Kedroiqua is a small nation situated in modern day Denmark. The homogeneous population of 4.3 million Danes live peacefully in clean cities with great infastructure. Our football team hopes to have a wonderful time in the World Cup 81 qualifiers and hopefully beyond.
It is Kedroiquas honor to present the World Cup 81 squad of the Kedroiqua National Football Team. It is presented in a 4-3-1-2 formation.

Qualifying Home Stadia:

Avenhelm Castle
Mên-a-Gwydngala, Swyftlandre Province
Capacity: 60,000
Site for the Campionato Esportiva IV Finals and CEdC 1 Finals

The striking stadium is notable for its being annexed to it's titular namesake, the Avenhelm Castle. The castle, built in the 1600s, served as a home to the Mondenique family, key allies to the Kernovian royal family, up until the Kernovian Civil War ended in a divided island in 1735. The castle would eventually fall into the ownership of the wealthy North Kernovian Mellor family. In 1912, John Mellor Jr would convert part of the land into sporting ground, intending to use the castle as a tourist draw. Upon his death, the land was left on trust to his son, to rent to football team Avenhelm Kost for absolute use for one-hundred years with an option to purchase. While the option to purchase has not yet been exercised, the castle has nonetheless become a very important image for Kernovian football fans as following the reunification of the Kernovian Island in 1975 it has become the de facto home stadium for Kernovi and Rewgwlas.

The stadium is intended for use in the first half of qualifying. It is notable that the stadium is used for military displays for three months a year, between January and March, for which time the pen Kendern Stadium will be used.

Scheduled Games:
  • Matchday 3 - Kernovi and Rewgwlas v Kilaguni (272)
  • Matchday 5 - Kernovi and Rewgwlas v Anthor (94)
  • Matchday 7 - Kernovi and Rewgwlas v Oberour Ar Moro (UR)

pen Kendern Stadium
Lipafowley, Petroc Province
Capacity: 9000

A small stadium in the city of Lipafowley, the capital city of the Petroc province and home to rising stars Lipafowley FC. The stadium will host the final game of the first half of qualifying.

Scheduled Game:
  • Matchday 9 - Kernovi and Rewgwlas v Swibia (UR)

Brentinsportva Stadium
Kayanewl, Rewgwlas Province
Capacity: 19,000

The games of the second half will be split equally between the Brentinsportva Stadium and the Isca City Stadium. Kernovi and Rewgwlas is unique in that it has two official capital cities owing to the two distinct islands that make up the nation. The Brentinsportva Stadium, located in the frosty Rewgwlasian capital city of Kayanewl, will host the opening two games of the second half of qualifying.

Scheduled Games:
  • Matchday 10 - Kernovi and Rewgwlas v Vilitia (6)
  • Matchday 11 - Kernovi and Rewgwlas v Mercedini (26)

Isca City Stadium
City of Isca, Isca Province
Capacity: 50,500

This stadium, sitting in the most populous city and dual-capital city of Kerovi and Rewgwlas, will host the final few home games.

Scheduled Games:
  • Matchday 13 - Kernovi and Rewgwlas v Kilaguni (272)
  • Matchday 15 - Kernovi and Rewgwlas v Rannoria (230)
  • Matchday 17 - Kernovi and Rewgwlas v Vithuland (214)

NEPHARA
World Ranking:
6th
Preferred Formation: 4-2-3-1
Secondary Formation: 4-4-2
Style Modifier: 0
Home Stadium: The Farham Arena in Sabrefell is reserved for the biggest games, but Nephara is a large enough country that it spreads its matches across the nation.
Kit Supplier: Ediraf
Nickname: The Cormorants

Nephara were thoroughly convincing in qualifying, winning all but one match, and come into the World Cup in fine fettle and as reigning Rushmori champions. There's no questions of authority, no squabbling behind the scenes, and little uncertainty - Michael Brandon is likely to step down after the World Cup, but his force of will ensures he's no lame duck. Oh, and they're first seeds, which should avoid the groups of death the Cormorants tend to get into. The Cormorants are, justifiably, among the favourites to win it all.

Tactics
Image
As always, the Cormorants play hard and physical on the defensive and quick, broad and ruthless on the attack, especially loving to absorb pressure and hit on the break. Set pieces are also something of a specialty. They usually press hard and try and wear out the opponent, but are willing to sit back if they need to preserve a lead. The fullbacks are expected to overlap with their wingers and provide much of the team's width. The strikers - mostly, anyway - are all very physical and very capable of finishing, pressing high as the first defenders but also striving to get on the end of chances and to finish what the midfield starts. Nepharim play rough, some might even say dirty - but at least it's always honest, and outright cheating isn't tolerated culturally.

Staff
Manager - Michael Brandon - Age 49
Assistant Manager - Tom Riley (EUR) - Age 55
Michael Brandon - a legendary figure for the Cormorants and Directus as a holding midfielder, Nephara's first ever player to be widely regarded as world-class - has taken his incisive knowledge of the sport and razor-sharp intellect into coaching. He's an uncompromising leader who demands absolute loyalty and high performance from his players, and early signs in his first managerial role are promising. Tom Riley, a noteworthy former player as well, has been brought in as his assistant, and is the first foreign management staff in the Cormorants' history.

Goalkeepers
Core
1 - GK - Apostolos Tsattalios (Image Falourr) - Age 32 - 86 caps, 29 clean sheets
A very modern goalkeeper who sweeps behind the defence and has excellent distribution, Tsattalios has truly proven himself in national colours after a bumpy start to his international career. Scapegoated by some for a poor showing against Turori last World Cup, and has lost his place to Swoboda.

12 - GK - Andreas Swoboda (Image 1860 Azoth) - Age 31 - 23 caps, 14 clean sheets
A capable, reliable goalkeeper, Swoboda's quietly ticked along in the background. Until, at some point recently, he managed to turn from being a consistent 7/10 into a consistent 8/10. His distribution is peerless, his shot-stopping consistent, his command unflinching. Very quietly, he's nudged his way into world-class territory.

20 - GK - Hesterine Mercator (Image Tihon Tide) - Age 25 - 6 caps, 4 clean sheets
Narrow-shouldered and rather horse-faced, Mercator carries the hopes of Nephara's future on her shoulders. She's outspoken on and off the pitch, unafraid to give referees and defenders alike a piece of her mind. A sharp, acrobatic shot-stopper, a little weak in the air.

Defenders
2 - RB - Leona Rafford (Image Crisisbless) - Age 29 - 80 caps, 6 goals
A true larrikin on and off the pitch, with a decidedly combative streak. Lightning-quick running down the right, not letting her diminutive stature stop her. Has taken a couple more injuries of late, and might just be starting to slow a bit.

3 - LB - Sieglinde Lohengrin (Image Crisisbless, vc) - Age 30 - 100 caps, 6 goals
Tall, elegant and almost mournful in bearing, Lohengrin's a composed, complete fullback with a world-class crossing ability. More than does her shift defensively, too. This could be her last tournament.

5 - CB - Dieter Konoval (Image KT Moreazerua) - Age 32 - 124 caps, 4 goals
A bruiser at his core, Konoval's most at home bullying small, weak forwards. Not as tall as some might expect, but a deceptively quick sprinter.

6 - CB - Dragora Steelhenge (Image Cornellians) - Age 27 - 33 caps
A tall, assured centre-half who belies her age with a regal bearing and a real bite in the tackle. Mentally resolute, and has worked hard on her ability to recover from errors.

18 - RB - Eloise Kielseng (Image 1860 Azoth) - Age 24 - 15 caps
Something of a surprise in the squad to some, but Kielseng's been a quiet success story early in her career, making a mark in Ceni after leaving Athletic. Defends well, attacks well, fast, gets the basics right.

19 - LB - Marcin Close (Image Brinemouth) - Age 23 - 14 caps
An athletic fullback who has boundless energy, constantly chasing up the flank and tracking back diligently, a quiet and unremarkable professional of the pitch. With a maturity belying his years, Close just does what is needed.

22 - CB - Roxelana Thorn (Image Lammerton) - Age 21 - 1 caps
Thorn feels like she could be the woman of the future. Tall, decisive and muscular, Thorn throws herself fearlessly into any challenge to keep the ball out of her net. The art of defending - the joy of defending - is not lost, not as long as Thorn is here.

Midfielders
4 - HM - Monica Rowland (Image Bastion) - Age 26 - 50 caps, 1 goal
A fiercely ambitious midfielder with a razor-sharp intelligence, Rowland is set for great things and knows it. A genuinely assured presence on the ball, Rowland makes everything around her calmer right up until she sends a ferocious bullet pass downfield. Euran by birth and culture, but her father, Keith, won a century of caps for the Cormorants - she followed suit due to the opportunities for female footballers there.

7 - RAM - Ishtar Fanaiyan (Image Eastweald) - Age 26 - 49 caps, 12 goals
Iskandrian by birth, Fanaiyan's endured terrible hardships and will take nothing for granted as a professional. Lightning-quick, a bastion of athleticism.

8 - CM - Rusalka Klein (Image Crawford City FC) - Age 27 - 49 caps, 13 goals
A lanky, elegant player who strides through the midfield with a charming confidence. Very easy to watch in possession, diligent at winning it back, but still just a little rough around the edges.

11 - LAM - Rowena Strongbow (Image Directus) - Age 26 - 79 caps, 24 goals
A powerful, old-school Nepharim winger who burst onto the scene a while back and has impressed everyone for club and country. Surely one of the world's best players, having never taken a step back in her career. The first woman to ply her trade in Eura's leagues.

13 - RAM - Monako Saroszi (Image Ulsa) - Age 23 - 17 caps, 5 goals
A fearless, driving winger, unafraid to get their hands dirty to get back the ball. They exude a quiet confidence that manifests itself on the pitch as flashy, decisive moves, and they're unafraid to take on a shot themselves. Still somewhat raw.

14 - CAM - Chimera Moxham (Image Port Patrick United) - Age 22 - 20 caps, 8 goals
Aren't playmakers meant to be classy? Moxham isn't. She's arrogant, but not in an elegant way, she just always believes she knows the right thing to do, on and off the pitch. Perhaps annoyingly, she's usually right. Decision-making can be a bit flaky, but she has the pace, the eye for goal and even the defensive workrate to make up for it.

15 - CM - Circe Rosenthal (Image Marionville) - Age 26 - 31 caps, 6 goals
A sturdy, classy midfielder who seizes the initiative at any given chance. Always getting the ball moving forward, and unafraid to get stuck into challenges on the defensive end.

16 - LAM - Marisha Staunton (Image Crisisbless) - Age 24 - 12 caps, 2 goals
Is the classic winger dead? Apparently not. Staunton brightens things up with pace and directness, a fair right peg, a thunderous left. While a little lightweight in her early days, Staunton's breakthrough at Crisisbless came with a lot of work at the gym. She's a powerful figure these days.

21 - CAM - Konrad Gosforth (Image Mâ Âlâmëómë, c) - Age 32 - 107 caps, 31 goals
A clinical, deft playmaker, Gosforth combines physical power and Nepharim graft with a keen intelligence, an eye for goal and, most importantly of all, a flawless sense of timing. Has lead by example ever since Brandon took the national team job.

23 - HM - Servet Misidjan (Image AFC Treason) - Age 28 - 57 caps, 2 goals
An elegant, austere and hard-running player with wonderful technique and intelligence on the ball. Sometimes fades out of games, and isn't perhaps as physical as most Nepharim, but it's made up for by sheer class. In theory.

Forwards
9 - ST - Estrella Hawke (Image Sabrefell Athletic) - Age 28 - 98 caps, 55 goals
Statuesque and athletic, Hawke's very strong, very quick and ruthless with the ball at her feet. Her first touch can be her downfall, and she's at her most comfortable charging forward at full pelt. As a pure striker's striker, she's world-class.

10 - ST - Nevaeh Cathar (Image Avenida Leal) - Age 28 - 22 caps, 13 goals
Rook Cathar's daughter, but not as brash or violent as her father. Instead, Cathar is focused, blunt, taciturn, and determined to do everything in her power to get the ball into the net. She's always been fast, but has more recently gotten stronger, and is able to lead the line confidently. Brandon was supposedly not keen on her personality, but she's matured of late.

17 - ST - Erika Wolff (Image North Sabrefell) - Age 26 - 6 caps, 3 goals
A bolter into the squad, Wolff has it all in theory. Tall, strong, fast and ruthless in front of goal, with a determined personality. She will stop at nothing to get the goddamn ball in the goddamn net. Perhaps lacks a little top-class experience.

After a runner-up finish at the Copa South Pacifica and a 4th place finish at the Independents' Cup, the Golden Loons are heading into World Cup 81 fairly confident that they may qualify for a World Cup in only their second time of asking. Will this wish come true? Let's find out.

23 Man Roster

Starting XI
GK - Noël Eriksen #20 / CLC FC (NRP) / 26 yrs.

In an effort to replace an aging Gio Manuel, Willis has made an interesting decision here, opting for the 2027/28 Prarie Premier clean sheet leader rather than the young and experienced Noe Soares. In his international debut v Sharktail in Abbey, the 26 year old kept a clean sheet until Fred Goldberg gave away a penalty in the 79th minute, which barely floated past Noël's fingertips. The keeper is expected to lead CLC FC to a title this upcoming year, and we'll see if he can lead the Prarieans to a WC qualification as well.

LB - Christen Girard #18 / Capitol Heights FC (NRP) / 25 yrs.

