United States of Brainy wrote:Yeahhhh....H, I love ya, but as far as Collin goes, yeah, no. Like you figured, the main problem being that he's overpowered. WAY overpowered. Whenever I read a character app and it says something like my guy can sink a navy destroyer, that might be a clue that maybe he's a tad overpowered, just a tad. Even if he can only sustain that level for a second, it's too much. And I still think the whole idea of a percentage scale is just too complicated. There's no real way to easily translate, for instance, operating at 50 percent above your limiter, into a concrete, real-world measurement that a player can understand. Does that mean he can lift a truck? A jumbo jet? And on top of all of that, he also has a bulletproof, shock-absorbing suit and possesses a genius-level intellect. Too much.
And the backstory about his dad's experiments is just too vague. Essentially it sounds like what Ajax did to Wade in Deadpool except Wade already had a mutant gene that was just waiting to be triggered. I know your whole point is that you don't need to be a mutant or a meta, that anyone can exceed their limiter with the right training. But that's also the problem. It makes it seem like that all a person has to do is find themselves in an extreme enough situation and wish hard enough and they get superpowers. Sorta like that old story of the mother being able to lift a car off their child. But by that logic, if Harvey Bullock was in a beatdown with Bane, he could get superpowers and I think we all agree that no one wants to see a superpowered Harvey.
I really don't see how you can make this work, Haedros, without a complete overhaul of your character's powers and I don't know if you want to do that. Sorry.

I think I will do that, actually. Instead of super powerful melee Hero, I kinda sorta structured his character to be a bit more like a techie/inventor type hero, what with the high level intellect, computer based job and skills. I’m just gonna overhaul his powers and such to make him more like a young tony stark type character, inventing his own tech and such. Nowhere near as advanced though.

Hahaha, yeah, I'd imagine a machete or a giant pair of garden shears might have been more handy.
And posted for Babs! (I don't know whether I'll be able to get a post done for the scooby gang tonight, we'll see.)
