Kutor

For the past two years, Kutor had been having this feeling from the stars. It was a strange feeling that made her become antsy, almost couldn't calm down with the amount of stress the stars were calling to her.

She told the Chieftain that she needed some time alone, mediate on herself, maybe go away and explore a bit. She went to pray at the newly built shrine and figure what is her higher purpose in life.

Action: Meditates on the Calling and figures out her true calling.

The Aslani

The first child of the reborn Aslani tribe was it first death and was painfully for the tribe. The child parents Zari and Naghi were heartbroken over the ordeal. The infant named Reza lasted a few months before death claimed him. The rest of the clan consoled the two over their loss. The parents rarely being apart after the funeral of their child.

Zari wanted guidance from the gods if there was a way to save her child and to help protect future children of the Aslani. Gria Smya was supposed to where the clan will thrive not die. To follow that vision, she needed to see if the gods could help her. Using what she knew and what Kevah had taught her about the gods of the Aslani. She started the ritual and drew the symbols in the ground around where she sat.

Naghi while his wife was communing with the gods, chose to focus his grief into his work. After Kevah came back from the west with news that he had encountered a insect the like of which he has never seen. Different weapons for a spear needed to be made to fight this creature. Kevah had already wounded it but,a new weapon could make the fight with this beast easier for when Atena goes to put down the bug.

Kevah thought that perhaps he see if there are any more creatures like the insect and any other threatening creatures that lived near them. That insect gave him a fright as it emerged from the ground to attack him. He was lucky to get a hit in with his spear before running away. Kevah is not a fighter like Atena is and she should be the one to fight that thing. Instead he would go along the twin rivers eastward to explore. Maybe the area was not as arid like it is to the west and he made it a point to find new wanderers. He found his clanmates in this land, perhaps their are more here and more help would benefit the clan.

Atena would continue her regular hunt of the Aurochs and the fish that live in the twin rivers. She had grow to respect the Aurochs for the meat of food that give and their size. Kevah had told her of his plan to tame the Moa that he found downstream of the twin rivers when the time is right. But for Kaveh's description of them, they sounded like they could be a problem if turned hostile. Perhaps they should try with a creature less likely to eat them and the Auroch could more useful to the clan then just as food. Along with her hunt of them, Atena would study them to see what was the best way to tame these horned creatures.

Mahdi decided to ventured into the near center of Gria Smya to gather the amethyst that is found in the caves. The clan has little interest with the unique stone so far but, it may be usefully for the clan. Mandi like the rest would taught the ways of the Aslani by Kevah. Sometimes a special stone would be used in rituals and ceremonies for their connections to the gods, spirits and even their ancestors. Mandi does not know if this stone has a connection to the gods but, if Zari fails to commune with the gods. Maybe this stone will help her if she fails.

Kevah(M) Scout/Leader - explore east and try to find people to join the tribe
Atena(F) Warrior - hunts Aurochs while studying them and hunting fish was well.
Mahdi(M) Worker - collecting Amethyst
Zari(F) Scholar - commune with the gods
Naghi(M) Scholar - creating different weapon types.

Eshin of Clan Bryre & Meru Telyri
The Western Frontier

Eshin quietly stepped through the tall grass, shuffling through it quietly like a predator hunting its prey. However instead of predatory instincts it was that of caution. The Bryre’s has made little contact with other humans in this valley, and we're seeing the first signs of it. As Eshin grew near he saw a lone woman at the banks.

As he contemplates the existence of human life on these plains other than the Bryre’s, it is interrupted by the violent movement of the spear in the woman's hand stabbing her prey with lightning speed. The sudden movement cause Eshin to flinch, causing the grass that once was sitting on his face to move slightly. Creating a small sound of shuffling grass.

Meru pulled her spear back, fish in tow. She admired it briefly before she heard the shuffling of grass. Knowing that there were wolves in the area she quickly turned the spear to face the possible threat, fish still attached.

Catching sight of a man coming into the clearing she had established for herself, Meru spoke out in her native language. “Who is there?”

Eshin had to listen to the words carefully to understand. Whatever she spoke was a language not familiar to the Bryre's, yet somewhat similar. Eshin cautiously stood up, and carefully spoke, “Eshin of the Bryre’s, I’m on a quest to search these parts.”

A quest she thought, hopefully not like the one I had been sent on. “What have you discovered so far on your quest? I could tell you all about this region and the one to the north of it. Similar environments, very different flora and fauna.” She lowers her spear and sort of waves him towards her lean-to. “Come sit, we can talk and discuss some way I can help your quest. I had been sent on a similar quest by my clan some time ago. They instead packed up and left while I was away.”

Eshin begins to head over to the lone woman. Listening to the words carefully making sure that there would be no such misunderstanding, “I only recently entered the area, I was hoping the smoke from your camp would give me answers to the area, it is fortunate that it was better than I could've imagined. My clan has seen little of people within this area,” said Eshin.

The thought that they hadn’t seen other people was strange to her. She had a large clan, and though the last few years of isolation had left her feeling as if no one else existed here, she knew there were more people out there somewhere. “You are the first person I’ve seen since my clan left me behind. They said I was ‘chosen’ for this quest by the spirits. I feel they made that up to leave me behind.” She puts the fish down on the wooden floor of the lean-to as she pulled out a sharpened stone to cut open the fish. “You said you have a clan. Are they nearby?”

By now Eshin was sitting across the woman, carefully studying the fish she was cutting, yet paying attention to her every word. “Aye, Clan Bryre is it's name. We are just east of here, and living of the lands tasty fruits and vegetation. They sent me to explore the outskirts of the region, to ensure that their are no dangerous beasts about. I have seen many things in these fascinating plains. I don't think you have mentioned your name?”

“Meru of the Clan Telyri. We lived across the mountains north and east of here. You say that your clan is just east? I pretty much ran into you all then.” She ponders for a moment, “I probably should warn you that this land does have wolves roaming across many parts of it. That’s why I turned around ready to strike. Though, I do have to admit, I am no warrior. I don’t think I’d make it if the wolves actually snuck up on me like that.” She pulls some fish meat out and offers it to Eshin.