Again another case of Willis trying to replace aging and slow players, Christen Girard comes in from an amazing season at the Stadia Capital, disrupting right wingers like Erick Amerigo, and Christopher Ankekwe to keep the Eagles out of reach at the top of the league. Girard is a fast, on-the-ball defender who isn't afraid to do some shoulder to shoulder to stop attacking threats, especially since this isn't categorized as a foul in the very physical Prarie Premier. Girard is also a decent attacker who can fend off opposing defenders to whip a cross in, and is an aerial threat during corners, usually lurking by the top-right end of the penalty box so he can head in a header that makes its way towards the far post or misses heads in the box altogether. Girard perfectly fits the play style Allan Willis is going for.

LCB - Todd Olson #4 / Durham City FC (NRP) / 30 yrs.

Well, not all the aging players at the back got purged. The towering 6''5' center back is the old-school defender, clearing corners and stopping runs before they get to the box. Olson is not always the most exciting player on the pitch, but he gets the job done. Even though this will probably be his last cycle, Olson is a staple of the back line and will be a player the true fans remember.

RCB - Jon May #3 / Capitol Heights FC (NRP) / 28 yrs. (CAPTAIN)

Here he is : the head of the Prariean defense. Jon May is the rough-and-tough defender who will shoulder to shoulder, put his arm out, and slide tackle if he needs to. He grew up in Stonebridge, and he plays for his boyhood club. His aggressiveness is particularly seen during West Stonebridge Derby games against Riverbay United. He's tough to deal with on offense as well, always a threat on set pieces, and will drive into the attacking third to draw a foul or play a through ball.

RB - Luke Mack #27 / Brockton Club (NRP) / 28 yrs.

Another Golden Loons defender who isn't particularly exciting on the field, Mack is probably the most dangerous on set pieces. The right back is great at shooting when the ball comes to him or getting a head on it in the air. If there's a messy free kick that deflects around the box, theres a good chance Mack will be there to poke the ball into the net. Even though he isn't the fastest, Mack can contain wingers with great off-ball defense that shuts any attacking chance down.

CDM - Kyle Schmitz #8 / Petroslovakia United (PET) / 22 yrs.

Schmitz used to be the most exciting prospect out of the Prariean system. Now, due to Bradley Francis-mania, that has changed. But the Dover native hasn't gotten any worse. Schmitz shuts people down on defense and can shoot from outside or inside the box on offense. The very fast 22-year old can leave defenders for dead before playing a through ball to a winger or a striker. Since Schmitz has started for the elite Petroslovanian team for a while now, he has experience playing abroad. Many Prariean pundits think he'll make a move to an elite league before his career is over. All we know now is that Kyle is a promising youngster that is bound to bring the Prarieans success.

LW - Brice Bret #22 / CLC FC (NRP) / 22 yrs.

The NPSC knew about Bret last cycle, but the then-benchwarmer for CLC FC just didn't have the stuff to make the cut in a promising generation of young players. Sure, Bret had done pretty well a year ago on loan at Cortland Wanderers, but he just wasn't promising enough. Then he broke out in the 27/28 season for the Pirates, scoring 18 goals with 16 assists, and making right backs gawk at his skill. Bret replaces the former captain and poster boy of the team, Chris Rios, who is now 31 and declining. Bret is an incredibly fast winger who can blow by defenders with his touch-and-go. Bret puts finesse on his shots, and can make them curl into corners. The 22 year old is a threat any team should watch out for.

CM - Philip Tran #9 / Tobiasia City FC (TOB) / 28 yrs.

During Baptism of Fire 67, Philip Tran didn't really preform all that well, and almost was benched. Then he was sold to Tobiasia City FC, and then in the WCQs he found his footing. Tran made the Team of the Qualifiers in center midfield, and won multiple MoTMs for the Prariean side.
Tran is an incredibly technical midfielder who sets up attacks perfectly. Tran can also score from long range, demonstrated in his beauty of a goal in the Cup of Harmony against Beepee.

RW - Erick Amerigo #13 / Mandiana FC (USD) / 27 yrs.

Amerigo, like Tran, wasn't especially preforming well before the second half of the WCQs. Then, after his signing with Devontan team, he though he had to prove his price tag, and he did. Amerigo is a speed-based winger, who is more intent on setting up attacks than scoring, though if he has to carry a team he can most definitely take on a striker role. Amerigo is a great crosser, which helps his attack-setup abilities. The ambidextrous 27 year-old is very agile and skillful, leaving left backs behind with crossover-and-gos.

LST - Matthew Oliver #6 / CLC FC (NRP) / 28 yrs.

Matthew Oliver is the best player on this team. The skillful and sometimes-arrogant captain for CLC FC is the perfect in front of goal striker, excelling on breakaways and counter attacks with through balls from midfielders. Oliver is dynamic in these situations, which makes him hard to predict since he can chip keepers, slot it home, go around the keeper, or dish it off to another attacker who gets an open goal to shoot on. Center backs should be afraid of Oliver, and since he plays with scary strikeforces at the club and national level he knows how to torture opposing defenses.

RST - Bradley Francis #12 / Abbey City University (NRP) / 19 yrs.

Here he is. The one and only Bradley Francis. The 19 year old is the first player to play for the U-18, U-21, and senior teams all at the same time. A prodigy that will probably enter the proffessional level next year, many pundits think that the former crown jewel of the best high school team in the country, Carville High, will be the first Prariean to play in a top-20 UICA league such as Farfadillis, Nephara, or Chromatika. Now onto his skill: Francis is a dream striker, equipped with pace, skill moves, finishing, free kicks, and ambidextrousness. Francis will beat you with his speed, fool you with his skills, and dazzle you with his finishing. Many wouldn't be surprised to see Francis double or triple defended by opposing defenses. And he'll still find a way to score.

Kits
NP SOCCER. ALL TOGETHER

North Prarie is getting kits from Flindostani provider No Nonsense Sportswear. These jerseys will be used until the WC83 cycle. NNS has routinely been the provider of choice for the NPSC.
The blue home kits will be used for most of the matches, but should there be any color clashes we will switch to the silver and blue away number.

The 1104, the North Prarie Ultras group, is passionate but nice. However, there was an instance where they cursed at Yezur fans leaving the stadium after North Prarie's 1-0 loss to Yezur in the Baptism of Fire knockout round. This was a first time occurrence, though.
Rebounding after that R16 exit, the 1104 are expected to be louder and more passionate than ever. To alert opposing fans: They use flags, smoke bombs, and flares. The 1104 will be in the north end of the stadium. Visiting fans should expect a loud singing of 'Seven Nation Army' before the game, complete with tifos, smoke bombs, and drums.
Here's some common 1104 chants and songs (besides the National Anthem)
One-one-oh-four, if you're a Prariean hit the floor!

*Prariean fans proceed to wiggle up and down*

Nathaniel Ratecliff and The Night Sweats' song 'S.O.B". Commonly sung by Southwestern cells.

Oh, we're the kings and queens of The South Pacific!
YES WE ARE!
The Kings and Queens of the South Pacific!
YES WE ARE!
We don't care that Beepee won the BoF!
NO WE DON'T!
Because WE DIDN'T SUCK IN QUALIFYING!
YEAH!
OLE, OLE OLE OLE! YEAH!

Oh when the loons,
Go marching in,
Oh when the loons go marching in,
Oh how I want to be in that number,
When the loons go marching in!

Oh when the loons,
Begin to score,
Oh when the loons begin to score,

Oh when the loons,
Win the match,
Oh when the Loons win the match,

Tinhampton National Team - The Miners - Official Lineup
Very Important Note: The following national team, as well as being comprised of Tinhampton City FC reserves (and a few hard-working fans from the olden days), also contains a few players from other clubs in Tinhampton... well, we say that, there's only been one MONTPRES Megaleague. We're gonna change that ultimately...

EVEN MORE IMPORTANT NOTE: Following Rachel Coltfield's appointment as manager, please consider the recent changes to our lineup as below. Theresa Waterman has now been foisted... backstage. Lineup below applicable as of MD13:

Goalkeepers:
1 -- Josh Smith (TCFC reserve)
12 -- Julia Atherton (Eleven Retinues)
23 -- Ryan Elliott (also Eleven Retinues)

Defenders:
2 -- William Potter (TCFC reserve)
3 -- Harry Porter (TCFC reserve)
4 -- Jamie Valley (lucky fan)
5 -- Peter Wright (lucky fan)
13 -- Evan Morris (Refinery Hills)
14 -- Davina Salt (poached from Tinhampton University's Vertos campus)
15 -- Nathaniel George (Refinery Hills)
16 -- Brian Small (Westpark Guns)

Midfielders:
6 -- Michael Young (TCFC reserve)
7 -- Ian Jones (TCFC accountant (until they can find a new one); CAPTAIN but no longer manager)
8 -- Mohamed al-Khazr (lucky fan)
9 -- Fred Ball (TCFC reserve)
17 -- Steve Cameron (now-unretired TCFC player)
18 -- Jacob North (Eleven Retinues)
19 -- Aihlo Vatunska (male; New Lions Club, formerly of Gladom Newion; really the sweeper but who cares anymore?)
20 -- Reece Ford (lucky fan; re-positioned in the past year or so)

Strikers:
10 -- Priscilla Evans (lucky fan)
11 -- Ian Graham (TCFC reserve)
21 -- Simon Wood (TCFC U10s coach, until he got a call-up)
22 -- Ben Williamson (TCFC reserve; in the game for good)

The Manager is now Rachel Coltfield, who you may remember as leading Tinhampton through much of our omnishambolic attempt to qualify for World Cup 79... and nowhere else, really.

Style Modifier: -3.142 -5 (as the hosts are now aware)
Home Stadium for World Cup Qualifiers: Tin Park, renovated to hold 3,000. Goal-Line Technology, Video Assistant Referee, and other modern contraptions - beyond much-improved TV camera positioning! - are not installed.
Kit: Our home kit is a white shirt with brown paint smothered all over it... our away kit is a white shirt. Shorts and socks are always white. Due to recent budget cuts, the goalkeeper wears whatever he/she finds in the wardrobe, although Theresa is under strict orders not to wear heels.
Trigram: TIN
Travelling Supporters: about 500-ish
Nu! Starting Lineup (Sweeper 5-3-2): *your call, owing to recent reforms*; Vatunska; Morris, Porter, *Salt or George, your call*, Small; Cameron, Young (C), North; Graham, Ford. formerly Smith; Potter, Porter, Valley, Wright; Ball; Young, Jones (C), al-Khazr; Evans, Graham.
Setpiece Takers, if playing (if not, anybody else other than the goalie): Penalties: Young. Free kicks: North for those closer than 50 yards to the goal; any defender for those further from it (lest you be interested in such potential mundanity). Left corner: Potter. Right corner: Cameron.
Roleplay Permissions Thingy:
This is a list of stuff you must not do:
  • Give more than one player an injury per two games, or give players players career-ending injuries. For anything longer than three games, or that which could otherwise jeopardise a player's involvement in the World Cup or Cup of Harmony - if we get that far - please contact me. If I have already RPed a Tinhamptonian getting injured, you may only add a second one with my TGed consent.
  • Red-card more than one player (who is not the goalkeeper) in every game. If I have already RPed a Tinhamptonian getting dismissed, you may only add a second one with my TGed consent.
  • Replace my squad wholesale (or near enough to wholesale, the definition of which I shall define). As above, please contact me if you want to change my starting lineup, but please remember that I must consent to the move and that the changes shall apply only for the game that you will play against Tinhampton.
  • Kill a member of the Tinhamptonian legislature (or liberate Lydia Anderson, Gertrude Spencer and/or Mike Davis from Transarid; you may, however, donate to the Tinhampton Hardship Fund).
Otherwise, it is open season.

Kingdom of Czarna Gora
- National Football Team -

History:
The National Football Team of Czarna Gora was first formed in 1932, during the First Kingdom of Czarna Gora. The team unsuccessfully represented the Kingdom in World Cup qualifications in 1934 and 1938, before being disbanded in 1939 with the onset of the Second World War. After the war, the Kingdom was integrated into the Socialist Federal Republic of Srpska-Czarna Gora, and was thus represented by this national team during the 1950-1984 period. In 1985, the Socialist Federal Republic collapsed, and Czarna Gora regained its independence as the Second Kingdom of Czarna Gora. The National Football Team was reconstituted in 1989, and had subsequently represented the Kingdom in the 1990, 1994, 1998, 2002, 2006, 2010, and 2014 World Cup Qualifications, but has yet to successfully qualify. In 2015, the team was placed under the management of Nikola Petrović-Njegoš, a distant member of the Czarno-Goran royal family and avid football enthusiast. He has worked hard to improve the teams image abroad and at home, and has invested a substantial portion of his personal wealth into improving the teams stadium and training facilities.

The National Football Team of Czarna Gora performed quite poorly in the 68th Batptism of Fire, taking third place in Group C after an unexpected loss to the Republic of Alenburg. Some changes have been made to the team's lineup since the Baptism of Fire, and the team hopes to redeem this earlier loss with a respectable performance in the World Cup's Group Stage.

