How does your nation treat immigrants?

Immigrants bring drugs and crime. Many are rapists. Other nations do not send their best people. Immigration is out of control, we must take back our country. Other nations are not our friends. They are killing us economically. We plan to build a beautiful wall and they will pay for it.

They just don't become citizens and can't be in government/vote. Citizenship is really only feasible for Dirlanders jus soli or jus sanguinis, and Nordic citizens jus sanguinis. But yeah, we have visiting immigrants from time to time.

All LGBTQ persons have the right to come to our nation as an immigrant (granted that you have not committed any serious felonies and are in good health), akin to Israel’s “Law of Return”. They are also granted citizenship in a moderately short process.

Non-LGBTQ persons are also welcome, however the Jamahiriya will refuse entry to anyone who they deem might be a threat to the LGBTQ population or who might engage in activities intended to harm LGBTQs. This caveat is meant as a safeguard for the existing residents of the Jamahiriya and to keep people out who mean them harm.

Neither of the given options fit, since even with communist immigrants, our borders are pretty open for those fleeing persecution. We ban immigration for communists and high ranking religious officials.

Also your entire nation US-SSR is just a boomer neolib cringefest.

United New England has open borders (similar to what the US had before 1875, when it banned “undesirable” immigrants such as Asian women) that can be closed in times of emergency. Overall, our immigrants commit even fewer crimes than our native-born citizens, probably because they better appreciate being able to live in this nation.

═───╡❖╞────────═ Immigrants in the Freehold ═────────╡❖╞───═

The Freehold of Ephyra is not the prime focus of migration in the world it exists in, which does allow it however to commit more resources effectively to high screening.

One could reason that these strict screening guides would result in just a fraction of applicants passing, but in actuality, most of those that apply are aware that they meet the necessary criteria to even stand a chance at entry.

Ephyra recognises that the environment has resulted in the changing of physiology in humans across landmasses, but also states that the psychology of groups was just as impacted. Because of this, different human populations think differently, and some think undesirably. Therefore Ephyra only extends migration rights to those of its closest kin, the European peoples, and at a stretch, the Caucasoid groups whom are related but not as much.

To be able to qualify for entry, one's parents and grandparents must be European. Within the European branch little distinction is made. Pan-Selian (the socially dominant ethnic group in the Freehold), Nordic, Mediterranean, Germanic, or Slavic. When going through the migration process, those accepted are done so based on the expectation that in time they will become full citizens of the Freehold, and therefore should demonstrate qualities desirable both mentally and physically.

Ideologically leanings might be assessed, but not as heavily. Those with severe psychological disorders, especially degenerative, inheritable, or those impeding cognitive and motor ability, are typically rejected. Physically, fitness is expected for different reasons in men and women. In family migration, the father of the family is ascertained for fitness in the military, as serving in the auxilia is a necessary act to obtain naturalisation. Sons may also be assessed but their own participation isn't necessary.

Women by contrast are examined and measured for fertility, as when they become full citizens they must be able to reproduce. For single women migrating alone this is especially true as their only means of obtaining full citizenship will be through marriage, and whilst this is an option for women in families this is not the only option.

If accepted with the other requirements, such as education, a lack of a criminal background, and employment history, such migrants are given a right of residency which places them essentially within a status known as the Lykosians, named for the Lykosian Rights, which itself is named for a region of land called Lykosia, situated within the Middle Selian core and the land in which the capital resides.

The view therefore of immigration as part of the status quo machine it operates by is positive. Mass influxes of people have only ever occurred when war has triggered displacement, and the Freehold has no actual precedent of response due to the variability of situations. The concept of relaxed or open borders and more lenient entry protocols is however undesirable to the citizenry, and most Archons run on a policy of maintaining border security. The few that don't simply do not have it in their policy at all and leave it as it is.

Those who are eligible to be immigrants and future citizens are judged from then on by their success at being so. Those that become Selianised and then naturalised are embraced by the community that they reside in. Those that fail to are socially derided. The Ephyral therefore make a distinction between the integrated and the 'imported provincial', a term to refer to someone who is essentially as socially inept as the provincials, only they came in from outside.

All in all the view of migrants is positive but this is the result of very high vetting, strong protections, and high cultural xenophobia.

