The Romance Language Foundation

Romance Languages are some of the most spoken on the planet, with 35 different languages, millions of speakers, and hundreds of dialects. However, we’re not just interested in IRL Romance languages, but Romance Conlangs as well. The Romance Language Foundation is an organization dedicated to the preservation, classification and spread of Romance languages throughout the world. So, in those interests, we invite all nations who have Romance languages or Romance Conlangs as a national language, official language , or have minority communities that speak one to fill out this survey, and, if they wish, to join the Romance Language Foundation as an official member.

Prevalence of the Language within your nation The vast majority of the populace speaks it (86%) however it is mostly used as a Lingua Franca. Many speak either Portuguese, Spanish, Italian, or some dialect of the three with their families in their own homes. Native Basilians are then effectively by nature at least bilingual if not trilingual. The language is essentially a combination of Spanish (including Galician, Leonese, Basque, Catalan, etc), Portuguese, Italian, Sicilian, Sardinian, Corsican, and a slight splash of Turkish from some cross-culture pollination. It became the Lingua Franca out of necessity, as too many people in the same place spoke too many different languages