Starting Lineup:
#1 Д. Стојановић - D. Stojanović - 24 - GK
#2 С. Драговић - S. Dragović - 30 - DR
#3 J. Атељевић - J. Ateljević - 26 - DL

Team Staff:
Team Manager: Н. Петровић-Његош - N. Petrović-Njegoš - 39
Head Coach: Ф. Станкић - F. Stankić - 42
Assistant Coach: С. Грбић - S. Grbić - 35
Goalkeeping Coach: Н. Јовановић - N. Jovanović - 39

Formation and Style:
Head Coach, Franjo Stankić, has stated publicly that he plans to enter the upcoming Baptism of Fire Tournament using a 4-5-1 formation. Coach Stankić was well known for using this formation during his highly successful PrvaLiga (ПрваЛига) career with FC Skadar, and his starting lineup takes advantage of much of the talent he developed over the last three years with this club, including defenders F. Shehu and J. Ateljević, and play-maker/team captain B. Živković. The team will play a cautious, defensive game, seeking to wear down their opponent and create late-game scoring opportunities. If more offensive power is needed, Coach Stankić has stated that his footballers are also well practiced with the 4-3-3 and 4-4-2 formations, and opponents can expect fluid transitions between 4-3-3 and 4-5-1 as needed.

For scorination purposes, we have a -3.0 style modifier.

Stadium:
All international matches hosted in Czarna Gora will be held in Podgorica's Stadion Podgoricom (Стадион Подгорицом), unless otherwise stated in RP. Stadion Podgoricom is an open-air football stadium, the largest of its type in Czarna Gora. It can seat 18,300 in its four stands, including 300 in the newly constructed VIP/Press Boxes on the North and South stands. The stadium is conveniently located just north of downtown Podgorica, and just 6 km from the Nikola I Aerodrome.

THE HOLY EMPIRE WC 81 SQUAD

While the nation took a long break from WCs 8 through 24, the Holy Empire is proud to be the only active nation to have participated in WC 1.

Though it pretends not to be, the nation is equally proud to have won 4 World Cup titles

The bunnies are back!

For the second tournament in a row, the Holy Empire is represented by the generals, admirals, and other leaders of the Invincible Legions of Doom of the Immortal Dread Lords Flopsy, Mopsy, and Cottontail, the giant, carnivorous triumvirate that rules the mysterious reality known as 'Fluffy Bunny World'.

The bunnies were World Cup runners up in World Cup 80, ending a long period across the '70s where the four-time champions and nine-time finalists had been underperforming. Now they're back to see if they can wreak their fluffy and nuzzly revenge and go one better in WC81.

The Bunny Legions of Doom have conquered every galaxy across Fluffy Bunny World, with uncountable trillions enslaved to their insatiable bloodlust. Flopsy, Mopsy, and Cottontail - long-time friends of both Juan Tzimisces and no less a figure than the Basileus of the Holy Empire himself - now thirst for new conquests in other realities. Yet the Dread Lords know their limits. Instead of unleashing the full force of the Invincible Legions of Doom across the barriers that separate realities, via a partnership with the Holy Empire Football Association they've merely relaunched the Legions' leaders as a competitive football team and sent them forth.

Prepare for maximum bunnies!

The bunnies have a dualistic religion. They worship Be'atrix, goddess of victory. In as much as they fear anything, they fear Ma'Gregor, shadow god of the carrot patch.

Did we mention that the bunnies are really, really cute.

Share in the cuteness!

OOC: The squad consists of incredibly, impossibly cute - but ruthless, hyper-intelligent, win at all costs - bipedal human-sized rabbits. They will stretch the rules; and if referees don't succumb to just how amazingly cute they are, they will get sent off.

Also, they're not very keen on sentient ponies

Goal:

Defence:

High Marshal Benjy Bunny

Midfield:
Marine Marshal Whiskers

Field Marshal Wiggles (CAP)
Hokh'Ton Muffin
Lord Space Admiral Bogart

Forwards:

Coaches:

The team coach remains World Cup Hall of Fame legend Juan Tzimisces

The assistant coach remains Starblaydi World Cup Hall of Fame legend Simeone Di Bradini

Style Modifiers / formation

Frosty football is attacking football. The Holy Empire always plays a 3-5-2 formation using overlapping wingers that turns into 3-3-4 on the counterattack.

[OOC'ly, for the purposes of scorination, the team uses the maximum attacking style modifier permitted by each cup's hosts.]

Kit
The team will wear famous Imperial Gold and Red, as worn by the Holy Empire since WC1...

(home top, away bottom)
Image
Image

OOC'ly, the kits were designed by Red Blackiland, and the crest by Audioslavia - and I'm entirely grateful; I'm very happy for RB and Audio to take OOC credit. IC'ly, HEFA deny the Mundies had anything to do with it.

Stadium
The Holy Empire plays its home matches in the bejewelled, platinum-domed, and purple stone-walled Imperial Hippodrome, the oldest World Cup venue still in use, and one of the most famous - and impressive - stadiums in the multiverse.

RP instructions:
Have fun with the ruthless, violent, extraordinarily cute and oh so adorable bunnies; but don't kill anyone, and don't try and launch attacks on the Dreamed Realm - largely because you can't.

Some basic Dreamed Realm RP rules:
Remember that the Dreamed Realm lies entirely outside of Ordinary Reality, and is utterly impervious to harm from what we charmingly call 'mundies'.

Some points to remember about travel to, and playing in, the Dreamed Realm:

1) We control the nature of reality in the Dreamed Realm; reality and time are malleable within the Realm. This isn't used to cheat - all normal rules of football are strenuously followed - but it does have two major side effects:
A) Any injuries to either team in Imperial home matches are immediately healed.
B) No violent or riotous behaviour by visiting fans will be tolerated, unless permission is received in advance (please file applications for violent rioting in triplicate). Any such behaviour undertaken without appropriate permission will find those responsible immediately transported back to Ordinary Reality.

2) Direct travel from ordinary physical reality to the Dreamed Realm is impossible. Some 72 hours before your away qualifier in the Empire, a team of Archregimancy [Eastern Orthodox Christian] monks will arrive in your home stadium and construct a portal to the Dreamed Realm. You may then use this to travel to the Empire at your convenience.

SOCIÉTÉ DU MICHINE

Image
National flag of Michine

The Société du Michine is an idiosyncratic political entity that controls a small, backwater star system located somewhere in time and space, while effectively representing a small human colony located on the largest moon of the deep blue gas giant Korolieff. Michine's main settlement is a living testament to a time when humanity sought to take root in the most unlikely of places, just because it could; an ancient caldera, approximately 10km in diameter, on an otherwise inhospitable moon is spanned by a gigantic pentakis dodacahedral dome in magnesium and glass that encloses a breathable atmosphere. Beneath the dome, around three hundred thousand people live their lives in a fragile, terraformed ecosystem consisting of a city bordering and in places surrounding a deep lake; besides humans and hydroponics, the only organisms larger than bacteria are a greenish blanket of lichens and algae and a few very hardy fish.

Michine was originally a Russian settlement, but much of the colony's early history has been lost to neglect and memory; the present population are almost entirely Francophone, speaking a dialect that while heavily influenced by Russian would be intelligible to a 20th century Parisian. With allegiances to any other entity long since forgotten, Michine's government is nominally run on free market oligarchic principles with an element of direct democracy, but a choking bureaucracy and corruption have made the Conseil de Quatorze - nominally the highest body in the system - somewhat impotent, and the average Michinien relies extensively on black market trading and informal support networks to get anywhere in life. In spite of this, the city's downtown Quartier siècle is a hive of music and artistic endeavour, and sport is a popular distraction - dominated, thanks to its simple rules and minimal equipment, by football.

The unique conditions of Michine mean that, while IFAB rules are broadly used unchanged, football played here has some subtle differences. All games are played on artificial turf with a biodegradable infill - the imported, terraformed plant life being too fragile and scarce to use as a pitch surface. The lack of any weather to speak of also has an effect; with no precipitation and only the gentlest of air movement from the life support plants, climate conditions vary little between matches, and long passes can be placed more precisely with little drift to account for. Michinien football is semi-professional; most players even in the top-tier Ligue Élite have jobs outside of the sport to supplement their income, partially as the Union michinien de football is not immune from the pervasive corruption of Michinien society and player payments, even for national team duty, do not go far; playing for your country is a matter of pride rather than career.

ÉQUIPE DU MICHINE

The 16-man squad announced by the Union michinien de football for the Baptism of Fire has remained the same for the World Cup qualifiers, although there may well be additional call-ups in the event of injury or illness.

GOALKEEPERS
Georges IGNATIEFF (Stade Michinien)
Denis LAPINE (AS Locomotive)

DEFENDERS
Vladimir BAÏTCHEFF (Stade Michinien)
Maxime KOUZNETSOFF (AS Solaire)
Dimitri POLIAKOFF (AS Zemlia)
André TCHERNIKOFF (AS Zemlia)
Valentine VIRASSTCHIOUK (AS Locomotive)
Nicolas VOLOCHINE (AS Spa)

MIDFIELDERS
Vladimir ALTICHEFF (AS Nouvelle-Stalingrad)
Stéphane KOSSENKO (Stade Michinien)
Anatole KROUGLOFF (AS Zemlia)
Youri SAMEDOFF (Olympique du Michine)
Serge TCHORGUIEFF (AS Spa)

STRIKERS
Alexandre AÏVTCHENKO (AS Zemlia)
Pierre LAVOTCHKINE (Olympique du Michine)
Édouard MIROUNOFF (Université du Michine)

HEAD COACH
Victor KOVALEVITCH

STADE ET MAILLOTS DU MICHINE

Following the multiversal attention received by the Union michinien de football at the Baptism of Fire, enough wheels were oiled and money exchanged to renovate the dilapidated Stade des pionniers, on the edge of Michine's main civic quarter, into a dedicated national home ground in the style of the Natunolstadion in Semarland that hosted the Michiniens during the latter half of that campaign. Formerly host to the early colonial government's parades and celebrations, and latterly host to dubiously legal gatherings and a thick covering of the ubiquitous Michinien fungus-like lichen, the site was completely dismantled and cleared and today in its place sits a perfectly level and comfortable expanse of the usual Michinien artificial turf, the centrepiece of the new Stade national des aventuriers. The designs called for a 10,000 all-seater outer ring with a retro-futuristic elevated photovoltaic roof and standing room next to the pitch, but due to what the union de construction du Michine describes as a 'regrettable administrative error that is not of our making', and what UMF media liaison Dorothée Savtchouk describes as 'fairly good by Michinien standards', only a small section of the bowl seating has been built, leaving the Michinien national representative team hosting games in a stadium with three hundred seats and no working public address system. The pitch is quite nice, though.

(If you need a visual aid, imagine something quite like the Wheatley Park home of Garforth Town, except on something not unlike Chiron from Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri as opposed to within darkest Yorkshire)

Image
Michinien home, change, and goalkeeper kits, supplied by FHT

Michine play in the national colours of red, green, and blue, in kits supplied by Michinien enterprise Fibres de haute-technologie (FHT), who also outfit all teams in the Michinien Ligue Élite. The UMF's current first choice kit features red shirts and stockings with green shorts, all in FHT's asymmetric template with white piping and navy blue trim on the left side; the entire kit has a subtle jacquard pattern throughout, combining with the wing collars for a distinctly early '90s look. The change kit is simply reversed - allowing for mixing and matching for the team to play in all-red or all-green if needed - and goalkeepers have a choice of yellow or teal in the same template (first-choice Denis Lapine tends to prefer yellow).

For the World Cup Qualifiers, the UMF have agreed a deal (probably involving large envelopes of various convertible currencies being sneaked under a table) with Vulpine Sportif of Kita-Hinode to supply their players with modern artificial turf shoes and studded boots to use when playing at home and away respectively; made with real artificial leather, these represent a significant improvement over the improvised solutions players had to use before.

TACTIQUES DU MICHINE

Michinien football tends towards the defensive; the national team under Victor Kovalevitch have generally reproduced the strategy common in the Ligue Élite, and perfected by Kovalevitch's Stade Michinien, of a packed, well organised, deep defence that launches attacks by way of long-range passes to quick strikers. Gamesmanship and foul play are relatively uncommon; the team are plucky underdogs as opposed to worldly cheaters. This all manifests as a 5-3-2 formation and a -4 style modifier.

FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF CARLOSO NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM
ROSTER FOR WORLD CUP 81

Image

Carloso is presently a football-obsessed nation, reeling from an unexpectedly good performance in Baptism of Fire 68, where Carloso finished in third-place after a dramatic penalty shootout against Freeport. They are the present champions of the Musgorocian Championship, having won in 2017. Carloso hopes to repeat the same level of success seen in these past tournaments and qualify for the World Cup. Its manager since 2015 has been Gerardo Mercader, who has transformed the Carlosian football team into an incredibly potent force; with a roster of talented and powerful players, after several years of dissapointing results in various matches against Musgorocian teams. In particular, Los Tricolores have proven to be a dangerous force when it comes down to penalities, winning all three of the shootouts that occured in the knockout stages of the Baptism of Fire. All in all, Carloso should be team to look out for in the coming World Cup qualifying stage.

National Anthem--"Hear Our Voices Commonwealth"

Region—Atlantian Oceana

Nickname
--since the end of the 1960's the National Team has been known as "The Bees", a period when the team's uniforms consisted of alternating black and gold hoops. While the bee is an element on the coat of arms of the Commonwealth—a long accepted heraldic symbol of industriousness--the association was actually a reference made in an Italian newspaper game story when the senior team was wearing the hooped shirts, referring to the BP team as il Bombi (the bumblebees) for their perseverance and swarming tactical play.

Colors--Black & Gold (while they are just 2 of the 5 main colors on the flag of Baker Park--Blue, Red and White are the others--black & gold have been closely associated in the nation's consciousness as representative of the country since its founding.)