“I appreciate the information Meru,” said Eshin, “It will help keep my clan safe from many dangers of the wild. Anyways, what is this quest you have? Is it truly been given to you by the spirits?” His eyes shined with curiosity. The spirits rarely give out quests or even communicate to his tribe. It was a rare opportunity indeed.
Yep indeed

Meru shakes her head, “The quest was told to me as this ‘Cross the mountains into the fertile valley, discover the source of life and return.’ As my clan’s Keeper explained it, the spirits wanted me to find the source of the valley’s life, collect a sample and return. So I came here, found where the river began, far to the north in a mountainous region, and returned to my clan. When I got back, they had all left. Only a few scattered belongings had been left behind by them. I don't think there was any quest. I think the Keeper needed an excuse to get rid of his First in favor of his own son.”

Eshin looked on as she told the story. He listened closely as Meru spoke faster than most other people. He nodded in understanding and replied, “Or maybe they were forced to move because of some other things? Maybe the spirits sent them farther away as a test.”

Smirking, Meru shrugged as she took a bite of the fish. “Whatever the reason, they were not there so I returned to the Valley. About half the tribe didn’t like me much anyway. Said that I was endangering the tribe with my study of the various animals and plants around us. ‘Angering the spirits’ many would say. In my opinion, they were just jealous that I had been chosen as the Keeper’s first at eight. Of course, if I’m right, he got rid of me when I was thirteen. Making me the youngest chosen and youngest abandoned First in our clan’s history.

The pair talked at length for some time. Eshin spending a few days in Meru’s company as she explained to him how best to grow wheat. She gave him a rabbit skin sack full of seeds as a gift before he left.

“You are welcome to come back to Clan Bryre with me if you want.” Eshin said, remembering one of his personal goals for this quest. “The people would be most pleased to meet you, and having another scholar around would benefit the clan greatly.”

Meru thought about it, but ultimately declined. “I don’t think I am ready just yet to join up with a clan. If I get into any sort of danger, I’ll come looking for you all. Be sure to visit from time to time. I do enjoy the company. Or if someone else wants to come by, just send them along. I would like to meet everyone eventually.”

Eshin departs for home satisfied with his findings to the west of his clan. He was even bringing home a large number of seeds to try and cultivate a field of wheat along with the clan’s current barley fields.

Eaves of the Nearwood, Firsthome
7th of Icemoon, Year Nine

Through the frozen foliage Ivan ran, breath harsh in his chest, daggers of chill air hacking at his lungs. Branches heavy with snow snapped aside at his passage sending their brilliant white burdens tumbling down to join the cold morass that covered the normally verdant soil of the Nearwood. Frigid grass crunched underfoot as the fur shoes of the young man crumbled down through the thin layer of ice that coated the soft snow. His pace did not falter, a child of the wilds accustomed to heavy labor, but still ahead of him the shadow of the red deer faded from view slowly, its swift legs carrying it faster even than the son of the Keen-Folk could sprint. His eyes judged the distance, mottled sunlight mixed with the twilight of the woods making the range to his quarry hard to guess. No point in trying to spear it from so far- that would merely lose time, and his prey would be gone for certain then.

But then Ivan's gait carried him past a familiar symbol, and his pace slackened. From a snowbank nearby a much larger figure rose, his father, Petyor, springing from ambush. The white coating the thick fur cloak the elder Rurik bore had disguised where he laid waiting for the pursuit to bring his quarry to grief, and unerringly the older man's flint-tipped spear flew, taking the beast just behind its forelimbs. A startled wail passed the deer's snout before it bounded off to one side anew, passing between pursuer and ambusher, but Ivan's run came down to a trot in moments regardless even as the beast passed out of sight away to the north.

His father walked over, shaking the snow from his body and clothing, and smiled gladly at his panting son. Ivan had not ten winters under his belt, but was already helping in some integral ways with the work of the tribe. Learning the rhythms of the seasons, of martial prowess and the vagaries of nature. It was knowledge that would serve him and the Hvasskyn well in the years to come.

A wordless gesture to the tired and panting near-child, and the two hunters departed to follow the blood-trail of their kill. The red deer had fallen to earth less than ten minutes walk further into the forest, and the pool of its exsanguination stained the pristine landscape scarlet, a thick black lake under the deep shadows of the woods beneath the setting sun. It was fully sundown by the time the two had borne the carcass back to the warmth of stockade and the Mother Tree, but they were greeted gladly. Such was the way of the Keen-Folk, to take what was needed from the bounty of the Maker's country, respectful but masters of that which had been given.

Year Nine

Abundant food supplies.
Tribe troubled by aggressive bear who sets up den near food supplies.
A child is born to the Maelon, mother and child both healthy.

Abundant food supplies.
Jeth's wound healed with scar.
Rudimentary Medical Care

Abundant food supplies.
Artor is healed of his wounds.
Rudimentary Medical Care
No children are born.

Ample food.
Many scaled cats killed, predators recede from area around tribe.
Mining stone fails, very little stone returned from the east due to poor tools.
No copper spears crafted - the tribe is out of copper ore. The small furnace Katya erects must wait, for the amount of stone Kozlov returns with comes late in the year and small in amount.
South of the south-east Kiroz great mountains rise up from a dusty plain, teeming with: Goats, Mountain Leopards, and Galena Ore.

Drought ravages the oases of the Clan's territory, but diligent gathering means the people have enough to eat regardless.
Simple plantfiber garments, woven with great labor, are added to the Honori, enough for three people. Rudimentary Weaving.
West the arid plains expand seemingly forever, the air growing drier. Upon the shifting sand walk loud camels with one hump, rude and hostile, giant scorpions which prey upon the camels, and opals glitter in the dry red desert sand. Shanti is unlucky, and stung by one of the formidable scorpions, returning home very sick with the creature's venom.
South of the Honori a wide river passes through the dry parched land, life teeming upon its banks. Maize flourishes here, alongside crocodiles and goats, and gold glints in the riverbed. A wild woman named Naramsina does Arki encounter as well.

