A Strange World :: Civilization's Dawn (IC/Closed)

Postby Nuxipal » Mon Aug 20, 2018 9:13 am

Civilization's Dawn

The sun rises on a new world- a world not like that you may know. Shattered by a catastrophic impact not long after the extinction of the dinosaurs, Earth is not as it should be. This impact, a star falling to earth, changed not only the shape of the world, but also her content; this star bore strange light and strange crystals, warping and altering the planet where humanity slowly arose.

A thousand generations. Ten thousand generations? Longer, perhaps. Uncounted years had spun onwards since the fall of the star that was the herald of a different world, years unmarked by any man or beast, for when that celestial body plummeted to embrace the bosom of Mother Earth man had not even conceived of his first thought or his lungs filled with his first breath.

And yet, the echoes of that cosmic event still swept the world, their symphony molding the forefathers of mankind. Today he was not even aware of ought which might have been different, a path he might have taken, but it was one different nonetheless. Knowing or ignorant, mankind now looks out at the horizon marked by a thousand luminescent stars and stands to take his own place in the world- greater even than the fell and mystical creatures that roam the lands of Earth, his mind a burning thing so much more potent than even the fiercest of beasts and creeping things.

Anthropologists might call this a dreaming time, a time before men sang the first songs or wrote the first stories- when lives were so simple they left no mark on the tapestry of the ages, stamped no impact into the fabric of the planet to come. But to the men and women who lived such ages, who ate and breathed and hoped for what might be, these ages are only too real. A time of discovery, and innovation, and joy, and death.

The time of Civilization's Dawn.

Sundered by leagues, languages, and alien customs, nearly a dozen small bands of mankind look out to see that dawn. Some are awakened by the singing and cries of strange beasts and birds, others by the crashing of the waves, others still by nothing other than the silence of the wind rising over sunlit mountains and plains. Their traditions are different, their tools, their cultures, but they are united by one thing- a bright future full of uncertainty and danger, but also possibilities that are limitless.

Upon the banks of a wild stream the tribe of Fergdun Clan rises to greet the dawn, waving fields of green grass upon the emerald hillocks of their home rippling under the morning breeze. Here and there feral cotton plants make their homes in the rich soil and muck of the river's edge. Also within the lands they know of are abundant deposits of red rubies poking from the hillsides, fur-bearing beavers that make their homes in the stream, and isolated strands of edible grasses.

Near the roaring breakers of the sea, upon a tempest-tossed bay, the people of the Cadmian Clan make their homes under jagged cliffs. Here and there great fields of wheat course down from the hilltops to near the sandy edges of the sea, a primary food source for the Clan alongside the small fish that teem in the nearby bay. At times strange black-shelled creatures can be seen within the briny depths near the home of the Cadmians, and in the cliffs brilliant white marble makes a fine evidence of material wealth to come.

Far away from the azure sea, the folk of Xcotl make their homes on arid highland steppes broken by crags and mountainous outcroppings. In the harsh but bountiful lands these people work dun brown deposits of cassiterite, hammered until it glitters with a near golden-hue into primitive jewelry hung on strands of grass. In the fields of their home teem fierce dust-colored bulls which no man has tamed, and immense as long as two men which hunt them and, occasionally, the Xcotl. Alongside the occasional hunted bull the people of Xcotl survive on small low-lying Psarmelon bushes which give a bitter but nutritious fruit.

On rolling green plains as flat as the sea Clan Tafari makes its claim, nomadic wanderers now given to harvesting the rolling water-weeds that journey across the plains alongside immense herds of wild horses. Hunted for food as well as sinew and bones, these mighty creatures form a large part of the foundation of the Tafari culture. The clan-fathers also know of lumbering rock-crabs as tall as houses which wander the plains, the only landmarks in an otherwise featureless countryside, and have occasionally stumbled across scrapes of rare and valuable silver.

Near by the rumbling sea the Hvasskyn, the Keen-Folk, make their homes in forest giants who cluster beneath the eaves of windswept dells. Their lives sustained by the bountiful cattle that roam the wooded forests, the Hvasskyn make use of crude tools of beaten copper hewn from under the sea-hills and spice their meals with salt and medicinal herbs of uncommon provenance gathered from the nearby river-flats of a large delta.

Far to the south, beyond boreal forests of deep silent eaves, the Chance Clan wanders the snowy tundra. Hardy by nature, garbed in the skins of the great antlered elk that roam the frozen southlands, the Chance Clan crack rare fire-shards to heat their meals in gouts of warmth, cut from the forbidding landscape with humble copper tools likewise crafted by the keen fingers of the tribe. Though the landscape is barren and swept of all life most of the year, in the brief summer months giant brilliantly white birds with wingspans greater than an entire tribe stood fingertip to fingertip nest in the wastes, raising their young on teeming insects for a time before departing back to the north.

Under the eaves of mighty broken peaks that no man has climbed the Maelon make their home, houses cut into caves of burnished stone. Brilliant blood-red hematite litters the cliffs about their lands, the heart-stone of civilization joined at intervals by flecks of glimmering white crystal. Upon apple trees of the temperate vale the Maelon subside, and the goats that roam fearlessly across even the highest mountains without ever losing their footing.

In the land of the rising sun, where dawn is red and clear, the Nure Clan's abundant fires oftentimes hold the night at bay even until the sun returns, fed by endless supplies of burning stone the color of midnight which they have taken to as a fuel source. Hotter burning than the quick-growing bamboo trees that litter the nearby wetlands and river delta, the folk of the Clan mark their bodies with the coal that is their province, using it to conceal themselves when they hunt rare carnivorous night-tigers or wild yak who it takes a hundred spears to down.

Upon the edges of an endless desert the people of Hyr Gwydh make their homes, sheltered from the sweltering sun by trees of vast height whose fragrant bark is a fine perfume. Upon the rippling heat-waves pools of deepest crude make an appearance, and journeying creatures of frightening speed who seem almost like men, but the color sand. Thankfully the Hyrkin subside upon a succulent diet of figs extracted from the nearby oases.

Along the shores of the chill sea live the sons of Zhou, recently come from a nomadic life to huddle by the mouth of a great river. Cold are the nights and cold the days, the mighty pine forests of the east looming over all as wild elk roam the forest depths. But within the waters of the river can be found at times oysters filled with, if fortune smiles, glinting pearls, and the rare dye-snail whose blood weeps regal purple.

To the east live the folk of the Herrian Tribe, proud hunters and warriors. Upon the migratory herds of great mammoth they prey, rarely but occasionally slaying the immense creatures for food, themselves hunted in turn by the scaled-cats which roam the harsh tundra that is their home. Far to the east can be seen the peaks of mighty mountains, whose bones are in evidence in the lands of the Herrian people in the form of rocky outcroppings rich with native copper and brilliant emerald.

In the bosom of a fertile river valley the people of Ekaru, farmers and foragers in the days of the sun. Within the vale grows the wild fire-wheat, near boulders of gleaming galena. Here and there strange lights of violet and aquamarine can be seen wandering the fields, occasionally resting over the shoals of fish which teem in the shallow pools and eddies of the river.

Last but not least of the sons of men are those folk of Lordaeron, men who live upon a broken archipelago far out to sea. Beneath the shade trees and steaming mountains they live in veritable plenty, untroubled by any predation or want, feasting on abundant shorefish and coconuts that provide both drink and flesh for the eating. In the volcanic peaks rusty hematite is abundant, for those who wish to experiment with it, and mighty armor-whales spout often in the bays of the land, coming to either calve their young or for some purpose not yet divined by men.

The Honori Rose in the scorching lands of their ancestors. Mountains rose to their east and north and dry rocky lands extended to their south and west. In their own corner of the world they had food in the form of maize as well as the Agauve plant. There is a foe to the people here however, the dreaded fire snakes. They are dangerous and the Honori have learned to keep a careful watch for these large serpents. The last creature is the chitinous sand striders which can be seen slowly walking across the arid lands during all hours of the day grazing on the shrubbery and eating wild maize.