Home Stadium(s)—For the initial phase of qualifying, the following stadiums have been selected to host matches:

Matchday 2 vs Timmy's Tigers
Image
Queen Victoria Stadium, Ezriquay (capacity 37,475)
The stadium has a lot in common with many of the major venues in Baker Park—its riverside location, easy access to public transportation and multi-use adaptability. The men's NT have played here on 8 occasions, with 3 wins and 3 draws. You'll not have to go far to find a pre or post match libation, with the University of Ezriquay just across road there are plenty of bars and pubs that cater to both students and sports fans alike.

Matchday 4 vs St Saratoga
Image
Collins Park, Oceana (capacity 47,000)
A longtime stadium with a complicated and messy backstory; it was only at the beginning of the 2000's that serious consideration was given to making meaningful renovations, as it was being skipped over for major events. Today all of its stands are uniform in height and consistent in their quality, almost like someone finally planned it out. A good place to see a match, although it suffers from not having a full time soccer tenant.

Matchday 7 vs Kwesiland
Image
Salisbury Stadium, Salisbury (capacity 25,900)
Although the city is not technically part of the Metro Belle Haven area, the extension in 1991 of the subway/commuter rail line (take the Red Line from Midtown Transit Center, 35 minutes.) to the Salisbury Civic Center (adjacent to the stadium) meant that this city gained a huge influx of commuters moving in over the next decade. Home to 2nd Division club Salisbury City, who have played here since 1975, it also hosts neutral site matches in all of the major Cup competitions, due to the central proximity of city and ease of travel.

Matchday 9 vs South Calebian
Image
Old College Park, Southend (capacity 19,600)
One the country's quirkier grounds, Old College Park is the home field of Ezra State University's football, men's and women's soccer and rugby teams, as well as Southend AC who compete in the Championship Division and Southend Ladies AC. Generally, it's agreed that visiting fans for soccer matches have the best seats, as they are accommodated in the student seating for ESU's football games (the far left in this picture).

Matchday 10 vs Freeport Isles
Image
Rogers Stadium, Endborough (capacity 46,800)
Completed in 1926 as a home for the Endborough Gold Sox baseball team, it was not well suited to larger field sports like football and soccer; however it did host 2 National Team matches in 1960 and 1964. In 1975, the Endborough Eagles professional football team entered into an agreement to help finance an expansion that nearly doubled the capacity and another investment from the Endborough RFC to share the stadium as a tenant brought about further improvements

Matchday 12 vs Innovian Indusse
Image
MacIlwaine Park Stadium (capacity 23,000)
Home of the St Warren State University football and soccer teams, as well as the current NSL Champions St Warren City FC, the MPS is a classic 4 sided venue and a source of intense local pride.

Matchday 14 vs Coldfield
Image
Newport City Stadium, Newport (capacity 25,000)
The country's major seaport and home to the Naval Service of the Commonwealth Fleet Command, the city also has other things to see and do. The stadium is home to the Newport City FC and the Naval Academy's football team and has been a frequent host to the NT in recent years, with one loss in 8 previous trips.

Matchday 15 vs Taeshan
Image
Presidents Park, Shirley (capacity 26,115)
Presidents Park retains its unusual shape and mismatched stands for reasons that have less to do with money & more to do with the desire of fans to not change the character of the ground; many campaigns to build a modern facility away from downtown have been squashed by public sentiment. Completed in 1923 and renovated and rebuilt several time since, it has hosted more matches of the National Team than any other ground since 1953, with only 4 defeats in 31 contests.

Matchday 17 vs Darmen

Image
Keller Field, Belle Haven (capacity 56,500)
The country's largest stadium; named for Robert Keller, who is considered the principal writer of the Commonwealth's constitution. It hosts most high profile championship events across several sports. Has suffered a reputation among BP supporters as being a jinx venue for the national team as it is the only stadium where more than one match has been played that the National Team do not have a winning record (4-8-3), although it must be noted that many Celebratory matches commemorating milestones the FAC achieved (300th match, 75th Anniversary, etc.) were often against far stronger opposition than the NT would normally have faced. The most recent matches played here were during the World Cup Qualifying for Equestar 80, a loss to Kita-Hinode on the penultimate match day and the historic 1-0 victory over Qasden in the first leg of the playoff that propelled them towards their first berth.

As the Commonwealth of Baker Park returns for their second World Cup cycle, the changes that have refashioned the landscape of multiverse soccer since their previous entry are clear for many to see. In fact, the Commonwealth itself was partly responsible for some of the early tremors; as the National Team prepared for BoF 67 in Banija, there was little thought paid to the newcomers, in spite of making a splash at the age group level just prior to the start of the WC campaign for EqueStar 80. The senior side was an unproven question mark to most other nations, and the expectations for the first ever coed national soccer team were not high. Yet, following their 18 day march to the BoF Final, notice started to paid to the team in the black & gold uniforms. When the draw for the qualifying for WC80 was held, Baker Park were just another hopeful in a group that included Darmen and South Covello--mid-table hopefuls at best. Six wins and a draw in the first 9 matches of the tournament saw BP on the top of standings; while the second half of the qualifying didn't quite reach that same lofty height, the final day ended with the Commonwealth in third place, good enough to advance to the 2 legged playoff to determine the final 16 spots in the WC Finals. A tense affair against Qasden saw Baker Park win at home and play to a one goal defeat in the return, which was good enough to advance on the away goals rule. On their very try, the Commonwealth had made the final 32 in the multiverse's biggest event, becoming the first nation to do so on their maiden attempt since Drawkland accomplished the feat for WC 77
Although they did manage to win the final match in Starblaydia, the clock struck midnight and BP were eliminated after the Group Stage.

This time around, there will be no sneaking up on anyone, as in one full cycle Baker Park have gone from unranked oblivion to the top 50. It's expected that this tournament will be a defining moment in the history of the FAC and the sport as a whole, where the veterans in the squad will be giving way to what is being called Baker Park's "Golden Generation"—the young men and women who are the product of the Master Development Plan began eight years ago to bring the youth system in the country up a higher standard. The Commonwealth's success in the Under-18 and Under-21 championships has paved the way for this group of players to assume the mantle of their country's National Team while still having a core of experienced teammates to rely upon.

Today, we have 51 million residents who can claim their origins from all over the multiverse

We welcome all visitors from across the multiverse to the Commonwealth. For many, this is the first visit you'll have made to Baker Park & we hope to provide a guide to the country and its people, in order for you to enjoy your stay in our nation. We are one of the top tourist destinations in Atlantian Oceana, welcoming over 1.6 million visitors every year.

What to Expect when You Arrive: People in Baker Park can seem a bit formal or deferential to strangers when you first meet them; this is something of an ingrained relic of the values and lessons of our ancestors as 'propriety' is a word that every child and teen has drilled into their head from an early age. Many of us are only a couple of generations removed from the behavioral and social norms of our Victorian era European fore-bearers. Generally, once the introductions or the initial pleasantries are passed, people are for the most part extremely friendly and will treat you like a long-lost friend and will probably ask something about your own home and what it's like living there.

Belle Haven is the national capital of the Commonwealth; with a metro area population of over 5.6 million, it is also the largest city, the financial, entertainment, and cultural center of the country, and more than likely your first stop on your trip to Baker Park. Belle Haven International Airport (BHX) serves 38 foreign & domestic carriers and accommodates over 900 takeoffs and departures per day. The airport is approximately 18 miles south of the city center, and there are numerous ground transportation options for arriving visitors at Belle Haven International; Metro Transit Buses, commuter rail, taxis, for hire limos, private coaches, rental cars and both private hub-to-hub & hotel shuttles are available to carry the traveler to any part of the city (or further) as needed.

There are also large airports that serve the other areas of the Commonwealth where matches will be played. Oceana, Ezriquay, Endborough, and Shirley have International standard airports, and capable of handling inbound flights from anywhere in the multiverse.

Currently, the Under-Secretary of State for Immigration & Borders has no nations listed as requiring pre-travel visas for travelers to the Commonwealth for less than 14 days visits

Within the Greater City of Belle Haven area, public transportation is widely available across several platforms; CARTA (Capital Area Rapid Transit Authority) provides for public buses, a modern light-rail network, a clean & efficient subway system and connections to commuter and interstate rail lines.

Transit fares are equalized across all types of accommodation; 1 day, 3 day and 7 day passes each offer discounts off the regular single ride price, and the system is fully integrated; one price allows you to access to any CARTA mode of transport along with transfers. The Commonwealth subsidizes companies that encourage their employees to utilize public transport, allowing them to offset their Environmental Impact Tax payments.

A monument to the extensive public works initiatives made through the last 60 years, Baker Park's limited access expressway grid connects all areas of the Commonwealth with the capital; our citizens take great pride in the quality of our highways and their upkeep.

And what about money?: Baker Park's currency is the CBP dollar; the country has completed its transition into the Atlantian Oceana economic bloc, so generally $1 NS is equivalent to about CBP$ 1.35. The monetary system is decimalized and denominations are 2, 5, 10 and 50 cent coins, 1 and 2 dollar coins, and 5, 10, 25, 100 and 500 dollar notes.
As a result of the 1998 elimination of the 1 cent coin, the general practice throughout the county is to round up or down any prices that would result in purchases or change returned ending in 1 or 3 cents; for example, a merchant may keep the extra 1 cent if your change due is 3.31, or may return 2.54 if the amount due is 2.53 (merchants and vendors generally adapt pricing so this is a rare occurrence).

Baker Park has a national Goods & Services Tax (GST) on a wide array of products and services; it is a tiered structure based upon the retail cost, meaning you will pay a lower tax on cheaper items, and a higher tax on those that are more expensive. Visitors can apply for a refund of the Federal government share of GST (generally about 75% of the collected tax) by filling out a form with proof of purchase via sales receipts; ask at customs upon your departure for Form 85. In some cases, GST is incorporated into the price; for example an item that has a retail price of $1.80 is probably GST inclusive ($1.75 with a .05 tax) so this would not be refundable.

Cash gratuities for service are not expected, but are not uncommon. Generally, workers in hospitality and tourism are more accustomed to receiving small tips, but the level of service you receive is not affected if you choose not to do so. Workers at all levels of employment are paid under a scheme known as CLAWS (Classified Labor and Wage Scale) which ensures that citizens are compensated fairly and reasonably equal to their peers based on years of work and experience.

OK, so what will get me in trouble and what should I know?
Here we go: The legal age for consumption or purchase of alcohol is 18, and the sale and use of cannabis is allowed for persons over that age as well, although no importation into the country is permitted—your stash will simply be confiscated and you'll be moved on. As for other non-prescription drugs, we're not as nice. Possession of Cocaine, Heroin, Methamphetamines, and other 'E' Class drugs (the usual ones that everybody calls "controlled substances") will probably get you—A) deported, if you're lucky; B) incarcerated for up to a year, depending on how much we're talking about; or C) an amount considered to be likely "an attempt to distribute" about 27 years with no chance for parole, even if your government are really nice and buy $20 million worth of goods from us. We believe that drug addiction is an illness, but we don't believe that drug trafficking is quite the same.

There are legal cannabis dispensaries in most cities; you will need to present your passport, or a government issued identity card with your photo to purchase, and the amount you are permitted to buy is regulated by local ordinance, ask first what the limit is.

On a lighter note, if you have read any news related to the various sporting events we've held in this country in the past, you'll hopefully have noted that we do take factors into consideration when enforcing public consumption of alcohol & what would be called "drunk and disorderly" and other punitive misdemeanors during large gatherings. Our Belle Haven Metro Police are about as tolerant & easy going as you'll find, but to the degree that You make it hard for them Not to arrest you is how much leeway you're going to get.

Most bars and pubs have closing time at 3am, and only such establishments that serve food can legally open prior to 11:15 am to serve alcohol.

We have legalized gambling in Baker Park; there is a modern casino downtown in Belle Haven as well as casinos in East Liverpool (just south of Endborough) and suburban Oceana. Prostitution is not illegal, but it's not technically legal either; there are just no uniform laws on the subject. Some local jurisdictions may have ordinances that confine the practice to certain places or certain degrees of "offense", but no legal entity is permitted to make prostitution or solicitation more than a minor misdemeanor.

Violent crime is extremely rare in the Commonwealth. There is a higher chance you will fall off a subway platform than be assaulted or robbed with a firearm.

Anything else?: You'll probably notice that we have a bit of Victoriana fetish here in Baker Park. You can't miss it even if you're only halfway paying attention. We have parks, buildings, bars, restaurants, streets and anything else you can think of named for Victoria, or some kind of reference to the legacy she left.

For many years, long after Baker Park had established its own coinage and paper currency, pound notes and coins were still accepted as payment on an unofficial basis in many parts of the country—and often hoarded by some people as collector's items. Even in modern times, half-dollar and 2 dollar coins in the Commonwealth have Victoria's image stamped upon them; the young woman of the 1840's graces the former, the familiar image of the aging widow on the latter ("One Vic" is 2 dollars in slang here, while a "Vicky" is 50 cents, FYI)

RSFF Official Press Release

Postby Saltstead » Sun Aug 26, 2018 1:56 pm

Style modifier: -5 (or whatever the most defensive modifier might be)
RP permissions: Your RP permissions are mine, short of death and career-ending injuries. If I can send off your players, you can send off mine. If your players can’t be booked, neither can mine. If I can rain a hail of meteors down on the city, so can you. Just make it funny/entertaining, if you don’t mind. ;)

Note: Saltsteadish surnames follow RL Netherlands Dutch conventions on surname prefixes: they aren’t capitalised when used in combination with first names or initials, but are capitalised in all other situations. For example, “Carle de Marcht” is correct, while “Carle De Marcht” is not; however, when the given name is not used, “De Marcht” is proper, while “de Marcht” is not.