Enough food.
Work on the Stone Circle continues apace. Brutus, in a flash of insight, determines that better tools or more laborers might aid with the construction's advancement. Stone Circle: (60%)

Abundant food- a beached armor-whale feeds the tribe well.
The small mud-daub kiln built by Mara collapses in the first winter rains, having barely been used. Better materials will have to be sourced for a more sturdy construction.
Aiden's scouring of the known lands turns up no new persons to be joined to the tribe.

Ample food.
Sova Bryre recovers from her illness well enough, and is hale by the year's end.
Dividing the tribe's efforts between gathering rocks, food, and metals, the small amount of hematite retrieved by the labors resists any efforts to shape it into much more than heavy rocks to be thrown.
Successfully hunted sheep yield the knowledge that the woolen creatures are made of blood and bone, much like the folk of the Clan.
To the west a great verdant river flows through rolling plains. Tall beasts with silvered hides walk here on two legs, long teeth betraying a predatory nature, taking their fill of the antelope that teem in the long grasses. In the mighty river abundant fish nearly fill the streams in great shoals.

Abundant food.
Primitive Medicine.
Several bronze axes are forged, slightly reducing wrought copper and tin ore supplies. Primitive Bronzework, Primitive Smithing.
Northeast of east Sylvia travels, following the Great River. Into wide forested hills she emerges after a time, the river growing less wild. Wheat, golden fields, grows abundantly here, alongside fluffy white cotton. In a blasted clearing of great size she comes across a buried mountain that glitters like silvered starlight, meteoric iron.

Enough food.
Smoking.
Small wooden palisade completed, causing minor deforestation.
Uli fashions a copper pickaxe with great labor, having to gather the copper themselves. The tool is crude, and bends swiftly when wielded against stone, but is much superior to merely using a rock.
Southward the verdant river peters out, turning into a small series of meandering streams that gather in the plains. Here great stands of wheat ripple from horizon to horizon, and antelope frolic with no predators to deter them in their vast herds. Pillars of white salt spring up from the nearly treeless landscape, towering above man and beast alike.

Ample food.
Zhou Nanfeng recovers in due course.
The lands of the Fergdun Clan are wide and bountiful, much warmer than the boreal forest in which the Zhou Clan make their home. Beavers teem in the warm river there, and white fields of cotton plants. Stands of edible grasses and a few nodules of rubies does Zhou Ping also notice, aside from the small mud-hut village of the other tribe.
A child is born to the tribe, healthy as its mother.

Ample food.
Shaping the wood of the region keenly, Naghi manages to produce a long spear, one twice the length of the other weapons the tribe uses, with a heavy end to plant in the earth to support the tip. This 'pike' might be able to keep a rampaging creature far enough away to avoid much of the danger of closing with a spear.
To the east of the Aslani the land dries up and becomes parched, green giving way to dust where the two rivers that flow through the region do not run. Rich gypsum can be found along the banks of the rivers here, though the spear-fish that inhabit the shallow pools are a danger to travelers. Large humped camels make their homes amid the dunes, drinking from the rivers when they have need.

Cadmus,Great Bay

Another year had passed and already the Cadmians had made so much progress. The Great Stone Circle was near completion, arrayed in the blessed symbol of Arkane, perhaps it was imaginary but a purpose had swelled in the hearts of the Cadmians, was it faith? Some mystical power?Divine providence? Who knew, no mortal could tell what the gods desired only that they acted in mysterious ways. The people of the Great Bay did not know only that they felt the gods had given them a divine duty to complete their mission on the earth.

It was difficult of course much heartbreak through the years but they knew that they would succeed in achieving something great. Brutus continued to lead the tribe in positioning the stones. Secundus with his strong tanned frame hoisted the ropes and lifted another stone into place. He looked at Marsillia and smiled."Truly we are doing the gods work on Terratus". Marsillia held a vase of salted fish smiled and kissed her husband. She didn't know what to say only that the future must have had great things in store for the Cadmians.

Meanwhile, little Titus began exploring around the village. He foraged for edible mushrooms and tubers and began making observations of the black-shelled creatures they fascinated the young Cadmian and made him wonder why the gods would design such a creature his curiosity only grew from then on.

Aurelia, Brutus, and Secundus construct Standing Stone
Marsillia gathers food
Titus observes the Black-shelled creatures to learn anything about them, also explores around the village foraging for shrooms and tubers.

The Honori People
Troubles arise, but the people survive.

Shanti stumbled home through parched land as far as the eye could see. Through dirt and sand and dead grass, the return home was exhausting... He found his people just as thirsting as the land. His return was met with the horrified eyes of his family. His foot, which had been stung by the strange hard-shelled insect in the later part of the time of long night, had turned green, and was swollen up to the ankle. He could hardly put pressure on it, and was forced to walk with a stick to simply get by. Homa, who had seen something remotely close to this in her youth, took this with the upmost seriousness, for the injury could easily be deadly. Shanti was sent to lay down inside the shelter, and ordered to move as little as possible. He would be sequestered there, given as much food and drink as they could, the best of it they had, until his healing-... or more likely passing. Prayers would be said in his name, and Homa scrambled to find a basic remedy to this, be that an herb, a remedy... or amputation.

The drought had been rough on the clan's food supplies, but still they managed to get by. Progress had been made on several fronts, and they at least now knew their surroundings. Shanti was given the first set of clothes, to keep warm in the long and frigid nights, aswell as Homa, due to her age, and Arki, upon her return, for it was hoped she would become a mother. The two siblings, Suki and Juli, still ever worked in the Amberrush fields, attempting to scrape by enough to feed them all, while Arki, upon her return, would be sat upon the task of learning to weave from Homa's instructing, and creating more basic clothes for them all. Hats, shoes, etc. Arki had accepted Juli's offer to bear his children, with seemingly little resistance, for they had become agreeable with eachother, and that was enough. Yuni said prayers over her friend, tended to him, and attempted to help Homa with whatever she could do. Times seemed dire for the people of the night, and it was hoped and begged unto the gods for mercy in the seasons to come.