Clan Bryre live on a flat plain, mountains rise in the east and their foothills hold vast troves of Hematite. The landscape around them is calm and peaceful, barely grows in large swaths in the lowlands and herds of sheep wander the grasslands of the region. At night, the landscape comes alive as the glow-trees emanate a calming aura which gives the landscape a sense of mystery not lost on the people of the Clan.

Tribes

Lordaeron

The scholar Calia travels far from the village, seeking to learn more of the behavior of the wild sheep that teem in the mountains north of the home of the people of Lordaeron. Many days and nights she spends studying their behavior, but little insight does she glean; the woolen creatures are skittish and easily frightened, little inclined to spend time around man unless there is no other choice, though they are easily hunted. The building of the pallisade around the village progresses, slowly, hewing the trees scattered around the island of Lordaeron being desperately laborious- no children are begotten this year sadly. Aiden's search proves likewise futile; the wide empty lands of the mountain and the island are vacant of all men save those of Lordaeron.

A stranger approaches the village, introducing them self as Vestubian, a hunter who has survived on their own before finding the tribe. He asks to join.

Cadmian Clan

The pottery pulled from the heart of the bonfire is mottled and speckled, clay and earth intermixed- some crumbles under the first touch of man's hands, but other survives in one form or another. A great day for the ambitions of the Cadmian Clan. A child is born to the union of Drusilla and Brutus, but sadly it perishes in its first winter, before it is even old enough to be named

Fergdun Clan

The clan has difficulty with the pottery, but learn as they go creating brittle vessels that get the job done, but require frequent replacing. The gardens are managed well and an ample food supply is easy to obtain. The Child Grows, but no new children grace the Clan this year. Following the river northwards, Whit discovers a calm landscape though it is cooler than the Clan's current home.
He finds the river here to have an abundance of large fish as well as clear crystals seeming to grow in shallow caves near the river. In the landscape around he also discoveres hematite deposits.

Clan Tafari

The clan works hard to further their tribe's existence here. They hunt and create rope for much of the year while tending to the mare the best they can. Stronger ropes are produced by the clan and the work of the clan's priestess and warrior give way to the knowledge of a new hunting weapon, the atlatl. Food supplies are abundant as the new spear thrower increases a hunter's lethality. The clan scout, Sansuri, continues to search for new lands and finds something resembling a good place to settle. Docile goat herds move around a mostly flat landscape covered with wild grains. The most impressive sight are large walking birds slightly taller than she is travelling in herds eating small ground mammals and the wheat. On one occasion she does witness them attacking a goat and successfully slaying it. The last thing she notices is a rock of copper and takes it home with her.

The clan does finally have a child produced by Niun and Imyrith. However, during the early onset of winter, the clan fails to tame the mare again and this time it escapes from Niun who suffers a minor injury.

Zhou Clan

The Zhou clan finds themselves the owners of a large supply of timbers. The handaxes prove very useful for cutting down medium to small sized trees, but with much effort required. They don't prove very useful for hunting however and most of the clan's food does come from the gatherers instead of the hunters. The study of the rocks in the area has given rise to the knowledge of how better to cut flint, supporting the creation of better fishing spears which suppliment the food supply enough to get the clan through the year. The scout, Zhou Ping, scouts up river and comes across a mostly flat land, but still as cold as the lands which they live in now. The river here seems to have larger fish than where they live now as well as what appear to be clear crystals growing in small caves along the shores of the river. On the way back Ping comes across a hematite rock and traces its source to the small hills in the region. Here he does stumble down a hill after a rock gives way. On the ground below he gives thanks for the fortune that he is unharmed and returns to the clan to report his findings.

Upon the scout's return a child is born to Zhou Wang and Zhou Yifan.

Nure Clan

The Nure clan's fortunes seem to be dwindling. With little scouting and the dangers of their landscape a reality their fears are only edged onwards by the sighting of a few Night-Tigers near the camp. It must be the cries of the clan's child playing. Despite the attempts, no new child is born this year to the clan. The clan does manage to acquire enough food for them to survive this year without any damaging incidents.

The Maelon

The Maelon rejoices as Kaina gives birth to a child. She however loses a great deal of blood and becomes ill. The child too is sickly and within a week of birth dies in Kaina's arms. While she mourns the loss of her child Esimon returns to the cave. News of a fertile valley to the east brings a sense of hope to the clan who are able to gather a great deal of food to create ample supplies with which the tribe can use.

Xcotl

Investigating North: While investigating the something beneath the sands to their north they travel and search for it for weeks unable to find anything. Further testing of the spice proves however that it gives a feeling of gladness when it is smelled. However the rumblings can soon be heard again and the ground shakes as what can only be described as a fin rises from the sands moments before a gaping maw launches itself out of the orange sands consuming a great deal of it as it seems to attack the pair. Scrambling to get away, the two of them are wounded when boulders from the creature's attack come falling down. They struggle to return to the camp, but manage to do so to recount their tale. Xo has a very different experience, while he can only find more arid landscapes to the south, he does discover a flowering cacti that gives off a sweet smell as well as enormous herds of stout-horn deer.

There are also colonies of large ground squirrels living near stands of the flowering cacti seemingly adapted to eating the cactus flesh. With the absences food supplies begin to dwindle, but the tribe gathers enough food for the year.

Herrian Tribe

The Herrian Tribe hunts and gathers a great deal of food, creating an ample food supply for the clan. During this no child is born and much of the meat placed in the food pit spoils quickly. However, those closer to where the clan fires are kept seem to have dried out and this gives the clan a source of preserved food for a brief period of time. An ample food supply is maintained

News from the scout is strange indeed. While they travelled through previously scouted lands, they came to the foothills of the mountain in the distance. The landscape was strange, but soon they discovered that the mountain has small patches of blue crystals which glow under the moon light. Kiroz is unsure as to how or why they glow, but it was a great distraction while he was there. He does also relays that he saw mountain sheep moving in small herds led by large horned males from grassy patch to grassy patch. The last and most curious find he made there were a creature he can only describe as giant ant hounds. They seemed to collect various grasses and occasionally a few of the crystals before returning to deep caves which seem guarded by more hostile ant hounds. He did manage to collect what seems to be an egg from one of the less guarded caves and it has a leathery texture to it.

Hvasskyn

The Copper harvesting goes poorly at first, however, a kiln is built well enough that when heated the copper rocks melt and the copper can be separated from the stone. The kiln, while not the greatest construction does manage to survive the year, but the scholar Maria believes that a new Kiln could be made better now that she has constructed one.

Sylvia's eastward exploration reveals a temperate forest as well as more of the river which flows near the tribe's location. The land is dominated by great oak trees above and wet patches of wild rice below. Great terrain for the landscape's most dominant animal, wild boar. Sylvia returns to the tribe safely and reports the findings.

The Honori

The landscape around the Honori is harsh and unforgiving. Mountains and arid lands surround them and the dangerous fire snakes remain a clear and present threat to the prosperity of the Honori. They however have ample food for this year, but will need to find shelter soon.

Characters

Vestubian (Warrior) - The discovery of the Lordaemon Clan has given you hope of a new life, one with a community instead of the solitary life you have been living up until now.

Kaveh (Scout) - The lands in which you live currently are fertile. The slow river empties into the sea here providing you with ample food supplies. Wild berries provide excellent source of food to supplement the water birds which inhabit the various channels of the river delta. Dark red clay makes up much of the soil here, however a golden material can be seen in much of that clay. The most wondrous thing here are the large fungal trees which grow to extraordinary height among much of the brackish water which makes up the lower delta.

Firsthome, Shelter of the Forest Wall
19th of Sunsheight, Year Five

Upon the exposed face of the hill, glittering with the ruddy orange of the native copper, the fire raged as a tempest. Nearby stood its maker, Petyor, his hand held before his face to temper the heat of the blaze which poured off of the large bonfire in waves, beside him the leader Jarn carefully watching the burn, ready to signal Maria when he felt the time was right. It was happenstance, really, that they had discovered this method of breaking the valuable rock from the relatively worthless stone it was interred within; the cracking of the old kiln had given the Scholar the idea, that fire could heat substance, and then when doused in water that substance become brittle and fractured.