It depends:
- For nations who have agreements with us, their people are welcomed as long as they attempt to integrate.
- For those from other nations, they are viewed a bit suspiciously. They will have a hard time finding close friends, but once they do, they will probably be considered integrated by the community.
- For those who refuse to integrate, they will face ridicule, harassment, and scorn. They will probably leave eventually, since they couldn't take it anymore.
-For those who came to attempt to spread foreign political ideologies, they disappear after about a week of arrival. Our records don't remember them.

Immigration here is easy. Show up, and you get a hot meal, shower, and medical exam by the Border Service. While that's in progress, the government will vet you, and run you against any terrorist/violent offender (intentional murder/rape/kidnap/assault only).

If someone passes the check (99% do), they can apply for citizenship and head into the Island. A new citizen is assigned to an orientation and given a care package, including information about their rights.

If someone fails the check, they are brought before a judge who decides what to do. Deportation is unconstitutional, but if someone has done something bad enough (think mass terrorist attack), they can be tried at an international tribunal and held in our (very humane) rehabilitation centers. If someone is borderline, they enter on probation (a screw-up will carry heavier penalties, and they have more orientation to do).

Again, no one is ever deported. If someone commits a horrible crime in their country and flees here, their home country can try them here, under our laws, as if they committed the infraction on OUR soil.

Immigrants must pass a background check. If they have a history of crime, or commonly perform acts that break our laws, then they are not allowed in. Refugees are also granted asylum under the same rules. This background check also requires an in person test, which entails a reading in Thornidian English. Those who are unable to read the test are obviously unable to pass said test. Religion, race, and sexual orientation are irrelevant. Immigration is occasionally barred from certain nations, such as during times of strife or direct war.

Amrasia is a country built by immigrants;as such, we have an open border security but with a tight security check since 2002 (a year after 9/11). As immigrants land in the territory of Amrasia, they must have gone through security checks (this including background checks). Those who has passed the security checks may live in an immigrant-concentrated residence, while being educated by the government on how to live properly in Amrasia, such as learning how to speak English (if they're not good at english), including the common laws, bureaucracy, etc. Once they had educated, they're given US$1,000 as a "starter money" which can only be used for renting a house. They're also given a guarantee of getting a job within 3 months. Free healthcare and free education is given after the first 3 months. This system resulted in many immigrants went back to their country. In a ratio of 1-10, only 5/10 of the immigrants are accepted.

Immigrants from other Latin American (as well as the European Latinate [Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, and Romania] countries) countries get preferential status when it comes to immigration, since Horizontianos (Horizonians) historically have a close ethnic and cultural relationship with them as a good chunk of settlers brought to the islands were Spanish and Portuguese colonialists who had already settled in the New World with the native population. There are also a notable population of full or partial Arab immigrants and descendants; Most hail from Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, and Lebanon, similar to the New World. Other notable immigrant and descendant groups include Greeks, Armenians, and Turks (it has been noted that some immigrate from Australia rather than their native homelands). These immigrants and their descandants are well treated and have become viewed as 'integral to the nation' in the political sphere.

Now, talking of politics, in terms of other immigrant and descendant groups, politics had played a major role in the immigration policy of the islands. Despite being geographically located in Melanesia, the people of the islands are ethnically and culturally much closer to Polynesians (and to a lesser degree, Micronesians), than Melanesians. This has resulted in intense disputes between the islands and their Melanesian neighbours over their origins; Melanesians argue that the islands were originally Melanesian before being 'replaced' and eventually wiped out when Europeans arrived, and also argue that the islanders still have Melanesian blood and have 'stolen' Melanesian culture. Islanders largely dispute this take history of Melanesians in the country. Nationalists in Fiji and the Solomon Islands have tried to lay claim to the Islands in the past.

As a result, the islands immigration policy does discriminate in order to keep as many Melanesians out as possible; Those that do live in the country (primarily Papuans) face heavy societal backlash (since many came illegally by boat). Black immigrants (a chunk of which are more Mulatto than anything now) of African origin also face various societal problems but far less than the Papuans. Illegals caught trying to enter the country often face the 'Australia treatment' in terms of being turend back, detained, isolated, and deported. There are even reports of armed paramilitary groups using fast boats to sink migrant vessels with automatic and shoulder-fired weapons. Other rare reports show them being marched into the sea.

In short, if you are from Europe or Latin America, it would be relatively easy to immigrate to the island than if you were Melanesian or Black. For Asians, it is a 50/50 thing. Depends on the country relly.

Immigrants must be of the 3 faiths and swear off their citizenship with other countries, before facing a background check.
If we don't like something about them, they are interrogated and questioned on whether they are spies or terrorists, and if we still don't like them, we... dispose of them.