Shanti Rests as much as possible, and is fed before all others.
Homa and Yuni tend to Shanti, and attempt to find a remedy to his ailment
Yuni and Juli cultivate the Amberush and Assurush
Arki weaves primitive clothing from Assurush fibers
Arki and Juli attempt to bear children

"... It is believed that the mother brings her kindness and mercy upon those who deserve it. That, just as she cares for all life upon this land, she will shed her kindness to the sick, the injured, children born and unborn. She will inspire the tender, and send good spirits their way to protect the ailed. For the skin is a barrier, it is a shield. And there are weaknesses in that shield, holes in the wall, inwhich both good and bad spirits can come and go. The mouth, the eye, the ear, the nose. We taste food, see the light, and hear the wind as perceiving some of the soul of the land. But too can there be things which create holes artificial in our defenses. Cuts, bites, stabs, and the like that break the skin, can let in evil spirits, and lead do grave disease, and a quick death. Only by ingesting the power and essence of good spirits, might the evil ones be fended off, and the healthy balance inside the human soul can be maintained..."

Fergdun Clan, Folk of the Cotton-Beaver River and Ruby Hills

With the clan's crises firmly in the past, the hands and minds of the Fergdun once again fall idle. They had spent so much of the past few years reacting, that the sudden realization of a true calmness was, ironically, a shock. The days after Jeth's wound scarred up were long ones, especially to the children, who had been more or less left to their own devices in the past year. Seeking an end to their boredom in the days after Jeth's recovery, Jean spoke up an dinner one night, asking a simple question:
"What now?"

For once, even the quick-witted Maer was astonished. They had spent so much time and effort in Jeth's recovery - which had been rewarded - that none of them, not even Maer, gave a second though to the next year, beyond sending Dia and the children into the garden and Whit to hunt. "What now?" was the question all of the tribe was asking, and the answer came from an unlikely source - the usually quiet and reserved Jeth. He'd been injured in the summer, so his usually protective hidewear was stowed at camp. Simple hidewear was effective at keeping the animals' tusks away from the body, and was very effective in storing heat - but it was too effective. The spring and summer heat would be trapped and one would be forced out of the hides that covered the torso, losing vital protection, not just from beasts, but from the wasps, gnats, and mosquitoes that would assault the body in summer and early autumn. He asked Maer for something lighter than hides and better than nothing.

But what material would these new clothes be made of?

Beaver and Boar hides were plenty, but they were the problem. The clan pondered for a while, until all eyes fell upon the resting Whia, who was resting atop a beaver hide cot. More accurately, they fell on was was keeping her warm in the winter's chill - the cotton blanket. Cotton was lightweight - the clan's blankets could be carried together even by the still-growing Jean - and it breathed well in summer and kept heat in winter. This material that grew alongside and partially named the river that the clan camped next to would provide the solution. Maer and Dia stepped up to attempt again to produce clothing from the bolls, but now with the experience of weaving blankets for the tribe, perhaps they could succeed.

Jeth himself would not be in camp - at first he wanted to go upstream again and slay the boar that had gored him, but he was talked down by his wife into simply hunting the beaver. He announced, however, that he would not go alone. He would bring young Jean along for his hunt, as it was nearing time for his second soul-scrying, and by the clan's reckoning, time to experience life outside the camp.

Whit too would be away from camp, exploring eastward, where he'd never been. The thought had always been in his mind, but the past years' events had prevent his departure into the rays of the rising sun.

Maer and Dia collect cotton and work to produce rough clothing from it. (Rudimentary Weaving)
Jeth goes hunting beaver, with Jean in tow.
Whit explores East.
An returns to the work the garden, with Whia assisting in small ways.

The Land of Lordaeron

Praise the Light

By the light is armored whale is delicious. It was a minor act of the light when one morning the tribe was awakened with the moans of the beached creature. After eating their fill the scholars among them wondered the secrets of such a great beast. As Aiden reported he felt like Vistra was the only on he could find he said his next task was to venture north, to the lands the tribe had originaly inhabited before migrating south to the land of Lordaeron.

The duo of Varian and Vestubian continued turning hunting into an art form. Between the two the tribe knew hunger would be a as distant as it could in such a world. The children were growing up slowly but surely as the light seemed to radiated from the three of them. Mara hopped a builder would come from at least one of them as she needed the help.

Verge of the Nightwood, Firsthome
First Day of Seedtime, Tenth Year

In Petyor's callused hands the heartwood handle thrummed, a pleasant rhythm of labor given nearly imperceptible voice as the axe he wielded bit into the flesh of the mighty pine that stood less than a thousand strides from the village. The keen lustrous bronze hacked through bark and sturdy wood slowly but surely, holding an edge where copper would falter, not splintering or breaking like humble flint. It was a new idea of the Keen-Folk, to take the entirety of a forest giant for their uses instead of merely what branches or boughs time and wind dislodged. Previously it would have been the heights of lunacy, to think that man could topple a tree as thick as his span and as tall as the clouds, but with the new tools forged by the cunning of Maria and Jarn such astounding feats might well be contemplated.

And thus contemplated they were, and put into action. There were many dreams of what could be done with such a formidable length of sturdy timber; raising buildings that could endure like the trees, or not harvest wood for fires again until the year beyond the next. They were dreams that bore with investigation, and thus Petyor labored. Under his repeated blows the great pine's white flesh cracked and groaned, and up the worker cast his eyes, carefully judging the tree's inclination.

Then he stepped back, mind decided. A moaning and creaking came from the giant.

"She falls!" yelled the worker. Nobody he knew of was here at hand, but it never hurt to be too careful. Similar warnings would the ruddy man have voiced if he was putting his mind to chiseling stone in the quarry, for chips of rock could do damage if one looked at them too closely and an errant shard hit face or eye. It was good practice, and well thought of, for anon the forest giant began to topple. The noise of its descent was as the rushing of the Great River when the spring rains swelled it to nearly breaking its banks, the brush of ten thousand pine needles against the trees around it as if the Maker was slicing through a fur to make a cloak to cover the sky.

