, might be hindering the team lately.
Athena Inagusame is still the best Hinodejin talent and arguably, the best player of the team. Known for a good shot and her leadership skills, Inagusame also has international experience and has been with the team since the start, which makes her a key player for both skill and sentimental reasons for the team's staff.
Elfon-Nalet Pec is actually a recent signing, coming from the land of Qusmo, home of... well, a unique pattern of naming, but also a unique brand of football. Pec could be the sensation this team needs as long as... uh... he/she/them performs as one should at Project Olimpo.
Jimmy McCarthy came as a last minute signing a couple of seasons ago. The Kalactinian, however, has since turned into one of the most likeable and surprisingly useful players among all, a versatile player that gives his all at any opportunities, which means he has since been very much helpful to Olimpo's last seasons.
Ben Jones is the team's rock, a solid defender that has been overlooked in his home nation and had to resort to a reality show to get a shot outside of the country. Olimpo remains pretty happy over his signing.

SARIA GREENS FC
Saria, Luna-Saria
Titles:
2139 All-Hinodejin Youth Football League Division 1
Top Player: Tambaru Matsuda (LB/OM, HIN, 17 y/o)
Names to Watch: Kako Langull (CM, HIN, 15 y/o), Lubna Deane (OM, HIN, 20 y/o), Iroha Irei (GK, HIN, 17 y/o)
The Hylians from Luna-Saria, back to the top tier after a single season out in the darkness of Division 1, where they thrived, winning themselves their first title and, possibly because of this, netting some good prospects for the comeback season. It's hard to be certain over whether the Greens will be even in the middle of the pack, as Hylians aren't exactly known for their footballing skills in the youth level, but there is some sincere hope at Saria this season.
Tambaru Matsuda was a member of the Kokiri Generation 1, four players that snubbed Project Olimpo in order to represent the green-and-white and the Hylian race as a whole. So far, Matsuda is the main standout player among those four, now the team's captain after Cianne Wu left this level. Matsuda managed to get a total of twenty-seven assists last season, which really tells of how good of a coadjuvant he can be, although that has yet to be seen in such a level as the top tier. The lack of an outstanding striker also hurt him in the past, with current main striker Dussink Aros not being much better than the Yesopalithan from the past few seasons.
Kako Langull was brought in with promises of glory and renown, which was helped by the team's title victory last season. There's a lot of raw potential in this young Hylian out of the former Holy Roman Empire, but the main problem with him is his lack of proper features. He's expected to be a playmaker, however, so teams should be very much aware of him.
One of the many foreigners in the league, Lubna Deane now takes the position of being the most experienced player of the team. Although not the offensive midfielder the team expected her to be, she's still remembered for her screamer out of the box against the Mallcats from Beibei Shopping Mall's Nekojin YFC at the Third Round of the first Youth Cup and her goal after taking out three defenders from minnows The Foremost World-Renowned International School of Lucha at last season's Youth Cup... which kind of makes her a great Cup player, apparently.
Iroha Irei was also a member of that Kokiri Generation 1, more or less the other player that sort of showed any progress after her debut season. Last season, Irei was the best keeper at Division 1, working hard to grant her team the second best defence of that tier. Although most know that there will be a drop between her form last season and her form now, due to the level of opposition, there's some chance that she'll remain a solid keeper at the top tier.

SENSO-SHUKUJO LADIES HS
Senso-Shukujo, Tsutsuji
Titles:
None
Top Player: Kohina Ichimatsu (RB/CB, HIN, 15 y/o)
Names to Watch: Anhalla Valia wa Malla (OM/ST, HIN, 15 y/o), Chikako Mori (CM, HIN, 16 y/o), Kang Min-Seo (OM, HIN, 17 y/o)
The tale of how the Senso-Shukujo Ladies High School, a powerhouse of basketball, remains at the top tier despite being usually the sick granny of the bunch is astoundingly still here. Players have gone and went but the team remains barely alive at the top tier, every now and then showing signs of life. A good sign, however, is that the team actually has some good players this time around that seem to be more than willing to turn the school's image around, not to mention that the school has gained a lot of diplomatic value thanks to one of their newcomers.
The apparently soulless Kohina was a surprise pick that was apparently brought in the last hours of the pre-season. A name of mystery besides her apparent takedown of an entire team going after her. The largest prospect the school ever had.
Possibly the longest name of any player on the top tier, Anhalla Valia wa Malla is a Canvasian, making this the first time where a player from another planet gets to play at the Hinodejin youth top tier. Her athletic acumen remains to be seen, however, but... well, she's at least a novelty player.
One of the two Mori sisters, Chikako edges her sister Tomiko due to her ease to build up plays, something her twin really lacks. Another prospect at work, she still has a lot of upsides to build up over, but the window is still somewhat lax for her still.
Kang Min-Seo is one of the team's most experienced players, but also one of the team's proper stars, known for her actual dribbling skills but also for her scoring prowess, although the fact she plays for Senso-Shukujo might have shimmied up her chances of being a star at this point of her career. If there's a season for her to properly become that star, this is it.

SO-NYA NEKOJIN ACADEMY
Sonyan-kon, Minakoku
Titles:
2137 All-Hinodejin Youth Access Division 1A
Top Player: Uriko Nonomura (ST, HIN, 17 y/o)
Names to Watch: Thamniaunzi Ishizaki (LB, HIN, 16 y/o), Hana Matsuoka (GK, HIN, 16 y/o), Taji Mishida (CM, HIN, 17 y/o)
Deemed the main Nekojin Academy of Football, So-Nya surprised many by achieving an 8th place finish, something rather good for a team that we forgot to add to the preview (sorry about that, by the way). Given the league's nature, it's hard to really predict where they'll end up, but the team really will live and die by their top player, something that usually isn't good.
Uriko Nonomura almost joined Zeppelin Foundation like her two good friends Bakuryu Nobutatsu and Yugo Ogami. Alas, it wasn't meant to be, the girl joined the Nekojin Academy instead and has since reached a point where she's clearly the best player of this squad. Unfortunately for her plans of leaving the team to join a University, Minaduki University isn't at the top tier this season and will probably face an uphill battle to do so, which means she'll probably have to join a regular University instead. Even then, the Academy has promised that they'll try their best to keep the Zoanthrope at the all-pink outfit next season.
Thamniaunzi Ishizaki performs a unique role in the team, the offensive wing back, often feeding chances to the team's strikers. It tells a lot that she was the sole player of the Academy to be chosen for last season's Best Eleven. Once again, she gets to connect with Nonomura, but now with the additional option of the upcoming Kaede Shimura, which means the team's offence will be at least a bit stronger this season.
Voted by the fans as the best player last season, Hana Matsuoka shockingly remains away from national team level, but still remains as one of the top tier's best keepers, a good message towards all Nekojin with the dream of becoming key footballers. It helps that she brought back Mellody Sioux's legendary tail saves with her once she became the team's starter keeper last season.
Taji Mishida is the shadow midfielder of the Nekojin Academy, albeit she has been working hard into also being the team's long shooter, which led to some impressive videos of her shots being turned into a weapon live. Unfortunately, it lacks direction, which was noticed once she broke the first two cameras used to record her on the process of taking free kicks.

