Nanako Airlines (initially called Nanako AirLink) was created in 1958 as Nanako's flag carrier by the government to ensure the transportation of goods and people between the numerous islands of the archipelago. Its beginnings were modest. Its initial fleet consisted of a dozen Martin 4-0-4 which provided short-haul flights between the islands of the archipelago. It was on the horizon of the late 60's, with the change of government and the arrival of the awaited economic miracle, that the budget of Nanako Airlines increased tenfold. The management of Nanako Airlines was partly separated from the government and this new autonomy introduced the national company to the international market. Three months later, the company signed its first international contract. The first flight of Nanako Airlines overpassing its borders linked Waterpoo to Sapporo in 1 hour 45 minutes and was provided by a Boeing 727, recently introduced to the fleet of the company. In 1980, the company had multiplied by 130 the number of served destinations and the number of aircraft that made up its fleet. Always at the forefront of technology, Nanako Airlines and its growing popularity negociated numerous long-term contracts allowing the company to take advantage of the latest Airbus and Boeing aircraft. By 1994, the company reaffirmed its willingness to offer comfort and efficiency to its passengers in a charter that defines for all the current flights standards of the company: its standards of comfort and efficiency which still today designs the company's art-de-vol (art of flying). In 1995, Nanako Airlines also adhered to a petition against air pollution and undertake massive internal reworks to respect the company's commitments on sustainable and ecological ideals. In 2000, the company took advantage of a impromptu momentum to create the Nanako Airlines group by buying the company Boost Lines and creating a local branch ensuring domestic flights, a slight change of policies to embrace what the company had been originally tasked for. It is our taste of comfort and efficiency that today really defines Nanako Airlines around the world. By 2018, the company served nearly 220 destinations worldwide and is one of the largest companies in the 21st century. Always at the forefront of comfort and technology, we hope to see you soon among us, in one of our flights. With Nanako Airlines, the sky is yours.