Beneath Petyor's feet the ground reverberated, shuddering under the weight of the great tree as branches cracked and the thick trunk struck soil. A wide smile split the laborer's face as he gazed upon the felled giant. There was still much work to do; it would take most of the tribe several days to haul the immense pine back to the village, even with the small rollers of branch and log that had already been prepared for the task. But here, with this small glistening axe, the Hvasskyn had found the key to many beginnings.

Jarn Nemtsov (Scholar) shapes bronze knives (5) for use in skinning, tanning, and detail work
Maria Nemtsov (Scholar) does light physical labor tending the melon groves and expanding their extent with new plantings
Petyor Rurik (Worker) fells a great pine with a new bronze axe, and works to finish the stone stockade
Natalya Rurik (Worker) begins work on a large fenced in pasture in the meadows of Firsthome
Sylvia (Scout) returns from the far north-east with seeds of cotton and wheat which she scatters about the wild country of her home, hunting and foraging near Firsthome
The union of Jarn and Maria seeks a child, for her childbearing years soon depart

Ivan Nemtsov (Young Warrior) hunts with Sylvia, learning from her of tracking and ways to move silently alone
Vladimir Nemtsov (Young Scholar) aids his mother in cultivating the melon groves, understanding more of soil and seed
Talia Rurik (Young Worker) helps her father with engraving the stockade, learning the symbols and signs of the Keen-Folk
Nadia Rurik (Young Scout) hunts with Sylvia and Ivan
Quite the unofficial fellow. Former P2TM Mentor specializing in faction and nation RPs, as well as RPGs. Always happy to help.

Clan Serys

Days Gone By

As the day dawned, the clan found itself in a decent position. Artor felt much better, over the past time he and Kharyn had found a number of good rules and principles to hold to when treating cuts, wounds and bruises. He had been the subject of the "experiments" but now they knew what to do to help if someone else was to get hurt, things such as keeping the would clean were imperative, as was the need to keep the wrappings clean and changing them often, a smaller strip could be used to stem the flow of blood by tying it tight above the wound but it could not be kept to long. Artor went back to his tool-making attempts while Zvad kept hunting in the hills in the north of their home, while Artor did want to know what was in the western land following the river, Zvad would stay back at camp for now. Ellyn and Lia continued their gathering trips, but Artor commanded Ellyn to try to build two new homes for the clan, simple teepees covered in hides stripped from the sheep that Zvad hunted. Indeed, both Zvad's, Ellyn's and Lia's attempts had produced much food, and so Kharyn set about trying to devise ways in which they could preserve it so that it would not soon rot and go bad.

Artor once again tries to devise better tools.
Kharyn attempts to develop new ways to preserve their food by drying and smoking.
Ellyn gathers sweetplums and attempts to build two rawhide teepees.
Lia goes with Ellyn to gather sweetplums.
Zvad goes out with spear, bow and arrows, hunting sheep in the hills for meat and hides..
Zvad and Lia often spend the night in each other's arms.
Artor and Kharyn often spend their nights close together.

The Herrian Tribe

(To make up for last year's no story, I will tell what happened last year too)

On year 9, the tribe was successful in their hunt. They managed to protect their food supply from the scaled cats, and in return, hunted down some of the scaled cats. They also hunted few other edible animals throughout the year, that they smoked and added to their food supply. As for their development, Katya and Kozlov were able to forge out two copper spearheads, but the shaft to hold them wasn't available yet, and a lot of waste was left from the forging process. As for Kiroz, he returned right as the tribe was preparing for the year end ritual, where he soon told the tribe that he found another cold land like where the tribe currently lived, with abundance of three animals, which were goats, camels, and wolves.

And those were the tale of year 8. Now, in year 9, the tribe decided to improve from year 8. In the new year, few days after the ritual, where the tribe danced, sang, prayed, and sacrificed part of their food supply to show their devotion to the Being and hoping that the Being would protect them, the tribe met again in the fireplace after Kizirh got a dream again from the Being. After some talking, the tribe went to their respective duty.

Kizirh and Zikov would hunt down more of the scaled cats, to protect their tribe, while Kiroz would explore the area south of southeast. As for Katya and Kozlov, they would continue raising their child, as well as doing their respective duties. Since the copper forging from last year left a lot of waste, and there wasn't a shaft for the spearheads yet, Katya came up with the idea to build a furnace in order to get more heat while heating up the copper, reducing waste, while Kozlov would go to the land eastward of the tribe, that Kiroz had explored before, in order to mine stones and chop a pine to make the wood into a shaft for the spear.

Throughout the year, Kiroz went exploring into the unknown, while Kizirh and Zikov defended the village, but also actively went on the place where they saw the scaled cats, hunting them down. As for Katya, she waited for the materials from Kozlov, who was mining stones and chopping a pine in the east. Soon, the results revealed itself at the end of the year. While the existing copper spearheads can be fitted with a shaft (OOC: I assume that spearhead means they don't have a shaft), no new copper spears were crafted due to obvious lack of copper mined. As for the furnace, it had to wait unfortunately as Kozlov was unable to mine a lot due to poor tools. As for Kiroz, he found an ore, as well as two kinds of animals, in the tundra, including a camel, which improved the tribe's knowledge as they now knew that camels could also live on the cold of their land in addition to the desert. And as for the hunt, many scaled cats died, and the survivors escaped from the land.

And now, year 10. Katya and Kozlov's child, Kiril, still had to be raised as he was three years old now. However, he could now speak some words, walk, and eat food, while learning the world around him, curiously observing things. Meanwhile, for Kizirh, he had yet another vision in his dream from the Being, this time showing another copper tool being forged, but a lot of waste was produced, and then the worker going east again with a warrior, and using a copper tool to mine stones. It then showed a furnace being constructed. As for Kiroz, he went further south, from the land he already explored in the south. Then the vision showed a furnace being constructed.