TOADSTOOL ENTERPRISES
Kinokomura, Kameria
Titles:
None
Top Player: Muahytahu (DF, HUE, 20 y/o)
Names to Watch: Logan Goff (DM/LM, AUD, 17 y/o), Kimi Ishtari (OM, HIN, 16 y/o), Michi Ikeda (CB, HIN, 15 y/o)
The term "mercenary" has been a regular thing in the Hinodejin youth level since the Empire allowed foreigners to play inside the Empire, the phenomenon where outsiders would be paid slightly more than Hinodejin talent to defend sponsored teams without the risk of them joining Universities at the age of 18. The success rate of this has been questionable, although last season showed this philosophy's apex when Zeppelin Foundation won the title on the backs of a team built with this sort of style, although local talent was also there. Toadstool Enterprises, comparably a smaller fish in the pond, also saw some success, netting themselves a fourth place, when a squad built on Futurnian culture with the eventual Hinodejin at the sides played the finest ball the town of Kinokomura ever saw. Some names may no longer be here, like Daineri keeper Ytalo, but the Mushrooms remain a dangerous team to face.
Muahytahu netted the captain position with the departure of Ytalo, although some point that there are some similarities between both, besides the colour of their skin, their birth region and their defensive status. The Huelandian might not see International Football in the future, but for someone like him, the opportunity to play at the Hinodejin Empire came at a perfect time, with some touting that he might be pretty handy at the rebirth of Futurnian football, regardless of where he ends up.
In the past seasons, Audioslavians tend to show up at the Youth League following participation at a goofy reality show at their homeland. Logan Goff is one of two of those at Toadstool, but only he seems to be poised towards bigger things, a dominating defensive mid with a couple of good moves on the side. He should improve further at Toadstool, what with having a good couple of years left at the Hinodejin youth league.
The Goblin girl Kimi Ishtari avoided joining the usual Goblin sides of the league in order to play for the Toadstool Enterprises team for a couple of Hinodejin crowns more than she'd get at other teams. The results have been pretty good for her so far, not only financially but football-wise. She fell short of playing at the DBC this year, mostly due to the level of the competition there and schedule problems. Still, she shouldn't be ignored.
Starblaydi under-21 international Glauco Vega came after scouts of the company visited the DBC and tried to convince him to join. After a whole lot of financial dealings, he got himself a nice little flat and the obligation to play for the Toadstools. Albeit not the star of this team, Vega was key to push the team out of Kinokomura towards a good spot this season.

ZEPPELIN FOUNDATION
Daiyawayasu, Somei-Yoshino
Titles:
2139 All-Hinodejin Youth Football League
Top Player: Bakuryu Nobutatsu (CB/WB/DM, HIN, 17 y/o)
Names to Watch: Harper Casey (MID, KOR, 18 y/o), Makoto Mizoguchi (CB/DM, HIN, 16 y/o), Mjolnir Kallström (SW/CB/DM, HIN, 15 y/o)
Legend has it that the Zeppelin Foundation had a four-year plan to eventually win the league's title. If that's the case, they've done that justice, winning the Youth Football League title on the heels of a neat performance done by players such as Yugo Ogami and Bakuryu Nobutatsu. This season should probably be based after the desire of being the first team to do a repeat, keeping the title back at Daiyawayasu, right?
Bakuryu Nobutatsu has already caught many scouts' attention, not only for the Zeppelin Foundation side but also for the Hinodejin National Team. Already a lock to the Zeppelin University, an expansion of the process that the team he plays at seem to have towards football as a whole, Bakuryu is preparing for another piece of silverware this season, in order to finish his stint with Zeppelin Foundation perfectly.
Harper Casey was brought in with some massive hype, being the sole Ko-orenite at the league and that country apparently going through some sort of resurgence as of late. Also of note is his impressive versatility, although his current level isn't all that high, especially due to a lack of consistency.
Makoto Mizoguchi and Mjolnir Kallström are both players being built for the future seasons, both defensive pieces and both with some rather unique backgrounds. Notably, Kallström was shopped around during the Transfer Window but chose to join this side due to a lack of takers. She hopes to prove foreign teams wrong for skipping on her.

ZORA YOUTH
Kamitenabaru, Burakuriri
Titles:
None
Top Player: Aruyi Fanoluma (ST, HIN, 17 y/o)
Names to Watch: Peta Kivipepi (OM, HIN, 16 y/o), Mephuru Oteturu (GK, HIN, 15 y/o), Miko Okernirar (DM, HIN, 15 y/o)
The Zoras' team, Zora Youth, is known as a team often underrated, although a fair bunch of their talent have since been showing up on the U-21 national team and a lot of buzzing has been generated over them. While their trophy cabinet remains empty, the team itself has always been a major threat and will remain so for a good while. A saying at Burakuriri is pretty clear about this: "Zoras take to the football field as Zoras take to the water, they're natural".
Aruyi Fanoluma is the main name of this team, an already clear solid player that already looks towards the possibility of playing professionally after he reaches the age of 21, he's been currently involved in tests that look towards making the Zora people more adjusted to regular cities instead of their homes and their pitch, which is usually somewhat moist in order to let the locals enjoy their games. Fanoluma could easily be the first big Zora player in the history of the Empire.
Peta Kivipepi, Mephuru Oteturu and Miko Okernirar represent the Zoras' ease to generate young talent, these three players being talented enough to be key members at any other team with no trouble. It's a scary thought that the Zoras' prospects are this talented, while being just their prospects.

UNIVERSITY FOOTBALL
The Battle for the Book of Athena, Chapter Three
Article written by Royal Academy Sophomore Aiko Sakuraba and Rookie sisters Chikako and Hanako Ueno

So, that hack Watanabe can bring up helpers? Then so can I! Please, welcome Chikako who is responsible for scouting the top players of each team and Hanako, who will do news' gathering for each school... And I'll just write everything up, easy as that. Time to get ready for the finest University football preview in the history of our sport... mwahahahahahaha!

