After a spectacular reconquest of the rebellious Australia, Luka has not been sated. For he seeks to reclaim the long lost lands of Oest-Amerika: a colony slain just before the declaration of the empire.
In 1710, Letheny found itself amidst a coalition war, in which the previous king had sparked by going on a conquering spree, thus sparking a global conflict. Letheny was swiftly losing ground, her colonies were being torched, her economy was shattered, and Letheny's mighty navy was the only thing protecting the frail Kingdom of Letheny from the gallows. That same year, the first Alterz, a middle nobleman named Linus von Alterz, gained military support and overthrew the King. He had similar territorial lusts as the King before him but the competence to back it up.
Linus waged fierce war against the coalition and threw them back time and time again, and even stepped foot into new lands. Through Linus' capabilities as a warrior and leader, he managed to tire out the coalition enough that the two sides came to a compromise in which Letheny still held onto some of its conquests. But among the territories lost was Letheny's greatest foothold in America: the East America, or Oest-Amerika colony. It had fallen swiftly to the coalition due to its underpopulation compared to the neighboring Louisiana.
Thirteen years later, Linus would go on to subjugate Letheny's long-time neighbor, the Kingdom of Aldeny. He declared the Lethen Empire, but irritable nobles prevented Linus from actually calling himself an Emperor. His descendant, the first monarch of Letheny to call himself Emperor, returns to repay the insult of the loss of Oest-Amerika in blood just three-hundred-and-eight years later.

The operation began somewhat silently, at midnight. The whole world was used to seeing their radars blotted out by the massive fleets of the world's colonial empires darting around. It wasn't until it was blatantly clear that Letheny was coming straight for Louisiana until the fleet had approached Bermuda and had still not turned to beeline to the Caribbean or Guiana. The navy was alerted and the air force was mobilized in preparation for an attack, but they decided to wait just to make sure. The fleet was summoned and stationed in eastern Fleuride (IRL Florida). The Louisianan government also sent a message to the fleet.
Le gouvernement de Louisiane wrote:We hereby ask you to redirect your fleet. It is approaching our waters and almost appears to be directed towards our lands. For the sake of peace, we ask that you do not make 25 miles west of the Lethen territory of Bermuda at any latitude unless you are at the longitude of 30 degrees.
The Lethen fleet did not respond, and instead took a hard turn north. Thus it was evident that was a decline to their offer. The Louisanan navy began to pursue the Lethen fleet, and about 700 fighters were sent out to perform a quick strike. Letheny however anticipated and detected this build-up and scattered the 1000 or so fighters it had upon its carriers, plus 120 more fighters and 40 stealth bombers stationed in Bermuda. The Louisianan air attack force was quickly overwhelmed and enveloped by the Lethen air force.
The Louisianan botched their cohesiveness in communication, and the Louisianan fleet attacked without air support. The 40 stealth bombers rained down a barrage of death, and ended up crippling the Louisianan carrier, 2 frigates, and 3 destroyers. The swarm of fighters came down from above and pelted the fleet with missiles, sinking all of the ships initially hit by stealth bombers as well as 6 more destroyers, 12 corvettes, and left only one frigate still afloat. The remainder of the Louisianan navy realized it was a fruitless effort and fled into port, were 3 more corvettes were sunk. Luckily, all of the crews managed to escape their ships.
With a decisive and somewhat lucky naval victory for Letheny, Louisiana knew what came next, and rushed to mobilize an army, summoning a large chunk of their small formal army and a horde of militias to come to the defense of the nation. The fleet was detected to be approaching the Louisianan coast. Meanwhile, Letheny's submarine detachment of the fleet scattered and went on patrols. Letheny could not blockade, as Letheny had to be careful not to particularly piss off any other great powers, and disrupting trade would do that well -- but the submarines were kept handy to do so if need be.
While the small Louisianan Air Force clashed with the Lethen Air Force, the Lethen Navy spread itself out along the long coast of Louisana. The reason the Lethen fleet appeared to be so huge was now clear: it was escorting a formidable number of transport ships. Letheny appeared to be conducting naval invasions in 5 locations.
A force of 70000 or so landed in Cape Virginia and began a fierce assault towards the western tip of North Carolina, where they would meet up with an additional 40000 soldiers who landed in Carolina Beach and were ordered to spread their occupation far and then march through South Carolina. Meanwhile, a large force of 60000 landed on the tip of Fleuride (IRL Florida) and aggressively began their march out of the peninsula. The remaining 40000 out of the invasion of 20,000 landed in the Cypremort Point in Louisiana and began to fan out all across the state.
Thus began a patriotic war for both sides, with Letheny fighting mercilessly in order to protect its pride in the face of a perceived insult and Louisiana desperately fighting to fend off the invader in protection of the Patrie. The news of the invasion would quickly spread across the planet, but late at night of course. Louisiana pleaded for help against the invader while Letheny's response was total silence.
Rules
Obvious RP rules apply here, but let me remind you that most information of the war is inaccessible. Therefore, while your nation will know that Louisana is under attack, they won't know the numbers of the attack, or the motive, or bla bla bla. You don't have to ask to join, but MT-early-early-PMT nations only, and PM me if you actually want to perform military intervention instead of resorting to diplomatic or economic objection.