Then, the vision ended, and Kizirh woke up. He soon decided to wake up Zikov and Kiroz, who were in the same hut as him, and after waking them, went outside and into Katya and Kozlov's hut to woke them up. They, along with their child, soon woke up. After that, they went to the fireplace to talk again about what to do in the year. Katya and Kozlov decided to talk about trying to make a furnace again, and making a copper pickaxe before mining the stone, and they also wanted another child. Meanwhile, Kiroz talked of going south. Zikov then said that he wanted to accompany Kozlov on his trips, to protect him. After some time, the tribe reached an agreement and went on to work.

Kizirh (Leader/Warrior): Defend the tribe and help out with constructing the furnace
Zikov (Warrior): Help Kozlov mine the stones with his stone tool, and protect him from predators with his weapon.
Katya (Scholar): Make a pickaxe with the copper Kozlov mined, and then build a furnace with the stones Kozlov mined
Kozlov (Worker): Mine some copper, enough to make one pickaxe, before going to the east to mine stones once the pickaxe is finished
Kiroz (Scout): Explore to the south of the South

Vestubian of Lordaeron
Year 10, Age 14

Early in the Year:

“I have spoken to the light!” Vestubian started running though the tribe shouting aloud, “The Light has spoken to me!”

“What is the meaning of this!” Varian shouted. Vestubian skidded to a halt, and turned to face the warrior.

“I mean what I say, the Light has shown me the way.” Vestubian muttered nervously. Some members of the tribe whispered among themselves, Vestubian was never known for being one of the faithful. Varian could see tensions start to rise in the tribe, some thought Vestubian was mocking them.

“We will have none of this talk! The Light simply guides us.” Varian explained, “Besides, you did not take well to your teachings.”

“But I see that I was wrong now, I hav-”

“Enough!” Varian shouted, he stared Vestubian directly in the eyes. He could usually tell if Vestubian was playing a trick on them, but right now he saw sincerity. Varian was torn, but the others of the tribe were being bothered by Vestubian’s claims. He grumbled at Vestubian to get ready for the hunt, and left this matter to rest.

However, even after the hunt, Vestubian did not leave the matter to rest. He started openly meditating in the tribe, further communing with the light. Calia took notice of this, and actually believed Vestubian. They met in secret, she questioned him on his findings and what the Light spoke of, and they both wrote in down on sheepskin scrolls. These scrolls would form the first guidelines of worshiping and communing with the Light, but for now, they kept it secret from the rest of the tribe.

Late in the Year:

Vestubian and Varian came back from a very successful hunt, they had managed to catch three sheep as as well as catching one. Vestubian took the captured sheep, while Varian struggled to carry three killed sheep to the tribe. As they were arriving, Vestubian’s sight was suddenly blinded with light, and a voice boomed in his head, “He is in pain send him to us.” Vestubian was so dazzled by the light and the message that he ran into Varian. The warrior grunted, and looked to Vestubian with some concern. Vestubian mumbled “I’m fine” as he took the sheep to the corral.

Then shouts started emerging, the tribe was gathering to see the commotion, Vistra was seen carrying Aiden, who had a massive cut on his thigh. The blood had soaked through his clothes and was starting to spill on Vistra. The tribe went into a frantic panic as people rushed around to try to do what they could. After about an hour of panic, there came a gloomy mood/ Aiden wasn’t expected to survive, the leg was already infected. Aiden was given his own hut so the scholars had enough space to heal him. Vestubian thought that this was what the vision had warned him, that he would have to find some way to bring Aiden to the Light so he could be healed.

Luckily Calia was watching over him, and as Vestubian explained his vision and what he planned to do she gave him the space and privacy to do so. Vestubian then started to meditate and commune with the Light. Once he had made the connection he reached out to Aiden as he slept. Once he touched him, a great weight fell on top of Vestubian, he had brought Aiden to the Light but his mind and soul were not as closely connected as his own. Vestubian had to use his energies to lift him to the higher plane.

The night went on, Natalia was sent in to relieve Calia’s shift watching over Aiden. But as she walked in she saw Vestubian meditating and holding Aiden while Calia watched. She was about to warn the others until she saw Aiden’s wound, it was nearly healed. The flesh and skin seemed to slowly stitch itself, and the infection slowly burned away. Even though there was a sizable cut still there, it had gotten much better. Calia explained that it took over 3 hours to get to this point, and that it would probably take until morning. Natalia could do very little but nod, she was so awestruck about this series of events. She simply joined Calia to watch Vestubian do his work.

The tribe awoke this morning to the excited shouts of Aiden. He had started to regale his journey on meeting the Light, and how they had spoken to him and saved him. The tribe started listing douzens of questions for him on what they said and how did he speak to the Light. This is where Aiden nervously chuckled and explained how it was Vestubian who had brought him to the Light. Sheepish looks were passed around the tribe, in particular Varian who had thought Vestubian was playing another prank as he told the tribe about speaking to the Light. The tribe then proceed to move to ask Vestubian about his exploits and knowledge of the light until they were stopped by Calia.

“The ritual had left Vestubian very weak,” Calia explained, “he has grown sick. But not to worry, he is currently resting well and will recover.” The tribe left Vestubian to rest, for he had gotten a weak fever. But as the days went by he recovered, and started teaching his people the way of the Light.

Rest of the Year:

Vestubian will help Varian hunt, and while he is not doing that he will work with Calia to write out how to commune with the Light as well as unlocking one’s magic potential. After the second event in the year Vestubian will work with the tribe to organise a religion of the “Holy Light”

Kutor, Xcotl

The stars seemed to speak to the young girl, six voices spoken to her and each one showed her a life worth living but only one proved the most interesting, and the most needed.

The path of a shaman, one that holds the hidden mysteries close to the heart. The path of the Myths that had been gathered and the death of Xo came to mind. The tribe suffered from living in the arid landscape and this could be even more dangerous without a direct link to the Ancestors and the Dead Goddess.