BASQUE UNIVERSITY
Basuku-Hitoshi, Nashihana
Titles:
None
Top Player: Juan Gauxo Soriano (CM/OM/RM/LM, HIN, 18 y/o)
Names to Watch: Eneko Tachibana (RM/CM, HIN, 19 y/o), Ander Tachibana (CM/LM, HIN, 19 y/o), Letze Gorralateyan (CB, STO, 18 y/o)
The second edition of the Vilfredo Corsi stint as a University manager presents a certainly stronger Basque University side, a school that amped up their recruiting and brought in a group of respectable foreigners. That said, the school's reputation for being very selective with who gets to attend their institution has been questioned. Audioslavians of all sort were allowed in, even though that means names like Farooq Nawfal and Henry Trotter can now attend the University; while the only other foreigner to be allowed was one Letze Gorralateyan, apparently due to his name.
An actual Basque by birthplace and blood, Juan Gauxo Soriano attended the Meshina Crescent High School last season and was stuck playing high school ball at the Western portion of the Empire, which cast some shadow behind him from the get-go. That said, Soriano has been parading his football at friendlies between the schools, including the first-ever Gonbidapen, an invitational tournament hosted by the University. There, he displayed an uncanny ability to flip the ball around, avoiding tackles with ease. Legends about him swindling tourists out of their money via kickabouts might be currently clouding him in the university's view, but he should be pretty good if given the chance.
The Tachibana twins Eneko and Ander have joined the University last year with a mission, to erase the embarrassment caused by their ancestors at the institution, preferably with the Book of Athena. Unfortunately, things haven't really gone their way, the team has failed to even qualify to the playoffs. Another year presents another opportunity for the twins to perform the way they want to.
Gorralateyan is a center back that left his homeland at South Toronto, the idea of foreign graduation hardly being very interesting to him, to begin with: he's here to play ball and has made that very well known already. A sturdy, resilient defender, he served as the wall that guaranteed several shut-outs at the Gonbidapen, enough to raise interest on the university's students and fans. Letze is key to Corsi's line-up, a perfect recruit if there ever is one.

CHOKOBOSHIMA FLIGHT ACADEMY
Chokoboshima, Rikuyoru
Titles:
None
Top Player: Qiu Tan (GK, HIN, 18 y/o)
Names to Watch: Chika Yamada (ST, HIN, 19 y/o), Shinobu Yamaguchi (CM, HIN, 19 y/o), Patrik Dobos (SW/CB/DM, HIN, 18 y/o)
One of the four teams to come out of the Selective Tournament, the Chokobos went from underdog to national runners-up, a surprising run that featured a couple of good players playing under a sound 3-5-2 tactic. The rise to the top tier didn't come at the greatest of times, however. The Academy itself has always prided on creating good air pilots, not footballers. According to the Campus' President, that hasn't changed at all.
Regardless of what the Academy thinks of the sport, however, they recruited a pretty good goalkeeper out of Tentai. Qiu Tan came after some really good non-league seasons at Tentai Southern HS, which was all due to him either not being picked to play for Tentai's All-City Team or him refusing the call for that team. Quizzically, in the latter's case, he ended up joining the one institute in the top tier that isn't really focused on producing good footballers.
Chika Yamada currently "enjoys" the position of the controversial captain of the football team, often at odds with the Flight team captain due to recent events. That said, the team's captain wouldn't be half bad at most KiHi-League 1 sides, her knack for finding paths to the goal being key for the Academy's runner-up run at the Selective Tournament.
Shinobu Yamaguchi joined the academy to get a future job as a hostess, only to find her true calling as a footballer. A player full of flair, the way she touches the ball in the offence can get pretty ridiculous, a dangerous player at pretty much any point of the field if given the time to do so. Possibly a prospect to the future of the Empire's football.
Patrik Dobos is actually a friend of Yamada that joined the Academy with the objective of turning the institution into a school that accepts the sport. His versatility at the back made him an interesting target to a couple of universities (including the possibility of teaming up with his brother Zsiga at Himawari), but he chose to join the Academy with the fallback of possibly becoming a pilot in the future. He does have the willpower to be a good player, but it remains to be seen if he'll do so here.

HIMAWARI UNIVERSITY
Kazama, Himawari
Titles:
None
Top Player: Momoko Ichibonji (ST, HIN, 19 y/o)
Names to Watch: Mai Yoshida (CM/OM/SS/CF, HIN, 18 y/o), Ken Wakamaruichi (GK, HIN, 19 y/o), Natsushiko Saito (CB, HIN, 19 y/o)
The birthplace of some of the finer footballers of the history of the Empire, the local University has not performed to the potential of those greats, having been eliminated during the regular season as the tenth place team. Recruiting brought a couple of interesting pieces but the Suns remain a fairly inconsistent team so far at the pre-season. Things might change during the season, however.
Momoko Ichibonji remains the Suns' best player, but also the team's biggest problem. A fantastic striker that should be in the contention for the finest striker in the nation, her potential is clouded by the pain of having a still-maturing player go through all sorts of motions. Albeit a fantastic prospect, Ichibonji's mental attributes remain problematic and it's hard to be sure if she'll become the player she's expected to be.
Mai Yoshida is technically a journeywoman, having played for a myriad of Himawari State Youth League sides but never really finding a groove anywhere. Financial problems also marred her life so far, most of the money she earned as a footballer going towards paying for her sister's health issues. A strict anti-cyborg person, Yoshida chooses instead to push questions towards her football, of which she has plenty of in a pair of old boots. Should be a major help/utility player for this first season of University football.
Ken Wakamaruichi serves as Ichibonji's emotional rock, the only sort of protection that the girl has for her own volatile emotions. That said, he's more developed as a player, already a solid goalkeeper with brief flashes of greatness. Although not having the easiest of jobs (the defence was very lacking at the University thanks to a severe lack of quality players on the back) hasn't exactly done him wonders, it's quite telling that even at such a team, he was at the shortlist of playing as a goalkeeper for the under-21s. Should be taken more seriously by Himawari supporters.
Natsushiko Saito was the other notable player on the back, one of the two souls that had to deal with a lacking defence last season. Instead of being on the field during the pre-season, he was busy lifting weights, looking very much like a bodybuilder, on the hopes that his appearance would make his defence job a bit easier. It looks great on the eyes though we don't really know if it'll be that effective.

HYLIA UNIVERSITY
Ikidomari, Kameria
Titles:
None
Top Player: Tanui Itsubaku (ST, HIN, 19 y/o)
Names to Watch: Sephi Nell Kirishima (OM/CM/CF, HIN, 19 y/o), Phishis Thipishatia (SS, HIN, 18 y/o), Dungan Dozabotanon (SW/CB, HIN, 18 y/o)
One of the nation's finest academical institutions, the Hylia University is also one of those universities that restrict entrance towards one group of people, Hylians in specific (although Elves from Yesopalitha have since joined the school). Their mission for the football team is revealing the next great Hylian player, although they should probably focus more on not being near the bottom of the table. Again.
Tanui Itsubaku arrived as the main prospect for the Hylians last season albeit in a fairly weak recruitment class. He thus did the best he could at a notably weak team, pushing them out of having to play the Selective Tournament. Still, being a good player in a rather average team is a thing he'll have to deal with for quite a while, even if the team has gotten a bit better with the new recruits. He's also not the next Hylian star, apparently, so... yeah.
Sephi Nell Kirishima was the other notable prospect from the recruiting class that came last season and... well, she's also not the best player in the world. Last season was mostly about cleaning up the bigger mistakes the rest of the team made, something that she proved to be somewhat good at. This season might be a bit better for her, as she'll have more specific functions instead of playing literally anywhere.
One of the two more promising players from the recruiting class this season, Phishis is another offensive piece that the team has now at their arsenal, hopefully, the one piece that will push the envelope further into turning this team into a proper contestant instead of just another regular team at the league.
That said, the key new player the team has is Dungan Dozabotanon, a mixed sweeper/center-back that will hopefully help out Miramu Noronku in the defensive side of things. He was an interesting player at the Mido-Hinode Hylian High School, although the lack of actual league football raises some questions over whether or not he can hold up in the University game.

