I certainly understand. Just be aware that if you wish to rejoin the RP at some future date, you will need to talk to me personally by TG.

Notice- The character of Nightwing is open for anyone that wishes to pick him up. You will need to submit an app for approval and you will have to pick up from where he left off in the IC, broken arm and all. :p

This was already approved by Brainy in TGs a while back but now he's out in the field here it is.

Image

Hero APP:
Name/Alias: Batman/Bruce Wayne
Age: 47
Gender: Male
Appearance:
Image
Personality: There are two sides to Bruce Wayne, Bruce and Batman. There are similarities to the two, but also differences. Bruce Wayne in the past tried to portray himself as a superficial, partying playboy that was uninterested in the affairs of Gotham and ambivalent about the crime that plagued the city with fabricated affairs with famous women the cover story for his nighttime vigilante activities. As time has gone the Bruce Wayne persona has matured somewhat, delving into philanthropy via the Wayne Foundation and extending support to political candidates. In person Bruce Wayne can be a very charming man that handles his father's company with meticulous care, when he has the time. What is clear is that his dedication to Gotham City and desire to use his extravagant wealth to support and improve the life of its citizens is no publicity stunt. Bruce Wayne is the face that can get the money to help Batman and Gotham, but it is only a face. The man himself is Batman, the crime-fighter. Batman fights relentlessly in a war against crime that comes close to consuming his very being, and defines who he is. He is a firm believer in justice as well as the justice system and refuses to kill, although he has few moral qualms about his brutal treatment of criminals. Batman is an extremely determined and forceful personality that never will never cease his fight against injustice no matter the odds.
Faction: Batman
Race: Human
Backstory: Bruce Wayne was born to Dr. Thomas Wayne, a physician and philanthropist, and Martha Wayne (née Kane), the celebrity socialite and debutante. Both of his parents were from families of great wealth, meaning young Bruce grew up in great luxury. However, after a trip to the theatre, a young Bruce witnessed his parents' murder at the hands of a mugger. Bruce was left to be raised at the Wayne Manor estate by the family butler, Alfred Pennyworth, who became his legal guardian. Seeing his parents being killed traumatised Bruce and led to him making a vow to rid Gotham City of crime, as well as his disdain for guns, the weapon used to murder his parents.

In his teens the young billionaire began traveling the world, training both his mind and body in preparation for the task that awaited him upon his return to Gotham. Abroad Wayne mastered a variety of crime-fighting skills as well as an array of martial arts, such as man-hunting under the tutelage of Henri Ducard, stealth under the ninja Kirigi and the assassin David Cain, and hand-to-hand fighting from boxer Ted Grant. Additionally he studied at a number of European universities from Cambridge to Paris.