THE NATIONAL ELEVEN

Country code: SOL
Nickname: The Stallions
National Anthem: Risen from Ruins

Competitive statistics
Overall record:
44–20–30 (46.8% win rate/1.61 points per game)
First international: Saltstead 0–2 Loynn (Bellator, DRK; BoF 65 matchday 1)
First win: Finland 0–1 Saltstead (Bellator, DRK; BoF 65 matchday 2)
First loss: Saltstead 0–2 Loynn (Bellator, DRK; BoF 65 matchday 1)
First draw: Saltstead 4–4 Acapais (Bellator, DRK; BoF 65 semifinal)
Biggest win: Saltstead 6–1 Frejo (Port Michael, SOL; WCQ 78 matchday 5)
Biggest loss: Saltstead 0–4 Starblaydia (Maneapolis, EQS; AOCAF LVI matchday 3)

The default Saltsteadish strategy can be summed up in one phrase: “the best offence is a good defence”. The Stallions play a highly opportunistic attack, lying in wait for an opportunity rather than charging head-on. Possession is mostly confined to the midfield, keeping the ball comfortably away from [insert Emmet Ferdinand’s eventual replacement here]’s goal and close enough to Saltstead’s lone striker Carle de Marcht for him to attack when necessary. Saltstead prefer to play a passing game in possession, while attempting to pry the ball away from the opposition when not, either by intercepting a pass or tackling players. The Stallions will attempt to frustrate and infuriate the opposition through tactics of time wasting, bus parking and—in the most desperate of circumstances—dirty play if necessary to achieve the desired result and are unashamed of drawing games and advancing via penalty shoot-outs.

About Omerica
National anthem: Marche de l’Indépendance

Largest city: Charlottesville (by city limits); Philibiscostal (by urban area)
Official languages: English, French, Dutch
Population: 67,427,652 (2009 census)

Association code: OME
Team nickname: Les Incorrigibles
KPB rating: 6.81 (86th)

A federation in the far north, Omerica is a cosmopolitan maritime nation, famed for its environmental beauty, thriving black markets and love of a good drink. Omerica is a federal directorial republic with a semi-direct democratic system of governance. An influential country in international affairs, the nation ranks as one of the most politically and socially free states in the multiverse. The nation is noted for having some of the most friendly, compassionate and brash people in the multiverse, who enjoy high rates of economic, scientific and cultural development. The nation is rated as one of the least corrupt and least authoritarian in the world, with low rates of ignorance, obesity, political apathy and preventable death.

About Les Incorrigibles
Just like the history of the nation, the history of Omerican football has been rocky. The nation was one of fifty-six to début in Baptism of Fire 56, where the team made the knockout stage with an undefeated record before bowing out to Lons after extra time in the last 32. Les Oiseaux subsequently floundered for several cycles, finishing below expectations in tournament after tournament and struggling to find their footing. But fortunes turned around during the Campionato Esportiva in the Sarian, where Omerica unexpectedly won their group and made the quarterfinals after defeating Yttribia. Despite falling to runners-up Nephara in a close match, the tournament marked a significant turn in fortunes: a bitter (and, to Osarians, infamous) third-place finish in the World Cup 73 qualifiers, two consecutive knockout stage qualifications and Round of 16 exits and—the nation’s crowning moment of glory—an upset qualification for World Cup 74, where the team scalped Flardania and nearly advanced to the knockout phase.

However, success proved short-lived. After boycotting CE XVI in Falatulu, the Omerican Football Federation found itself mired in a corruption and betting scandal. Combined with a riotous fanbase which had caused numerous bouts of destruction, the scandal dogged the team’s World Cup 75 qualifying campaign and ultimately brought the OFF to an untimely end, ordered dissolved by the Sessions Court of the Metropolitan Arrondissement and liquidated to cover the fines issued to its executives. In the aftermath of the scandal, the republican football associations, which had predated and existed parallel to the OFF, formed the United Republican Soccer Federation to take over the OFF’s functions and opted to indefinitely pull Omerica from international competition. Half a decade later, a new national team emerged to contest the Independents Cup and, after much internal debate, the World Cup with little success.
Staff
Manager: Anne-Sophie Groothuis
Former gaffer for Calaverde’s Club du 28 Mars, Groothuis has led the club to local success on the regional and national stage and comfortably sealed the Calaverdean side a berth as a founding member of Ligue.A. A flexible and disciplined tactician, Anne-Sophie is known to favour a moderately attack-minded approach that has brought 28 Mars four Calaverdean and two Federal Championships in her stint at the club, but is unafraid to mix things up from time to time in order to keep opponents guessing and has high expectations after a moderately-successful Independents Cup and tactics and an opportunity to firmly stamp Omerica’s name back on the international map.

It's been a long grind since their debut back in the 75th edition but the Golden Eagles head into their campaign for the 81st edition as the holder of not one but two major trophies, with their final victories over Audioslavia and Drawkland giving them the Cup of Harmony title and the Independents Cup title respectively, with many back in Mercedini hoping they could use that as a base to qualify for their first World Cup in four editions. The team has been on the up ever since the MFA announced that Cenian gaffer Elidyr Lyndainium had been given the role of managing the Mercedinian National Football Team. With two major trophies under his belt, many are wondering how far he can take the national team, and whether or not his tactics and style of football will wear off anytime soon, much like former manager David Bjarnasson after he was sacked in the very next cycle after qualifying for the 77th World Cup.

In the previous cycle, it was a near miss for the lads in blue and black who comfortably finished in second position in their qualifying group; ahead of New Gazi but behind runaway leaders Farfadillis who secured the one and only automatic qualifying spot. After qualifying for a playoff spot, they were drawn against Banija who finished third in their own quals group and ranked substantially lower than the Golden Eagles in the KPB rankings, but that didn't stop the team in green and orange conjuring up the shock of the playoffs in the first leg, winning 3-0 in Quebec after their own stadium was deemed unsafe by domestic and international mediators. Mercedinian chances of qualification were pretty much dead as the second leg began in Zoloroni, and that was confirmed when a Mercedinian fightback was quelled by the Banijan team with an away goal. The Golden Eagles won the leg on the night with a stoppage time winner in the Sports City Stadium, but that rounded out a 5-3 aggregate win for Banija which meant they qualified for their maiden World Cup. For Mercedini, it was back to the Cup of Harmony for another run at the secondary post-quals tournament, where they had a perfect run in the group stage before claiming major scalps in the knockout stages. First it was Alpine Union and Qasden who were beaten within ninety minutes, before Kita-Hinode were beaten in the semi-final with a Dostalok goal in extra time. Finally, it was the biggest scalp of all as Mercedini overcame the two-time World Cup Champions Audioslavia on pentalties to claim their first even World Cup Cycle trophy in Vilita & Turori after a weeks of hard fought matches finally came to ahead. Now, the team do it all again as they enter the fray of qualifying for the 81st World Cup.

Four goalkeepers to pick from during qualification, with all the major players keeping their place in the side following decent performances for their domestic sides plus their continued good form for their national team. No changes made by Lyndainium, with Elspachia goalkeeper Rainard Tatius being promoted to second choice goalkeeper following his heroics in the Mercedinian Premier League, guiding his team to their first MPL title and a debut season in the UICA Champion's Cup next season. He displaces former first-choice goalkeeper Daniel Hosset who falls to fourth which follows a wishy-washy performance for Zoloroni City in the MPL, with the capital club failing to qualify for any UICA tournament for the first time in the club's history. Clean sheets will be on the agenda for the players and the coaching staff, in hope that that will complete half of the equation when it comes to grinding out results in a tough qualifying schedule. The four goalkeeper strategy seemed to work over the qualifying period in the previous edition, with the squad having a suitable amount of depth for the long and arduous group calendar, even if Lyndainium can afford to play the same goalkeeper over many days due to the less strenuous activites carried out in this role.. Goalkeepers are the final line of defence in many circumstances, meaning plenty of pressure is put on them throughout the game.

Plenty of changes in the defensive line-up for the 81st edition of the World Cup, ushered in by Lyndainium and signalling the change of the guard for the national team in many in many aspects, with the national team manager citing advancements in youth development and the recent performances of players in the most recent domestic season as the reasons for the change. There will be five new names in the roster for the qualification campaign, with nearly all of the big domestic teams represented in the defensive roster made up of eleven players. All of the top performers in last edition's team keep their placein the squad, with the centre-back position holding the biggest changes since the Independents Cup, with Trevasoni, Susila and Pajari all getting called up, with Koi and Dzudzev entering the roster to take up spot in the left and right-back positions respectively. Last edition, Mercedini had a much better time of it when it came to keeping out the opponent and limiting some of the biggest teams to minor chances. However, they need to brush up on their defending against the highest ranked teams, with New Gazi and especially Farfadillis holding plenty of keys to unlock the Mercedinian defence during qualification. Tog et to the World Cup in Banija and the Free Republics, the defensive coaching staff and players all need to find a fool proof method of keeping teams out on a consistent basis

Not too many changes in the midfield roster for qualifying for the 81st edition of the tournament, with only Dino Santa-Corvani added to the roster, replacing Patrick Jackic who was relegated to the second-tier of Mercedinian football for the second time in the most recent domestic season. Aside from that it is the same midfield which finished second in their qualifying group stage in the previous edition, with many of the players in that roster going on to win one or both of Mercedini's trophies during the Cup of Harmony and the Independents Cup, meaning there is plenty of pedigree in the team, resulting a fair few of the big teams across the multiverse vying for the signature of one or more of the players listed above. Lawrence Garzallo was upgraded from 3rd to 1st choice at left-mid with the young winger impressing at his domestic club and in his most recent international runout. Rumours are swirling about that Audioslavian club Cazordes Cathair may be lining up a bid for the Zoloroni Met player, however he is firmly focused on his international form as it stands. He completes a starting line-up with Kraljic, Nymark and Presic with plenty of squad depth available to the manager for the upcoming campaign.

ST Ben Chillotov 22 Image 1860 Azoth
ST Charlie Alotic 27 Image Pelethas United
ST Thomas Vorthik 22 Image Langtree United
ST Sgt. Sam Billic 33 Image Myrmidon

The four horsemen of the apocalypse are back, and this time they've bought a friend. That's right, Chillotov and Dostalok are back at the helm of the Mercedinian striking force as one of the most sought after signatures in the multiverse, and with the dissolution of the Terranian League and the SPL, it means both are looking for clubs in the upcoming transfer window so big performances are key to attract the eyes of potential suitors. Aside from that, Alotic and Billic return once again to give a supporting role to the young guns upfront, with Billic expected to retire from international duties in the coming age due to his age and his potential opportunities in the MFA when he retires. There could be a managerial reshuffle following the World Cup with Billic expected to take a position at one of the youth teams once he retires from international and club football meaning he can forward his knowledge to those up and coming on the Mercedinian sporting scene. Alotic has been performing well in his own right in an extremely competitive Harlighet Ligan in Cosumar, and will likely feature in further qualifying matches, mainly those against lower ranked opposition. Finally, the fifth and final member of the five-man band is Thomas Vorthik, the youngster has impressed in the previous two seasons at Langtree United, guiding his team to an MPL title and two UICA Globe Cup Group Stages, with one of those manifesting into a Globe Cup quarter final. All five players have major pedigree in their field, with all eyes on those players as the team look for goals and points as the matches come thick and fast

The prosperous capital of Mercedini is the stage for the Mercedinian campaign for World Cup Qualification once again. The Zoloroni Sports City Stadium was built in 2012 and has been the national team's home stadium since it was built. The stadium used to hold over 61,000 people, but a recent refurbishment meant that the capacity has increased by approximately 13,000 with the new capacity sitting at roughly 74,500 with the new visiting allocation still being just less than a quarter of that at 18,000. The stadium has hosted a Baptism of Fire final and an Independent's Cup third-place play-off, those matches were combined with it's hosting of weekly Zoloroni City matches in the MPL, but the capital team have since been evicted after they built their own stadium just down the road. The stadium is still accustomed to regular football featuring the nation's and the multiverse's best teams, when it hosts the MFA Cup final plus playoff finals for National League 1 and National League 2. Mercedinians and visiting spectators who don't have tickets can have a drink in one of the many bars and pubs or they can chill in the World Cup FanZone where they can watch the matches on the big screens along with other football enthusiasts.

Mercedini has two national languages and both are universally spoken in the nation as children are taught both at a young age. Mercedinian is the native language of all citizens and is based around the Italian language, knowing the language isn't paramount to a tourist's experience but Mercedinians always appreciate a foreigner attempting to communicate in Mercedinian. If learning a foreign language isn't your thing then English is also universally spoken throughout the nation (especially in cities and other metropolitan areas as it is considered the language of business and commerce). It is common for Mercedinians to speak more than one language with some opting for a third if proficient enough in their previous two, Google Translate is also only a couple of clicks away if you need it.

Mercedini's national currency is the Mercede (M) and is used universally for the nation's transactions. Currently, the Mercede is a strong and reliable currency with 1.56 NationStates Dollars equalling 1 Yvroni (M0.64 = 1 NS$). Goods & Services in Mercedini are comparably cheap thanks to low operating costs, free-trade deals and low import tariffs for foreign goods, they can be paid for using the common Mercede currency, although visitors can pay with NS Dollars or use their credit or debit cards, with card users ruged to pay in their own currency for better conversion rates. Citizens of Mercedini are pretty well-off with average incomes topping ¥145,000 (226,822 NS$) which means luxury goods & services are as much a part of Mercedinian shopping-culture as the bargains.