IMPERIAL FORCES ACADEMY
Seidoshi, Uchina
Titles:
2139 Book of Athena
Top Player: Kotaro Katsura (CM/OM/ST, HIN, 19 y/o)
Names to Watch: Gintoki Sakata (CB/CM/OM, HIN, 19 y/o), Seira Muchiko (LM/LB/CB/CM, HIN, 19 y/o), Myozan Namezono (GK, HIN, 19 y/o)
The current book wielders of the Empire, the Imperial Forces Samurai came as a favourite for the title last season and did good on their promise, even if their low regular season spot didn't help matters at first. In the end, the Samurai found themselves the newest in the line of several champions, featuring a rock solid squad that really only picked up utility pieces for this season. They're still very dangerous.
Kotaro Katsura served as the captain of the Imperial Academy's football team after finding fantastic reputation in other matters that weren't related to football. Ironically, Katsura doesn't plan on being a footballer in the future, simply stating that his goal in football is to show his talents towards leadership and setting examples for his teammates.
Gintoki Sakata is another surprisingly good player, although the lack of care he usually displays raises a lot of eyebrows. Nicknamed by teammates as "The Silver-haired Demon", Sakata's offensive prowess was key in pushing the team across the bar to qualify to the playoffs and later lead to them eventually winning the league. He's looking just as carefree and uninterested as he did last season, which is probably a good sign for his team.
The "Lady of War" Seira Muchiko was one of last season's key prospects brought up by the Imperial University. The idea was mostly simple, an effective lateral player to connect both sides of the field and to her credit, she has since performed that function pretty well. She has also been making the rounds outside of the field, mostly thanks to a lot of charity service. Now, she gears up for another season of football.
Mashu Elite HS alumni Myozan Namezono proved to remain a very good goalkeeper, helping out at the net of one of the nation's most solid University sides. Already a national prospect, the defences Myozan pulled last season are the stuff of legend. For this season, he plans to remain as a surprising and as shocking as ever.
Image
KANSHIRO UNIVERSITY
Kanshiro, Nishikoku
Titles:
None
Top Player: Seong Mi-Na (OM, HIN, 18 y/o)
Names to Watch: Baek Doo-San (CB/DM, HIN, 19 y/o), Kim Dong-Hwan (RB/CB/RM, HIN, 18 y/o), Kim Jae-Hoon (LB/CB/LM, HIN, 18 y/o)
Last season, the Dragons reached a somewhat respectable eleventh place, but it's clear that the institution could (and by all accounts was looking towards doing so) go for more. They did go for more in their recruitment, bringing in the nation's top prospect in Seong Mi-Na. Mi-Na, a former Cherry at the high school level has garnered some notable interest in the past couple of seasons, helping her team out in the long run but her status at the number one prospect of the nation remains questionable at best, helped by a lack of really top calibre players to come out of the high school level. Playing at her home state presents some comfort but it's clear they want titles and they want it now.
Both Kim brothers, Dong-Hwang and Jae-Hoon were from the other power of the Joseon region in the high school level, the Koshu Dragon Guard HS team, where they were both sorts of in the shadows of the man known as Gum Nam-Gong. Still, the brothers themselves had a reputation for fast, passing football, something they brought up to the Uni level during the pre-season.
Baek Doo-San is one of the team's solid Sophomore players, the current captain of the squad and possibly the piece that keeps everything together as far as defensive play goes. Albeit a marked man (he still has the death of a mentor behind him), the young defensive midfielder could mean business this season, with a cast of good players in front of him.
Image
KUROBA UNIVERSITY
Gagameru, Kuroba
Titles:
None
Top Player: Odo Cazal (GK, CMT, 18 y/o)
Names to Watch: Cliff Cliggerton (CB, HTR, 18 y/o), Mun Gyeong-Suk (DM/CM, HIN, 18 y/o), Somchai Metharon (OM, HIN, 19 y/o)
A very surprising season for Kuroba as the Magic were able to stay in the middle of the table, ignoring expectations of relegation. Thanks to a safe defensive style, the Magic managed to hold scores too low amounts and ended the tournament last time around with a small negative Goal Difference but still managed to stay on top. With that in mind, recruitment should've been towards more offensive players and possibly one or two good defensive pieces.
Instead, Kuroba's first order of choice was to have a solid goalkeeper. Their keeper of choice was Aloha Heiwashima starter keeper Odo Cazal, a Chromatik player that should be at his home country in normal conditions, but because of some political issues, sees himself still playing in the Hinodejin Empire as the keeper of a middling University. Things might be better than they were at Aloha, however.
Khantarian (a country at Tanah Melayu, apparently) center-back Cliff Cliggerton is another foreign recruit, a result of his home region trying to push themselves into the International scene. It's hard to really tell whether or not he'll be a great player at the Magic, but he does fit with the team's tactics and should give a little bit of a break at the back for Catreena Skylycorn. If he's good, their defence improves seven-fold. If he isn't, they at least have someone other than a satyr to hold everything in the back.
Mun Gyeong-Suk didn't have the same prestige of other Kanshiro-based players, far from the heights of Seong Mi-Na, Kim Dong-Hwan and Kim Jae-Hoon, though not to her fault. It's probably more on her representing Kanshiro International HS during her high school days which left her out of the national pyramid, but also meant she had to work extra-hard for any attention. The laborious midfielder should add at least some glint of hope at the offensive side, although it's clear she has that defensive edge that seems to be a thing at Kuroba.
Somchai Metharon has the somewhat inglorious responsibility of being one of the two interesting forwards of Kuroba University. Her job might be better than second striker Ryotaro Ishikari (who lacks a striker of his calibre to really put some work out of) but it's really telling that the team still hasn't found any other great offensive pieces in a league that really likes those.
Image
MIDO-HINODE UNIVERSITY
Harumi, Mido-Hinode
Titles:
None
Top Player: Ikki Tokei (OM, HIN, 19 y/o)
Names to Watch: Zilot-Trenj Miz (DEF, QUS, 19 y/o), Ivica Svok (CB, MYT, 18 y/o), Soda Nagatomo (CM, HIN, 18 y/o)
So. These guys. Last season's favourite team to win the Book of Athena. Ten minutes of the first half. The Rocket Park. Somei-Yoshino having to beat them by more than a goal to go through to the next round of the playoffs. And it all went under thanks to Ikki Tokei picking an injury at the start of the match where they should, by all accounts, eliminate the team that went on to be slashed across the neck by the Samurai at the Semis. Normally, any team would've boiled over after such a thing. Mido-Hinode took the other route: make your team even stronger.
Don't get me wrong though: Ikki Tokei is still the best player of this team, period, and if you follow Hinodejin youth football, you're very much aware of this and doesn't need any explanation beyond the fact he's about as close as the Empire ever got to a footballing legend in the making besides possibly Sang Kyung-Ja. He was a monster throughout the regular season and (unlike last season) we don't have playoffs to mess up his opportunity to lift another piece of silverware, his second team title.
Zilot-Trenj Miz is... uh... is a player from Qusmo, a nation somewhat young and new to the international fold, which should make... uh... their presence in the Mido-Hinode set-up a fantastic coup. Granted their defence is already rock solid, but the fact they actually do have another U-21 international there to bring safety instead of... well, a couple of international U-21 players. Look, it's hard to focus when we don't exactly know what gender this person has, as good as they are.
Ivica Svok is another addition to the defensive fortress the Hornets have. He was brought up to diversify the options at the back, another player to work with Matthias Jönsson, if not become a starter, depending on how things go during the season. The Mytanar could mean business, scouts beware.
The only real notable local prospect is Soda Nagatomo, a center mid with a very important surname in football, a descendant of Namine Nagatomo and a player of one of the few powerful institutions not to be on the top tier of the Empire's high school league, the somewhat underrated Maniwa International HS. He meant business against the lowly teams of Division 4 and now gets the opportunity to play at one of the strongest University teams of the multiverse, let alone the Empire. At worse, he can be a bench member this season.
Image
NAKORURU COLLEGE
Mitsunomori, Ainushima
Titles:
2139 HIFL Selective Tournament
Top Player: Kasumi Hitomi (CB, HIN, 19 y/o)
Names to Watch: Nikola Romanov (DM, HIN, 19 y/o), Thimiscles Seanclair (GK, YSP, 18 y/o), Eufemma Joubert (ST, CMT, 18 y/o)
Let's be all very honest here: the Eagles from Nakoruru College were the last team expected to win the Selective Tournament last season. We all expected either one of the relegated teams or even institutions like Kos-Mos, National Robotics or Kuroba State to lift that pseudo-title. In the end, however, a hat trick by Rina Marushika and Miyako Hisakawa met the end of a hot contest between them and Chokoboshima.
Of course, the biggest shock among these is that Kasumi Hitomi, a lesser player from Aloha Heiwashima, considering how poor the team was during her stint there, was the captain for that Selective Tournament win. And the player herself has improved majorly, a player that deserves her captainship. Playing at an unusual institution like Nakoruru College does beat being the failed star of Aloha Heiwashima after all.
Nikola Romanov is another member of the surprise win team from last season. He was key in getting the team through the early rounds, notably for some severe tackles against Rasputin College (which wasn't exactly even much of a challenge, to begin with). Here in the top tier, things might be different, but he's ready to pour blood and soul on every single game. Preferably other people's blood.
One of the Eagles' recruitment coups has to be Thimiscles Seanclair, who previously played for the Misutikku-Iseki Diamond Miners and nabbed a Golden Globe during his time there. With that in mind, the Yesopalithan did note that this was a slightly rougher challenge, thanks to the state of the institution as a whole. Still, the lack of an option for starter keepers meant he had to go to Nakoruru College. Hopefully, this was actually a match made out of skill, not causality.
Another foreigner joining the institution is Eufemma Joubert. A much-needed striker, Eufemma's records aren't as hallowed as the new keeper the team has: she was at the Luna Wanderers' side that got relegated from the top tier and also at the team that got promoted back to the top tier. Now, she looks towards breaking in as a major top tier talent. Easier said than done.