For several hours the blaze continued, but gradually it died down towards mere raging embers, and Jarn rose from his noonmeal to open the small sluice. It was only a short earthen channel, stopped up with a large stone and some mud from the Great River, but in that channel a portion of the diverted river waited in trammeled fury. Now, as Jarn and Petyor hauled the heavy rock up and onto the dry bank of the rivulet, that caged water spewed down into the small pit-mine that Petyor had hewn in the past year and the year before that, great clouds of steam spouting up where the cool water of the estuary touched cherry-red rock. A welcome sound filled the air, the crack-pop-snap that Jarn had been hoping for. It sounded as if forest giants were snapping in a cold winter, the crackle of fresh snow under a cloudless sky underfoot, but to the leader of the Keen-Folk it was very distinctive for another reason; the kiln had snapped with a very similar sound when that rainstorm in Harvesthand had finally staved it in.

After only a few moments the two men replaced the sluice stone, Petyor packing the far side with clay set aside for the task to prevent leaks. The smoking pit-mine took days to clear entirely, evaporation removing the water that had been left in the hole by the brief inundation of the Great River, but then it was more or less what could be hoped for. The stern rock face, so resolute in the face of the simple tools the Hvasskyn possessed, was shot through with fractures, and much of it could be hammered away with the simple hand-axes that the tribe had. A great bounty of copper, to be heated over simple fires and wrought with crude tools into whatever the Keen-Folk desired. A blessing from the Father, indeed.

Jarn builds on heat-mining techniques from last year to develop fracture-mining
Petyor mines copper with Jarn
Natalya hunts game and gathers in the forest, tending the rice grove near the village
Maria works with the little smelted copper metal that the tribe possesses, shaping two simple copper sledgehammers around stone cores via slowly heating the metal to be malleable than hammering it with a workstone to approximate the shape she desires
Sylvia travels north with with the tribe's copper spear, harvesting the melons for both food and seeds. The seeds are planted in several different places upon returning to the village, some near the stockade, some near the forest, others scattered near the riverbank, as the tribe is not sure where they will grow best.
The union of Jarn and Maria attempts for another child, their current being weaned and growing strong

Fergdun Clan, Folk of the Cotton-Beaver River and Ruby Hills

The Clan lived through another prosperous year alongside the Cotton-Beaver River, An's hard work in the garden feeding them for most of their meals, with pork and occasionally beaver meat as side-dishes. Jean, the Clan's firstborn, continued his steady growth, and was now walking and beginning to talk. And with his new mind open to ideas, he'd taken to asking questions about anything that caught his fancy. His innocent questions unintentionally slowed down his mother's work in the garden, so more when planting and gathering season hit, he was given to Maer, as the clan agreed she was the best to answer the growing child's questions.

While devoting some of her time to caring for young Jean, Maer also decided that it was time to do something about the new source of food to the north. The large fish that swam in the area were tasty - at least the dried ones Whit brought back to camp - but they were quick. As soon as one placed their foot in the water they swiftly swam away. The ones Whit brought back in to camp were the unlucky or unaware. To exploit this, she took wisdom from Jeth, who often threw his spear to surprise and wound boars and beaver before finishing them off. She also took an idea from the newly made pottery, the idea of a temporary container. She enlisted the aid of Dia, who made most of her inventions, and got to work on her project.

Jeth and Whit were given free range, and both went their separate ways. Jeth went back to his boar hunts, as the small beasts were better quarry and prone to struggle instead of being overwhelmed in one hit.

Whit again traveled north, to gather both the Crystals that shimmered in the caverns, and the strange grey jagged stones that shone in the light.

Maer and Dia work on making a spear-thrower.
Jeth continues his boar hunts.
An maintains the garden.
Whit heads north to gather Clear Crystals and Hematite.
Jean is a toddler and is given to Maer to learn the basic explanations of the world.

Xcotl,
Myth of the North, Spices, and the Great Wolves

The bruises of curiosity still ringed from the expedition up north. They still couldn't get a child to grow their child and they were still struggling at their grasp of growing their population. Yet food was plentiful and the Myths grew.

The south itself faired much better with more wildlife and no giant worms and had strange furry creatures and long, green trees that can store water and looked good to eat.
The Chieftain had said to go try collecting some seeds to plant as he started to think of something to help them with hunting and scouting as the north was forbidden to go because of the large beasts, regardless of what's in the region.

Tenochitanzula looked towards the Great Wolves that roam the arid landscape for some answer. The Wolves hunted the Dust Bulls in packs and mostly ate them, while the tribe was it's only competition but the people had saw how they worked together to survive and perhaps they could be tamed to work for Xcotl.

The scout, still determined to travel for a way to save their people. He decided to go east and pray to the Ancestors for no more Sand Worms.

The other two workers worked on farming the Psarmeleons and hunt the newly discovered mule deer. For their reserves.

Tenchtianzula(Scholar): tries to tame Great Wolves using meat
Xo(worker):Helps Tenchtianzula with taming Great Wolves
Zuma(scout):explores east
Uli(worker): hunts stout-horn deer
Opono(worker): farm and collect Psarmeleons from their small farm
This account must be deleted. The person behind it is a racist, annoying waste of life that must be shunned back to whatever rock he crawled out from.

The Land of Lordaeron

Warmed by Light

Year 5

After months of searching its seemed the people of Lordaeron were alone in this great expanse of land. It would be almost depressing if the light did not teach perseverance and determination. Aiden refused to give up however and every day that ended in failure he set out more resolved than the last to find others. In the truth the tribe was with him in spirit and soul, all of them knew that they needed others to truly thrive in this land.

Worse still somehow both Calia and Natalie failed to become pregnant, not with lack of trying but their spirits would not so easily be dampened and the both were set on becoming mothers soon. Calia theorized that if they could get the sheep in a confined space like a pen and slowly get them more comfortable around there presence would be the way to domestication. Natalie required help to finish their alphabet and she decided to put a pin in her current research for the good of the light.

Varian still spent his days hunting for wild game on a mission to never again let the tribe know hunger, An event that almost coast Calia her life. with these sheep to the north however hunting was almost to easy and Varian soon has spare time in the number of a few hours a day. During this time he explored the peaks around Lordaeron were the Hematite the tribe has studied in the past was located. Here in its raw form it seemed locked into the rock itself, running threw the stone like a river. He knew from watching Mara work that heat from the fire treated stone and wood differently in the making of tools, perhaps that process could be used to similar effect here.

The newcomer Vestubian was welcomed warmly into the tribe. Varian has invited him to help preform his task's and spends the of hours introducing him to the teaching of the Light.

The tribe mourned the loss of their child but the world was harsh, and survival was paramount if the Cadmians where to survive the reckless tides of time that worked against them. The clay vases where wonderful devices in storing excess wheat, and would act as a cushion that allowed the tribe to flourish without fear famine. Brutus thought of ways to improve the wheat crops he knew the seasons were paramount to that so he began observing, and mapping out the stars and naming the constellations to figure out the optimum time to plant and harvest crops.

Meanwhile, Marsillia thought of ways to improve their lifestyles she would propose the idea of grinding grain between two slabs of stone so that the wheat could be made into a fine flour. It was brilliant! With the aid of Drusilla, they got to work building this "Millstone" that would revolutionize the tenements of wheat forever.

Secundus would take the spear that Brutus crafted and head out to the wide-open world. Too long have the Cadmians been isolated in their corner of the world now it was time to explore. The tribe wished him a farewell and cheered as he walked into the horizon ready to go where no Cadmian had gone before.