Food & Drink is considered a pillar of Mercedinian culture, which means visitors are literally in for a treat when they visit one of the nations many cafes, restaurants, bars or pubs. As previously mentioned, integration has played a large part in the cuisine, but ultimately Mercedinian cuisine has stayed largely close to it's roots. Mercedinian cuisine, like the language, is based on Italian cuisine, with flavourful pasta and rice dishes on offer, along with pizzas and stuffed flatbreads perfect for carnivores and vegetarians. For the tourists, dishes from their home nation will always be on offer which means that visitors can always have a taste of home while enjoying the action in Mercedini. If you're a fan of carb crashes, we think you'll love our nosh!

As it is the official capital city of Mercedini as well as the commercial hub of the nation, Zoloroni is large bustling city littered with modern skyscrapers and office buildings. Zoloroni will be at the centre of the action, holding the host arena as well as hosting most of the pre-festival events that will happen in Mercedini. Visitors will not be disappointed as Zoloroni has restaurants, shops and sightseeing trips in abundance, meaning that performers and fans have plenty of activities waiting for them on their off-days. Zoloroni's main attraction is the Sports City and the shopping centres located just a small journey away from the city centre.

Mercedinans are generally very peaceful to visitors and will pretty much always help out foreigners if they need a recommendation for a restaurant or need help finding direction of their favourite tourist spot, Mercedinian usually keep to themselves out on the street but will converse with almost anyone if approached in a friendly manner, and it always helps to know a bit of Mercedinian first. As a nation, Mercedini welcomes new visitors with open arms and hopes every tourist has a great experience in our nation. Andiamo!

Coaching Staff

Manager -- Alan Dzekov
Alan Dzekov gets his first chance to take charge of the Goldhorns for World Cup Qualifiers. The manager has been the architect of some of the team’s most famous victories, such as the 3-2 win over Jeruselem at Cup of Harmony 72, or the 4-2 win over Qasden at AOCAF LVI. At the same time, however, he has experienced defeates such as the 6-1 loss to Kita-Hinode at that same Cup of Harmony, and the 4-0 loss to Cosumar in the opening match at AOCAF LVI. The process of developing the Goldhorns into a solid national side continues, and the team can be quite proud of their reaching the Round of 16 at the AOCAF. World Cup Qualifiers return now, and it’s another opportunity for the side to develop. Dzekov is quite an offensive-minded manager, and the team are expected to use his 4-3-3 formation during the Qualifiers. Don’t be surprised, however, to see a 4-2-3-1 or even using three at the back for a 3-5-2.

Assistant Managers -- Kasper Knauer, Ivan Rosic

National Pool
This time around, Alan Dzekov has named 35 players to the national team pool for the Qualifiers. 23 will be called up for each fixture. Players are listed in order of likelihood to play. Caps are accurate to the end of AOCAF LVI, and ages are accurate to the start of qualifiers.

Goalkeeper
GK -- Viktor VENEV -- FK Metropola Borograd -- 32y/o -- 25 caps, 6 clean sheets
GK -- Julian FEHR -- FC Teussen Stelburg -- 31y/o -- 3 caps, 1 clean sheet
GK -- Yanko ZHELYASKOV -- Olympia Borograd -- 22y/o -- 3 caps
GK -- Anatoli SVETEIKOV -- FK Pomorie -- 25y/o -- Uncapped

This should be an interesting position to watch. Viktor Venev enters the Qualifiers as the number one choice, but it’s unclear as to whether he will keep it. Julian Fehr is eager to take over, and had some great performances at the AOCAF. Fehr and Venev, 31 and 32 respectively, are also going to be challenged by some younger faces. Yanko Zhelysakov, who backstopped his Olympia Borograd side to a Republikaliga title last season, believes that his time is now. He should expect to earn more opportunities this round of Qualifiers. Another option in goal is Anatoli Sveteikov, from FK Pomorie. Sveteikov is a very good option for playing the ball, and would be helpful in a system involving building from the back. He is the fourth choice here, but it would not be surprising to see him capped.

Left Back
LB -- Dietmar KLEINMANN -- FC Teussen Stelburg -- 27y/o -- 29 caps -- 1 assist
LB -- Lyubomir DIMITROV -- FK Metropola Borograd -- 24y/o -- 9 caps
LB -- Paul SCHORNER -- SW Stahlberg -- Uncapped

Dietmar Kleinmann gets the call again as the main option at left back for the national team. His pace is quite valuable in Alan Dzekov’s system, and often plays a part in many offensive opportunities coming up from his side of the park. On defence, he rarely finds himself out of position. Lyubomir Dimitrov is the backup for, capped 9 times for his country, and has developed into a very good player. His crossing is his best attribute, but he also reads the play very well and is always ready to make a run or key pass to open up something. Paul Schorner is another option here, he is similar to Kleinmann in that pace is his most valuable skill. He is not simply a pace merchant, however, and his defensive skills are very strong.

Centre Back
CB -- Raphael KLOPFER -- 1912 Stelburg -- 27y/o -- 31 caps -- 1 goal, 1 assist
CB -- Nikola KARAPETROV -- Olympia Borograd -- 26y/o -- 7 caps
CB -- Stefan LICHT -- FC St. Jakob -- 27y/o -- 14 caps
CB -- Daniel PINGOV -- Vrnovo Mesto -- 28y/o -- 17 caps
CB -- Erich THIERSE -- FC Rotmunde 1932 -- 24y/o -- Uncapped

Throughout the history of the team so far, one man has held down a place in the starting 11 at centre back: Raphael Klopfer. The 1912 Stelburg man has been capped 31 times, and scored his first goal for the team at the AOCAF. He is a solid ball-playing defender, playing numerous balls forward for the front line and taking risks to create plays. It’s expected that Nikola Karapetrov will start beside him, he has been a fixture in the team since the Cup of Harmony last cycle. Karapetrov is another ball-playing defender but less risk-minded, making him a strong partner for Klopfer, a duo that has developed a solid chemistry so far. Stefan Licht, who was dropped from the squad at the AOCAF, should see a return at these Qualifiers, and has the opportunity to earn back his place in the lineup. Daniel Pingov is also here, capped 17 times, he is likely to be used in situations that require lots of defending. Erich Thierse is another player likely to be selected at some point, he has been performing well for his club in the Republikaliga so far this season and could be the next player to make his debut on the international stage.

Right Back
RB -- Lutz DASCHNER -- 1912 Stelburg -- 30y/o -- 30 caps -- 2 assists
RB -- Thorsten HELMKE -- FC Felsenkirchen 1879 -- 25y/o -- 9 caps -- 1 assist
RB -- Atanas VELIKOV -- FK Vlaikograd 1896 -- 28y/o -- Uncapped

Lutz Daschner is the first choice again at this tournament, across his 30 caps he has always been one of the most consistent performers for the Goldhorns. He has many tricks up his sleeve, and his crossing often results in a strong opportunity for the team. Behind him, Thorsten Helmke stays further back than Daschner does, but has a knack for passing the ball forwards to the right man at the right time. Behind them, Atanas Velikov wants to take his shot at playing for his country, and has the quality to do it. He is quite similar to Daschner, a strong runner on the ball who can also cross.

Centre Midfield
CM -- Thorsten KRAMER -- FC Teussen Stelburg -- 21y/o -- 32 caps -- 6 goals, 9 assists
CM -- Vladimir KOSTOV -- Olympia Borograd -- 31y/o -- 16 caps -- 1 goal, 1 assist
CM -- Dennis BROTZMANN -- FC St. Jakob -- 27y/o -- 24 caps
CM -- Evgeni ANTONOV -- Energija Chernovets -- 26y/o -- 21 caps
CM -- Varban SPASOV -- FK Vlaikograd 1896 -- 22y/o -- Uncapped

‘Teusland’s Golden Boy’ sing the faithful of FC Teussen Stelburg any time Thorsten Kramer is on the ball, the young midfielder having become one of the greatest players in the RL and on the national team. He can play both as a playmaker in midfield or right behind the forwards to capitalize on chances. He has mainly been seen in that playmaking roll, and he has a great passing ability. 9 assists for his through 32 caps, in addition to 6 goals. Vladimir Kostov usually plays beside him, the big man who is a very physical presence on the field. He rarely has the ball taken away from him, and is an excellent midfield destroyer; always able to challenge for balls and put in a shift on defence. Dennis Brotzmann, capped 24 times, is a strong anchor in midfield and is generally seen as the backup for Kostov. Evgeni Antonov is a player that has been valuable for the national team in the past, but hasn’t really found a lot of time under Alan Dzekov. He is a forward-driven midfielder who links together the team well. Varban Spasov is another attack-minded midfielder, and has quite a similar style to Thorsten Kramer. He has a very powerful shot, and has never been afraid to use it.

Left Wing
LW -- Paulus LEISTNER -- FC Kaiserhaven -- 28y/o -- 23 caps -- 3 goals, 7 assists
LW -- Lutz VON BERGEN -- SW Stahlberg -- 26y/o -- 4 caps -- 2 assists
LW -- Ingolf KRUGER -- Marlesee 97 -- 23y/o -- Uncapped

Paulus Leistner remains the number one choice on the left side for Alan Dzekov, the Kaiserhaven man having been with the team since scoring in its very first game. He has been a strong playmaker on the international level, with his crossing ability creating several chances for the Goldhorns. Behind him are two relatively inexperienced players. Lutz von Bergen came into the squad at the recent AOCAF tournament, and has looked strong on all four of his caps, earning 2 assists in that time. Von Bergen is a very strong passer of the ball, and has great chemistry with forward Michael Ribbeck due to time spent together at the club level. Ingolf Kruger is a speedy winger that is often willing to take his own chances, with a great shot and also a solid free kick taker.

Centre Attacking Midfield
CAM -- Viktor DIMITROV -- Energija Chernovets -- 26y/o -- 32 caps -- 2 goals, 17 assists
CAM -- Ernst SCHOFF -- FC Teussen Stelburg -- 25y/o -- 1 cap
CAM -- Jurgen STERN -- DKI Telecom Jets (MRA) -- 28y/o -- 12 caps -- 2 goals, 2 assists
CAM -- Rolf SEYFRIED -- FC Felsenkirchen 1879 -- 25y/o -- Uncapped

Viktor Dimitrov has been the creative force for the Goldhorns throughout his international career. Capped 32 times, the midfielder has a knack for making a perfect pass at the right time to send forth one of his forwards. In addition to that, he has a very good shot and can place the ball into either corner. Dimitrov is also a very good free kick taker. Ernst Schoff hopes to build on his first cap in these Qualifiers, he is another midfielder with playmaking talents and a good read of the game. Jurgen Stern hopes to put his national team career back on track here, he’s been capped 12 times with 2 goals and 2 assists but hasn’t been at the top of Alan Dzekov’s list recently. Also adding to depth here is Rolf Seyfried, the Felsenkirchen midfielder hoping to earn his first few caps in these Qualifiers.

Right Wing
RW -- Ivo ROMANOV -- Olympia Borograd -- 26y/o -- 32 caps -- 9 goals, 7 assists
RW -- Leo HEIDEN -- FC St. Jakob -- 22y/o -- Uncapped
RW -- Ivo ILEV -- FK Pomorie -- 25y/o -- Uncapped

Ivo Romanov has developed into one of the brightest stars of this national team. He’s won everything there is to win in national club football: President’s Cup, Republikaliga Champion, and League Golden Ball winner. For the national team, he sits second on the all-time scoring charts with 9 goals in his 32 caps. Romanov has a great shot on him, and combining that with his pace gives us a player that can create one moment of brilliance to win the game for his team. Leo Heiden is next in line, the St. Jakob midfielder called into the squad for the AOCAF but yet to win a cap. Ivo Ilev is another player eager to earn a chance here, as behind Romanov not a single right winger considered for the team has been capped. The Pomorie winger has been described as a player quite similar to Romanov in style.

Centre Forward
CF -- Krasimir KYNEV -- Olympia Borograd -- 23y/o -- 10 caps -- 4 goals
CF -- Michael RIBBECK -- SW Stahlberg -- 20y/o -- 5 caps -- 5 goals
CF -- Anton DIMITROV -- FK Metropola Borograd -- 24y/o -- 5 caps -- 3 goals
CF -- Miroslav DINEV -- Energija Chernovets -- 31y/o -- 26 caps -- 13 goals, 1 assist
CF -- Ludwig REICHWEIN -- TSV Marzig -- 24y/o -- Uncapped

Tough choices await Alan Dzekov as to who should wear the number 9 shirt for the country. Krasimir Kynev was an integral part of the Olympia Borograd team that won the title this season, and has been a Golden Boot winner in the Republikaliga. Michael Ribbeck was the star of the AOCAF for this team, and has managed to score 5 goals in his 5 caps so far. He continues to put in stellar performances in the Republikaliga, and led his team to the President’s Cup title. Anton Dimitrov put up 31 goals in the Republikaliga last season, winning the Golden Boot, and has always threatened for a place in the starting XI. Then there’s the captain, Miroslav Dinev, the country’s top goalscorer with the most experience of all. Uncapped Ludwig Reichwein, always a consistent scorer in the Republikaliga, could also see chances come his way as well. Alan Dzekov can’t really go wrong here, with a plethora of great forwards available to him in this squad.

Set Pieces
Left Corners: Dietmar Kleinmann
Right Corners: Lutz Daschner
Free Kicks: Viktor Dimitrov, Thorsten Kramer
Penalties: Krasimir Kynev, Michael Ribbeck, Miroslav Dinev, Ivo Romanov

Captains
Default captain is Miroslav Dinev. If he is subbed off or not starting, it will pass to Lutz Daschner, Raphael Klopfer, Thorsten Kramer and finally Viktor Venev, in that order.