NATIONAL BATTLE INSTITUTE
Misakinawa, Misashima
Titles:
None
Top Player: Tora Misawa (CM, HIN, 21 y/o)
Names to Watch: Tlalli Koizumi (CM, HIN, 19 y/o), Rhee Dong-Geung (CM/OM/ST, HIN, 18 y/o), Kathil Mizumaru (OM, HIN, 19 y/o)
Last season's relegation favourites ended as far away as possible from going down for a team with their skill, finishing the season in a very respectable twelveth place. The Trainers saw their venue be slightly upgraded for opposing teams while their recruitment didn't exactly match up the hopes the team had of building up a really strong team, although options on the middle are very diverse now, which should help for a couple of reasons.
Key of those is the soon to be departing Tora Misawa. Already a senior, Misawa stepped out of the dark as a surprise star for a team of unknowns, holding the team's captainship with some incomparable drive and willpower. He wishes to finish his university career with style, hopefully putting the team on the top ten this season.
It's quite impressive how ex-SHiNE member Tlalli Koizumi took to football. Already a somewhat edgy character, Tlalli became a midfielder that simply doesn't take any prisoners, going hard after the ball with no regards for protection (either for herself or her opponents). Opponents beware as the girl seems deadset on doing even more damage this season.
Rhee Dong-Geung was recruited this season with her utility on the mind. Able to play at a myriad of positions, taking back to the days of the Utility player that Sunrisian football usually featured, Rhee Dong-Geung was actually trained to play as a goalkeeper at her youth and has only recently declared to be an offensive player. Most are confused on how she doesn't touch the ball with her hands after so many years of practice doing so.
Kathil Mizumaru was instrumental offensively, although with a very poor scoring rate. Though without much of a year to write about last season, the nineteen-year-old lady was always putting the best of efforts, which is why she's still a key player to this team. The new season and new players might help things out for her, however.