Drusilla and Marsillia construct a millstone to grind wheat
Aurelia tends to crops
Brutus studies the stars and astronomy to improve farming taking mental notes of constellations and annual meteorite showers as well
Secundus heads out and explores outside Cadmus, wielding a flint spear to defend himself
Drusillia and Brutus try to have a baby

On the march, the Honori people.

The embers of the last night's fire burned softly in the chill of the early morning. The great northward wind swept down from the mountains, whipping up dirt and brush in the plains below these giants. It was early morning, peaceful, liberating, a far cry from the oppressive heat of the day. This is the time Yuni preferred to do her work. The tribe's leader, she was not too old, not too young. She was quick, both mentally and physically, and dedicated to her tasks at hand. With her signature attitudes of work, she busied herself with excavating and harvesting a massive Agave plant nearby. Their nomadic lifestyle had given them quite good lives, and always guaranteed them something to eat over the next hillside, but she has tired of this. The recent months have proved even hotter than those before, and she fears the stream they had trailed for miles now is soon to run dry. And verily, as the rest of her tribe greeted the rosy dawn, she called over her trusted and most honest friend, Shanti, to discuss her ambition.

"Tell me Shanti, how do you feel about the way inwhich we live?'
He smiles, and sits down beside her, and aids the laborious process of stripping the vast leaves of it's needles.
"Truth be told? I have a few complaints, but the biggest one is the great one above us- Silar. For all his protection against the night-beasts, his gaze makes me weary, and unable to do much of anything while he reigns."
"And how did you feel when we wandered through the great gorge ages ago, when the stream was wide and full of life?"
"You know well the answer. These are rough times, to be sure."
"I would like to fix that."
"Hm?" The young man said, and looked up from his task.
"I would like to fix that."
"And how do you plan to do that? Go and wander back through country we've been before?"
"No, I mean to say once we find fruitful land, we should stop our wandering, and live where food, water, and shelter can be counted upon."
"And what happens when the Assurush is all eaten?"
"We will become creators, and coax the Amberush towards our home."
"And how will you do that?"
"That... I do not know. But we must escape the dreaded heat, there is no doubt inside of me. And if we cannot do as I say, then we will continue to hop from Floyo to the next for all eternity, but we can at least try. Can I trust you to help me in this?"
He paused, and looked into her eyes, and felt the fiery passion of her intentions, and verily greeted it with a similar warmth. Placing his hand upon her shoulder, he replied:
"It would be my honor, clansister."
And so, a short while later, Shanti would depart the camp in search of their new home.

Back in their encampment, the other three were still hard at work. Homa, a member of the last generation of those who lived as 'the Honori', was tasked with the great question: how does our nourishment grow? And how can we encourage them to grow in certain areas? And what areas grow the tallest rush. Suki, the youngest and most dexterous of them, attempted to make better use of the fibers of the Assurush, and began working with them, twisting and braiding them, to see if they could not be crafted into something useful to them. They had in the past used these braids for simple cords, but perhaps they could aid them in their toils during the day and night. She was joined by Juli, her brother elder by slim minutes, attempts to aid her in this task.

Perhaps a great leap of risk could lead to better lives for them all. Perhaps, it could lead to utter failure. Either way, they couldn't just see their livelyhoods dry up under their heavenly watcher.

Yuni (Worker / Leader) collects food
Shanti (Scout) looks for a gorge or cave with stable water source.
Homa (Scholar) Attempts to understand how edible plants grow. (Like Maize)
Suki (Worker) Tries to weave baskets out of the coarse Agave fibers.
Juli (Warrior) Helps suki with her basketry

Some Honori Terms:

Silar: A lofty name given to the sun, who they believe to be a divine being of some sort.

Lunda: A gentle name given to the moon, who they believe to be a divine being and the mother of Silar.

Assurush: Literally "Blue food-bearing plant" (Agaave plant)

Amberush: Literally "Yellow food-bearing plant" (Maize)

Rush: Any food-bearing plant

Floyo: A small moving body of water, such as a stream, creek, etc.

---

The Honori are given suffixes dependent upon their generation of sorts. So while Homa, the female elder, may have the suffix -a, the current generation have the suffix -i, and the children of this generation have the suffix -o. And as the children grow up, they will eventually take the -i suffix, and as this generation gets older, they take the suffix -a.

Clan Bryre

Morning rose, as the young tribe makes their steps in front of them. The sun gleamed into their eyes, and a vast plain stood before them. home, they thought upon witnessing such a beautiful site. This would be the beginning of what they would know in the following years as Clan Bryre.

Vallen looked upon this expanse. Undoubtedly foreign to the lands from wince he came, some somewhat distant region burdened with competing tribes for the local animals. This a land without other tribes to compete will be the catalyst that would propel their family to the glory that they ambitiously dream for. However for now they will live off the land, like they have done so before in other lands.

Vallen ordered the tribe into action, He ordered Reshia and Sova into action, Reshia was to search the land for food, and see if she could find any potential plants to take note of. Sova was ordered to construct huts for their eventual stay, nothing sophisticated, save for a place to rest. He ordered Feren, to start studying the plants, and find a purpose for them to use for the Bryre families needs. And he ordered Eshin to go with him to learn the area. The three were strong enough on their own, they are Bryre-born and these simplistic plains were no match for Bryre-born.

Or year one for me?

Vallen Bryre (Warrior/Leader) exploring with Eshin Bryre with a flint spear.
Reshia Bryre (Worker) searching the area for food, and find plants of interest to take to Feren.
Sova Bryre (Worker) building huts, if has spare time, she shall go hunting for food, and hopefully find interesting plants to take to Feren.
Eshin Bryre (Scout) exploring with Vallen Bryre with a bow.
Feren Bryre (Scholar) studying wildlife, namely plants in hopes of finding out how they grow.

Clan Tafari

It had been decided. With the death of the Mare, the gods clearly had no further plans for the clan here. While they did welcome a new child, the young girl would be subjected to a move early in her life. Sansuri would be called on one more time to scout, this time further east from where she scouted previously. She was armed with an atlatl and given a few throwing spears to help her on her journey. Niun himself watched her leave as Imyrith held their daughter keeping her warm in a horsehide blanket.

Niun went about his hunt as usual. Keeping the horse herds healthy, perhaps one day the clan would return here and reclaim their old homes. This would be the last year the clan stayed here. Imyrith was busy with the baby, but not too busy to keep up some form of work. She kept an eye on the young Mazeura as well, teaching him about the gods and the clan so that perhaps he one day would become a priest. She did however decide that more study must be done. She decided that helping the workers with new tools and building materials would be the most use since they were preparing to move.

Artos was tending to the camp the best he could. Niun came to him one day and asked that he and Irida build a few tents which could be easily packed up and moved for the clan when they moved. The couple went to work immediately. They tested out many of Imyrith's new ideas and helped her come to a conclusion using stones for various purposes. Several were made into crude axes while others into hammers. Following the creation of the tents, Artos and Irida crafted a few of these hand axes and hammerstones.

As summer dawns and the clan is ready with long days to aid them, they depart for the lands south east of where they live now, intending to meet Sansuri on her return trip to determine if they should continue their migration or stop where they are. Niun continues to hunt when they stop to rest, while Artos and Irida collect edible plants they are familiar with.

Niun (Warrior) - Hunting and preparing the clan for departure
Imyrith (Scholar) - Tending to children, worshiping the gods, studying tool making stonework
Sansuri (Scout) - Scouting East of Southeast
Artos (Worker) - Building tools, collecting food
Irida (Worker - Building tools, collecting food, tending to children
Mazeura (Child) - Learning
Female Child (Child) - Being an infant

Whole Clan moves south east halfway through year

Kaveh, the last of the Aslani

It has been some weeks since Kaveh has venture out into the world since the death of his clanmens. He is not sure to what killed them or what it to destroyed his home. Only by the tracks on the ground, their wounds and half-eaten bodies. Kaveh figured it was some kind of beast but, no beast he knew could have done this. Or what could have even caused such a beast to attack the clan. He was terrified that whatever did this may come back to kill him if he stayed and with nothing left. Kaveh departed far from his home with only his clothes and a simple wooden spear.