The national team debuts new kits and a new crest in time for World Cup 81’s Qualifiers. The new crest, circular, features an edelweiss in the middle with blue and gold colour around it. The home kit is coloured mainly gold, with blue highlights. In addition, a blue stripe is in the middle of the kit, with the crest inside. Gold shorts and blue socks round out the home design. The away kit is coloured mainly blue, with gold highlights and a gold stripe. Blue shorts and gold socks complete the design. The blue and gold here come from the flag of the country. The goalkeeper kit, not pictured, is fully green. Green was both the colour of the House of Stajovic, Siovanija’s old imperial family, and the colour of the uniforms of many Knights from Teusland during several historical conflicts. The national team’s uniforms truly are able to represent the entire nation.

The stadium used by the national team for these qualifiers will be the Nationalstadion.

The Nationalstadion seats 75,000 and is located downtown in Stelburg. Stelburg is the second largest city in Teusland, located on the River Drai in the central part of the country. It is quite historical, with many buildings dating from the old Imperial era, when Stelburg served as capital of Imperial Teusland. The stadium itself, largest in the nation, plays host to the final and semi-final of the President’s Cup each season, and is the primary stadium of the national team. It will host each of the Goldhorns’ qualifying matches this campaign.

Group and Schedule

The Goldhorns have been drawn into Group 14 for World Cup Qualifying, alongside 9 other teams:

Siovanija and Teusland (84)
Sargossa (21)
Raffiah (307)
Thibaea (224)
Sangti (UR)
Kita-Hinode (40)
Soute (207)
Alpine Union (59)
Main Nation Ministry (126)
Altai Almas (272)

There are some familiar faces in this group. Kita-Hinode and the Alpine Union were in the same group as Siovanija and Teusland at Cup of Harmony 72. The match with the Alpine Union ended in a 2-2 draw, while Kita-Hinode handed the Goldhorns their biggest defeat in history, 6-1. Certainly the national team will be hoping for a better result this time around. Elsewhere, the highest ranked team in the group is Sargossa, 21st in the world. Other names to note are Main Nation Ministry, ranked 126, and the unranked Sangti.

Schedule
Matchday 1: Siovanija and Teusland vs Altai Almas (Nationalstadion, Stelburg)
Matchday 2: Siovanija and Teusland vs Sargossa (Nationalstadion, Stelburg)
Matchday 3: Raffiah vs Siovanija and Teusland
Matchday 4: Siovanija and Teusland vs Thibaea (Nationalstadion, Stelburg)
Matchday 5: Sangti vs Siovanija and Teusland
Matchday 6: Siovanija and Teusland vs Kita-Hinode (Nationalstadion, Stelburg)
Matchday 7: Soute vs Siovanija and Teusland
Matchday 8: Siovanija and Teusland vs Alpine Union (Nationalstadion, Stelburg)
Matchday 9: Main Nation Ministry vs Siovanija and Teusland
Matchday 10: Altai Almas vs Siovanija and Teusland
Matchday 11: Sargossa vs Siovanija and Teusland
Matchday 12: Siovanija and Teusland vs Raffiah (Nationalstadion, Stelburg)
Matchday 13: Thibaea vs Siovanija and Teusland
Matchday 14: Siovanija and Teusland vs Sangti (Nationalstadion, Stelburg)
Matchday 15: Kita-Hinode vs Siovanija and Teusland
Matchday 16: Siovanija and Teusland vs Soute (Nationalstadion, Stelburg)
Matchday 17: Alpine Union vs Siovanija and Teusland
Matchday 18: Siovanija and Teusland vs Main Nation Ministry (Nationalstadion, Stelburg)

A difficult road ahead for the Goldhorns. The national team opens Qualifiers with two home matches, against Altai Almas followed by the visit of group favourites Sargossa to the Nationalstadion. Visits to Raffiah and Sangti broken up by a home date with Thibaea lead up to the home match with another powerhouse, Kita-Hinode. After that, the Goldhorns travel to Soute and Main Nation Ministry with a home match with the Alpine Union in the middle. The second half of Qualifiers, which sees away games against both Sargossa and Kita-Hinode, will be very difficult for the Goldhorns.

Siovanija and Teusland’s national football team steps up to its next challenge, World Cup 81 Qualifiers. The Stelburger Zeitung brings you full coverage of each step on the journey.

Competitive Solitaire National Football Association
The Competitive Solitaire FA plays a 4-3-3 Narrow formation which consists of two wingers, a striker, an attacking midfielder, two center midfielders, two center backs, and two fullbacks. The team is trained to counterattack and commit to one of the three channels. Crossing and threading through balls are valued higher than dribbling for a goal, encouraging teamwork. Following the retirement of Francesco Di Pietro, the exciting prospect Aleksander Marković has been selected from the Competitive Solitaire U21s to be filling in the left wing position in the senior squad. After a shameful result in the group stage for the 80th edition of the World Cup, head coach Marten Van Wegberg has been replaced with Josef Thibaut, former manager of Zagreb FC and a former professional footballer. Proving to be incompetent, former captain Linus Papp's armband was revoked and handed to Wolfram Kappel after showing his superior leadership skills. Being an injury prone player, the FA saw it fit to assign Leo Sokolov the role of vice-captain and assign an undisclosed player on the bench to the third string. After an intense meeting following WC80, the board declared that the tactics provided by the FA were in no way flawed, but instead the personnel executing said tactics were incapable or incompetent in the follow through resulting in the squad performing poorly. After a series of success, the Klaus United U21 goalkeeping coach has replaced the previous occupant in the senior squad of the FA and an outside candidate has been elected to take over as the set-piece specialist. Several other personnel were removed or replaced, whether it be due to performance or liability to the FA.

Postby Karulicja » Mon Aug 27, 2018 3:15 am

A new name on the block and one that will try and take the stage with a lot of nerves, lead out by Dusan Azzini. The 49-year old used to a prolific winger with a bit of a short temper but remastered himself into a pensive manager. Not sure what to expect from the international level, he’ll take on the opposition with a blistering 3-4-1-2, heavily reliant upon the industriousness of his defensive block of five and the touch of genius from a pivotal Trevisan and star striker Prigidar. Expect Azzini to stand by his tactical scheme, preferring to go down in glory over a consolidated small loss. The Independents Cup, where Karulicja managed to look at least half-decent, confirmed his views on that.

Image

1 - Roberto Moscardelli (GK - 34 - Societa Cadenza)

The oldest player in the squad makes an imposing figure between the sticks, standing tall at nearly two metres. With his experience, he should be able to guide an insecure defensive line through the pitfalls of international football whilst dominating his box. It’s not rare to see him use the full space available, charging forward and tackling the ball out of danger. However, the national captain never was the quickest to the ground and can be beaten by a calm striker. Known as an art lover, one can find homemade paintings at the right dealers.

12 - Luca Bonnici (GK - 25 - Birxenda Wanderers)

Even if Bonnici ain’t an exceptional goalie, his skill in a one-on-one situation is well above average. Add to that a prolific penalty record and you’ve got yourself a goalie that can plant insecurity in the heads of the opposing strikers. Rather a late bloomer, this geography teacher by education had to fight for his spot at Birxenda for years. That he managed to win over the crowd after all testifies to his tenacity. Up until seventeen, the blonde - a rarity in Karulicja - goalie turned out as a left defender and inherited good feet from that experience.

23 - Jacopo Vianello (GK - 24 - Pro Sovanzaro)

One man on the squad knows that his chances to hit the field will be rare and it seems as a clever choice from Azzini to pick Vianello for such a role. Vianello makes a decent goalie, quick to the ground but a tad too short for the real top level, and is aware of his strengths and weaknesses. Don’t expect long complaints in the press if he’s kept on the bench. Nonetheless, some followers at Pro believe he should be aiming for the number one jersey once Moscardelli, inevitably, retires at some point. Not the man to pounce his fist on the table.

2 - Dexter Micallef (RD - 23 - Birxenda Wanderers)

Tough and athletic, Micallef has the perfect build for a relentless defender with the stamina for infiltration. However, he’s not always that secure when moving into enemy territory, which could expose his wing. No wonder that the gaffer tries to mold him and his head - better used for heading - into a central defender in this system. Could be a revelation at this level, but on the other hand a liability. Great pressure on this player who is notorious for his love for sports cars. Has mentioned he aspires to partake in races one day - once it’s no longer forbidden by his club.

3 - Periklys Kaflas (CD - 29 - Apollon Grikada)

The centerpiece of the three-man defence lined up by Dusan Azzini is tough as nails and combines a no-prisoners-taken policy with good positioning. Both do mask a little bit that he’s not the quickest of them all, which makes him resort at Grikada to the offside trap. We sense that the most famous bald man in Karulicja will try to use the little time with the national team to get his co-defenders to master that trick. Despite his imposing look, Kaflas is a family man and did all he could to ensure that his kids could watch the games live.

4 - Marko Ban (CD - 24 - Inter Valesjka)

Quite possibly the most talented of our central defenders, Ban made a name for himself at one of the undisputable top clubs of the nation. Already at a young age, he became the cornerstone of the Inter back four - quite a feat in a traditional bastion as Valesjka. However, the guys around him, with a decade more experience under their belt, had to admit that his blend of physical prowess and good feet make a modern back as our country has so few. Not the best of friends with the press after a few scandals.

5 - Hamzi Derbali (LD - 26 - Racing Mazaf)

Do not let the shirt jersey foul you, Derbali will appear rather as a left winger in the 3-4-1-2 set up by Azzini. Easily one of the key players of the team, this should allow him to roam along the wing and get some of his sweeping crosses in the box. Derbali combines unusual stamina with a cool head and more often than not, this allows him to still bring a last-second tackle or a decisive counterattack in the dying minutes. One of the few players who is well aware of the international scene, he might be ready to talk to the inevitable scouts.

13 - Wael de Angelis (CD - 32 - Societa Cadenza)

One of the more disputed picks of Azzini, as de Angelis has gotten a negative reputation for being too prone to card-grabbing and lacks the speed to handle younger opponents. However, it would be unfair to discard a decade at the heart of possibly the most demanding team of the nation as ‘pure coincidence’. Azzini probably selected him as he’s known to be loyal and if he gets parachuted in in case of emergency, there’s already a connection with goalie Moscardelli - after all he’s the godfather of Roberto’s youngest son.

19 - Armend Rroshi (CD - 24 - Luftetari Eisan)

Somewhere, probably in one of the various mind numbing industrial terrains in the suburbs of Eisan, there must be a factory where Luftetari manages to role tough-as-nails guys off the assembly line. Rroshi is a typical product of that school which takes every tackle on headfirst, sometimes literally, and who considers it an honour to defend any shirt you put him in. His technical limitations make him someone you throw in to park the bus and Azzini will probably put that role on his name. Powerful in the air as well, and good for a few successful headers each season.

6 - Apostol Hysi (DM - 29 - Luftetari Eisan)

In line with the guys behind him, Hysi refuses to lay down and the way he keeps on galloping up and down the pitch makes you think that Eisan installed a third lung a good decade ago when they hired him for the spot. Don’t expect him to create the danger or launch a decent pass into space, but he’s not put out there for that reason. Hysi is such a characteristic loyal soldier, you’ld think he’s playing it as an act. His silly interviews do contribute to that impression - he tends to reply his boutades with such enthusiasm, it’s a running gag to fans.

7 - Graziano Ceccarelli (DM - 22 - Pro Sovanzaro)

Notably more technically apt than his counterpart at the heart of the line-up, Graziano should give the engine something more than just a lot of horsepower. He’s not afraid to direct the play and his crosses tear a hole in opposing defenses every once and a while. However, it brings a level of risk to this team that might bring it in trouble against the right opposition. Ceccarelli solves most of the defending part of his task set with good positioning but he’s not afraid to put his foot out either. A player with potential but a lot to learn and not just for his PhD in geography.

14 - Christos Gialousis (DM - 27 - Apollon Grikada)

Gialousis is told he can’t give a half-decent pass, lacks the intelligence to appear in the right place and fails the discipline to follow the scheme set up. And to be fair, there’s a harsh truth uncovered right there. That he nonetheless makes the squad is due to his capacity to break the opposing attack, more often than not with a scythe-like tackle. Bringing him in could be a last resort for Azzini to defend a slim advantage or a rare draw but we struggle to see other uses for him. Oh, except for headbutting a rival coach - his counter is on three instances.

15 - Josip Pajic (CM - 21 - Inter Valesjka)

Not the best passer of the selection but as his coach says, “Josip’s got brains and legs - you can’t have it all, right?”. Add to that a flawless mentality and a touching willingness to learn, and you get every manager’s dream. At his age, there’s still room for evolution - deciding the pace of a game is one of those things - but Pajic has the potential to have as much impact on Karulicja as he has on Inter. Rarely scores, but his wild appearances in the box do wreak some havoc and create room for guys with better food. A notorious amateur chef as well.

22 - Walid Mlaouek (CM - 21 - Racing Mazaf)

A pick with an eye on the future as Mlaouek, who can combine a defensive role with dangerous infiltrations, makes a pretty picture as a modern football. Unfortunately, he tends to lose his head a little when the pressure is too much, a tendency that has gampered his progress so far. Nonetheless, Azzini is correct in detecting his obvious talent. He could come on as an alternative to both Trevisan, Ujkashi or Ceccharelli due to his stamina meets great feet combination. Earned some cult hero status domestically for crowdsurfing the Mazaf Kop after a derby victory.