NISHIKOKU UNIVERSITY
Mizuhara, Nishikoku
Titles:
None
Top Player: Rhee Ji-U (CB, HIN, 19 y/o)
Names to Watch: Nuan Li Laolong (CM/OM/RM/LM, HIN, 19 y/o), Otmar Pajk (DM, MYT, 18 y/o), Choe Kyung-Sook (CM/OM/RM/LM, HIN, 18 y/o)
Let's face it: The Phoenix didn't scare anyone last season besides themselves, achieving an impressively awful twentieth out of twenty-four teams, barely avoiding the drop thanks to Royal Academy's sincere lack of tact in the final games of the season when they flat out refused to play Constanze Schultheiss, who was that team's best player and... sorry, sorry, this is the wrong team to complain about that. Nishikoku's saving grace was the lack of competence of other teams, but also their defensive gem, Rhee Ji-U, really saving the day out there. A new manager, one Jin Sung-Il was brought in to hopefully shake things off. He did so by benching some of the most notable players the team featured last season, including stalwart Mun Seo-Joon, brought in the first ever international player of the Phoenix in Otmar Pajk and also found a new possible gem in Choe Kyung-Sook. Expectations are mostly in the same ball-park, middle of the standings, but this time the team should have enough to back themselves up.
Rhee Ji-U had a herculean task last season, holding up a completely inept Nishikoku team in the top tier. She did that with a large dose of effort and talent, blocking opposition that should have run over them on a regular basis to mostly, almost running over them every now and then. For her efforts, she was rewarded with the captainship, which had been stripped from last season's bust Mun Seo-Joon. Her predictions for this season: more effort and a less scary season.
The only player in the top tier to actually be bonded to a giant magic dragon, Nuan Li Laolong didn't play much for Nishikoku, mostly benched out of fears that she'd behave like... well, a dragon. Those fears were pretty much wrong but by the time she was actually played, the team was pretty much near relegation and there wasn't much more football to be played. This season, Nuan Li hopes to actually play. I know, crazy wish.
Nishikoku's first international student, Otmar Pajk, was brought in personally by the team's new manager, promised to be a hard-nosed midfielder that loves contact, especially of the aggressive kind. Albeit not fully used to the weather and the location, the Mytanar prospect has since noted that he intends to develop his game at the University before leaving for more lucrative opportunities, whether at the Empire, at his homeland or away from both.
Choe Kyung-Sook attended the Mizuhara Orchid High School in the nearby state of... well, Mizuhara, away from the usual eyes that watch the national youth league. Her presence here is mostly to serve as a dual threat with the companionship of Nuan Li Laolong, although she lacks the dragon connection that makes Laolong so important.

UNIVERSITY OF THE PACIFIC
Mitsushima, Heiwashima
Titles:
None
Top Player: Tatsuma Sakamoto (CB/DM/OM, HIN, 19 y/o)
Names to Watch: Kichirou Yamaguchi (LM, HIN, 19 y/o), Lukas Stonemoore (ST, HIN, 18 y/o), Vibol Keo (ST, HIN, 19 y/o)
Last season's surprise playoff qualifiers, the University of Pacific overperformed. Built on top of walk-ons, with their key players being recruitment drop off Kichirou Yamaguchi and former child clown Tatsuma Sakamoto; nobody expected the Tide to be one of the only eight teams to be able to claim a playoff appearance in their past. This season still sees a fairly small team but with a couple of new players that might guarantee them at the top tier, at least.
Tatsuma Sakamoto was a mere walk-on at the start of the season. It was a surprise when he leads the Tide to the playoffs but the player showed his stuff as a player, clad in the blue-and-green outfit. This season will hopefully be more of the same for him.
Kichirou Yamaguchi came as a surprise after he declined invites from a group of more notable institutions, including the Royal Academy, to represent the University of the Pacific. A fantastic move, in all fairness, given how he went on to be a key player for the Tide, helping them reach the playoffs and eventually score the final goal of the team at that season when they bowed down respectfully to the Tsutsuji University. Hopefully, he's able to help them secure a good position this season as well.
Nepharim Lukas Stonemoore is a recruit for this season, another foreign wanderer with the sole interest of adding to his game in a new environment. Granted, this is an uphill battle for a foreigner whose main skill is being a towering striker that should be a pain for any defender in the air, there's something very noble about him doing so as a member of the Tide.
A former attraction at Circus Deliquous at the northern plains, Vibol Keo's goal against the Zora University is possibly the greatest achievement of his footballing career so far. While certainly an unorthodox player with a very weird touch, Keo is still a major name at the Pacific's rather underwhelming team and should remain so this season.

RAKUN BIOLOGIC ACADEMY
Rakun, Kameria
Titles:

Top Player: Linus Throgmorton (ST, 19 y/o, KOR)
Names to Watch: Shinnosuke Nohara (CM/OM/ST, 19 y/o, HIN), Aristeides Yamada (RM, 19 y/o, HIN), Matrona Yamada (LM, 19 y/o, HIN)
Another playoff team from last season, the Umbrellas were led by Shinnosuke Nohara to a Quarter-Finals' participation where they were slammed by the Foxes from Tsutsuji University. With already an impressive build up from last season, this club now has managed to snag one of the key coups of the season with their international signing. This season promises to be more of the same, not a bad thing considering they did reach the top eight last season.
The name for this season has to be Linus Throgmorton, a national team player for his native Ko-oren, that chose academics over athletics and has since been diving deep into Biological Engineering as a major. There's a lot to be earned by the Rakun Biologic Academy with this player and odds are he'll fit in pretty well, despite the overall kooky nature of the team.
Shinnosuke Nohara's name was chanted, loved at the field that Rakun plays at and for very good reason. Although an oddity at pretty much anything besides being human, Nohara was the sort of player defenders hate: a player that loves contact, especially of the questionable kind, making all sorts of faces to break them up from trying to even follow him. It's cheap, but it works. Fans already wonder what sort of thing he'll pull out this season.
The Yamada twins are Golems, artificial life created by unknown hands. Well... not quite unknown hands, they're actually creations from the Academy themselves, the children of a teacher that unfortunately couldn't bear kids of her own. In a very joyful moment, both twins were accepted as students for the institution and soon enough started to play for the team as well. They work fairly well as a duo and made themselves notable in the regular season. This season, the two seem to be interested in repeating their good performances.

SAKURAHANA UNIVERSITY
Kodoryo, Sakurahana
Titles:
None
Top Player: Kakeru Aizawa (SS, HIN, 19 y/o)
Names to Watch: Amélie Nanami Anjou (GK, HIN, 19 y/o), Yuki Takashima (RM, HIN, 18 y/o), Yami Takashima (LM, HIN, 18 y/o)
Last season registered a literal stump for the Sakurahana Knights, a team that was at the edge of the list for a title after losing in a close affair to Tsutsuji, now a mid-bottom side with very little prospects after their core dissolved somewhat. This season is just another chapter on that tale, with both Keitaro Urashima and Hinata Azuma probably seeing very little play time as they prepare to wrap up their academical affairs before graduating. What remains there is certainly interesting, a good bunch of Sophomores and a couple of good Rookies, but they still haven't reached the zenith of team chemistry that the Middle Four reached in previous seasons.
Kakeru Aizawa is the team's best player, a good thing considering he still has some seasons as a Knight to fulfill. The problem, especially last season, was his pace, but not in the way you'd expect. Aizawa always runs at a 10, while the team often oscillates. The team's slower pace meant that more often than not, Kakeru Aizawa, this shiny player that should be the difference maker ended up either offside or just getting marked before being able to do anything.
To avoid this, they brought the two speedy sisters from Senso-Shukujo, Yuki and Yami Takashima. Albeit not fantastic players (not a big surprise, Senso-Shukujo has never been a team known for making an impression at the football ranks), they do have the speed to back Aizawa up, hopefully connecting him to the rest of the team through incessant running.
The surprise last season was a girl that started as a reserve goalie before being promoted by the tenth matchday, one Amélie Nanami Anjou. This member of the house of Anjou, nicknamed "The Queen of the Net" became popular for her acrobatic saves, but also her flamboyant personality, especially off the field. Another season should bring a hardened and even kookier goalkeeper in Nana Anjou, in any case.