The United Realms of the Snawn are quite strict when it comes to citizenship. A mix of jus soli and jus sanguinis is used, meaning that only either born Snawn, or descendants of born Snawn who were themselves born abroad, can become citizens of the U.R., so generally spoken, you have to actually be a Snawn.

Other than that, immigrants are welcome. Foreigners are allowed to stay as long as they wish (unless they commit a crime, that is), and to work here. They can also be sure to be treated in a friendly manner, given they do so the other way round as well.

Also, most Snawn are willing to communicate in foreign languages (mostly English or German), as they are aware that Snawn is an extremely difficult language.

Immigrants are welcome in Thama. While living here without citizenship requires an annually renewed visa and, where applicable, a work or study permit - getting citizenship is extremely easy and really just needs demonstrable fluency in Ostspeak, basic Alder Angspeak, a job, and a few hundred Blades to pay for the processing fees.

There are currently no major conflicts or disagreements between any of the Asnean nations and therefore no possible reason to arbitrarily block the freedom of our citizens to choose which nations to live in.

Prospective Immigrants with in-demand skills that are rare in our own population may apply for a work visa valid for a period of 18 months (with eligibility for 2 renewals with the demonstration of good behavior and continued contribution to the economy). From there (or by shared family), they can start the Department of Interior Permanent Naturalization Application (Known by its local acronym, ChEDRO, or Chasofa Eb'poi Dang'ngat Ruk'rik Ong'zhibu)

ChEDRO Includes.
4 years in country, out of the past 5
A test on Quamenese language, culture, and civics to the 12th grade level
3 citizen character witnesses, 2 selected from birthright citizens (The Character Witnesses themselves CANNOT be related to the Immigrant and each citizen may, in their life, serve as a witness for 4 or fewer prospective citizens)
The formal adoption of a Quamenese Language Name (First and Last)
The formal and complete renunciation of all other national loyalties and citizenships in times of peace or war upon Naturalization (which is to say, dual citizenship is not accepted).

It is the policy of the Department of Interior that, "While genetic origin itself is of little consequence to immigration, no course of action on immigration may be taken that raises undue risk of the dilution of the defining National Ethos and Culture that grants us the moral right to call ourselves one nation in the civic sense."

In order to immigrate to Gandoor, the following documents are required for all prospective immigrants: proper identification and medical records. For prospective immigrants aged over 13, passports and visas are also required.

After entering Gandoor, immigrants must go to an immigration centre, where they will undergo a background check, which will entail, among other things, checking if they are wanted for any valid crimes in any country and seeing if they have means of living within Gandoor (this includes moving in with an immediate family member who either holds Gandoorese citizenship or a permanent residency status or a prospective employee sponsoring them). As this process can take several days, all immigration centres have free on-site hotels for usage. Once all background checks have been cleared, immigrants will have a photo ID taken, which serves as proof that they are legally allowed to reside within Gandoor for the period of time as stated on the ID. (The IDs expire six months after being issued and can be renewed an unlimited number of times at any point between two weeks before and two weeks after the stated expiration date)

Despite these relatively lax immigration policies (the entire process typically takes no more than ten days), the total immigration rate to Gandoor remains relatively low. In the year 2022, only 63,253 foreigners immigrated to Gandoor, most of whom were from the Philippines and Vietnam.

We have many immigrants - mainly first or second generation - who have settled here predominantly from Atlantyan colonies. Over the past 20 years our population has increased by over 20%, from 32 million in 1995 to 38.7 million in 2015 (our last national census). The reason for this increase is entirely down to immigration as the native population has actually declined by 2 million in the same timeframe due to a mixture of lower birth rates (the native birthrate is just 1.6) and emigration. Many of our native people are moving to the same Atlantyan colonies that our immigrants are leaving, either here on the planet or off-world; the Atlantyan Empire's racial policies mean that they welcome white colonists with open arms - there are many opportunities such as land grants and decent salaries for whites around the world who wish to emigrate. At the same time their repression of the black, brown, red or yellow inhabitants of these various colonies has lead to many of them seeking to leave. Osweya is a perfect place for them to come to, as despite our cultural similarity and general friendliness with Atlantya we share little of the same racial attitudes and are a far more tolerant society in general - especially as our largest racists tend to join the colonial project!. On top of that we are experiencing a shortage of labour thanks to our aging, declining population which these immigrants are helping to alleviate, which allows our social programs to continue working for the time being.