Finding the fertile river delta was boon to Kaveh. This land was more plentifully in food and water then his former home was. He curiously ventured further into the delta, noting the new types of berries, wildlife and the odd looking but, large trees that grow here. Along with the new type of soil that makes up the delta. Interested in what this golden material that he found in some of the clay was and continued onward. He walked to the coastline of the city and was amazed that such a large amount water existed. Kaveh tried to drink the water only to spit it out in disgust.

Kaveh wiped his month and turned back to the rest of the river delta. This place seems like a good place to stay for a time but, perhaps he will live here. It is better then his former home and any of the places he found along the way. Perhaps.... he could rebuilt his clan here and flourish here. That was his dream since leaving his home and maybe finding out what killed his clan. Killing that beast would ease his fears and average his clan but, that would done later. He has not found a single soul for weeks and as the beating suns goes down. He needs find a place for live in and he does not see a clear refuge in the delta. Maybe he could find one nearby and set up a home there he thought. So he set off to find such a place near the delta and hoped he did not have to travel far from the delta to find on.

Search for any kind of natural shelter near the delta.

Vestubian of Lordaeron
Year 5, Age 9

Early in the year:

Something large was being tossed and turned in the waves along the shores of the Lordaeron Tribe, until it finally settled in the sands. Mara was taking a break from building the wooden palisade, and took no heed at first sight, thinking the mass was only seaweed that had washed up. It came as a shock when she saw the supposid “sea weed” start to move and groan, she ran back to the tribe to ask Calia and Natalia for help. What they dragged in was a boy, nearly a man, who seemed to have been out drifting in the seas for days, he was shivering and very ill. They took him in, but feared he was too far gone. Later that evening, the tribe gathered and discussed what should be done with the boy, Calia and Aiden saw the newcomer as a drain on resources, Mara on the other hand, thought it was their given duty to protect this child, the others still stayed quiet. As the night grew darker, many others started to side with Calia and Aiden, they boy was surly dead, they only need to make him comfortable in his final hours. And as they turned to return to the Mud-Daub Hut, they saw the boy leaning against the doorway, grey and sickly, but with a determination in his eyes.

A month later:

Mara lifted the log upright into a small hole, as she did, a small pair of hands appeared to help tie the log to the adjacent one, securing it in place. While Calia and Natalie tried to have children, it seemed as if the sea had provided one for Mara. They named him Vestubian, and placed him under Mara’s care, both because she had found him and because she argued to keep him on night the night he first washed up. He did not come speaking the language of the tribe, but he provided a helpful set of hands to help Mara, and was grateful for everything the tribe provided. He soon became Mara’s dearest little boy.

Mid year:

Varian was slowly creeping through the undergrowth, he reached a small bluff that overlooked a small herd of sheep that were passively grazing on the grass. He lifted his spear in the air, and was about to throw when he heard some rustling in the undergrowth. He snapped around, and saw Vestubian, he had followed Varian all this way from the Tribe. “Child what are you doing here!” he hissed, but was met with a blank look. Clearly the child needed more time to learn their language. Varian looked back at the herd, the sheep were not aware of their presence. He then took the time to reach back once more, and strike down one of the sheep as the rest of the herd ran off. Varian watched as Vestubian ran to collect their catch, Vestubian was shouting “Meat! Meat!” as he dragged it back. “Yes, meat. The tribe will be well fed with this one.” Varian motioned Vestubian to follow, “Come now, while you are following me, maybe you can do some work.”

Varian and Vestubian walked back to a worried Mara, and a tired tribe. While Varian would of made it back sooner by himself, Vestubian was slow as he dragged his sheep behind him. Mara sighed with relief as she saw her adopted son back and safe, she caught him in a hug with open arms. “I was so worried, you shouldn’t run off like that!” Mara cried, “Did he follow you Varian? I see you brought two sheep today.” Varian nodded, lifted the sheep that Vestubian dragged along, “He did follow me, and I was surprised he did so without me noticing. Your child looks like he wants to be a hunter rather than a worker.” Mara started shaking his head, “I can’t do that, he is too young and it's too dangerous!” Varian chuckled, “He chose to become one himself, i will teach him and he will be safe, besides I can catch more if he helps carry some.”

Rest of the year:

Vestubian would spend the rest of the year assisting Varian and learning the tools of the trade and how to properly stalk animals. While back at the tribe, Vestubian would learn the language of Lordaeron as well as the teachings of the Light.

The Maelon, They Who Came Forth from the Mountains

With sadness came happiness, and such was life for the Maelon over the past year. Kaina finally gave birth to that long-awaited child of hers, the fruit of her divinely-sanctioned - if temporary - union with Malar. The tribe immediately set upon celebrating the child's arrival, gathering around the cave fire, singing songs and telling stories, and even throwing a few apples and goatskin into the fire as an offering to the Divine Presence.

Yet the happiness was short-lived, as was the child; the birth had been a difficult one, with both mother and child weakened and losing quite the amount of blood. The child, especially, was a cause of concern. The tribe was awakened from their joy by the child's rapidly deteriorating condition, and all attempts to save the child were unsuccessful; the child passed away in Kaina's arms. The child was buried in a nearby hill, with little Maeka - helped by her mother - pouring soil over her lost sibling's resting place. Maelon - claiming to be inspired by the Divine Presence - proclaimed a "day of mourning and remembrance", in which they did nothing but sit, eat, drink, and chant prayers to the Divine Presence in their sorrow.

The child's death was a particularly severe blow to Malar. The long wait for a child had convinced him that his seed was cursed, and now that he was finally a father, the child was taken away from him so soon after the birth. Maelon attempted to convince him to come to Kaina once again, but he understood that this would only become an emotionally painful experience for Malar. Maelon was her rightful partner anyway, so for now he decided it was time to once again perform his marital duties.

Not long after, the scout Esimon returned to the cave, and the news that he delivered was a sweet counterpart to the sorrow. Fertile lands had been discovered to the east, where the tribe could live and prosper and multiply. This, Esimon was convinced, was the promised land, and Maelon agreed. One day they would journey there and settle down and make good use of the land, but that day had not come yet, and for now they would have to be content with the cave.

Maelon (Warrior/Leader) guards the cave and leads the tribe
Malar (Warrior) helps Maelon guard the cave
Esimon (Scout) helps Maelon guard the cave
Kalamon (Worker) collects apples and grass and occasionally hunts goat, wolf, and bear meat
Kaina (Worker) assists Kalamon in collecting the food and hunting the beasts, also feeds her child

The Herrian Tribe

This year, the Herrians assessed what they did last year and the results. They hunted large amounts of animals, which gave them a lot of food, but unfortunately, the idea proposed by Katya didn't work, as the food spoiled. They did, however, discover that it seemed that food that were closer to the fire was preserved. Talking about Katya, unfortunately for her, Kozlov, and the tribe as whole, no child was born last year. As for what Kiroz discovered, he learned more about the land that he previously scouted, as well as discover new things, such as the mountain sheeps. After what happened last year were all explained, Kizirh decided to gave orders again and preparing to perform a ritual to appease the Being.

Seeing that the tribe hunted a lot of animal lats year, and that some went to waste in the food pit, and also due to the Herrian's belief that the Being wanted the tribe to respect the land around them, Kizirh got a dream last day that he should sacrifice about 1/5 of the Herrian's food supply. However, he also got a vision that the worker should light the flames, and the scholar should drop a brownish, shiny stone into the flames. He soon heard the Being spoke to him in the vision, saying, "Wait for the scholar to come back home after she finishes taking a brown and shiny stone, before you order your worker to light up the flames of sacrifice with the animals." The vision soon ended and Kizirh woke up.