She will be their guide, the way to understanding the mysterious powers of the world and to bring the tribe, or at least herself, to survive the harshness of this world.

Action:Kutor specializes in being a shaman

Xcotl,
Decatorial Myth

With the use of the palisades, the tribe felt safe against the harshness of the wilderness and the Great Wolves. The chieftain had saw that they have enough food to survive as of right now and the river can provide the fertility of using corn and Zuma had found both wheat and antelope, things that can help with more food. The chieftain as of right now had started to look at ways of trying to improve the well-being of the tribespeople and started to try and look into leatherworking in trying to make clothes and defenses for when they go hunting.

One worker had started to try and go pick the wheat seeds and try to plant them as another goes and hunt the majestic Antelop in order to bring back more food. Zuma had decided to try and equip himself with a spear and help Opono gather Tin with the copper pickaxe. It would be a trek back to their former home but the threat of Great Wolves are always a threat.

Tenchitanzula starts working on leatherworking to make clothes and armor from cowhide
Uli equips a copper spear and goes hunting for antelop
Opono equips a copper pickaxe and goes mining for tin east of the village
Zuma equips a copper spear to protect Opono from danger and help carry tin back to the village
This account must be deleted. The person behind it is a racist, annoying waste of life that must be shunned back to whatever rock he crawled out from.

The Rise of Magic
Year Ten

Enough food
The Stone Circle rises, though the final few stones must be dragged from a great distance. 80% complete.
Titus' exploring near the sea-line nearly ends in disaster when one of the large black-shelled creatures lunges out of the waves after the curious child, chomping a bite of flesh from the easy prey it saw. Its articulated legs and eyeless face haunt his dreams even after one of the adults drags him away from the surf.

Ample food.
Shanti recovers with no permanent ill effects. Rudimentary Medical Care.
Tiny assurush grove cultivated.
The small child born to the Honori is sick, and passes after only a month of life, but Akra is well enough despite the pregnancy.

Ample food.
Maer and Dia's work is long and hard, separating the few strands of willowy fabric on each plant from the seeds and vines taking long hours and hundreds of plants to produce a few measly strands of thread. By years end they have amassed a small supply of cotton thread, unkempt but ready for work, but no progress has been made on any clothing.
East of the Fergdun Clan the wide plains away from the river stretch golden and dappled, drier and hotter than the river vale. Giant elk the size of houses roam here, wild and fierce, making their way between stands of glinting red apple trees that cluster in groves. Here and there lustrous black stone of indeterminate origin breaks the soil.
As An sings a song to young Whia in the garden, she notices the edible grasses about her growing strong and tall in moments, almost as if by some supernatural force. The Fergdun Clan has discovered the Song of Growth, which when used can greatly accelerate the maturation of plants, but leaves the singer very weak if they give voice to it often.

Ample food.
The beached armor whale gives Calia the idea of carving off great hunks of the thick leathery skin the beast possesses. What exactly they might be useful for is unknown, but they are very strong and do not rot like most flesh. Even as scavengers carry away much of what the mighty leviathan had been, the armored plates are left untouched.
Natalian works with Mara to make a small clay kiln; it lasts longer than the mud-daub kiln they built before, but when heated hot still cracks and shatters when it cools.
North of north, beyond the highlands of the island, azure water tinged with green beckons. Fish teem in their numbers along the shoreline, and the air and water are cold. Near the horizon on the far side of the water glittering white can be seen, and palest blue.
The people of Lordaeron have discovered the Healing Light- by concentrating on an inner feeling of peace, they may mend small injuries nearly instantly, the process takes from the healer the strength that would have been spent over many days or weeks in healing the injury normally.

Ample food.
Simple Bronzeworking, Simple Smithing.
Melon grove expands.
Large pasture (25%) (-Wood)
Stone Stockade completed.
Maria's labor is long and hard, and the tribe fears she may give birth to a stillborn child, but the Healer's Hand infuses the air and the baby cries long and loud. Medical poultices are exhausted.
As the stockade is completed, the symbols of safety and goodwill cut into the fitted stone flash with a strange silver light, puzzling Petyor. Over several days the tribe notices that a sense of well-being pervades the area near the compound. The Hvasskyn have discovered the Rune of Wellness, which turns back illness and ill-luck when graven into permanent materials. It does not seem to draw on the strength of the wielder, but must be graven with great accuracy to have any effect.

Ample food.
Artor binds a keen hand-axe to a sturdy branch with sinew, creating a Flint Axe.
Smoking.
Two Teepees (4) constructed.
A beautiful girl-child is born to Clan Serys and Lia, but the pregnancy of Artor and Kharyn is much troubled. As she lays in labor her breath comes black with blood, and though the squalling girl-child comes forth well enough, the life leaves Kharyn's body after not much more than a day beyond the birth.

Enough food.
The copper pickaxe is forged, and a small stone furnace erected- it is very fuel hungry, the winds rushing through the gaps in the stones and devouring any wood placed within its bosom. Primitive Smithing. Rudimentary Smelting.
Kiroz, the scout, travels away at the beginning of the year to explore south of the tundra... and fails to return at the end. What he discovered is unknown, but obviously very dangerous.

Ample food.
Aurochs are easy enough to kill, but wild and fierce. None even worth considering taming are discovered.
The fight with the giant insect is desperate, and brutal. The pike, though giving Atena the advantage of reach, fails to penetrate the creature's chitinous armor. She barely manages to escape with her life after the brute strength of the beast shatters her weapon.
5 Flint Hand-Axes.
Wadj Reed, upon inspection, seems to be good for packing wounds to prevent exsanguination.
Smoking.

Abundant food!
A wanderer from far afield, noticing the many gatherers of food near the mountains, joins the tribe. His name is Asmodeus, a 52 year old Scout.

Barely enough food.
+Flint Supply
Improved Flint Blades.
North of Clan Bryre vast plains roll. Here and there the land is riven by immense steamy pools where outcrops of marble may be found, and wading birds make their homes.