10 - Giuseppe Trevisan (AM - 27 - Societa Cadenza)

Some people say that every team can be defined by their number ten and in that case, our currently still nickname-less squad will come across quite industrious, tactically loose and with a very specific penchant for lobbing the leather behind the backs of unsuspecting defences. Trevisan has been the key man for Cadenza for a few years now and made his case as starter based on a combination of good statistics and almost no off-days. However, he’s not an ultratalent and needs good support to truly become valuable. Loves touching the ball and will fold back far when necessary.

16 - Blazo Ujkashi (AM - 26 - Luftetari Eisan)

Not necessarily the second best attacking midfielder of the nation - something which assured Azzini with a lot of stick when he added Ujkashi to the selection. But, it must be said that he offers something different than Trevisan with a lot of movement and a powerful shot which reaps results. Having him on your XI does cost you a guy in your defensive framework and as such, it’s a risk to field him from kick-off onwards. However, Blazo does have that spark and is a hero in Eisan - or how do you call a guy with a stand named after him at 26? His good performances in the IC put him on equal footing with Trevisan.

8 - Ales Kunstelj (RW - 21 - Olimpia Lusinja)

Author of an incredible life story, Kunstelj got kicked out of his home at fifteen - seemingly in line with his school career which reads as a full list of all colleges in the north. However, since he was picked up by an Olimpia scout who noticed how he scammed unknowing youngsters of their lunch money by nutmegging them near the pier, his life reached unprecedented stability. The shortest of the squad features incredible dribbles and is pocket sized joy for all - well, except for the guys who pick up his defensive work in this system.

17 - Anis Khalloufi (LW - 18 - Racing Mazaf)

Being the only teenager selected should already testify to his talent, knocking on the door of the starting line-up confirms it all. Khalloufi moves swiftly and can be parachuted into practically any attacking position. His lack of experience shines through, however, and even if he has his usual clubmate Derbali behind him, his love of forcing his way through the defence might lead to danger. Nonetheless, the neutral fan will adore seeing him set the place alight and his open attitude to interviews “yeah, I’m that good, mate” adds to that.

21 - Dino Stipic (LW - 22 - Inter Valesjka)

After a long period of remaining below the surface, Stipic had his definitive breakthrough season last year with a series of perfect crosses for Prigidar - a partnership which hasn’t gone unnoticed to the manager. Contrary to most in his position, Stipic started out as a defender as a consequence of his limited speed. He compensates this with impeccable timing and the stamina to keep his rushes coming till the final minute. His defensive accountability makes him a polyvalent tool in the kit for the gaffer. Stipic is a huge boardgame fan, which should be handy for the trips.

9 - Danijel Prigidar (RA - 31 - Inter Valesjka)

Some point to Derbali, others to Trevisan but the majority of observers considers Danijel Prigidar as the main man of the Karulicjan line-up. Robust in the box, goal-oriented without being too selfish, clever in his positioning, … As such, he’s a dream for any midfielder as he always attempts to create the danger and poses himself as reliable. Many wonder if his mediocre speed and average heading - for his height - will not handicap him against defenders of a higher tier but until we’re there, the whole nation gets behind Prigigol.

11 - Mauro Pagliarulo (LA - 23 - Societa Cadenza)

Azzini made it no secret that he preferred players he considered useful for the team, instead of the biggest talents and Pagliarulo forms no exception that rule. Even at his club, most would consider him the understudy of the local goalgetter Altacci. But contrary to his counterpart, Pagliarulo covers a lot of ground, opens up space for others and will never put his own stats over those of the team. His aim is not always spot on and it’s not too rare to see him caught offside - but he’s good for the group and not just as the resident bookie.

18 - Ciro Piccini (CA - 28 - Pro Sovanzaro)

And just when we all believed Azzini managed to gather a disciplined, motivated squad, he dropped a little bomb by putting Piccini on the final spot. Having made quite a reputation for himself quarreling with managers, presidents, referees and fans alike in between filling up tabloids for his adventures in bars and motels, Piccini almost makes people forget he’s a deadly assassin in the box whose precision one-on-one is unmatched. During the Independents Cup, he showed he’s not the rotten tomato in the pack but the dangerous ace up the sleeve.

20 - Gianni Altacci (ST - 26 - Societa Cadenza)

Statisticians are still out on the case but we dare to assume that Altacci has the highest goals per minute ratio of any Karulicjan striker out there. One could say it’s one of the perks for playing at Cadenza, probably our biggest team, others point out he’s got an amazing shot, powerful and precise. But he also, despite good intentions, struggles to last ninety minutes and even has a bit of a belly peeping out. No wonder that the Societa tifosi admire him as one of their own - queue fans buying him beer around the clock - and opposition fans bring out the ‘who ate all the pies’ chant.

Nickname: the Patriots

Champions of their region; champions of the world. Champions of the... Cup of Champions, too. And the last team in the world to concede, making it through the entire first half of qualifying before dropping a clean sheet. Everything seems to be coming up Patriots, eh? Despite a lack of history, prestige, world-class talent or a consistent goalscorer, they're somehow winning just about everything at the moment, and they've celebrated by losing a number of steady veterans to international retirement. Gryphon won't be here to defend the title, nor will the redoubtable Elsie Drover, while Woodgate and Szubanski's inexorable march through their 30s continues apace, as tends to happen with time. Reid must continue to straddle the delicate balance - manage a creditable title defence (nobody expects them to finish the job), while also nurturing the precious, rare signs of life of the Brenecian youth who will be starting four, five years down the line.

First Team and Tactics
Image
Jim Reid focuses on a tight-knit 4-1-4-1 formation, two solid banks of four glued together by Alweather's harsh taskmastery. The defence is strong and tight, the central midfield combining physicality and technique with the wingers the main creative outlets. Up front, the striker must forge something of a lonely path, pressing from the front and holding up the ball for support. It's a physically uncompromising, dour side. When they need to chase a match, Carrick can be thrown on as a poacher up front in a 4-4-2.

Staff
Manager - Jim Reid (PCR) - Age 51
Asst. Manager - Colm Beckwith - Age 48

Jim Reid was the backbone behind the inexplicably successful Port Christopher national football team for years, a former striker who based his success on a simple, disciplined approach. He built his sides from the back, made sure everyone knew what they had to do and then pumped them up to a point where they'd run through walls, walk over coal and, more literally, form micronations for him. Perhaps the least glamorous manager in the world; perhaps the best. Colm Beckwith, the incumbent assistant manager, has kept his place, and is thought of as a keen, progressive sort.

Goalkeepers
Core
1 - GK - Mathis Woodgate (Image Spartangrad) - Age 36 - 183 caps, 79 clean sheets
A world-class pure shot-stopper, reliable and solid. Has had something of a nomadic club career, playing in five nations, but his class has never been in doubt. Said he'd internationally retire after the World Cup. He hasn't. A nation is grateful.

12 - GK - Rostyn Calhoun (Image Wexax United) - Age 29 - 26 caps, 17 clean sheets
While still prone to the occasional howler, Calhoun is a big, acrobatic lad who has largely impressed for the national team. In true Brenecian fashion, he's been something of a journeyman.

20 - GK - Aidan Hartigan (Image Metropolis Alligators) - Age 30 - 6 caps, 3 clean sheets
Has recovered from having too many hopes around his shoulders to become a redoubtable shot-stopper. Tall, athletic and quick-footed.

Defenders
2 - RB - Keziah Broxham (Image Mallox) - Age 22 - 19 caps
Broxham is not the nicest defender in the world. She's short, sharp, quick and decisive in her movements. If you don't mind a fair bit of needle in the tackle, and even off the ball, the lippy rightback's one of the most promising out there.

3 - LB - Gethin Quill (Image Revolutionaries) - Age 27 - 59 caps, 3 goals
Short and stocky, Quill's a quick, powerful runner and isn't afraid to show a little muscle defending his corner. A dirty street-fighter with the technique to back it up, exactly the kind of player everyone hates but secretly wants on their team. When Revolutionaries plucked him from obscurity, as he was cast aside in the aftermath of Union's disgrace, their fans were understandably sceptical. He won them over, fast.

5 - CB - Cheney Heneghan (Image Ernesse Stahl) - Age 29 - 61 caps, 1 goal
A big, brawny defender, a man's man, all action all the time. Strong and tough comes standard for centre-halves, but fast is a nice boost on top of that. Just don't ask him to play the ball out.

6 - CB - Niko Szubanski (Image 1830 Cathair, c) - Age 32 - 64 caps, 3 goals
Szubanski's main asset is his physicality. Not just tall and strong, but fast for a centre-half, with a penchant for sliding challenges. Just a defender's defender, proven at the highest level.

18 - RB/CB - Chadwick Beath (Image Blue Coast 1981) - Age 26 - 23 caps
A brawny, powerful defender, versatile both on and off the pitch, who has played in three nations already - none of them Brenecia.

19 - LB - Morwen Prentice (Image Westpike United) - Age 21 - 19 caps
A lean, elegant fullback, comfortable with the ball at her feet. Still young and lacking experience at the top level, but her confidence and technique will take her far if she can sharpen up defensively.

22 - CB - Garwyn Varney (Image Soldarian FC) - Age 28 - 29 caps
Raw power, physicality and unbridled Brenecian sexual energy. Still a little clumsy and prone to bundling people over, but he's shed some of his coltishness with experience abroad.

Midfielders
4 - DM - Roisin Staunton (Image Kingsgrove) - Age 26 - 20 caps
It's hard to step into national legend Catherine Gryphon's shoes, but Staunton has the attitude for it. A media-friendly model professional who runs one of the A-League's most active social media accounts, all without a PR guy. She's a quietly very capable screening midfielder, good in all aspects of the position.

7 - RM - Brae Crowther (Image Chenoworth Harriers) - Age 25 - 62 caps, 17 goals
Crowther is lightning-quick and cocky to a fault, always trying to make the difference on her own, and needs to be knocked down a peg. Sure, she's brash and arrogant both on and off the pitch, but it's that level of confidence that means she never goes missing on the pitch - and it never comes at the cost of the team.

8 - CM - Meghan Hartsdown (Image King's Park) - Age 27 - 63 caps, 8 goals
A tall, elegant playmaker-in-making, with a strong sense of team spirit and an optimistic nature lending itself to spraying Hollywood passes down the flanks. Fortunately, that instinct's been curtailed in recent seasons - now she makes the right pass more often than not.

11 - LM - Tiferet Ashbrown (Image Kings Park) - Age 27 - 47 caps, 11 goals
A quick-running, quick-thinking winger, whose reputation for flakiness and poor decision-making in the final third has evaporated after taking huge strides in the SPL. Now incisive rather than indecisive.

13 - CM - Corby Wheeler (Image Goldstaff City) - Age 23 - 36 caps, 13 goals
A sharp, ambitious midfielder who is constantly darting in and about the danger zone. Has a great vision and a passing range that doesn't quite match it, and can fade out of games, but as a mercurial game-changer she's without equal in the side.

14 - CM - Claire Ruskin (Image Southern Star) - Age 23 - 23 caps, 6 goals
A sturdy, tough-skinned box-to-box midfielder. Ruskin's not the sort to take a backward step either on or off the pitch, and while she can sometimes get tunnel vision for the goal - which is bad, she can't shoot for beans - she tends to get the basics right. Maybe not the sort of player whose positive contributions are remembered by a neutral.

15 - RM - Cu Roi Garrard (Image Rene Skae) - Age 24 - 29 caps, 5 goals
A pure athlete, inclined to be direct in approach. A forceful winger who excels bearing down on fullbacks, far more sledgehammer than rapier. Surprisingly, despite his serious case of white line fever, an extremely friendly face off the pitch. Just not on the negotiating table, where he has a decided mercenary streak.

16 - LM - Cathal Keynes (Image Snowden River) - Age 23 - 2 caps
Tall, strong and powerful, Keynes probably looks more like a striker, but that loping stride masks a deceptive pace. Has steadily mastered a low, flat cross, and is even getting an eye for goal.

21 - CM - Falcon Case (Image Goodfeather FC) - Age 25 - 38 caps, 7 goals
A classy technical midfielder, but Case can back it up with traditional Nepharim muscle, largely because he is Nepharim and only qualifies through ancestry. Tends to leave his mark on games, and boasts a thumping shot.

23 - DM - Catsidhe Alweather (Image Eastal Lunar) - Age 26 - 54 caps
Alweather is definitely a player who has grown in stature over the past few years. Granted, her distribution is... uncomplicated. But she's an utterly ferocious defensive midfield terrier, something of a mouthy git, and with a penchant for flying into sliding tackles that catch more ball than man. She shuts matches down.

Forwards
9 - ST - Griffin Riordan (Image Klyde) - Age 26 - 58 caps, 27 goals
Riordan is burning with ambition, loves scoring goals and doesn't care who she has to shove to the ground to get it in the net. She became something of a hero during the World Cup, not so much for her ability - she was very clearly out of her depth at the business end of the tournament - but for her relentless determination and her refusal to be stopped. Ever.

10 - ST - Vesuvia Carrick (Image South Laithland) - Age 25 - 14 caps, 6 goals
Nepharim by birth and culture, Brenecian by grandfather, Carrick's a crisp poacher who can find the bottom corner from seemingly any angle when she's on song, with great arcing far-post runs to slip through tiring defences.

17 - ST - Banshee Strider (Image Lotus Park) - Age 23 - 4 caps, 1 goal
A raw-boned, relentless hard-runner who throws herself into every challenge and header and second ball. An emphatic rather than assured finisher, and far from a finished product, she's a surprise bolter into the squad.