At the age of 25 Bruce Wayne returned to Gotham City, taking up the mantle of a crime-fighting vigilante known as 'Batman' - adapting his own childhood fear as a psychological weapon against his foes. Bruce designed and developed various bat-themed technologies and crime-fighting gadgets using the family business - Wayne Enterprises - of which he is owner and chair to help him in his crusade. Over the years he has taken on a range of 'associates' starting with his legal ward Dick Grayson who became his first sidekick, Robin, all the way to his biological son and the current Robin, Damian Wayne. As Batman rose to fame he began to interact with other notable crime-fighters from outside of Gotham such as Superman and Wonder Woman, who he occasionally fought with. With himself getting older and his associates maturing, Batman was able to work with the Justice League full-time while leaving his home city in the care of Tim Drake, until now.
Powers/Weapons/Tech:
Powers
  • Genius level intellect
  • Peak physical condition
  • Master of hand-to-hand combat
  • Unrivaled detective skills
  • An almost superhuman determination to stop any challenge facing him
  • Indomitable will
  • Has access to various high-tech weapons and equipment
  • He's really rich
Weapons/Tech
  • Batsuit: has more than a hundred variants in his possession. Typically wears combat armour made up of a technical carbon fiber tri-weave giving the suit a high resistance against blunt, impactive and penetrative forces as well as knives and firearms. Suit is desgined to not hinder the wearer's agility, keeping Batman light and agile. The cowl is shaped like a bat's head and designed to appear intimidating. Includes a voice modulator and scanning system. Has a black cape meant to look like a bat's wings which allows him to glide. Wears gauntlets with three blades on each arm to block stabbing weapons.
  • Batmobile: custom and highly-modified vehicle designed by Batman himself. A hybrid of protoype military and civilian technology. Used to pursue his foes with functions specialising in stealth and crowd control. State of the art non-lethal armaments and defense systems.
  • Utility belt: belt worn around the waist of the suit containing a variety of tools used to fight crime ranging from batarangs to smoke grenades to a grappling gun. Security features give an electric shock to anyone but him attempting to use it.
Weaknesses:
  • Lacking superhero powers, he lacks an obvious weakness. Instead his humanity is both his greatest asset and weakness. He is an extremely determined individual who does not relent in the face of a challenge regardless of the chances of success and thus can be worn down and broken physically as well as mentally. Has severe psychological issues stemming from witnessing the murder of his parents as a child and a fear of losing anyone close to him (therefore alienates himself from those he cares about) and triggering memories of these traumatic events or other instances where he perceives to have failed someone will cause significant mental stress.
  • Some may perceive policy of not killing the criminals he faces as a weakness.
  • Another big weakness that he has been developing over the years is the people close to him. He believes himself to have a duty of care for the people that associate themselves with Batman and that he is responsible for any harm that comes their way. Remains extremely guilty of the fate of Jason Todd in particular, but any harm to the people that he cares about will lead to erratic, emotional and violent outbursts.
  • More than 20 years of crime-fighting means that his physical condition is not what it used to be. His body is slower, more fragile, and needs more time to recover. He has kept in shape throughout this time thanks to his work with the Justice League but in the long-term will be facing a great deal of operations and a wheelchair.
Skills: He's a pretty good driver and a pilot. Master escapologist, brilliant scientist, fluent in multiple languages and an all-around very well educated man. If there's something out there that he thinks would be useful for crime-fighting he has probably tried, learned and mastered it or will soon.
RP Examples:
Extra Information
Day Job: Owner of Wayne Enterprises and celebrity socialite
Living Place: Wayne Manor
Voice Actor: Ben Affleck
Likes/Dislikes: In his natural element he's a pretty dour and brooding character at the best of times with few interests outside of his role as Batman: most things he does, skills he has practiced, all done with the intention of improving the Batman. But even that is not something that you could strictly say he 'enjoys' doing.
Theme Song: TDK
Did you read the rules? I'm Batman.

Good post, Skarten! :) And I love how he doesn't recognize the boy he threw out of his helicopter just two days before! I think there might be some subconscious guilt happening there! And nice post too, Faril. And I'm thinking we should have a new rule that states there has to be at least one tied up hero at any given time in the story. :p

Okay, really quick post for Babs and really quick post for Main and I think that's gonna be it for me tonight.

So Brainy, how should I introduce The Electrician?
The Internet killed gun control.

Hmmm...did you wanna introduce him in his civilian guise or in full-blown superhero mode? If the former, maybe he could be called out to fix some of the wiring that got shot-up from that little dust-up at the Penny Arcade. That might be good because he could overhear Coyne talking about the big Penguin meeting that night and that would be his cue to investigate as The Electrician. Or, if you want the latter, you could just have him meet-up with Layla/Deputy on that rooftop during his nightly patrol. Your choice. ;)

YOUR FABULOUS OP IS HERE WITH AN IMPORTANT NOTICE!

A certain date-obsessed supervillain is about to make his stunning debut in this IC!

Who could it be?!

Dun-dun-DUNNNNNNN....

(Okay, I'm terrible at keeping secrets, it's Calendar Man. St. George Territory TG'd me and wanted to come back and now ya know. ;) )

Edit- So, I suggest that everyone hide their calendars unless they want to fall prey to this menacing scourge!

Interesting...

I was thinking where to bring Batman in and was writing for him to show up at Blackgate considering what is going on there but as Lic is away for the next week that may be awkward.

I have a couple of ideas. I'll TG you. ;) I'd really prefer not to delay Bat's return any longer as he's already been intro'd in the story and with Lic's absence, we've lost a good chunk of our heroes. I mean Batman doesn't have to be front and center but he definitely should be working behind the scenes.

I would but I leave it up to you. :) The idea of 'Jules the helpful neighbor' has a nice ring to it though, don't you think? ;)

If anyone is wondering where the hell Caleb is, he’s currently sitting in the same spot he got stepped on in waiting for his spine to heal.

I prefer she/they pronouns, and I enjoy not having to debate people over whether or not they should respect that. If they/them pronouns aren't something you're cool with, just use she/her. Thanks! -That same idiot, 2020

Ohhh...that's right, he has Logan-like healing powers, I keep forgetting that. Would he like an ice cream while he's waiting to heal? :p

Your choice. ;)

Sounds like a plan. I'll do that today or tomorrow.