Now, Kizirh decided to gave his orders to the whole tribe. He himself would defend the tribe and perform a ritual as the Being specified once Katya returned home with the copper. Zikov would mainly defend the tribe, while Kiroz would scout the land to the west of the tundra. Kozlov would help Katya again with her research, while Katya would go and study the copper and their properties. Katya and Kozlov also still wanted to have a child, and thus, this year, they would retry after failing last year.

Kizirh (Leader/Warrior): Defend the tribe from any animals and perform a ritual, by sacrificing 1/5 of the food supply to the Being
Zikov (Warrior): Defend the tribe
Kiroz (Scout): Scout the land west of the tundra
Katya (Scholar): Study the properties of the copper through various means, and have a child with Kozlov
Kozlov (Worker): Aid Katya in her research and have a child with her

The Zhou Clan

The first son of the Zhou Clan had been born to its leader - Zhou He, child of the mighty Zhou Wang and the wise Zhou Yifan, was born healthy and normal. Just a first step on their path to prosperity.

Zhou Wang put the newly developed fishing spears to use, making trips to the newly discovered tundra up-river for salmon, the fish that Zhou Ping had discovered in that area.

Zhou Ping, meanwhile, continued exploring, searching for unknown lands beyond the two known regions.

Zhou Yifan, now with a young child to take care of, abandons her research for the time being in favor of caring for Zhou He.

Zhou Xing makes use of the clan's newly acquired timber to construct small huts, slowly excavating the soil and using the timber as walls, before laying wider and flatter wood atop them as a roof.

Zhou Nanfeng, anticipating increased harvests from both hunting and gathering, experiments with small sticks and thick grasses in the area to produce woven baskets of some kind.

Zhou Ping, Scout: Exploring
Zhou Yifan: Caring for Zhou He

Corrupt Dictatorship

Year 6

Hvasskyn

The new mining processes have proven effective creating a large supply of copper ore ready for smelting and shaping into tools for the tribe. The tribe can feel good about how effective they worked together to accomplish the task. This large supply of copper permitted Maria to craft a pair of simple copper coated sledgehammers. The food supply remains ample. Meanwhile, the melon seeds seem to have difficulty growing, but a few vines do sprout in the forest where Sylvia planted them.
During the year a child is born to Jarn and Maria.

Fergdun Clan

The clan works diligently towards preserving its future. New spearthrowers created by Maer and Dia seem to be very effective. This permits a greater success in hunting and thus providing more food for the clan. The garden too prospers under An's guiding hand. Whit heads north and collects what he can from the lands downriver and provides the clan with a small supply of the crystal and the hematite. Upon his return he is greeted by Dia who says that they have been blessed with a child.

Xcotl

Tenchtianzula and Xo start observing the wolves, noting their diet and how best to try and tame them. They acquire some meats to feed them and then get ready to make their attempts. At first they are unsuccessful, however, eventually they are able to get a couple of the wolves to eat the meat from them. Soon however, the Xcotl clan's luck has run its course. During one day of trying to tame the wolves, more wolves show up than normal. They simply did not bring enough food and soon the two try and make their escape using the last of the meat to distract the wolves. However, Xo trips on a rocky patch and Tenctianzula has to come try and save him. Minimally armed, so they could have more food for the wolves, the two of them fend off a couple wolves before they both are set upon and dragged down. Tenchtianzula manages to get back to his feet and fight off a couple more wolves before the pack leaves. He tries to find Xo, but he only finds several sets of wolf prints and the telltale signs that something was dragged away, not struggling.

He returns to the others and reports on what happens. While the clan is saddened by the news, there is also news from the clan scout. However, it isn't as good as they could hope. The land to the east is also Arid, however a good stable crop is brought with him as proof of its hardiness. The Maize, while small, is incredibly good. He also said there are ant-like hounds in the hills leading towards the mountains and silvery metals found across many of the boulders and rocks in those hills.

Lordaeron

While work on the alphabet continues, the two scholars are working diligently. Some distractions in their work prevent them from completing what they set out to do, but Natalie welcomes a new child into the clan. Meanwhile a palisade and a basic corral is built to try and contain the sheep. Currently, it lacks any actual sheep. Food supplies remain constant during the year and no one goes hungry. Aiden scouts the rest of the island that the clan lives on while the new youngster that has found a home with the clan learns all that he can about the clan's beliefs. In the distance, from one of the northern mountains by the coast, Aiden spots a cold and inhospitable landscape across the waters. While he could swim to it if he put his mind to it, the shoreline rises high and the rocky landscape makes such a trip dangerous.

Cadmian Clan

A rudimentary millstone is created, however, it takes a great deal of time and effort to properly ground up the wheat. They do however make it easier to store the wheat once it has been ground. This makes the clan feel more secure in their food supply. With this now secure source of food, more work is put into other areas. The study of the skies and stars pays off to some extent. More work will need to be done to understand the cosmic forces at work, but Brutus does notice how some of the stars remain constant while others move during each night and over the course of weeks.

Secundus leaves the safety of the clan and starts to scout the lands around them. Starting along the coast to the south, she sees large sea turtles along the shoreline as well as lizards which seem to live on both land and the sea, perfering rocky patches where the tide pools form. Near these pools, large patches of salt are formed as the pools dry up over time in the same areas over and over again. As he is leaving, Secundus sees large rock-crabs moving from the east towards the sea. Looking again, some of the rocky patches he saw before were in fact these large crabs simply sitting still or having died before. He is able to return and describe all of this to the clan, much to their surprise.

The Honori

Shanti scours the land for a place for the Honori to call home. Eventually finding a rocky hilltop with a large stream flowing alongside it. While the stream heads south, the land near the stream is fertile enough that some Assurush and Amberrush grow near its banks.

Homa, through years of watching where the amberrush grows and just now deciding to try and learn how this comes to being and why some years they do not grow back has come to the conclusion of how to make the amberrush grow each year. The new home for the Honori that Shanti has found seems like the perfect place to put this into practice should she wish it. The baskets woven by the other tribe members make carrying their supply of amberrush with them to the new site easy.

Clan Bryre

The clan starts to settle into this seeming paradise. Ample food surrounds them making its gathering very easy. Vallen and Eshin scout the lands to the north east. They find the valley flattens out to a wide, slow flowing river which seems to wind its way from roughly north to south. Large fruit bearing trees dot the landscape along with other less impressive trees. In the other trees however, lizards seem to leap into the air and fly from one tree to another. They are no more than knee high while on the ground, but their flight along with the wings which they seem to use make them a memorable part of this landscape. The last and most surprising thing the two of them find here are enormous salamanders which live in the river. Some of them are larger than either Vallen or Eshin. They return to the clan to report their findings.

Upon returning home, Vallen is told that Reshia has given birth to a child.

Clan Tafari

The clan uproots and travels to the south east. Sansuri scouts out ahead of them. She finds a land in which crystals grow in small patches of rock. There are fields of Wickwheat which the clan could easily use to sustain themselves. There are wooly creatures which shy away from her, but are easy to take down with her atlatl and make excellent food. Lastly she finds a gray rock which has a smooth, but hard, surface.

Upon returning to where the clan was to meet with her she only finds grief. Two freshly dug graves. One the size of an infant child, another larger with a greater deal of decoration put into it. Searching the area further during the end of the year she finds the remains of another child, this time unburied and older as if the others were chased off by something. She looks over the bones and realizes they had been attacked by the large birds which inhabit this area of the plain. Following a thorough search she finds additional broken bones as well as two sets of tracks heading south to where she found the graves. There is likely one other survivor, but she was unsure who it was or if they would survive alone.

The Maelon

Maelon's proclaimation of a day of rememberance is taken with the strength that only his clan could uphold. Another day was nearly required when Kalamon had a close call while hunting. A bear snuck up and almost was able to get a swipe on him. However, depsite this the food supply remains steady and the tribe is not in danger of starvation this year. Maelon and Kaina welcome a new child during the year and this time both mother and child are healthy.