Enough food.
Laboriously Xing gathers some of the wild cotton near the Fergdun Clan.
Coal, when heated in the hottest fires the Zhou make, burns merrily and long. This Nanfeng notes. Inklings of Combustion.
East of east a new land unfolds. In this cold tundra moose roam below the snowline, alongside beautiful minks. Also in the snowy forest glittering ice-iron can be found, luminescent blue.
Two children, both boys, are born to Clan Zhou. Zhou Wang is very weak after giving birth, and her strength is slow to recover, her face and body as white as snow in the depths of winter.

Ample food.
Rudimentary Tanning. +several scraped hides, -cowhides
Much tin retrieved.
In the whispers of the girl child Kutor to the night, the people of Xcotl hear answering whispers as the Speak to the Dead. The advice is mumbled, and cryptic, but the first summoning tells of a man taken by the great Worms that stalk the desert, and the wisdom of the Xcotl for staying far away from the beasts. This summoning may only be undertaken rarely at night, and often no voices can be heard. What this costs the speakers is unknown.

The Honori People
Wailing in the night

It was a bittersweet end to the previous year. One life was given, and one life was saved. Shanti sat across from the dying child, and said he saw the poor young boy's soul leave his body when he gave his final breath.
It was Homa's belief that this was a trade mournfully made by the all-mother. One life, for another. The boy's life, for the gift to save life. This began the holiness of healing. But that wouldn't come for many more years, when healers were separated from midwives, from wise-women, from shamans. And in the present, the Honori had a corpse. The small, sickly body was a hollow shell, it's life lifted from it, and now but a sad reminder of what could have been. It was tradition for the Honori to leave the body for the animals, allow it to one day become one with the land. This was presently impossible, given their newfound sedentary lifestyle. And so they would find another way to gift it back to the spirits of the land: Ash. A relatively small pyre for a smaller body, he would be lain in a hole down the hill, far away from the river, and then slowly and mournfully they built up a fire around him. The whole tribe took part, and waited. They cried, they sang, they talked in low voices, until the rosy dawn, when the embers were dead, and all that was left was ash and bone.

Ash and bone. The two things that they would all become upon death. Fire only hastened the turning of skin to ash, and it's relatively low heat mostly preserved the brittle bones, which would one day turn to fine powder by force of the land. The bones were gently picked from the fire, and carefully buried beneath the dirt floor of the hut. The ashes, on the other hand, would make a longer journey. With the family's part of the child now taken care of, they owed the other half to the land, and so they gave him. Partially into the river, partially into the wind, partially scattered in the sands surrounding them, before long the child had become as he had came from, and there he would always be.

And so a return to normalcy slowly crept over the people, as weeks went by and the impact of the loss lessened. The Honori went back to their chores, went back to their workings, went back to their labors. The two siblings worked, just as last year and the year before, in the Amberrush fields: tending to the crops, repairing the short irrigation canals, and warding off pests. Their labors gave the tribe enough food, and the two were respected in their own right- despite their rather simple task. All of them were nicely clothed, thanks to Arki's hard work in the previous year. The tunics were breezy and light- a significant step up from the shawls of various small furs they were used to; it provided them with some additional comfort in their rather uncomfortable living conditions. Yuni and Arki attempt to not exert themselves extensively, and make art offerings to the gods. Shanti attempts to make weapons for future self defense with the resources of the local area. Arki and Juli attempt to bear children, hoping and praying to the divine above for mercy this year. Yuni and Shanti attempt to bear children, giving their hopes and prayers to the gods to not meet the same fate as Arki's child, or worse. Homa, in her position as Shamaness, does her best to tend to the health of the two young women- performing rights to bless them by the gods, giving offerings to the local spirits of all things good, administering proper herbs when needed, and ensuring healthy practices are being followed.

Suki and Juli work cultivating the Amberrush by the river.
Yuni and Arki spend their time making art- be that small carvings, statues, etc, to offer to the gods.
Shanti attempts to create better weapons based upon things he can find in the area.
Homa tends to Yuni and Arki, and attempts to aid their prospective pregnancies the best she can.
Yuni attempts to bear a child with Shanti
Arki attempts to bear a child with Juli

Fergdun Clan, Folk of the Cotton-Beaver River and Ruby Hills.

The past year was one of frustration. The cotton stockpile was non-existent, due to the demand for blankets, and thus Maer and Dia had spent the past year mostly afield from camp, gathering bolls from the brambles that lined the river. The rest of the year was spent making threads small enough for clothing, work that was tedious and often frustrating. It was only the fortunate discovery of the Song of Growth that broke the ill spirit that dominated the Clan. The Great Holy Spirit had intervened, and chosen the hard working An as the one to bear its blessing. She instantly became the clan's object of fascination, and every facet of her daily routine was scrutinized. She rose with the children in the morning, but her song only affected the plants of the garden, not the little ones. After she ate with the clan in the morning, she departed, often with the children in tow, to the garden. Here, she admitted, she sometimes snacked on the seeds and grasses, especially in the early harvest season. More often, however, she sang to the children. This is where the clan collectively discovered the Song's source - a good spirit of the wild, half-bird half-grass, had possessed her, granting it's unique power over growth to her voice. It was quickly decided that the children should learn this song, and they would again be given to An, both as extra hands and as willing pupils, so that hopefully the spirit would call it's kin, and continue to bless the clan.

After giving An her duties for the year, the tribe divided the rest of the duties for the year. Maer and Dia would again work with cotton, but this time they had the resources and experience - they hoped - to make clothing from the threads. Jean, his honor still sore after his goring by the boar, would head north for the first time since his injury. He'd be seeking the boar that had had scarred him, but should it not show, there were plenty more of the wild beasts that would happily meet his challenge. Whit would head northeast, in search of more rare sights, like the massive elk or lightning dogs.

Maer and Dia continue to work with the cotton threads to make rough clothing. (Rudimentary Weaving)
An and Jean work the garden, using the new found Song of Growth sparingly. In the spare whatever spare time there is, the children are taught the words to the song.
Jeth goes upstream to hunt boar again.
Whit goes northeast, to scout the area.