SHIGA UNIVERSITY
Karino, Shiga
Titles:
None
Top Player: Maryuu Nitta (CF/FW, HIN, 19 y/o)
Names to Watch: Tai Yeung (RM, HIN, 18 y/o), Deniel Moreau (CB, HIN, 19 y/o), Saran Mizuti (RM/CM/OM, HIN, 18 y/o)
One of the four new teams this season, the Stampede from Shiga University were also not expected to reach the final four. Their biggest attraction was former Aloha Heiwashima player Maryuu Nitta, another case of a player from the once powerful youth team reaching a sort of revival in their career at the University level. With their first season at such heights, Shiga went down hard on the recruiting and brought up a couple of good players that could help them remain at the top tier.
Maryuu Nitta, a competent player back at Aloha Heiwashima, saw his stock go down as the historied team failed to remain at the top of the All Hinodejin Youth Football League for long. He joined the outfit over academical worries, sensing that his time as a footballer wouldn't be much longer anyway... only to find himself in a resurgence at the Selective Tournament. Indecision towards his future aside, Nitta plans to give his best this season, just out of habit. While not a fantastic player at any stretch, he can be quite something against those that expect little from him.
Tai Yeung spent the past five years as a wanderer before applying for the Shiga University, being accepted after showing he had enough knowledge to justify going to University instead of... well... going to a high school. A man well versed on the High Fist of the Northern Mountain school of kung fu, he's a bit aggressive, especially when someone thinks he's a girl. He should be a cheetah of a midfielder this season... as soon as he goes over the subjects he missed all those years away from the classes.
The Moreaus are a well-renowned family of explorers and their youngest member, Deniel, is no exception. A true scholar of not only the game but foreign cultures all over the Empire, Deniel chose to attend Shiga specifically so he'd be able to catch the awe-inspiring sights of the Shiga mountains. When not checking those, he's a competent centre-back and even more of a wiseass, a result of spending years studying as any good Moreau should.
Saran Mizuti is a unique case. She's technically a local, being born at the province of Shiga but... well, she was born at a distant, almost unknown village: the Village of the Clouds. Because of this, the girl is usually wearing a large and somewhat heavy mask with a myriad of drawings that seem to serve to protect her own face from the denser air of the surface. How she plays with that is still a bit of a mystery, but she apparently does, and pretty well at that. Should be a useful piece if the legends about her are the truth after all.

SOMEI-YOSHINO UNIVERSITY
Hinode, Somei-Yoshino
Titles:
None
Top Player: Choji Matsumono-Gide (RB/RM/OM, HIN, 19 y/o)
Names to Watch: Ryota Kawaguchi (GK, HIN, 19 y/o), Akira Nanakawa (CM, HIN, 19 y/o), Gang Seong-Min (ST/OM, HIN, 18 y/o)
A massive two-game rout last season meant the Rockets from Somei-Yoshino were just another corpse left in the ultimately champions' path of the Imperial Forces Academy. One of the most notable sights of last season was when Choji Matsumono-Gide simply couldn't do anything of worth against the Samurai and their keeper, one Myozan Namezono. Very much like Mido-Hinode, Somei-Yoshino is also building upon the great line-up they already had, picking up pieces that should allow their star to focus on one specific position.
Somei-Yoshino's football is still the Choji Matsumono-Gide show, a player that came from the former West Africa region to play a key role in a squad that was already, by all accounts, solid. He has since proven that his high ratings at the prospect board when other institutions tried their hand at bringing him were very much deserved, scoring goal after goal, beating defender after defender. The matter of another season for Somei-Yoshino's Black Panther is quite literally a formality, beyond the key games against other fellow championship contenders.
Although not a household name as other keepers in the league, Ryota Kawaguchi is a former basketballer that quit the team over the state of Somei-Yoshino's basketball team. Alas, he still had to play for a team inside the institution, taking the role of the goalkeeper in an intramural game, which turned out to be his true calling. Albeit not as formidable as other goalkeepers, he's still a safe in constant look for development.
Akira Nanakawa came to the University under the shadows of Matsumono-Gide, but she has since been surprisingly content in serving as the perfect coadjuvant for Choji's fast style of play. A good passer, talented in playmaking and fantastic at contact plays, she's one of the team's most notable players for that. Funny how someone can develop that much by being a proper top player.
Gang Seong-Min is a prospect that played her football in the hallowed Mashu High School circuit before being recruited this season. Born in Kanshiro, she moved in with her family over her father's job and has been playing football for years, but her elusiveness from the spotlight was justified, the girl dreaded playing for any All Hinodejin Youth Football side, especially the Mashu Elite High School, where she was apparently denied entrance over paperwork. Quite the teammate for Shunmaru Tenryu, who now spends half of the day saying sorry over her past.

TENTAI UNIVERSITY
Tentai City, Tentai
Titles:
None
Top Player: Takahazu Ozawa (CB, 19 y/o, HIN)
Names to Watch: Chin Guan (OM, 19 y/o, HIN), Zenzo Hattori (LM/RM/OM, 19 y/o, HIN), Marcel Forde (GK, 18 y/o, NPH)
The Empire's capital team of the league, Tentai came out to impress and they certainly did a number, barely missing out on the playoffs, a 9th place that was considered quite something by the university, given their poor results in their first ever football season. Progress on developing a respectable team with a winning culture seems to be a key priority and they plan to do so with some of their new pieces, including two foreigners, although one of those isn't coming for this season, the Starblaydia under-21 national team forward Elianora Mendez, who currently trains with the actual Dragons squad but is still attending a final year of high school before properly joining them.
Takahazu Ozawa is still the proud captain of the ship, considered the foundation of the team's defence and a solid piece considering that the team's lack of a solid keeper meant they would need a solid line. Albeit that no longer seems like a problem, he plans to retain his physical, no-cares-given football.
Chin Guan is another player that joined them last season, a girl that was born at the metropolitan Tentai area and has never really seen any interest in playing anywhere else that wasn't near her home. Of course, she's now somewhat used to the travelling, thanks to playing on the top tier of University football but there's something really cute about a player that has to travel while holding a snuggle.
Zenzo Hattori, former ninjutsu practicioner, a shadow among the usually solid and talkative players of the Tentai University. Weirdly enough, for a person that would usually be hidden in the shadows, Zenzo is one of the team's key players, a talented foot at play creation and just regular passing.