The Herrian Tribe

Kizirh feels a strong sense of worth during the sacrifice and is able to guard to the best of his abilities during the coming year. Going so far as to slay a mammoth which wandered too close to the camp one evening after it was weakened by Zikov. Katya works the copper as best she can, finding it mallable and easily heated. Once heated she notes that the metallic substance melts out of it.

To the west the lands are cold, white furred foxes roam the landscape hunting down small rodents, In several of the rodent burrows left empty, Kiroz finds silver rocks. While looking for more of these rocks, Kiroz finds a large rooted plant. Its silvery sheen seems to disguise it as the silvery rocks and have protected them from the local wildlife. They taste excellent and are quite filling.

Zhou Clan

The clan finds itself with an abundance of food from the new food, though much of it doesn't make it all the way home due to distance, but it is sustaining while they were away. The fishing spears still make it much easier to fish their own portion of the river. The scout, Ping, goes south this time and finds a warmer plain than their own region. The land is home to large fruit bearing trees, the red fruit proves to be quite tasty and juicy. However, the land seems to also be inhabited by haunted pine forests. Ping hears howls followed by bolts of lightning before seeing a pair of wolves, without fur rushing towards their prey. They take it down and several lightning bolt sounds later and several more wolves are seen tearing into their target. The last area Ping gets to before returning home is the coastline. A peaceful sea is visible out to the west of the landscape.

Upon his return he sees new huts created for the clan and what look like a series of well constructed baskets which were made by Nanfeng.

Vestubian of Lordaeron

Vestubian learns all he can from the Lordaeron, quickly adapting to their culture and helping as much as he can around the settlement. He shows interest in hunting and protecting his new people. The religion of the Lordaeron is also taught to the young hunter-in-training.

Kevah Aslani

Kevah finds shelter in the form of an abandoned hut, partially fallen apart. It seems to have lacked inhabitants for several years. Food is easy to find and clean drinking water practically flows to his front door. While it took until late summer to find the shelter, Kevah now has a safe and reasonably sturdy shelter in the area.

Kutor

The arid landscape around you shows signs of habitation. Tracks coming and going from a centralized location within the region. You find a nice oasis to rest at which has enough food for you.

The Zhou Clan

The sun rose again over the Great Zhou as the sons of the Great Dao once again moved forward toward prosperity.
Zhou Wang, ruler of men, journeyed East once again with spears and baskets to hunt salmon. Now, with Zhou Nanfeng's handiwork, he might bring more of his harvest back to the clan. Zhou Xing, kingdom builder, joined him - also carrying baskets, Zhou Xing came in search of the hematite stones that Zhou Ping had described. Perhaps they would be of use to the clan.
Zhou Ping himself explored further, uncovering regions and lands yet undiscovered.
Zhou Yifan continued to care for her child, unwilling to take any risks in this harsh and unstable world. Meanwhile, Zhou Nanfeng began to experiment with elkhides, attempting to create effective clothing for both warmth and modesty.

Zhou Wang, Warrior - Hunting Fish in Tundra, Equipment: Flint Fishing Spears, Primitive Baskets
Zhou Xing, Worker - Gathering Hematite in Tundra, Equipment: Primitive Baskets
Zhou Ping, Scout - Exploring

The Herrian Tribe

This year, the Herrians rejoiced at a major discovery Katya made. She discovered that the brownish, shiny stone could be melted and shaped by the fire. Already, ideas started to form in the minds of the scholar, as well as the warriors, Zikov and Kizirh, about making a weapon out of the metal. However, they still thought that the lack of child was unfortunate. They were also interested by Kiroz's discovery, and intrigued by the discoveries of the plant and silver rocks.

Meanwhile, Kizirh was sleeping one day, and he got a vision in his dream again, from the Being. The Being told him that he should order the worker to construct houses, the warriors, including him, to hunt for hide as material, the scout to scout the land north, and the scholar to join the scout in order to research what the scout found, like the use for what the scout found. He soon woke up in dawn. After waking up, he examined the sapphire Kiroz found from his earlier scouting, and then approached the rest of his tribe people and woke them up for the day. They then gathered around the place where they usually started their fire, sitting there to hear what Kizirh had to say.

Kizirh soon gave the rest if the tribe his orders. First, Kozlov said that he would gladly build shelters from them, seeing they had minimal shelter. Zikov then said that he would hunt and defend with Kizirh to guard the tribe and gave materials for Kozlov to build. Then, Kiroz and Katya said that they would do his order of scouting and researching the land north. After they were all done, they did it.

Kizirh and Zikov soon started to hunt some animals for the rest of the year, collecting food, and hide for Kozlov to build upon. Kozlov then made the hides into shelters day by day for months. As for Kiroz and Katya, they took enough preserved food supply to brought on their scouting, walking north into the uncharted lands. The rest of the tribe soon waited for a year on what their result would be.

Kizirh (Leader/Warrior): Hunt enough animals to provide hide for Kozlov, as well as food. Also, defend the tribe again
Zikov (Warrior): Same as Kizirh
Kozlov (Worker): Build shelters using hides from the warriors
Kiroz (Scout): Scout the land north of the tundra
Katya (Scholar): Follow Kiroz and research what Kiroz found

The Land of Lordaeron

By the Light

Tho the written word came along slowly the importance of this was second to none. The sheer amount of things the written word could help the tribe accomplish, it got the blood flowing simply by thinking about it.
Meanwhile, the long term food surplus that the domestication of the local sheep would be a substantial boon. Being able to relay on a food source that stable could literally be a life saver.

The newcomer Vestubian has really earned his place in the tribe over the past year and now no one can deny he is one of us. Every day now he gets better with his hunting skills. Varian expects that he will be his equal in only a few short years, and is happy to have the help. The added protection of the tribe by having another warrior around is no small bonus either. Mara his mother in all but biological fact seems to be prouder of him every time he returns with a catch.

Varian and Natalie, along with Aiden and Calia did not find success in having a child but did not lose heart. Sometimes things just happen and getting depressed about it would only hurt their spirits. There was some relief to be honest, as having Vestubian around did give everyone an small sight into the raising of children. A bit of jealousy could also be at play.

Varian-Warrior* and Vestubian - Hunting for food, Gathering a few sheep for the coral.
Calia-Scholar - TG'd , Trying to have a child with Aiden
Natalie-Scholar- TG'd , Trying to have a kid with Varian
Mara -Worker- Building up better housing conditions, improving the tribes attire.
Aiden-Scout - Looking for other tribes and/or people to unite with.

Clan Bryre

Vallen and the other Bryre sat in a circle in Vallens hut. "It was a great valley, with large scaled beasts, both flying and landed. A river flowed down from the center with abundant trees bearing bright red fruit," Eshin said. Vallen makes a slight nod in agreement. The glint of curiosity, rose from the others eyes.

Ferren was the first to speak, "Perhaps we could learn more of these beasts? They may be used for various things to suit our needs. If we we-"

Vallen interrupts, "No, it's to dangerous without the rest of the land fully explore. Besides it is best that we see if any other tribes are in the area, we wouldn't want our tribe raided by other rival tribes."

"Last year, we did fine on our own Vallen, there are no enemies in sight on these plains, the only unknown I see are the scale beasts you mentioned. Best see if they are our enemies before anything else is to happen."

"Perhaps you are right, so here's this years plan. Ferren, you and I are heading back to the valley, see what these strange creatures are, and what we can use them for. Eshin, you are to head downriver, and see where the river had led to, perhaps we will find something of interest. Sova and Reshia, you are to continue constructing and gathering food, with the additional our new tribeswoman," Says Vallen glancing at the sleeping newborn in Reshia's arm, "if there is any trouble run, leave the huts if you must, or hide. You are on your own, and I won't be able to hear your cries of help."

"Vallen, please we can take care of ourselves. Don't worry about us please," says Sova annoyed.

"That you can, I'm just a little wary that's all, without Ferren you two would be all alone, and it concerns me, a bad feeling you call it," Vallen admits.

Vallen and the others say their goodbyes to Sova and Reshia, before taking off to distant lands to learn about this strange, but rich plains they live in. As the sun sets, the glow tree begin to eminate their small lights, brightening the way for the travelers. Vallen remarks, it must be nature spirits guiding their way, giving them favor.

Vallen (Leader/Warrior) departs with Ferren to study the strange lizards of the valley, guarding him from the potential threat of the lizards if necessary.
Eshin (scout) explores east, seeking the river from the valley that flowed down south.
Sova, (worker) collects food for the tribe, and she feeds the newborn in her spare time.
Reshia, (worker) takes care of her newborn, named "First" for now until her Name Day arrives. She builds huts in the process.
Ferren (Scholar) heads off to seeking to study the Salamanders, and the flying lizards if given enough time, Vallen tails him for his protection, if lizards end up being more aggressive, then previously thought.

The Maelon, They Who Came Forth from the Mountains

The Divine Presence smiled upon His tribe. That was the sentiment prevalent among Maelon and his tribe as Kaina once again gave birth to a child, this time a boy. This time, both mother and child emerged from the arduous process fit and healthy. Between the birth and news of fertile lands to the east, it appeared that, for now, the storm had passed. That the boy survived was already cause for celebration; the tribe had increased in number and little Maeka now had someone to play with. Most importantly, however, he was the fruit of Maelon and Kaena's union; he would be heir to the tribe. When Maelon's time came, whenever that would be, it would fall to him to lead his people.

They gathered around the cave fire for a day and a night, chanting their prayers and thanks to the Divine Presence, and offering Him some apples and wolf meat. At the end of the ritual, Maelon carried his son and held him high above the fire. "Maesimon his name shall be," he proclaimed, "and may he bring joy and glory to our people."

And everyone rejoiced, for the worst was behind them, and once again they knew joy and gloried in the fortunes of their tribe.

Maelon (Warrior/Leader, M) guards the cave and leads the tribe
Malar (Warrior, M) helps Maelon guard the cave
Esimon (Scout, M) helps Maelon guard the cave
Kalamon (Worker, M) collects apples and grass and occasionally hunts goat, wolf, and bear meat
Kaina (Worker, F) assists Kalamon in collecting the food and hunting the beasts, also feeds her children
Maeka (Child, F) spends her time playing
Maesimon (Infant, M) just being an infant

The Honori people,
A continued march.

With every passing month the sun would only bear down harder upon the Honori people, it would only keep them stuffed under that heavy blanket of the air. And so the Honori became people of the night, for the frigidity of cold sand was less suffering than the than the dry winds of daytime.

The embers of the last night's fire burned atop The rocky hill they now called home. By the early morning light, the horizon just barely began to be seen, awakened from the peace of night. The whole tribe were already well at work by the first light, attempting to take advantage of this sliver of comfort until the next evening. The teachings of Homa advised them to clear the land near the riverbanks of all other growth besides the small Rush that dotted it, and well water it, for the time of cold air and long nights parched the land, and they would have to wait until the time of hot air and short nights for the rains to end the thirst. But too, were other pressing concerns made as to their immediate needs. As has been said before, the shade was invaluable to the people of the rocky hill, as the sun beat down hard onto their brows, so raised up towards the sky, even in the shade of the lonely trees of their home. Shelter was needed to keep them from baking, and an effective one. And so, while just under half the clan persued what would one day be known as agriculture, the other two were hard at work, forging for mateials, constructing, and weatherproofing their home to the best of their abilities. They needed to be cool, shady, and open to catching the breeze during the day, but also able to encapsulate warmth during the frigid night. They needed to be able to keep the rain off during the monsoons of summer, but also keep them safe in the night of winter.

Homa, the most wise and eldest of the clan, worked alone. She sat by the riverbed and atop the rocks, under the trees and in the sun, attempting to help her family in any way she could. Verily, as opposed to the previous year, she attempted to figure out the best materials for constructing a home on the arid lands, paying particular attention to the coolness of the mud upon th riverbanks. Could this be used to weatherproof their shelter? ((Basic Adobe construction perhaps))

Yuni and Shanti attempted the cultivation of Rush close by the river banks. Not next to, for fear the monsoons may whipe them all away, but close enough to still drink from the waters. It was hoped that together, they may collect enough to feed the tribe.

Suki and Juli, on the other hand, worked atop their rocky hill called home. With stick, rock, brush, and mud, they attempted to create the best shelter they could with their primitive knowlage of the area.

Fergdun Clan, Folk of the Cotton-Beaver River and Ruby Hills

The Clan was blessed with another child, a girl named Whia. After her safe birth and her mother's recovery from the trials of birth, a celebration was held. Around her beaver-skin cradle were arranged the clear crystal and jagged grey rock from the north, to honor the Great Holy Spirit both for the new blessings of the North and the blessings of the past. Also at the side of her cradle were offerings of pemmican, salmon, and boar, all meant to be sacrificed to the lesser spirits that enacted the Great Holy Spirit's will. She cried out little during the celebration, and was mostly entertained by Jean, letting the adults feast in (relative) peace.

For this, she was a dubbed a "still soul" - one who was serene and calm in times of stress and crisis, almost to the point of passivity. Her behavior as the year wore on would serve to prove this to the clan, as she only cried out when hungry, or had soiled her clothing too much. This contrasted sharply with Jean, who cried often at night, and was more fearful in general. Luckily this fear had become curiosity as he aged, and thus he was dubbed a "seeker soul" - one who was active and curious, often to a fault.

After the celebration, the Clan divided for the new year. Maer selected Dia for the project, as her nimble fingers would be invaluable in the project. For the past few years, there sat within the clan's hunt several rough bolts of cotton, relics of a failed experiment to make clothing. They had not been unused, for they were quite handy in drying oneself after a rainstorm or a dip in the river, and were quite warm in the winter months, though they were hardly large enough to hide one's body completely from the chill.

Maer saw in this presumed failure great promise. If the bolts themselves were useful, they could - like a clan - be greater together. To bind them together, she took a rib from one of the boars, snapped it in half and removed the marrow, and shaved a piece of it into a point. After making her implement, she slowly drilled a hole in one end. She then threaded sinew from a boar into the hole, and instructed Dia to thread the sinew in between two bolts of cotton, hopefully tying them together.

An again took to the garden, though she had Jean and Whia in tow. Her life this year would be simple - caring for plants in the day and children in the night.

The menfolk would be ranging, however. Whit would be heading West, in the direction of the setting sun. Hopefully he'd make another tremendous find, but in truth Whit simply loved the duty of exploration. On the other hand, Jeth would be ranging North, to test out the new spear-thrower and bring back a new type of food to the tribe.

Maer and Dia attempt to make blankets from the bolts of cotton.
An works in the garden and cares for the kids.
Whit heads West to explore.
Jeth heads North to fish with the new spear-thrower.
Jean and Whia are kids, cared for by An.

Xcotl

A lone woman, one without garb and only a stick to keep her from death. She managed to find something, a dead person, what's left of them. The woman takes what was needed and studied the scene. It seemed that the local predators had gotten to them but they could've try to have better weapons. As she followed the tracks to a small village and she went close to the entrance and gave out as the hunger and thirst came over her and she fell and the darkness came to her.

The next thing that came over her was the sight of the inside of a teepee where she had found a man staring at me. It was here she found the tribe of Xcotl, the people who lived in the arid plains but been having troubles as of right now. After the death of Xo, numerous child deaths, and general bad news the woman believed that the chieftain needed her help.

She called herself Kutor, a wanderer and scholar from a tribe that was dead by the Starfall. The young scholar amazed the Chieftain by what she knew and the Chieftain, known as Tenchitzula, was also a scholar and the smartest among them. He asked if she would stay and help improve the village in exchange for staying in Xo's former home. Kutor agreed to stay and help out how she could.

She thought that she could help with weapon making after the wolf incident. It was something she can at least do since she saw one of their dead and them having light equipment to begin with.

Action:Help develop basic weaponmaking for Xcotl