TOGENE GIRLS' ACADEMY
Kari, Minamihara
Titles:
None
Top Player: Chenda Chey (CB, 19 y/o, HIN)
Names to Watch: Chiharu Mirei (LB/LM, 19 y/o, HIN), Gim Ji-Eun (SS/ST/OM/CM, 19 y/o, HIN), Kimiko Koizumi (RM/CM/LM, 18 y/o, HIN)
Togene was a middling side last season, nothing too impressive but nothing really out of the ordinary from the usual efforts of the underdog institution, specially at such a level as the top tier. Togene didn't really go for broke during the recruitment season, bringing really only one notable player in, but considering the state of affairs at the institution, odds are this wasn't exactly a key problem at the university.
Chenda Chey's legendary strength remains the reason for shock and awe at the campus, this farmer girl now spending most of her time practicing log lifting. Her football is pretty much like that, rough, full of contact and usually focused on the one thing she has above everyone else. While she's predictable, her strength is so good that it's somehow justifiable.
Chiharu Mirei is the speedster of the team, capable of losing markers and bolting through the side of the field in barely a minute when she's rested. While a vocal complainer over the campus' nature of being an all-girl institution, she has been able to handle what she considers "lack of freedom" to be a key player for the Chicks.
The former pop kid idol Gim Ji-Eun has a single mission, showing to the Empire that she's very serious about the new career, that of a footballer. Her ability to fulfill several roles with a lot of passion, even if the talent isn't always there, is what made this girl's reputation as a key player for this team become what it is today.
Kimiko Koizumi is really the Chicks' best prospect, though that's nothing to be really proud of, given how little emphasis the institution put at that part of the process. Not that she's bad by any account, but it's pretty much her first experience at any sort of high tier football, something quite alarming. The main reason she's considered the best prospect besides the lack of any other options, is her flawless knowledge of the martial arts, something that helped Eastern Sunrisians in the past.

TSUTSUJI UNIVERSITY
Kitsunemachi, Tsutsuji
Titles:
2138 Book of Athena
Top Player: Nanami Momozono (CF, 20 y/o, HIN)
Names to Watch: Tomoe Mikage (RM/LW, 21 y/o, HIN), Mizuki Yonomori (LM/LW, 20 y/o, HIN), Heldeburgis Moitessier (GK, 18 y/o, CMT)
The first ever champions of the Book of Athena and last season's runner-ups see their final season with their three starlets as a group. Tomoe Mikage's final season at the university level, seeing as he graduates by the end of the season, is the first sign of the end of an era in Tsutsuji football. The Foxes did bring in some credible players but it remains to be seen if they'll have the same success as the trio, who are now busy planning a departure party, preferably with a title.
Let's be very honest, the Tsutsuji Foxes' football team owes loads to the trio of Momozno, Mikage and Yonomori. Nanami Momozono is the trio's leader, a fantastic centre-forward with a lot of heart and skills to boot. Tomoe Mikage, whenever not acting as the more mature of the trio, is the all-out contact guy, a player that goes after any sort of collision to force defenders out, something he turned out to be pretty good at. He's also surprisingly good at making defenders go after him. Mizuki Yonomori is the talented one, a dribbler at heart that is hard to keep tracks of. The trio works like a machine, usually to good results, as evidenced from their title win.
Heldeburgis Moitessier is an interesting character, one of many Chromatik players that looked for a place to hone their craft before moving back to their homeland for higher education. Alas, things didn't really work out and he was soon looking for a place to attend at the Empire. One thing led to another and he's now the one between the bars for Tsutsuji University.

UCHINA STATE UNIVERSITY
Irohashima, Uchina
Titles:
None
Top Player:
Names to Watch:
Last season was a definitive struggle to stick on the top tier for the Rockers out of Uchina State. An undeniable lack of fortune up front and a rather unreliable defence meant that the team simply didn't deliver in the end, finding themselves near the bottom, avoiding it after a couple of key wins. The team's manager chose to stick with the team from last season, recruiting only one promising player from the former Joseon Region.
Image
UME-ABURANA UNIVERSITY
Aoyoh, Ume-Aburana
Titles:
None
Top Player:
Names to Watch:
Ume-Aburana's All-Blacks are another team seeing a change, the departure of both Usagi Tsukino and Luna Nyakuri. Both players have been key in carrying the team out of Aoyoh to two playoff runs, this despite having a team that wasn't really of the calibre. The duo might be sorely missed next season, but the All-Blacks do intend to make it the most of their two greatest players for this final season. It's only fair.

WILLIAMS INSTITUTE OF PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEVELOPMENT
Nina, Sendoki
Titles:
None
Top Player:
Names to Watch:
Possibly the one institution that kind of made sense to be promoted, the Mean Purple out of Williams Institute, a small hi-tech institute in the middle of the Sendoki province that was established to create talented humans of sound mind and body. The team's lack of experience ended up being their biggest problem, however, and they saw themselves eliminated at the semi-finals against Nakoruru College. Their group of unknowns has been, according to reports, looking forward to introducing the world to their kind of football.

ZEPPELIN UNIVERSITY
Daiyawayasu, Somei-Yoshino
Titles:
None
Top Player:
Names to Watch:
One of the main private Somei-Yoshino universities, the Zeppelin University is named after the foundation that shares the same name. To those that are inexperienced in youth football affairs in the Empire, this team is related to the Zeppelin Foundation side at the All-Hinodejin Youth Football League and serves as a feeder side for this team. This season is actually very promising for the Ripples, seeing as they just happen to see the addition of two key players from their feeder's champion team last season, increasing a mostly competent team into a possible powerhouse.

ZORA INSTITUTE
Misakinawa, Misashima
Titles:
None
Top Player:
Names to Watch:
The Zoras were expected to be a contender for the Book of Athena but were stymied right against a surprise team in the University of the Pacific. With a mostly good team, their recruiting was devoted to picking up some useful pieces that the team could use while developing their stars, such as multi-athlete Kavon Iperkova.

THE CROWN OF FLOWERS
Overall first place
Trofmenge Sebbenqi out of Tamani, Turanitai, the Hinodejin Empire

The goblin surfer managed to keep a string of really good performances at the waves, including six hits into the 130 or more club, something that would end up being very useful, considering the situation we had in this tournament. By 3.5 points, Sebbenqi wins the Crown of Flowers, the award for most points overall.
THE SANDALS OF ARRIVAL
Best placed foreign talent
Llefwdd yMwbham out of Llandy, Ko-oren

In order to attract foreign talent, financial aid is granted to the best foreign talent participating in the Hinodejin Ho'omalu Nalu. Llefwdd's debut season was pretty impressive, although she lacked a victory at any stage, something Cheyenne Roeditch was at least able to do. Still, thanks to her points, she deserves the Sandals of Arrival.
THE STAFF OF THE KAHUNA
Overall first place
Trofmenge Sebbenqi out of Tamani, Turanitai, the Hinodejin Empire

In a year where eleven stage winners were determined, the title of the Kahuna went to whoever had the most points amongst the members of that group. Trofmenge Sebbenqi won at Takarahama, Ainushima and managed to keep great performances throughout the season, leaving the season with the Staff of the Kahuna as well.
